DCXDP prompt
The Meta Games
What originally started as a group of local teens challenging each other to see who would pay for milkshakes. Changed and grew into one of the largest sporting events the world had ever known.
The Meta Games, in the beginning, was nothing more than a town full of bored adolescents coming up with their own source of entertainment. In a place like Amity Park could you blame them?
The teens would come up with fun challenges and even obstacle courses to prove who was the best. The Games weren't even closed off to non-metas. So if you were willing to play, you could. Just don't go complaining if you got hurt.
Hell, Danny Fenton and Valerie Grey regularly take turns in the winning spot from time to time. If they could try and succeed, why not everyone else?
As the years passed the event got bigger and bigger. Blowing up into a sensation when an out-of-towner stumbled upon the event and thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen.
Soon they had sponsors, funding, and celebrity guests. Of course, then they had to make an actual rule book on how to play just to make the games official/legit. But seeing how the rules were what they were in the beginning(plus some red tape) and very easy to follow. Nobody minded.
Things were fine. That is until The Meta Games caught the Justice Leagues' attention. Contestants, both Meta and non, have gone missing at the games. No one knows where they are going and as they look deeper into the events hosted city's a worrying pattern emerged.
They were always participants but never the winners. Most had extraordinary abilities but others had athletic prowess. Add in the fact that the games were hosted in the same town every year and said town was known for its 'ghost attacks'. Then it wasn’t exactly looking good.
Even so, more information was needed. Whether they liked it or not they needed to go undercover.
_____________________
Danny looked down at the flyer in his hand and scowled. The Meta Games were in a week and he couldn't even be happy about it. To focused on the fact that one of his friends was missing.
He had told Wolf a month ago about how excited he was about participating in the last MG he could before going off to college. He had been intrigued and after Danny explained that the event was open to 'anyone' and 'everyone'.
He eagerly left to go sign up himself. That was weeks ago and there was still no sign of him. He had talked to witnesses who put him at the sign-up booth and Tucker was able to pull up footage of him entering but never leaving.
Something was wrong, and it had something to do with the games themselves. Sure they might have started out innocently enough, but now he's thinking something else saw an opportunity and corrupted them, so to speak.
Either way, he was investigating this. He's just glad that not only did he already have a cover story and his friends in the stands to have his back, but that Ember was the host for this year. Win-win, really.
Not to mention this year's thyme is pretty good. The Justice League, sounds like if would be interesting.
------------------------
Roulette looked down at all the applications on her desk and smiled. Just a few more fighters and she'll be ready to open her new brawls up in the underground. This time, bigger, better, and bloodier then they ever were.
Looking at one application in particular she smiled. One of the original contestants had signed up, a veteran if you will. One that had ended up on top more then the others. Oh Mr. Fenton, what a beautiful opportunity you are.
~So basically Roulette takes over what was a legit competition for fun and prizes and uses it to supply fighters for her illegal fights in her underground gladiator fights behind the scenes.
The League who don't know what is up with this kid and wondering just what he's up to while simultaneously trying to make sure he's not the next target.(No, Batman you can not adopt him.)
Both Danny and the League know something isn't right and investigate. Danny with the help of his friends and other ghosts(who want Wolf back safe and sound. Yes, they are worried).

A TROPE I WOULD LIKE TO SEE EXPLORED MORE:
I’ve seen many fics where it hits the general story beats of: Danny gets approached by Gotham citizens. They talk to him like they know Danny but he has never seen these people before in his life. Eventually he finds out that people are mistaking him for a batkid. Eventually the look-alikes meet and they share stories of how they got confused for each other and wanted to meet the other to see who they kept getting confused for.
I’ve seen authors do this mainly with Gotham citizens or a member of the batfamily mistaking Danny for a member of the batfamily.
But I haven’t seen many examples of the reverse. An Amity Park citizen approaching a batkid thinking that they are Danny.
Imagine the possibilities. The many hcs about creepy Amity Park would mesh perfectly with this. The batkids would be massively confused and be very concerned because like,
What the fuck is wrong with these weird people who keep approaching him and asking when his parent’s wrist rays are going to go back in stock because their old one broke? Who is this “Danny” guy and why do they look enough alike for them to be mistaken for the other multiple times in one day? What the fuck is wrong with the town these guys are coming from because when they are background checked they’ve all came from this small town in Illinois? And why do these people keep thinking he’s been possessed by ghost then pull weird sci-fi looking guns out of nowhere and fire at him with weird green goo when they say they’re not Danny?
Ways this prompt could work in many different ways for different batkids with  the above scenario (but if you write something about Amity Park members mistaking a batkid for Danny, please tag me i would love to read it):
--------------
DAMIAN
Initially, the Amity Park citizen thought that Danny was doing his “spooky eye” thing but then after the kid said he wasn’t Danny, they realized it was a sign of possession. Damian isn’t possessed; he just has green eyes.
ANOTHER ROUTE:
Damian thinks that one of his clones has escaped the league of assassins and now is living a normal life in Amity. Seeking to get rid of the weaker clone, Damian goes to Amity to kill Danny. They fight but Danny tries to talk it out and eventually, after nearly being murdered in his bed multiple nights in a row, consents to DNA testing. The best part? Because Danny canonically has fucked up dna due to that “his molecules got all rearranged” so, for this, it means that Danny’s DNA is so fucked up when trying to do any testing on it, that it’s essentially unreadable. So they are never able to actually finally disprove that Danny isn’t related to Damian (who is paranoid that the birth certificates and baby photos of Danny could be elaborately faked by the league of assassins because they cannot biologically disprove that they are not related but jokes on him, they’re not actually related. They just look alike).
——————
TIM
Tim notes the name Amity Park and once he gets back to the batcave, he begins his research. And is then immediately concerned at the blatant digital non-existence up of the entire town. There are some news reports, a town website, articles about places to visit and restaurants to eat at. But that's it. Just articles and official websites that are oddly blank. He can find no social media posts or blogs or any online activity at all from people inside Amity Park. No tweets with the location set to Amity, no youtube channels, no school email addresses, no nothing from people within Amity.
Just complete digital silence.
Whoever was responsible was doing a pretty shitty job at hiding that they were covering up something big. And all it took was a VPN with the location set in Amity with Justice League clearance and he was in.
Amateurs.
Tim sat back as the batcomputer began compiling and sorting the previously hidden information. Five minutes into the scan, a popup appeared with the first set of interesting things about Amity. The most notable was that the town has been being attacked by monsters they called “ghosts” for over 5 years now. The second was that there was an previously undocumented organization that claimed to be government funded but with further research, it wasn’t clear which government as a little digging revealed the money to be sourced from multiple of them. The third was the Dr.s Fenton research. Research seemed to have changed from the belief that ghosts were non-sentient forms of energy fueled by their last emotions alive to the current perception of ghosts not only being sentient but there being countless and very intriguing research papers on the history, governments, and cultures from a variety of ghost societies.
The fourth popup was the surface level information on Danny Fenton. As the batcomputer would need more time to find more information. And holy shit. The guy did look like him. Well, almost. In the most recent photo that Danny posted with his friends, Tim could clearly see that there were a few differences. Namely, his build. Fenton was visibly more muscular with broader shoulders and a few inches taller. But scrolling back through the images, he found one from before Danny got his apparent growth spurt and they looked nearly identical. Sure Tim had a slightly different jawline, different eye shape with the color a different shade of blue. But Danny looked like if someone tried to draw Tim from memory. It was uncanny. But there was much larger things to worry about as a new chime from the batcomputer brought his attention and to his shock, he already had access to the ghost investigation ward’s database. There is no way that the batcomputer's program automatic searching for firewall weakness actually worked on a government clearance server. But probing around in the server, it became quickly apparent that it wasn’t easily accessible false information to give to people so they  think they’ve achieved their goal. No, the automatic system actually worked and someone had left a convenient backdoor to the server that gave him access through an “Agent K’s” clearance.
There was so much data available that it quickly became clear to Tim that it would take a while to sort through it all. Glancing over the different files, Tim froze and clicked on a file labeled “Fenton-Lazarus-Agreement.pdf”. It took a while to read as the scanned contract was so compressed that it was nearly illegible. This “Ghost Investigation Ward” was planning on performing experiments combining Lazarus Water with a substance only referred to as “purified ectoplasm” to see how it affected ghosts, humans, and to see how it could be integrated into weapons that could equally affect both. Horrified, Tim began to comb through as much information as he could find. But while Agent K had clearance to know about the upcoming plans for these tests, they did not have access to any other communication about it. So, with no other easily exploitable trapdoor, Tim set to work sorting through encrypted and classified information.
No shit whoever it was left the obvious backdoor, he would too after how damn long it took to unencrypt the damn messages, it was almost inhuman how difficult it was. He had to meet the guy who hacked into the organization first. Because whoever it was, had his undying respect and he just wished that the dude got access to the rest of the database because if they were hiding it this well, it must be something really bad.
Several hours later, the lights of the batcave have long since automatically shut off. The light from the batcomputer being the only source of illumination still on, casting harsh dramatic shadows across the billions of dollars worth of equipment and trophies around him. While Tim knew he shouldn’t be down here this late because the light will disturb the natural sleep cycle of the bats within it, right now he did not care. But Tim’s attention wasn’t focused on the familiarly creepy atmosphere of the cave or the sound of the unnaturally active bats. His eyes, now red and dry from straining for hours looking at the bright light were focused on the records of communications between the Al Ghul’s glaring down at him from the screen. The unencrypted emails detailed an agreement for the exchange of “Fenton Works weapons and gadgets” in return for Lazarus water. Tim reread the emails again and again. Fenton Works. He knew that something was up. From what he recalled from the guy who shot green goo at him earlier that day, they mentioned something about “wrist rays” available for purchase by the Fentons. Guess his doppelganger was more involved in Tim’s life than he previously thought. .
After spending many days researching and compiling information, Tim was able to send a full, cohesive report to Bruce first, then the Justice League as further investigation of goings-on in the Ghost Investigation Ward and Amity Park revealed that there was much more being covered up than just the ghosts and the connection to the League of Assassins in the little midwestern town.
Tim was able to convince Bruce to let him be apart of the scouting and information gathering team when the League was cleared to investigate Amity Park. He really wanted to find the guy who was able to hack into the Ghost Investigation Ward’s security, get some Fenton Works tech incase ghost attacks ever occurred in Gotham, and to maybe meet this Danny guy and see if he can ask him if there is a way to get ectoplasm out of clothing because the last Amity Park guy who thought he was processed got a shot in and the ectoplasm stain wont come out of his favorite shirt.
--------
Jason
This wasn’t Jason’s first encounter with an Amity citizen, but this was the first time they landed a shot in and it hurt. The middle aged black man stood in front of Jason with his gun still raised. The man wore a light blue work polo with tan pants. The shirt was embroidered with a company logo of an “Axion Labs” in white followed by the attacker’s name, Damon Gray, embroidered in black.
