im sorry shadow's backstory is What

oh i LOVE explaining this to people so let me clarify: everything i am about to tell you is one hundred percent canon. everything. you can look it up on the wiki or playthroughs of sonic adventure 2 and shadow the hedgehog if you dont believe me.

shadow the hedgehog was created in a test tube in space we'll start there

he was created on a space colony by eggman's grandfather, dr gerald robotnik.

gerald was working with the government to make an "ultimate lifeform" in order to achieve immortality. his main motivation is to find a cure for his granddaughter maria, who has a rare chronic illness called "NIDS" which is. AIDS. it's just AIDS. anyway she doesn't have long to live unless he can figure out this ultimate lifeform thing

gerald tries to make this thing but it just makes a really big lizard that wants to kill things so he stashes it in the space-basement and hopes that won't cause problems later

in order to actually make the ultimate life form this time he makes a deal with.... a fucking demon alien hivemind leader from a creepy comet that circles the planet

if you have seen the shadow snapcube fandub, this is the devil from the bible. canon name is black doom

so gerald takes some of black doom's dna and uses it to make shadow the ultimate lifeform

yes this means shadow has two dads

gerald does figure out the demon alien is probably gonna betray him tho so he builds a giant fuck-off canon on the space colony in case they need to kill him

shadow is raised on the ark alongside maria as his sister-figure if not like literal sister. the two of them have never been off the space station and dream about seeing earth

unfortunately the military finds out that there's like suuuper deadly weapons on this ship and they're like "wtf we're the us military nobody can make deadly weapons but us" so they do what any sane person would do

they go on the space colony and massacre everyone

seriously. some people managed to escape through escape pods but like they just kill everyone. one survivor in shth clarifies that his entire family died that day

the military also shoots and kills maria in front of shadow. while she doesn't have a canon age in the games, the anime lists her as twelve

maria manages to send shadow off in an escape pod before dying and asks him to take care of the earth for her and give the people on there a chance to be happy because she's a fucking angel

the military finds shadow's escape pod tho oops

anyway gerald was taken into police custody and when he finds out maria is dead he literally SNAPS and decides that blowing up the planet sounds like a good idea

he figures he wont be able to do anything in his prison so he finds shadow and MANIPULATES HIS MEMORIES to make him think maria made him promise revenge, then tells him to use the cannon he built for the demons and use it to blow up the whole planet

the military then puts shadow in cryo and EXECUTES GERALD BY FIRING SQUAD ONSCREEN

shadow is then woken up by eggman after a 50 year timeskip

schenanigans happen and he ends up deciding not to take revenge and then he dies. but wait he didn't die he just fell to earth and lost all his memories so the demon alien dad manipulates him into revenge again. then shadow gets his memories back and kicks his dad's ass

and now he's just kinda hanging out

and we are going to see ALL OF THIS in a CHILDREN'S MOVIE december 20 2024

One thing I loved about Chaos Sonic is how he’s evidence that even when he makes an attempt, Doctor Eggman can’t understand Sonic. Can’t compete with Sonic, can’t compare at all to Sonic in any capacity, cause although these two are so intertwined, they couldn’t be more different.

New Yoke Eggman created Chaos Sonic when Nine (unintentionally) gave him the idea that if he wanted a chance at beating Sonic, he needed to think like Sonic. And at first glance, Chaos Sonic fits that effort. Chaos Sonic is cocky, cheeky, insanely fast, endlessly talkative, irritatingly stubborn, and he’s got a thing for chili dogs. All characteristics that apply to Sonic. However as the episode continues we see how Sonic and Chaos Sonic are NOT one and the same.

Chaos Sonic isn’t just independent, he’s a genuine loner. And a mean one at that. He views friends as a weakness. He doesn’t do things alone because it’s a personal preference, but because he legitimately sees himself as inherently above the individuals around him. Working alongside and helping others is beneath him. He’s better than that. This is not the mindset of Sonic The Hedgehog. Sonic is an extroverted introvert who values his alone time, but he’s also someone who greatly cherishes and respects his friends, and he loves when they go on adventures together. And while it’s undeniable he’s got an ego, Sonic never downplays the success or capabilities of his companions. More often than not, he’s the one delivering them praise.

Chaos Sonic shows that Eggman understands Sonic on a surface level. So, really, not that well at all.

I am DEEPLY sorry about making you dive down this rat’s nest of a lore hole, but I’m back with another question that should be cleared up: Can You Fuck Shadow the Hedgehog?

I have a feeling this is gonna get complicated real fast…

I've had this one in mind for a while, so this shouldn't be all that hard to write.

CAN YOU FUCK: SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG?

YOU FELL FOR IT! YOU ALL FELL FOR IT!

To any reasonable person, Shadow should have been included in the Sonic post, alongside Surge, Mighty, etc. But you want to know why I didn't? Because if I did, it wouldn't give me the proper opportunity to rant about something.

SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG IS NOT 50 YEARS OLD. HE NEVER WAS, HE NEVER HAS BEEN, AND HE WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE.

This is a misconception that has permeated through the fanbase for Chaos knows how long, being repeated over and over and over again, ad nauseam.

Why do people even say this? Well, Project Shadow started 50 years before the event of Sonic Adventure 2. Which means Shadow's creation happened 50 years ago.

So, people take this as "Oh, Shadow was created 50 years ago, this must mean he's 50 years old!"

DO YOU PEOPLE NOT KNOW WHAT THE WORD "STASIS" MEANS.

