a/n: there is no face claim, I just can't resist te perfection that is Anya Taylor-Joy(I wanted to save her for a Häkkinen!reader, but couldn't stop myself when I started the dior montage). those are little snippets from her life between the GQ video and Bahrain 23', to give some context. I gave names to y/n mother, sister, stepfather and etc, because I find mad confusing to put a bunch of y/mn, y/s/n, y/bff/n, it gets tiring and confusing especially if it comes one after the other in a social media tag or paragraph, thats the only reason I gave them names. there is a few tennis players in this story, not too crazy, but as it is a character a little bit inspired by break point some of those guys will show up and the netflix show will be mentioned. comment and give it a like if you like, I love to read what you guys have to say and your thoughts. I also gave a name to the series, it is very cliche but I couldn't think of nothing better.

y/name.wolff it wasn't easy but we did it! today my dream came true, in winning my twelfth title today, the fourth in a row this calendar year, I became the sixth grand slam champion in history, the fourth woman to do so and the very first brit. it takes a village and i would not have managed it without the amazing team i have behind me supporting me at every step. shout out to my coaches, my therapist, my sponsors and my family.🤍🏆🏆

How he shows it: Physical Touch and Quality Time

I'd say pretty early on in the relationship, things are still a bit rocky as one would guess with a guy like Leona. He's not one to talk or do all of the pretty things you'd find in most ordinary relationships. I'd like to describe Leona as a brick wall, sturdy and rough around the edges so his personality would not change simply because he's in a relationship with you.

you'd slowly start to learn that the small gestures of hand holding underneath the desk during lectures, patting your head when you've aced a test, or just sitting beside you while you're doing homework is his way of telling you you're important to this beastman. But the sweetest and most endearing show of affection is nuzzling close to your head or neck.

He's the type to drag you along when he's napping cuz he really does find your presence comforting. He enjoys the silent moments you two would share, it allows him to really sink in that there's someone rooting for him on the sidelines.

He's the type to be pretty hands-off, makes sure to not smother you, letting you do your own thing while he observes just in case something or someone would come in your way. I also see him as the kind of bf that would help you improve be it in academics or even in sports. Sort of like a tutor/coach cuz he really does want you to be the best version of yourself.

Slowly as this relationship goes on, I see Leona as the type to warm up to the idea of other ways of showing you that what you two have is special. Like dates off-campus, or an expensive ornate accessory or two. <3

What he needs: Words of Affirmation and Physical Touch

Being raised in a place where you're constantly compared does a lot of damage, and we can visibly see that with Leona. I'd imagine him spacing out, often recalling all of the complaints, comparisons, etc. and he's just quiet...so be the one to help break that train of thought of his.

He's a thinker, and with that comes the good and bad so having you, his S/O telling him small comments that he's enough, and that you're proud of him would catch him off-guard (in a good way) Though I do want to add that it's not your responsibility to fix him, it's still up to this lion to accept your compliments or not. With the way I see things tho, he'd be in denial but it does warm his heart.

Like I said earlier, he thinks a lot and sometimes genuine words aren't enough to get through his thick head. So hold his hand, or comb through his hair. pet his ears even! It soothes him. Taking naps throughout the day would often lead to muscle/body aches so a simple shoulder massage gets Leona's heart fluttering even just for a little bit.

We all know his unique magic is dangerous, to the point it almost killed Ruggie. I believe that he takes precautions with his hands (guess that's why he wears gloves) so a gesture that would really seal; Guide both of his hands toward your face so you're in between them and just...enjoy the feeling.

I believe another gesture would be sweet to him. Kiss his scar. He probably hates it and the guy doesn't even remember how he got it in the first place! He'd be a bit dumbfounded that you'd pick that area of his face but he'd like it (tho he won't admit it) Embrace his scars <3 (be it literal and/or figurative)

Ruggie Bucchi

How he shows it: Act of Service and Gift Giving

Ruggie's known for doing things all for the right price be it in the shape of favor or monetary. But for you, I see him doing small tasks for you in hopes that it would get your attention. I'm talking about carrying your books to class, and picking up your fave drink/snack while getting Leona's order.

Ruggie would be the type to save up some extra models on the side just so he can do a little splurging on you from time to time. He'd take note of your interests cuz he is genuinely curious and so he would try to buy stuff related to them <3 Oh! another thing I see him doing is helping you buy stuff at good deals, making sure your model and his are well spent which is always a plus cuz you get to see his serious expression as he bargains. a cute sight really~

He'd probably ask Leona for some extra tips on homework just so he can impress you while you guys are doing homework together. Cash in a few favors to give you a heads-up on upcoming "surprise" tests from Professor Trein. But another way I could see this is he'll lean towards you for help instead of Leona. sometimes teasing or messing with you while doing so just to see you puff your cheeks from his antics.

His grandma raised him right and I'm pretty sure she'd be the type to tell Ruggie "the quickest way to a person's heart is through their stomach" so you can imagine probably in the early hours in Savanaclaw, Ruggie fumbling in the kitchen as he tries to cook tomorrow's lunch. He'd insist on you taking it, "It helps save your money~" he'd say. He doesn't have much time with all the small jobs he's doing around campus so getting to spend time with you in these short moments eases him from all that stress.