Barely having any time to recover from the shot, the Gray continued his barrage of fire and yelled, “GET OUT OF DANNY YOU GHOST!” Jason narrowly dodged the rays coming at him of the weird toxic green energy that was so bright it almost flickered out of human perception. So Jason did the reasonable thing and ran. He needed to escape the barrage of bullets and couldn’t fight back in his civilian gear. Dodging into a nearby alleyway to escape the blasts, Jason jumped up in the nearby fire escape and hastily began to climb. Pain erupted from his shoulder as he looked down and saw Gray with surprising amounts of dexterity and mobility for a man around 50, easily hop up on the fire escape and continued to fire. And so the chase continued. The guy was a surprisingly good shot, as evident from the stinging pain in his back and shoulder and it was a relief when finally Jason was able to loose the attacker. But by the time he donned his red hood gear, the asshole was gone.
Unbeknownst to Jason, Damon Grey had hurriedly changed course as he realized that if he missed the meeting he flew over 800 miles to get to, his boss would kill him regardless if it was to stop a possession or not. On the train, he opened up his Amity Alert App and reported the possession and location to let the rest of the town to keep a lookout for Danny and excuse any actions he may make until the ghost is removed.
800 miles away, three alerts rung off from three phones, one with a galaxy case, one in a purple case, and one in an absolute brick of a case that looked like it would survive a nuclear blast before it let the phone inside break. Tucker looked up from his computer and went to turn the alert off before he paused. Looked back the notification then over his shoulder where Danny sat at assembling a Fenton Works device (Danny seriously regrets letting Tucker set up that online shop because now his days are mostly filled with helping keep up with the backlog of orders. His parents’ age are gaining on them and they don’t have the ability to constantly be making inventions like they used to. So, Danny does his best to help out.) with Sam working on a different order next to him. Both of them haven already turned their respective phone’s alerts off.
“Hey Danny”, Tucker called out, making Danny pause from his current task of assembling a Fenton Lipstick Blaster and turn his head to look at Tucker,
“Yeah dude?”
Holding his phone close to his face and clearly enunciating to emphasize the message, Tucker began to read, “Are you aware that at 12:43pm today you were spotted being processed in Gotham by Valerie’s Dad?” Tucker lowered his phone and looked back up at Danny who had fully put down his tools and reached for his own phone.
“Didn’t you say that El was visiting Spain right now?”
“Yeah, she sent me a photo of a seagull stealing someone’s hat from there, like, two hours ago.” Tucker could see Danny tapping around on his phone, presumably opening his conversation with Dani.
Danny’s eyebrows furrowed and he paused looking at his screen. “No, she definitely wouldn’t have been able to travel back to the US by now unless she found a natural portal or called Wulf. But I’m going to text her again really quick just to make sure.”
Tucker got up and walked over to where the ghost boy and Sam sat at the workbench. Then they waited. A few moments later, the typing indicator’s dots popped up and a new message appeared.
It read, “Nope! I’m still in Spain? I saw the alert, are you okay?”
After typing a response, Danny laid his phone down on the cluttered workbench rubbed his face in his hands and turned to face Sam and Tucker.
“What the fuck do we do now?”

Reaching Out
Happy Valentine's Core Exchange to @creoastra! I really hope you like it!
@valentines-core-exchange
--
Danny had heard rumors that Penelope Spectra had found a new haunt. Frustrated that he had to leave Amity Park to find her, he flew as fast as he could, sweeping the region. He was not surprised that his ghost sense finally went off when he passed the local community college.
“What, you couldn’t find any teens to make miserable so you’re going for college students now?” Danny flew closer to Spectra and fired an ectoblast at her. She dodged out of the way, cackling.
“I can see your aim hasn’t improved,” Spectra shot back. “And where are your little friends? Did they finally tell you they don’t like you?” Her smirk grew.
“I – no! They like me!” Danny shot another blast, this one hitting the mark. She hit the ground and rolled. He flew closer to her, feeling his belt to make sure his thermos was easily accessible.
“But they don’t want you, you know,” Spectra said, already getting to her feet, seeming unperturbed by the attack. “Not the way you want them.”
One long, agonizing second tore his heart in half.
“You don’t know that! You – you can’t!”
“Why not? You know I can see all your fears. You know I can tell how you’re still scared that they judge you for being transgender.” She might as well have hit him over the head. “That you’ve been pining for your friends, too afraid to tell them.”
Danny realized he had stopped attacking and was letting her monologue. But… she was right. She was always frustratingly accurate when she tried to get to him. Knowing that she twisted things to make people miserable didnt make it hurt any less, or make it easier to ignore.
Danny redoubled his efforts, shooting a blast of ice at the ghost. In an attempt to not give her more ammo to use against him, he said nothing. But she didn’t need any, and deftly dodged out of the way of the ice.
“You’re a half-dead freak. Who could love a thing like you? You know, most kids would go to their parents for romantic woes. But yours are more concerned with hunting you down than helping you. You have nobody; you are utterly alone.”
“Shut up!” Danny flew forward and punched her square in the face, sending her flying into a wall. He followed it with an ectoblast to the torso. And then another, and another. She crumpled to the ground, twitching with each attack. He stopped when she stopped moving.
Before she could get back up, Danny uncapped the thermos and captured Spectra.
She always went right for the jugular, but that didn’t make it true. Back when Danny fought her the first time, she lied about Jazz calling him a loser. But Jazz had said nothing of the sort. In fact, Danny realized, he wasn’t alone. He could talk to Jazz. She’d know what to say.
Danny came home to find the living room silent, and Jazz sitting on the couch with a book. “Hey, are you busy?” Danny asked. “I could use some advice.”
Jazz’s face lit up. “I’m never too busy to offer advice!” she said.
“Can we go upstairs?” Danny said. “I don’t want Mom and Dad to hear us.”
“Of course,” They made their way upstairs and into Jazz’s room. Jazz took a seat at her desk, and Danny sat on the edge of her bed.
Danny fiddled with the zipper of his NASA hoodie. “So… I ran into Spectra today.”
“Oh no,” Jazz said. “Whatever she said, you know she’s just trying to get into your head.”
“Seems like she’s already in there, reading my thoughts.” Danny’s tone was bitter.
“Tell me your worries, little brother. I’m here to listen.”
Danny slumped onto the bed. “I may as well put it out there. I like Sam; I have for a while. Apparently that’s a surprise to nobody.” He gave a dry chuckle. “But I like Tucker too. I want both of them. But they’d never go for it. You’ve seen how they’re at each other’s throats half the time.”
“Yes, and they’re inseparable the other half of the time. You’re all best friends for a reason. How do you know they’re not interested in anything more?”
“I guess… but I don’t know. I want to be a regular human guy, but I’m not really human, and I’m not really a guy, and they deserve some normalcy in their life.”
“You stop that. Trans guys are guys, and that includes you. And you are human, in all the ways that count. You’re not wrong, though, that going out with a trans person presents unique challenges.” Jazz nodded thoughtfully. “And dating a half-ghost superhero does as well. But Danny, they’re your best friends. They understand you better than anyone else. If they do want you, they know what they’re signing up for.”
“You said ‘if’ they want me. How can I know? I don’t want to make things weird between us. I can’t risk our friendship on this.” Danny sighed. “I appreciate the pep talk. I’m just… scared of what they’ll say.”
“I can’t know how they’ll react. But I know it won’t ruin things. You mean too much to them for them to throw away years of friendship. Think of it this way: Best case scenario, you gain a wonderful girlfriend and boyfriend. Two partners who would do anything for you. Worst case, they’re not interested in you that way, but you still have two best friends who care about you. I think it’s worth a shot.”
Danny smiled. “Thanks, Jazz. I’ll talk to them soon.”
Danny’s stomach flipped in circles as he watched Tucker and Sam eat their food. They were at a nice Italian restaurant; Sam had offered to pay for dinner, and Danny thought Italian food would have enough variety that everyone would be happy. Tucker dug into his spaghetti and meatballs with fervor, while Sam delicately picked at her eggplant parmesan.
His best friends were so different from each other, and that’s what he loved about them. He longed to reach over and touch them, brush Sam’s hair out of her face, playfully rustle Tucker’s beret. But it would be weird. But if he could just tell them how he felt… His stomach did another flip. He wasn’t sure he was ready.
“Danny, are you okay? You haven’t touched your chicken francese.” Sam looked at him with concern.
“Yeah, I’m fine,” Danny lied. He took a bite of his chicken. The flavor of the lemon-wine sauce was vibrant. He knew this place was a good choice. But the delicious food didn’t calm his nerves.
“I know you, dude. You look like something’s eating you.” Tucker observed. Okay, maybe Danny wasn’t as good a liar as he’d hoped.
“I just have a lot on my mind,” Danny said. He couldn’t believe he was going to confess his feelings to his crushes. He wanted to scooch closer to them in their roomy booth, and he knew that if he just told them how he felt, maybe they’d let him. Or they’d say it was weird and they didn’t want to be friends anymore. He couldn’t stand the thought of losing them.
“You can tell us anything,” Sam said. “You know we won’t judge you.”
“Probably,” Tucker added, with a chuckle. Sam glared at him, but the effect was lessened by her smile.
Danny chuckled. “I know. You guys know my biggest secret. I trust you with my life,”
“Then what’s on your mind?” Tucker asked.
Danny took a deep breath. The smell of delicious Italian food grounded him, helped to pull him out of his head a little. He could do this. Jazz believed it would be okay, and he trusted her.
“I… have a crush.” Danny started. “On you.” He looked between the two of them. Tucker frowned.
“Man, I knew you two had a thing for each other, but I’m kinda third-wheeling it here.”
Danny clarified, “Both of you.” He hid his head in his hands. “Is that weird?” he mumbled into his hands.
Tucker sounded much more lively when he said, “Dude, it’s not just me? I’ve been into you two for ages, but I didn’t think I stood a chance.”
Danny unburied his head from his hands. Tucker and Sam both had huge grins on their faces.
“I’ve had a feeling you liked me ever since the Ember thing, and I like you too,” Sam said. “But I like Tucker too, and I didn’t feel right asking you on a date and leaving him out.”
Danny’s voice was cautious when he said, “So you both like me back? And each other? I hoped, but I didn’t think it would actually come true.” The room looked so much brighter after that revelation. His heart fluttered with excitement.
“Does that make this our first date?” Tucker asked as he speared a meatball with his fork.
Sam laughed, a pure, crystalline sound. “I think so!”
Danny couldn’t help but laugh too, overcome with unbridled joy. His two favorite people in the whole world wanted to be with him. Danny put his arm around their hips and pulled them both closer to him, sliding them along the booth until he was sandwiched between them. Sam turned bright red, and Tucker sputtered. But neither protested.
“That’s better,” Danny said. Sam snuggled her head into Danny’s side. Tucker put a hand on Danny’s thigh, the other hand still focused on his meal. “I love you guys.”
Danny flew through the roof of Sam’s house, startling her when he landed in her bedroom. Tucker was already there, laying beside her in bed. Their conversation stopped immediately when they saw him clutching his side, ectoplasm leaking between his fingers.
“Oh my God, Danny, what happened?” Sam exclaimed.