During Sonic Adventure 2, Eggman breaks into a military base to unleash a "top secret military weapon" for his plans. This weapon, is, of course, shadow. The screenshot above is from the scene where Shadow is released.

What does this look like those particles are? What do they look like to you? Usually, thick white air particles like these are a result of the use of cold to pause biological processes. On top of that, the shot right before it displays the object atop the machinery pretty well, although with some distance.

This is a pod. Like, this is very obviously a pod. Shadow is even standing on top of it once he's revealed.

And what does he say when he's revealed?

Note how he says "Awakening". This is taken from a re-translation of the Japanese script, since the official translation makes him refer to being released as opposed to being awakened. Remember, translations for these games in this era were... Less than stellar.

(seriously, don't go there yet? to the guy telling you he shouldn't have ever been born? like maybe you're right maybe you shouldn't have been born but we don't know enough to say that for sure. ok, buddy)

So, yeah, Shadow isn't 50. I've been saving this for a standalone post, because it is baffling to me how people still keep spouting that "Fact" over and over, even though it makes no sense. He was frozen. He didn't develop mentally or physically. I'm not a Marvel fan by any means, but this is like if you added 66 years to Captain America's age because that's how long he was frozen. For these characters, if you just knocked them unconscious and then sent them to the future, it literally would not make even a bit of a difference.

He's not 50. Moving on.

Here and there, official material will mention Shadow as being "Immortal" or "Ageless". While never stated in the 2005 game, it makes complete sense, as Shadow was made with Black Doom's own genetic material. Black Doom is immortal, Black Doom's genes are in Shadow, thus, Shadow cannot die of old age.

There is, however, no implication that he does not mentally mature. In fact, it would make sense for him to start out quite young to then become more mature as time goes on, since part of the reason he was made was to accompany Maria, in a sibling-like relationship. Although it's unlikely that the Sonic Channel artwork is canon, most of it at least, it does convey a situation akin to this, which would be horribly out of character otherwise.

Look at em! They're doing their homework together! And then a few years later, after Maria's death...

Look at him! Using a minigun for the first time!

His maturity in SA2 also seems just about on par with Sonic's, so it's safe to assume that when that game happened, they were about even in terms of mental development. In general, Shadow is a Sonic counterpart. A very, very close counterpart.

... Very... Very... Ah screw it, let's just bite the bullet.

This happened! An entire Bumblekast episode dedicated to Sonic, Shadow, and mostly Sonadow. It's pretty recent, too! From 8 months ago! In fact, it was made for Pride Month 2023; after Frontiers released. So, Ian Flynn by then became not just a comic writer, but a writer for the games.

I'm not saying Sonadow is canon, obviously, but if the current writer of the games is willing to entertain it for an entire episode and even go as far as saying it's actually really easy to make happen and you don't need to do too much work for it to happen, then it's probably safe to assume the characters are on even ground in terms of maturity.

So, if Shadow can hypothetically, in a fully canon-compatible way, make out with Sonic, and Sonic is fuckable, then Shadow is, by extension, fuckable.

Honestly this is entirely longer than necessary. I could have brought this one up earlier and saved myself the work. Where's the fun in that, though?

Either way, verdict is;

You can, in fact, fuck Shadow The Hedgehog.

i like thinking sonic just doesn’t entirely get shadow. i don’t think he completely understands him and i think he tends to take his whole deal way too lightly. i’m shth05 posting again in shth05 sonic continually calls the situation a game and fun and overall treats it like another fun adventure while shadow’s having the (second) worst day of his life. (my favourite example of this is when shadow remembers what it was like to die and then immediately next sonic says “it’s time to get this party started! let’s rock and roll!”)

also “he was what he was, a brave and heroic hedgehog” from the end of sa2, contrasted with shth05’s marketing of “there’s good guys, there’s bad guys, and then theres shadow” and etc. and while ultimately in last story he’s more or less on the same side as sonic and co, he doesn’t actually fight alongside them. while the pure hero route is probably closest to what i’d consider having really happened in shth05 since there’s no canon route, it’s still shadow being dragged along by what other people think he is/was like all the other routes. if shadow betrays sonic at the last second, after defeating him sonic says “man, i didn’t think you had it in ya…”. i think sonic believes that at shadow’s core, he’s a hero. and i think that’s a sort of shallow reading of shadow.

or, that’s at least what he acts like he thinks. idk

Sonic Headcanons 9

Professor Gerald and Black Doom never gave Shadow "the talk", so Shadow doesn't know how babies are made. They likely both thought that he would never have a romantic relationship and he is most likely sterile.

Knuckles also doesn't know how babies are made, but at some point, when Rouge was on Angel Island on somewhat peaceful terms, he asked her out of curiosity. His muzzle went the same colour as his red fur from blushing when she answered his question, quite bluntly and in detail actually. Rouge found Knuckles’ reaction hilarious and adorable.

Because Shadow grew up alongside Maria, she used to invite him to sleep in her bed. When Shadow came to live on Earth and regained a few of his memories (he might not even have his memories when this occurred. Possibly an instinctual habit), he didn't realise that people don't just get into bed with each other, as that's what he did with Maria. It made sleepovers with friends very confusing for Shadow and awkward for everyone else.

(Spoilers for the murder of sonic the hedgehog) After the events of Amy's birthday on the Mirage Express, Amy and Shadow went to the Hot Honey concert together and Shadow actually kinda enjoyed it. Amy began introducing him to different bands and artists she likes and they both bond over them.

