Ford Berliner Concept, 1968. An electric city car prototype created by designers at Ford of Europe and first presented at Ford of Europe in Cologne before appearing at the 1969 Geneva Motor Show. Although it was only 2.13 metres long it could seat 2 adults and 2 children, the batteries were stored under the seats.

The head of Ford Europe says people should drive less, and walk and bike more, especially for the majority of trips under 3km.

Even company president Bill Ford, the great-grandson of company founder Henry Ford, says to avoid global gridlock, we all need to drive less and not add more roads / lanes. He says what many of us have been saying: a traffic jam of zero-emission vehicles is still a traffic jam.

Here’s hoping Ford gets into electric and acoustic bikes. :)

It’s also true that not everyone wants a Tesla. Even when affordable, many people just don’t want a barren, brutalist interior. People often want things like a turn signal stalk, a few buttons for the most commonly used systems, and *GASP!* a gauge cluster display that’s in front of them while facing forward. Some of us don’t want to use a touchscreen to aim the AC vents when we could just do that with our hands like we’ve always done, and more quickly. Some of us also aren’t impressed with Elon Musk’s edgy behaviour(..)

P.S. All this could be true, but GM is not able to sell the Chevrolet Bolt in large volumes, nor is it able to export this electric car to Europe. At its heart conceptually, the Chevrolet Bolt was a compliance electric car that GM made only because it had to. Tesla and the Chinese electric car manufacturers are still completely safe, especially in Europe, where there is absolutely NO "competition" from GM...

Basically, GM has completely lost the European car market and there is very little chance that they will be able to come back. Most likely, Ford will also lose the European car market (Ford will no longer make the Fiesta). It's hard for them to go here. Americans are not good at producing compact and subcompact cars and crossovers...

Two doors too few: Part 2 Ford Granada Mk 1, 1972-1977. The Granada was Ford of Europe's flagship model and the first to be sold across European and UK markets. The Mk 1 range comprised a 4-door saloon, 5-door Turnier Estate, 2-door fastback coupe and this 2-door saloon that came with 1.7 V4 and 2.0 litre L4 and V6 engines. It used the long doors of Granada coupe and the 3-box bodywork of the 4-door sedan. When the Mk 2 Granada arrived in 1977 both the 2-door saloon and coupe had been dropped