“Technus got a lucky shot in,” Danny grunted through the pain. “I got him though. Can you take a look at this?”
“Yeah, of course.” She cleared a space on the floor and put down a towel for Danny to lay on. She sat at his side, and Tucker kneeled beside him as well. As Sam examined his injury through the rip in his suit, Tucker held his hand and rubbed soothing circles with his thumb.
“How bad does it hurt?” Tucker asked softly.
“I’ve had worse,” Danny said. Sam prodded at the wound and Danny let out a small moan.
“You know I love hearing you moan, but not like this,” Tucker joked. Danny chuckled weakly.
“This is going to need stitches,” Sam said. “I’ll go get the supplies. Tuck, keep an eye on him.”
Danny groaned. He hated getting stitches, but he knew even with his enhanced healing, he would lose a lot of ectoplasm (or blood, if he transformed) if they didn’t stitch it up.
“It won’t take long, and you’ll feel better afterwards,” Tucker promised. He petted Danny’s head, running his fingers through his white hair.
“I know,” Danny said. He leaned into Tucker’s touch. “Thank you for being here. I know how much you hate hospitals.”
“Well, this isn’t a hospital,” Tucker pointed out. “It’s the sterile atmosphere I hate, not the medical procedures themselves. I’m okay. Just worried about you.”
“Well, I’ll be alright. You know me,” Danny said.
Sam reentered the room, medical supplies in hand. She sat down next to Danny and slid the zipper down his jumpsuit. She gently peeled back the suit to reveal a gnarly gash in his side. “Yeah, definitely needs stitches.” She gingerly applied a topical anesthetic to the wound.
“Don’t watch, you know it makes it worse,” Tucker said. “Look at me instead.”
Danny turned his head towards Tucker. He felt the needle pierce his skin, although the pain was dulled by the anesthetic. He winced. Tucker made a sympathetic face. He was so cute when he was worried, his brow furrowed, his mouth curled into a small frown. Danny winced again as he felt another prick of the needle.
“That’s it, you’re doing great,” Sam said as she carefully tended to the wound.
Danny turned to watch Sam as she worked, despite Tucker’s warning. He focused on her face, rather than her hands. Her hair was tied back, and she wore an expression of complete concentration. She was so caring, so sweet and loving when Danny was hurt. Even through the pain, Danny appreciated the care his girlfriend was showing him.
“There, all done,” she finally said. “You look like you could use some cuddles. Come on, let’s get you on the bed.”
Danny protested but when he moved, a jolt of pain shot through him. He allowed his partners to support him as he limped over to the bed.
Danny climbed into bed. Sam and Tucker carefully laid down on either side of him. Tucker nestled himself against Danny’s back. Sam snuggled up under the blanket, pressed up against Danny’s chest. Danny felt so warm with his two favorite people so close to him. It was a comforting kind of warmth, the kind that tells you that everything is going to be okay. And today, he believed it.

Dadrius Week Day 4: Free Space
“So. Hunter.” Jasmin swirled her cup around. “Do you go to Hexside?”
“I start next month.” Hunter sat ramrod straight in his chair, keeping his hands still on his own glass. Darius’ family seemed friendly enough, perhaps overly friendly in Jasmin’s case, but that didn’t mean anything. They’d raised Darius, after all, and he’d been a bubbling hot rebellion under a surface of cool disdain for the world and everyone in it. Anything could be going on underneath their polite, friendly exterior. A chef critic who might be evaluating Darius’ cake for any slight mistake, and a designer with an eye for detail—both of them professional judgers. Anything could be a test, and small talk was not a subject he was well versed in.
Darius seemed tense, too, but not the same nervous tension from before. More… upset. Had he already failed the introduction? Had Darius’ father said something when he was out of earshot? Darius didn’t seem to be talking to Marcus, despite having come over specifically for Father’s Day, and his mother’s attempts at small talk so far had all fallen flat, with short, one sentence responses from Darius.
Jasmin’s laughing eyes slid ever so slightly to Darius. Hunter had to wonder if she couldn’t sense the tension in the room, or if she was doing her best to slam into it with a blunt baseball bat and twirl it up like noodles. “Oh, you should look up the Blight kids while you’re there. If you’re interested in abominations, their youngest might be helpful to know.”
“Oh!” Finally, something he could talk about. “Amity! I know her, we’re friends.”
“Really? History does repeat itself, doesn’t it?” Her nose crinkled, as if she were in on some joke that Hunter wasn’t. “Odalia’s been fishing around for a new business partner for a new business venture, so I’m guessing Alador’s single these days.”
Darius choked on his drink, coughing. “Jasmin.”
Hunter tapped his glass, giving in to the nervous energy that spiked through him. “Yeah… We… may have had something to do with that.”
“Really? Nice. Hey, Hunter, out of nowhere question, how do you feel about stepsiblings? How good of friends are you and Amity?”
“I,” Darius wheezed between coughs, “am going to cause you physical harm.”
Hunter shifted in his seat, trying to put any sort of polite distance between himself and the ticking time bomb that was Jasmin Deamonne. “Um…”
“Jasmin, don’t tease your brother,” Ariana ordered, “Or poor Hunter. You don’t have to answer that.”
Jasmin held her hands up. “I would never.” She leaned her chin in her hand. “Although, speaking of, maybe I should pay Alador a visit. He was always fun.”
Hunter scooted out of his chair before Darius could respond. “I’m going to get some more water. Excuse me.”
“Jasmin,” he heard Ariana sigh deeply as he left the dining room, “You’ve embarrassed him.”
Well, Hunter reflected, this was going spectacularly. Except for Jasmin, Darius’ family didn’t seem to know what to do with Darius and himself any more than he or Darius knew what to do with them.
Think of how it must be in their shoes, all of them.
If I’d just ditched Uncle for years with little contact and suddenly showed up again—
Hunter’s right hand trembled uncontrollably at the thought.
He had left. He’d left, had fled, and he’d lost nearly everything. Control over himself. Flapjack. His life. He’d nearly drowned in the soil of Belos’ mindscape, and then only months later in water while he struggled to surface in his own mind.
Sometimes it felt like Belos was still crawling through his veins, and Hunter could feel him like a second heartbeat right now, pulsing against his skin.
Why would you think that?
Why would you go there?
Why would you think that, why would you think that, why would you—
His glass shattered, and the sound of it breaking against the floor snapped his thoughts back into the Deamonne kitchen, shards of broken glass all around his feet.
The quiet conversation in the other room halted.
“Hunter?” Darius called, “Are you alright?”
“Titan’s bones,” Hunter hissed under his breath. He crouched down, frantically fumbling for the pieces of the glass. “I’m fine!” he called, “I’ve got it, I’ve got it, don’t worry about—”
“Don’t move,” Darius ordered.
Hunter flinched, and the motion closed his hands, pushing the shards of glass he’d picked up into his palms. Blood dripped out of his clenched fists, and he bit his lip to hold back a yip of pain.
Abomination matter slid into the kitchen, sweeping around Hunter’s feet and collecting the broken glass. The swirling mass brushed against his boot, sluggish and—Hunter could tell, even through his heavy leather boot, he could just feel it, in his bones—slimy.
One of Hunter’s knees dropped out of the crouch and onto the ground in a half-kneeling position. His arms dropped to his sides, still curled into fists of painful cuts. He stared at the floor, struggling to control his breathing and squashing any thoughts that tried to pop up.
Throne room
Nope
Flapjack
Not thinking about it
That horrible stench and that shuddering, slimy feel
No. We’re not remembering that. Not today.
No, no, no, no, no, no, nononononononono
“He’s bleeding—hey, are you holding glass—”
“Jasmin, wait—don’t touch—”
Something closed over Hunter’s hand, and he yanked backwards, skidding in a patch of abomination goo and landing on his tailbone in a big puddle. Darius swore, and the abomination cleared up, removing all of the glass from the floor. Marcus and Ariana stood in the doorway between kitchen and dining room, watching with something in their expression that was concerned but… it wasn’t quite pity; more like they were solving some puzzle that he stood in the center of.
Jasmin stared at him, her hand still outstretched and her eyes huge puddles of concern in her face. “I’m sorry!” she cried, “I was just trying to—”
“Don’t worry about it, Jasmin.” Darius knelt next to him. “Hunter, take a deep breath. You’re in my parents’ house. You’re safe. You’re—well, you’re clutching a handful of glass, so I won’t lie and say you’re unharmed. But you will be alright. Deep breath.”
Hunter gulped for air as if he’d been drowning. “I’m sorry,” he managed to Ariana and Marcus, “I’m sorry about the glass, and—” He pulled his hands close to his chest, checking for blood on the floor.
“Don’t worry about that,” Darius said crisply. He made a motion as if to take Hunter’s elbow, but paused just before he did. “May I?”
Hunter nodded, and Darius hauled him to his feet, standing in front of him and half hiding him from his family.
“Hunter and I are going,” he announced briskly, “Thank you for dinner. Enjoy the cake. It was lovely to see you all. Happy Father’s Day, Dad. Goodbye.”
Darius steered Hunter out of the house and halfway down the street. He summoned his Penstagram scroll, typing quickly.
“What are you doing?” Hunter whispered hoarsely. Out of the house and away from staring eyes, his hand stung, and the sick dread in his stomach was starting to turn into a more active horror over what had just happened.
“I’m messaging Eberwolf for a ride. I don’t think trying to use my abomination warp is a good idea at this particular moment in time.”
“Oh.” Hunter’s stomach sank. What a failure of a father’s day. “You should just go. I can use my flashstep to get home.”
Darius shook his head. “No, I won’t leave you right now.” He dismissed the scroll and tugged his gloves off. “He’ll be here in a quarter of an hour. Let me see your hands.”
Hunter slowly uncurled his hands, holding them out. Darius hissed softly. “That looks… bad.”
“It’s just bloody,” Hunter said dismissively, “it’s not that b-AD!” his voice rose in a yelp as Darius pulled a shard of glass out of his palm.
“Warning, I’m doing it again.”
Hunter looked anywhere but at his hands, refusing to watch the glass pull out of his skin. “You didn’t have to leave early.”
“Please don’t start this.”
“Start what? You can go back, I’ll go home with E—”
“No.” Darius crushed the bloody glass shards into a harmless fine powder under his boot. “Before you go further down this road and think yourself into a hole; leaving isn’t your fault; I’m happy to go home with you, and I think you needed out of there. I promise this isn’t an insurmountable burden of terrible weight for me to bear. You’re fine. And once Eber arrives, we’re taking you to a clinic.”
Have we really had conversations like this that many times? Darius’ reassurances didn’t really make him feel better—if anything, the realization that Darius could distill a conversation down to his side because he’d needed to have this talk with Hunter so many times made him feel worse.Hunter examined the cuts in his hand to distract himself from the lingering sick feeling in his stomach that he’d irreversibly screwed up. They still stung, and they still bled, but he’d seen worse. He opened one of the pouches hanging from his belt and dug around, shoving past his father’s day card to find a roll of gauze that he wrapped around his palm. “It’s not that bad. I don’t need a clinic.”
