⇢ ˗ˏˋ broken promises pt. 2 ࿐ྂ
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: Rafe promised to take you out and spend your birthday with you, but you don’t hear from him all day and then suddenly he shows up at your door trying to explain. (this is part 2 to the birthday girl angst blurb! i changed the title for the series so it was more appealing)
cw: mentions of drug use, angst, nothing crazy (yet lmao)
wc: 1.2k
notes: i'm excited to write this since its my first series! lmk if there's anything you guys would wanna see in future chapters :)
previous chapters: part 1
Tumblr media
You wake up to your alarm droning on annoyingly and feel around aimlessly with your eyes closed to turn it off. Once you had finally woken up on your own accord, you realized you should talk to Rafe. You hadn't spoken to him or left your house the last few days. Obviously, you missed him, but you just felt so hurt and angry with him.
After getting ready and using makeup to look a little more alive and less blotchy from crying so much, you decided you'd go up to Tannyhill to try and talk to Rafe. You left your house, hopped on your bike, and started towards the estate. The whole ride there, you just kept going over what you wanted to say but nothing seemed right. Before you knew it, you were at the front entrance.
You walked inside and heard voices in the distance coming from upstairs. Once you made your way upstairs, you heard the voices more clearly coming from Rafe's room. It was Rafe and another person whose voice you couldn't pinpoint.
"Come on, man you gotta understand where I'm comin' from. I've just been stressed out. Nothing a good time won't fix."
You looked into the room and saw Rafe sitting with some guy you've never seen. There was a table in between them that had some rolled-up bills and coke sitting on it.
You walked inside the room, still unnoticed until you spoke. "Hey, Rafe."
Both of their heads snapped in your direction, and Rafe immediately shot up, walking towards you.
"Shit... I uh- I didn't know you were coming over." He looked back at the man who just sat there unbothered. "Barry, can you uh give us a minute..."
"So let me get this straight, you went to a party and got high, missed my entire birthday, and after I tell you I'm pissed off your next line of action is to get high again with your drug dealer, right?"
Before Rafe could speak, Barry grabbed his stuff and started walking out. "A'ight man hit me up when y'all are done dealing with this shit."
Rafe waited until he thought Barry was far enough before closing the door and speaking, "Can you blame me? I don't hear from you for days so I assumed you didn't wanna be with me anymore! I tried to talk to you and you straight up ignored me."
"I was angry Rafe! I just needed some time to myself. That doesn't mean I'm breaking up with you and it doesn't mean you should start doing drugs again when that is quite literally what we fought about."
This definitely wasn't how you imagined this conversation going. You didn't want to argue with him but your pride wasn't going to let you just back down.
"If you wanted space you could've told me," he sighed. "And I am sorry that I got high at that party and I'm sorry I missed your birthday okay? I want to make it up to you."
You walked over to the bed and sat down for a moment with your head in your hands. You loved Rafe, you really did. But you didn't want him falling into his old habits and lying to you about it.
You both sat there in silence as you thought about what you should do and what you should say.
"Rafe I... I think we should just take some time apart. Get our heads straight and figure out what we want-"
He walked over and sat next to you his eyes wide. "Baby I want you, I want to be with you."
"I wanna be with you too, Rafe, but I have conditions. I don't want you doing coke anymore. I don't like the person you are when you get like that. I know you get stressed and feel like it's your only option but you have me. Or maybe try weed and see how that works for you. I also don't want you hanging with Barry anymore. Non-negotiables."
He nods "I swear I'll work on it and I'll talk to Barry. I swear."
You stand up from the bed getting ready to go out the door. "Rafe... I'm gonna go stay with my parents on the mainland for a few days. I'll be in contact but please try your best to just leave me be. Get clean, for good, and I'll let you know when I'm back and we can figure everything out. Okay?"
He shakes his head. You can see that he's angry and confused, your heart just aches. "The mainland? What- why? Just stay here, I don't understand-"
"Please, Rafe. This is what we have to do okay?"
He took a few deep breaths and ran his hands through his hair. "Okay... okay. When you get back, I'll have made it up to you. Just promise me we aren't over."
You could see the tears that formed in his eyes and had to fight back your own. "We aren't over just yet." You gave him a kiss on the cheek before leaving his room and heading home.
⭑*•̩̩͙⊱✩•̩̩͙⊰•*⭑
You were finally off the ferry and on the mainland to stay with your parents. You really wanted to talk to your best friend to get advice so you asked her to pick you up. By the time you reached your house, she was all caught up. Your parents weren't home so you both went straight up to your childhood bedroom.
"Damn... I didn't think he got down like that." Niki looked at you slightly surprised. "Honestly though, it sounds like does care about you, even if he did fuck up."
"Yeah, I know he cares I just... I don't wanna have to worry about shit like this. Whenever he's all coked up he makes irrational and bad decisions. I'm just worried he'll do something and end up in jail or worse."
"You just have to let him know that. Make sure he knows your anger comes from a place of care. If he feels like you're just judging him, it'll probably piss him off."
You sigh and groan into your pillow. "You're right, thanks Niki."
"Don't mention it. Now, let me catch you up on the mainland gossip!" she squealed.
⭑*•̩̩͙⊱✩•̩̩͙⊰•*⭑
Niki had gone home and you were getting into bed, ready to sleep after what felt like an exceptionally long day, when your phone chimed. You looked and saw you had a text from Rafe.
Rafe: hey I just wanted to make sure you made it to the mainland safely.
You: yes I did, i'm at my parent's house, thanks for asking.
Rafe: of course, goodnight
You: goodnight
Placing your phone on the dresser, you're thankful he doesn't push the conversation further. You decide you'll only stay here for three days before going back to the island to figure things out with Rafe. You just hope he can work on staying clean and that you can go back to being together like normal.
As you closed your eyes, ready for sleep, you heard another chime from your phone. You groaned before picking it up to check.
Topper: hey we need to talk, it's about Rafe.

drug dealer! soft! rafe being a love sick puppy
Tumblr media
🎀 author's note: buzzcut rafe is my favorite rafe omg 😫 yk that one song "i'm a gangster's wife to an anybody killer" i had that lyrics on my head all day and it got me inspired lol and as much as i love dark/horror themes i love soooo much soft and sweet! rafe. yeah a canon of him being a drug dealer but he still is my little princess
(not mine gif)
also besties send me requests! i'm in the mood to write today
warnings: fluff, sexual mentions in the end but no actual smut
drug dealer! rafe instantly became infatued with you, the second he first saw you. he just knew he had to have you (please i can't help but imagine him staring like that one crazy stare he does in s2 when he's with barry and hears kiara in the drain lol)
drug dealer! rafe absolutely fucking worships you. like i MEAN it. he's selling his thing and worried about his busy and can't stop thinking about you, constantly texting you under the table. he has sooooo many pictures of you, not just on his phone but in his wallet as well, it's almost compulsive: he wants needs to stare at it all the time, and everyone always mocks him for this. he doesn't care about how crazy or corny they think he is or shit, thats his girl, the love of his life, his future wife and mother of his children. he would go to hell for you.
drug dealer! rafe who spoils the shit out you, if you said you wanted a big house like this or that, in color x or y, he would buy it entirely for you, the exact way you wanted. needless to say, he would buy anything you saw in a store that had your eyes shining, no matter what it is, if it would make you happy he wouldn't think twice. also, he is obsessed with the cute things you like 🥺 like imagine him buying a sylvanian family for you, or those sanrio plushies.
drug dealer! rafe who has you on his lap at any single party him and barry goes to, he doesn't let go of you for nothing. one say overprotective other say clingy, whatever it is, he always wants you on his arms. need to go to bathroom? he is waiting on the door. need a drink? he tells barry to got get it for you both (LMAO). you're tired or sleepy? he carries you around like a bride.
drug! dealer rafe taking you home and can't stop smiling staring at you sleeping, admiring your beauty and feeling his heart race from how much he loves you, how happy it feels to have you. he puts a song you like on the radio even tho it wasn't his taste or you weren't awake to hear it. you'd wake up and he'd be caressing your hair, the minute he he saw your eyes opening he said "shh, go back to sleep princess, it's late" and you were too sleepy to answer anything. he caressed your forehead, cheeks, nose, ears. he loved to put his fingers on your dots too, you had some small ones you didn't even noticed you have, but he did.
drug dealer! rafe already has a ring on his pocket just waiting for the perfect moment to ask you to marry him. you're the only person who ever gets to see this side of him, so he would probably get emotional while doing it.
drug dealer! rafe who have a MASSIVE breeding kink, but mostly because he really dreamed of having a family with you. not just because it felt good to cum inside you and it was hot, but because he really felt something he couldn't describe at the thought of you also wanting him to be the dad of your children, to have a family with him. it made his heart euphoric, it got him acting dumb. it meant you also wanted to spend your life with him, that was his biggest turned on.

Can u write about smut w rafe/drew where reader is jealous of him spending too much time w a different girl/boy ?
RAFE CAMERON - EROTIC MOUTH
Short summary; You go to Barry’s house since Rafe hasn’t talked to you for days.
Trigger warnings: Throat fucking, face fucking, DUB-CON, degrading words, Barry watches, DARK! RAFE CAMERON.
Tumblr media
A couple days has passed since you had last seen Rafe, you knew he was spending a lot of time at his dealers house. You didn’t know why though, which raised suspicions that he could be cheating on you.
Rafe usually spent his days with you, at least one hour a day. A couple days without Rafe felt strange and lonely, like a weight you needed was lifted off your shoulders.
You decided you would show up at Barry’s house without a warning, hoping to catch him in the act, but at the same time hoping to catch nothing at all.
You got onto your bike and started peddling to Barry’s house, you knew where it was cause Rafe brought you there once. Just to show you off to Barry.
Rafe’s truck was parked on Barry’s driveway. You peddled through the grass of Barry’s front lawn, a couple of chairs on the lawn. The grass was overall, you hoped off of the bike. Letting it fall to the ground as you creepily walked onto the porch of the house, tiptoeing your way to the front door.
You stood in front of the door, grabbing onto the doorknob, not prepared to see anything.
You took a deep breath before swinging the door open and stepping in the house, you saw Rafe sitting on the couch smoking. Barry was sat on his recliner.
“The fuck are you doing here?” Rafe immediately stood up, approaching you and grabbing your wrist to look you in the eyes. “You think you can just barge into my friends house?” Rafe asked angrily.
Your eyes watered, “Rafe I wanted to see you.” You admitted, pulling your wrist away from Rafe’s deadly grip.
Rafe rolled his eyes, “You could have called or texted, not just walk into this fucking house. You’re lucky Barry didn’t shoot your ass. Apologize.” Rafe demanded aggressively, clearly he was mad at you for this.
You look at Barry, “I’m sorry for walking into your house without knocking or announcing.” You spoke softly, keeping your cool.
Barry chuckled, his gold tooth shining into your eyes. “It’s alright princess.” Barry smiled, picking up his beer and taking a sip of it. The nickname he called you made Rafe’s blood boil.
Rafe towered over you, his eyes piercing through your body. “You know-“ Rafe hummed for a moment. “I think you should get on your knees.” Rafe offered with a smirk, not caring that Barry was right there.
You glance at Barry then back at Rafe, “Right now? Here?” You stumbled on your words, you didn’t want to give Rafe a blowjob in front of Barry.
Rafe nodded his head, leaning closer down to your ear. “Get on your fucking knees.” Rafe whispered in your ear, his voice husky and deep.
You obliged, dropping down into your knees. Rafe pushed some of your hair out of your face, your hands unbuttoned his shorts, pulling them down to his ankles.
Barry’s eyebrows raised, he wasn’t expecting Rafe to do this in front of him. But he didn’t mind. Barry leaned back in his chair, watching as you pulled Rafe’s underwear down to Rafe’s mid thigh.
Rafe’s left hand bundled all of your hair into a fist of his. You slowly put Rafe’s tip into your mouth, sucking on the tip, swiping your tongue over his slit. A low groan coming out of Rafe’s mouth.
Your hands stroked Rafe’s shaft, you thought you were going at a good pace until Rafe’s grip on your hair pulled you away from him.
“Sit still, alright?” Rafe requested, knowing it wasn’t a request and more of a demand you stayed still on your knees.
Rafe slaps his cock onto your cheek, Barry chuckles a bit as Rafe does this. You felt slightly humiliated, being used in front of an almost stranger.
Rafe rubbed his tip onto your lips, “Open.” Rafe commanded, his hand gently cupping your jaw, your mouth was now fully open. Rafe slid his cock into your wet mouth.
Rafe’s hips started bucking into your mouth, his hands started to grip onto the back of your head, he was fucking your face roughly.
Your hands grabbed onto his thighs, trying to push him away from you so you could at least get some air. Rafe’s hands pushed your head even further into his pelvis, your nose against his happy trail.
You breathed rapidly through your nose but it felt impossible when Rafe’s stomach was against it. You started to gag a bit on Rafe, it made him moan. Feeling the vibration of your throat onto his dick.
“You’re such a slut on letting me fuck your face in front of Barry.” Rafe grumbled, his hips bucking into your face at an even faster pace.
Barry licked his lips, enjoying the view of tears running down your face as you choked on Rafe’s dick. Barry’s hand went down to his clothed cock, his hand rubbing it for some friction to get rid of his boner.
You felt your throat burning as Rafe’s cock slammed into it, hot tears pouring down your face as gag and gasps for air escaped your mouth.
Your fingernails started to dig into the flesh of Rafe’s thighs, Rafe continued to do this, enjoying the view of you on your knees. Rafe hoped this would prove you were his little bitch to Barry.
Finally Rafe’s hips stopped bucking into your throat, his cock resting in your mouth as he came into your mouth.
You felt his cock twitch inside of your mouth then squirt of liquid hit the back of your throat, after a few moments of Rafe grunting, he pulled his cock out of your mouth, a string of salvia leaving your mouth.
“Swallow it.” Rafe grunted, watching as your swallowed all of Rafe’s cum. “Good girl.”
You panted heavily, Rafe’s hands went under your arm pit and picked you up. “Let’s go home, yeah?” Rafe asked with a smirk.
Your legs wrapped around his waist, wrapping your arms over his shoulders as he wiped away your tears.
“Bye, Barry.” Rafe said smugly, walking out of Barry’s house with the slam of the door.

