Your asks are back! Im prolly gonna send a few tomorrow bc its late and i have many idea but an idea that Wont Let Me Go:

Danny gets caught by his parents. They dissect him and jazz is the one to free him, but he has to go. Now. But where does he go?

Gotham. The drs fenton went there once and caused enough chaos to be banned from the city or else risk arkham. Its the one place they might not find him.

Danielle goes with him. Maybe shed hunkered down in gotham for a bit, maybe shes passing by amity when sht hits the fan. Either way, its her and danny. They figure it wont be too hard to get by. Break into an empty apartment and hide out there until they get caught, couldnt be too hard, right?

Too bad the building they go for is the one jason stays in, as a civillian, and hes got every apartment on his floor so that the risk of a neighbor seeing him as hood is minimal. Jason has to figure out how these kids got into the apartment and who is making them spy on red hood.

He does this by giving them the one thing kids in need cant afford to turn down- free meals. He invites them over to cook and teaches them how, both to see what hes dealing with and give them those skills once theyre out of whatever situation theyre in.

This goes on for a while before jason had the horrifying realization.

Hes turing into Bruce. Two kids in need with black hair and blue eyes who tense up when vigilantes are brought up? Hes never going to live this down. Probably frantically texts dick(?) About how hes turing into bruce and then doesnt elaborate

Unbeknowst to him, theyve secretly been "treating" him by acting as filters/replacing some of his extoplasm so he can be sure of his control over his feelings. This doesnt necessarily make him 100% calm all of the time, he still gets angry pretty easily, but. Jason gets control of himself back.

As they get closer they start being significantly more domestic. Somehow nobody has crashed jasons apartment while theyre there (they dip invisibly) and jasons relationship with bruce has improved as he no longer has to worry about pit rage taking over. Hes trying to figure out how to break the news to bruce that hes a grandfather even though he hasnt officially adopted them yet.

Dani, on the other side of town, is gossiping with a cool girl at the library named barbara about how shes been trying to figure out how to tell her neighbor that Hes Her Dad Now.

(Danny doesnt call him dad. He cant, anymore. But theyre still family)

Jason decides to introduce the topic of them meeting bruce (because 1. even though its still rocky their relationship has improved and 2. He wants it to be on his terms) and dani bursts out with the "I have a GRANDPA???????" and from there on commits to calling jason her dad and bruce (unmet) her grandpa.

Bruce meets them first and is just. In awe. He has grandchildren. His emotional constipation vs his absolute adoration of the fact hes a GRANDPARENT fight fight fight.

When danny and dani eventually meet everyone theyre all like oh sick bruce picked up a duo this time nice to meet you. And they absolutely cannot comprehend it when bruce and jason walk in and dani goes to jason first. Nobody expected jason to take on bruces adoption tendencies but they should have.

(Also fun hc i couldnt work in naturally but i do fully stand by- the ectoplasm in dannys body does affect his injuries somewhat, meaning he heals naturally very quickly from most ghost fights. Why?

It heales based on emotional healing.

He doesnt really care all too much about the average cut from one of his rogues and they heal within the day, but a hit from valerie takes a few weeks.

The first injury his parents ever gave him still hurts.

He can barely move and cant talk for the first few weeks with jason. Only once he starts feeling safe with him do the cuts start coming back together.)

The casualness of “hi so glad your asks came back” [drops at least 1k worth of fucking stellar content that’s basically a fic] is just making me truly awestruck. God I’ve missed seeing y’all’s neat ideas.

I dont have any words that I can say that could describe just how wonderful this is so I’ll write a lil addition to it instead because I am in love with this sm.

Jason’s point of view when he’s slowly getting better and isnt afraid to meet his family because of the pit rage, has he explained that’s the reason he distanced himself? Do the bats just think that this is simply Jason finally getting the courage to reach out? Do they know that the Pit rage is stopping Jason and do they try to help him by using alternative means of communication? How much do they help and understand.

When Jason experiences his first injury. How much does it hurt? Valerie shoots him with an ectogun. How much is this man in pain for and does he have to fight pit rage inside him to not lash out and attack her after being injured?

And how does his core react to his new kids. This I NEED to know

Hey! Hi, sorry if I'm a little late answering but it's been a crazy as weekend election day and 24h of work and this fucking country has to make all fucking impossibile and nobody never learns nothing becausd history doesn't teach shit and i have't sleep enough yet but I picked your question before the all mess and I had a little time to think about it! They're pretty random and very not linear bc my brain is still a little scrambled 🥲

During his 14th and 15th birthday Tom spent the whole year with his granma because his dad was away and it's one of his happiest memory of his teen hood. It meant going around the house with his wings free and sleeping on soft blankets that smelled like home and not the Navy generic detergent. He used to help his granma baking bread every Friday and even if he wasn't allow to participate to the dinner, it's not a dinner dad it-// I don't give a fuck Thomas, because Friday meant his dad was back to take him "home" for the weekend. It meant wings around his chest and yes sir and no sir once a day;

During the last stretch of winter spent with his granma she made him a pillow with all the feathers he lost during the grooming. Tom, then Ice, takes it with him everywhere and it's the only true possession he never, ever, leave behind not even during deployment;

When Carole starts to call Bradley Nick, during her last few months of life, Mav is out for a three days tour and some fucking secret mission and Tom doesn't know what to do. It's then, between an icecream that taste like nothing in particular and an homemade meal that he shows the kid his wings. It's of a little comfort but for a night, at least, they talk and think about something else and Bradley goes to sleep smiling;

Tom almost shows them to Bill, six months in their relationship, but the tought is born and dead in less than a day because that same night, in front of a beer and the entire squadron, Bill introduces them to his fiancé;

After Goose's death Ice takes Ron up in the sky for hours, until his shoulder aren't sore and they both stopped crying;

Mav likes to sleep cocooned between Ice's chest and his wings and he kisses the center of his back every day before work;

Mav names some of the feathers and every time they groom his wings it's a green tragedy of wHY GUENDALINE HAD TO DIE, NO MARINE NOT YOU TO! SAVE YOURSELF ALFRED YOU STILL HAVE TIME!!!!!! And fuck if it makes Ice cry for how much he laughs, every single time. Ever after thirty six years of repeating their little ritual;

Tom's feathers are white but Mav insistes the sun makes them golden and the moon silver. Honestly Mav could say his wings are green and he would still have a dumb smiles on his face or at least that what Slider says (and boy if he's right);

Mav calls him angel-boy sometimes, Tom finds it more ironic than sweet and one night he explains that Bill used to call him is little freaky angels because he never fucked him without his shirt on. Mav swears he's going to punch that sonofbitch the next time he sees him (and he does. In a bar, during short leave, Tom isn't even around but he does it the same);

Ice stop flying jets when he accept his third promotion at admiral but never stops flying with his wings, after he learned how. Age makes him graceful in a way he wouldn't have imagine;

They say, their superiors and their fellow aviators, that Maverick is the dangerous one and Iceman should loose him before he kills Tom's carrier. What they don't know is that with his feet on the ground and phone at reach Thomas Kazansky is the scariest motherfucker ever existed. And it goes even worst when his wings are out and that doesn't happen much;

Cancer doesn't touch him but for months he can't fly and they don't know why. It's scares them to death and doesn't come. Tom lives, Pete flies and screams in the night or behind is cockpit and Bradley runs;

But he comes back, two months later and so many apologies the doesn't stop talking for days. He's eighteen and the Navy accepted him at Annapolis and he's scared shit because he can't loose Ice just like he did with his mom. They take Bradley back to the therapist and they stay because they all need to talk about their individual stuff;

They get married in the spring of '91 and Mav takes them, for their honeymoon, on a small island in the middle of the Indian Ocean and Ice flys with his wings and Mav on a plane and it's the best honeymoon ever. Ice comes back with the tan of a lifetime and they are both grateful they have another week of vacation before going back to work because they can't take their hands of each other;

Slider and Iceman's jet gets shoot down over the north of Russia during '95 and it's a miracle his captures don't discover his wings. Most of it is because Ron puts himself between them and him. Nothing happens to them but after three months of having his wings strap around his chest and the paramedics want to touch them and he screams until Maverick isn't in front of him with the only doctor he trust and knows, it's a slow recovery;

'02 is the year they think they're done and it's the point of not return for them. Mav is at the hospital again because he doesn't care for his safety enough to get home alive and Ice is working a triple shift because they're short on instructors at top gun and Bradley is picking fights with every single classmate who can fight him back. Mav comes back to an empty home and a letter from Ice that says he's at Slider and he's going to be back in a couple of days. Then it's a week than two and they're in a screaming match everytime they see eachother until they don't talk at all because Mav is back in deployment and Ice doesn't know what to do. (They solve it all because when Mav comes back Tom is grooming his wings sitting on the floor of their bedroom. Mav sits down in front of him when Hi Tom, before caressing his wings. Hey Pete he smiles, small and sad breaking his and Mav's heart. It's an uncomfortable night for most part because talking is difficult but when mornings comes Tom is kissing Pete good morning and Pete's arms are around his waist);

They marry again in 2011, the moment the DADT is repealed. It's less fancy than the first one and it's only the two of them and a random clerk as their testimony. They spend a week in Arizona and Ice takes him up in the sky and they see the Gran Canyon like that. Mav takes the most spectacular photos of the world.