While most Mobian species are diurnal (Meaning they are awake during the day), all Mobians have Tapetum Lucidum in their eyes, which means they have reflective eyes that makes it easier for them to see in the dark. It’s probably not as noticeable as regular animals’ reflective eyes.

Shadow is probably a clean freak due to growing up around Maria and everything needing to be sanitary because of her disease and how weakened her immune system was. His home is stocked with multiple cleaning chemicals, detergents and equipment. It’s all lavender scented.

Both Knuckles and Shadow are touch starved. Surprisingly, Knuckles is a little more repressed than Shadow when it comes to hugs. This might be due to Knuckles growing up in isolation and Shadow having a close affectionate sibling bond with Maria. Shadow isn’t as uptight about hugs as you would necessarily think.

That’s the reason why Shadow is so relaxed about Amy hugging him in Sonic Adventure 2. It likely reminded him of Maria.

Amy is a practicing witch, specifically a kitchen witch. She uses Tarot cards, which is a type of Divination and can sense Sonic without actually seeing him with some kind of ESP. She loves baking (Which is why I thought a kitchen witch, made most sense) and probably makes delicious edible potions and spells, especially love potions.

(Adopted headcanon from BRaN, @be_random_now Hands & Feel comic on Twitter) Gloves are like underwear in most Mobian cultures worldwide and not wearing gloves in public is similar to the human is equivalent of being naked in public, though not quite the same. Showing your bare hands is a special and intimate privilege only for close friends, family and significant other halves.

(Sonic Adventure 2 spoilers) The reason Shadow fell to his 'death' in Sonic Adventure 2 is partly due to his inexperience using the Chaos Emeralds to go super, as well as running out of energy without his inhibitor rings to moderate how much energy he outputs.

(Sonic Adventure 2 spoilers) Sonic and Shadow fixed the moon in Sonic Adventure 2 when they chaos controlled the Ark back. It reset the moon back to before it was half destroyed by the Eclipse cannon. Basically, it's as if it was never destroyed in the first place.

Sonic has stacks and stacks of photo albums piled up at Tails' house. They document most of his adventures and time he spent hanging out with his friends. Sonic puts a little description and the date he took the photo next to the images, so he can reminisce when he visits Tails' home. Tails regularly prints out photos that Sonic took on his phone camera.

Sonic Prime Inconsistencies Part 1 Okay so I wanted to make this post to ramble about the inconsistencies or just straight up lore problems of Sonic Prime. While I get it is supposed to be more oriented towards kids, such a thing is not an excuse for simplistic story telling. In addition with the recent focus on Lore in recent Sonic games with the addition of a lore master, I find the inclusion of Sonic Prime to the canon of the games to be the big problem. The whole if it doesn't contradict the games and unified canon thing. It would be alright if it wasn't canon though still frustrating. But one Logan McPherson, Takashi Iizuka, alongside others has confirmed it is supposed to be canon. So my first problem is Sonic and I am not going to talk about his blabber mouth, yet. You see there is a problem with his power level, he is way too underpowered for at this point in the timeline. This Sonic will inconsistently smash through Eggforcers like they are your basic Badnik but then also having struggling with them fighting forever like this was a DBZ fight. The Eggforcers I would best describe as slightly beefed up Badniks, but still Sonic should not be having such a hard time with them. Using characters like Shadow, Orbot, and Cubot as a way to set down a placement in the timeline. This would mean this Sonic whose struggling with slightly beefed up Badniks is the same one whose faced off against the Death Egg Robot, the Great Egg Robo, Perfect Chaos even fighting him in his base form, the Black Arms, Dark Gaia, etc. among all the various mechs and bosses in up until this point. However, if the claim Prime takes place in the far future, that means he would have been through even more up until Frontiers!! My next problem is a nitpick but why is Birdie not only hanging out with Amy now but why are they pink? Birdie was blue in Adventure so why are they suddenly pink? Imma ask is to match up with Amy the pink female hedgehog? Because if so that is pretty questionable.

Hello, Everyone.

So this video is just based on the original Netflix series, SONIC PRIME. I'm pretty sure everyone has watched it already. I did too. However, I've gotten the word from a viewer telling me the whole story was not as clear as all the Sonic fans think. This Sonic doesn't match with the other Sonic's we knew over his franchise history. Many would probably think whatever they've expected while watching it was gonna be included in, like on the posters for example, but nothing ever went through. Some of us also went sad or ill right after watching the whole thing as well, only mentally in this case.

This version of SONIC PRIME is somewhat of an idea that I made, like I made it as if it were to be a sequel series. I don't think any of you understood what a sequel series is; it's like when like in the Harry Potter series is just based on movie-limited time recordings, but this way is different. This sequel series I'm expressing is based on tv-show-limited time recordings. Or it can just be a two hour 30 minute animated movie. Anyway, this version explains Shadow the Hedgehog's side of the story, but not in the format that follows the original's story. Everything was back to normal, but this time, the adventure takes place all in the Green Hill dimension.

But first, before we get into the little informative synopsis of Shadow's story, I want you to take a look at the cast of characters here:

Shadow is a black and red striped hedgehog, also known as the ultimate lifeform, whose air shoes allow his speed to rival Sonic's. He wields the Chaos Emerald around to control space and time, and can also use it to drag him up to higher speed. He crosses paths with Rouge The Bat, and hooks up with her, going on day-by-day dates that last very quickly having their bonds form into romance. He suddenly realizes Sonic and his friends were blasted into the sky after a big ground rumbling explosion. All of Sonic and friends were thrown up into the sky out of Green Hill. He assures Rouge, Umbra, Blaze and Omega to join him to save Sonic, his friends and the crystals in various other unfamiliar areas.