When you're upset about something, he's the type to have a box of tissues on hand while he sits there as you let him cry it out. He'd even let you pet his ears if it calms you down during these rough times. To me, Ruggie won't give out advice unless you asked him for one but he knows you're capable enough to solve it while he's there to lend an ear...with snacks <3

What he needs: Gift Giving and Quality Time

Ruggie would really appreciate it if you give something in return. He genuinely doesn't mind if you spend a thousand madol (he'd probably tear up if you tell him the price) or give him something handmade. He's the type to appreciate the thought behind them especially if it's coming from his s/o.

He'd put your gifts on a shelf or his bedside table just so he could see them before he goes to bed and as soon as he woke up. If you love to cook and give him his meal, he'd stood there dumbfounded. He'd eat every part of it even if you add a little too much of something. He does appreciate the gesture and would ask you if you could cook him some more.

Speaking of food, I see you guys cooking together, be it teaching you how to make certain meals or just craving something in your or his dorm's kitchen. He'd shoo away any prying eyes or wandering beastmen just so it's just the two of you. casually flicking flour in your direction or stealing a utensil and only giving it back if you kiss him ~

Even when he's busy doing work or odd tasks from Leona, he'd appreciate you being there just to chat or even help out. What you can also do is ask him to personally show you how to do certain tasks to get all close and personal with him. He might know what you're up to but he ain't complaining~

Ruggie's always on the move, working his tail off and making sure he's stable enough once he graduates from NRC so have some quiet time with him. he might be twitching to get going but a couple of strokes in his ear would ease the tension on his shoulders. Let this hyena relax once in a while TvT and oftentimes this happens, you'd find a cute hyena beastman sleeping soundly on your lap.

Jack Howl

How he shows it: Words of Affirmation and Acts of Service

He may be a bit stand-offish and distant at the start of the relationship but he does mean well. You'd notice pretty early on that he's a bit awkward when he's around you but there are certain ways that he treats you differently from his friends. Take sports for example.

He'd be the type to personally help you if it's something PE or sports related. Make sure you're in top form and all that <3 A cute moment I see with this is that he'll get so wrapped up in helping you work out that it would take a while before he notices the proximity between you two. You'd know once you hear him slow down his speech and that he'd avert his gaze from yours.

Jack would be the type to be there at your side as you two walk to class in case anyone would want to mess with you. He'd nonchalantly carry your entire backpack and even more which is his earnest and cute way to show off his strength to you. Another way he shows affection is by also helping you in academics. You two would be shushed by Professor Trein pretty often when you guys study in the library. I see Jack as someone who'd hype someone up if they get a question right after so many tries.

At times when you're upset, he'd hold you close as he tries his best to say the right words but would be quiet throughout most of it. It does depend if what made you upset would determine his next course of action. sometimes it would upset you when Jack just gives you straight-up advice when what you want was comfort. You'd just have to talk to him about what you want from him and he'd understand. But if what troubles you is a 'who'… honestly good luck to that guy.

He's not much of a talker but what gets him passionate is at times when you need some words of encouragement when you're feeling insecure about something. Jack is the kind to be straight to the point and won't sugarcoat but would acknowledge your strong feats for whatever you're dealing with at the time.

What he needs: Quality Time and Gift Giving

The kind of guy that would appreciate actions rather than words from their s/o. Jack would describe himself as a lone wolf (no pun intended) so seeing you genuinely want to hang out with him, makes him feel something inside <3 Get him talking about his interests like gardening where you'll get his eyes light up which is always a highlight of your day~

A way to spend time with him is through his morning jogs. it's a way to get some alone time between the two of you and you guys to be active together. Sure the sacrifice would be to wake up early than expected but seeing his face light up whenever you join him for a run is worth it! It also allows you two to talk while around campus. We all know Jack is a pretty private individual so having a genuine conversation with you as you two work out early in the day, not only strengthens your bond as a couple but also increases his appreciation for you <3

Surprise him with small genuine gifts! it could be seed packets that you guys could plant together, new sporting gloves, or even a beverage after his club activities. He wouldn't know what to say at first cuz he's trying to reboot himself internally from your sweet gesture. Sometimes he's confused about how you affect him with whatever gesture you do but he lets you do it anyway because it leads you to have this glint in your eye.

Give him a challenge. Be a little competitive with him cuz it not only excites him but fuels him to do activities with you. challenge him on who can finish all their homework for the day or race him to the cafeteria and the loser has to buy lunch. He enjoys the playfulness, which keeps him on his toes and helps to study for him fun cuz he gets to do it with you.

Like in most cases with Savanaclaw, Jack is oftentimes pretty stubborn and would like to be left alone. Besides all of the bonding moments and receiving gifts, what he'd appreciate is if his s/o would cut it straight with him or in other words, call him out. He can take your words so long as it doesn't cross any boundaries of his but otherwise, he'll understand where you're coming from. He's gonna make mistakes but so long as you, his s/o, are gonna talk it out with him, his will heart skip a beat every time. All the more reason to be with you more.

I Need More (Jenni Hermoso x reader)

A/N: I apologise in advance for any errors, it’s late and my bed i called me.

P.S Jorge is a prick!

2022 showed so much promise but then Barcelona lost in the champions league final, your girlfriend moved to Pachuca then she got injured, your best friend got injured and Spain got knocked out of the euros in the quarter final.

