I find it so funny that conservatives are just now freaking out about Barbie being "woke" because of the movie casting a trans Barbie and other queer actors, saying they're "forgetting their target audience of families and children".

Barbie has been "woke feminist" for years.

LGBTQ+ representation belongs in all movies, including family films.

Barbie isn't even a kids movie, it's rated PG-13 and there is one child in the main cast. Greta Gerwig made a Barbie movie for adults who remember playing with Barbie. The kids can go watch Barbie of Swan Lake.

Weird Barbie's Weird Girlfriend is finished. Her backstory is that a kid gave one of her Barbies this crazy makeover after going to a pride parade with her two moms. I had a lot of fun making her and I think she turned out lovely. For context I used a Barbie I was very middle of the road on (kinda hated her hair style) and Fabric Markers for this.

like i never realized the gay/lesbian subtext in barbie and the diamond castle.

i legit thought the two women were like sisters and stuff like that so they couldn’t date and i just headcannon them as aroace or single or smth like that bc kid logic.

i kinda realize now that maybe that was why my best friend in elementary school might’ve actually been gay and led to my queer awakening. she watched that movie a lot, her moms were too and yeah.

i watched the movie once when i was little but got scared when the fire scene came on bc i was deathly afraid of fire back then but it don’t matter anymore.

i only rewatched it again recently and it turns out, the women were never siblings and it was only the men. plus the characters are wearing pride flag colours!!

Imma be honest I didn't know Brooklyn was in it until like 2 says ago when I actually checked what the movie would be about and I had no idea Isla was coming back???

The movie wasn't as gay as the series or big city big dreams and also I feel like it had a lot of plots rhat went nowhere like I thought skipper and that boy would have a thing but eh not really, I thought the bully would have a redemption but she was just suddenly good (same with marlo)

Also the only gay bit was the very beginning, brookpyn didn't even swim over to check on her gf after barbie almost died in a worl pool smh

Anyway you should still watch it cause islas back (isla was barbie first gf, twas a bit awkward having her gf meet her ex but we got over that) and cause mermaids
