I remember scrolling MK reddit and a post basically asked why Bi-Han let Sareeena live and consensus was basically Bi-Han thinking with his lower head and feeling bad for her, though a lot of people leaned towards Bi-Han being horny unironically and sparing her because he thought she was pretty and because he didn't seem her a threat.
Like lmao, I get Bi-Han is not socialized that great and I can see where people are coming from but I'm hoping he's not that shallow lol.
Nah, Bi-Han is not that shallow. The man does not comment on women's beauty - or anyone’s for that matter, the way the clearly horny characters do, like Johnny, Erron or Kano. His intro dialogues also has no sexually creepy undertones, the way Kano and Mileena sometimes imply things. So I think it is safe to assume that Bi-Han in general is not a sexually driven type of person.
It would help a lot if the game or tie-in material gives us more direct reasoning for his action, however even the provided basic knowledge allow us to see the main difference between Scorpion and Sareena and it’s not about gender (though that may play some secondary role), but the fact that Hanzo, presumably, wanted to kill Sub-Zero, not for rivalry over the Map but because he was a Lin Kuei, an sworn enemy of Shirai Ryu clan, while Sareena was doing just her duty - following Quan Chi’s orders and there was nothing personal about their fight. So in a sense, Bi-Han could feel some kinship with the woman even despite her attempt at stopping his effort to save Earthrealm and trying to kill him, because he understood well what it means to serve merciless masters, as he himself, no matter how praised, was ultimately just a tool in Grandmaster’s schemes. Sareena has never been anything other than another obstacle in his path to beat down Quan Chi and steal the amulet back, so I can see why murdering her could feel pointless as it didn't serve any real goal of his.
Hanzo on other hand was tipped by Quan Chi about Sub-Zero’s mission - something the sorcerer did not deny at all
Quan Chi: Greetings, I see the ninja has been successful in retrieving my map... as I have forseen.  Sub-Zero: Let's get something straight... I am not a ninja. I am Lin Kuei. Scorpion was a ninja!  Quan Chi: Ah yes, your Japanese counterpart. It's unfortunate that you happened upon him in your battle with the pesky Shaolin monks.  Sub-Zero: Scorpion was tipped off... he knew I was breaking into that temple, and if he weren't there - there wouldn't have been a battle! You are responsible for this sorcerer!
and as the game shows, Scorpion managed to get inside the Shaolin Monks Temple before Lin Kuei. But instead of quietly stealing the man and getting the hell out of the place while his rival was busy fighting Shaolin Monks, Scorpion literally was introduced as a man who mocked and provoked Sub-Zero  (“You will fail. Hahahaha”) and challenged him to fight over the Map ("The map is mine Sub-Zero. Fight!").
When the both men met again in Netherrealm, Hanzo accused Bi-Han for killing him in cold blood to which Bi-Han responded he had no choice.
Warrior: I am a dead man. But somehow you have retained your mortality, which would mean you are vulnerable to death.  Sub-Zero: Wait... I know your voice.  Scorpion: Yessss... I am Scorpion. You killed me in cold blood.  Sub-Zero: I had no choice. If I had not stolen that map I would be the dead one.
Maybe Sub-Zero did not trust Scorpion to not attack him again as he did not believe Shirai Ryu would respect the act of mercy. Maybe he figured out he must kill his sworn-enemy, because Lin Kuei tradition demanded that and if Grandmaster learned about Sub-Zero sparing Scorpion’s life, he would be severely punished. Whatever was the reason, Bi-Han took no pride in killing Shirai Ryu, as he did not boast about that. When returning to Lin Kuei Temple, Bi-Han greeted the leader with “Grandmaster, in honor of the Lin Kuei, I bring you this sacred Map of Elements.” but there was no as a bonus, I also killed the filthy Shirai Ryu dog. Instead, he was clearly angry at Quan Chi for creating the whole situation in the first place by hiring the second assassin of the enemy clan (“[Scorpion] knew I was breaking into that temple, and if he weren't there - there wouldn't have been a battle! You are responsible for this sorcerer!).
So to my understanding, killing Hanzo was dictated by unfavorable circumstances and long-termed enmity between Shirai Ryu and Lin Kuei clans that forced Bi-Han’s hand while Sareena was just a demoness doing her job the same way as he was doing his. Frankly, Fujin too was not killed by Bi-Han, nor I don’t think sources implied he attempted to murder any Gods of Elements or Shaolin Monks on purpose - otherwise I think Raiden would be much more angry at the Lin Kuei assassin. Or at least mentioned that, in similar fashion to intro dialogue in which Liu Kang said "The Shaolin's losses have left many angry" to past!Scorpion, who took part in murdering Shaolin Monks in MK11.
Also, when Sareena came to aid Bi-Han in his fight against Quan Chi, Sub-Zero was understandably surprised by demoness’ action:
Sub-Zero: Why did you help me?  Sareena: You are still mortal... that means you can escape the Netherealm.  Sub-Zero: There won't be anywhere to go if I don't get the amulet back.  Sareena: Take me with you... I've waited an eternity to escape.  Sub-Zero: You don't understand. I can't leave without the...
but there is literally zero implication he finds Sareena sexy or hot or trying to pull the card “I spared your life so you own me” to get a “reward” from her. I repeat, a relatively sexy/beautiful lady just asked Sub-Zero to take her with him and Bi-Han’s mind was solely on the mission - getting back the amulet before Shinnok destroys his realm.
Dunno about you all, but that interaction for me doesn’t sound like Bi-Han was thinking with his dick or in any way ever was smitten by Sareena’s beauty; he was a man on a mission and there is a chance he may be just more merciful than people want to give him a credit for.
The last one brings me back to MK9, in which I still think Bi-Han's head gesture was a voiceless support for Johnny to not kill Baraka, the same way Raiden did for Cyrax. He may not have any love for strangers, he may mock Hanzo, but I don't think he is the cold killer that takes pleasure in killing like some characters do.

Oh no, I’m participating in Star Wars discourse.
Uh, so there’s a post floating around that I’m not reblogging mainly because it’s just this person’s headcanon and, whatever, people can have headcanons, but the main points they make in the midst of talking about their headcanon that I’ll be addressing are:
Leia and Han getting married and having kids is the most boring thing you can do with Leia
Leia should be a Jedi like every other dang Skywalker because somehow continuing an assumed dynasty isn’t the most boring choice you can make for her
Leia is more cut out to handle lack of attachment than Luke which we know because of her lack of response to Alderaan being destroyed
Leia and Han shouldn’t get married or even be around each other much because Han is a wandering soul and needs to travel and go places
Leia never expresses a desire for marriage or children in the OT, so removing these things won’t contradict George Lucas’ canon
And, look, these are just…missing the point of the character growth that occurs in these two during the OT.