hi! can you do dealer! rafe x reader (lowk inspo from that tiktok lipstick trend)
rafe and reader aren’t official yet and are keeping what’s going on between them private but rafe gets an important call and has to rush to go sort something out, when he arrives barry points out all the lipstick kiss marks on his neck and face
THIS
Tumblr media
╰┈➤ stolen kisses
warnings: mostly fluff.
summary: rafe’s little secret almost gets outed. (maybank!reader x rafe, not connected to my other jj’s sister fic.)
rafe groaned in between kisses as his phone buzzed on her nightstand. the room was hot and stuffy, perspiration appearing on their faces as they held eachother close.
rafe’s hands lingered on her waist as her lips trailed along his neck, sucking and nipping at his skin. their heavy breaths drowned out the incessant notifications of rafe’s phone.
they’d spent the day like this, making out in bed, occasionally taking breaks to continue the film they’d planned to watch, but y/n couldn’t keep her hands off him, ever.
especially when it was the first time in a while they had a chance to show affection for one another. hiding their relationship from their siblings was a struggle, but they managed.
they simply weren’t ready to deal with the uproar it would cause, more so from y/n’s brother. he was a prominent rafe cameron hater, and y/n feared there was nothing she could do to change his mind.
so when jj and the pogues had gone chasing leads for whatever treasure this time, y/n and rafe took advantage of her empty house.
before her lips could trail any further, his phone buzzed once again, causing rafe to pause their session, determined to satisfy whoever needed to speak to him so badly.
his eyes rolled as barry’s name popped up on the screen. sliding his thumb across the glass, he held the phone up to his ear while y/n stared impatiently.
unfortunately for her, the volume on rafe’s phone wasn’t loud enough for her to eavesdrop, instead attempting to decipher barry’s mumbles.
rafe’s annoyed expression soon fell, a look of anger replacing it. y/n’s brows furrowed at this, watching as he slipped out from under the covers, hastily throwing his clothes back on.
“where are you going?” she pouted, red lipstick now smeared across her chin.
“i’m sorry angel, i’ve gotta go help barry with something..” he sighed, pressing a soft kiss to her cheek apologetically.
“but i thought we were going to spend the day together?” guilt washed over him as her voice quivered. “i’ll make it up to you, okay princess? i’ll pick you up afterwards..”
sighing in defeat, she nodded reluctantly, fidgeting with the rings on her dainty fingers. not even having the chance to give him a proper goodbye, he rushed out of her house, anger radiating off of him as he slammed the door of his car.
rafe muttered to himself in frustration while he drove through the cut, turning sharp corners on his way to barry’s.
coming to a halt, he jumped out of the car, bursting through the door of barry’s caravan, impatient to get this over with.
“hey country club! sorry to drag you away from-” barry cut himself off as he entered the small kitchen, staring at rafe, bewildered.
“c’mon man, i’ve got shit to do today..” rafe snapped, drumming his fingers in frustration.
“yeah…clearly!” barry smirked, eyebrows raised in amusement. “what?”
“you looked in a mirror today country club?” barry chuckled, gesturing to rafe’s face.
brows furrowed, he stomped through the bathroom, coming to a stop in front of the mirror.
“fuck..” he muttered under his breath, attempting to rub at the deep red marks littering his skin.
“new flavour of the month huh?” barry teased, leaning against the doorway, watching rafe’s failed attempts to remove the lipstick stains.
“nah man, it’s not like that this time..”

Rafe with autistic reader
Warnings: Suggestive content, innocent reader
Tropes: kookxpogue, sunshinexgrumpy
Summary: Reader is autistic.
Bree rants: Hi! So, I am only mildly autistic, so if I get any of this wrong I am deeply sorry. ALSO, if you're reading this, please help me work tumblr, I don't know how to make a taglist or boarders. Thank you- Also my askbox is always opened, so ask me random questions, I am always bored. Before I forget, I AM ADDING THIS TO ALL POSTS, AND IF I FORGET IT @brokenwingsgalore WILL PUT IT IN THE COMMENTS. IF YOU DONT LIKE IT, DONT READ IT!!! AND, if you want this to be a full oneshot, please tell me in the comments. I love you and enjoy reading!
(HOW DO I MAKE BOARDERS.)
Rafe! Who found you at his house in his party crying because everything was too loud.
Rafe! Who was about to yell at you but once he looked down, he felt soft and mushy.
Rafe! Who would continue to stare at you while you cry, not knowing what to do.
Rafe! Who finally speaks up and asks you if you need something. You shake your head no and he does not take that lightly. Instead grabbing you some water and sitting beside you.
Rafe! Who eventually finds out its because of how loud everything was and takes you up to his room. Topper whistles thinking Rafes getting lucky. Rafe tells him to shut up and you sit on his bed.
Rafe! Who would calm you down by dimming the lights and covering your ears. He thought this was childish but you seemed to have been calming down.
Rafe! Who would let go of your ears and ask you if you're okay.
Rafe! Who slowly finds out you suffer autism and your friend had brought you here to, "let loose." He would fight the urge to punch whoever that friend was.
Rafe! Who would yell at anybody who even talked near his room so you wouldn't have to panic anymore.
Rafe! Who would spend all night with you, letting you rant about your current hyperfixation just so you didn't have to pay attention to the loud party beneath you two.
Rafe! Who smiles at your little giggles and hand gestures. He hated when people would talk to him, but with you, everything you said sounded so luring. Even though you were talking about sharks.
Rafe! Who would drive you home and get your number.
Rafe! Who becomes obsessed with you after a week of getting to know you. Doing research on autism just so he could help you out like you helped him that night you met, he would've been fucking some girl he didn't like or smoke weed all night. Instead he found you.
Rafe! Who would ask you to be his girlfriend after two weeks.
Rafe! Who buys you anything you hyperfixate on. Legos? He's buying every set and listening you talk about the lego sets. Sharks? He'd buy you a mountain of plushies. Anything your autism liked for a few months or weeks, he would buy.
Rafe! Who never forced you to come to crowded places with. And if you do, he brings noise cancelling headphones or something for you to fidget with.
Rafe! Who practically almost murders anybody who says your too weird or something about your mental health.
Rafe! Who makes sure you eat all your meals, even if its krafts mac and cheese for the 5th time today.
Rafe! Who lets you sleep with him but gets annoyed when you have to put one of your shark plushies between you two. Though he would never tell you he was annoyed.
Rafe! Who ends up telling Barry random facts about the new movie you're obsessed with because that's all you talk about.
Rafe! Who loves you to death despite everything. He loves you and your hyperfixations. (maybe not the shark plushies though)

You had no idea how you ended up in this mess with Rafe. It started off with a smoke with his friends at the beach and now, it's escalated to Rafe and you arguing in his room.
You were usually the responsible one, always making sure everything is in order and everyone's fine, so how did you end up in this mess? John B was going to kill you when he finds out.
"Rafe, it was nothing, seriously!" You were angry at that point, the entire drive to his house had been him just screaming at you incoherently about cheating?
Rafe was shaking at that point, his eyes were red and you could tell he wasn't sober. That's something you will never learn to love about Rafe; his awful addiction to anything and everything unhealthy.
"I-I saw you Y/N!" He trembled angrily as he pointed an accusatory finger in your face. "With Barry's tall friend, I saw you! You and him obviously knew each oth-"
"From Chemistry, Rafe! We had Honors Chemistry sophomore year, I told you!" You explained but Rafe was just shaking his head.
"I thought you loved me."
You shook your head as you walked towards him, tears brimming in your eyes. "I do."
"Then why did you cheat?" His voice broke. That's when you realized that Rafe wasn't acting; he truly felt like you had cheated.
"I didn't Rafe, you did too many lines and now you're acting all crazy." You tried to explain and Rafe had turned almost immediately when he heard you say the word "crazy."
"Oh, I'm crazy?! Really?" He screamed. You jumped at the sudden yelling and you sat back in the chair as tears started falling from your eyes. He walked away towards the door.
"I'm not letting you out until you apologize." He walked out and closed the door, locking it. You thought he was joking until you had gotten up and tried to open the door.
"Rafe!" You screamed. "Let me out, Rafe! Seriously, this isn't funny! Come on, Rafe!"
After about 10 minutes of being in that room, you were tired. You didn't know how this would end. No one was home; not even Wheezie, she was at a sleepover so you were stuck until Rafe's manic had calmed down. You wanted to call someone but you left your purse in Rafe's car.
You thought you were done for until you heard a van pull up. You looked outside to see the Twinkie and you let out a breath of relief - John B was going to help you get out. Until you realized that Rafe was still home and John B was most likely very angry.
"Shit," you mumbled to yourself.
You saw JJ and John B exit the car and you didn't know how to prevent all of them from getting hurt; you would usually just make sure that all of them weren't near each other or draw the other one away, but how could you do that if you were locked in a room.
You then heard some banging at the door. You prayed to every higher power you knew to make sure all three of them don't get too seriously hurt. You didn't want to spend the rest of this godforsaken night in the ER.
You couldn't really make out anything they were saying downstairs but they were shouting. Then you heard one loud crash and some running upstairs.
You heard the door unlock and your heart jumped. The door revealed JJ and a very angry John B.
"What the hell, Y/N!" John B shouted as he sighed disappointedly. "Stay away from Rafe, I said. He's crazy, I said. He's an actual psychopath who will hurt you, I said. And what did you do-"
Before he could continue, you went up to John B and embraced him tightly. You were crying into his shirt; the fact that you weren't completely sober didn't help either. John B was shocked. He'd never seen you cry so hard in your life. You were usually the one to be the rock.
He held you tightly, putting his head on top of yours as JJ watched sympathetically.
"I love him, John B." You managed to choke out. "I swear, it's just when he's high."
JJ shook his head. "Y/N, he's just not a good guy."
You pulled away from John B, wiping your tears. "What'd you guys do?"
"Just gave him a good punch. He's passed out." JJ responded as Joh B nodded. "Let's get out of here before the beast awakens."
John B hit his arm as warning before getting a small, "Too soon, sorry."
John B put his arm around your shoulders comfortingly as you guys walked to the Twinkie. The drive home was pretty quiet but you got some answers.
John B was calling you and you hadn't answered but that wasn't like you at all and he knew something was wrong. He called it 'brother intuition.'
You didn't care what it was, you were just grateful they came and helped you. You were grateful to have such good friends.

Family Dinner
for @themarginalthinker who wanted Max introducing Lucy to his Boys. Some David/Michael and vague David/Michael/Star because I am weak, lol.
When Max told him of his plans to turn some woman he met and her two kids, David got it. He was lonely once too. Before his boys came along, it had been just the two of them for a good thirty years.  And Max was many things, but entertaining company? Definitely not one of them. It was like living with an undead accountant. By that point David had seriously begun to wonder if it was possible for an immortal to die of sheer boredom.
In his own way, Max had understood this. Though he got annoyed with him whenever David had been too messy or too obvious with his kills, in the very next moment he would dismiss it as ‘the impetuousness of youth’. And when David had come back to their lair one night unable to stop gushing about this guy he’d met down by the docks and how fun it had been to watch this scrappy kid defend himself with a crowbar against five guys and win, Max had studied him curiously and asked, “Would you like a brother, David?”
The rest was history. Max had given him Marko, then later Dwayne, then Paul, and boredom and loneliness had become a thing of the past. So yeah, he could understand Max wanting to have someone on his own wavelength for company through eternity. That didn’t mean Max’s whole ‘let’s play happy families’ shtick wasn’t ridiculous though. He didn’t need mothering. That ship had long set sail.
Still, Max was pretty insistent on them coming along tonight. “I’ve already told her about you,” he said, in response to the Boys’ complaints about wasting a perfectly good Friday sitting around a table and playing house when they could be off doing things that were actually fun. “Lucy said she would like to meet you all properly. And I wouldn’t want to disappoint her by turning up without you.” Despite their maker’s mild words and genial tone, the look in his eye made it very clear that their presence at this family dinner was not a request.
"Besides,” Max continued. “Her boys will be there. This will be the perfect opportunity for you to get to know each other better.”
The four younger vampires had all exchanged smirks, since they felt that they were already getting to know Michael pretty well on their own. But David wasn’t about to pass up an opportunity to spend more time with him. There was a wildness hiding behind that Joe-normal façade. A darkness. David wanted to crack Michael open and taste it.
Michael, he had decided, was even worth sacrificing a Friday night for. When he had shared this opinion with the boys, they had all teased him something rotten.
Assholes, he thought affectionately as he glanced across at Marko and Dwayne who were crammed in the back seat with him. Paul had called dibs on shotgun to have control over the radio; Max insisted they were all going in his car instead of taking their bikes, but that didn’t mean they had to be subjected to Barry Manilow the entire way. Paul was currently slapping his thigh and singing along to Poison’s ‘Talk to Dirty to Me’. In the interest of keeping the peace, Max endured this in a long-suffering way, other than to keep turning the volume down. Whenever his attention was on the road, Paul would surreptitiously turn it back up again.
Max drove along a rutted track until they came to a lodge-style farmhouse, the yard decorated with lots of wooden carvings. The boys had been here before of course, when they had dropped Michael home after their fun proved a little too much for his fledgling self to handle. They unfolded themselves from Max’s car, while their maker fussed around straightening out the wrapping on the bouquet he’d brought with him and adjusting his tie.
The boys were dressed in their preferred style, though Max had demanded Dwayne put a shirt on for the occasion, something that Dwayne had complied with in malicious silence. The black t-shirt was Paul’s, meaning it was a size or two too tight, hugging Dwayne’s pecs. Across the front in white letters were emblazoned the words: ‘GUITARISTS FINGER BETTER.’ Max appeared not to have noticed.
“Now boys, I’m sure I don’t have to remind you to be on your best behavior,” Max warned as he led them to the front door. The thoughts that streamed into David’s head were a reminder of what awaited them should they fail to do so: a few weeks spent clawing at the lining of a coffin buried in a shallow grave, with wild roses laid on the lid to stop them breaking out. Max had a very literal interpretation of ‘grounding’.
One day old man. One day, David vowed, careful to keep the thought to himself.
Just as Max raised his fist to knock on the door, who should open it but Michael?
The half-vampire looked astonished to see them. “David?” he blurted out, ignoring Max’s attempt to greet him as if he wasn’t even there. “Guys? What are...wait.” He flicked his eyes between the four motorcycle-riding punks and the unassuming and badly dressed man in a suit and did the necessary math. “...this guy’s your dad?” In the bond blooming between their minds, David could hear Michael’s confusion over the fact that the gang had apparently been serious when they called each other brothers. ‘They don’t look anything alike...’
“We’re all adopted,” Marko put in helpfully, answering the unspoken question.
Max cleared his throat. He was smiling, but if you knew him you could see there was definitely an edge to it. “That’s correct. Hi, you must be Michael.” He extended a hand in greeting.
Michael didn’t take it, instead looking Max coolly up and down. “And you must be Max,” he said, sneering faintly.
Max was spared from further awkwardness by the sound of heels tapping rhythmically on the carpet and the appearance of a smiling woman with short red hair. “Michael? Is there someone at—Oh, hi!” she said, hurrying over. Lucy smiled at him, before turning her attention to the four (seemingly) young men standing on the doorstep. For a moment her smile faltered slightly and as he met her eyes David could hear her thoughts loud and clear. ‘These are the boys who were in the video store a few nights ago...why would Max kick them out if they’re his sons?’
This lady’s smart. Guess it skipped a generation, David thought to himself. But Michael was pretty enough that it didn’t matter, he supposed.
He gave her his most winning smile.  “Hi. You must be Lucy, we’ve heard so much about you. I’m David.” He clasped one of her hands like she was one of the debutantes he had never been allowed anywhere near as a human, and brushed his lips across the back of her knuckles. A quick glance at Michael told him that the other boy looked like he was either going to have an aneurism or punch him in the face again - it was fantastic.
Lucy laughed, delighted. “My goodness, what a charmer! Max, you’re raising a heartbreaker,” she teased, still chuckling.
“I try,” David said, smiling impishly. “This is Dwayne, Paul and Marko.” He nodded to each and the boys greeted her in turn, Dwayne with a nod and one of his bedazzling smiles, Marko with a grin and a little wave, and Paul with a brief hug and a kiss to each cheek, continental style.
“I’m so sorry, where are my manners?” Lucy exclaimed, stepping back from the doorway so that they could file past her. “Please come inside, all of you. Michael honey, are you going out or coming in?” she added.
Michael blinked; he had been staring at David so intently that when he tore his gaze away there was almost an audible rupture. “Hm? Oh right. Yeah, I was just leaving."
Michael’s thoughts were full of Star, and it made David grit his teeth. He was not jealous; that was ridiculous. They were both his, and he didn’t mind Michael fucking her. But they could’ve at least had the courtesy to invite him to join them.
(Okay, so maybe he was slightly miffed that Star had gotten a taste of Michael before him. Just a little.)
“Aw, you’re not going are you Michael?” Marko asked as he stepped past Michael into the house.
“Yeah, come on you gotta stay man.” Paul gave Michael a friendly shove, and then was quickly distracted by the novelty of his reflection in the hallway mirror. He drifted over to it.
“You could give us a tour,” Dwayne suggested, poking at a taxidermied beaver smoking a cuban cigar.
“That’s a good idea,” Lucy agreed, eager to have Michael stay for dinner with them all. And pleased that they already appeared to know one another and to get along so well. Max presented her with the flowers and she led him off into the dining room to go and put them into some water.
Michael appeared torn. He wanted to see Star, yes, but the thoughts continuously leaking across into David’s mind revealed that what he actually wanted more than anything else was answers. Star hadn’t actually told him anything, and had in fact protested tearfully that she couldn’t, and that she didn’t know how to help him. But David had done this to him, hadn’t he...so maybe he could help put it right again.
David looped his arm around Michael’s shoulders and gave him a friendly squeeze. “Come on, Michael. Stay. I’m sure we’ll have lots to talk about,” he said, eyeing Michael meaningfully. His lips curled into a grin.
After a moment, Michael nodded and stepped into the house, closing the door behind him.
((The Boys 5 minutes later: *all jockeying for position at the mirror and standing there pulling funny faces and cracking up at the novelty. The line about Max's interpretation of 'grounding' was inspired by @marypsue's brilliant fic 'look for something left in this world'.))