Rouge is a jewel-loving anthropomorphic bat who works as a spy. She crosses paths with Shadow and starts going on day-by-day dates with him until she has completely fallen in love with him. She teams up with him, alongside Umbra, Blaze and Omega to save all the crystals in Greenhill, Sonic and his friends.

Omega is Eggman’s formally abused red robot whose intent was to annihilate him and his evil schemes. He is given a chip which activates him to interact with others acting and sounding like a regular person would. He joins Shadow, Rouge, Umbra, and Blaze to Sonic, his friend’s and all the stolen crystals. He is considered to be one of the strongest robots he is when fighting all of the other robots he comes across.

Umbra is an anthropomorphic wolf who has the ability to use red-colored, static electricity to control the strength of any opponents’ powers and weakens them. He can glide in thin air and the sky, wearing a wingsuit, and hover boots to boost controlled speed. He can snap his fingers to stop and start time. He equips with his team with a couple of gadgets he made. His booster items are amethyst crystals, which he plunges them into his chest, and then he grows more strength. He can also use his power to make various electrified weapons, such as, whips, nunchucks, and big red explosive overhead bowling balls, etc.

Blaze is a purple cat princess from an alternate dimension. She has been appointed as guardian of the Sol Emeralds. She ends up, finding herself, not having any other gems left in her dimension and discovers a cloak figure passing through. And into another dimension through a dark purple whole. She travels through to Green Hill and teams up with shadow and the rest of his crew to save them.

And now for the synopsis:

Shadow, Rouge, Omega, Umbra & Blaze bark on an adventure to save all the stolen crystals, Sonic and his friends. All of Sonic and his friends have been blasted into the sky by an explosion and separately land in various unfamiliar areas nobody knows about. All the crystals were stolen by a cloak figure who dimensionally teleports into other worlds, and other land areas.

Shadow The Hedgehog, 2005

HERE WE GO, BUDDY, HERE WE GO

This game has a reputation of being horrible but I honestly don’t think it is as bad as people say.

I think the reputation comes from people thinking a Sonic character wielding a Desert Eagle is funny, which it is, but the series allows for serious characters like that to exist alongside childish characters like Cream or Big and have it still make sense in-lore. Shadow being an angry weapons expert just sort of works in my opinion.

The story is good and the gameplay is pretty much a combination of the three play styles from Sonic Adventure 2 which is what I like about the game. Even the music is good.

The primary issue with the game, for me, is the level progression and the tedious level objectives. Having to beat the entire game a dozen times to get the true ending just isn’t fun and neither is tracking down 30 specific enemies per level.

I ended up beating the game two or three times then just looking up the other endings in 2008 because I didn’t feel like playing it anymore. I will always be a fan of the Castle level though, since it has great theming, Amy is your partner, and it has a fun boss fight.

Overall, I’d say it’s worth playing but only until you get bored.

Virtual Reality weapon: The Phantom Ruby

The Phantom Ruby is one of the coolest gizmos in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. This post aims to analyze the properties and history it has demonstrated throughout the series.

Powers

The Phantom Ruby is a mysterious object that first came into Sonic’s world after a sudden dimensional breach in the atmosphere, bringing down with it the entirety of Angel Island and sparking interest from several parties. From the get go, this artifact already demonstrated an unprecedented amount of power the likes of which even Eggman sought to replicate (to varying success).

As Tails explains in Sonic Forces, the Phantom Ruby is able to feed false information to the brain and trap its victims in extremely lifelike illusions that can draw from their own thoughts and imagination. This includes Phantom Copies, which can look and act like pre-existing individuals, albeit without "souls."

Perhaps its most interesting property, however, is its ability to react to the sense of being and will of others. Paralleling the Chaos Emeralds' “power enriched by the heart,” it can be said that the Phantom Ruby possesses "power enriched by the mind." This is perhaps better demonstrated in Sonic Mania, where the Hard Boiled Heavies suffer radical changes to their appearance and mannerisms based on the minds of the animals powering them as a result of exposure to the Phantom Ruby.

This trait of the ruby is explored to its extreme in Sonic Channel's Otherworldly Comedy, where Dr. Eggman engulfs the planet in various illusions that reflect the people's own impression of themselves, erasing their memories and having them live out alternate lives and scenarios until then only possible in their dreams. This is done by utilizing a weapon still charged with the aftermath of the Phantom Ruby’s energy. The doctor also uses a modified leftover prototype to power himself up to a form akin to Super Sonic, being able to manifest alternate worlds in a whim and create Phantom Copies of creatures as powerful as Perfect Chaos, seemingly having no limitations in regards to energy consumption like Infinite did, although it's unclear to what extent this prototype was modified.

History

The Phantom Ruby's first chronological appearance, Sonic Mania, has Tails convince Sonic to go and check the unique energy signature detected in Angel Island that caused it to fall to the ocean. Dr. Eggman, who detected that very same signal, has also deployed his elite Eggrobo squad to retrieve its source. The Hard Boiled Heavies, granted new powers and greater freedom of thought by the Phantom Ruby, attempt to escape with it, and thus begins the adventure to prevent the gemstone from falling in the wrong hands.