(there's just a whole-ass essay below the cut if anyone cares to read about the many thoughts I have on Leia Organa and Han Solo.)
So, I'm not saying existing or past canon/EU has done it right, but I disagree with the statement that having them marry and live kind of basic lives is the most boring choice. If that's all there was to it, sure, but those two choices by themselves show a monumental amount of character growth for both Leia and Han. (I mean, frankly, I think "Skywalker = Jedi every time no matter what" is a pretty boring choice storytelling wise, but I also think the Jedi on the whole are incredibly boring characters, so, uh...I'm biased.)
Leia was never going to live a quiet life even if Alderaan hadn't been destroyed. Like, she did not have that option, period. She would have either remained in politics or taken over as queen, may or may not have had to marry for political reasons, and may or may not have been involved with the Rebellion. Her life was chaos starting as a teen and she had no reason to believe she wouldn't die living a hectic and chaotic life.
And then she loses everything. This isn't emphasized in the movies obviously because they are fun family romps and not gritty dramas, but, good night, in a single second, she loses every family member, nearly every person she knows, every place she finds most familiar and comfortable, everything and to top it all off, the guilt that it's happened because of her unwillingness to give up the Alliance will probably always be there. She was tortured, they lost lives in battle, and, yeah, they destroy the Death Star, but at the end of that day, literally all she has left is the Alliance and those three pilots who managed to unlock her cell door without too much trouble.
I don't know about you, but I'd be straight-up shut down emotionally at that point. Like, I don't think PTSD even covers what Leia probably has going on in her head. And I think that's kind of what we see in ESB (I know the filmmakers weren’t thinking in terms of PTSD, but there are still hints of it there regardless). She's angry, she's afraid of losing people (she's obviously pissed Han is leaving after he said he'd stay, but also, there's a scene that was cut -- a good move in my opinion because the dialogue is beyond dramatic and Carrie seems out of it, but it stands that this was the intended source of Leia’s frustration -- where Luke is telling Leia he's leaving the Alliance for Dagobah and she is extremely upset that both he and Han are leaving, goes on a whole rant about how she should know better than to trust anyone but herself, etc.), and when she finally lets Han in, she promptly loses him and nearly loses Luke.
And then the events of ROTJ happen and she finds out that the man who tortured her, who stood idly by while her entire planet was destroyed, who tortured the man she loves and handed him off to the space mob to be murdered, who cut off her brother's hand and nearly allowed him to die, who has terrorized the Galaxy in general, that guy is her bio dad. And that guy is the entire reason she's Force-sensitive.
Leia stopping her Jedi training in the new canon was for a dumb reason, I agree there. Leia not wanting anything to do with the thing that, from her point of view, nearly ruined her life and the lives of those she loves about a thousand times over...I dunno, I think that's way more interesting than her just going, "Ope, I'm a Skywalker! You know what that means! Gotta be a Jedi!" And as far as her being more of a natural at it...do we know that Leia is better at healthy non-attachment than Luke? Like, any response to a planet being destroyed could easily just be a trauma response. Is shutting down like that good, actually? Or is it just going to cause problems down the road, Anakin-style?
I don't know, I just think that after living through all of that as well as a freaking war, girly might want a quiet life -- that she gets to choose -- with a husband -- who she gets to choose -- and kids -- who she gets to raise without the threat of the Empire or her nightmare of a biological father looming over their lives. And the very fact that she's able to open herself up to that sort of love and affection when the fear that it might all be ripped away from her is likely ever-present is a big deal. Her having kids knowing they'll likely be Force-sensitive even though that aspect of her biology terrifies her is a big deal. And as far as her not expressing a desire for marriage and kids in the OT...I mean, Leia isn't given the opportunity to express her desire for much in the OT, let's be real (she also never expresses a desire to become a Jedi in the OT either. We can't use what Leia didn't express in the OT to dictate whether she wants or doesn't want something is what I'm saying). They're at war. She's a military leader. She probably can't even hazard wishing for anything beyond waking up the next day. But that's not to say she didn't want such things or grow to want such things once she felt it was safe to do so. We literally don't know, but I don't think the absence of that expressed desire is indicative of anything.
As far as Han goes, I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure in every iteration of his story, his itchy feet weren't like...a part of his personality. He had a highly traumatic childhood that left him with few options and ended up living a transient lifestyle out of necessity. He actually seems remarkably easy to keep around if you don't treat him like garbage. I mean, he's given exactly one day of friendship, and he sticks around with the Rebellion for three years before some run-in with a bounty hunter makes him realize he needs to take care of his debt with Jabba. He's not leaving just for funsies or because he's bored or just really needs to be a smuggler again...and he seems legitimately sad have to leave when he's not busy getting pissed at Leia for not having the emotional response he wants her to have (first half of ESB Han is being a big ol' baby and I'm perfectly fine admitting that). And what character growth to see Han "I'm in it for the money" Solo learn to care for his friends, learn to support a cause, learn to love Leia when he's spent so much of his life unattached. Han making boring life choices is indicative of character growth and learning to care about others more than himself. What a lovely thing for this man to learn.
The call for Leia and Han to remain living separate lives but still committed to one another kind of demands that they move backward in character growth in my opinion. We have two people who are in rough places due, by and large, to trauma, who eventually open up to one another and seem better for it and then they...just go back to what they were doing before except they occasionally see each other? Why would they want that? They've grown as people, they've won a dang war, and they're finally able to live somewhat securely. Why wouldn't they want to live basic lives when they were denied the privilege of such choices for so long? And how is them making choices based on their love for another person — love that they had a heck of a time coming to terms with — boring?