@taznovembercelebration
Day 15: vampire au/last
Kravitz is moving for possibly the last time in his very, very long life, and he ruminates a little on what got him to this point.
Read it on AO3
Barry drops another cardboard box into the growing sea of stuff in the garage. “One thing I wish I'd considered before becoming immortal was all the moving.”
“Tell me about it,” Taako says, writing his name on a piece of painter's tape and slapping it on a garbage bag of clothes. “One second I'm joining my hot ancient vampire boyfriend in his immortal curse, and next thing I know, I've moved fifteen times in the last hundred years.”
“We haven't moved fifteen times,” Kravitz skirts around him with another box. “This is only number ten.”
“That's still too many.”
He drops the box on top of Barry's. “It wasn't nearly this much work when it was just me in apartments and such. But four times the people, four times the stuff.”
Taako points at him, “this is the last time. New vamps, new start, new system. Taako can't be doing all this physical labour every couple of years for eternity.”
Barry leans against a stack of boxes. “Maybe this is why you deemed immortality a curse. You've been spending your eternal life doing one of the worst chores an adult can do.” Kravitz just shrugs. Barry says, “this'll be good. The land's nice and far from any prying eyes, and the house Magnus and Julia designed is beautiful.”
“No! More! Moves!” Taako chants.
“Okay,” Lup comes into the garage, “Magnus is on his way with the truck and reinforcements, so he'll start taking loads of stuff to the new house. Stager comes tomorrow, carpets get cleaned Wednesday, pictures Thursday, and we're in business by the weekend.”
“Let's sell this bitch,” Taako says.
A few months later, the old house has sold, and they're settling into their new, custom-built home. Kravitz is sitting out back, watching Lup and Taako argue about toppings by the pizza oven. His heart swells.
He'd been alone for so long. As far as he knew, he was the only vampire left. His life became an exhausting, monotonous dance of isolation. Running from place to place the moment he felt any whiff of suspicion in his direction. But then he met Taako. Handsome, wondrous, stubborn Taako.
Kravitz had wanted to run the moment he realised Taako had taken an interest. But when he started packing his things and looking for a new place, for the first time in centuries, he hesitated. Taako was the first interesting thing to happen to him in ages. Maybe he deserved to have a little fun.
“A little fun” quickly turned into deep, unavoidable love. So Kravitz tried to blow it up. He told Taako they couldn't be together, he walked away and blocked his number and ran. But Taako isn't so easily swayed. Through avenues that Kravitz is still in the dark about, he tracked him down and banged on his door until he was granted entry and an explanation. So Kravitz told him what he was. He told him they couldn't be together because Taako would age and Kravitz wouldn't and after a few decades he would be alone again. He didn't want to know a life of companionship if he was going to lose it in the blink of an eye.
And Taako laughed. He laughed until he had tears trickling down his face. He said, “you thought I didn't know? Babe, the moment you brought me home I knew. I don't give a fuck, all my friends are freaks.”
Kravitz met Taako's friends, and they all seemed normal to him. “Magnus?”
“Werewolf. And Julia.”
“Davenport?”
“Shapeshifter.”
“Merle?”
“Fae.”
“Lucretia?”
“Merfolk.”
Kravitz hesitates, because there's no way he's anything but human, but he has to ask, “Barry?”
“I'll give you three guesses.”
“...no.” Taako smirked. Kravitz stared at him wide-eyed. “There's absolutely no way.”
“Full blooded vampire.”
“Full blooded?!”
“The man has never had a drop of human blood in his veins.”
Kravitz pushed his hands into his hair. “I thought I was the only one left.”
Taako patted his back, “you just didn't know where to look.”
He looked at Taako. “Are you…?”
“I'm the only full human in the group.”
“What about Lup?”
“We still don't really know what she did, but she kind of Danny Phantom-ed herself and has been able to willingly shift to a phantasmal form for a few years now, so,” he shrugs, “she's human, but also maybe half dead? I try not to think about it too much.”
That conversation, as… mind blowing as it was, was the start of the rest of Kravitz's life. Taako made some very compelling arguments and convinced him to come back and try again. It was just under a year after that when he turned Taako. He was hesitant to do it, but was convinced when Taako reminded him that all his friends were immortal, and if he wasn't going to do it, he'd go to Barry, “and I'm not into him like that, so I'd rather not.”
On the back porch, watching the twins, Kravitz finally understands the concept of a forever home. Why spend eternity running when you could travel and have fun and do much more pleasant things than packing? And why not give yourself a soft place to land when you need to rest?
Barry comes outside and sits next to him, holding out a drink. “They're still at it?”
Kravitz takes it. “Yeah. Though they've moved from olives to anchovies.”
Barry chuckles and shakes his head. “I think they'll still be arguing about it when the next ice age comes around.”
Kravitz laughs, and they sit in a comfortable silence for a while. “Hey Barry. You've been around a while.”
“Sure have.”
“So you've been navigating life as an immortal for a long time. Like, almost as long as I have.”
“You've got maybe two hundred years on me, but yeah.”
“Then why the fuck did you let me move the four of us through ten houses in the last hundred years?!”
Barry laughs long and loud. He sighs. “Oh, my god,” he wipes a stray tear away, “I was wondering if you'd put that together.”
“Well?!”
“Oh, man,” he clears his throat. “You'd been on your own for so long, and set in your ways, and so afraid of being discovered, we thought it'd be best to do things your way for a while. To let you get used to us and the group and what have you.”
Kravitz narrows his eyes. Barry bites his lip like he's trying not to laugh again. “There's more. Spill it, Bluejeans.”
“Lup and I made a bet on how many moves Taako could go through before it got to him.” He takes a sip of his drink. “I won, for once.”
Kravitz considers this. “What'd you win?”
He smirks. “You don't want to know.”
“Ugh!” Kravitz stands. “Gross, I don't want to know about your sex bets.”
“I didn't say anything about sex!”
“A non answer is still an answer,” he turns to go back inside, “next time just lie and say money!”
Barry shouts after him, “this is your life forever now!”