You wanted to go to Mexico straight from England but Jenni told you that she needed time to settle in and get to know her team mates before you came to visit. You hadn’t seen her since the game against Italy and now you wouldn’t see her until the national camp in September.

As soon you entered the facility in Las Rojas you have an extra pep in your step as you all but ignore your team mates who are in the lobby in favour on going to your room one that, like always, you would be sharing with Jenni.

“Baby, I have missed you” you say as you swipe the key to your room.

You don’t see her but you see a bag on the bed closest to the door, the one you always keep empty.

“I saw you yesterday but I missed you to, I guess” Irene replies as she exits the bathroom.

You loved Irene like a sister. The two of you really bonded at the euros with you been room mates for the tournament.

“You’re not Jenni” the look of disappointment on you face could no be hidden.

“I overheard Lola swapping the rooms around when I arrived. You should be happy that I was there, they had you sharing with Esther”

You fall back onto the bed. The tensions were high in the team at the minute and the relationship between you and Esther was rocky to say the least with the two of you constantly butting heads during the summer.

“This camp is going to be bad Irene, really bad. I don’t know how much more I can take”

She takes a seat next to you on the bed.

“We are doing what is best for the team, remember that. Now let’s go downstairs so you can see your girl. I’m not having another camp with moody sexually frustrated Y/N”

You can only laugh at her comment.

When you enter the lounge area you feel your body relax when you she Jenni. She is sat with some of your Barcelona team mates. It frustrated you a little bit, the fact that she didn’t come see you after she unpacked but you choose to let it go knowing that you are probably overthinking it.

You reach for her shoulders placing a quick kiss on her hairline. You take a seat next to her and the pressure you were feelings minutes ago vanish. You had Jenni back even if it was only for just over a week.

“Hey that’s my seat” Lola says as she approached the table, two coffees in hand.

“Take another one Lola. I haven’t seen Jenni in months” you plead.

“Neither have I, I have missed my best friend” Lola replies clearly not wanting to back down.

This is one of the things you were dreading about this camp. You knew that you would have limited spare time and you wanted to spend every minute of that with Jenni however you knew you wouldn’t be the only one wanted this. Jenni moving to Mexico means that it isn’t only you she is reunited with but all her friends too.

“Y/N! Irene! Jorge wants to speak to you”

The whole table looks at the you. During the time between the Euros and the start of the Liga F season, the two of you as well as some of the other players voiced your opinion on Jorge’s coaching methods and the way he treats the team. You had the teams best interest at heart but he along with some of the higher ups did not see it this way this leading to a rather tense national camp.

You don’t see the team again until the afternoon training session. The Spanish sun is beaming down on the pitch and even though the team is used to the heat, you are all dripping in sweat.

“Y/N! go again! Those shots are sloppy” Jorge shouts from the sidelines.

Jenni watches from where her and are the other girls are taking their drinks break. Time and time again your shots hit the back of the net, Sandra doesn’t stand a chance of stopping any of them. She can tell that you are getting more frustrated with every strike as she sees the power of your shots increase.

“Is this what it was like during the summer?” Jenni asks the group.

“He was worse. After Alexia’s injury he put all the pressure on the Y/N. If we performed well, she could have done better and when we performed badly or lost then he blamed Y/N’s lack of leadership on the pitch. They had a huge argument after the England game but she didn’t talk to any of us about it. What did she say to you Irene? You were the one that shared a room with her” Leila tells her former team mate.

“It was hard for her but you know this” Irene looks at Jenni, keeping her response short but she get her point across.

She saw a different side of you throughout the Euros. She saw what you were like without Jenni which is something she hasn’t seen for a while. She saw your change in mood when you couldn’t talk to your girlfriend because of the timezones.

After training you stay out on the pitch of your own volition. Jorge’s words of discouragement rang through you head on a loop. Jenni on the other pulls Irene aside as they make their way back inside.

“What did you mean earlier? Y/N hasn’t talked to me about any of this” Jenni asks slightly confused by the defenders choice on words.

“She missed you Jenni. I was there when she tried to call you and you said you didn’t have the time, it hurt her. She went through a lot, she didn’t have you, she didn’t have Alexia and none of us could fill the void that you two left”

“How is Alexia?”

“Really? I tell you that and you don’t care about your girlfriend. Unbelievable”

Jenni knew that it wasn’t the best thing to ask but things haven’t been the best as of late, the distance between you has taken it’s toll on your relationship and she feared that if she were to ask about you then she wouldn’t like the answer.

“Talk to her Jenni, she needs you” those are Irene’s last words.

Deep down Jenni knew that Irene was right but she wasn’t ready for the outcome of that conversation. In her head she feels it would only end one way and she wasn’t ready for that.

That night you are the last one down for the team meal. The table Jenni was seated at had no empty chairs so you sat with some of the Real Madrid players. You are talking to Misa about possibly doing some extra sessions with her when you feel a presence behind you.

You don’t need to turn around to know who it is, your increase in heart rate lets you know who it is.

“Hi” Jenni says as you turn to face her.

“Hi” you mimic her greeting and you feel uneasy at the tension that had grown between you.

“Can I talk to you?” She asks.

You stand, telling Misa you that will catch up with her later before leaving with Jenni.

