What You Need to Know

There’s a particular headline I’ve been seeing more and more as our society crumbles into social disillusionment and although it’s glaringly obvious to me how this headline is a perfect representation of our general lack of thoughtful and intentional progress—progress; in the sense that progress is development not simply “change”—it isn’t always so obvious to everyone and, I don’t know, maybe there are a number of reasons why but I do know that we are always too focused on what’s next and not necessarily what is. This headline reads something like, “What you need to know about…” “What you need to know about the election.” "What you need to know about Amber Heard.” "What you need to know about racism.” "What you need to know about the conservatives/liberals.” “What you need to know…” These are arbitrary articles written by anyone with an idea; these writers, these people are no more cognizant to a perspective than any one of you and yet we allow them to sift through the facts or the truth and determine what it is that I need to know about it (assuming, of course, sifting is a part of the process at all, and not simply more perspective advertising). I, without hesitation or question, absolutely reject the idea that what anyone might want to tell me aside from the most fundamental facts of the situation in any way is a representation of what I might need to know. I urge you, when confronted with any idea or perspective to actively disengage any bias you may have and to consciously zoom out as if looking at whatever city you might reside from a high distance, until all you see is grid-like circular greyish image of roads and allow your purview the flexibility to receive prospects as if roads, avenues, streets, and interstates in and out of your purview without impediment. Think for yourself, but consciously and with purpose. I was walking through Yellowstone National Park one afternoon and not far from the Morning Glory pool a few miles from Old Faithful I stepped off the trail, where I saw a picnic table at the side of the boardwalk, to snap a picture of a river near the riverbank. Several moments later a gentlemen walked up to me and told me I shouldn't be doing that, he had a few more words to say about it. Instead of explaining to him that Yellowstone, if you’ve ever walked through there, has never shied away from placing “Do Not Enter,” “Unsafe, Return to Walkway,” etc., signs all over the place, they’ll put up barricades and build fences, they don’t place picnic tables and have biking tails adjacent to boardwalks in places they don’t want you walking. On top of that, flowers, grass, trees, and other plants don’t grow in or near dangerous thermal areas, Bison don’t walk in areas with unsafe foundations; the point that I’m making is to pay attention, be conscious of your surroundings and your thoughts and actively maintain and develop them. This man and two people he was with then proceeded to jump on their bikes and ride down the path; “funny…” I thought, “…although biking is allowed on this particular paved trail near Old Faithful, there are also hundreds of people walking back and forth every hour and whether biking may be permitted or not, is it actually safe?” The thought did not once cross that guy’s mind, but he was certainly concerned about me walking along a trail near the boardwalk by the ‘Faded Glory’ pool down to the riverbank. Please, think and live consciously. (Don’t be like the author of those headlines and don’t systematically judge and question people without thought to your own actions, and even then, when confronted with the freedom(s) of choice to question another human beings’ actions and reactions, don’t—not directly, you have the freedom to say something, and you have the freedom to not; don’t. They don’t care what you think, and besides when you do that, you’re not doing it for them you’re doing it for yourself, and that makes you a human piece of garbage. I promise you, you have enough to work on regarding your own sense of conscious living, don’t think about why they did something, think instead about why you didn’t, and that’s enough). Please, think and live consciously.

Heeeey it's been a hot minute since I last had tea and knitting to show you but the school year has come to an end so I've brought home the socks I was knitting on hall duty and at meetings there! :-D

Pattern is my own tinkering, just some columns of YO lace that I didn't need to look at a chart for while knitting on hall duty; yarn is Serenity Sock Prints from Premier Yarns (now discontinued; I had stashed it at my parents' house years ago as backup knitting in case I was visiting them and finished a WIP or something, and they have been decluttering as they prepare to move so I brought my old yarns home [along with a whole lot of books and old t-shirts. Oh dear.])

And today's tea is Spiced Caramel Pear, which I liked as a CommuniTEA sample a while back and ordered a whole bag! It does exactly what it says on the tin; I can taste the spices, the caramel, and the pear all in lovely proportions.

Hello! Yeah I used to be really active here but I switched to Twitter for a while; right now I’m kinda drifting. Today's tea: TEA the World, a Good Omens blend that I liked when I tried it some time ago as a CommuniTEA sample so I got a full bag! It's a nice peachy decaf.

Today's knit: I'm loving the overall colorway now that I've reached the last section of it! I'm pretty sure I have enough pink yarn left to finish this last rep of the stockinette/lace sequence, but I've put in a lifeline juuuuust in case I have to rip back since it's supposed to be bound off right after a lace section.

The colorway is called Double Dutch but it's such a lovely sunset going on here.