Donut Hole - Chapter 16
Mountain Sound
Hold your horses now (We sleep until the sun goes down) Through the woods, we ran (Deep into the mountain sound) Hold your horses now (We sleep until the sun goes down) Through the woods, we ran
[THINGS ARE GETTING CRAZY FOLKS] [also shoutout to me rereading my old chapters and going 'oh Barry literally doesnt know Iscan's name'.] [Also I wanted to keep this chapter short and…that didn't happen. ENJOY THE 5k WORDS OF CHAOS!] [And a big thanks to my anonymous bestie and my friend Plant for Beta Reading!]
[ao3 Link]
Adaman didn’t return to his home in the Mirelands immediately. No, he went a bit further to the Coastlands to try and clear his head. Interacting with Irida for an extended period of time was bad for his health, he just knew it.
He stood on the sandy shores, the surf mere inches away from touching his shoes. Adaman took a moment to ground himself, breathing in the salty air. Time was precious, and spending time to reorient himself especially so.
“Lord Adaman!” down the stretch of beach, Iscan waved as he approached. “It’s always a pleasure to see you. What brings you here?”
“Had to clear my head. Irida just-” he gestured wildly with his hands with no clear meaning. “She just gets under my skin. You know how the Pearl Clan acts; they think they’re constantly right all the time?”
Iscan frowned. “I-I don’t know if every member of the Pearl Clan is like that…have you m-met them all?”
Adaman raised an eyebrow. “And you have?”
“Well…no.”
The Diamond Clan leader scoffed a bit at that, but Iscan seemed unconvinced. “W-What was Lady Irida talking about, anyhow?”
“You know that boy who robbed you, then broke your house?”
“How could I forget? What about him?”
Adaman fought not to roll his eyes. “Irida has convinced herself that he is connected to Dawn, of the Galaxy team.”
Iscan blinked at him, seemingly sharing Adaman’s skepticism. “And how did she come to that conclusion?”
“Half-baked coincidences and wishful thinking, I’d imagine. The two are children roughly the same age, both powerful trainers, both…weird-”
“Two of those things describe Warden Ingo? No offense to him of course-”
Adaman snickered at that, “That’s what I was thinking too. It’s all just coincidences. And my thought process is that sure, the boy may superficially resemble Dawn’s friend-”
“What?”
The clan leader took a breath. “I should’ve started at the beginning. Irida and I came to Jubilife to discuss that boy running about. But we were stopped by Dawn, who wanted to show us a pokemon she had caught, who she named after her best friend, Barry. Then she starts to cry and say how much she loved this friend, and how they used to train and battle and eat pecha berries-"
He paused, glancing over at Iscan, noticing how pale the other man was suddenly. "Did…did I say something?"
Iscan started to say something, stopped, thought for a moment. He closed his eyes and held a fist in front of his mouth, trying to recall. "You said the friend's name was Barry?" He finally asked.
"...yeah…?"
"And y-you said. You said they would eat pecha berries?"
Adaman felt a flicker of irritation. "Oh come now, Iscan, surely you don't-"
"Did Dawn describe the friend at all?"
"This is such a waste of time- yes. Yes she did, after Irida practically forced her to. A boy her age, taller, spikey blonde hair and a green scarf-"
Iscan spoke slowly, knowing that what he was about to say would not fly over well. "Sir. My Lord. With all due respect. I-I think Irida may be…c-correct.
That went just as well as Iscan thought it would. “You’re siding with her?! Might I remind you of what clan you’re part of?!”
“Adaman.” Iscan said firmly. “I am asking you to listen to me, instead of assuming the worst.”
This seemed to pacify Adaman, at least a little bit. Enough for Iscan to continue. “The boy in question came into my home, if you’ll recall. Stole some things, broke my walls. But before he did, he…spoke. I…I didn’t speak to him directly. Palina did, and she relayed everything the boy had said.”
Curiosity began overtaking Adaman’s anger. “...what did he say?”
“A-At first, we thought he was spouting madness. Asking for items we’ve never heard of, refusing to say where he had come from, and thought Palina was his mother. But…there was something else. He’s looking for someone.”
“That’s ominous. And vague. And unhelpful.”
“He’s looking for a girl. But he can’t remember the finer details. I think something’s scrambled his memory really bad. But there were two things he remembered; the girl was the best pokemon trainer he’s ever seen…and they used to share pecha berries.”
Adaman didn’t say a word. He slowly turned back to stare into the horizon, his mouth fixed into a thin line.
Iscan honestly thought he had broke him. “...L-Lord Adaman?”
Lord Adaman closed his eyes, inhaled through his nose, then exhaled. “...Fuck.”
He spun on his heel, gesturing in the air with his pointer finger. “Gather up the rest of the Wardens. We need to go catch this kid.”
---
When it was just Barry and his pokemon and the world around him, he could almost pretend he was on another adventure. That he was just exploring around Mount Coronet, looking for new discoveries, a pokemon center just around the corner. Later, when he was tired, he would go home, give his mom a kiss on the cheek, and tuck himself into bed.
It wasn’t true, of course. Not a single bit of it.
This was a different world from his own; Cyrus won, the world is ruined, pokemon centers don’t exist and his mom-
He didn’t want to think about that.
Barry focused on his pokemon. Once he was a safe distance from the weird shirtless man and his daughter(?) he had let his pokemon out of their balls. Fern took the lead, Pest sat on his head, Mystery flew above, Jen walked behind…
And Snacks kept bringing him things.
Snacks would toddle off for a while, returning with a handful of…something. Rocks. Twigs. Berries. He was surprised it stuck around so long. He had told the little guy that it was free to go once they were far enough away from those two nutjobs, but Snacks seemed content to stay.
Barry was…tired. Part of him wanted to find a nice spot to curl up and sleep, but they had already lost so much ground that they needed to make up…
He could feel it in his bones; this mountain had answers. He had to get to the top of this mountain.
Even if it killed him.
Barry tried to stifle a yawn as Fern slowed to check on him. “Atta boy Fern…keeping watch. Those nutjobs aren’t following us, right?”
Fern chirped, trying to gesture for Barry to slow down and sit. Barry barely put up a fight as his pokemon shuffled him onto a rock to rest.
“Mmkay, quick break. Quick break.” he muttered, petting the pokemon closest to him. In this case, Jen. Pest and Mystery preened the boy the best they could, and Snacks continued to pile small objects into Barry’s lap.
Absent-mindedly, he began sorting the items. Berries, twigs, clumps of dirt…and a jet black rock with sharp edges. This item caused him to pause, turning the item over in his hand. He ran his finger along the edge, wincing as he sliced a small cut on his finger tip.
“It’s as dark as…dark can be.” he commented, trying to remember what this stone was. Had he seen it in a shopping magazine? Pamphlet? Flyer? Maybe in one of those trainer guides he’d get monthly in the mail-?
Realization hit him like a bucket of cold water. “M-MYSTERY!” He grabbed the bird, a little roughly, but not without kindness, to show him the stone. “DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS IS?!”
Mystery, understandably surprised and startled, squawked in reply.
“It’s a DUSK STONE! You can evolve with this!”
That got the bird’s attention, and now it too was staring at the stone with fascination.
Barry turned to Snacks. “You are SUCH a good boy!... Girl!... Tree!! You are SUCH a good tree!!”
Barry was perfectly ready to give Mystery the Dusk Stone and begin Mystery’s evolution, but out of the corner of his eye he noticed Fern looking…tense. “...Buddy?”
His team grew quiet. Barry strained to try and hear what they were hearing, trying to listen past the faint whistle of the wind and rustling of leaves…
“...’m not sitting behind you, I have seniority…”
His brain wasn’t firing on all cylinders, but each thought felt like a Pikipek against his skull; were they followed? Where were these people? Did they know where he was? Would they hurt his pokemon? Was Cyrus there?
Quickly, he recalled all his pokemon but Fern, much to Mystery’s irritation. “W-We’ll evolve you later. This is more important. Fern, lead the way.”
The two of them crept closer to the voices, finding themselves peering over the rocky cliffs and into a small canyon.
It was all the commanders from Team Galactic he had met so far, and a few he hadn’t. What was worrying were the pokemon mounts they had - pokemon he had never seen before.
Barry focused on Palina, currently on the back of an enormous dog-pokemon. If he squinted, he’d almost be tempted to say it was a horribly ill arcanine. Of course they were mistreating their pokemon!
“I am not sitting behind you on Lord Arcanine, Palina. I have seniority! I should sit in front!” Gaeric argued. “I am not sitting behind you! That’s embarrassing!”
“Lord Arcanine is my Lord, Gaeric. You should’ve brought your own. Oh. Right. I forgot.”
He could vaguely see Ingo and that weird, stretched out Sneasel walking down a path in the the cliffs to join the small group, flanked by a tall man in blue with long hair who appeared to really not want to be there.
Even at a distance, Barry could sense a weird tension amongst everyone, which he found strange. Weren’t they all part of Team Galactic?
Both Barry and Fern turned to the sound of galloping hooves. Riding in on a large, white deer were two people; a woman in the blue galactic uniform with black hair, and a man in a much more decorative jacket of some kind.
“He must be a leader. Wait. Cyrus is the leader.” Barry muttered. “What’s in between a commander and a leader? General?”
Sure. He’d settle on ‘General’.
The ‘General’ barely had time to hop off the pokemon before another, tall man stormed over. “Adaman, what is the meaning of this?! Working together with them?!” The tall man gestured to the commanders in pink with disgust in his voice.
‘General’ Adaman raised his hands to pacify. “Melli, settle down. We’re here with a shared goal; to find the boy.”
Barry felt his heart skip several beats. “O-Oh my God.”
They were definitely looking for him. But…it appeared they didn’t know where he was yet.
‘General’ Adaman spoke to the group now. “We are still waiting for Warden Calaba and Lady Irida. They will be arriving on Ursaluna.”
“So they’ll be a while.” the girl on the deer added.
“Must we share ride pokemon?” Melli continued to complain.
Ingo spoke now, “It is imperative we find the boy as fast as our routes will allow! As such, riding on the back of Pokemon is a must! But Melli and I know the mountains best, and it would be best for us to traverse on foot!”
Melli huffed at that, “Well that’s not much better.”
Finally, lumbering into the clearing was an enormous bear of some kind; with an older woman in pink and a younger woman with a crown on her head.
“Ah, finally decided to grace our presence, Lady Irida.” said Adaman. “This was your idea, you know.”
General Irida scowled at him as she hopped off the Pokemon’s back. “Lord Ursaluna takes his time, and who am I to tell him otherwise? Great haste makes great waste.”
“True, but a little haste would be appreciated.”
My God. Barry thought to himself. Were these two always like this?
How exhausting.
Finally, the two generals addressed the group together. Adaman spoke first, gesturing with his hands. “You’re all aware why we’re here. We need to finally take care of that child once and for all.”
Barry gulped.
Irida’s body language was much more closed off, but she followed up with, “The child is a danger to himself and others-”
“He set our settlement on FIRE.” Gaeric shouted.
“And he buried OUR SETTLEMENT in a LANDSLIDE!” Melli added.
The generals grimaced at the upset murmurings and general feeling of irritation. Adaman attempted to regain command. “Which is why we’re trying to capture him? He can’t just keep running around like this! Who knows what he’ll do next!”
“We’re in a temporary truce to work together to find him.” Said Irida. “According to Gaeric and Sabi, Berry was last seen heading towards the Highlands-”
Sabi began jumping in place, her giant bird loudly squawking, “And I can sense him still! He’s so close!”
Barry felt a shiver run up his spine at that. There were so many of them…and only one of him. If he wasn’t careful, then he was going to end up in their clutches.
He started slinking back, careful not to make any sudden movements or sound-
From his bag rolled the pokeball containing Mystery, and once the ball hit the floor, the large murkrow burst free with an ear-piercing croak.
As Barry and Fern scrambled to get its pokeball, Mystery was already rummaging in Barry’s bag, knocking items out with a loud clatter.
“MYSTERY- MYSTERY NO-!” came Barry’s terrified hiss. “I SAID WE’D EVOLVE YOU LATER - BAD BIRD! GET BACK IN THE BALL!”
The Galactic Commanders and General had definitely noticed the noise by now, unsure what to make of it.
“That is not a normal call from a Murkrow-” “Should we do something?” “What is it even doing-?”
Finally, Mystery managed to snag the Dusk Stone from Barry’s bag, and began to glow.
“SHIT.”
Mystery as a Murkrow was already an absurdly large specimen. Mystery as a Honchkrow was enormous. As large as Barry stood tall, maybe even larger.
And much to Barry’s horror, Mystery’s new, large size made them a new, very large target.
“Is that him?” “That’s him!”
If looks could kill, the withering glare Barry gave his Honchkrow would’ve made the bird explode into a puff of feathers. “We need to leave. Now!” he said as he scrambled to shove all of the items back into his bag.
There was no way he could outrun them. But he had a bit of a lead. As Barry ran, Fern and Mystery flanked him. "Mystery, if we get out of this alive? I'm turning you into a feather duster!"
In practically no time at all, he could hear the panting and the heavy footfalls of paws hitting the earth from the arcanine behind them. It almost felt like each step caused the mountain to shake.
They had caught up so fast.
“Berry!” Palina pleaded from the back of the arcanine. (Wait did she get his name wrong?) “Berry, please! We only want to help! Stop running!”
“Then stop CHASING ME then!” Barry shot back.
‘Help’. Sure. Like he’d believe that.
“Stop making this so difficult!” Gaeric said from behind her.
He saw a small trail up ahead, snaking through a thin chasm. There was no way the arcanine could follow them down there. And with a quick glance, Barry informed his pokemon of the plan.
As soon as they could, the three of them ducked down the trail. The Arcanine whined and tried to paw at the entrance, testing if it could fit, to no avail. Barry heard shouting, but the adrenaline that was quickly overwhelming his system blurred all noise.
He had to get out of here in one piece.
Barry and his pokemon finally squeezed out of the trail on a different side of the mountain. Everything was starting to blend together now; sound, sights, thoughts. His hands were clammy. His head was starting to spin.
A wave of clarity hit when Barry saw the white deer round a corner, General Adaman and the unnamed commander with black hair on its back.
“F-Fern-!” Barry squeaked, pointing in their direction.
With a single word, Fern understood perfectly. It took a ready stance, fully prepared to take on the white deer galloping towards them at top speed.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t going to be that easy. The deer slowed to a stop, and with a single, stern look, Fern staggered.
Hypnosis.
“No-” Barry whispered, seeing Fern try to shake off the effects of the hypnosis and failing. “No!”
“This is for your own good.” Adaman said. “Lord Wyrdeer, another Hypnosis-”
“You don’t know what’s good for me!” Barry shot back, and before he could even utter the command, Mystery flew in for his rescue.
Shrieking like a crobat from hell, Mystery swooped forward, talons aimed directly for the deer’s face. The deer bellowed, rising on its back legs to try and shake Mystery off, General Adaman nearly falling off entirely, if not for the unnamed commander grabbing his shirt.
“You’re not going to stop me! I won’t let you win!” Barry continued to spit like an enraged seviper, recalling Fern to its pokeball.
His adversaries distracted, Barry ran.
Looking over his shoulder, he whistled for Mystery to catch up with him. This proved to be a mistake, as taking his eyes off the path for a split second caused him to trip.
And fall.
Down one of the cliffs.
Luckily for Barry, this particular cliff wasn’t very high, nor was it steep. He mostly slid and scrambled his way down more than fell. This did not stop him from hitting every root and rock on the way down, and it did not make hitting the ground hurt any less.
He laid there for a moment, groaning, his bandaged leg spiking with pain upon impact. Mystery landed next to him with a flutter of feathers, tugging on his clothes to try and pull him up.
Barry couldn’t lay there for long, seeing and hearing something shuffling closer. He sat up, seeing the lumbering form of a giant bear approaching him now.
“Berry…we want to help.” came the soft voice of General Irida. “You’re looking for someone, right? We could help you find her…if you come with us?”
“Don’t try and negotiate with crazy people.” The older woman hissed.
“S’atrap…” Barry slurred as he tried to stand, wincing as he put weight on his injured leg. “‘S a trap. It’s a TRAP. Gonna help me into a GRAVE.”
Mystery cawed loudly in agreement.
“No! No no no, it’s not a trap! We’re not lying to you!” Irida continued to insist as she - and the giant bear with giant bear claws - lumbered closer.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a cave entrance, from a glance it looked too small for the giant bear to fit in.
Could Barry outrun a bear? He was about to find out.
“You’re not getting me. You’re not getting me. You’re not getting me.” he muttered, slowly walking backwards. “You’re not going to win.”
“Berry-!”
“AND THAT’S NOT MY NAME! MY NAME IS BARRY!”
And Barry ran. Bolting for the cave entrance even as the two women yelled and the bear bellowed behind him. The only confirmation of his pokemon by his side was the rustling of feathers as the two bolted for presumed safety.
But he found no solace within the cave. Instead he found two pairs of glowing eyes staring at him.
“You have traveled far, but your determination has not brought you victory. Not this time, young passenger.”
Barry felt a shiver run down his spine.
“Let me introduce myself again. I am the Warden Ingo. You have done well to evade my fellow Wardens, but you will have no such luck with me.”
Ingo assumed a familiar pose; the iconic ‘point and call’ that Barry was familiar with from travel magazines and advertisements for the Battle Subway in Unova. But it was…wrong. Ingo looked horribly stiff, his tattered clothing doing him no favors.
He looked like he had died on this mountain.
Barry quickly glanced around the cave, looking for a potential exit. To his immediate right was a soft glow indicating another cave opening, but the stretched out sneasel clearly noticed as well; starting to slowly skulk over to block it off.
“Now, you are a very smart boy, and a very skilled trainer. The bond between you and your pokemon is admirable.” He lowered his head, the brim of his cap obscuring his eyes and making him look all the more intimidating. “So don’t be stupid, now. Come with us. This track ends here. It’s time to divert your course.”
‘Oh my God.’ Barry thought, sweat forming on his brow. ‘Subway Boss Ingo is going to kill me in this cave.’
He couldn’t go back. And he couldn’t go forward without a fight.
So fight it was.
“MYSTERY, GO GET THAT SNEASEL!”
Ingo and the sneasel seemed surprised by this outcome, but what did they expect, honestly? That Barry was going to give up? Turn himself in? Fat chance.
Mystery flew forward with a horrid screech, flapping its wings and raising its talons to fight the sneasel. It was a longshot; the sneasel had a type advantage, being ice.
Regardless, the sneasel howled and raised its large claws to try and shield itself. Ingo was shouting something, fumbling for his pokeballs. And in the chaos, Barry made a break for it.
Barry ran from the cave, temporarily blinded by sunlight, Mystery flying just behind him. But just behind the wingbeats was the sound of hooves, of heavy paws, shouting, begging, pleading for him to stop, stop, stop, STOP.
And deep down, Barry knew he had to eventually. His lungs were burning, his head felt fuzzy, his leg felt like jelly. The inevitability was killing him. He had to keep running. He had to stop. He had to keep running. He had to stop.
Unfortunately, the terrain decided for him.
Barry yelped, skidding to a stop just before tumbling off another cliff. This one steeper. This one taller. If he fell down this cliff, he wouldn’t have walked away with just scrapes and bruises.
He turned, starting to run back the way he came, but was instead met with the sick arcanine, Palina, and Gaeric.
Barry squeaked, walking backwards as the arcanine slowly inched closer. They were swiftly joined by the other commanders and their respective ride pokemon (or lack of).
He was cornered. Cornered cornered. His legs started to shake as he tried to think of possibilities to get out of this mess, but each potential idea ending in painful failure after painful failure.
“Good God, it’s about time we catch this brat.” said Melli with a snooty huff.
“You didn’t even help! Y-You were in the Moonview Arena!” countered the man with a shaved head in blue.
“I was keeping a watchful eye over my dear Lord! Sinnoh forbid this brat hurt Lord Electrode-”
“Shut it- Shut it!” Adaman hissed as he dismounted the deer. “Squabble later!”
Irida dismounted the bear at the same time. “Ber- Barry. Barry.” she said slowly, hands outstretched as if she were attempting to pacify a great beast instead of a thirteen year old boy.
They were all inching closer now. Barry honestly thought his heart would explode, or his legs would give out. Like his entire body would fall apart at the seams like a poorly made ragdoll.
“P-Pl..please. Don’t hurt my pokemon.” was the only thing Barry managed to say, reaching to pet Mystery’s inky feathers without looking away from the encroaching commanders.
Behind him, Mystery let out a soft, confused croon.
“Should we have Ingo use sleep powder on him again?” Gaeric asked.
The woman on the deer looked surprised. “Ingo did what?”
“No, no, none of that. We’re not going to do anything drastic.” Irida spoke as if she were speaking for Barry’s behalf as well. Perhaps urging him to comply. “Were just going to take him to the Galaxy Headquarters in Jubilife-”
“Team Galactic is in Jubilife?” asked Barry, quietly, almost in disbelief. Last he knew, the Galactic Headquarters should be in Eterna city. But this is a world where Cyrus ruled, and why wouldn’t he move his headquarters to the biggest city in Sinnoh?
Of course, that did him little good now, stuck between a horde of commanders and a cliff face, metaphorical rock and a hard place. And now he just felt stupid for running around a mountain all day. Barry could feel the tears start to well in his eyes.
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.
With a determined croak, Mystery threw the boy onto its back. It took Barry a minute to get more comfortable, practically throwing his arms around Mystery’s neck. It was a lot different than riding his Staratpor back home, that’s for certain.
Mystery looked over its shoulder. Barry looked back, eyes widening in realization.
He nodded.
“THAT TRACK IS NOT SAFE FOR TRAVERSAL!” Ingo shouted, voice frantic and fearful, reaching for the pokeball containing Gliscor. “FOR YOUR SAFETY I ASK YOU DISMOUNT IMMEDIATELY!”
“Ingo, what are you saying?!” the old woman on the back of the bear demanded.
Sabi answered for him. “HE’S GONNA JUMP!”
The group surged forward. Some begging, some yelling, but all telling the boy in some form to get away from the cliff.
“He doesn’t have the guts! Only Lord Braviary can fly carrying someone!” Melli loudly scoffed. “The brat might as well do a flip to entertain the crowd!”
Adaman turned and sharply hissed, “Melli, with Sinnoh as my witness, I will strangle you.”
Barry and Mystery paid the crowd no mind. The small bit of space before the drop-off would provide the bird a decent running start; so Mystery turned and began to sprint directly for the cliff’s edge.
Of course, Barry hadn’t seen a single Technical Machine lying around since he arrived, let alone the Hidden Machine for Fly. But he had to trust in his pokemon, and trust that Mystery wouldn’t let him plummet to his death-
“Wait WAIT WAIT- I CHANGED MY-”
Mystery jumped.
For the briefest of moments, Barry felt weightless. Looking out over the mountainous hills, he felt…small. Like a feather, or maybe a dandelion puff in the breeze.
And then gravity kicked in, and the two began to fall.
And fall.
And fall.
Seeing the ground rushing to meet him, Barry squeezed his eyes shut tight, “Mystery I’m sorry for threatening to turn you into a feather duster!” he said, fighting to speak against the wind. ”God, take pity on my little broken body!”
He couldn’t see it, but at that, Mystery smirked.
Barry felt Mystery start to flap its wings, and the pressure of gravity beginning to fade. He cracked open an eye, seeing the landscape flying by.
“W-We’re flying! WE’RE FLYING!!”
Feeling the wind in his hair, seeing the world blur past…he had missed this. He had grown so used to flying on Staraptor back home, it had become so mundane. But this? This was a completely different ballpark.
“W-We can fly to Jubilife from here! It shouldn’t be that far- Mystery, fly us to the top of Mount Coronet!” he commanded.
Behind them came a screech. Barry spun around, seeing that the enormous bird Sabi commanded, a gliscor, and a crobat was currently tailing them.
“UH-”
Barry couldn’t exactly start a pokemon battle in the sky. A sky battle? That sounded incredibly stupid. Instead, Barry rummaged through his bag and started throwing things. The rocks and sticks and other random items that Snacks had brought him proved excellent ammo.
Unfortunately, this only caused annoyance. Both for the pokemon pursuing them and for Mystery.
Mystery cawed and cawed nonstop, Barry meekly closing his bag and wrapping his arms around the bird’s neck once more, which finally seemed to pacify it.
Then, in a swift motion, Mystery rolled onto its back, slashing at the crobat with its talons. And with another swipe, slashed at the gliscor.
As Mystery rolled back, the crobat and gliscor retreated.
Only the enormous bird remained.
Mystery and Barry darted through the mountains, trying to shake the bird off their trail and to form some sort of sense of direction. But even the fanciest of tricks couldn’t get rid of it.
Regardless, Mystery darted through a cloud layer and emerged out the top, slowly circling the peak of Mount Coronet.
The first thing Barry set his eyes upon was the swirling vortex in the sky; a blackened, gaping wound that bled lightning and thunder. That same, terrible unease from before gripped Barry’s entire rib cage and began to squeeeeeze.
After some effort, Barry tore his gaze away. “Spear Pillar should be-huh?”
In Spear Pillar’s place was…well, a temple. Carved marble columns, statues, a stone roof- it was like someone came and fixed Spear Pillar overnight.
“I…I guess Cyrus likes old architecture?” It’d certainly fit him, Cyrus looked ancient.
“Those are the stairs! And they face North!” said Barry, pointing at the landmark. He then did some mental triangulation, using the tried and true method of ‘Never Eat Soggy Wurmples’, Barry was able to mentally map out where Jubilife should be.
“Mystery! We gotta head Southwest! We should hit Jubilife-”
Bursting from the clouds like a Sharpedo out of water, the giant bird screeched as it tried to grab the two with its claws.
Mystery screamed back, loud enough to hurt Barry’s ears (Snarl, maybe? Could Honchkrow learn Snarl?) and to make the bird hesitate. And within this hesitation, Mystery dashed forward, talons raised in attack.
Barry almost felt bad. But at this point he was just a passenger on this flight.
With a pained whimper, the enormous bird sank below the clouds, defeated.
Barry stroked Mystery’s chest feathers. “Let’s head out of here before it comes back. Onward! To Jubilife!”