“Are you sure? You have a day with Dell tomorrow; won’t a sliced-up hand be painful to carve with?”
It probably would be, but the last thing Hunter wanted was for Darius to spend his father’s day in a clinic, filling out paperwork for cuts that would heal on their own anyway. He’d caused enough damage today. “Darius. Please. Can we just go home?”
“Alright,” Darius said softly, turning away to watch for Eber. “If that’s really what you want.”

Cult Division 4
Part of this series.
“Vlad,” said Maddie.
“Maddie,” purred Vlad.  “What brings you here today?”
Maddie repressed the desire to curl her lip.  “I am informing you that we’re exhuming Phantom’s body, following the activities of the unidentified cultists last night.”
“Oh, but, Maddie, only family members can do that.  And unless you and Phantom are suddenly family members…”
“Don’t give me that,” said Maddie.  “I.  Know.”
Vlad’s expression soured.  “Yes.  Quite,” he said flatly.  “I am aware.  However, unless you want to make your relationship with the boy public, there’s nothing I can do about the law.”
Maddie, having anticipated this, slammed a piece of paper down on the desk.  “You won’t have to,” she said.  “The law is very much on my side for this one.  Municipal Ordinance 10776.  Investigative professionals registered with the city can request that any grave be exhumed.”
(Investigative professionals here meaning ghost hunters.  Not everyone had the kind of open-mindedness as the average Amity Parker, and although a ordinance against summoning ghosts could be laughed off, things like this tended to be taken a little more seriously.)
“Request,” stressed Vlad.  “Requests, by their nature, are not automatically granted.”
“Maybe,” said Maddie.  “But when word gets around about the cultists, and it will, people will start asking why we aren’t investigating.”
“Is there even anything to investigate?” asked Vlad, putting on his fake innocent act again.  “Goodness, I thought the cultists left the memorial intact and undisturbed.  Are you saying I was misinformed?  Or has something happened to poor Daniel?  I’m sorry, to Phantom?  It really is fascinating that they both have the same first name.”
They glared at each other over the mayoral desk.
“If I have to,” said Maddie, “I can always reveal you.”
“And I’ll deny everything, or reveal Phantom.”
“Not your ghost half,” said Maddie.  “Your continued sexual harassment.  There might not be enough of it to get you arrested, but there’s certainly enough for some interesting headlines.”
(She could also just wait for the police to get a warrant from a judge, but figuring out how to word it without saying anything about ghosts, cultists, or other things that would make outsiders overly curious took time.)
“You wouldn’t.”
“I would.  Jack would be upset, but if it's for Danny, I think he’ll get over it.”
“Very well,” said Vlad, who looked like he’d swallowed a full box of spiders.  “I will approve your request.”
“Thank you,” said Maddie.  “I–”  Her phone went off.  Relishing the chance to be rude to Vlad, she answered it.  “Hello?”
.
“Kidnapped?” Maddie Fenton repeated again.  “How?”
“Er,” said Collins, drumming his fingers on the wheel of his car.  This was not the best place to have this conversation, but there weren’t a lot of better options, so…  “The normal way, I suppose.  Someone broke into the house and took him.”
“Through Jack?”
“That’s something we’re investigating.”  Jack Fenton had been found passed out near the front door, and was one of the reasons they’d been called in.  Apparently, bright orange hazmat was visible.  Who would have thought.
“But,” said Maddie, “you think Danny’s okay?”
‘Okay’ was probably an overstatement.  An overstatement at best.  They hadn’t found any major organs or limbs strewn around the house, but there were signs of a struggle, and kidnapping victims were, as a rule, never okay.
Also… Collins made the decision to not mention the bloody backpack.  Some things mothers (and potential suspects) were better off not knowing.  He was fairly certain it wasn’t Danny’s blood on the bag, anyway.  He almost felt bad for whoever kidnapped him.
Almost.
Whoever those people were, he doubted they were aware of even a tenth of what Danny did for Amity Park.
“At this point, he is most likely still…” he hesitated slightly before the next word, “alive.”  He wasn’t convinced anything could kill Danny.  The kid seemed invulnerable, for all intents and purposes, and even as a human, he could do incredible things.
Maddie made a strangled noise on the other side of the line.
“We’d like you to come down to the station,” continued Collins.  “Keep your phone on and with you.  It’s possible you’ll be contacted for ransom.”  Possible, but highly unlikely.  The Fentons were well-off, but not to this degree.
“I don’t have time,” said Maddie.  “I have to look.”
“We’re looking.”
“You aren’t ghost hunters.  It’s almost certainly a ghost that took him.”
“There’s reason to believe that is not the case.  Mrs. Fenton.  Maddie.  It’s possible that you saw or heard something important before you left or earlier this week.”
Maddie was quiet on the other side of the line.  “You think I had something to do with this?” she asked, a thread of danger running through her words.
“Not as such, no.  This is just– this is just procedure.  We need to look into everyone.  We’re talking to Jack, too.”
“Is that why you think it was humans who did this?”
Again, the reason for that was more the bloodied bag, but, again, he wasn’t talking about that.  “Go to the station and you can ask him yourself.”
“Are you not at the station?”
Crap, what had he said to make her think that?  “That’s–”
“You’re still at Fentonworks, aren’t you?”
“No?” said Collins.
Maddie hung up on him.
Great.  She was on her way and she’d be on the warpath.  He hit redial.
“Hello?” said Maddie, in a way that told him that she hadn’t looked at the caller ID and that she was considering what he’d said about ransoms.
“Look, Maddie, I know you were going up to see if you could get permission to exhume the body.  Could we– If you go to the station, we can get that started right away.  We have the equipment ready to go, the medical examiner is ready.  Everything is ready.”
“You–”
“This is a crime scene, Maddie.  You can’t be here.”
“It’s my house.  And my son.”
“I know, I know.  We care about Danny, too.  But he’s not here.  You can’t help him here.”
There was quiet on the other side of the line.
“Fine.”
.
“So,” said Paterson.  “You went to the door and… what, again?”
“I already told him,” said Jack, who was sitting on the back of an ambulance, getting poked and prodded by an EMT.  “Can’t he tell you?”
“Sure,” said Paterson, glancing sideways at McGee, “but can you run me through it again?  For reference?  Sometimes, we remember things better the second time around.”
“I went to the door, and started feeling dizzy, but I opened it up - I shouldn’t have done that.  Should have realized that something was wrong.  I opened it up, and there was this duffel bag there.”
“Do you remember anything about the duffel bag?”
“It was taped over in weird places.  Patched.  Uh.  It might have been blue?  Or green?  But after I saw it, I just passed out.  I don’t know what it was about it that made me pass out.”
“Oxygen deprivation,” said the EMT.
“What?”
“Right, you said I wasn’t breathing before, so–”
“Which was caused by oxygen deprivation.  You show all the signs.  Whoever it was that did this must have released a huge amount of nitrogen or something similar into the area immediately in front of your door.”
“I didn’t feel like I couldn’t breathe, though.”
“You wouldn’t.  Our reflex to breathe is triggered by the presence of carbon dioxide, not the absence of oxygen.  Without rescue breaths, you would have died of asphyxiation.”
“That’s a thing?” asked Paterson, scrunching her nose.
“Yeah,” said Jack.  “You can’t really work as a scientist without at least hearing about it.”
“People have died from it before,” said the EMT.  “You’re probably going to be fine, you were found fast, but you still need to go to the hospital.”
“But I need to find Danny.”
“They wouldn’t have stuck around,” said Paterson.  “We’ve already got everyone looking for Danny.  Amber Alert and everything.”
“Do you think they did the same thing to Danny?  The nitrogen thing?”
“It would have been in the house, yeah,” said the EMT.
“Okay,” said Paterson, “so we should look for someone who bought a whole lot of nitrogen tanks or something?  What do people even use those for?”
The EMT shrugged.  “Science, I guess.  You ready to go, Mr. Fenton?”
“Alright,” said Jack.
“Hey, wait,” said McGee, “I’m not done yet–”
“Then you can come talk to him at the hospital,” said the EMT.  “George!  Come over and help me!”
The EMTs packed Jack into the ambulance and drove away.
McGee stared after it, tapping his foot.  “Do you think these kidnappers were able to revive Danny, or are we going to be looking for a corpse?”
“Don’t say things like that,” said Paterson.  She’d already seen Danny’s corpse once, after all, she didn’t need to see it again.  “It’s bad luck.”
.
Danny woke slowly.  He felt unpleasantly bruised, for one, and for another, the last thing he remembered was getting kidnapped, which was generally not a precursor to happy fun times.
He peeled open eyes that felt disgustingly bloodshot, and looked around.  There wasn’t much to see.  The room he was in was small, clean, and bare, and he was lying down on a bed.  Someone had even tucked him in.
Creepy.  Not that kidnapping wasn’t creepy in and of itself, but this was especially creepy.
He struggled to sit up, and discovered that he’d been wrapped in a kind of improvised straitjacket.  Several layers of blankets were wrapped around him and held in place by belts.  He strained against them, but unfortunately whatever the cult from the other night had done was still holding strong.  No powers for him, not even a little bit.
And Danny didn’t even know why these people had taken him.
His legs were still free, so, with a little extra maneuvering, he got up and walked around the room.  The one door didn’t even have a handle.
He was stuck.
His mouth suddenly even drier than it had been, he swallowed.  He was stuck.  Trapped.  Hadn’t even figured his way out of this frankly embarrassing ‘straightjacket.’
The door opened, and Danny stumbled back, overbalancing and thumping into the wall.  Severa masked figures walked in.
“Oh, he’s perfect!”
They came in, crowding him.
“Back off!”  Danny kicked out, but he was at a bad angle, and the first of the mask-wearers was able to get close enough that Danny couldn’t do anything other than try to bite, which didn’t really work if the person you were trying to bite was holding your face.
“Just perfect.”  They tilted Danny’s head this way and that, and Danny couldn’t pull away.  “Age, of course, is important, but appearance, too.  I hadn’t realized…”  They fell to muttering.
Danny’s eyes flicked from mask to mask.  They were plain white plastic with the eyes blacked out with some kind of fabric.  Simple, but effective.  Danny didn’t know who these people were.
“Yes, our sponsor was right.  You’ll do perfectly.  Perfectly.”  They patted Danny’s cheek.
“Sponsor?”  Danny didn’t want to interact with these people at all, but he needed information.
“I know you must be so frightened.  We would have tried a more peaceful way, but those ghost hunters…  They would never see reason.”
The other mask-wearers shifted, grumbling.
“The number of times they have assaulted our lord–  No, no, we had to get you somewhere safe.  After all, you are to be the host for our lord, Phantom.”
Well.  That.
What?
He stared at the masked person, uncomprehending as they waxed poetic about Phantom’s - his - virtues.  Many of which Danny didn’t have.
“... honor, to be chosen, and an honor, too, to be here to witness.  But, of course, you’ve asked after our sponsor.  He asked to meet with you.”  They ran their hand through Danny’s hair, which was just.  Bad.  “Yes.  We have followed his word for some time, and he has never led us wrong, you know.”