you know for ostensibly a delirium fan blog, i end up talking disproportionally about dream and desire, so lets even those scales a little, because there's plenty interesting to talk about with my girl
and one thing that i think is really important to delirium's characterisation is that she is not a child
she's impulsive, yes. she can be absent minded, she enjoys playing, and has little care about being perceived as weird. she struggles to communicate her thoughts in a 'normal' way, all things common amongst various neurodivergences. but she's extremely aware of her surroundings, and her realm is home to every fucked up thought anyone's ever had, she's in no way naive (like look at how many of her ramblings involve sex or death or other things that would be censored in kids media)
the very first time we meet delirium in the comics, we get this bit of narration, which has stuck in my head since i read it
Tumblr media
because that battle between who delirium is and who people see her as is fascinating to me
she's older than every being that's ever lived, mortal or not, bar 8 (her siblings and her parents)
and celestial bodies are also people in this universe, they're all younger than her too, she's watched the stars grow up
she is the 9th oldest being ever
but we see so much of this story through the eyes of the other endless, and they don't think of her as the 9th eldest being in existence. they think of her as their baby sister
some more than others. i think destruction was one of the people most willing to see her as she actually is. and while i'm not sure if dream is always on the list of good siblings here (he has a tendency to be condescending), someone commented on my post about a dream and delirium scene that despite delirium making no sense, dream doesn't talk down to her
he may not see her as on his level (he does, after all, agree to go with delirium at first because he assumes it's something she'll get bored of and forget about eventually, he doesn't expect her to be right), but dream at least has an abstract enough domain that he sees through her words to the meaning behind them, and he respects her way of communicating
but with most of her siblings, it's a fight to be taken seriously, and we do see a few moments where she's angry enough to remind them she's their equal
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and i love her so much as neurodivergent representation, because how many of us have had to deal with the whole adult physically child mentally thing? oh they're mentally a 5 year old, no, they're mentally an adult, they just think differently to you. and i love del for the fact that she doesn't let certain things being 'childish' stop her from doing them if they feel right, she doesn't let anyone else make her hide things about herself. but also she stands up for herself and reminds her siblings that she knows more than any of them.
and she does, she's the only endless who's been through a change like that. she sees so much more than they do, and just because she can't always communicate it doesn't mean she doesn't understand
her realm is described as the easiest for people to reach, the closest to humanity (but one of the hardest to leave). death gets all the credit for spending the most time with humanity, not distancing herself from that like the other endless, but neither does delirium. del was perhaps the first to figure out what it was the endless were missing. just because her mind is in pieces doesn't mean she isn't whole
(the best characterisations of del in fics will always be the ones that remember her dialogue isn't just random rambling, the rambling has to come hand in hand with extremely perceptive observations of the people around her)
(she's the one of the few people who can make dream speechless in her analysis of his issues)
Tumblr media
and yes, her physical presentation is younger than that of her siblings. but she doesn't present as a child, she hasn't since she was delight, she presents as a teenager
because what other physical form perfectly represents that frustration to be seen as the adult you know you are in your head when everyone in your life can only see you as a child?

I'll say it, I really liked Field of Revenge especially from a villain perspective. Cause for one, it's a heartbreaking chapter/battle especially if you're BL fan (granted you can mitigate that by recruiting but let's assume you don't). And second, it shows Supreme Leader at her probably most villainous with her emotional warfare i.e victim blaming, and basically deciding to spare no one. The King of Delusion scene is infuriating but in a "omg, she's dastardly" way.
Oh!
Yeah, I loved it because even if this was the first route I played, I was left with the impression that bar "wow am I supposed to know those characters?" the map conveyed what the narration had been hammering - no matter what, Supreme Leader and pals will break through to reach their goals, even if it means killing named characters I'm supposed to be sad about.
After playing the other routes -
It's again even more wonderful, because we have the "uwu don't want to kill her uwu" options in dialogues, but when it's her turn to apparently get this option, we have "Dimitri must die" and all of his generals with him (iirc this is a rout mission?).
"no u" also lampshades how Dimitri tries to understand why the frick he is being invaded, and why this war is happening, and just why the fuck he has to fight - but Supreme Leader doesn't bother explaining anything to him. Even when he is on his knees, she beheads him, after asking Hubert to give her an onion to get a few tears and goes "if only we were born in a world of peace" when, uh, she just beheaded him a few seconds ago when he was at her mercy, and specifically ordered at the beginning of the map to kill him.
Even Rhea, who is PTSD'ing hard (she brought back Seiros the Warrior's costume!) comes to regret having to fight like this - of course not because Supreme Leader's character, but because she's Willy's scion - but Supreme Leader dgaf, gives a Supreme Reply (tm) and off with her head (ah wait, it's in the next chapter).
Her interactions in this chapter are great, we play through the tonal dissonance - which is why Supreme Leader, only when everyone is dead (and Rhea retreated), contemplates the futility of Dimitri's death, blaming it on Uncle and how she wished things could have turned out differently...
Just after playing a chapter where she ignores and/or straight out refuses to be plays a different script than the one she gave at the beginning.
That's what I find fascinating and like about her character, she can say X to her "trusted" ones in private, but say Y in public - even if we all know, since we were privy to the "private" exchange that she wants to do X.
This is again shown in the next chapter - to Billy, Supreme Leader says she wants to obliterate Nabateans - but when her army is all around, she asks Rhea to surrender.
Is it only for PR? Is it to gain Billy's trust? Is she ever telling the "truthful truth" of what she wants to anyone (save for Hubert)?
IIRC some people made more detailled posts on the safflower (the flower of CF?) but I don't remember them that well.
Tl; dr : that chapter rocks.

An Unnecessarily Detailed Analysis of the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Trailer
(I know I have a couple asks to reply to, but I gotta do this!)
As Tumblr's limited to 10 images per post, I'll be keeping screenshots to that level. Taken by me because I don't know how to make gifs.
This post will be NWH-spoiler free.
First shot: We get voiceovers from both Wong and Stephen with dialogue from the No Way Home trailers about a dangerous spell and the multiverse being a concept "on which we know frightening little". As they speak, a few lit candles on what appears to be the ground (Kamar-Taj perhaps) are blown out by a gust of wind.
Second shot: A cinematographer earns his stripes by catching Stephen's reflection in his broken watch (a gift from Christine from the first film). Possibly CGI, but crossing fingers it's just an amazing shot.
Tumblr media
Third shot: Mordo's voiceover says, "Your desecration of reality will not go unpunished" as Stephen walks out of the back alley beside the Sanctum to see New York's streets looking like something out of the Mirror Dimension (only he's not in the Mirror Dimension). Perhaps more importantly, the Cloak has a large rip or a patch?! What monster hurt the Cloak? (I can't decide if the blue is a patch or the back of Stephen's outfit. Thoughts?)
Tumblr media
Extra Thoughts: Mordo's likely referring to the Snap and Stephen's part in that with his voiceover. Stephen's V.O. follow up with "It was the only way" supports this, assuming that the trailer is not trying to be misleading with the dialogue they've selected. But you know that's 50/50 with Marvel, hah.