ok okokk i may be pushing it but i just cant stop picturing barry circa 2012 with leaving!bucky. i just feel like theyd have the cutest dynamic ever. he gives art student vibes like maybe hes studying film or literature. theyre childhood bestfriends and maybe they were eachother's homoerotic-codependent-friendship canon event. UGHH theyd be so cute stfuu. and maybe bucky and gale are already established and curt is just yearning for a whileee like over a year of slow burn until the three of them are a throuple... idk i just miss curtbuckbucky. you dont have to change your canon for the long fic i just needed to share this idea lmfao
au post | NO ur not pushing it this is such fun world building teehee <33 genuinely this is gonna help me later for drafting! (FUCK MY LIFE HOW IS THIS 2K WORDS. i thought i only had a few thoughts... i was so wrong. my bad chief. enjoy/suffer ig)
ok so this is so funny because i've actually been thinking ab how sweet those two would be together, cute little nerdy besties, and how they'd meet because of course curt has to be in this fic!!
and the first thing my mind went to was the cliche homoerotic codependent friendship trope too LMAO. i'm feeling like maybe they meet on the first day of highschool; neither of them share their english class with any friends, and they end up sat next to each other, and john keeps side–eyeing him because curt looks... interesting. (ie: deep into his emo phase. the fringe. the smudged eyeshadow. chipped black nail polish, band shirts– all things john does not let him live down as they grow up.)
but his eyes settle on some pin on curt's jacket that has some character from his favourite movie or something, and the yap jumps out, john can't control it. blurts out a "you like ___ too?!" and curt's head snaps over and he nods nervously and john takes one look at those big sad charcoal–ringed blue puppy eyes and is like yup. this is the one. will protect with my life.
(tiny headcanon that rly won't have a big effect on plot or anything, but i feel like it just fits very well with john/his character in leaving– dude's got madddd undiagnosed adhd. he's written off as a loud mouth/troublemaker in his childhood, but he wants to be a good kid, his mind is just always going too fast and sitting still is torture and his parents get frustrated and don't look into the root of the problem, trying to discipline it out of him instead. i will heal my inner child by healing him alright)
they're attached at the hip from that moment on and it makes sense to no one because they seem like complete opposites, curt more inclined towards the arts and bookish things and his friends are all the same, whereas john is more inclined towards athletics and science and hangs around that type of crowd as well. but they both love video games and movies and music and they bond over never really feeling like they fit in anywhere particular and both groups of friends get along just fine when they all get together. <3
but yk time goes on, they learn things about themselves as they grow up, and curt and john are so close and spend so much time together that they're already a lot closer than regular friends– they just don't realize it. they think nothing of cuddling up on the couch watching movies together, or sharing a bed when john stays over at curt's place after he gets into a fight with his parents, or being much more interested in spending time together than pursuing girls.
and curt's pretty– john nearly mistakes him for a girl that first day they meet. the summer before their senior year, john practically spends the whole summer at curt's house, and curt's mom doesn't mind; she works long hours and is glad her son isn't spending the summer moping around indoors alone, and she loves john and gets the feeling that her home is a sanctuary for him. one day they're in the backyard lazing around, and they get onto the topic of first kisses, and neither of them have had a proper relationship outside of those classic week–long middleschool flings that don't actually mean anything, so there's not much to talk about.
but being dumb teenage boys, they start worrying about "what if we're really bad at kissing and no girls wanna go with us to senior prom this year" etc. and one of them pops the suggestion of practicing together, and thus begins a summer of sweet stolen kisses and hand holding and experimenting and dancing around calling it something. it ends when the summer does because they realize that they both work better as friends, but they're as close as ever and both definitely learn they aren't straight (and they probably make a cute pact– "if we aren't in love by the time we're thirty, we'll just marry each other.")
i don't see them really doing much together because they're young and shy and inexperienced, but it's enough for john to decide that yeah, he definitely likes guys too, but that's all that really amounts to (until he meets gale) because he's growing up in a small town in wisconsin and it's not the easiest/most accepting place to find other queers. john probably ends up dating a real sweet girl during his last year of highschool, but she's going away for college and john's going to a local one so it ends amicably at the end of summer, both of them staying close friends. (if we wanna get sickeningly wholesome, maybe she ends up pining for a girl while john's pining for gale and they share their little stories and give each other advice and facetime every week to catch up <3)
(++ curt ends up falling head over heels for ken, who he meets through john when curt and john's friend groups get together for movie nights or summer parties. john pretends to be annoyed at how lovesick they are when they first start crushing, but he ends up matchmaking and being the one to push them to confess their feelings after graduation because he loves his friends.)
BUT THEN, leaving this fic's 'canon' to elaborate on the throuple stuff you said! i miss curtbuckbucky too </3
in a separate universe, curt doesn't end up with ken, and as much as he loves his friendship with john and agrees that a relationship wouldn't have worked at that time in their lives, he spends that first year of college pining. when john starts talking about some guy named gale during their second year, he's a little sad, but mostly protective, because "what do you MEAN he's in his 30s??" and "he's a BIKER?"
but john eventually introduces him to gale after a few months of telling curt about him, probably once he and gale actually start seeing each other, and curt immediately gets it. and then he's in double–hell because not only is he a bit (a lot) in love with his best friend, but he's blushing every time said best friend's new bf talks to him, and they're gonna notice eventually if they haven't already and he feels so guilty.
more yearning ensues and john is dense and doesn't realize but gale picks up on it, maybe even notices john doing a bit of pining of his own that john's not fully aware of. and his heart twists because his mind goes to his own insecurities about how john should be seeing someone his own age, so he sits john down and opens up a conversation about it. john is adamant that he's very, very happy with gale, but he tells gale about his and curt's past and admits that he has always still had feelings for him, but insists that it's not something he'd ever pursue, that he values curt's friendship more.
gale throws him off by saying he wouldn't mind if john wanted to explore those feelings, and at first john gets anxious gale is calling things off with the two of them and this is his way of softening the blow, but gale reassures him that's not the case, that he's very happy with their relationship. he just encourages that if he wants to talk to curt and feel things out, he wouldn't be opposed to john and curt seeing each other as well– gale's often busy, after all, so it would be nice for john to have someone else, as long as curt's comfortable with that kind of arrangement and as long as john keeps gale in the loop.
they decide to kinda just feel it out as they go, but soon enough gale starts coming home from work every so often to find the two of them curled up on his couch together, sweet and innocent. curt's wary at first, always slightly detaching himself from john when gale's around, but gale is always friendly and doesn't change up his routine, settling on the couch at john's other side like it's not a big deal at all, wanting to show curt he's welcome there, not wanting john to feel guilty.
it's another scenario where lines just sorta start to blur over time, curt spending a lot of time over at gale's house, and gale sees the way curt looks at him, probably noticed it from the first time they met but chalked it up to nerves at the time. curt's an angel and he's grown quite fond of him, but he doesn't want to overstep, so he leaves it up to curt, thinking maybe the boy will mention it to john one day and john will in turn come to gale to talk about it.
and eventually that happens, just like gale thought it might. curt's just gone home and john's head is in his lap on the couch while they watch tv, and john asks "what do you think about curt?" and gale tells him that he's sweet and he loves how much john smiles when he's around him, the usual. "so you like him?" john pushes, and gale immediately has a feeling where this conversation is going, drags his eyes away from the tv to look down at john.
says "of course" easily, and lets john take his time forming his thoughts. john ends up telling him that he and curt were fooling around earlier while gale was at work (and god help gale for the images that puts in his head) and that he'd made some offhand comment about how curt better hurry up if he doesn't want gale to come home and catch him half naked on their couch. and john's all shy when he says "and curt, uh. y'know. that... did it for him" with a vague gesture LOL. gale never fails to find it amusing how certain things can fluster john to talk about after all they've done together.
"so, anyway. i asked him about it after, if it was a coincidence, and he was real shy about it, but he did admit after a whole lot of apologizing that he likes you." gale listens to him nervously get his words out, petting his hair encouragingly, waits for him to be done before he asks "how do you feel about that?" only to watch the flush return when john mumbles "it's hot."
this is getting sooo long i need to take away my own typing privileges, but basically that's how things would start between the three of them– john and gale agree that gale will let himself be a bit flirty with curt and see how curt takes it. obviously this goes a little too well when curt gets hot and bothered sat between john and gale during a movie night with john's hand on his knee and gale's arm resting on the couch behind him while he plays with curt's hair.
the movie is forgotten when gale's finger catches on a tangled curl and curt doesn't bite back the little whine that slips out in time and john's head snaps over and he mumbles a "fuck" when he realizes what's happened, and his lack of filter comes out to play when he turns to curt and asks "curt, can gale kiss you?" and curt turns to gale with big doll eyes and nods.
john ends up palming himself over his shorts as he watches gale coax curt into his lap, face hot and pupils blown as he gets to see both his guys make out in front of him, almost dizzy seeing curt get so shy and needy and pliant because when it's just the two of them, he and curt are both very balanced in their dynamic. they've been such close friends for so long that not much gets the other truly shy like that, and they're always quick to voice their wants and crack jokes while fooling around and all. so to see curt get so flustered in that way with gale has him lightheaded, and by the time they all collapse into gale's bed at the end of the night, john's convinced this is the best decision he's ever made.
there's a lot of pining on curt's end because for a while it's kinda just sex when it's the three of them, and he loves it but he also finds himself wanting more but feeling too scared to voice it because he feels like he's intruding. but eventually they all get their shit sorted out; curt fits into their relationship just right in a way gale and john never intended or expected, and gale falls for curt just as much as john has and curt does the same with gale.
gale's got two sweet things glued to his side now and man, do they ever give him a run for his money, and if he'd thought john had too much energy (and stamina) it's nothing compared to keeping up with both of them, but he wouldn't have it any other way. <3
throuple things won't be happening in the actual fic, but i do love the idea of exploring the dynamic the three of them might have in a spin–off of that au so this was rly fun thx :-) maybe i'll write a pwp oneshot set in that universe as an excuse to write more curtbuckbucky once the fic is done LOL we'll see!