Danny didn’t know.  And he didn’t want to meet this ‘sponsor’ they were talking about.
“He’ll be coming soon,” said the masked person.  “You’ll talk, and then… then we prepare.”
The masked people filed out of the room and closed the door behind them.  Danny futilely tried to open the door, in case they hadn’t closed it properly.  Frustrated, he sat down on the bed.
Another cult.  A different one, too, if he knew anything about cults, which was not a sentence he’d have expected to say before he became a half ghost.  Worse, not only was it another cult, it was another Phantom cult.  What part of his behavior as Phantom made people think he wanted cults?
Superman didn’t have to deal with this.
Superman was fictional.
Maybe he could use the walls or the edge of the cot to shift the belts around, and from there he could use the buckles to… pick the nonexistent lock on the door.  Right.  Not likely.  Maybe he could do something to - no, the hinges were on the outside.  At least, he could use them as a weapon, probably?  Maybe–
Danny’s ghost sense went off, and he tensed.  He wasn’t ready for a fight, but he was ready to be a pain, assuming this ghost was involved, and make a plea for escape, if they weren’t.
A ghost phased through the door.
Danny hissed.
“Plasmius.”
“Hello, little badger.”

I'mma keep it coming with I wanna see your head canons for Danny tbh I wonder if we're similar about the boy. So I guess 002
How I feel about this character:
I love him, I really do! I had such a crush on Danny when I was a teen, made worse (or better, idk) by the fact that when the show aired, I was also just entering high school. So it was one of those, "oh look! A socially awkward teen also has to deal with the stress of living! He's just like me fr (minus the ghost powers on my part)!"
All the people I ship romantically with this character:
Romantically? Vlad, Valerie, Clockwork, and Dan, but mostly Vlad.
Want to see him get railed and ruined and crying? Dan, Nocturne, Skulker, Wulf, Walker.
My non-romantic OTP for this character:
Tucker and Sam (provided Sam can get over some of her holier-than-thou attitude)
My unpopular opinion about this character:
This boy doesn't have a dominant bone in his entire body. I don't like reading top Danny fics, my boy deserves a break, and I'm also not a fan when he's taller and beefier than Vlad either. I stan a short king and I will take no criticism.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:
It's a kids' show, so I know this was never gonna happen, but I would have loved to see him have a full psychological break. I'm talking an entire episode dedicated to Danny having a complete and total panic attack, Batman the Animated Series style. Parents want to catch and study him, one of his best friends keeps pushing him to do the superhero thing, parents and peers are pressuring him to date said pushy friend, he's failing in school, he can't retaliate against his primary bully, his future is screwed if he doesn't watch himself, the ghosts keep coming and they won't fucking stop, his sister keeps giving him these worrying looks like she's worried, why should she be worried? He's fine, everything's fine, he's only half-dead, what's the big deal?
Danny eventually has that panic attack the closer he gets to graduating, unsure of his future, scared he's gonna fail and never be able to leave Amity Park, terrified that all he has to look forward to is fighting ghosts and running/hiding from his parents. His future is forever uncertain because the alternate time line, and his friends can't understand, even if they're trying, but they just can't know what's going on with him, and he sees the fear in their eyes every time he brings up that dark future. He could go to Clockwork, but Clockwork will only give so much advice. He doesn't share more than is necessary to keep time in tact, so he eventually breaks and goes to Vlad. Who else could possibly understand if not the only other halfa in existence?
Basically, I would have loved to see him become increasingly overwhelmed until he had no choice but to run away and go to Vlad's. They make a temporary truce long enough for them to bond over their shared plight.
my OTP:
Pompous Pep, of course (you will pry this ship from my cold, dead hands)
my cross over ship:
None
a headcanon fact:
Danny totally had a crush on Vlad the first time they met. He thought he was handsome and charming and all that gross first crush stuff, and he actually enjoyed talking with him, even if him hitting on his mom was super fucking weird. Danny could look past that because he knew his mom wasn't interested, was happily married, and when Vlad wasn't focused on her, he could be pretty cool. Too bad he had to go and ruin it by revealing his evil intentions.

Edric x reader where the reader is like a big sister figure to Amity? Thank you
Don't do genders. Older sibling let's go
~~~
Edric was so happy when he met you. You got along with Emira, his parents approved of you, and best of all his little sister Amity really seemed to like you. Plus you both loved illusion magic and had interests in other tracks so you didn't judge him for his experiments with mixed magic. It was hard to tick off all his boxes but he finally found someone and you were perfect for him.
You worked at the library with Amity as an assistant to the Head librarian. This is how he met you. He'd often visit the library in secret to find books about beast keeping or potions to research in his free time. But he also went there to playfully cause trouble and mess with his little sister who read to the kids.
One day however, you were there and he was confused because Amity was scheduled for this time. As you began to read he became enamoured with the story noticing how you used little illusions to help the kids understand the story better. Your illusions reminded him of the Wailing Star with how real they were and soon he was sucked into your story telling wanting to know what would happen next despite it being a kids book. Amity comes up behind him demanding what he wants and Edric is just at a loss for words. You finish the story and look their way having heard Amity. Before she can introduce him and he can meet you he's running away flustered.
He started coming around more often after that encounter. He was embarrassed sure but he just couldn't get you out of his head. Edric tried to defend himself and say he was spending more time at the "boring" library because he wanted to bother Amity but in truth he just wanted to hear your stories and learn more about you. His sisters caught on to his lies quickly despite his well thought out excuses and effort to hide his feelings. Emira wanted to know why her twin was avoiding her and Amity was demanding to know why he seemed to be stalking you. Edric was left a stuttering mess as they interrogated him before he finally blurted out he liked you!
When Amity realized her brothers feelings were genuine she began to set up meeting times for you two to bump into each other playing match maker. You were her coworker but also her friend and she respected and looked up to you a lot. Although the thought of her brother intruding on your friendship bothered her she knew you two would be a good match. Emira gave Edric his space so he could figure his feelings out but always kept an eye on her brother to make sure he was okay. She often gave him pep talks before he went off to find you or relationship advice before making herself scarce. She was proud of her brother for doing this even if she was a little jealous he got a partner first.
Edric took it slow and safe. Despite being perceived as a very confident teen with a carefree attitude he had a lot of insecurities and was worried about jumping straight into a relationship with you. He wanted to be your friend before your boyfriend. He had a reputation for being a heart breaker at Hexside and he didn't want you to think awful things about him before he even had a chance. You however were not one to judge a book by its cover.
(Amity had also been acting as his wingman in secret, saying really nice though sometimes embarrassing things about her brother to you)
You help him find books about different types of magic with no judgement and even have some suggestions for the tracks he was studying. You took him seriously and we're always kind and maybe even flirty? He knows it was your job to help him but it was more than that. Making people happy and comfortable, it was just who you were.
You laughed at his dumb jokes, enjoyed when he pranked rude people in the library, and had long discussions with him about things he couldn't talk to anyone else about. You saw his silly troublemaker side but you reached deeper and saw who he was behind his bad boy persona. You talked about anything and everything and even snuck him in after hours for fun. You obviously enjoyed your talks together and soon you were holding his hand and bumping his shoulder. You weren't official yet but... you were both getting there. Something he was excited for.
When you invited him to cast the illusions while you read for the kids he got really excited. No one ever trusted him with something that felt that important. He knew it wasn't a huge deal but to him it meant everything. While you read he cast the most realistic (but kid friendly) illusions he could and really put effort into his magic so he could impress you. The kids were awestruck as he turned your words into a reality, really focusing on your words and bringing them to life. And when the Prince saved the Princess and got to kiss them you smiled taking his hand in yours. It disrupted the illusion but as you brought your lips to his Edric understood and gently kissed back. Some kids made gagging noises but others cooed and as you pulled back you smiled before asking him on a real date. He of course said yes.
Once his parents find out about you and approve of your relationship as you're under a prestigious internship at the library and have very powerful magic he's relieved. You know he has family problems and do your best to be behaved around his parents so they have no reason to split you up. He tells you not to worry but it lingers in your mind regardless. Now that your official and approved of (not that he would've stopped dating you if they said no) he enjoys bringing you to fancy events with him. When you show up he always blushes and smiles at you telling you he can't believe he gets to call you his date. High society functions are not his favorite but with you and his sister at his side he has a lot more fun than he usually does. He really does adore you with his entire being.
His dates outside of family functions can be overly complex or just simple and sweet. He's a romantic at heart and wants you to feel loved in every sense of the word. As someone with money and a larger allowance than most he tends to spend it on you because he's not going to do anything with all these snails. Movies, stadiums being bought out, carnival tickets, concerts, trips, and special firework shows just for you are just some examples of the dates he plans.
He sometimes gets jealous of the relationship you have with his sisters because he wants you all to himself but he keeps that to himself. He knows you've known Amity way longer than him and that you're both close. He also acknowledges that Emira is naturally charismatic and he'd rather your friends than enemies. He also doesn't want you to think he's possessive as you are your own person but he does have tells. He becomes very clingy when he's jealous and his sisters love to tease him about this.
Edric loves to buy you gifts as it's one of his love languages. Flowers, chocolates, books, toys, trinkets, abomination stuff from his family's factory. If he knows you want it or are looking at it he will buy it for you. He tends to spoil you and will insist you don't need to give anything back, your affirmation and love being more than enough. That being said if you got him as many gifts as he got you either bought or hand made he'd be over the moon and it becomes a bit of a competition between you two to see who can spoil the other more.
You hang out with Emira just as much as Edric as they're very important to each other. She enjoys your presence and often teases her brother about how he snagged someone so amazing. She jokingly says you still have time to run and although Edric whines about it, it's all in good fun. You're often pulled into their pranks using your impressive acting and magic skills to help them pull bigger stunts off. You've gotten in trouble before but nothing you can't worm your way out of.
How do you see Luz's family? Like who's in it and playing what part? And be as detailed as you want - need - I'm very curious
Alright, here we go!