After Sonic and friends, who are in possession of the seven Chaos Emeralds, wreck Eggman and his Phantom Egg, a mech designed to make use of the Phantom Ruby's energy, the group is taken to what appears to be a dimensional void created by the ruby. There, Super Sonic gets caught in the middle of the conflict between Eggman, riding his Klepto Mobile, and the Phantom King, who at this point has long since betrayed his maker, both fighting to get ahold of the gemstone. In the end, Sonic leaves victorious, being teleported to the future alongside the Phantom Ruby.

In the aftermath of this battle, the Phantom Ruby winds up in front of one of Eggman's facilities. The doctor begins to study it closely, learning how to make use of its abilities after his base is attacked by the Jackal Squad. He performs his first real test on Angel Island, creating copies of Pachacamac's village and Chaos, god of destruction. Seeing it in action, Robotnik deems the jewel even more powerful than the Master Emerald itself.

Beholding the Phantom Ruby's incredible power, Eggman aims to replicate it. In this pursuit, he manufactures various faulty prototypes in Mystic Jungle until he can finally perfect it, gifting the final product to the new leader of his army, Infinite.

Eventually, six months after taking over the world, Eggman orders Infinite to dispose of those prototypes, seeing as he had no need for such liabilities. The jackal does a poor job, however, leaving a few unattended. One in particular, the one he dropped while fighting Silver in Mystic Jungle, is discovered by the Avatar, whose heroism would prove enough to activate it.

At the climax of the Eggman War, Infinite uses his Phantom Ruby's power to summon an illusionary sun above the battlefield, aiming to wipe out all of the resistance. The Avatar manages to dissipate it, however, losing his own prototype in the process. Weakened from spending much of his energy to create that sun, Infinite tries to take on Sonic who, aided by the Avatar, beats the mercenary one final time. This causes him to lose control of his powers and be pulled into the Eggman Empire Fortress' decoy reactor, ultimately being consumed by the original Phantom Ruby.

After Infinite's defeat, Eggman reveals he has incorporated the Phantom Ruby into his new Death Egg Robot, claiming to have surpassed Infinite as the ultimate form. Just as the Phantom Egg before it, however, this mech is destroyed by Sonic, his classic self and the Avatar, ending the war and sending both the Phantom Ruby and Classic Sonic back to the past.

Classic Sonic, returning from the future after aiding the Resistance in winning the war, is still chasing after the Phantom Ruby. The gemstone falls into the hands of Heavy Magician, who uses it to reassemble her fellow Hard Boiled Heavies. Thus, Sonic is forced to go on his earlier adventure again, though this time accompanied by Mighty and Ray as well.

As Eggman's plan once again fails, he is sucked into a Phantom Ruby portal, presumably finding himself stuck in Egg Reverie Zone. This is the original Phantom Ruby's last appearance, leaving its fate ambiguous.

Meanwhile, back in the future, the modern Dr. Eggman has yet to give up on his Phantom Ruby exploits. Seeing as how he still had a weapon charged with Phantom Ruby energy, the doctor decides to put it to good use and begins another world conquering plot. By covering the entire planet with the Phantom Ruby's energy, he used what Tails calls "cognitive frictional energy" to generate extreme amounts of energy from the discrepancy between the world's original reality and the new reality overwriting it. By absorbing this resulting energy, Eggman created his ultimate weapon, the Egg Field, a mech capable of reshaping the world around it to erase all of his past failures.

Sonic manages to destroy the weapon by turning into Super Sonic, forcing Eggman to transform into "Super Eggman" by making use of his modified Phantom Ruby prototype. The doctor attempts to persuade Sonic by arguing that these fake scenarios cause harm to no one, but the hedgehog refutes this by saying that the thoughts of Earth's denizens should not be forced out of their minds, and to do that would be to inflict suffering upon the planet. Eggman also attempts to create a fake world tailored to Sonic's every whim, but he manages to see past it and defeat Robotnik, allowing things to return to normal, even if slowly due to how massive the scale of the illusions were.

Eggman, beneath the wreckage of Eggmanland, contemplates fixing his modified Phantom Ruby prototype and using it once more, but Infinite, who was briefly able to leave the Phantom Ruby during the whole event, snatches it from his hand. Initially seeking revenge, he instead accepts his fate as his body disappears once more, dropping the prototype into the lava.

some thoughts evoked by the poll thingy with blaze being in the finals. It’s not about the polls, I do know these are for funsies and stuff, the thought occured to me though because of it.

I think blaze is a very mistreated and underrated character.

Wow, okay, that was loaded. Still stands though. I guess I have none other than SEGA to blame, but either way, I do wanna analyze her journey in the franchise and also share my thoughts along the way.

Blaze the cat had a great kick-off at the beginning of her career. What better way to introduce her than have her as a playable character alongside the main character in an exclusive game for the massively popular at the time, Nintendo DS. Sonic Rush sold more than a million copies and even though it was a pretty great game, it did more than that: it took care of Blaze. It established her character, her background, her story, it gave her an entire character development arc. What was there not to love about her? Sonic’s rival at first, a girl who could keep up with him in terms of speed and power, a princess from another dimension who could also control fire, having her own set of emeralds of which she was the guardian and even her own super form. So many things to consider. All those things were what made her super likeable back in 2005. Fans were actually obsessed with her. And they needed more. So, SEGA had to do something about it.