what do the guys like most about the over burnt kooks and what makes them clash? Like their differences.
Hmmmm...I think there would be a lot differences Pogue v Kook wise, but here we go:
JJ x burnt out, overachieving Kook [prompt 1] [prompt 2]
Likes that she stands up for herself (even if it sometimes gets her in trouble which mostly it does). She's fiery like him and doesn't let him get away with crap. He knows where he stands, she upfront and has clear boundaries when it comes to them two.
But JJ doesn't like that she can't stand her ground with her family, there's no fight when it comes to them and it takes a lot for her open up about anything family wise. She has the notion of not complaining because nothing compares to what JJ deals with at home. She has money and nice house, she doesn't think her situation is worthy of being complained about.
Pope x burnt out, overachieving Kook [prompt 1] [ask]
Likes how her mind works, he's always picking her brain and debating the most random things. She's really competitive and she pushes him logically. They definitely can get carried away, going off in their world whilst everyones wondering what their going on about.
What makes them clash? They are a bit too much alike, all brains and trying to figure out how to express their emotions to each other. So most acts of intimacy are clumsy, teeth clinking together from wondering if the timing is right or if the other wants to. Pope's definitely ripped one of her favourite blouses during foreplay and she's accidentally broke one of his comic figurines. They go to other people trying to decipher why whose done what, when they should talk it out themselves.
Kiara x burnt out, overachieving Kook [prompt 1]
Likes how caring and present she is when she spends time with anyone. Their summer is deeply ingrained in Kiara's mind and she's only ever seen burnt out kook in her relaxed side with hardly any responsibilities.
When summer ends and school starts again, Kiara doesn't like how burnt Kook is back to grind and always having to look after her younger siblings. She's very caring, but neglects herself in order to make sure she steps up in areas her Parents are too busy with work to do. A lot of their arguments about how burnt out kook needs to focus on herself and tell her parents they need to be the parents.
John B x burnt out, overachieving Kook [prompt 1]
Likes that she's always up for a challenge and adventure. They're always researching or fixing something together. Lots in common, they love to watch old movies like Indiana Jones and the goonies etc.
Doesn't like how she second guesses her interactions with him and guys in general, as if her opinion doesn't matter. Takes him a while to coax her out of shell. Constantly telling her to say whatever she wants, "Just hit me with it."
Rafe x burnt out, overachieving Kook [prompt 1] [prompt 2]
Likes that she can hold her own, she's calculative and everything she does is well thought out. Business minded when it comes to Barry's operation and he likes that. Their relationship begins feeling very much like a transaction, taking and giving to each other before they actually start to get attached.
Doesn't like how she'll do anything to get away from her family, he's very loyal his and its something he has trouble trying to understand. Rafe's always trying to figure out her motives, if she can get in deep with Barry in order to escape her family...What's she willing to do to get rid of him? She's a lot like him and mirrors him, so it's unsettling that she's chosen to go the opposite to him.
BONUS - Barry x burnt out, overachieving Kook [ask]
Barry likes how she doesn't care about the world around her, she can close out the buzz and even help him shut it out. There's an easy comfort around her, makes him want to be a little more kinder than he normally is. Knows that she's only doing it for her interests and he's doing the exact same.
Doesn't like that she's getting too involved with other people (not as if her has claim over her). He just thinks that business, is business and she needs to keep it that way.
Thanks for asking, if you have any more send them in - Yiiyii

prompt: barry and iris thinking that Cisco and caitlin are together in early s3 and accidentally embarrassing them by addressing their incorrect assumption to their face
Okay so Ik you sent this in like 3 years ago but i felt inspired ig so here it is! Happy late holidays everyone and happy new year!
Iris walked into the cortex and heard giggling. She wasn’t sure where it was coming from but it didn’t sound like her boyfriend.
“Barry?” She just needed to be sure. She stared at the Flash suit on the mannequin in front of her. The hollow metal stared back at her through the eye holes. She got no response.
“That’s not true, Cisco,” she heard a voice from the med bay. This one she was sure was Caitlin.
“Of course it is, I could hear it throughout the entire apartment.” She heard another voice. Definitely Cisco.
“I do not snore!” Caitlin said, Iris could hear the annoyance in her voice. She heard another laugh out of Cisco and the beginning of footsteps coming in her direction.
“Well I beg to differ,” he twirled a twizzler between his fingers as he entered the cortex. “Thanks again for staying over last night, I really needed that.” He patted Caitlin on the shoulder.
“No problem, any time you need something I’ll be there.” She reassured him, squeezing his arm. “Oh, Iris!” Caitlin’s voice rose three octaves.
“Hi,” she waved at her friends from her spot behind the console. Both of their faces were bright red.
“Iris!” Cisco’s voice cracked. “What are you doing here so early in the day?” He leaned against one of the rails.
Iris’ eyes narrowed, she looked at Cisco. Then to Caitlin, then back to Cisco. She sat down in one of the chairs and sighed.
“I was coming to do some research on this alchemy character but I don’t know,” she paused, looking between the two of them. “Maybe you guys got this covered.” She cleared her throat.
Caitlin looked down, now realizing how close she had been standing next to her best friend. She could feel his breath on her cheek.
“We could always use the help, and besides we have as little information as you do right now.” Caitlin suggested, taking a step away from Cisco. He seemed to not like the loss of contact to Iris’ observation because his lips knit into a tight frown.
“I think I’ll be okay at my dad’s.” She smiled, spinning in her chair and giving a wave over her shoulder as she left.
“What was that?” She could hear Cisco asking as she walked down the hallway.
“I don’t know, we could’ve used your help,” Caitlin sounded unsure.
“But I wanted to spend some time with you.” Iris almost thought that sounded like a whine, as she paused halfway to the elevator.
“I was at your place all night, Cisco.” She could almost hear the eye roll in Caitlin’s voice.
“Yeah but it’s not the same,” Cisco whined. Iris knew he was jutting his bottom lip out at that point.
When she opened the door to her Dad’s house, she wasn’t expecting her boyfriend to be sitting on the couch.
“Hey you,” he said, looking up as she leaned over to give him a kiss. “Where were you this morning?”
“STAR labs, trying to get some research done.” She sat down across from him.
“And what did you find?” He asked between kisses.
“I think,” She kissed him back. “I think our friends are lying to us.”
Barry pulled back, raising an eyebrow. “And that would be,”
“I think Cisco and Caitlin might be,” she took a deep breath. “I think they’re together.”
Barry opened his mouth and then closed it again.
“I know it sounds crazy,” Iris started. “But you should’ve seen it, Barry, they were so,”
Barry brushed his hand against her cheek. “What happened exactly?”
Iris explained about the giggling and the blushing and the close contact. “She even stayed at his house last night.”
Barry rolled his eyes and stared at his girlfriend. “She does that sometimes, y’know since Dante died and all he’s been,” he trailed off.
“I know that, but Barry,” she took a breath, “this was so different.”
Barry nodded, trying to understand. “So let’s say you’re right and they are dating,” he countered. “Why haven’t they told us yet? I mean they’re our friends, we’d be happy for them, they know that.”
Iris ruffled his hair and scooter closer. “Yeah but maybe they’re just not ready yet, not everyone is ready to tell everyone about a relationship right when it starts.”
He smiled, kissing her on the cheek. “You’re so smart!”
“I know.” Iris smiled, shrugging and squeezing his arm.
Later, when they walked into the cortex to find Cisco leaning over Caitlin’s shoulder with barely any room between them, Barry and Iris shared a glance.
Iris cleared her throat, causing Cisco to look up abruptly, backing up slightly toward the wall.
“Hi guys, didn’t hear you come in.” His face bright red. Caitlin looked up from the screen and waved at her friends.
“Hi guys, how did the research go?” She asked.
“We could ask you the same thing.” Barry smirked, crossing his arms and looking between them.
“Is there something you wanna tell us?” Iris pursed her lips, coming to stand next to Barry.
“Nope I don’t think so. Good chat, catch you guys later for dinner maybe. Caitlin lets go,” Cisco grasped her wrist and started to pull her out of the cortex.
“Really, so you weren’t going to have dinner with just Caitlin, then Cisco?” Barry’s smirk faded into a floppy grin.
“Well maybe, but that’s because we’re friends, nothing else,” Caitlin’s eyes went wide.
“What?” She looked at Cisco, his head tilted toward the ground. “Cisco, what is Barry implying?”
“Wait, so you guys aren’t together?” Barry scratched his head.
“Yeah, we’re not.” Cisco frowned, “thanks for that.” He began to run out the door but he felt a hand stop him.
“Cisco, what is he taking about?” Her eyes were big and brown and full of confusion, Cisco wanted to cry right there on the spot.
Iris tapped Barry’s shoulder as if to signal for them to leave. He nodded and took her hand.
When Cisco could no longer hear footsteps, he sighed.
“I,” he wasn’t sure where he was going with this. “I think that I like you. Like, like you like you.” He scrunched his eyes shut.
“Oh,” Caitlin breathed out.
“And I thought that with all this extra time we’ve been spending together recently, you might just maybe feel the same way.” He hugged himself tightly. Caitlin stayed planted in front of him.
“Which you clearly don’t, so it doesn’t matter anyway.” He began to walk away when he felt an arm tug him forward.
“Cisco,” Caitlin began. “You think I don’t like you, I mean you know have feelings for you?” He nodded. She put an arm on his shoulder.
“I thought it was all just in my head, I thought you just liked having me over as a friend, and having assistance on your projects as a friend, I never thought you wanted something more or I would’ve told you.” And with that it all became clear.
He put his hand on her cheek, brushing his fingers lightly over her skin. “Can I kiss you?”
Caitlin giggled, nodded, and then she leaned in. At first she hesitated, but then they both let go and it was as if it was always supposed to happen like this.
When Cisco finally pulled back, after what seemed like hours, he just stared into her eyes. He tried to search them for any kind of answer, as if this was another equation he had to solve.
Caitlin just shook her head, and leaned back in to kiss him again.
He knew he had done something right when he could feel her smile against his lips.
He wasn’t sure what they would make of this, but maybe he had someone else to thank, or maybe this was always going to happen anyway.