Camila, the amazing mama she's had all her life who's relationship has only grown between them and it's stronger than ever. Number 1# support system in the HR and group mom to all the kids
Eda, her loving, crazy mama she gained in the DR. There will always be a special bond between them for Eda being the first person (other than Camila) to except all her qurks and interests embrace her for it. Mom/crazy aunt to all the kids
Raine, her DR parent. Gives great advice especially for anxiety related issues. Absolutely a teen rebellion role model (THE Raine Whispers?!). Teaches her all the best bard spells and is always super patient
Lilith, cool aunt always down for bad girl™ shenanigans and adventures, ready to help with any and all school related questions 24/7
King, little brother. Would do anything for each other and both super protective. Number 1# cuddle buddy. Will always make groan inducing puns together
Amity, her awesome girlfriend/future wife. Her biggest fan and another huge support. Helps each other with self worth issues. Always hanging out and holding hands. Possible Bi awakening. Always ready to pull each other from danger. Enemies to friends to girlfriends
Willow, first and forever best friend. They are sisters hands down. Have been and always will be together through thick and thin. Have helped each other grow SO much since the beginning. Support each other's crazy stunts
Gus, also best friend and her's/Hunter's little brother. Always cheering each other on and lift each other up. Speak in memes. Getting into trouble and shenanigans all the time and giving they're parents grey hairs
Hunter, he's/Gus's older brother and Camila's son. Former enemies to reluctant allies to friends to siblings. Have helped each other through trauma especially Belos related. Have such oldest and youngest syndrome. Endlessly annoy each but would but would also kill for each other
Vee, her's/Hunter's little sister and Camila's daughter. Had a bit of a bumpy start at first but after some hard truths and life or situations are now 100% sisters. Vee seems like the voice of reason but in actuality is incredibly fierce and ready to kill to protect her family. They give each other wildly different dating advice
Emira & Edric, Amity's siblings/Luz's future siblings in-law/Hunter's step siblings??. Chaos twins. Probably founded the Lumity fan club. They are the friends you go to when you "know a guy". Always down to commit illegal acts and have the bail money ready. Constantly teasing
Alador, Amity and Em & Ed's dad/Luz's future father in-law/probably Darius husband/Hunter's step dad??. Very supportive of his kids relationships and always doing his best to make time and listen to them. Thought Luz was a member of the family 5 minutes ago. Probably already has the wedding planned
Darius, rich wine uncle/Hunter's dad/Amity, Em & Ed's step dad??/Alador's husband??. Acts like he doesn't care but will fight anyone who hurts his kid('s). Not so silently judging everyone's outfits. Goes to every sports match. Teaches Amity and Hunter crazy abomination spells because he claims Alador is to much of a hack to be trusted
Eberwolf, fun/crazy uncle/Darius' little brother. Has shown everyone what would probably be considered illegal beast keeping magic. Rides on people's shoulders whenever someone is having a bad day. Gives the kids tips on the best way to annoy Darius
Steve, the guy who just kind of showed up and is now everyone's honorary big brother. Gives rides on motorcycle. Like Em & Ed is also the guy you go to when you "know a guy". Hooks everyone up with a therapist
I hope this is okay! Thank you so much for this ask
Idk if you talked about this before but what's your thoughts on the Blight parents' relationship? Asking this mainly because I saw a long post saying all of Alador's actions were forced by Odalia (even the scene of telling Amity to drop Willow) and the only reason he neglected the kids was because he worked to protect them hence he wasn't abusive. Imo he and Odalia got along fine in their debut so when the "odalia abused alador" reveal dropped it was surprising for me. Since they were also hexside friends, I wonder if the show would've explored that aspect of their relationship before it went downhill (it would've been cool as Odalia as a character feels wasted)
I absolutely have talked about this before, in part because between S1 and 2, the Blight Family was actually one of the most interesting parts about the show for me. They were literally the first blog I wrote about TOH because I thought people treated them unfairly, especially Odalia, because High Society Characters are different from ones we normally sympathize with. If you want to see that version of the Blights, where they're both neglectful and making mistakes but also genuinely meaning well by their kids, I have a story called The Power of Love that explores a LOT of TOH's post S1 potential but especially Amity and her family alongside with making Boscha a real character. I've also just talked about them being shit in the past but I really want to focus on this in this blog: They're both terrible people. Everyone likes to focus on the fact that Odalia is a greedy capitalist but an honest story would recognize that Alador is a mad scientist. That Odalia would sell her children to get ahead while Alador would experiment on them if allowed or if he saw it as useful to his research. He makes robots though, so that's never in question. Amity ONLY gets Alador's attention... By besting his own creation. He watches that whole fight in Escaping Expulsion like he's studying it and liking the results. So yeah, he notices Amity is strong and is able to use that against Odalia to make her not be the dumbest form of villain, so they can claim to have some sort of principles... But how much do you really think that matters to him?
His statement when Luz tries to end the fight by saying the investors get it is that she has a point. Not that they are maybe going too far or that the abomiton's job of destruction is bad but just that the point has been made. Because that's what matters to him. After all, they specifically know that this creature is going to kill Luz. This isn't an interesting experiment for Alador. He doesn't care. He'd rather get this over with so he can go back to his lab.
Even Clouds on the Horizon actually reinforces this. Yes, he complains about not having a weekend off in five years... But that's FIVE. FUCKING. YEARS. There's a point where you know... Maybe he should have complained about this? Questioned anything. But that raises the question of: Before this... What the fuck else was he doing with his time? Both Escaping Expulsion and Reaching Out have him entirely in mad scientist mode where you might distract him for a moment but he will just keep working and ignore everything around him. That's part of WHY he likes Odalia. Odalia loves to talk. Loves to be social. Loves to remove the part he doesn't care about and easily gets distracted during. Even in Clouds on the Horizon, he doesn't explicitly state that his complaint is a lack of time with his kids. He's finally feeling it now because, if we're generous, Amity opened his eyes but... That implies he's a good person. That he just needed a reminder of who he was deep down, just like his daughter did (because Amity frankly has similar issues to this). But... if he were a good person, jokes like 'Immediate execution" would be done instead by having imply that the punishment is very light, revealing that his true nature, when he's not thinking, is kind. But it's not. It's more extreme than expulsion and goes all the way to murder. And why shouldn't it? He still had to have had this talk with Odalia. Agreed with the outcome. Learned the lines. If he was mad about it, he doesn't need to be at that meeting. He could be home working. This was instead important enough to him to get him out of the house. Same goes with dismissing Willow. He took time out of his day for that and didn't keep on script. Him cutting Amity off is not his job there unless he wants it to be. He defers power to Odalia though because she is better than him at this stuff. She is comfortable interacting with other people in ways he is not and their relationship is pretty much divided by those lines. It's very businesslike but neither person actually gives a fuck about people so why shouldn't it be more about collaborating strengths than it is anything emotional? And here's the thing: I'm just going by what the show shows us. Because if we claim Odalia made Alador do everything he does in the show... Who is Alador? We never get a real glimpse of that. If we even say the abomatons aren't something he wants, then he isn't an inventor. The best we have is he'd like to be a layabout and that doesn't technically include his kids. He could just be lazy then and do whatever he wants because that's what he already did... But at least he was making something.
The closest we have to anything else is Amity claiming that he used to spend time with his kids. We have literally no evidence of this, his personality doesn't support the claim, he didn't give a shit about Amity's well being until she challenged his creations as he was entirely on board with destroying social life, twice, so why should we think he was some paragon? Why should we believe Amity who doesn't even go on to ask about his fate once they're back in the Isles and she sees her siblings? Who seemed to care MUCH about her mother's opinion for Reaching Out rather than literally ever bringing up her dad?
It's revisionist in a way that tries to rewrite their dynamic into something more complex than it was. To try and make there be a point to Alador when him having control of the Abomatons doesn't even go anywhere because they still get shot down and still have to leave Alador behind to fight the damn things while they go rescue Luz. Cut out literally the entirety of Clouds on the Horizon and make it the Hexide kids rushing to the Day of Unity instead and you have a different force that can hold back the abomatons while Amity and co go off to help Luz. Worse yet, replace abomatons with "Elite EC Coven Scouts" and you effectively get the same result making Alador and Odalia even more pointless besides a very minor road bump on Amity's character arc all things said and done with how easy her rebellion against them is. They have no point in the story so people are going to scramble for some deeper meaning. Some reason they should exist by having them tackle something as provocative as domestic abuse or the like. But it doesn't. Instead, it's just inconsistent, wasteful writing that has no point to exist when the main character it should be affecting, Amity, is barely a part of any of it. She has some of the least screentime of any character in Escaping Expulsion. She isn't a part of her dad's transformation in Clouds except in an abstract way where Alador just wanting to spend more time video gaming would have been as meaningful with how shit their relationship is at the end of Reaching Out because they wouldn't even let us have a hug in that episode between the two because TOH refuses to just let a plotline end simply even when it involves extremely minor characters. And Reaching Out is the closest we come. An episode where Alador still rigs an entire abomaton to make sure Amity goes to the tryouts without knowing it's Odalia's dream not hers. And if Odalia really was the reason he did EVERYTHING... Shouldn't he know her better than that? Almost like maybe he sees the EC as a good future for Amity too because that's success and he clearly cares about success to some extent. Otherwise, he wouldn't have married a woman as greedy as Odalia. And even if in real life, I've watched a relationship turn toxic the minute they got married, nothing about either character, from their Hexide days, to a decade ago, to now, seems all that different from each other. They just now have kids they neglect or use as free labor. And yes, it's really that simple, no matter how much that fucking blows. And a final note actually: This is my interpretation. We get such little time with Alador and Odalia that statements like "This is why he likes her" are going to be somewhat subjective by how you interpret their relationship. If you think it's as shallow as Alador just found her hot and married her because of that and has been trapped for 16+ years... Well, A: why are you trying to paint him as sympathetic when you seem to not like him? but B: why hasn't her mistreatment been even longer? More over the top? We're just missing basic answers to these characters because they're so bog standard (even if Odalia feels like she comes from the 80s or 90s cartoons more than literally anything I grew up with) that I have to stretch and use literally every scrap of screentime we get with these characters because not only do they get so little of it, their family/kids reflect such little about themselves because none of the elements cohere into something whole. They're bad and really only stand out for that fact versus other one off villains because, well, they're related to Amity. But they're also dealt with just as easily as any villain of the week the show does so they have this weird contrast between Amity's importance and the importance the show actually gives them. Which again: Sucks.
Season 1 of Owl House: complete. And it was fine. It was ok. It was 19 episodes of mostly wasted potential. But that's ok (I guess).
I really liked the 2nd to last episode, which is unfortunate in a way because it made me question even harder why the previous 17 episodes had been so bleh. It really feels like the creators were focusing on all the wrong aspects during this first season. This is gonna get long soooo....
The best example I can think of for how the team wasted time was by them needing to show us repeatedly that Willow gets bullied. Like, I understood that from the 3rd episode. I didn't need to be shown and have entire episodes about how Willow gets bullied. The subplot between Amity and Willow's past also felt unnecessary (Amity saying "I can't be friends with them. They're mean!" did make me go into an actual fit of hysterics though. God forbid Amity just be a nasty, feral demon child). I think one of the benefits of this being a Disney channel Y7 show is that viewers can pick up on little stereotypes and tropes to make inferences about character archetypes and such and get a feel for the characters without needing to be shown or told (and don't tell me kids can't do that. Children are not stupid). Which isn't to say that means they should have removed ALL backstory. It just means IMO that the back stories they focused on really didn't add to the greater story and instead seemed to exist as a way to purge Amity of any wrongdoing.
I didn't mind Lilith's role in the season, but I found her motivations to be muddy and the timeline didn't seem to make much sense. I also found it hard to believe she was forgiven that easily for what she had done. I don't hate Lilith, and I 100% see what they were going for, but I think it needed a bit more time on the writing table/it needed to be mentioned earlier.