Nervousness radiates from her as you walk the halls of the facility.

“What’s wrong?” You ask at you take a seat in the outdoor area.

“I haven’t been a very good girlfriend and I want to apologise”

You are caught off guard by her apology but remain quiet. Jenni was right but you didn’t want her to feel any worse than she already did.

“I think I made a mistake” Jenni confesses.

“We both did” you mumble under your breathe.

“Que?”

“Nothing, forget I said anything. It isn’t important” You spoke truthfully. You had so much going on right now, an argument with Jenni was the last thing you needed.

“Alexia wasn’t in England, her injury was ten times worse than yours but she still checked in with me everyday even though she was going through hell. You cannot use that as an excuse for turning your back on me, on us!”

“I didn’t—“

“Yes you did. Take today for example, I have been looking forward to this day since we said goodbye. Do you know how it felt walking into the hotel room to find Irene instead of you. To hear that you are staying with Lola instead of me?”

“That wasn’t my choice. Lola asked if I wanted to room with her and I couldn’t say no, she is my best friend”

“And I am your girlfriend Jenni! Does than mean nothing to you?”

You outburst leaves Jenni at a loss for words. She can see the hurt on your face and she hates that she is the reason for it.

“Moving to Mexico was a mistake” it is all she can say.

You can only laugh at her response. You told her that she would regret the decision but that you would support her regardless.

“Yes it was. You turned your back on your team, on your friends, your family, on me and for what a bigger pay check? That’s right, I know Barcelona made you an offer but you wanted more so you chose to move over 5,000 miles away just to spite them”

“How did you know that?” Jenni is shocked to learn of your knowledge.

“Because unlike you I wanted to fight for us. I had an event and Joan was there so I asked him what the situation was. Imagine my surprise when I learnt my girlfriend is a sell out”

“I guess loyalty is rewarded” you are aware of how petty your response is but you don’t have the energy to care.

The seriousness of the conversation hits you like a ton of bricks. You eyes prick with tears whilst Jenni has tears rolling down her face.

“I don’t know Jen, I can’t be in a one side relationship. I want this, I want you but it feels like your feelings have changed. It doesn’t feel like you love me anymore” your heart breaks as you say the last words.

“Y/N” You can hear the defeat in her tone “Is this it? Is this how we end?”

“No. I think we need a break. I need to focus on well, everything else and you need to think about what you want”

You leave without giving her the chance to respond deciding it is best to give her space. You are drained physically, mentally and emotionally. When you reach into your pocket for your phone you realise that you must have left it on the table along with your room key.

When you enter the food hall you try your best to go unnoticed, you could feel the tightness around you eyes and you could only imagine how red they must be.

“Y/N are you ok?” Patri asks.

“No, I’m not” you don’t have the energy to lie “Have you seen my phone, I think I left it on that table but it isn’t there”

“Misa gave it to Sandra, who is” Patri scans the room “Over there by the pool table”

“Thanks P”

You get you belongings from the Barca goalkeeper then leave for your room but Jenni stops you by the door.

“You deserve better Y/N” her voice is quiet as not to bring attention to the two of you.

“Then be better Jenni because I want you” you place a gentle kiss on her cheek before leaving.

Jenni watches you walk away. She knows that this is right thing for the two of you. She knows that she wants you but things are more difficult now and she isn’t sure if the your relationship will survive the distance.

Days pass, you and Jenni barely speak unless you have to and the sadness you both are clearly feelings is picked up by the players around you. Lola has taken it upon herself to cheer Jenni up the best she can whilst Irene and Sandra rarely leave your side.

“I told her that we need a break. I have so much going on at the minute, I don’t have time to worry about my relationship”

You and Irene are in your room getting ready for training. Your co captain has starting to worry about you even though you reassure her time and time again that you are fine.

“I know that are getting tense at the minute, we all feel it and you seem to be his punching bag which isn’t fair but you can’t let him ruin your relationship Y/N”

You ignore her words even though you know she is right but you cannot bring yourself to focus on anything other than the team. As if knowing what you are thinking Irene stares are you, it’s the look you imagine her giving her son when he is being naughty. The thought alone causes you to crack up.

“So you do know how to smile?”

“Shut up!” You though a pillow at her. She is about to throw it back but you her someone banging at your door.

You open it to find Parti, Leila, Sandra, Lola and Jenni. All of them have concerned looks of their faces which causes an uneasy feeling to settle in your gut.

“What is it?” You ask not caring for pleasantries.

“It’s leaked” you look at Patri hoping that she will elaborate “The meeting we have had with Jorge and the staff. They are saying we want him fired”

You go to you bedside table getting your iPad so you can see the report for yourself. Just as Patri said, it is all over twitter but they have got it completely wrong. This is what you feared, you never asked for Jorge to be fired, you just wanted the teams health and wellbeing to be considered a priority which during the euros it wasn’t.

Would you mind if Jorge was fired, no but you never demanded it like some of twitter is saying.

“He is going to think one of us leaked it” Lola says.

“No” Irene says looking at you.

“He is going to think I leaked it” and as if he heard his name been mentioned you phone goes off, you receive a message saying that Jorge wanted to speak to you. “I have been summoned”

“Just you” Jenni asks and you nods your head “Let one us come with you” you shake your head.