SLAMS MY HANDS DOWN!! spoilers below for my pals who haven't seen a.tsv yet! we're talking about miguel, the disaster man himself!

if you're a personal blog, do not reblog this or i'm biting your ankles.

hello, hi, i've got some thoughts on miguel that'll probably be better supported once i read through his comics, but!! i've been thinking about miguel and the introduction of his character, how he says he doesn't always like what he has to do, but he knows he has to do it bc he's lost too much to stop. we find out he's talking about his daughter. from another dimension or not, he still loses her after forming an attachment to her, and this causes him to become our antagonist for more than one reason. but let's back up a lil bit.

when we first meet miguel, we see he can be quippy, funny -- he's still clearly not a happy-go-lucky kinda guy, but he doesn't appear quite as harsh as he is with miles. we even see him go against his original decision to leave gwen behind, even if it's at jessica's prompting. he's swayed bc he can't ignore her predicament, feels sympathy bc like her, there's some stuff he doesn't know how to fix either.

miguel knows she hasn't experienced all of her canon events bc her dad is police chief and alive. he knows she's close to miles. he knows she's a liability, but against his better judgement, he lets her join. he doesn't always like what he does, and sometimes he just can't do it. sometimes he's faced with the individual, and he can't follow through, leave someone behind to fend for themselves.

i think this is absolutely the case with his daughter gabriella. he found that universe where he was happy with a daughter, and initially he was just watching over what could have been. it was harmless if not painful at times. but then he's murdered in this other dimension, and he knows he should stay out of it. if he died, it was supposed to happen. but he can't leave it alone. he can't leave gabriella alone to fend for herself. so he takes a risk to save the individual -- he thinks about the person rather than the world.

and it ends up biting him in the ass. he loses gabriella and her world, singlehandedly ( so we assume at this point, at least ) causing their destruction by simply taking the place of that dimension's miguel and disrupting his canon death. he realizes then that he can't let himself prioritize the individual. he has to prioritize the world, no matter how much he'll hate it at times, because he'd rather feel guilt over a million uncle ben's than a million universes with billions of people in each one.

whereas miles has to learn in the first movie to focus saving on one person vs. the world, miguel has to learn the inverse, and it sucks. he doesn't always like what he does, but he knows he has to do it because either 1. nobody else will ( and he can't exactly blame them ) or 2. he can't ask anybody else to do it. " being spider-man is a sacrifice, " and he's already lost his daughter, seen first-hand what meddling in the canon leads to. he'll make the sacrifice of making those tough decisions if it means nobody else has to lose their dimension.

which is why things go so far off the frikkin rails with miles. i don't think miguel recruits spiders who haven't gone through certain losses ( with some exceptions like gwen and pav ) bc he knows it'll cause conflict when they find out they have to let certain people die. that's exactly what happens with miles, and bc he's the original anomaly, bc miguel and co. still don't know what might happen if he saves his dad, bc miguel is scared and can only think of the day he lost gabriella, he... chases down a teenager and gets waaaay too heated. he definitely projects some of his own guilt upon miles bc he wouldn't have ever known about gabriella's universe if not for all this anomaly business. he wouldn't have gotten her killed if he'd never needed to help put the multiverse back in order.

in the end, though, it's still miguel's own fault. he knew better, he knows better, and all he can do is try to stop miles.

#oh i am not proofreading this rn so if you see a typo no you don't asdfg #also to be clear i'm not saying it's okay that miguel reacted the way he did with miles!! i'm just trying to explain his mindset #and also point out that he's not just a brooding character -- he's got soft spots like anybody does #and he really does want to be able to save the one person but he just can't #the trade off could be an entire universe and he can't live with that #ANYWAY!!! let me stop bc i just wrote seven paragraphs about this dude asdfgh #headcanons | miguel

family drama update (spoiler: it’s not even drama anymore, it’s straight up child abuse)

i went to see my dad in montenegro for a couple of days (should’ve been a week but i couldn’t stand it anymore so i took a night bus to sarajevo to escape this mess lol) and thing are worse than ever.

first of all, he looks terrible. he drinks a bottle of vodka every day + beer and wine in gigantic quantities. his face is all red, he has like red spots and acne everywhere. and weird thing to say but alcohol makes you pee, right? but he like... never goes to the bathroom. like ever. i think his kidneys are all fucked up. and overall he looks terrible.

his wife is the same, she drinks even more than the last time i visited them. when everyone goes to bed she goes downstairs and drinks by herself. it’s so bad.

and also i accidentally discovered a whole ass cupboard full of bottles. i thought they only drank what was visible like in the kitchen cabinets but no, they have bottles hidden all over the house.

and... they have a one and a half year old! :)))))))))))))))))))

on the bright side, the baby is healthy i think. she’s super smart. she can eat by herself with a fork, she can say mama and papa, overall i had a very good impression. compared to other kids her age she’s developing very well! and she’s super cute! they hired a nanny who comes every day and she’s a wonderful lady, im v happy that there’s that at least.

but here’s the not so fun part. the parents don’t care about the baby at all. the mum is apathetic at best and annoyed at worst. she doesn’t play with her daughter, doesn’t express her love in any way. anytime the baby says “mama”, she rolls her eyes and asks my dad or the nanny to take her. it’s heartbreaking to watch bc she’s drunk all the time. and seeing an innocent baby reach out to her is just... heartbreaking. oh and she’s still breastfeeding. oh and also, sidenote, they have no baby seat in the car! when they drive around the baby is by herself with no seatbelt, just crawling around at the back seat.

my dad and his wife hate each other. it’s super toxic. bc the only way they can bear being around each other is when they’re drunk. and even then, they’re always insulting each other, swearing and stuff. being around them is the most stressful thing. last time i came to visit they were throwing wine glasses at each other, it was so bad. they can’t stand each other, but they’re so interdependent nothing can change. so my dad is just... killing himself slowly... which i didn’t care about before because hey his life his choice. but now that they have a child idk what to do.

they both told me on two separate occasions that the plan is to give me the baby “if anything happens”. and judging by the situation, that “anything” is gonna happen quite soon. i have no idea how im gonna be able to take care of a child in the near future. and plus my bf i strongly against it bc he doesn’t want to have a problem child who’s gonna mess things up in our own family when we have kids. so where is this baby gonna go? she has no one except for me: my dad’s wife isolated him from his family and his whole family hates him, the two of them have no reliable friends bc of their alcoholism (or any friends to be honest), etc. who else is going to take the baby when both of them eventually die or are too deep into alcoholism to function? i can definitely raise her and give her a better life, in theory. but im 23, living in a studio flat with no stable income. and legally, how would that even work?

so yeah... should i try to change things? how can i do anything in this situation? is it all beyond saving and should i just watch my dad slowly kill himself? do i have the mental strength to save anyone? and is it even my place to save anyone? it was bad already but now their toxic relationship created an unwanted child that nobody wants to take care of. what the fuck.

Nobody wants to see a repeat of the exact same story ALL the time. Personally i find it weird and annoying and its posting etiquette which is a actual thing, look it up. If someone is not showing your face in a post, doesn’t matter if you are there, why would you go and post the exact same thing not just something similar? Or post to let it known that you were there. Yes they should say something but shes not a child straight into the social media womb, must her hand be held through everything?