Here comes Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), changing quite a few things that we already knew about our favorite blue speedster. Possibly changing the entire franchise irredeemably. You already know where I’m going with this. We’re introduced to a new character, Silver the Hedgehog. Everyone is excited to play through his story and, right off the bat, we meet his company: Blaze. Everyone is cheering beacuse Blaze! She’s here, in a 3D game! Soooo, Silver is a character from Blaze’s dimension? Wrong. They’re from the future. Maybe Blaze’s dimension is from the future? Wrong. Blaze and Sonic don’t even acknowledge each other when they eventually meet, acting like they’ve never met before, like Sonic Rush never happened. Okay, fine, it can’t get worse than that, right? Wrong.

Blaze, for the entirety of the game is treated like a cosmetic, acting solely as Silver’s sidekick, or even as his mentor if you will, and nothing more. We rarely see through her and her thoughts and we’re given little to no means to understand her character. For some people, Blaze was a newly introduced character, since not everyone knew her existence from a year prior. What they get is not the powerful princess we met in Rush, the one who understood the power of friendship and used it in her favour despite her bad past. No, what they got in 06 was a side character, merely existing to give Silver advice and suggestions for his own journey, which she follows no matter what path he chooses to take, even if she disagrees or is not entirely content with it.

Her limited screentime used for fan-service purposes ended with a bang. Despite this huge journey of giving Silver a purpose (or helping him fulfill it), Blaze was the one who saved the future by using Chaos Control and sacrificing herself in the process, turning into a sort of Burning Blaze as she ascends to the sky. The only reason I felt bad about it was because I knew who Blaze was supposed to be, Blaze to me was the character introduced in Rush. But, given all the info from this specific game, I wasn’t really attached to this Blaze, I had no reason to. Her story felt too blank in comparison to everyone else’s for me to feel the impact of her death. I can understand Silver’s pain though.

Which doesn’t matter in the end because the timeline is erased.

So, does that mean Sonic 06 never happened or that it’s not canon? Nope. Everything happened and everything is back to the way it was. Except that the future is saved. How do we know? Sonic Rivals and Sonic Rush Adventure happened.

I will stick to the latter for the time being. Sonic Rush received a not so commerrcially successful as its predecessor sequel, picking up from where it left off. Kind of. The game released in 2007, a year after 06, the events of which were never to be brought up again, at least until Generations (2011). So, as you’d assume, Sonic and Blaze act like 06 never happened to them, continuing their story after Rush’s events. This game gave more in-depth character development to Blaze, who strengthens her bonds with old and new friends. It doesn’t really matter though because this game didn’t sell well, meaning not a lot of people bought it. Basically, no one knew that game existed so they were wondering what the hell happened to Blaze. Was she dead? Was she from the future? Was she from a different dimension? Would we ever see her again?

Uncertainty prevailed and after SEGA realized how bad of an idea it was to release 06 at its terrible state, they decided it would be best to pretend like it never happened. Iizuka (if I’m not mistaken) when asked in an interview, said that the reason Sonic and Blaze didn’t recognize each other in 06 was “amnesia”. Which doesn’t answer anything and I believe an official answer right now would differ a lot from that. Blaze went on to be a playable character in a few racing games, she got a few cameos. 2009, she appears in Sonic and the Black Knight as Sir Percival. Once again, it doesn’t change anything because, this is a storybook game and doesn’t take place in the in-game universe (this is the arthurian kingdom/world/universe).

Many fans theorized that 06 happened before Rush, making Blaze die in 06 and being transeferred to a new dimension while she had used Chaos Control, forgetting about the past, hence why she didn’t know Sonic in Rush. This was further supported by the fact that Blaze and Silver didn’t recognize each other in Sonic Colors DS (2010), meaning they had forgotten each other. Blaze forgot about 06 and traveled to a different dimension and Silver was affected by the timeline erasure. Sounds pretty solid, right?

Sonic Generations (2011). Blaze is there because she is still relevant and a beloved character to the franchise. No one knows how she got there and no one explains it but no one cares, she’s there to celebrate Sonic’s birthday, the Sonic she knows through the Rush games. But stuff happens and she gets trapped, alongside many of Sonic’s friends, into this ‘white limbo’. Sonic saves her...from Crisis City. Which is a stage from the future of Sonic 06. You may think “okay, maybe SEGA just wanted to pay tribute to 06 as well.” and that would be fine, if it weren’t for Blaze stating that she “never thought she’d be here again.” She remembers 06. Theory debunked. This is never mentioned again, in any game ever. It is still canon however.

After that, she appeared in Team Sonic Racing (2019), taking 8 years to appear in a game again...despite it being a spin-off. Nothing happens there really, she’s just there to talk to Silver and Amy who she races against for some reason.

She does appear in IDW, and we now know that the comics are canon to the game timeline. And, I gotta say, I like her there. She hasn’t appeared many times but the writers made those times count. (I think it was Ian who wrote her all of those times, so yeah).

To put it simply, Blaze is a lost opportunity. Talk about having a rough transition into 3D (hehe). SEGA could have used her in many ways and I think they were intending to, they were preparing her for something big. But they didn’t handle her as they were supposed to and this leads to where we are, where Blaze only appears in spin-offs and the comics, as if they are afraid to bring her back in mainline games. They could really capitalize on her character, if used correctly. They could use her as a playable character that uses the boost formula, as a character that has a super form. They could use her world to introduce new level designs, avoiding using Green Hill over and over again, right?

I don’t wanna see her standing on the sidelines, doing nothing. I don’t want her purpose to be mentoring Silver. I don’t want her legacy to be Sonic 06. I don’t her to appear only in dire situations (even though, now that I think about it, she didn’t even appear in Forces despite there being a literal war in Sonic’s world). I don’t want her character development to be forgotten and erased. She was a girl with a unique personality that now feels empty, as if she hides behind the face of being a princess from another dimension and nothing more, barely being Sonic’s or Cream’s friend. Mainly focused on the games right now.