As asked you meet with Jorge and some of the media team in a conference room. They let you know that as a captain you will be in the pre match press conference where you will back the team and show your support for the coach in question. When you tell them that you won’t do it, that you won’t lie to the world, you all but get threatened to be removed from the team. They give you a list of questions that you will be asked by news outlets close to the team such as Marca. You roll you eyes are the type of questions, you are known as an honest person who never shies away from the truth yet now this is exactly what you are been asked to do.

A couple of days later and it is the night before the press conference. Since finding out about it you haven’t been able to sleep but you know you have to be camera ready in the morning so you skip dinner and team bonding in favour of getting a good nights sleep,

“Y/N Please let me in” Jenni says from the other side of your door. You hope that if you ignore her she will go away. “Irene gave me a key but I won’t use it if you don’t want me to. It’s just that I’m worried about you, we all are. I know I am probably the last person you want to see”

That’s the thing, she isn’t. She is the person that you know will be able to be to calm you down but you also know she wont be able to do that without bringing out different emotions.

“I will wait out here for 5 minutes, I will set my phone’s timer and if you don’t come to the door by the timer ends then I will leave”

You rolls you eyes, letting out a small chuckle at your girlfriends resilience and although you are tempted to call her bluff you choose to let her in.

“You wouldn’t have left after five minutes” you open the door moving aside so she can come in.

“No, I wouldn’t” she confirms your suspicions.

You get back in your bed while Jenni stands near the TV not knowing where the two of you stand.

“What are you doing? We can still share a bed Jenni” you pat the place next you and Jenni lifts up the sheet getting in next to you.

“I wasn’t sure if that was ok”

“We are still dating Jenni, you are still my girlfriend” you try your best to reassure her given that the two of you haven’t talked about your argument since it happened.

“I want you to know that I have thought about what you said and I want to talk to you about it but not now. Right now I want to watch a movie and cuddle”

“I would like that”

Needing no more encouragement she holds her arm out and you snuggle in her side. You feel your shoulders relax when your in her hold.

You don’t remember falling asleep but you wake up the next morning on your side with Jenni’s arms wrapped around you. You look at the time to see that you have several hours before you are needed in the media room so you allow yourself to go back to sleep.

Your alarm goes off waking both you and Jenni up and for a split second things seem normal. With your eyes closed it is like you are in your apartment in Barcelona, the two are you getting up so you can go to training. The two of you get ready and go for breakfast before you have to leave for the press conference.

During the meal the press officer, the one that seems to be on your side, comes over to help you prepare. After finishing your breakfast you and her head to the conference room. You take your seat ready to be probed by the media but just before it starts the entire team comes in and sits down. You immediately feel the anvil size weight lift off your chest.

The questions are tough and as predicted Marca are doing their best to paint Jorge as a hero and you as the bad guy but your media training pays off as you keep a level head and answer the questions the best you can. It is when the other journalists start asking you questions that it becomes difficult, these weren’t pre approved and they a clearly asking the questions that the rest of the world want to know. You can tell that you don’t answer them like your coach or the RFEF would have wanted but you try your best, still you know that your weren’t very convincing.

Your press conference last 10 minutes but you feel like you barely got to speak and you know that you just lied to the fans, this alone is enough to feel like a let down and as soon as you are out of the door Jorge is in your face.

“What was that? You did not do what we asked!”

“I answered the Marca questions like we agreed. As for the other ones, I did my best. I lied to the entire world so that you wouldn’t look like an incompetent coach. You should be thanking me!”

“You don’t care for this team. I won’t have players on my team with your attitude!”

At the this point the rest of the team stand by and watch the back and forth between you and Jorge. Nobody knows that to do, do they stop it? If so, how do they stop it.

“You talk a big game Jorge but we both know the importance of public perception. Now correct me if I am wrong but now it is your turn to lie to the world, enjoy your press conference, you never know it might be your last”

You know you shouldn’t have said that but the man was on your last nerve.

“Y/N” The press officer warns you.

“I know, I know. Will you let me know how the public reacts?” You ask her.

“Of course, I’ll come and find you later. I suggest you find a way to calm down before you do something that you will regret”

“What about a movie night?” Lola suggests.

“Who’s room?” You ask.

“Ours” Jenni answers.

“Give me ten minutes and I’ll be there. Leila, you’re not picking the movie” you joke in attempt to lighten the mood which in a matter of minutes became very heavy.

Most of them team spends the day in Jenni and Lola’s room before going to bed so that they can get a good nights sleep before the game against Hungary the next day.

The game against Hungary ends in a Spain win, with both you and Irene scoring the first half. The crowd erupted when the balls hit the back of the net and you swear you have never felt more support during a match than in that moment. You aren’t surprised when Jorge brings you both off at half time, you know it is a power move but you proved your point in the first half, he was well aware of this.

Between the first and second game things take a turn for the worse for Jorge and RFEF as the fans publicly support you and the rest of the players, they call the press conference staged and say that you were told what to say as you would never talk about the team the way you did which is what you tried to tell the media team when they came up with your answers. Irene did the second press conference which went went just as well as yours and it seemed to had fuel to the fire.

Jorge’s ego took at hit during those days and he proved this much when he benched you and Irene for the game against the Ukraine and kept you there for the duration of the game. It was a breaking point for you though, you couldn’t take anymore.