They went out to dinner with Kats dad and he posted the food as did Sam. Kat didnt even post about it yet she goes and posts mention not only that shes there but where they were. He posts the dogs and throughout it you keep hearing her trying to talk to make her presence known (someones filming they shouldnt have to tell you to pipe down), then goes and posts the exact same thing. Not just the dogs playing, not Colby playing with ‘em but her doing the same thing. It reminds me of an annoying younger siblings that must do everything the older one does. With his room, come now… she couldnt have started recording once at the window? Its not her room and she just HAD TO get an image of her walking to the window and showing both windows to showcase she was in his room. She has been gatekeeping photos of just them two from edc and hmmm i wonder why? Look at her twitter, you really think he didnt say something? She promised Colby photos not core4. She deleted the tweet that said “i gotchu” regarding it. She has a subscription and somehow her fans know where they’ll be in Europe when once again the boys are staying mysterious about. Colby had literal stalkers, the boys have had break ins, if they chose to tell their sub service they’ll be in the UK, thats on them, thats not a green light for then her to say where they’ll be or for how long to the unsubbed masses. Remember someone not long ago mentioned florida BEFORE it was announced Kat was doing playlist?, who do you think sold “core4 florida” to the fans??? Because it wasnt Kat. Now they’re saying Australia so wouldnt be surprised if in a few you hear snc mention it and her tag along again.

On your question about posting the same thing.Ive seen this issue with literal people before, shoot from different angles but not the same angle same image. Also wait to post dont do it back to back especially if the audience is the same. Plus just because you’re in the same environment doesn’t mean you HAVE TO post the same thing to show you are there. If your presence or someone elses is being kept a wrap then the proper thing to do is not post it but she does not miss a chance this one. He can post a pic of his white claw and you can almost on cue expect her to post the exact same thing right after. Personally not just from a social posting stance, but i’d be annoyed as hell.

i'm so sorry, but… posting etiquette? that's not an actual thing. it's the internet for god's sakes. also, there are no rules to when you want to post and whether or not your friends just posted the same thing. that's all made up.

she's literally only done this a couple times max, i don't see the issue. it's not like she's trying to copy their exact story, and then pass it off as hers. she's in the same place as them, possibly next to them, and films the same thing. why is that a problem? even if her audience is the same as theirs, do you think a majority care?

and again, if it was an issue to snc or kat, then they would handle it. clearly they either don't notice (probably bc they don't care) or… they don't care.

and the post of colby playing with the dogs, that she later posted something quasi similar, isn't that strange to me. they're at a party at a friend's house. they were both playing with the dogs, or at the very least seated next to each other. why would she have to be quiet at a party, when there was music and other ppl talking in the background?

and her in his room, again, i don't think it's all that deep. she might have just wanted to post the front like he did. in this instance, sure, she did copy him. but again, i don't think it's that big of a deal.

the edc thing i never saw but i can see it happening. i remember her saying she had pics from edc she never posted, and she still hasn't. maybe he told her to not post the extra pics, maybe she forgot and so she deleted the reply, maybe she deleted the reply bc the pics weren't good enough to post. idk.

if she is outright telling fans where she is, more so than just saying "oh we're in this town" but giving out info on the place they're staying at or investigating, that's a bit weird. someone should tell her to chill on that. snc have said to us on xplrclub vaguely where they're gonna be, but again, if she's going above and beyond just tagging the town they're in, then someone should tell her to stop.

personally, besides the last thing, i don't see this as an issue. if she wanted to post verbatim the same thing as snc and kat for the next 100 years, then she can do that. bc unless snc and kat tell her to chill, it's not an issue to them. they see her stories, they follow her. and if she was told to chill and keeps crossing a boundary, again, it's on them to either cut her out or lay down the law harder.

this post just making me think abt something for, like, the 10th time today....

this got so fucking long ahhh i am just. justifying all this to myself as im unpacking where the feeings are coming from jsdfkhs glad i have a psych session next week, guess i know what we're gonna talk abt!!

i was rly generally frustrated this afternoon and got a message to pop around for last minute planning for the help/work im doing for mum's friend for the next few weeks. and like yeah i know that it is generally within my range of abilities, i know that most times i help 'em out like this it's Fine and occasionally even Fun, i know that if im Not Well or anything else i can text and say look can't do it today sorry and that'll be accepted!!!

but. whenever i am asked to Do these things (dog sit / dog walk / plant-sit&garden, etc) for "neighbours" and friends there's like......... they KNOW im unemployed and they KNOW i've done it before so there's this feeling of an unspoken expectation that i WILL say yes, i will agree to do it when and as asked.

and ig to some extent it's reasonable for any of them to think 'she's been happy to do it before so there's good odds she'll probably, hopefully, do it again!' and they're never DEMANDING abt it or anything so maybe it is, at least coming from the 'employer' in each case, mostly just ~in my head~ n something i'm seeing/feeling/projecting that's not Actually in there

but idk when i HAVE had jobs in the past (waitress, cleaner, babysitter, tutor, library assistant) if i got ~called in~ the day before i uhhhh could say no. and would say no. and i didn't feel bad abt it i didn't care like i had a (casual, but pre-planned) roster and i've been fortunate enough that saying 'no, i can't' didn't lose me those scheduled shifts or the job as a whole, i know that. but bc this isn't an ~official~ job there's no structure it's just a 'get a text 1wk-to-12hrs before, help a neighbour, get twenty bucks' kinda deal each time it feels like i HAVE TO say yes. if i don't have some other thing already planned, i have to say Yeah Sure or im evil and horrible and the worst and should be ashamed

excepttttttttt i think. a lot of that. comes from my mum lmao always a fun connection to make. bc i made some exasperated comment mostly to myself during that frustrated moment this afternoon and she was like "well what do you mean? why can't you do it? why would you say no? did you WANT to say no? it's not like you have much else going on... it's not even hard why wuold---" etc etc and dad isn't quite so expressive, ever, but less and less so as the PD continues to wear away at him & his speech in more obvious ways, but has similar sentiments. and like.... just bc THEY can't/won't say no to stuff doesn't mean i shouldn't????? mum will say she needs a week to herself and then 10minutes later has agreed to be a TRT (substitute teacher) for 3.5days that week. dad just thinks 'you do a job until it's done. you get asked to do a job, you do that til it's done' and like let's not even THINK abt the way that has worn each of them down physically and emotionally at different times, including now. like they just view Work and the related Expectations/Obligations differently, i guess? whether that's a generational thing, a ND (me) vs NT thing, a 'farmer and air force electrician' and 'lifelong teacher' and 'we both moved out at 16/17 and supported ourselves from that point on / u can't get something from nothing' thing. i have forgotten where this was going jfc

anyway. the dog will be a lil moody if i don't visit her for a couple hours & go for a walk, but she'll be fine. the plants can be watered by someone else, or - esp in the current weather - just miss a day, they'll bounce back later. me doing these things when asked is not, like, the key to holding the fabric of the universe together. nobody's life is gonna come apart at the seams bc i said 'oh, sorry, i won't be able to d that today/this week'.

and i shouldn't actually have to explain why! maybe i have a migraine and can't stand up straight. maybe i'm having a gastrointestinal Hell Episode. maybe i threw up overnight and am still very distressed abt it. maybe i haven't slept in 48hrs. maybe it's windy and im teetering on the verge of a panic attack and rly cannot be outside in it. maybe it's PMDD time and i know i don't have the patience to interact with another being especially not in a way where im solely responsible for it. maybe im bleeding heavily and cramping to the extreme on and off without warning. maybe i haven't been able to get out of bed all week because i just dont want to exist. MAYBE i just! don't! wanna!

and idt it's fair that anyone says or acts in a way that suggests im doing something Very Wrong or Shameful or Disappointing (there's a difference between, 'oh, that's disappointing, but thanks for letting me know' disappointment & 'why would you do that? what are you thinking?' disappointment, which is the kind i mean). is it gonna be fine most times if i agree to it even when i don't rly want to? yes. it's always mostly fine-ish. it's nto abt avoiding it out of anxiety or whatever like im not nervous abt walking this mini daschund that adores me. im not nervous abt watering plants that are essentially the same as my own at home. it's just, like, weighing up 'would doing this likely improve my mood/day? will it probably just be a non-impact kinda deal? what are the odds it makes me / my day worse?' each time (knowing when my psych appts are, when my period is and general mood shifts during my cycle, how my sleep and mood have been in the day/s before the 'shift', weather, etc etc etc) and determining which is likely to be the most effective and useful (or neutral, sometimes) option for me in that case!

and if that reason is just 'ehhh i really just Dont Want It today/tomorrow' that is also fine, actually

One time my dad's appendix was unhappy so he left the farm but there was no hospital in the village so he had to go to the town nearby but they didn't have an anesthesiologist so they sent him to another nearby town but while they had an anesthesiologist they didn't have any anesthetic so the anesthesiologist himself had to DRIVE HIMSELF ALL THE WAY TO the big city to get anesthesia to do the operation back in the town. Dad should have just gone to the city in the first place.