Like, instead of Eda learning Lilith is the reason she's cursed, get mad at her, then forgive her in the course of like one week (being generous), have Eda have learned about it years ago. Have Eda be festering in her anger for what her sister did while also missing her terribly. Have Lilith be trying to fix it the only way she knows how to (I'm blatantly ignoring the pain sharing spell because it's dumb). And have them finally make up at the end when the one thing Eda was convinced Lilith would never do - betray the Emperor - is exactly what she does and it's only then they can fix their relationship.
Speaking of the Emperor: I'm into that funky dude. I liked his little chair (both of them!). I liked that he had a cool room. LOVED the beating heart over him. Liked the thought of him dealing with elementary school children in his house. He seems threatening? He has a cool blue eye. Willing to do public executions. All good things IMO. My only complaint is that he was such a non-entity for every other episode this season.
I think it would have been really cool to drop little hints about him throughout the earlier episodes, but because we see the world through the eyes of Luz it gets brushed off/not addressed. For example, statues of him in the background, or the book King was reading in the finale on a table during the library episode. Just anything so when he does finally appear it means something lmao.
These thoughts are very disjointed and I'm sorry if they don't make sense. But I also feel like that's the best way to summarize my feelings towards The Owl House season 1. It was disjointed. It was sloppy. It went off on unnecessary tangents. It had plots that seemed interesting and then made no sense or got dropped.
I still love Amity even though she is already starting to be a shell of her former self. I like Belos even though I know he turns out to be one big nothing burger. But even still, I'm tentatively positive Season 2 will be more solid.
pspsps manifesting more darius blight au thoughts? they may be rent free but i would pay 👀👀👀
*cracks knuckles* alright here we go:
-alador and darius can't decide if they should both just be called "dad" or if one should be "dad" and the other should be something like "papa". but the kids come to an unspoken consensus that they are both generally called "dad" but if it's a situation where it might be ambiguous, they are "aladad" and "dadrius"
-alador finds this funny and delightful. darius finds it a little bit endearing but very cheesy/lame, but he doesn't do anything to discourage it
-edric and hunter are both extremely prone to infodumping and their interests have a good bit of overlap, so they infodump to each other a lot. this can go on for hours on end.
-alador is the type of person to bond with people a lot via shared interests. and he worries that with himself, darius, and amity all being into abominations, the other three kids might feel left out. so he tries to learn a little bit about edric, emira, and hunter's interests.
-with hunter and edric, he just has to bring the subject up (and periodically encourage them that no, he's not bothered by how much they're talking and would love to hear more), and they'll go from there. alador knows he probably COULD let himself space out and just nod along, but he's determined to actually pay attention and learn about what his kids like, leading to him sometimes straightup taking notes and asking questions to keep himself engaged.
-emira's more reserved about her interests, you can't just get her to go on a full spiel like you can with her brothers. alador kinda has to study up on the stuff she likes beforehand so he can have a full two-sided conversation with her
-basically he took amity's "you never talk to us!" criticism to heart and makes sure to talk to all of them. he also makes an effort to ask them about how their day was and how they're feeling, but talking about interests is way more in his wheelhouse
-(absolutely no one in this whole family is neurotypical)
-darius, despite pretending otherwise, is generally the one to go to to talk about personal issues. he provides good emotional support and also will absolutely not hesitate to join his kids in shit-talking a high-schooler he's never met
-he's also the better one to go to for advice. except he's like, 95% really good advice and 5% the worst advice you have ever heard in your life. no in-betweens. (alador has seldom made a good decision in his life, so usually the only useful advice from him is what NOT to do)
-i already headcanon that in canon, (when she doesn't just use a concealment stone) emira makes edric or amity braid her hair for her. she soon starts going to the rest of her family for help with her hair too.
-hunter picks up this skill surprisingly fast; turns out the emperor's coven has given him boyscout level skills with braiding and knotwork
-she's only asked alador for help a couple times because, as much as he tries, he is just awful at it. and he'll consider a sloppy braid to be good enough because it serves the basic purpose of keeping the hair out of her eyes. also his hands are covered in something gross like 90% of the time.
-darius is the best at it but she only goes to him on special occasions because she'll ask for a single simple braid that should only take a couple minutes. and come out over half an hour later with a cramped neck, looking like an elven princess. (callout post to my aunt who used to do this exact thing to me back when my hair was super long, lol)
-darius insists that amity inherited the purple hair from him, despite them not being genetically related and purple not being either of their natural hair colour
-hunter kinda studies all the tracks but has taken a particular interest in potions. he and edric visit eda together for potions lessons and have a pretty fun time
-sometimes (but not every time) emira will tag along. sometimes just because she wants to hang out/feel included (especially if amity is ALSO going to the owl house to visit luz), but sometimes because whatever potion they're learning will have use in her healing magic
-once every month or so, alador and darius will get into a witch's duel. not in an unhealthy spouses getting angry and fighting way. they just genuinely wanna know who would win. it keeps happening because whoever loses will insist it was a fluke and demand they schedule a rematch. they've both won about an equal number of times. the kids bring popcorn. it's pretty fun for everyone involved.
-amity wants to try to join in and insists she could take either of them in a fight. but they refuse to fight a child. she is irritated by this and is like, "father, i crave violence" but they won't budge
-though if she sees either of them use a particularly cool move, she will write it down and get them to teach it to her later, which they always gladly do
-amity and hunter had similar duels til their dads found out and put a stop to it (amity had a slight winning streak going)
-hunter looks LESS sickly now that he's under the care of decent adults but he's still kinda Like That. he makes emira's older sister instincts flare up so bad and she has to repeatedly remind herself that she's not solely responsible for her siblings' wellbeing
-darius is the only one here who understands a healthy sleep schedule (i mean, he was often overworked as a covenhead but he at least TRIED to get enough sleep every night). he's pretty much enstated an unofficial bedtime for everyone else in the house, in which he scolds everyone to go to sleep before he himself goes to bed.
-hunter's got a lot of the same human food limitations as luz but to a much less severe degree, so amity has him be kind of a guinea pig for the things she bakes for luz (something that would make luz seriously ill would just give hunter a slight stomach ache). edric insists on also getting a sample because, like luz, he can't have dairy (it's a flimsy excuse). emira insists on also getting a sample because it's not fair that they get some and she doesn't. amity's not even that good of a baker yet but they're teenagers and free dessert is free dessert
-even though she doesn't play any sports anymore, amity kinda likes watching watching them (she knows the most about grudgeby and brawls but can get into pretty much anything). hunter starts off watching pro flyer derby to learn techniques but ends up also genuinely enjoying watching various sports. he and amity watch professional sportsball together and get SUPER hyped. like. jumping and shouting like a dad on superbowl sunday type of hyped. it's even worse if they're rooting for opposite teams.
okay so i don’t WANT a locked tomb au for the owl house, but hoo boy does my brain try to lump all my most recent fixations together. so, a few details
1. hunter and belos are from the eighth house. you know, the one that sucks the life force out of cavaliers just cuz. you’ll never guess who’s the cavalier here.
2. lilith is one of the first lyctors. her cav killed herself so that lilith would HAVE to ascend, and while it eats lilith up inside, she knows it was for the best. (all of the rest of the necros have gone through with it and ascended now). except, of course, eda. who’s still clutching raine’s living hand like a lifeline, and who lilith has heard whispering about... packing up with raine and fleeing the houses entirely.
so lilith kills raine, and offers eda the choice to either lose them entirely or ascend. and it’s.... it’s fucking awful. but what other choice is there now? there’s just ways to numb the pain and to try to cling to the sister that she loves so dearly, even after everything that lily did to her.
3. gus is the necro from the fourth, which is why he and mattholomule are so incomprehensibly young. neither of them were really supposed to be there. gus had older cousins; his dad wasn’t even in charge of the fourth until he was five or so! but his dad’s older siblings died and then his cousins died and suddenly, gus is the necromatic heir and he’s not a kid anymore he’s a necro with a cav and battle experience and he doesn’t know how to deal with any of it. matt’s older brother, steve, was the cav to gus’s last older, necromatic cousin.
it’s supposed to be an honor, serving with the heir to the house, but with how many of them have dropped dead in the past year, it’s hard for matty to think of it as anything but a death sentence. (steve thought he’d be the first cav of this generation to see an heir through to proper adulthood... but he wasn’t. he barely saw matt through cav training before he was blown up trying to protect the necro that didn’t make it out anyway)
but gus is... nice. and they share the same interests, and he isn’t mean to matt about not being tough or strong or old enough. gus keeps promising him that he’s not going to get treated like bria, the absolutely AWFUL necro he trained with before gus came of age and they met up and meshed instead.
and they both uphold that as well as they can as thirteen year old boys. but they’re still a necro and cav, and that dynamic is doomed from the start.
4. ed and em are coronabeth and ianthe from the third. they are the richest and most influential house. ed isn’t a necromancer, just like coronabeth. amity is the younger, cavless necro sister who their mother forces to tag along because “the emperor requested our heir and our cavalier primary! there’s NO reason that amity couldn’t learn a thing or two to bring back, directly, to the third house. right, amity dear?”
amity is tired of living in her siblings’ shadows and is going to learn what she can and sabotage them.
5. willow is something approximating ACTUAL dulcinea from the seventh house, and in true seventh fashion, she’s dying. she’s been dying since she was born, basically. she’s very strong but tries to restrain herself from overuse of her powers to preserve her own life and that of others. she thinks that thalergy is a better source than thanergy and is running experiments to see if she positively affect plants.
boscha is her cav because boscha is The Best In Their Age Cohort TM but they do not, on any level, get along. boscha thinks that she’s weak and that she can bully willow into being a “better” necro or at least just fucking dying already. it’s... ugly. willow has the social power in the relationship and is VERY powerful at necromancy, but with her kind disposition and lack of inclination to use those powers... oof.
6.  luz isn’t a necro, and she isn’t a cav... she’s a dav’s caughter when her mom gets called away with her necro, the current master warden of the sixth house.
“luz, this is my job.”
“but you could get hurt!”
her mother sighs. “which is my job, mija.”
“you’re a sixth cav!” luz protests, “you weren’t even supposed to see combat! ever!” camilla noceda learned everything that she possibly could so that she could fight her way into the program and offered Outside Knowledge TM to the scholars, which combined with her abilities and ties to the warden are the only things keeping her position stable.
(luz’s mother hates that she’s taken it up as well, but she can’t really blame her. luz is SO clever and so creative, but so much of the sixth house is dedicated to the parts of academia that are difficult for her. maintaining her position requires something like this... which doesn’t make it less painful to her mother.)