Pairings: Barry Keoghan x Reader
Warnings: angst, swearing, fluff, implied smut, mentions of alcoholism and death.
Summary: A failed marriage wasn't in the cards for Reader, she thought she found her happily ever after with Barry. While trying to overcome the heartbreak, a tragic event brings them back together temporarily. Will the devastating loss bring them back together or be what pushes them apart for good?
Authors Note: This story clearly isn't as popular as my others, but I still have a blast writing it.
Tumblr media
The television played in the background, the noise falling on deaf ears because my mind was elsewhere, filled with thoughts of something else.
Someone else.
Barry had been gone for most of the morning and afternoon, needing to take care of some things on his end. He needed to stop by home to take Koda somewhere since Barry was going to be spending most of his free time with me. Before I even thought of the outcome of my words, they spewed from my mouth like vomit.
“You could bring him here. I do miss him.”
Barry tensed with hesitation. “I don’t think that’s a good idea. Don’t want to get his hopes up that we're back together.”
At that point, I mentally smacked myself for even thinking that.
He also wanted to head to the gym for a quick workout, not having much time to box lately. I couldn’t stop the smile that played on my lips when I remembered all the times I would show up to support him, be in his corner, for every single one of his fights before we got divorced.
With an annoyed groan, I did my best to focus on whatever was on the television, not wanting to think about Barry any longer. It didn’t last long, however, because my phone buzzed next to me with his name popping up on the screen.
How’s your day going?
My heart fluttered at his text but I tried not to think too much into it, Barry probably wanted to make sure that I wasn’t drunk.
The thought did cross my mind a few times today but I knew that in order to have him out of my life, I had to keep up my end of our deal. As much as I still loved him, I couldn’t bear the thought of being around him dictating every part of my life or what I do. He lost that chance when we signed the divorce papers.
“Just get through the next few days and I can have a much needed drink,” I muttered to myself before replying to Barry’s text.
Good. Watching t.v.
I didn’t have time to set my phone down before another text from him came through.
Staying sober?
A tiny groan fell from my lips.
Yes considering you threw out all of the alcohol in my parents house.
Are we about to fight over text right now?
“Don’t be a dick and we won’t,” I grumbled to myself.
I don’t want to. I’m tired of fighting with you, Barry.
The anger was festering inside of me and I knew that if we continued to talk, one of us would say something mean or hurtful; again. So with my phone now on silent, I set it on the table in front of me and decided to pass the time by eating lunch and it was when I stepped out the shower, wrapping a towel around me, that I finally decided to check my phone.
Two unread messages from Barry. The first one came in right as I had set my phone down and the second one was from only a couple minutes ago.
I hate fighting with you, Y/N. I always have. I’m only checking in because I care about you, whether you want to believe it or not.
My heart skipped a beat as I read the message a few more times then when I read the second one, it damn near bursted out of my chest.
I’m about to head to the gym to spar for a bit. Maybe afterwards we can meet for lunch? Like old times?
I typed a response before I could even second guess my decision.
You know I’d never turn that down.
My erratic heart didn't calm as I rushed to get myself ready.
Tumblr media
Music was blasting in the small gym as I walked up, nerves wrecking my entire body so I wrung my hands together in hopes to hide it. While I was sitting at home waiting for him, I thought it would be better if I met Barry here before we head to lunch. My eyes scanned around the room to find Barry but it wasn’t until I heard his laugh coming from the opened garage door that led outside.
Hearing that laugh breathed life into the butterflies that laid dormant in my stomach for the last year.
As I walked outside, I saw Barry sparring with one of his trainers, the sun beating down on his bare back. The familiar itch burned between my legs while I carefully watched each and every muscle tense as Barry laid punch after punch to the trainer's pads. His breathing was fast and short, almost sounding like how we used to lay together between the sheets.
The two stopped momentarily when his trainer noticed I had walked up and he nodded towards me.
“Your wife is here.”
Barry quickly turned on his feet, a small smile pulling at his lips. I was so engrossed in the way he looked that I didn’t catch what his trainer called me. But if Barry did, he made no effort to correct him.
“What are you doing here?” He asked while taking off his boxing gloves and set them to the ground.
I shrugged. “I thought it would be alright if I met you here. If not, I can leave.”
Barry swiftly shook his head, stopping me as I began to walk away. “No, it’s alright. Give me a few more minutes then we can head out.”
With a nod, I stepped to the side as he went back to sparring, the previous feeling returning in my veins. Every inch of his skin glinted underneath the sunlight and the metaphoric drool spilled between my lips.
“Are ya staring?” Barry called over his shoulder, not even looking at me.
I cleared my throat and adjusted my stance to a straighter position. “No.”
He nodded a quick goodbye to the trainer before he gave me his full attention once more.
“You’ve always been a terrible liar,” Barry gave me a cheeky smile.
My cheeks burned with embarrassment so I crossed my arms over my chest, ready to fastley change the subject.
“When’s your fight?”
He took a large gulp of his water. “Saturday.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?” I shook my head slightly dumbfounded. “I used to come to every one of your fights.”
Barry would always tell me when he had a fight, excitement clear on his face. Besides acting, boxing was another passion of his.
There was stiff hesitation from him. “When we were married, I didn’t think you’d want to come to this one.”
All I could do was look at my feet while I shifted on them, the embarrassment scorching over my skin. Every time I thought that we were getting close again, one of us brought up the fact that we were not together anymore. It made the sting in my heart hurt that much more because unlike Barry, I never forgot about him or what we went through together.
“Hey,” Barry’s soft voice and gentle touch on my hand as he squeezed it. “Ya alright?”
My eyes darted from his hand in mind, the all too familiar feeling of his skin on mine made my body shiver with excitement; heart skipping a few beats.
Our eyes now locked and I nodded. “Should we head to lunch?”
He could see in the way I then shifted my gaze back to my feet that something was still bothering me but Barry didn’t want to press, worried that I would cause a scene in front of everyone here.
“Course,” he smiled, leading me out of the gym.

so i made a chart on my headcannons for how i think the resi characters would identify their sexualities. it's not totally comprehensive of all sexualities, of course, and i left romantic flags off for space reasons. i also put a clean version of the chart for your own hyperinterest fandom needs (maybe type words instead of spending an hour on circles like me idk) obligatory: this is a silly lil opinion, not analysis
Tumblr media
some quick thoughts on my hcs:
some bisexuals in this category choose this label because it’s just what theyre used to (wesker, billy coen), others because they think it sounds sexier than pansexual (carlos)
however, I think excella would identify as bi for illogical terf reasons
OG re4 ashley is homophobic. 4 remake ashley is a sweet asexual lesbian who supports her best friends, two guys fucking (leon and luis)
only sherry uses the word “pansexual” for herself, everyone else gives generalized “gender doesn’t matter to me” answers (except leon, who blushes but won’t say anything)
jill goes back and forth on how to define herself but she’s not too concerned with picking a label. if she likes you, you’ll know, otherwise don’t worry about it
helena is asexual, aromantic, and tired of the allosexual shenanigans of re6
maybe barry had a gay experience in the military, but if so it's essentially a repressed memory. he fought w his daughter moira when she first came out for what were certainly unrelated reasons, but now he's a proud ally to his queer child.
ethan and heisenburg absolutely had homoerotic tension but it only went one way. ik theres a lot of fanwork for gay ethan but i get nothing queer from that guy sorry
mia's conservative coded to me in a way i can't quite explain. like i think she would have kicked her daughter out of the house for being queer
Here's the clean chart:

Collide-Justin Herbert-38
Tumblr media
This is all fanfiction purposes I do not own or know the Chargers. Thank you! Also TW: A tiny hint of reference to suicide.
"Baby I need to get on the plane." Justin moaned as he broke the kiss for a second before Sara pulled him back to her. They were parked on the upper level parking garage away from everyone. Locked in an intense makeout session for the past ten minutes, Justin still had another twenty minutes before he had to be in the terminal. Sara thought that was more than enough time for some activities.
While Justin was enjoying himself, he also was a little nervous. While he was more understanding of the paps, he didn't want photos of them making out published everywhere for everyone to see. Sara finally pulled away, but to work on his neck and her lips found his spot. "Sara what if we get caught.. oh god" He trailed off in a moan.
She laughed against his neck. "Baby, you really don't think these windows aren't tinted? We could fuck like we did after Bella's party and no one would know."
"Umm well the car would be rocking, someone would call the cops." Sara rolled her eyes. "You fucking nerd." He laughed. "I just don't want our first time to be in a car."
"Damn you're a virgin?" She joked.  He rolled his eyes. "You know what I mean." She laughed and kissed him. "I'll miss you." She pouted. "It's only for a week, then you will be back in California and I can hold you hostage in bed." Sara smiled, but Justin knew it wasn't her full smile. "What's wrong?"
"I guess that means I'm going to have to confront Erika?" He nodded. The past week Sara came to terms that Erika was no longer to be trusted, and that she would have to cut her off as a member of her team and a friend. Justin found her crying a couple of times in the night and comforted her. He couldn't imagine the level of betrayal she felt.
"I don't want you to be alone with her okay? I just don't trust her." She nodded. "Bella said the same thing. I'm surprised she hasn't flown out to LA to rip her head off." She laughed, remembering what her friend said when she told her the news.
It had been a hectic week since Mike was released from the hospital. He couldn't do the usual activities just yet, as he was confined to a wheelchair 24/7 the first few days. He could stand and walk around with therapy, but he got winded easily, as the physical therapist told him it would take months to be back to his old self.
In a video meeting with his board and colleagues. Mike announced his retirement, saying this was his second chance to enjoy the rest of his life. The board was in shambles. A few, including Barry, supported the decision. The thirty seven years Mike put into the company were some of the toughest, craziest, hectic known to man but Michael Wozniak was going to leave on a high note.
It seemed he was enjoying his time off. Trying to do as much as he could in his condition. Justin and Sara would go by the house after he had his therapy and spend time with the family. While Mike and Sara's relationship wasn't perfect, it was on the mend. As for Willa she was on bail waiting to go before a judge. The family blocked her number, and thanks to the restraining order that her team put in place she wasn't allowed to go near her.
Unfortunately, The Chargers wanted Justin back in Los Angeles. Contract negotiations and they wanted to be rehab by their trainers. He decided to go back reluctantly, and thanked the Pittsburgh trainers for everything.
Justin was disappointed in going back. He didn't get to spend too much alone time with Sara. Between running back and forth with Mike, everyone attempts to go back to their normal routine, they were constantly on the run.
"Your family is great but wow. You were right, they are tiring." He told her one night as she was getting ready for bed. Snuggling up to him, she hummed. "Yeah, and when my parents were working and all the sports my sisters were in. Constant running around, probably why I spent so much time in my room. It gave me peace and quiet." She laughed and Justin smiled.
Lost in the memories, Justin looked down at his watch. "Okay, I got to go." She nodded and kissed him. "Call me when you land. I love you."
"I love you, tell Charlie I'm sorry for missing his party." Sara would be staying in Pittsburgh for another week for her nephews birthday. He was disappointed that Justin couldn't make it. But he understood from an early age about work. One of the things Mike promised to make up for. "My dad has a lot of lost time to make up for, not just me but for his grandkids." She told Justin.
Once he was situated on the plane, he let his mind wander off. Sara grew up a lot differently than him. While his family was middle class, they were close and would never put work above each other. Her family had tons of money, and to some degree they were close, but they had all been affected by the mistakes Mike and Cathy made. That much was evident when she took him on a tour of the large childhood home she grew up in. She told him how many nights she cried on the balcony when her parents fought, when they missed shows of hers. How guilty she felt crying over this when her classmates like Erika were struggling and she had everything at her fingertips.
"I always felt like a failure. All of the parties we had here, everytime people would look at me and say, "Oh Mike, she's going to be the one living with you til she's 30 with that silly little dream of hers. Where did you go wrong with this one?"
"I can only imagine how hurtful that was hearing that." She looked at him. "If we have children, I will not allow anyone to talk about them like that." He nodded. "I agree."
He couldn't imagine having your own friend's and family as your worst critic. His family had always expressed their support, even when things didn't go their way. His only criticism came from scouting and the NFL analysts. Even then, he had support from friends and family. She told him. "I couldn't love myself out of my world shitting on me."
He fell asleep on the rest of the plane ride. He landed in Los Angeles where Mike was waiting for him. As much as he was happy to be with his girlfriend on the east coast he missed Los Angeles. He was ready to get back to football. Justin kept up with the news and knew the guys they gained and lost. Losing Drew hurt alot, especially to Kansas City but that was business. Getting off the plane, he spotted his wide receiver with a big smile on his face. After doing their bro hug they went to Mike's car making small conversation. It wasn't until they got into Mike's car that the questions came.
"So you and Sara are good?" Justin smiled and nodded. "Aye! That's my boy, finally got your head out of your ass." He slapped his hand on Justin's shoulder as they hit the Los Angeles traffic. Justin didn't miss this. He laughed before turning serious, Mike was one of his best friends on the team and wouldn't tell a soul. "We know who the leak is."
Mike didn't take his eyes off the road. "Oh yeah who?"
"Her best friend slash assistant Erika." Mike did take his eyes off the road for that news. "No way, the redhead that always has a pout on her face?" Justin nodded. "She has access to Sara's phone, and we recognized the pictures of us at a party. Erika took those, and she was tagged at the photographers dinner."
"How's Sara handling it?"
"She's hurt, and feels violated. She doesn't understand why she would do this. It isn't a money issue, she's helped her and her family with money. I just don't understand why she would betray her like that."
"Well they live together? How is that going to work."
Justin shrugged. "She is going to have a legal team draw up a NDA and some other stuff. We can't trust her, she's going to go to the press no matter what we say and try to spin the narrative."
"And how are you dealing with this? I know you are so concerned about your privacy."
"I love Sara, and we are a team. Our relationship isn't a secret, but it's going to be private. We aren't going to be posting each other constantly. Little glimpses and stuff." Justin smiled as he thought about what he and Sara talked about. "Sort of like a Taylor swift and Joe Alwyn thing."
Mike smiled. "I know nothing about that, but I'm glad you figured everything out. You guys work so well together."
There was silence for a bit until Mike spoke again. "I'm sorry, I have to ask, what is going to happen with Taylor? She's been at the stadium asking questions."
Justin rolled his eyes. He went into the whole story about Taylor lying to Sara and the pictures she used. Mike was in awe. "Wow, I knew she was insane, but to go that far."
"I don't even know what I should even say to her. I don't want her around me and especially Sara. But she works for the damn network. I'm going to have to deal with her once camp starts."
Justin pondered over his options and talked with Mike about upcoming workouts and team meetings. The fact that Kansas City won the superbowl just made the team more determined.
Mike and Justin pulled up to his place in Irvine. It was nice to be home, it would be even nicer if his girlfriend agreed to move in with him. She hadn't given him a sure answer yet.
Once Mike left, he walked around imagining all of the feminine touches Sara would bring to his place. He looked over at the cat wheel that Nova got for Christmas. He texted Pat that he was home and was free to fly out with Carly and bring Nova home. He remembered she also got a Bengal cat; he wasn't sure how Nova would react to Eugene. Maybe in some way the name of the cat was a sign that they were always meant to be.
As he walked around the almost empty house, he made a list of food and household essentials he needed. He was almost gone for a month and a half and he needed a lot of things. Also he wanted to prepare for Sara's arrival. As he went through his closet to grab his laundry basket he found the calander she made him. He grabbed and began looking through it. When they broke up he forgot to give it back, and he didn't just want to throw it out in case it landed in the wrong hands. He wasn't that much of an ass.
He found himself getting hard as he flipped through it, and as much as he wanted to give into his desires, he wanted to wait until he had the real thing.
He got out his phone and messaged her
I'm home, found your calendar.
A few seconds later he heard a ding
I'm glad you have it. I have a gyno appointment tomorrow. I'm going on the shot. It takes two weeks
He groaned. I'm about to say fuck it and risk our chances. I'm going to get you pregnant one day.
Lmfaooo. One DAY. Right now it's fuck them kids.
A photo was attached and he opened it expecting a sexy image. But instead it was a selfie with spit up on her shirt.
Wow that killed the mood 😂 let me guess Kenzie with her reflux?
Yes, lucky she's turning one tomorrow and she's cute.
He laughed. He couldn't deny seeing Sara interact with her nieces and nephew's got him in major baby fever. Justin remembered the dream he had very early on in their relationship. He had a wedding band on his finger and she had a band with a swollen belly. Fuck
Patrick texted that he and Carly would be in the next morning with Nova in tow. On that note he decided to call it an early evening and just watch some television. He could do all of his errands tomorrow.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sara wasn't sure whether she wanted to scream or cry.
She was facetiming Erika who didn't have the slightest idea of her best friend's knowledge of her betrayal. The red head updated her on the cat, some dates she went on.
"I'm glad Erika. So I should be in town next week." Her friend's smile dropped. "With Justin?"
"Well he's in Los Angeles already so no." She knew what Erika meant, she didn't want to say it out loud.
"But you guys are back together?"
"We're working on it." Erika rolled her eyes. "Seriously? What about Harry?"
"Ill talk to him when I get back. But I don't think he's too upset. He was making out with Emily Ratajkowski. That's not a guy serious about getting married."
"Well you can't keep him waiting forever." Sara wanted to scream. Why because you need to report back to Jack?
"Look, I'll take care of him when I get back. Just keep doing what you are doing. I'll be back next week."
"Okay. Hey, maybe we can have a spa day. AnnSophie will be back in town, and you have some break before Filming the show starts."
Sara nodded. "Yes I will see if I can fit it in." She hung up on Erika. If she stayed on the phone any longer guaranteed there would be a fight, and she wanted to confront her face to face and not alone.
She tried to push the thoughts out of her head. She had to help Alyssa prepare for Kenzie's small first birthday. This was due to Mike and being careful that he didn't get sick. Same with Charlie, Mike and Sara were only attending the family party, but not for the party with school friends. She did it last year and had to leave, as all of the parents kept coming up to her and asking for autographs and photos.
She was tasked with picking up the cake and some last minute decorations. They had to switch to some healthier options for food since their dad came home. It was funny, of all things he was upset about food was the last thing they thought would cause a problem. Granted, their dad drank and smoked Cigars, but he enjoyed a home cooked meal, and her mother always sent him leftovers which were mostly healthy options.
She ran all of the requested errands and drove back to her sister and Brother in law's Pennsylvania home. Upon arriving she saw Ryan and Michelle, as well as Brent's parents. After giving them greetings Mrs. Smith spoke. "Oh hunny, is it true you have a man in your life? Alyssa told me you are seeing a fine young man."
Sara smiled. "The rumors are true. I'm seeing someone." Mrs. Smith pulled her into a big hug. "Oh that's wonderful! Is he still here?"
"No, he had to go back to Los Angeles."
Pretty soon everyone's attention was on setting the decorations up so Alyssa didn't have to stress herself out the next day. As Sara was working on the Balloon arch Michelle came up to her. "Need help with that?"
Sara laughed. "Please. I should have just paid for someone to set this up." Michelle laughed as she started to help blowing up the pink balloons on the machine. Once she finished five she looked at Sara. "How many do we have to blow up?"
Standing on the ladder working on the arch, she looked around. "Well I did fifteen so far and with your five. It looks like we got about fifty more at least." Michelle groaned and Sara laughed. "Yeah when Justin and I have kids, remind me not to do this, no matter how cute the final product looks."
Michelle paused, thinking of what her sister in law just said. "So you think this is it?"
Sara stopped assorting the colors and looked down at Michelle. "What do you mean?"
"I mean you've never talked about having kids before. You said you wanted them before but you never brought up a name with it." Michelle smiled, and Sara matched it. "Yeah, I know this is crazy, I mean god we haven't even been together for a full year but I'm in love with him. It's just a feeling I've never felt before. The first thing I want to see when I wake up is his face, or hear his voice. When he calls me baby it's just the greatest thing. I know we had a bump but I feel sure that he feels the same way about me."
"I was talking to George and Brent. Brent really likes Justin. He's very protective of you, since he views you as a sister." Sara playfully rolled her eyes. "Well he is the pain in the ass older brother that I never had." Michelle laughed before speaking.
"We are all so happy for you Sara, you deserve it. There is nothing more beautiful than seeing someone unlucky in love finally being loved by the right person." Sara had tears come to her eyes. "Stop, I'm gonna cry." They giggled. "So I have to ask. Is this the end of all of the endings?"
Sara laughed at the Swift song reference. Sara thought about it, but not for long.
"Yes it is."
—----‐—-----------------------------------------------------------
"Taylor!"
The blonde reporter turned around and lit up when she saw the tall quarterback; however she quickly realized that he wasn't approaching her with good intentions. With his long strides he was caught up to her in no time. "We need to talk."
"You can come into my office." They went silently into a private room where she closed the door. Turning towards him, she maintained her smile. "Hi! How is your off-season going?"
He didn't meet her smile. "What did you say to Sara?" He knew, but he wanted to hear it from her mouth, and wanted to see if she'd lie.
Of course she chose the latter. "What are you talking about?"
"I know you ran into her, and I know what you said. Why on earth would you lie about that?"
She turned her back towards him and didn't say anything for several seconds. "Why her?"
He was confused, not expecting that response. "Huh?"
She turned towards him. "The entire time we were together you were so adamant about us being secretive. Hell when someone posted they saw us out you freaked out and didn't talk to me for a week. You stood me up at the airport because it looked too crowded. Now this girl you've been seeing less than a year comes along and you're all about flaunting this relationship? Why wasn't I good enough?"
Justin understood what she meant. He acknowledged that he wasn't the greatest partner, and even though he and Taylor were just hooking up, there were moments where he acted and treated her like shit. He sighed. "I'm sorry, I know that I wasn't the greatest person to you, and for that I regret. But Sara… I'm in love with her, and I should have told you about her when things started to get serious. I'm not flaunting this relationship. I'm just being normal for the first time in my life."
"But again. Why her? She's the total opposite of you. She isn't going to stop her career for you. You guys are going to be Tom and Gisele 2.0"
He shook his head. "I don't need to explain anything to you. What you did was wrong and uncalled for. I don't understand how you thought that was going to benefit you, you do realize me or Sara could have gotten you fired!"
Taylor shook her head. "So that's it? You love her." Justin nodded. Taylor rolled her eyes and opened the door. "Get out."
He walked out the door but he turned to look at her. "I hope that we can be professional."
She waved her hand "yeah, you're not worth my career." He went to leave again.
"Justin?"
"Yes?"
"When you and Sara fail. Don't come looking for me, cause I won't be here." She shut the door
He laughed