“I’m done” you throw your bag across the room and slam the door.

Inside your room stood Irene, Jenni, Patri and Sandra.

“I will tell them that I will not be returning to the national team until these issues are resolved”

“Y/N calm down. I know you are mad but don’t do anything hasty”

“Patri, I love you but you have no idea what this last week has been like. I am going to lose my spot on the national team, I am losing my girl. It’s all too much”

You bury your head in your hands. All of the emotions that you have buried down come to the surface and you burst into tears.

“Can you give us the room?” Jenni asks. The other three are shocked by your confession. They knew about the issues with the team but they had no idea that things hadn’t gotten that bad between you so they happily give the two of you space.

Jenni pulls you into her arms which somehow makes it worse. She holds you and whispers words of comfort whilst you body racks with sobs.

“You’re not losing me”

“Yes, I am. I lost you the minute you moved to Mexico. This summer was shit then I went back to Barcelona and for a split second I forgot you moved then when I remembered I starting crying in the middle of our apartment. It’s just me and Andi”

“At least you have him” Jenni doesn’t know what to say or how to fix the situation.

“But I need you Jenni”

“Y/N I—“

You sit up, wiping your eyes with the sleeves of your hoodie. You take a deep breath before turning to look at your girlfriend.

“I need you” you repeat yourself “I know that I cant have you the way I want you and I will learn to be ok with that but I need you to be there. I can’t be in this relationship alone”

“This past month has been tough and I know I haven’t been the best girlfriend but I will be better, I promise”

“Good and I know I haven’t been great either but we survived your move to Paris, we can survive this”

“We will” Jenni says not knowing whether it is a statement or a question.

“We will” your tone is full of certainty.

You know that it will be hard but as long as you both are willing to put in the effort to make it work then there is hope for your relationship.

Despite temps in the 40's, the nets are up and so we feel compelled to play tennis; 2 hours on Sundays and Wednesdays. We had a rather large group of 7 yesterday and generally 3-4 including Beth and me on Wednesdays.

My return to running is going well - Saturday's 11 mile run was the furthest I've run in 2 years and it felt good. My running pace and VO2 max are still a long way from where they were before I shifted exclusively to bike training in early 2022, but I'm happy with my progress.

I took a bike FTP test last week and was a little disappointed that my FTP had plateaued until my bike coach directed my attention to a Training Peaks performance management chart which highlighted the load created by simultaneously pursuing bike and running training programs. You can see my fatigue (the pink line) begin to rise dramatically in February when I added half marathon run training to cross-Pyrenees bike training. Simultaneously my Form (the yellow line indicating, 'race readiness') began to decline. Fortunately, my overall fitness, the area under the blue line, began to accelerate more quickly too.

These are all just estimates and calculations made by Training Peaks but it is helpful to see objective confirmation of the stress of training.

A Small Perth & Chimon Timeline

Since I like procrastinating post about Perth and Chimon excessively, I decided to put together a small timeline of them and some of their works! I'm definitely missing a few things because I've been a fan for under 6 months but I wanted to share (under the cut ↓)

Excuse my poor formatting again, I'm more used to word vomiting www

Before I talk about PerthChimon(TM),

I would like to bring up some of Chimon's previous projects. Chimon has been acting as a full time career since 2016, due to financial problems his family faced. His first named role was Nack from Sweet Boy (I won't be posting it because I don't. like the movie lmfao). Later that year he joined GMMTV as a supporting character in Senior Secret Love: My Lil Boy 2.

(this is also where he met Nanon! They've know eachother for almost 8 years now)

In 2017, he was cast in My Dear Loser: Edge of 17 as Sun, in a side pairing alongside Pluem Purim. The two of them would star as In-Sun again in My Dear Loser: Happy Ever After (2017) and Our Skyy (2018)'s My Dear Loser episode. This is when (I suspect) Chimon became more well known in English fandom spaces, playing one half of a BL side pairing.

So... what about Perth?

Sometime after My Dear Loser, in 2017, Chimon was cast as the lead in Please... Siang RIak Winyan, or Please... Soul Call (I will be calling it 'Please' from here on).

(i like the opening theme song its very good)

Perth was cast as a supporting character by its director New Siwaj, who had met Perth when he was auditioning for various advertisements. Perth and Chimon met for the first time during Please's workshops, but didn't talk much, if at all as their characters didn't share any scenes and Perth was (and still is) naturally very quiet, keeping to himself.

Please is 6 episodes long, and the first 4 episodes were subtitled by lovelyperthmarks on Youtube. I personally don't think the show is anything extraodinary, but definitely fun to watch if you want to see how much Perth and Chimon have grown!

And after that,

After Please, Perth and Chimon proceeded with their own projects. Perth was later cast in Love By Chance (2018) by, again, New Siwaj where his popularity kind of.... exploded...... you could say (lol). Around the same time, Chimon starred in several GMMTV series, including The Gifted (2018), one of the more well known non-BL GMMTV series.

Perth worked on a few shows, including The Stranded (2019), one of the earliest Netflix shows produced by Thai companies starring Thai actors. He was also in TEMPT, a boy band featuring multiple Love By Chance cast members that disbanded later in 2020. Perth eventually went freelance some time in 2020, starring in a few projects like his first movie Tell The World I Love You (2022), and My Coach (2022).