“you can’t leave me here,” luz begs. her mother is the only person who has ever been kind to her. as a teenage refugee from the world outside the houses, THIS camilla was basically only able to get clearance to stay by becoming a cavalier. and she did, but luz is strange and impulsive and silly and only HALF house, and it makes it so that even though her life should be easier than her mother’s... it isn’t.
so luz stows away on the ship to try to protect her mom from Whatever the Fuck Lyctorhood Looks Like, and if not at least go to live with her. the emperor is in charge of everything. he can make some room for a lyctor’s DAUGHTER
her mother doesn’t find out about her stowing away until they’re already at caanan house, and by that point, it’s too late to send someone back.
her mother tries to misdirect her and keep her out of whatever’s happening, luz ends up doing research with a group of friends who come very close to lyctorhood... and figuring out that it’s not something anyone... ANYONE... should actually want.
the gang who decide LyctorHood Is Bad DON’T DO IT PLEASE: hunter who would like not to get literally eaten on top of the things that his uncle already puts him through, willow who thinks that’s an awful thing to do to a person and has never wanted the relationship she has to have with bosha, amity who at this point is more invested in making sure that her siblings don’t Become Saints more than any issue of morality, luz who is doing her research and trying to talk her mom into Not Doing That WHAT THE FUCK, and then gus and matt who are thirteen and just don’t want to die, dear god.
willow and hunter keep sneaking away from their partners who keep trying to Do More Of This Nonsense and then end up... accidentally doing More Of This Nonsense. but like. together and consensually. (hunter: i’m already a battery! i don’t mind being one for you instead <3 willow: oh god oh no oh SHIT)
luz and amity Accidentally a cavnecro bond, but they refuse to do any of the tests because luz has seen how much it’s been taking out of her mom and amity wants to beat her siblings, but god she’s not THAT desperate. she kinda likes this perky little swordwielding weirdo, and they both have a very specific fantasy series of books that they like in addition to studying necrocav things. (yes, there is a good witch azura in the nine houses. because i say so!)
the people cytherea kills: both of the early twenties girls from the second, em’s cav from third, matt while he and gus are separated, the real grownups from the fifth, camilla and the warden from the sixth (rip but this is not a story with parents). cytherea and her cav stand ins are from the ninth here. I PRAY THE TOMB STAYS LOCKED FOREVER BITCH (i had my fingers crossed)
when we get to the end and know what’s going on, kinda, we get one full lyctor. this combo comes from... belos and boscha. they each realized their partner was avoiding them to work together. and NEITHER of them were giving up on this dream. so. uh. in the end belos kills boscha for lyctorhood and to join cytherea’s Whatever She Was Doing. and boscha was happier with that solution than she EVER was with willow’s “please stop trying to die for me”.
with em’s cav dead already, even if she wanted to go full ianthe, she couldn’t.... except ed offers, and em goes WHAT THE FUCK and then. they do not do that. (hunter does though. he throws himself on a sword to give his life force to willow full griddlehark style).
willow ends up lobotomizing herself enough to keep hunter from getting destroyed, but it puts her at a serious disadvantage. while she doesn’t owe belos any favors because he didn’t help, he still hates her for “stealing” hunter and also completing his feat and diluting the credit that he gets and the attention.
while belos and willow are carted off by OG lyctors and jod himself, the rest of the gang are captured by the blood of eden. ed decides to do a corona and join up, as is his right as the non-necromatic twin forced to pretend about it. gus isn’t either old enough or patriotic enough to be judith deuteros wholesale, but he IS a deeply powerful necromancer who’s traumatized by the loss of his cav, his new friends, imprisonment and *gestures to everything*. plus, his mind, necromancy, and maybe a resurrection beast are all attacking him. so. that’s FUN
luz and amity at least get off easier than cam and pal do in canon because they are in their own bodies and luz doesn’t have to go on a Skull Hunt TM, but it’s still not great for them being POWs.
while ed is mainly Being Corona, he isn’t fully on that side. he’s continuing to play along that amity is a fellow cav and that em and gus are the only necromancers that the blood of eden has in its possession. they want a LYCTOR to study, but they aren’t getting one.
probably. at least not now.
7.  not entirely sure how it would work because this is a half-baked textpost au but i feel like the collector as jod, a more feral and hurting version of king as alecto and bby normal king as nona would work... very very well. ESPECIALLY with lumity in their own bodies and raine! in eda’s body baby sitting a very confused little king... in willow park’s body.
willow and hunter are holding hands in a river bubble. it’s fine!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chapter Summary:  Danny and Jazz are safe in the hands of the Justice League. What about Sam and Tucker? This is what happened that fateful day, from their perspective.
Teaser: They hadn’t really expected that safe place to be Gotham City, despite the fact that Jazz was determined to go there. While they had more than enough cash to see them through a couple of months if they were careful, having a safe, rent-free place to wait things out was very appealing. The only issue was deciding if they could trust their benefactor. The pair had only met with Jason for a short while, and they thought he was pretty cool. Unfortunately being cool didn’t mean he was looking out for their best interests. Something had happened between the man and Jazz that made her believe in him, though. Still, taking his help meant trusting him with their lives–with Danny’s life. That was a big step. They carried the communicator that Danny had given them that morning, anyway, but they hadn’t used it yet. Tucker hadn’t had time to take it apart and look for hidden tracking devices. The single reason they kept it was because it was the only way to contact Jazz. She trusted Jason, and that was enough for Danny. Now it had to be enough for them as well.
Tucker’s thoughts were a scattered whirlwind, and he jumped when the communicator began beeping. Sam was driving, so Tucker cautiously took the call. He pressed the device to his ear and clicked the button. “Hello?”
“Hey kid, this is Jason, Jazz’s friend. Remember me from yesterday? I’m the one who gave these com units to Danny in case he ran into trouble he couldn’t get out of. I didn’t expect him to need it so soon, though.”
Tucker could hear the dude sigh through the coms. “Yeah man, I know what you mean.” He replied. “Things are crazy right now.” He realized that he hadn’t introduced himself. “Um, by the way, this is Tucker, Danny’s friend. I’m with Sam. We’re headed out your way—at least that’s the plan.”
“I know; I talked to Jazz. She was worried because she hadn’t heard from you guys.” Tucker grimaced. His lack of trust had made the hard situation worse for Jazz. They should have used the coms as soon as they were out of Amity Park.
He was broken out of his thoughts when Jason continued. “My dad is sending people to pick her and Danny up and get them taken care of. He has an extra apartment in Gotham that he wants me to take you guys to stay at. No one would ever suspect you being there. You’d be safe.”
Tucker really wished that the communicator had a speaker attachment. “Hold on, let me talk to Sam.” He turned to his friend. “It’s Jazz’s friend, Jason, on the communicator. He says his dad has an apartment in Gotham where we can stay if we want. What do you think?”
Sam looked ragged. Her hands were stained green with Danny’s ectoplasm and her clothes were flecked with ruddy brown spots from when she kicked Jack Fenton in the face. She knew that as soon as those monsters were found that the police would be on their trail. If they were found. They should have just chucked the pair into the Ghost Zone. She realized that they were going to have to alert the authorities at some point so that their crimes didn’t extend to murder.
She turned to Tucker. “Tell him that we’re probably going to be in trouble with the law for what we did rescuing Danny. Make sure he understands what he’s getting into. He may not want to get involved.”
Tucker relayed the information to Jason, who, surprisingly, laughed. “I wouldn’t worry about that. They’re the ones who are going to have to face Justice, not you guys. Besides, my dad has connections. We’re not worried about what you had to do.”

What Owl House means to me
TW!: Self Harm, Depression (undiagnosed), anxiety (undiagnosed), suicidal thoughts
The finale of owl house has hit me very hard. I am writing this as of April 7th, 2023, 10:53 pm, EST, approximately 11-12 hours before Watching a dreaming airs and most likely longer before I see it.
I didn’t join the Owl House bandwagon until about a year after it’s release. I binged watched all of season 1 in a day in July, on a shitty loft bed in a cabin on my great aunt’s lake, ignoring my asshole cousin and her asshole friends. This was a few months after I had come out as Bi
I fell in love with the show instantly. The main character was an undiagnosed adhd bisexual bullied kid, just like me. People didn’t understand her just like nobody understood me. She escaped to magical worlds just like me. She was close with her mother, just like me. She was everything to me.
Her best friend, Willow, was a plus sized and bullied girl, just like me.
Her best friend, Gus, was considered a gifted kid in his field who got tricked by people he trusted a lot, just like me
Her love interest had a parent encourage her to stop being friends with someone for being the wrong sort, just like me
It felt like the show was made just for me, with every character being a reflection of my own qualities. I was about to start 8th grade, and I was worried about showing up to my Catholic school open and bi. This show helped me with my fear.
And then August 31st, 2021 happened. I started my first relationship ever, as well as my first relationship with a girl. And Owl house was there for that
During the whole time we were dating, Owl House was there. We were both big fans, and recited quotes of Amity and Luz to each other, the dumb gay fangirls we were.
During the rocky parts of our relationship when it felt like there was nothing we could talk about, we could talk about owl house.
And Owl House was there October 2nd, 2022, when we decided to end it. There are still scenes I struggle to watch because of it. She and I are still best friends, and we still are dumb fangirls, but the show will never feel like it did before.
But like a metaphor for my life, my love for Lumity was overshadowed by Huntlow. As I started to be more into guys, the straight passing ship of Owl House rose to be my favorite. I still love Lumity, but like my relationship, it lost it’s thrill. As if when she and I broke up, Lumity did too.
Huntlow also connected to me because it displayed a curvy girl being adored by this attractive guy. He had a crush on her, not the other way around. Guys didn’t/don’t like me because of my weight a lot, so seeing that couple on screen gave me hope that a guy like Hunter was out there, waiting for me.
And Owl house was there during another time too. Before she and I broke up, before Huntlow became my brainrot, before I even knew anyone was shipping Hunter with people, I was hurting.
Spring 2022 was the worst time for my mental health ever. I was forced into a musical with 4 weeks to learn my lines and if I didn’t in time I would be screamed at by my director. I would put off lines to read fanfic or belt songs out of my vocal range to ruin my voice so I wouldn’t have to do the show. I committed self harm. Every night I prayed God would make it stop or kill me. I had horrible nightmares about my director and the show. It got so bad it felt like I was looking at the face of a dark black vortex, ready to suck me into the deep end where I would die. I had a horrible panic attack on stage during rehearsal, one time. I couldn’t breath, I bawled my eyes out, I scratched and ripped at my arms.
and a few days later, Hollow Mind came out, and Hunter had a panic attack on screen.
I knew it was a different situation. He was breaking from an abusive household while I was just being dramatic about a shitty play (at least that’s what people told me.) And yet, I felt seen. I saw myself in hunter, just like I saw myself in all of the other characters. That day on, he was my favorite. He still is.
So Owl House ending feels like a punch in the gut to me. It hurts so much that I’ll never see these characters on screen again. I’ll (probably) never see Hunter and Willow kiss on screen, canonically. Almost like a metaphor for me never being kissed myself.
And what makes it even worse, is that because of scheduling issues, I can’t watch it live with you all. I’ll probably have to watch it on my phone, on YouTube, hours or even days after it releases. Almost another metaphor for how in 5th grade, my friend was forced to leave the school and I was absent the day he said goodbye to everyone. An event that defines me and my emotions a lot.
So there you have it. Sorry for the trauma dump, but I needed to vent about why this show means so much to me and why I’m heartbroken it’s ending before it’s all over.
i have full faith this fandom will not die. Us weirdos have to stick together.
But that doesn’t make this any less painful for me
I’m sure a lot of you feel the same
Thank you for reading, it means a lot.
Sincerely, Ceci