It is said that Blaze is one of the fan-favourite characters of the franchise. But I don’t know if that’s correct. Because I’m not sure if people are a fan of who she is now, of who she is in their minds, or of who she is supposed to be, best depicted in the Rush games. Personally, I believe Blaze still has a lot of uncovered potential that they could take advantage of, so that they can show to everyone who Blaze is supposed to be. Strong and independant, her own character, her own hero.

Hopefully, we get to see more of that in the future. She definitely deserves it.

bc i have a shameless massive crush on sonic the hedgehog i made a list of things sonic would do/how he’d act if you dated him. either romantic or queerplatonic

-nicknames. so many nicknames. mostly goofy ones. his main pet names he uses are “babe” or “baby” bc he finds the others embarrassing (he likes being called them, though.)

-sonic struggles to initiate romantic or queerplatonic contact, and is frequently rather embarrassed by receiving it. but when he's in the mood for touch, he will basically melt into you.

-despite struggling to intentionally be all mushy, he has a habit of picking you up bridal-style to run around with you in his arms. its fun feeling the breeze at such high speeds, and the giant smile he has on his face whenever he runs makes it even better.

- a very good shoulder to cry on. he’s attentive and empathetic, and he’ll just sit there and let you hold him for as long as you need when you have a rough day.

-if you fight alongside him, he's playfully competitive. a "whoever beats up less robots does dishes tonight" challenge is commonplace with him

-gift giving as an act of affection. over time, a lot of silly little knickknacks he’s found along his adventures have made their way into your room.

-he’s kind of bad at expressing his love via words (he’s not as bad as he thinks, he just feels like he never gets his point across) and so he focuses on actions. subtle gestures are common--brushing his hand across yours, a glance in your direction, a hand on your shoulder...little things to let you know he’s there and he cares

-sonic is really good at knowing what people like and will use this to give you exactly what you want or are interested in as gifts.

-sonic tries to be active in his partners hobbies, even if they arent his own. he might not Get It on the level you do, but he's happy with anything that makes you happy

-sonic will put all of his faith into you. he has a habit of masking his pain or negative feelings, but he will put his everything into trusting you and hopes you trust him enough to feel the same

-protective. VERY protective. his friends & family are the most important thing to him, and you're part of that. he'd do anything to keep you safe and is willing to take any blow or fight any battle to protect you

-very encouraging. he knows you have potential in anything you set your mind to and really wants to help you reach it. will spar with you for hours if asked

-sends goofy memes as a sign of affection. a lot involving chao bc he loves them

-a bit of a showoff--he likes looking cool in front of you. he’s winked in your direction during a fight when you’re watching on the sidelines, hoping you notice.

-and if you’re ever interested in kids, sonic would be happy with that. having raised tails pretty much, he’s very good with children (alongside his extreme passion and love for animals & wildlife.)

In the soft morning light, as the sun began to cast its golden hues across the landscape, Sonic watched from the outskirts of the woods as Chris made his way toward Eggman's newly constructed ship. His keen ears picked up snippets of the conversation between Chris and the doctor, though the scientific jargon meant little to him. What he did understand, however, was that this was a one-time opportunity for Chris to return to his own world.

As Chris boarded the ship, Sonic's heart felt heavy. He knew he should have raced forward, bid his friend a proper farewell, and maybe even shared a grin or a thumbs-up to reassure him. But deep down, Sonic understood the gravity of the situation. If he were to approach, to let his emotions run free, it might make Chris hesitate, and that wasn't something Sonic could bear.

So, with remarkable restraint, Sonic made a silent promise to himself to show his goodbye in his own unique way. As the ship's engines roared to life and it began to ascend into the sky, Sonic sprang into action. His cobalt form raced alongside the ship, his eyes locking with Chris's through the small window.

At that moment, time seemed to slow down. Sonic's emerald eyes held warmth and reassurance, his trademark grin touching his lips. "I'll be seein' ya, Chris!" he called out, his voice carrying through the thin barrier of the ship's hull, reaching Chris's ears.

Their gazes remained locked, filled with a multitude of unspoken words. Sonic's farewell was not just a simple goodbye; it was a promise of future reunions, of adventures to come, and the unbreakable bond between them. In those fleeting seconds, the message was conveyed, understood, and treasured.

A wistful smile graced Chris's lips, a delicate veil of melancholy shrouding his eyes. Sonic's vibrant red sneakers skidded to a halt, their rubber soles making a subtle squeak against the ground. He gazed towards the endless path ahead with a bittersweet smile, a gust of wind ruffling his quills like a whispered farewell. Chris was gone, and the world felt a tad emptier without his presence. Sonic's eyes held a hint of nostalgia as he recalled the adventures they'd shared and the bond they'd forged between two worlds. It was an adventure that would forever hold a special place in his heart.

With a final nod to the sky, Sonic swiveled on his heel, each movement an embodiment of the boundless energy he was known for. He sped forward, the terrain a blur beneath his feet, until he came to a halt in front of Eggman, Decoe, Bocoe, and Bokkun.

Upon seeing the blur blur, Decoe, Bocoe, and Bokkun scrambled in an almost synchronized frenzy. Their mechanical movements were an amusing display of chaos, gears and servos whirring in a cacophony of comical desperation.