At first I didn't realize this was like four months later but it makes sense now bc the show was on hiatus over the summer like all her figurines & the chair she keeps there, for anyone but mostly for castle. We’re back with our guest, and a new player who’s just sitting in to listen tonight.

I had a DM-to-DM chat with my bestie’s dad last night about how to deal with a cheating PC and since talking has failed so far we’re going to try some of his suggestions

Asahi’s PC had trouble getting set up, so we just took to chatting about back-up PCs and how that party is basically shaping up to be the Evil One

Bagelby’s Player’s backup: Label, Bagelby’s long-lost, lawful-evil, lvl. 7 rune knight child-soldier twin brother.

August’s Player, banging their hands on the table: “Can you break-dance fight??”

Evil party so far: An eco-terrorist, a grown-up child soldier, an identity-stealing con artist, a warlock who lapses into murderous semi-conscious when she levels up and sacrifices someone to her patron, and a vampire dentist who is literally the only nice one.

Bagelby’s Player: “Label has absolutely sold his soul to the Sunfell Cult.”

At least two of these back-up characters are aligned to an Archfey who’s a sworn nemesis of the Taker of the Lost purely bc he’s been accidentally encroaching on their territory for the past two years.

Asahi’s Player can’t get her voice-chat working, so she typed all of her moves tonight.

Bagelby: “I don’t think we should kill Drokk. Maybe he can change?”

The rest of the party, laughing: “No.”

Asahi cast Thunderwave in the middle of battle, not realizing that everyone was basically crowded on top of each other.

I’m side-eying every ‘nat 20’ Thiori’s Player rolls now SO HARD and I don’t like this feeling

Most of the party failed the Con save, but nobody fell off (thank Skaadi).

“Your fists may miss their mark, but your words do not; you give a scathing critique of his social policy.”

The instant I tried to lay down some restrictions on Thiori’s actions without being blatant (why are you swinging a 10ft glaive over your head all fancy like when everyone’s crowded in the same 6-10ft tornado?!) his player began to rules lawyer me in my own damn campaign holy HECK do I hate this feeling

Bagelby: “I’m gonna send Pedro into the fray-“

The party: “THE RETURN OF PEDRO!”

Sir Carl Jaeger’s crow/raccoon griffon lost an eye to Marrow-Eater.

Bagelby cast True Strike on Drokk in preparation to put him in time out with the Time Out Knife, and learned both his and Marrow-Eater’s current HP and AC.

I should not be dreading Thiori’s turn like this.

Me: “You have….four rounds of falling before you hit the lake.”

Thiori’s Player: “Well actually-“

“For health insurance, that griffon will do anything for you.”

For story reasons, Drokk needs to live, so on his turn, Marrow-Eater broke away from the party and flew out over the lake.

August got an attack of opportunity and managed to chop of his pinky finger, which Ena promptly caught with Mage Hand bc we can’t go a single session without collecting body parts.

“…and now you have a bloody Orc pinky finger.”

I now ship Thiori’s griffon and Sir Carl Jaeger’s griffon.

SnowWing has no interest in taking the egg August has, so August is keeping it (despite also making a valiant effort to tame SnowWing for herself).

Two of the Rookery guards the party curb stomped were waiting for them when they all landed, purely because I needed someone else there to properly put away all the griffon gear and push along some very, VERY back burner story elements.

Bagelby: “Hello, Chain Mail Jock Strap Man! My name is Bagelby, and I’m from the Feywilds!”

Sir Carl Jaeger: “…..hello.”

At last! Proper introductions to Sir Carl Jaeger!!

Sir Carl Jaeger asked all the important questions, like “what are your goals here?”, “what brought you to the city?”. I love him.”

August and Asahi both recognize the symbol of SCJ’s family, due to their own noble connections and relations.

The party all went out to meet up with Vashael, and immediately began initiating Sir Carl Jaeger into the prince hazing tradition.

Ena’s Player: *makes a joke about Michael topping Vashael*

Me: *not answering*

Ena’s Player: wait wAIT DOES HE??

Thiori’s Player wanted to drop a keg-sized molotov cocktail on the next target, and until Ena’s Player spoke up to tell him “NO THERE’S CIVILIANS IN THERE” I was watching all my plans for a semi-stealth mission go up in flames.

Thiori then fell off the dragon bus bc he was too busy making a molotov cocktail to hold on, though he managed to hold on to Vashael’s leg.

Ena also fell off the dragon bus, but managed to hold on to Thiori’s leg.

Bagelby, who fell of the dragon bus two times last session, held on the best.

We wrapped up with Vashael flying through the smokescreen of the burning city towards the mayor’s house. We’ll pick up again next week, and see what becomes of my stealth mission!

Let’s jump right in:

Kinda love how Kara lamp-shaded addressed the fact she didn't tell the gang about her adventures in the PZ. She’s not wrong, tho.

...what do I want to say about Mxy using what's basically a well-known gay-anthem to tell his tale? I mean, it didn’t lead anywhere. The original song is about freeing oneself, liberation, stepping out of a (gone bad) relationship and moving on, stronger for it - empowerment. The only connection I could make, is that originally it was Nyxly’s aim to just do that (freeing herself and her kind from an oppressor), but in the way Mxy performed it, that part of the parallel was long over before he even reached the chorus. It’s also a popular Karaoke song, tho, so... he chose it because it’s catchy? I’ll try not to overthink it for now. At least, the Superfriend’s reactions were fun.

Nia exiting the elevator, "And what's this Old Stone?" I love it when ppl enter a room / situation and pick up on words that they couldn't have possibly heard. I think cinema sins ding such... Are we to assume, she dreamed Mxy's rendition of ‘I will survive’? Or is the elevator not sound-proof at all? (If it’s the latter, Nia later apparently telling Brainy “in private” between scenes / during the elevator ride about her Nyxly adventures, was a silly thing to do.)

So, "Jared" created the ring Old Stone to rule them all, it got shattered into the Paragons totems? Nyxly needs the totems and to get them she needs a crystal which also belonged to "Jared" - who happens to be Mxy's ancestor, which is why she needs Mxy / his blood, too.

I have one important and incredibly relevant question here, tho...

With the introduced imps and their names... Why’s dude named Jared of all things?!

Not sure what to make about Supergirl paraphrasing a Dirty Dancing quote. "Nobody puts Mxy into a power crystal on my watch." ...is he Baby now? (Seriously, though: Which of the writers thought that was a fitting quote to use in that particular context?)

Sensitive Brainy sensed something was up with Nia. He can relate... Nia doubting Kara would understand, too, is ridiculous. But I get it... insecurities and all. But, I mean, just 5 minutes later Kara announces she wants to save Nyxly despite her wrongdoings. And yet Nia still remains convinced, Kara wouldn’t forgive her own personal mini-me... After having witnessed Kara forgiving Lena for a whole season of the writers being stupid messing up to the nth degree. But I digress, Lena’s Lena.

...how old is Nia meant to be again? Just asking out of completely unrelated curiosity.

F*ck. They really went with NewFoundland...

Imma assume it was an executive choice after realizing they couldn’t find enough actors and actresses with a convincing Irish accent... maybe. Again, no offense to Newfoundland! Just... we got the insinuations of Ireland, not Newfoundland... And truthfully, when I think of magic, Ireland is an easy association. Whereas I only due to this whole debacle learned Newfoundland has Irish ancestry. So, okay, the show forced me to learn something new... I give ‘em that.

An easy journey, she said.

Lena's been off-screen for two whole episodes, Kara announcing at the beginning of ‘Dreamweaver’ [6x09] Lena being “back east” (at least insinuating Lena’s left the west-coast already), which span over at least one full day (feat. a scene at night), and ‘I still rise’ [6x10] at least another a whole day (the whole Nia’s mom back for a day deal). And, now, after at least 48 hours she barely just arrived.

Lemme check how long a regular plane would need to fly from California to NFL......... ... .. .. So... approx. 10 hours with at least one layover.

Yeah, using a private jet made it easier, but apparently also much, much slower...

Or, Lena randomly went some other places / did some sight-seeing in NFL before she decided to finally visit her mother’s hometown... [Either that or the timelines don’t match up and Lena’s scenes are flashbacks of sorts.]

Optimistic and relaxed Lena is a sight to behold. I rewound 3 times, just to enjoy it for as long as possible. We all knew it was going to be short-lived...

Let’s check off a few more items...

Andrea being Lena's rock is both great and annoying. I can't fault Andrea. It's just, that we still have to see an on-screen interaction between Lena and Kara and that bugs the heck out of me. I can’t help it. I’m sorry, Andrea.