Fourth shot: Stephen is walking up the main staircase in the foyer of the Sanctum. One of the side passages (usually covered up by a tapestry) is now an opening to a beach, only whoever placed the opening there put it way too close to the water and the nice foyer floor is entirely ruined by seawater. Stephen is just as perturbed by the architectural destruction.
Extra Thoughts: This is unlikely to be the Normal Sanctum but rather one of them strung throughout the multiverse. I'm banking on this shot, the previous shot, and the shots with collected detritus and a Not Quite Normal Strange all being the same Sanctum. More on that below.
Fifth shot: Stephen dramatically silhouetted against the Seal of Agamotto window. Possibly evil!Stephen as he lacks Cloak. Possibly an object floating above his hand causing the glow (explained below).
Sixth shot: Stephen looking down something on a New York City street that's obviously experiencing something bad (again). Likely same scene explained further below.
V.O. from Stephen over the last two shots: "But I never meant for any of this to happen."
Seventh shot: Dramatic Wanda red-power-in-hand shot. Dressed in normal clothes.
Eighth shot: Christine Palmer in a wedding dress. Hopefully this means that, as no longer being a love interest of the main character, she won't get killed in some fashion.
Ninth shot: Doctor Stephen Strange looking dapper af in a suit (with a touch of red handkerchief-- maybe transformed Cloak?) and IS THAT DOCTOR NIC WEST? If they don't have an exchange of dialogue in this film about what Stephen's doing these days, I'mma sue. Just a super powerful sorcerer attending a wedding with his old medical colleagues.
Tumblr media
Tenth shot: A raven or a crow (I'm no ornithologist) turns and squawks angrily at the camera. Apparently both of them can mean death in some cultures, and the crow's apparently tied to magic as well? Will leave someone with a bit more knowledge of birds to contribute here.
Eleventh shot: The back of America Chavez in what looks like Kamar-Taj, or at least somewhere mystical.
Twelfth shot: Wong holding his hands up with some sort of spell near them, roughed up from battle. Destruction behind him.
Thirteenth shot: One of America Chavez's star-shaped portals that can break through realities and some version of Stephen Strange falling through it.
Tumblr media
Fourteenth shot: Marvel "This Movie Is Gonna Make So Much Money" Studios logo. Multiverse-style.
Fifteenth shot: Longest scene in the trailer when Stephen finds Wanda in some sort of orchard and she mistakenly believes that he's there to scold her about Westview, when in reality he's there to ask for her help. His leading question into it: "What do you know about the multiverse?" Her look at him shows that she seems to know something, perhaps via the Darkhold (if you don't know what that is, I recommend watching WandaVision at some point). Also, he looks fine af in this scene.
Tumblr media
Sixteenth shot: Stephen, America, and (likely) Wanda open this metal hatch door to a place that definitely isn't natural. Also the Cloak is ripped/patched in this shot! Besides the Cloak, we've got broken pillars somewhere in the sky. On the structure in front of them as they open the door is a pedestal with a white glow. It's possibly the same white glow that we saw in the fifth shot. The room layout is not the same layout as the Eye of Agamotto room from the first Doctor Strange movie.
Seventeenth shot: Mordo, looking fine af with his new dreads and robes, says, "I'm sorry, Stephen."
Eighteenth shot: Stephen looking quite put out over something. Possibly same scene as above.
Mordo's voiceover continues over the next several shots:
Nineteenth shot: A nasty thick fog rolls over Kamar-Taj on an otherwise sunny day. Jeez, I wonder if that's natural. Shot cuts down to Wong and Stephen (both looking dapper af in their new outfits) in the courtyard, quickly realizing that fog usually doesn't work like that.
Twentieth shot: Wanda (also looking, yes, dapper af in her new outfit) sitting cross-legged, floating in a circle of candles. Cinematographer earned more stripes.
Twenty-first shot: Mordo and Stephen (sans Cloak) fighting. But Stephen is handcuffed with some high tech cuffs, which leads a lot of credence to that leaked concept art drawing from Twitter months ago. I won't spoil it here but if you're unaware of it and want to know, send me an ask and I'll reply! Mordo seems to cut them in half by accident at the end of the shot.
Tumblr media
Twenty-second shot: Several fireballs bursting through Kamar-Taj. More importantly, I THINK THAT'S FUCKING RINTRAH RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE. Large figure, greenish fur, horns. Tell me that's not a green minotaur in Kamar-Taj clothing?! LMAO I am delighted. Wong gets up from the destruction in what appears to be a part of this scene, as well.
Tumblr media
Twenty-third shot: In one of my other favorite scenes in the trailer, Stephen creating this sort of spell diagram that probably represents the multiverse and the pathways through it. What I adore about this diagram we see in the movie is that it looks exactly like the representations we have of the brain's neural network (just Google image search it and you'll see what I mean). It's perfect for the former neurosurgeon. Note that the Seal of Agamotto is broken and the room cluttered, so this is in likely an alternate reality version of the Sanctum.
Tumblr media
Twenty-fourth shot: America and Wong get to watch Stephen show off his new trick of making Eastern-styled dragons come out of his hands. It's definitely the MCU Stephen. I don't think his hands outright transformed though.
Twenty-fifth shot: Movie audiences are introduced to a rather minuscule showing of Shuma-Gorath, the Marvel Universe's Lovecraftian horror. He tends to vary in size based on power in the comics, so when he's really dangerous, he's about the size of Dormammu's head from the first film, if not bigger. Basically this version still seems pretty weak if we're basing it on size. Probably for the best; his full version could probably consume the planet without issue. Shuma-Gorath throws a bus, and Stephen protects America by cutting said bus in half with magic. Nice. Likely same scene as the sixth shot, or close to it.
Twenty-sixth shot: We see Stephen's hand as he descends a staircase. His beautiful, unblemished, unscarred hand. Hmmmmmmm.
Tumblr media
Twenty-seventh shot: MCU Stephen stands across the room from (likely) Unhinged, Possibly Evil Stephen. Likely the same Sanctum as the one with the broken Agamotto window due to the presence of the harp which is not something the original relic room has (I believe). Floor pattern's the same as well.
V.O. for the above scenes from nineteen to twenty-seven, via Mordo: "I hope you understand the greatest threat to our universe is you."
Twenty-eighth shot: We see Unhinged, Possibly Evil Stephen in all his full glory. He says, "Things just got out of hand" with a rather maniacal grin.
Tumblr media
Twenty-ninth shot: MCU Stephen makes that slow squint "WTF" expression. You know the one.