Similarly, Chimon worked on several GMMTV series such as He's Coming To Me (2019), The Gifted Graduation (2020), and The Player (2021). He also worked on a few non-GMMTV shows, such as Put Your Head On My Shoulder (2019) and was a main host of TV show School Rangers from 2018 to 2023 (HE'S GRADUATING!!!!!). He also vlogs on his Youtube channel occasionally, something that he says he wants to go back to if he has the time.

In 2020, they did a photoshoot together at Fantopia for... no apparent reason? I really can't think of a reason Perth would be put with them lolol. I don't have the high quality version of this but I'm sure its out there somewhere!!!

At some point, Perth and Chimon became casual friends through their mutual friends Ohm and Nanon. I'm not super sure when this happened but they talk about this a bit in this interview! This clip also has a few other interesting things like how Chimon declined taking BL roles after Pluem went to do other projects, but P'Aof managed to convince him because he would be paired with Perth. Which leads me into...

Perth in GMMTV

In April 2022, Perth was announced as a new GMMTV artist. He made a guest appearance in Vice Versa (2022), but had no announced projects until GMMTV2023.

In July 2022, Perth and Chimon attended the KAZZ Awards 2022 as a duo. Perth and Chimon were also both part of Safe House Season 4: Vote (2022) where they grew to be close friends. I assume this is also when Perth was added to NLMG's cast and ChopperBen was written in. It's also possible Dangerous Romance was in early planning stages but I cannot confirm this.

At this point, Never Let Me Go had already been announced as part of the GMMTV2022 lineup. It featured Chimon as Ben, Nuengdiao's (eventual) ex boyfriend and someone else (SORRY I CAN NOT REMEMBER WHO.......) as Chopper, Nuengdiao's cousin. There was no ChopperBen romantic storyline even hinted at in the pilot trailer.

Phuwin Makes An Oopsie

On 17th September 2022, Phuwin posted this image on Twitter.

See anyone familiar in the corner? That is indeed Perth Tanapon himself! At this point there was no information about NLMG and any cast change, and Pond, Phuwin and Perth decided to post this (well. Phuwin posted it but the other 2 didn't stop him) because surely no one would know. They were told to take it down but the same day, people started speculating about Perth's role in NLMG.

People had started wondering if they would be paired together in a series from KAZZ Awards and Safe House S4, and Phuwin posting Perth on the workshop of a series Chimon was already in (we will get to this later) confirmed it for everyone. Before we got NLMG's official trailer in November, however, we got...

Dangerous Romance

At GMMTV2023, which was held in November 2022 (days before NLMG's official trailer was released), the pilot trailer for Dangerous Romance was revealed and PerthChimon were confirmed as an official pairing. Perth was immediately cast as Kanghan and Chimon as Sailom soon after, since they could match eachother's acting ability well and were a good fit for the roles (I can't find the source for this it got lost in my 82374983 PC bookmarks. Here's who I think is P'Aof talking about why PC were paired though!)

Throughout this time, Perth and Chimon were in several events together, including GMMTV FanDay in Osaka and too many promotional events for me to keep track of. I might make a separate post for them someday. My personal favourite is Bookfluencer x PerthChimon, where they promoted the release of Dangerous Romance's novel.

In April 2023, Dangerous Romance's workshops started. It lasted for 4 days

Later in May 2023, KanghanSailom fitting pics were also released!

(other cast member fitting pics weren't released until the official trailer aired. the fitting seems to have been in mid May!)

And soon, at the start of June 2023, Dangerous Romance officially began filming. The filming lasted until August 2023, including the music video filming (and recording!), though there was a day they had to go back to reshoot a few scenes (you can see this in the series, they have noticably different hair).

Ever since then, PerthChimon have been doing promotional events and fanmeetings. They filmed 3 episodes of vlogs, were in GMMTV Fanday 6 in Seoul as well as GMMTV Fanday 7 in Cambodia, GMMTV Fanfest 2023 in Japan, and have already been confirmed as part of LOL Fanfest 2024! And of course, the Dangerous Romance Final Ep Fanmeet taking place (checks notes) TOMORROW?!?!?!?!

The learned helplessness of Pete Buttigieg

The apocalyptic airline meltdown over the Christmas break stranded thousands of Americans, ruining their vacations and costing them a fortune in unexpected fees. It wasn't just Southwest Airlines' meltdown, either - as stranded fliers sought alternatives, airlines like AA raised the price of some domestic coach tickets to over $10,000.

This didn't come out of nowhere. Southwest's growth strategy has seen the airlines add more planes and routes without a comparable investment in back-end systems, including crew scheduling systems. SWA's unions have spent years warning the public that their employer's IT infrastructure was one crisis away from total collapse.

But successive administrations have failed to act on those warnings. Under Obama and Trump, the DoT was content to let "the market" discipline the monopoly carriers, though both administrations were happy to wave through anticompetitive mergers that weakened the power of markets to provide that discipline. Obama waved through the United/Continental merger and the Southwest/AirTran merger, while Trump waved through Virgin/Alaska.