Kara forgiving Nia came as a surprise to her... Oooookay. I mean, the show has been writing Kara a bit inconsistently the past two seasons... so, yeah, maybe being unsure which of her traits apply this week was not such a far stretch...

Maybe it's the hair, but I wished, Florence was played by Alex Kingston.

So, not-Alex-Kingston shows Lena herself with a funny wig and tells her how her mother was still watching her...

If it wasn't for Katie's acting skills (I love her.) I would have already hit my head against the wall repeatedly. Something about these scenes had me constantly cringe and I made it through 5.5 seasons of this show already... Can’t quite put my finger on it, but it was highly distracting from the story that explained Lena’s mom was special even to another witch, where there was domestic abuse, and an accidental murder. Y’know, important stuff, deep-cutting stuff!

At least, poor widddle Lena got some closure there. Elisabeth was a good cookie. And filled with magic. And Lena’s gotta have that ‘spark’, too...

....so... Lena’s gonna stay in NFL for how much longer, to train becoming a witch? Please, just hand her a how-to manual and send her back home, to figure it out on her own, please... (Yes, that would be horrible decision-making, but I need her back with the team!)

On to the finish line:

So... Mxy IS Nyxly's brother? Wait, that doesn’t sound right... then Nyxly would have the same blood... Did I miss something? Can someone explain, please? Or is he her ex, and that’s where his rendition of “I will survive” makes sense?

Hnn... I can't help, but think Kara's speech for Nyxly was 85% based on her experiences with Lena in s05.

Awww... he said "stronger together"... Mxy... I hope, you'll be okay!

Lena believes in magic now. And I absolutely love how Lena wants to science magic XD

...but apparently magic isn’t science that hasn’t been explained yet, but parallel... powers? concepts? ether strings?

Nyxly has a loyal henchman now. Which was a bit heavy-handed. Took way too much of screen-time, so it better leads to something interesting.

And Kara is on a warpath now. Wooooot! Girl’s got enough.

Did I miss a third Patrick Swayze hint / quote / mention? I learned, these things come in threes... Y’know, basic writing rules...

I guess, for once the episode title was meant to be taken literally, Mxy popping up between characters, to try and help. (I need in-show footage, of Mxy sneaking up on ppl, without his powers, on all fours / crouched, just to get the desired effect.) I mean, I’ve never really watched Malcom, but wasn’t he like what Mxy usually is? A bit of a trouble-maker, prankster, chaos-ensuing wherever he goes? ...well, in that case, the episode title didn’t hold up, as Mxy’s scenes were not fun or really goofy. Yes, there was some superficial humor, but just to serve Mxy dealing with not being able to use his powers, which in turn was only barely scratched at (although it turned out to be his final character development crisis, appreciating not having powers and - in turn - facing consequences for once). Again, a whole lot going on in the episode, so a lot of that may have ended up on the cutting-room floor.

...where’s Kelly? Secretly adopting a kid, maybe?

...Kara’s still a reporter, right? I mean, whenever it serves the immediate plot, yes? ...Not even a throw-away line, that she has to pop up at CatCo for appearances sake? Since Andrea is already upset with her AND looking into her friends’ identities? At least, Kara should take a peek to make sure Andrea hasn’t uncovered anything yet... No?

so uh i banged this out until my head was empty bc i have not stopped thinking about it ever since i made this post and this post so like . . . i hope you guys enjoy LMAO

summary: kuroo has his worries about college. kenma proves that he's kuroo's best friend for a reason.

~*~

it's late evening when kuroo finally asks.

something had been bothering him all day; he'd been silent on the walk to the station that morning, had barely touched his food during lunch, and he'd kept glancing at kenma, eyebrows scrunched, and kenma knew the signs well enough that he'd have to wait for kuroo to gather his thoughts until he could speak his mind properly, or else they'd never get anywhere.

in the quiet of the neighborhood park, scrolling through his phone and sitting on a swing, kenma is still waiting. the park is dimly lit by streetlamps, and the half-moon peeks out behind some wispy clouds. kuroo had asked kenma if they could drop by after dinner, and that's when kenma had known he was almost ready.

on the swing next to his, kuroo exhales. it's soft and unsure, and kenma pockets his phone and turns to the left.

kuroo meets his gaze with a frown. "do you think i'm being childish?"

kenma tilts his head, raising an eyebrow in a miniscule show of surprise. "for what?"

another pause. another slow, uncertain exhale. "a lot of my classmates are going pretty far for college. that's what you're supposed to do, right? move out, be independent? get a taste of being an adult? but - i'm staying. i'm not going anywhere. and i'm starting with a junior college, too, which - i know it's not a bad thing, but it kind of makes it feel like i'm not going anywhere when everyone else is telling me i should be."

"who's 'everyone else'?" kenma says sharply, and kuroo laughs.

"teachers. classmates. nobody that we're friends with, don't worry," kuroo assures him as he reaches over and pokes the crease between kenma's brows to smooth it down. "but they've been making me think about it a lot. like, i don't know if i'm making the right choice. which is shitty, because i don't want to start college doubting myself."

kenma takes a few seconds to digest it all. he knows the answer to what he's going to ask, because kuroo has told him before, but it's as good a place to start as any. "well, do you want to go far?"

"no," kuroo answers immediately - so bold and decisive that kenma can't see room for any doubt at all. "that hasn't changed. it's just - i wonder if it's childish of me because of why i don't want to."

"it's not," says kenma. kuroo narrows his eyes at him, and kenma adds, "i know you haven't told me the 'why' yet, but i already know. i figured it out back when you first told me your college plans, honestly."

kuroo snorts. "figures."

"you're not childish for not wanting to leave your dad," kenma insists. "or your grandparents. it's natural that you're worried for them, and that you want to help out for as long as you can. you've always been like that, kuro. it's just who you are. but you don't have to be concerned about them thinking you're leaving for good, or that it's because you want to leave them behind. they know you love them. they know you aren't your mom."

"man, you really hit the nail on the head." kuroo laughs again, but it sounds suspiciously like a choked sob. he drags a hand across his eyes and sniffs. "i keep - i keep telling myself it's not the same, that if i left it would be different from what she did. but sometimes it doesn't feel like it. going to sanno gives me some time to figure out what i want to do while being able to stay, at least."

kenma kicks kuroo's leg gently, and kuroo's mouth curls into a tiny smile at that. "you mean we'll figure it out. since you're sticking around then that means i'm still here to help you. don't try to handle everything yourself just 'cause you're going to be a college student."

"thanks, kenma," says kuroo softly. "seriously, i don't know what i'd do without you."

now kenma is the one with a lump in his throat. "you know, i'm glad you're staying, kuro."

"yeah." this time, kuroo smiles full and wide. "what would you do without me, right?"

"oh, shut up." but kenma smiles, too, and he lets kuroo grab his hands and pull him off the swings. "come on, let's go home."

So as close as I am to fully escaping Hades for the first time, I figure I might take this opportunity to write down a couple of things I'm scared of from this ending. The story is so good so far! But I have seen good stories before! And there are patterns, right, patterns it's so easy for even good stories to fall into, so yeah, I have fears, and they mostly come down to Hades himself.

(Yep, this one got long again! People seem to be enjoying my game-reaction rambles, so, for your enjoyment under the cut: themes of separation and reunion, predictions for what Zagreus is the god of, and a whole lot of discussion of familial abuse dynamics, how they're depicted in fiction, and the work it takes to change them in real life. Stay warned! Stay safe!)

(ALSO, I still haven't made it past the first couple of chambers in the Temple of Styx, so no spoilers in the reblogs/comments please! Yes, even though the whole post is me going on about predictions and hopes and concerns about the path the story might take. I WILL GET THERE SOON.)

It has been really interesting watching some of the stuff the game is doing with themes of parting and reunion, and how that corresponds to life and death. So many of our social links are about reuniting estranged loved ones: Chaos and Nyx, Eurydice and Orpheus, Patroclus and Achilles. Hades is estranged from Olympus, Persephone left. And every time we leave, or try to leave, it is both an attempt at a parting (and Meg and Than are so hurt by that goodbye, or lack thereof) and an attempt at a reunion with our mother. Every time we die it's a reunion, every time we die it's fun, it's great, we get to go back home and check in with all of our friends and be impressed by whoever made Employee Of The [Timeperiod] and sell fish to the cook and put down yet more rugs. (My Zagreus has something of a rug addiction. What can you do.)