Thirtieth shot:

Friday Night Funkin: 11 Years Later (UPDATE)
Week 1 (Pump VS Skid)
(Before I begin, this is an au I posted awhile ago. But for some reason, I feel like this could be a mod one day. Well, I want it to be one, anyway. But I can't make a mod with the device I'm on so yeah-)
11 years ago, Lila ended up dying in a car accident, which resulted in Skid having to get adopted by another family. Luckily, he didn't move that far away though, and still got to see Pump every now and then. But there was a problem; while Pump seemed very affected by the loss of his only mother figure, Skid didnt. (Skid was just trying to act like nothing happened so he could be there for Pump)
Pump, misunderstanding Skid, quickly raged out on him. Pump then threw off his mask, threw it onto the street where a car ran over it, and ran off never to see Skid again.
Skid was very devastated by his friend leaving him obviously. But then his foster family decided to move to a new town, which leads us to the present. 11 years later.
Skid decides to return to his old town to learn how to become a rapper like his idol, The Boyfriend. After wondering around a bit, he finds a Mall he used to go to as a child with Pump. He finds a coffee shop inside the Mall, and decides to get some for himself.
However, a big surprise to him was that Pump worked there.
Of course he didnt know this at first, not exactly recognizing him since he was so used to him having the mask on all the time. But Pump, himself, managed to recognize that it was Skid. And quickly began to act salty towards him, making fun of him and his desire to be a rapper.
This gets Skid riled up, and makes him challenge Pump to a rap battle. Pump, being ever the dramatic man, legit slides off the counter like a model and pulls out a mic from legit nowhere. After a few lines of dialogue from him, the first song begins.
Pump, being ever condescending, sings Tutorial to Skid. (He thinks since he hasn't rapped in years, or at least that he knows of, he probably needs one.)
Pump is a little shocked and salty that Skid managed to get passed that, of course. But then Pump starts mocking Skid, and shit he used to say back then. Even the spooky month thing. Skid quickly defends himself, by saying Pump did it too. Pump lies though to make himself look better, saying he only did it because Skid wanted to.
They move on to the next song, Spookeez. But a bit of a remixed version.
Pump in his sprites appears to be mocking, and teasing Skid. And in a few, appears to be mocking the spooky dance.
Before the final song, Skid brings up the incident, trying to explain that Lila's death did effect him. But the second he mentions Lila, Pump immediately assumes he's trying to make him feel guilty and doesn't even let him talk. While he does seem angry, he does seem to be on the verge of tears as well.
The final song is South, but a really remixed version. Pump appears to be crying and screaming in his animation sprites. While Skid appears to be trying to speak to him, concerned for his ex friend.
The final dialogue is Pump venting on about how he felt during the incident, and how he felt betrayed when Skid acted like nothing was wrong. Skid gives him a big ol hug, and finally is able to explain his side of the story. This seems to calm Pump down a little, but he's still crying.
Pump apologizes to Skid, and Skid apologizes to Pump. While they aren't friends again yet, they don't seem to dislike eachother anymore.

On Omega's origins
I'm trying to make some posts on Omega so I don't lose track of what I think about the funny robot. :) What we know about Omega's planet:
It was in a war against the Dragonstar;
It considered Midgardsormr a threat;
It completely destroyed the Dragonstar;
It's presumably gone, having seen a Calamity.
I'll talk about each point. I believe there are already clues to what Omega's original planet is in the game.
1. It was in a war against the Dragonstar
Contrary to common belief, what happened in the Dragonstar was not that Omega alone randomly attacked it for no reason (or to get stronger) -- Omega and its planet were locked in an interplanetary war. We don't know why -- yet.
Midgardsormr: Foolish machine. What hast thou to show for all the years that have passed since the culmination of our war? Naught save thy continued existence. Hast thou no thought for what befalleth thy home star…?
2. It considered Midgardsormr a threat
Omega's objective was to kill Midgardsormr. Not to enslave, not to colonize the planet: to kill the Father of Dragons, paragon of wyrms, because it was a threat.
Omega: Prepare to face Midgardsormr--red-maned wyrm of the Dragonstar, and nemesis of my world.
3. It completely destroyed the Dragonstar.
"By thee and thine was my home laid waste". The Dragonstar as we see in Alphascape 2.0 seems devoid of life, aetherically unbalanced. If those are aether geysers, then something must have gone really wrong. Omega's planet didn't enslave the dragons or something like that -- they killed the Dragonstar itself.
Tumblr media
4. It's presumably gone, having seen a Calamity.
Let's get back to this piece of dialogue.
Midgardsormr: Foolish machine. What hast thou to show for all the years that have passed since the culmination of our war? Naught save thy continued existence. Hast thou no thought for what befalleth thy home star…?
What did befell Omega's home star, after all? Why does Midgardsormr knows of it and why does he uses it to try to provoke Omega? Could it be related to their war? Could Midgardsormr have been responsible for Omega's planet's destruction?
The answer probably lies in From the Heavens, Final Omega's theme.
youtube
Our shadows lost in light, this life A fleeting kiss Hark! Temptation rings! Virtue slips through hands a-clenching wicked fruit Passion festers, black’ning sinless souls to root Sink’neath dark waters Drink deep, we suffer Drowning, drowning, drowning, drowning Irons sundered Paradise plundered Come welcome this Come welcome this Destiny Virtue slips through hands a-clenching wicked fruit Passion festers, black’ning sinless souls to root Sickles grate on heaven’s gate their fields ignored Seeking sinners deathlessly they reap discord As two become one Here ends this, our journey Never-ending, onward march! Witness our escape This our escape, this our escape This our escape, this our escape This our escape, this our ascension
From the Heavens tells the story of a society falling to hubris, temptation and sin, their paradise destroyed. Isn't that familiar?
Still on From the Heavens, it's strange that the first sentence is "our shadows lost in light": ascian means literally shadowless -- this is why the Heroes' Gauntlet set is called the Shadowless set. Then, "[sink] 'neath dark waters" is literally Amaurot's theme.
youtube
So, is there any other evidence Omega could be an Ancient machine?
Lots of them.
1. Omega and the Ascians got similar designs: both heavily use black and silver, and gold and purple as accents (Omega has a purple undertone and Final Omega has gold accents).
2. Omega and the Ascians share abilities: creation magicks and interdimensional travelling. It's not because they're both unsundered beings: I can't remember dragons having creation magicks or travelling interdimensionally. Midgardsormr enters Omega's rift in his Big form at the cost of his life energy. It isn't something that he does naturally and with ease.
3. Omega and the Ascians share a neighborhood at the Aetherial Rift, which is where ascians hide when they need to.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. The Passionate Amaurotine NPC has weird dialogue about death-defying autonomous figures.