While these firms were allowed to privatize their gains, Uncle Sucker paid for their losses. Trump handed the airlines $54 billion in covid relief, which the airlines squandered on stock buybacks and executive bonuses, while gutting their own employee rosters with early retirement buyouts:

Incredibly, the airlines got even worse under the Biden administration. In the first six months of 2022, US airlines cancelled more flights than they had in all of 2021, while the airlines increased their profits by 45% - and kept it, rather than using it to pay back the $10b in unpaid refunds they owed to fliers:

Dozens of state attorneys general - Republicans and Democrats - wrote to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, begging him to take action on the airlines. After months without action, they wrote again, just days before the Christmas meltdown:

For his part, Secretary Buttigieg claimed he was doing all he could, trumpeting the order to refund fliers as evidence of his muscular regulatory approach (recall that these refunds have not been paid). He assured Americans that the situation "is going to get better by the holidays."

But the numbers tell the tale. Under Buttigieg, the DOT "issued fewer enforcement orders in 2021 than in any single year of the Trump and Obama administrations."

As the crisis raged, enraged fliers and opponents of unchecked corporate power blamed Buttigieg. So did opportunistic, bad-faith Republicans looking to score political points. The "liberal" media lumped all this criticism together, insisting that Buttigieg had done everything in his power and declaring it unreasonable to expect the Transport Secretary to prevent transportation catastrophes:

Buttigieg's defenders trotted out a laundry list of excuses for the failure, ranging from the nonsensical to the implausible to the contradictory - Pete's Army continued to claim that the aviation meltdown was the weather's fault, even after Buttigieg himself went on national TV to say this wasn't the case:

Buttigieg is the Secretary of a powerful administrative agency, and as such, he has broad powers. Neither he nor his predecessors have had the courage to wield that power, all of them evincing a kind of learned helplessness in the face of industry lobbying. But there is a difference between being powerless and acting powerless.

To see what a fully operational battle-station looks like, cast your eye upon Lina Khan, chair of the FTC, another agency that has a long history of dormancy in the face of corporate power, but which Khan has transformed - not through ideology, but through competence. Khan - and her fellow Biden administration trustbusters Jonathan Kantor and the recently departed Tim Wu - have an encyclopedic knowledge of their powers, and they haven't been shy about using them:

Over the Christmas break, even as the airline industry was stranding Americans far from their families, Khan proposed a rule to ban noncompete agreements, which are widely used to prevent low-waged workers like fast-food cashiers from quitting their jobs and seeking better pay from competitors:

These are, as Matt Stoller writes, a form of indentured servitude, used by private equity crooks to lock in their workforces. "30% of hair stylists works under a non-compete, as do 45% of family physicians." Noncompetes destroy the livelihoods of workers who start their own businesses, too: "One comment to the FTC came from a graphic designers for signage who was bankrupted by a lawsuit from her control-hungry former boss and a small town judge":

Noncompetes are a scourge, and there should be bipartisan agreement on this. If you're a Democrat who believes in labor rights, noncompetes are manifestly unfair. But that's also true if you're a Republican who believes in competition and the power of entrepreneurship.

Nevertheless, noncompetes have trundled on, with neither Congress nor the administrative branch showing the courage to act - until now. Khan's proposed rule bypasses Congressional inaction by invoking powers that she already has, under Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act.

Section 5 gives the FTC broad powers to prohibit "unfair methods of competition" - an incredibly broad power to wield, and one that the FTC hasn't bothered to use since the 1970s (!):

Which brings me back to Secretary Buttigieg and the airlines. Because Chair Khan isn't the only federal regulator with these broad powers. As David Dayen writes for The American Prospect, "the Department of Transportation has the exact same authority":

Under USC40 Section 41712(a), Buttigieg has the power to unilaterally ban transportation industry practices that are "unfair and deceptive" or "unfair methods of competition." Per the DOT's own guidance, this provision is "modeled on Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act":

The are a lot more recent examples of the DOT using this power than there are of the FTC using its Section 5 authority, like the Tarmac Delay Rule. But as Robert Kuttner writes, the airlines reneged on their end of the $54b bailout, slashing staffing levels and failing to invest in IT modernization - examples of the "unfair and deceptive" practices that the DOT could intervene to prevent:

As Dayen writes, "The definition of 'deceptive' is 'likely to mislead a consumer, acting reasonably under the circumstances.' If the airline scheduled a flight, took money for the flight, and knew it would have to cancel it (or, if you prefer, knew it would have to cancel some flights, all of which it took money for), that seems plainly deceptive."

This is the same authority that Buttigieg used to fine 5 non-US airlines (and Frontier, the tiny US carrier that flies 2% of domestic routes) for cancelling their flights - his signature achievement to date. But as Dayen points out, this authority isn't limited to taking action after the fact.

The DOT can - and should - act before Americans' flights are canceled. It can use its authority under 41712(a) to "say that the cancellation itself is an unfair and deceptive practice and issue a fine for each canceled flight." It could "promulgate a rule saying that cancellations due to insufficient crews, or due to dysfunctional computer scheduling systems, are unfair and deceptive, with stiff fines for each violation."

Both of these were within Buttigieg's power months ago, when the State AGs begged him to take action to prevent the mounting epidemic of cancellations. Both of these are within his power now. Heads of federal agencies are among the most powerful people in the world and they can use that power to materially improve the lives of the American people.

Just ask Lina Khan.