Decoe pointed a trembling metal finger toward Bocoe. His voice modulated in high-pitched panic as he chirped, "Don't be mad at us for sending Chris home! It's not my fault! Bocoe was the one who pushed the button!"

Bocoe instantly retorted with a staccato burst of mechanical chatter. "No way, it was Bokkun! He's always pressing buttons when he shouldn't!"

Bokkun tried to mount a defense, his voice a flurry of indignant beeps and buzzes. "Not true, guys! It was Decoe! He's the one who has the button-pressing habit!"

Unperturbed, Sonic placed a gloved hand on his hip, his ever-present grin unfading. He turned to Eggman, whose mustache twitched with annoyance. "Well, Egghead," Sonic began, his voice carrying a playful edge. "Never knew you had sentimental feelings."

Eggman huffed indignantly, trying to mask his true emotions beneath layers of bluster. "Sentimental feelings? Sonic, I'll have you know that I consider such emotions to be one of the most repulsive things in existence!"

Sonic's grin widened, and he stretched his tan arms lazily above his head. "Oh really? Aside from your mustache, what else ranks on your 'most repulsive' list?"

Eggman's mustache quivered with indignant outrage as he let out a gasp of offense. He tightened his grip on his jaw, grinding his teeth audibly before jabbing a gloved finger toward Sonic.

"Now let's get one thing straight, Sonic!" Eggman declared with a fiery glint in his tinted glasses. "Our alliance with the Meterax was a matter of a mutual enemy! Now that they're gone, it's back to business! My dream of an Eggman Empire will come true!"

Sonic's trademark grin widened, a picture of nonchalance amidst Eggman's fervor. "Wouldn't have it any other way, Eggman!"

"Look! We're bonding, just the two of us!"

Pairing: Platonic

Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Manipulation, Forced friendship, Forced hanging out, Jealousy, Clingy behavior.

Sonic The Hedgehog, known around the world for being a hero in the fight against Eggman. With being known for a feat like that, you'd think he was perfect. That he was simply a speedy hero with a heart for justice.

It's best not to meet your heroes.

Especially if your heroes turn out to be quite clingy once you meet them. You had met Sonic during one of his big fights against Eggman and became an ally. After that you two were pretty good friends.

Then he wanted to hang out all the time. Even when you said no he was insistent. You barely had time to yourself.

It was as though Sonic had chained himself to you, refusing to let you be your own person.

With how tight his hand was wrapped around your arm, it was similar to chains. He pulled you in every direction he could, encouraging you to enjoy yourself. You needed to be more laidback.

What you really wanted was some time away from him.

"Okay, so, there's this really good chili dog stand we should check out. Then we can chat, maybe even find some adventure! I'm into the fast things but it's fine if you're not comfortable. Really I find any time with you fun!"

You look down at his hand, still wrapped around your arm. If he wanted you comfortable why did he drag you places? Did he just not care?

"That sounds fun, Sonic... but can you please-"

"There it is!"

You're yanked alongside Sonic while he orders some food for you both. You weren't even that hungry. You just wanted to go home-

After food is ordered and picked up, Sonic sits you both down and eagerly starts chowing down. You don't touch your food and lay back. It was nice not to have his hand around your arm anymore.

He was too tight with his grip.

"Look! We're bonding, just the two of us!"

Sonic chimes happily, leaning forward.

"It's nice to just hang out with you once in awhile."

"Yeah... I'm normally not up for one on one hang outs- Especially with someone so famous...."

"Is THAT why I always see you with other friends?"

You notice Sonic's gaze harden for a moment before he shakes it off, giving you a smile. Did he not like others around you?

"Yes... is that wrong?"

"Well, I would like to hang out more like this, personally. You always seem to shy away from me. Do I scare you?"

"You just... draw a lot of attention-"

"Huff, don't pay attention to them!"

He grasps for your hand again, making you dread being here again.

"Just focus on us! Just two friends hanging out. Why should others worry about it?"

You look away nervously, Sonic frowning.

"Oh... you are REALLY upset about this-"

". . ."

"Tell you what..."

He leans in, touching your nose playfully with his finger.

"If anyone tries to bother us, I'll tell them off for you. Right now, I just want your attention on me."

He smiles, but his words had a threatening tone.

"Now, come on. It's time to have fun, isn't it?"

You didn't want to, but you didn't have much of a choice.

Sonic didn't seem like the person to threaten someone. Let alone friends you shared for trying to hang out with you. From what you could tell, Sonic was jealous.

Even if Tails was just inviting you to chat while he tinkers, Sonic would butt in. Those green eyes were stormy. Holding jealousy he had trouble hiding....

His hang outs with you were much more forceful the more he saw you with others. It was very unlike the hedgehog to do this. You tried asking about it and he dodged the question. Until you pressed more.

"Honestly, I just wish you'd hang out more with me, y'know?"

"I know... it's just-"

"Just what? (Y/N), be honest, you don't like hanging out anymore... do you?"

"No, it's not that-"

"Then what is it, (Y/N)?"

"We hang out so often... I just want a break-"

Sonic sighs and frowns.

"But you hang out with the others-"

You refuse to continue talking, turning away.

"... You're clingy, Sonic-"

"Clingy?"

You feel him wrap his arms around you, emphasizing your point.

"Please get off me...."

"We're super close friends! Come on, (Y/N)- You're just so nice to hang around! How about this, one more day out with each other then I'll leave you alone?"

You look into his eyes, he's begging. You sigh, exhausted. You knew he wouldn't keep his promise...

But you were out of ideas.

"Fine...."