Passionate Amaurotine: Oh, did you want to ask me about my latest concept again? The autonomous figures I told you about before? They are utterly without feeling or fear, and will without hesitation or objection carry out their master's orders regardless of any injury or death they may suffer as a result. Truly magnificent, wouldn't you agree?
5. Both Amaurot the Dungeon and Omega quote the biblical Book of Revelation. This one may be the most important yet: the Final Days are akin to the christian Apocalypse as seen in the Book of Revelation. In the end of the Book of Revelation, Christ makes His Second Coming, saying:
12 Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
Meanwhile, Final Omega's dialogue in O12SP2 is:
Final Omega: Experiment concluded. I am the Alpha. I am the Omega. Final Omega: <blip> <bleeeeeep> Witness...my coming... I bring...reward...and retribution...for all!
The dialogue in Japanese makes it even clearer that Omega is quoting Revelation 22:12 and Revelation 22:13. I'll make a post on it later. Why would the Ancients develop a war machine like Omega? Weren't them pacifists? Everybody is a pacifist until eldtrich abominations start banging at your door!
Research Report on the Akadaemia Anyder: High-ranking phantomologists have since been dispatched to afflicted areas, where they conducted the capture and transport of a single entity. This specimen, characterized by a disproportionately large maw, was dubbed “Archaeotania,” and investigations into its aetheric composition are ongoing. A theory posited by the esteemed Lahabrea suggests that the shape these fiendish beings assume is not random, but rather an amalgamation of the fears which lurk beneath our rational minds. As of this writing, researchers have begun pursuing methods by which potent guardians of deliberate design might be engendered to stand against this mounting threat.
Emet-Selch says Zodiark was summoned to rewrite the laws of the star because they went haywire with the creation magicks going wild, not to halt the monsters themselves. The Ancients also took time to develop the concept of Zodiark. Something must have been keeping the monsters at bay while the Convocation worked, and as we see in the Passionate Amaurotine NPC, there is some precedent that the Amaurotines could develop a death-defying autonomous figure ready to sacrifice itself for its masters if needed. How does the Dragonstar War enters the scenario, then? First, let's go back to Archaeotania. Archaeotania is a dragon.
Tumblr media
It looks like a dragon-dinosaur mix, it attacks with Megaflare and Gigaflare, it has lots of Shinryu's -- who is a Midgardsormr-based primal -- attacks like Tidal Wave and Ice Boulder. Archaeotania, being one of the original fears that were birthed by creation magicks going haywire, must have been influenced by a dragon. Meanwhile, Omega ignores other primals on Hydaelyn but only bleeps and bloops when Primal Bahamut appears:
Magitek Terminal: Even with its stasis systems activated, Omega retained a measure of autonomy. Deprived of mobility, the weapon continued to scan the world around it, searching for a threat to engage. It was at the time of Bahamut's resurrection when Omega emitted a unique signal -- a signal which appeared to indicate the acquisition of a target -- and we first discovered that the machine had retained some degree of awareness.
So, for some reason, when Sophia, Zurvan and Sephirot appear, Omega ignores them: it only bleeps and bloops when Primal Bahamut is born. It could be that its aetherical signature is so similar to Midgardsormr's Omega thinks it got its original target. But it could be that Omega was built to hunt beings similar to Archaeotania: artificial, dragonlike and presumably drawing aether from the ambient like even Midgardsormr does. Now let's take a look at this dialogue in the lvl 50 The Rising Chorus quest:
Lucia: Last night, the dragon star burned with an intensity not seen in fifteen summers. Not since the Dravanians engaged the Empire in the Battle of Silvertear Skies. Urianger: "The northern sky doth burn full bright upon the wyrm lord's call. The red behemoth beckoneth, and flame consumeth all." Lucia: The old Coerthan rhyme, aye. The brighthening of the dragon star is said to accompany the roar of a great wyrm. The astrologians believe that it was Midgardsormr himself who cried out in this occasion.
So we know that the telepathic roar of a great wyrm can, from Hydaelyn, activate and make the Dragonstar shine bright in the sky. As the Dragonstar is a dead rock floating in space now, we can only imagine the roar messed with its aether enough to physically make it shine. Could the Sound be an echo of Midgardsormr's roar? Why would Midgardsormr roar? We still don't know. But Midgardsormr is in some kind a harbinger of doom. I'll make a post on it later. What could be the timeline? The [?]s are because I don't know when or the exact order it must have happened.
Midgardsormr, for some reason, roars.
The Ancient's planet gets destabilized, the Sound starts.
The Ancients get scared, leading to their creation magicks going haywire.
The Amaurotines capture Archaeotania and develop Omega to halt the monsters and to give the Convocation time to act.
Zodiark is summoned, rewriting the laws of the star.
Omega leaves for the Dragonstar.
Hydaelyn is summoned.
Midgardsormr flees from the Dragonstar.
[?] Hydaelyn sunders the planet.
[?] Hydaelyn calls upon Midgardsormr.
Omega, while hunting for Midgardsormr, loses both its homing coordinates and contact with its home star.
Omega crashes onto Hydaelyn and doesn't realize it's back home because it is lost and the planet is way different than it was when it left.
I don't like that even Omega and the Dragonstar would be "Ancients/Ascians again". That's okay. I get it. But it would explain a lot of things, such as: 1. Why would Hydaelyn accept Midgardsormr but ignore Omega? Because Hydaelyn saw an opportunity to neutralize the greatest threat to Herself, Midgardsormr, but recognizes Omega as native from the pre-sundering Planet so doesn't see anything wrong with letting a wayward child come back. Omega was wrong in trying to go back home: it was always home, but it doesn't realize it. 2. How would the Allagans have found Omega? It's very interesting, even Deus ex machina (hehe) like that the Allagans coincidentally found a super-advanced, ready-to-be-reverse-engineered, easily-turned-off machine that was the basis for their technological revolution that led to at least two calamities. But we know Emet-Selch was responsible for influencing the Allagan Empire. What if Emet-Selch, or even Lahabrea, or both, were working together on this? They would know Omega was back, how to activate it, how to work with its technology and, most important, how to turn it off so that Allag would never be threathened by it. Why wouldn't Emet-Selch talk about Omega, then? Because Omega is a symbol that his people weren't as perfect and pacifist as he wants to believe. The fact that his people could only be saved by a violent war machine, and not by their peaceful, elegant creation magicks and debate, must be abhorrent to Emet-Selch. This is why he must have chosen, like Mitron, to leave Omega to suffer at Allag's. In the end, Allag triumphed both against the Dragons -- the Ancient's planets nemeses in this scenario -- and against Omega -- the stain in the Ancient's peaceful history. Anyway, isn't Final Omega non-canon? Not exactly, not as I see it. For some reason, Alphascape Savage is the only Savage tier that isn't the Menestrel making things up: it's Omega itself that gives you the data it messed with. Final Omega is a form of Omega made by Omega. Is there anything else about this crazy theory? Both Omega's and the Ancient's planet's name have been mysteriously omitted. Omega physically cannot speak the name of its planet in any of Hydaelyn's languages, and Emet-Selch never gives us the original name of the planet. I think this is it. I'll keep updating this post and doing more posts as I think about more things about the robot. Thanks for reading.