It's at the point where I feel pretty secure in stating that Zagreus is going to discover eventually that he is both life/death/rebirth god, and god of partings and reunions. Both halves of both of those things. People leave each other when they die and re-find their loved ones in death; you go away from one group of people to come back to another; you have to depart to return, and I really think that's where we're going to end up with Zagreus. He's going to reunite his various friends with their loved ones, he's probably going to restore communications between Hades and Olympus and even Persephone, he's going to reunite with his mom, and he's going to come back to the Underworld before he leaves to see everyone up top all over again. And of course the vehicle for all of this coming and going is death, because death is the ultimate departure and reuniter. (This is absolutely a religious concept containing a whole bunch of "oh hey our culture has a lot of Christian influence, doesn't it", Greek trappings aside, but that's fine, it's a game made in 2018 not 300 BC, these things happen. They keep calling the Underworld 'hell' and 'infernal'. It's all good.) Of course he's a cthonic god. Of course he bleeds, because you have to bleed in order to die, and Zagreus has to die again and again and again. That's his whole thing.

Thing is, though, looking at those themes, I am also continually aware of the fact that some partings are for a really good reason. Some partings should not end in reunion.

Yes, of course this is about Hades the abusive dad. I have been talking about Hades the abusive dad basically non-stop since I started playing this game, where did you think this post was going.

There are a few things I'm nervous about, separate but related, and at the core it all comes down to, I'm not okay with it if we learn why Hades got to be this way, and Zagreus forgives him as we-the-audience are meant to do, and Hades promises to do better, and nothing concrete about the situation is forced to change. Actual, meaningful, practical, logistical, non-hypothetical non-metaphorical change, not just for Zagreus but for Hades himself.

Because I know how this story tends to go, in fiction. Fictional abusive parents (especially in fantasy/sci-fi stories) tend to come in two types: 'coerced their offspring into actual murder with a side of physical abuse and optional unethical lab experimentation', or 'this was here to create character conflict, we didn't mean for it to read as actually abusive, this parent just has flaws to make them a good character, we swear!' Hades isn't the first type--we have never once seen Hades strike his son, or anybody, or even come out from behind his desk--which means that the fear is, always, always, in every piece of fiction, that he's the second. That the writers are going to decide that the right response to his abuses is remorse, forgiveness, and one really good conversation. That they don't realize it's abuse in the first place.

And, like. They have to know, right? They have to. They can't have done this by accident. (Sometimes, writers get so close by accident.) They can't have done so well at drawing out this situation simply by going, 'well, people are meant to fear this god, so they'd probably react like this, and I guess based on what I've seen in other stories or vague acquaintances they'd then do this,' and never put the name on the situation. Every single time we leave to the tune of a Hades word-flash, he's being dismissive, insulting, and sometimes downright cruel. He is cruel. They have to know!!!

But oh boy have I been consuming media for a lot of years, and oh boy have I run into a lot of writers who don't know.

Reconciliation is such a loaded word, but stories about dysfunctional families really do love it. Stories based around themes of reunion are primed for it. And of course, it's nice, it ties a happy ending off with a sweet little bow, everyone gets to be with the people they love and the family is safe and nobody gets hurt, but so rarely have I seen stories that show the actual work required to rebuild those relationships in a realistic or meaningful way. So rarely do stories trying to build that happy ending actually let the victim of abuse set and maintain boundaries. The character never gets to actually just cut the damn ties to the thing that hurt them. The character so rarely even gets to be safe.

And it's so hard in this game specifically, because "THERE IS NO ESCAPE", because every single thing about this game says that the story's not over when Zagreus gets to the surface, that no matter what he's going to have to come back. It's so hard, because this is a game about reunions. I am not going to get an ending where the abused kid trying to flee his toxic home and abusive dad actually gets to leave and stay gone, not in this one. And that hurts (I have watched and supported and done my best to help multiple real-life friends get the fuck out of homes like that, and stay gone, I have seen how hard it is, how complicated, how awful, and there are never stories for that), but I can live with it, if I get an ending where Zagreus is at least safe. Where things change. Where they really change.

Which is why I need actual, concrete, material changes in the logistics and power structure of the Underworld for this ending to be okay. Understanding why Hades is Like That doesn't cut it. Remorse doesn't cut it! Because look, even if Hades wants to do better, even if he admits he's at fault and tries to be better, he is still set up in a position as an all-powerful tyrant, and trying to become a better person is hard. There is nobody around who can keep him in check when he starts backsliding, which he will. Even if he doesn't want to, he will.

Because people are people, and it's really difficult to break patterns! Especially if everything around them stays the same. Hades is going to slip at some point, be cruel, be callous, be tyrannical, no matter how much of an effort he's making. Not to mention, it is STRESSFUL to face your own crimes and improve, it sucks, it feels bad. And what do habitual abusers do when they feel bad? What's the only coping mechanism Hades appears to have established for dealing with his own shit? That's right, it's inflicting suffering on everyone else around him. (This is why it doesn't really matter what circumstances drove Hades to act this way, why it can't matter--I believe that he is suffering, but he copes with that suffering by inflicting additional suffering on everyone around him, everyone who relies on him, and that's still true no matter what made him feel bad to begin with.) So then we just get a great old guilt-->lashing out-->more guilt-->more lashing out merry-go-round of abuse even as Hades is trying to change. That's how these things work. And yes, change is possible, improvement is absolutely possible, but the environment needs to change first. The system that enables and rewards Hades for acting this way can't stay in place. Things need to actually change, with people who are around to support Hades in his growth and also check his power, people who have power of their own to stop him. And however it happens, for this story with this protagonist with these goals to feel like a happy ending, Zagreus needs to be safe.

It would be okay, though a little disappointing, if those changes were mostly based in magic and fate and, idk, divine mind-control. (This story has been so grounded in actual human dynamics that a fantastical solution to a realistic problem would feel like a letdown, but if it actually solved the problem I'd be okay with it, more or less.) It would be okay, though a little disappointing, if the responsibility for bringing Hades to heel fell upon Zagreus and Persephone, if the two family members who he hurt badly enough that they felt the need to run away from him entirely now had to shoulder the burden of helping him fix himself. (There are definitely ways to write that dynamic better and ways to write it worse, and I think I trust these writers to land on the 'better' side of the scale, but I still don't love the implications.) I think I'd be pretty into it if Hades took a vacation off to Olympus to Work Out His Shit with his own family, while a coalition of Meg, Nyx, Thanatos, Zagreus, and Queen Persephone took over running the Underworld in his absence. I think we might end up getting some combination of those things. I'm hopeful. I think these writers might know what they've written. I think they might have a sense for what it'll take to fix.

But yeah, I'm nervous. (Nervous enough that I might switch to God Mode just to get through, combat has started getting really tedious instead of fun, I want to know what happens next, and this is a game and there is no shame in making it more fun for myself by making the boring parts a little quicker and easier.) I've seen so many stories go wrong. This one has done so much to earn my trust. We'll see if it breaks.

i know not everyone has access to hulu and i know i'd be gutted if i couldn’t watch it too so bc i'm lucky enough to have an american friend who let me use her hulu account i thought i'd share the commentary with you all on here <3

- their first bit of commentary is “there’s a title” (cristin) and “there’s a goat” (andy)... 10/10 anaylsis thanks guys

- andy joked that they talked about waiting for an earthquake but decided they didn’t have the budget to wait that long (he said the glowing lights at the end were real tho 🙄)

- andy was excited about having to get shot by an arrow when he was reading the script (it was also the moment they realised this movie was zanier than first thought)

- they started working on palm springs on november 9th 2016…. hence the wedding date

- cristin said they did about 30 takes (at least) of her opening her eyes/sitting up.. basically the entire first half of the first day shooting she spent doing the same thing

- the first night they filmed it there was a sandstorm and rain and they had to hide under a tarp and they came back the next night and they were able to get looser with it bc it was the last day of shooting and they’d basically done the whole thing the night before

- the dinosaurs bit was a “symbolic moment between the characters - they are 2 people who don’t believe they can be loved so they’re feeling something impossible and therefore they should see something impossible”

- the wake-ups were like an acting exercise in a way bc each wake up was diff emotionally based on where they were in the loop

- nyles finally cares about something (her) for the first time in maybe hundreds of years and he immediately gets slapped down :(((

- “suck my dick officer bitch” was cristin’s ad lib!!! (if anyone makes a montage of her life’s work she would like it to either begin or end w suck my dick officer bitch, andy said why not both)

- everytime andy watches the confrontation at the wedding he feels terrible for tala, we love an empathetic king

- re: roy’s arc andy talks about how important it is to relish what you’ve got and it was v v v v sweet

- everyone laughed so hard in the arrow/garbage bin scene

- apparently tyler’s shirtlessness in the shower was distracting for people in early tests and they had to tone it back w colour correction 💀

- cristin was like “did that happen when i had to take my shirt off?” and andy was like “uh huh yeah”

- the goat was on set for a couple of days + apparently cristin would talk to it in between takes 🥺🥺🥺 can she get any cuter

- max talked about how they lucky they were to get andy and cristin and how the movie wouldn’t have worked without them, they were so on the same wavelength and there was an early meeting where nobody else could get a word in bc they were talking so much

- nobody was in it for the paycheck, “it was for the love, and dare i say it, for the art” <3

- they took 3-4 nights to shoot the entire wedding, andy can Not stress enough how much they were rushing

- they haven’t busted out any bloopers yet bc they used pretty much every frame they could/reused them in different places

- cristin doesn’t want to know if nana knows bc the mystery of it is what makes the movie so great!