"What do you mean it's going to be another week before i see you?" Justin groaned. He was in bed with Nova while on the phone with Sara. Her flight was supposed to arrive the next day. He was looking forward to seeing her after a week but now she had other plans.
She told him that her manager needed her to make a couple of appearances in New York and Vegas. Selena Gomez was hosting a party for some product launch, then Bella was having an event for her drink, then she was filming an episode of hot ones.
Basically it would be another week before he saw her.
"I'm not happy about it either. I promise I'll take the first private flight home once filming has wrapped up, then I have a whole month off before the show starts filming. I'm all yours."
"We are not leaving my bedroom for days when you get here." He heard her giggle at that. "I'm serious."
"I know you are, baby. Trust me I'm going to need it."
It was silent before Justin spoke. "Is Erika going to be with you?"
"No, she's still at my house. I don't trust myself to not say something, and I don't need an issue."
"So you're going to confront her when you get home?"
She nodded, then realized that he couldn't see her over the phone. "Yes. I don't even know what to say to her. I'm getting nervous to the point of a panic attack just thinking about it."
"Hey hey hey." He witnessed her have a panic attack once, and it hurt him to see her go through that. "Listen, we will do this together. I'll be there when you do."
"I needed that."

"Sara! I'm so glad you came!" Selena hugged her and greeted Alex. They had just arrived at the hotel only hours after getting off the plane to the big apple. Sara was immediately rushed into hair and makeup. Her team made a tiktok of her getting ready with rare beauty products and of course Sara was dubbed as a 'Queen' for being team Selena and there was excitement that she would be there.
Sara had a fun time, she met and took photos and videos with influencers and fans. It was the end of the night and her social battery was fading. She was having a glass of champagne with a couple of social media stars. To be honest, she didn't really view them as stars. They really didn't have any talents, or really worked hard or faced rejection. They were just pretty and turned on a camera. She felt bad saying that, but so far while some were nice, the ones she was speaking to gave off a bad, fake vibe.
"So Sara, what can you tell us about this upcoming season?" One of the guys said. All eyes turned to her, eager to see if she would reveal any spoilers.
She thought about it for a moment, wanting to give fans something, but not trying to reveal too much. Finally she said, with a sly smile on her face "Just expect the unexpected."
They all groaned, knowing that was all they were going to get from the star. The event ended at around midnight, and Sara and Selena went to a really late dinner to catch up on things. They spoke about their relationships and the drama with the Jenners and Kardashians. It was nice catching up with her, but eventually Sara had to leave to catch another flight to Vegas for Bella's party. AnnSophie was going to be there as well as Samira, so at least she wouldn't only know one person.
She was messaging Justin back and forth the next day. She was again back in hair and makeup with her friends before the car came. AnnSophie and Bella were filling her in on the Met Gala. "I wish you were there. It was so much fun." Sara wished that she could have attended the first Met, but her family was more important. "Yes, but there is always next year."
"Don't let Anna hear that. This is a prestigious event. If she heard you say that, you would probably be banned from attending." Sara had to roll her eyes at that. It was funny, when she was younger it was all about the exposure and trying to attend all of these high profile events. Now she didn't care, she just wanted to act and be left alone.
They took silly photos and tik tok videos before heading down to the car to go to the party. Outside there were paps everywhere. Kendall Jenner was there and Sara rolled her eyes, it was no secret that the tall model would go out of her way to be nasty to her. Kendall even tried to throw shade at Sara on instagram a few years ago. No one pointed it out until Kylie got dragged for the whole Selena fiasco.
"Sara!" She turned towards the voice and her eyebrows lifted in surprise as she saw the woman in question heading towards her. Photographers clicked away as Kendall threw her arms around her. She was sure the photographers caught her being stunned at the action. Surely it was going to be a hot topic the next day. "How are you? It's so nice to see you!"
As much as Sara wanted to say something nasty to Kendall, she didn't want to cause a fight at her best friend's party so she remained neutral. "I'm doing well, how about yourself?"
Kendall smiled. "Oh good, you know I've been preoccupied with Benito." The way she couldn't even pronounce the Spanish name. "Oh it's been so long since we caught up! Next time we are in town, you and Justin should double date with us!"
Sara smiled tightly. "Yeah, we will see. Our schedules are both busy."
"Sara!" She turned her head to see AnnSophie waving her down. "Oh look I got to go. It was nice talking with you!" She quickly walked away and joined her friends, who had a questioning look on their faces. She explained the story and everyone had the same conclusion. She was doing it to save face in the public eye. It was no secret that their reputation  took a nosedive.
Once again, she found herself at a really late dinner with Bella after everything wrapped up. They were filling each other in on everything that happened in each other's lives. When Sara was done telling Bella about everything that happened with Justin she saw a smile on her friends face.
"Sara, I'm so happy for you. I'll admit that I had a lot of doubts about Justin. But he really grew up, and he did grow on me. He's not a stone cold Herman munster like I originally said." Sara snorted, remembering the first time the model gave him the moniker. "He really does love you, and that's all I ask from him, and that he doesn't hurt you again, otherwise I can't promise I wouldn't kick his ass."
Sara laughed. "I'm trying to imagine you taking him." Bella laughed. "Hey we kickbox you know. Also I'd enlist Gigi and AnnSophie."
Sara giggled again. "Yeah he could enlist Bosa and we'd be all fucked" Bella smiled into her drink. "Yeah but that Bosa wants to fight AnnSophie another way if you catch my drift." Sara nearly spit out her drink and the girls both combusted in a fit of giggles. "Hey If I'm ever single can you hook me up with Garoppolo?"
Sara rolled her eyes. "Oh please."
—--------------------------------------------------------------------
For some reason, it was like the universe hated Justin and Sara.
By the time she got back to Los Angeles he was gone in Eugene. He had a wedding to attend that he totally forgot about. He felt bad because it was one of his closest friends, after the wedding he had to be on a plane to New Jersey to attend a signing at a sporting expo with Derwin.
She got off the plane, not telling Erika that she was back home, however her best friend and employee wasn't  stupid. The show was starting pre production and there were meetings. Sara spent her time at Justin's house rehearsing her lines, or went over to her co-star's house.
Finally after a week, she knew it was time to face the music. AnnSophie volunteered to be with her. Joey was back in Fort Lauderdale for a few weeks and Lexi's dad finally made time in his "super busy" calendar to spend time with his child.
As they pulled up to her house, AnnSophie could tell Sara was nervous. Her breath and her hands were so shaky she couldn't even drive. Grabbing her hand she rubbed it, hoping to calm her down a little bit. "Hey, it's going to be okay. She will know she is in the wrong." She nodded. "I just wish Justin was here, but I can't avoid her forever.  We've closed the chapters of our pasts. I need to close this one."
They both got out of the car, each grabbing one of Sara's bags. Taking one last deep breath they entered the house. Eugene ran towards them, and despite Sara's hurt and anger she couldn't help but melt at the sight of the gray Bengal.  "Hi baby." She cooed as she picked him up, pecking his face with kisses and she cuddled him. "I missed you so much. I'm sorry mommy had to leave you." She looked around while still carrying the cat. She turned towards the blonde supermodel. "She's not here." She took a deep breath, relieved that she still had some time to prepare a speech.
As she put everything away she messaged her sisters. They knew what was going on, and even unfriended Erika on all the platforms, surprisingly she never mentioned it on the phone.
Once she was done and clothes were in the washer she heard AnnSophie call her name. Walking over to her friend's voice in the kitchen she found AnnSophie starring with her mouth open in shock. Erika's work laptop that Sara bought her was open. That must have meant she ran out for a quick errand or food. She never left it open and unattended.
It happened in slow motion, AnnSophie turned the laptop around to face her. The first thing she saw was a document.
It was a medical document.
It was a record of a hospitalization
Sara's hospitalization in 2011 of her attempt.
A/N: Alright, just a smidge of drama one last time! Getting down to final chapters! Thank you to everyone who messaged me and read and stayed with me