Why do you think people aren't able to grasp the more nuance and difference of Ironwood vs a actual villain like Salem? Is the concept that sometimes you can't save everyone and have to make the tough calls hard to understand? I'm all for IW saving everyone and stoping Salem, but the show has yet to provide anyway that's possible. What's he supposed to do? I want to know what people want IW to do that will save Mantle, Atlas, and stop Salem.
I think a lot of it stems from unintentionally and/or willfully misunderstanding what the situation actually is. I list both because sometimes the misunderstanding stems from “I completely forgot they established this eight episodes ago,” sometimes it’s “I spend a lot of time in the fandom and when theories started being presented as facts I didn’t notice the change,” or “I’ve hated this character for so long that anything said even remotely in their favor is going to fall on deaf ears,” etc. There are a lot of ways it can come about, but the takeaway is I don’t think the concept that you can’t always save everyone is hard to understand, so there’s something interfering with the ability to see the situation that way. Those who supposedly don’t understand it are viewing it as Situation B whereas we’re seeing Situation A. We’re asking why they don’t like the taste of apples when they think they’re eating an orange.
Some concrete examples that I’ve seen in regards to Ironwood:
“But Ruby can just use her silver eyes. Ironwood is ignoring an obvious weapon here. He’s not even willing to try to fight and that’s bad.” This is applying our knowledge - an audience’s meta, genre savvy knowledge - to the situation, thereby changing it, but it’s not knowledge Ironwood shares. That situation doesn’t exist in the canon. No one has established for him that silver eyes are a potential weapon against Salem. Ruby hasn’t even realized that yet. Why would he risk everything on a theory no one has ever brought up? How much does Ironwood even know about SEWs? It’s a slightly more complicated version of yelling at the protagonist for not arresting the serial killer. The audience has forgotten that we know who the killer is because we have additional knowledge that the character lacks.
“Ironwood’s plan is stupid. The grimm are just going to fly up to Atlas and then they’ll be trapped. How are they going to feed themselves for months on end? He’s resigning the people of Atlas to a slow, agonizing death.” This is simultaneously ignoring the actual situation and making it sound far worse than it is by assuming a whole bunch of lore that we don’t know anything about, one way or the other. The situation is not, “What’s the best plan Ironwood can come up with and is this one it?” it’s “What’s any plan he can come up with? Because that plan is better than death.” None of our characters claimed flying away was perfect or without problems, just that it had a possibility of ending better than staying to face Salem will. We then have those assumptions tacked on. Do we know how high grimm can fly? No. Do we know how long Atlas can sustain itself? No. Did Ironwood ever say he planned to stay up there for months on end? No. Yet fans are inclined to state the worst potential outcome as facts: grimm can fly that high and Atlas will starve and Ironwood does plan to hide in the clouds forever... even though there’s nothing to support any of that.
Finally, we got another perfect example in my last reblog: “And Ironwood would leave them to die because of a pissing match he had with Ozpin.” First, framing them disagreeing and then Ironwood listening to Ozpin over the course of many years as a “pissing match” is highly inaccurate. (Insert here: likewise misinterpreting his “I’d have you shot” comment as legitimate setup for him shooting people now). Second, the conflict of whether to leave Mantle behind or stay to fight a doomed battle has nothing to do with Ozpin. He’s still hanging out inside Oscar. He is not a part of this decision process, nor is Ironwood acting like he is. There is nothing in our final episode to suggest that any of Ironwood’s choices stem from a “pissing match” with his former boss... but that sentence sounds really damning, doesn’t it? It’s reeeeallly easy to state something with confidence and allow readers to fill in the blanks: “Well I remember them disagreeing in the past... and this one post said that maybe Ironwood thought he was shooting Ozpin instead of Oscar... so yeah! He’s a villain because he cares more about his fight with Ozpin than his kingdom!” And then they spread that belief further. Yet where is the evidence for this? Not in the scenes where Ironwood and Ozpin resolved their conflicts. Not in Ironwood kindly greeting Oscar when he thought he was Ozpin. Not in the vault scene where Ironwood basically went, “Are you still Oscar?” and Oscar went “Yup” and that was the end of that. When you’ve got fans who watched the episode once (nothing wrong with that, it’s just then easy to misremember things), a fandom that states headcanons as facts, and other fans who are inclined to make confident but unsubstantiated statements, it’s incredibly easy to tell everyone that 2 + 2 = 10. You pick a canon event, present it as something it wasn’t, pick a headcanon, slam them together, and people come to a wildly different conclusion from what you’d get if you’re dealing strictly with the canon.
So I think anyone is able to grasp the nuance of this situation, it just requires dealing with this situation. Which is why I demand evidence! From both others and myself so that we can see what the situation actually is. Any and every statement made has to be able to be backed up by dialogue, visuals, action, or narration in the canon, or we need to acknowledge when statements have dialogue, visuals, actions, or narration that contradicts them in the canon. Doesn’t mean there isn’t wiggle room - there’s still very much interpretation of these things, as well as contradictions within the canon - but demanding evidence helps keep everyone on the same page. If someone can’t point to when Ironwood learned that silver eyes could potentially defeat Salem, or if they can’t present the dialogue where he says he intends to never land Atlas, or if they can’t show you where they formed the opinion that Ironwood was talking to Ozpin, or if they’re ignoring the five scenes you can pull up that undermine their position... it’s not persuasive. And if it’s not persuasive it’s unlikely to be the real situation. And if it’s not the real situation, then the fan is never going to grapple with the actual question at hand: Is it worth risking everyone you’ve already gotten to safety to fight someone who you currently have no way to beat?