- andy said there’s no definitive answer to a lot of stuff bc a lot of the people working on the movie had diff opinions

- the french song w the slo mo bit of sarah in the bar was cristin’s choice

- andy is v confused why people think spuds is nyles’ dad,, he’s just tricking him into getting a ride and andy’s sorry to everyone who thought it was real

- cristin liked that the payoff at the end felt like payoff while still staying true to who nyles and sarah are and not just super romantic bc “it’s a romcom!” [andy said throwing his arms in the air]

- cloudbursting was andy’s idea from the very first meeting about the movie but we been knew

- andy: “here’s the ending! nobody knows what it means!”

- the family at the end was the producer’s family, they drove a very long way to do that 2 second scene lol

- andy and cristin were swaying to when the morning comes at the end 🥺

- andy clapped and shouted “WELL PRODUCED” when his/tli’s credit came up hahaha

haha holy SHIT this got Long. but yes. i’ve been. Thinking. (also literally Never feel like you have to apologize for sending me messages. i was Hoping someone would ask me about this. now i have an Excuse to share EVERYTHING ive written abt it :3)

Obviously, Roy is the leader/brains of the outfit. He grew up having some Strong Opinions abt what’s Legal versus what’s Right due to tragic backstory involving the death of his little brother which was definitely SOMEONE’S fault for negligence but since there technically wasn’t any illegal behavior, there were no consequences for it. Also he’s still angry at his dad bc he thinks his dad is also partly culpable (and also also just a dick). He’s the Moral Backbone of the team (alongside Durkon, more on that later) in basically the same way Nate was in og Leverage. He’s actually not the best at figuring out what people want (that’s Haley and, shockingly, occasionally Elan), but once he has that info, he is the absolute best at figuring out the ideal plan of attack to use in any given case.

Haley is still a thief. I mean she maps to Parker almost PERFECTLY. Her dad was a thief & a conman, her mom wasn’t but knew about it and mostly accepted it, but she died tragically in a mugging gone wrong or smth, which made Ian crank the paranoia WAY up and taught Haley to do the same in the name of “safety”. Let’s keep the “Ian is in Trouble and Haley needs money, Fast” which is why she signs on to the first job in the first place. She’s less acrobatic than Parker, tending towards finding (or making) weak spots in security, but she can still make a tumble check when she needs to.

Elan is the grifter who is somehow an Idiot but also not???? It baffles everyone. When he’s playing a part for a con, he’s FLAWLESS, but then the rest of the time he’s just. No Thoughts Head Empty. He probably gets lured in initially because he’s decided to try his hand at being part of a full team, rather than the two-man cons he’s been running that invariably end w his partner conning him as well and stealing half of his take. Also he likes the idea of being Crime Friends. He’s that tweet where it’s like, Roy: “after the heist is over, we split up and never communicate again” / Elan: [about to unveil his Crime Buddies Forever Friendship Quilt Puppets]: “never?”

Vaarsuvius is the hacker/gadget person. They have a Vaguely Snobby Yet Unidentifiable accent, dyed(?) purple hair (nobody has ever seen their roots) and nobody knows who they “really” are or where they came from, but they’re good at what they do so everyone just accepts the mystery. They probably got suckered into the team by their initial employer (who I’ll get to Eventually, lol) framing it as a challenge to their intellect, like, “oh, I see, you’re not smart enough to make this team work for you...” to which they were like Fucking Watch Me and also melted his computer. Anyways. They are joined (digitally) by their Intrepid Friend And Co-Conspirator (his words, not theirs), a fellow hacker known only as Blackwing, or, on certain forums, Blackwing_Bird. (In the first season, V only occasionally references him when saying they’re “calling in extra help” or smth for a particularly complex hack job. He starts showing up a little more in s2 and eventually by the start of s4 is a regular & established presence, but only appears as actions in a computer interface or output.) Elan is convinced he’s an AI, Belkar doesn’t think he actually exists, Haley pretends she doesn’t think he exists, and Durkon and Roy try not to think about it too hard, as long as B and V still get the job done.

Belkar is the hitter. He is on the team bc their initial employer got him out of jail for it. He doesn’t have a tragic backstory, he just likes doing violent crimes. As the series progresses, he grows some empathy & stuff, but really only for people who actually deserve it. Assholes still get decked. It’s all very touching. (Also he has dwarfism caused by achondroplasia. It doesn’t actually bother him and is useful in fights bc his opponents frequently have no fucking clue how to approach him, but he likes Pretending to take offense at stupid things just to see how far he can go with it.)

Aaaand last but not least, Durkon is the least involved member of the team. He’s actually a career criminal and Roy’s mentor, and wasn’t a member of the initial team that [redacted, I’ll tell you later, PROMISE] put together for a couple of reasons, the main one being that he’s Officially retired in order to spend more time with his family, which consists of his mom, his friend (not girlfriend) Hilgya, baby Kudzu, and a truly stunning number of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Roy frequently calls or visits him for advice and he Occasionally shows up to help out on local jobs, but generally he avoids doing crime if he can (as part of a deal with Hilgya, who is also a career criminal; basically, they’ve both cut back on the crime in order to provide a more stable home environment for Kudzu. But sometimes, you gotta do a little crime, and in those cases, Sigdi enjoys spending time w her grandson.)

NOW. THE BIG REVEAL YOU’VE BEEN WAITING FOR. Who got the team together in the first place?!

The answer: Lord Shojo (or whatever Normal Person Name you want to assign him). Now this is where it gets tricky: he had them do a thing that they thought was good, THEN they thought it was BAD, but then when they confronted him he revealed that it Appearing to be bad was actually a test of character and would they consider working as basically internal investigators for him? But then he had a heart attack, so, rip. But THEN it turned out that he’d left them a bunch of money anyway and they were all feeling kind of Inspired so they formed the Order of the Stick, LLC (which, no, i am not coming up with a new name, actually, because I just don’t care. someone else can come up w a justification for that name, tho, i’m sure it’s possible). Also Miko was there and was unhappy abt their actions, and also their general existence.

Moving on. Villains!

Redcloak is the Sterling replacement, because that DEEPLY amuses me.

Xykon is a season-long main villain, probably one that Redcloak finds himself working for but then “teams up with” (read: blackmails) the Order to bring him down bc even Redcloak finds Xykon distasteful. That’s season 3, let’s say.

Tarquin is another season villain, say season 2. Nale probably shows up pretty early in s1, actually, as another recurring antagonist like Sterling but uh. Less good at it. Anyways the s2 final 3 eps deal with them (accidentally) discovering that Tarquin runs some Evil Empire Company, then trying to outplay him and take him down. Idk if Nale still dies in this version tbh.

Tsukiko is a one-off s1 villain who returns briefly in s4 alongside Miko, who has gone well and truly off the rails.

Season 1 finale has to do w Roy finally getting Vengeance for his little brother.

The vampire squad is the s4 finale villain who do smth terrible to Durkon and then get the Mother Of All Revenge served up to them by the Order.

I envision the show as being 5 seasons (like og Leverage) but I’m not going to sketch out s5 because I think it should be based off whatever happens in the current story arc, possibly involving some legacy of the OotSquiggle.

Other stuff!

The Order of the Squiggle is a legendary criminal team from the 60s who stole a BUNCH of famous shit & then proceeded to legendarily implode. This has no bearing on the plot I’ve sketched out, I just think it’s fun.

The Sapphire Guard members should probably be reworked as FBI. I don’t care about most of them but I do think that Lien and O-Chul could be like, FBI agents who Choose to look the other way while the Order does their very-much-not-legal-but-still-fair Justice Crime, and maybe even help them out on occasion.

So, the Final season-by-season outline, based on everything I’ve written so far:

s1 e1: getting the team together, doing a con for Shojo, then at the end he dies and the gang is like “dang what now?" and intend to split up except then they Don’t.

mid-s1: Nale shows up and tries to trick the Order, but then gets beat like a drum.

late s1: Tsukiko is an underling of the Villain Of The Week, winds up in police custody. But She’ll Be Back.

s1 finale: Roy’s Vengeance: The Vengeaning. also we meet Redcloak as an antagonist.

s2 e1: the truth abt Haley’s father comes out

early s2: The Two Live Crews Job but it’s the Order vs the Linear Guild and the Linear Guild ARE all bad guys.

mid-s2: Redcloak returns. ugh.

late s2: the sapphire guard FBI makes its first appearance, hello O-Chul and Lien.

s2 pre-finale: once again they’re in conflict w Nale over smth, he spends the whole episodes making Cryptic Remarks, they basically beat him (like a drum!) but then the stinger at the end is that Tarquin reveals himself and Elan is like “Dad?!”, roll credits.

s2 finale, part 1: Elan is hanging out w Tarquin bc he’s DEEP in Denial, the Rest of the team tries to take Tarquin down, but it doesn’t work.

s2 finale, part 2: Elan finally gets a clue and they manage to beat Tarquin. still haven’t decided if Nale dies or not, but I’m leaning towards yes. also they rescue Haley’s dad.

s3 e1: fuck dude idk.

early s3: Redcloak shows up, AGAIN, everyone groans. he has blackmail on them, he wants them to take Xykon down.

mid s3: The Rashomon Job but it’s about stealing the Talisman of Dorukan and it turns out that Nale was there too (“oh!” Elan says. “I was wondering why I looked so weird in all those mirrors! But it wasn’t my reflection, it was Nale’s!” “Sweetie, that wasn’t Nale’s reflection,” says Haley. “Huh,” says Elan, “so the mirrors were broken?”, cue eye rolling from everyone else.), and the Successful thief was Hilgya, who’d nabbed it from the owner before it even went on display.

s3 finale: they beat Xykon, actually factually, because he deserves to get his ass Thoroughly kicked, even if only in AU form. Lien and O-Chul are there, so are some other less helpful FBI people. There’s a bit where O-Chul Exact Wordses his way out of telling his superiors about the Order’s less legal activities without technically lying. King shit.

s4 e1: doesn’t really matter. maybe smth to do w some legacy of Tarquin’s company to set up the drama w Malack & Durkon later.

early s4: Durkon gets SENT TO PRISON. Malack approaches the Order abt this because sure they have Different Ethics but they’re still Friends. (Roy is surprised and a little hurt that he’s never heard of Malack, but he ignores that in favor of Let’s Get Whatever Fuckers Did This To Our Friend.)

immediately after that: Miko and Tsukiko return as a Team, preventing the Order from working on the Durkon situation

mid s4: Redcloak makes another unexpected & unwelcome appearance but he’s maybe a little less of a dick? the Order collaborates with Malack & his Crime Buddies (hello, Vector Legion) to pull one over on him tho, because “less of a dick” does not mean “a pleasant or decent person”, and also he was mean abt Durkon being in jail, so he totally deserved it. he still gets whatever he wanted tho, just takes a blow to his pride. also prevents the Order from helping Durkon. they’re having a LOT of setbacks wonder why that could be, not to make sure the season fills its whole length or anything, no sirree

s4 finale: something something taking down the organization, headed by Hel (yes that’s her real name), which framed Durkon for their Big Crime. Durkon goes free and Extra Firmly retires, For Good, He Swears, but says he “met someone new” who might be an asset.

s5 e1: minrah joins the team! and the episode is set in like, somewhere really snowy. that’s all i got.

the rest of s5: don’t know, don’t care, it’s open-ended until the comic finishes up.

Overwatch Heroes Ranking & Honest Opinions part 3

Part 3 of my ranking and opinions of the playable characters of Overwatch. Last one started a bit negatively but i'll make up for it with this one. Parts 1, 2 and 4.

Mako "Roadhog" Rutledge: 8/10

A great contrast to his best buddy, Junkrat. Rich backstory and great personality, He is the grumpy and cool uncle of this group. Really interested to see what they decide to do with his story, especially if the Junker Queen will actually be in the game. His design is very iconic, from the scary hog mask to his cute pig tattoo. He is my least favorite character gameplay wise, but i'll excuse that bc he is so cool. 8/10, i should eat less pork.

Siebren "Sigma" de Kuiper: 3/10

I'll admit to first liking his origin story, which was beautifully produced. Cosmic horror was something that we didn't have in Overwatch yet so his reveal was super exciting. However as a character, Sigma's design is so problematic. Stigmatizing mentally ill people in 2019 was so low. I think they will "fix" his character in OW2 due to backlash so I'll be looking forward to that. Personality wise, he seems like a lovely man, but I am not happy with his personality in his origin story video. Big scary mentally ill villain? Ugh. In game he can be a bit frustrating. 3/10, put those feet away.

Jack "Soldier: 76" Morrison: 6-/10

He is the generic vigilante character. I really like his backstory involving Ana and Gabriel, those 3 have a really good dynamic. Personality wise he is so generic but i think that was the point? Oh and he is gay i guess.. they could have explored that a bit more even though it's not a really big and important part of his character. Kinda bland in the game, i never play him. 6-/10, good on you, gramps.

Sombra: 9+/10

I don't like her fanon portrayal. I get that she has really funny lines but can we stop acting like she is a gremlin and not an actual threat. I really like her personality and her snarky and belittling comments, she clearly sees herself so much superior than everyone else. She is unapologetically a bastard. That being said, I truly think she cares for other people, maybe not many people, but still some people. Was not a big fan of her "portrayal in the "Searching" comic. I really love her OW1 design, a stealth character being covered in neon LED lights is so funny. Not that big of a fan of her OW2 design though. She is my 3rd most played character and i love her kit, and i am anxiously waiting for her rework. 9+/10, never change you magnificent bastard

Satya "Symmetra" Vaswani: 10/10

This character is so important to me, and i love her a lot. She is the character that got me into Overwatch, so she kinda changed my life lmao. She is such a multi dimensional character and i am eagerly awaiting for her storyline in OW2. She is a really beautiful character, but i think her design could be improved in OW2. She is my 2nd most played character and my controversial opinion is that she deserves another rework, she feels so clunky to play compared to other characters. 10/10, you deserve way more love.

Torbjörn Lindholm: 8/10

The meme man himself, Torbjörn is a surprisingly well written character. Being one of the creators of the omnics, his viewpoint of this whole charade is super interesting. He is a hilarious and nasty old man, with the most memeable voice lines in the game. His OW2 design has such nordic dad vibes, i appreciate it a lot. I almost never play him, but he is very fun. 8/10, don't get caught with your beard in the letterbox.

Lena "Tracer" Oxton: 7/10

Culturally a very iconic character, seeing a lesbian character being the poster girl for one of the biggest games in the world was so cool. She is such a energetic ray of sunshine. She just makes me happy. Really dig her design, they really nailed her vibe. The "London Calling" comics were a waste of comics imo. Nothing else to say, she is funky in and out of the game. 7/10, her death screams sound like Link from The Legend Of Zelda.

Amélie "Widowmaker" Lacroix: 9+/10

Widowmaker really is held back by being called "emotionless", because she is not. Detached of her sentiment is much more accurate way of describing her. She is a really proud and boastful lady with an ego the size of Reinhardt. In my opinion her design fits her, because she is so prideful and she definitely thinks herself as the sexiest being in the world. Nobody can tell her shit. Really interested to see what they will do with her in OW2, but personally i don't think she needs a redemption. She is my most played character with almost 500 hours for her. 9+/10, je ne parle pas français.

Winston: 8/10

A scientist. Everyone loves Winston Overwatch. He is such a really cool dude and he really pulls you into the story in every animated short he is in. Can't believe his siblings killed his dad.. that's brutal, man. I never play him. 8/10, no monkey business.

Hammond "Wrecking Ball": 0/10

Literally such a pointless character, he doesn't need to exist. They could have released Sojourn instead of him. Convinced the only reason he exists is because of the plushies. I hope he gets eaten by a snake in OW2. He is so annoying in the game and i love ruining people's day who play him by playing Sombra. 0/10, go away, snake food.