Evidence is everything. Not to make this a soap box post, but this is how misinformation about ~important~ subjects is spread as well, not just our fun webseries. Has this person misrepresented this situation? Have they left out crucial information? If I ask them to trace their logic will they do so? Does it make sense? Can they point to the moment when they said this thing happened? Can they back up their claims with sources? Do I trust those sources? Honestly, fandom is a great place to practice skills that are going to help you throughout your life and this is one of the reasons why the anger at me making fandom “unnecessarily political” is hilarious. Not only is media inherently political, not only are massive online communities inherently political, but the behavior  we exhibit in fandom is wrapped up in politics as well. Statements like “Ironwood abandoned a city because he was pissed at Ozpin” are just a safe, fictionalized version of “Vaccines will give your kids autism.” They’re both unsubstantiated claims that sound very damning. So you ask, “How did you reach that conclusion? Because if I demand evidence for that I don’t think I’m going to be persuaded...”
When you’ve got a pocket of fandom that demands and listens to evidence, then you’ve likewise got a pocket working with the same situation. Then you can grapples with the aspects that stem from personal preference and subjectivity: I still stand by Ruby’s inability to leave people behind, Ironwood’s pragmatism resonates with me, I’d call him a hero, I’d call him an anti-hero, now we have to grapple with him shooting people and whether that clearly villainous act is built into his character arc well or if it’s an OOC call of the authors  ... all interpretations that differ, but are cut from the same cloth.

You're good man, no need to apologize.
|·Gender Neutral Reader. (F/n) = your First Name. (L/n) = your Last Name. (E/c) your eye color.·|
Warning(s): Mentions of death.
Dio w/an enemy Hamon user; Headcanons
Let's make things a bit spicy, why don't we?
You aren't aware of The Joestar crew hunting down Dio as well.
As a lone wolf, you went on your own hunt on the Vampire fiend that was Dio Brando.
For the convenience of plot; you are one of the few hamon masters, trained by another hamon master.
You began your hunt when Dio found his way into your village, and turned nearly every person into a zombie or some animal-human amalgamation.
Your family, your friends, killed by the effects of Dio. You vowed to destroy the menace.
Dio knew this for sure. When he'd laid his eyes on you while you killed the zombies.
Your (e/c) eyes burned with a passion of a thousand suns. A determination he'd only seen in Jonathan when he'd burst into the mansion that day to fight with him.
The moment he saw this, he was intrigued. You were obviously not a teammate of Jonathan's. Yet you were working now at the same goal to defeat Dio.
You set off, taking the supplies you needed, and began to hunt Dio down.
You had several interactions with the monster on your journey. He had his own little plans for you, separate from The Joestar's group.
"My name is (f/n) (L/n)! You destroyed my village! I've come to do the same to you." Your voice bellowed in confidence as you looked up at him standing on a rock formation several metres above the ground.
Dio only chuckled and laughed humorously. "You are a confident one, that's for sure. But you are weak before me! You've no power to challenge me."
Dio usually ended up sending zombies after you as a distraction for his escape. It wasn't that you were powerful and could easily defeat him. It was that you were smart, cunning, and could possible find a way to defeat him without touching him.
A game of cat and mouse ensued. Although you didn't see it as a game, Dio certainly did.
It was fun for him, and he wanted to keep playing.
He'd get close to you in battle, scaring you and making you fear for your life. Your heartrate increasing by the second. He found pleasure in this and would laugh at your reactions.
You grew sick and tired of this game.
The day that Jonathan and crew made it to Dio's mansion, was the same day you arrived.
You yourself were about to burst in from the roof, but then Jonathan and his gang had burst through the door. This halted you.
You spectated for only a little while, watching as Dio turned one of the men into ice and shattered him.
You watched them all use Hamon, except for the long haired blonde.
You assumed hopingly that these people were allies, and so you came in to assist.
You attacked the zombies with them, showing that you were an ally.
While you all attacked the zombies together, you were questioned.
"Just who are you?"
"My name's (f/n) (L/n). I'm here to get revenge on Dio for destroying my village. You?" You explained almost casually.
"My name's Jonathan Joestar. I'm here to defeat Dio so he can reign chaos no more."
You both had a goal to kill the vampire. It would be unsmart to go against each other.
And in the end, you helped each other. Both assisting one another in delivering the final blow to Dio. Thus, ending his tyranny.
A world of relief fell over you. It fell over everyone. It was a mutually felt feeling. One that radiated off of everyone.
Yes, your friends and family were still dead, but now they could rest in peace. And now, so could you. No one would have to deal with Dio again.
Right?
Thank you for the request! I'm sorry if at some points it goes a bit off track or has a bit too much unnecessary information. I tend to do that when writing. Also, apologies for any OOC dialogues. This was the 2nd request I received and it took 2-3 weeks to compose and post.

Lmao I got three I'm particularly curious about for you on the character meme. Thancred, Lahabrea, Igeyorhm. XD Feel free to do as many or as few as you'd like of course!
Tumblr media
You asked for it. We’ll start with That Damned Rogue. The Ascians will be below.
This of course got long, so behind a cut it goes:
Thancred
First impression: I started in Gridania and took like 2 years to finish ARR 2.0, was already spoiled on the possession angle (I spoiled myself, no big), and had just @erickgage‘s affectionate joking summary of Thancred being the guy who shows up 5 minutes late with Starbucks to all the early battles. So I didn’t really get to meet the guy ‘til the Waking Sands.
And honestly, he was stereotypical generic bland anime prettyboy competent guy. His 1.0/ARR model is…just sorta there. He was a flirt, also generic as heck. Really didn’t register too much, until I finished 2.0 finally and then went hard on the MSQ through the patches and into HW and StB 4.0, when I finally caught up to content.
Impression now: Godsdammit.
My first replay through the game was on PunchyCat, starting in Ul’dah, which meant I got to meet Thancred much earlier. I was immediately amused by his nickname for Nanamo, and Papashan’s assessment of the witty Archon. I was more into the lore, getting the first lorebook and reading the short stories on the main site, and playing through all at once instead of piecemeal over months/years made things make more sense. Thancred hits a lot of tropes I commonly like in a lot of characters, so he jumped up to being a favorite.
Gunbreaker suits him as a tank job (thank goodness he can stop trying to tank warmachina as a rogue, ffs Thancred), and tanking in general suits him when it comes to fighting for those he cares about.
I’m interested in the ShB story mentioning why he wears white in all his gear iterations; I’d previously made a post about his color choices and that aspect of character design, but having a lore explanation for his affinity for that color was interesting. I didn’t think his HW model suited him, honestly; way too rough mountain man hobo. His model in ShB is closer to his ARR model, but different enough, and imbued now with actual character, that he’s a bit more visually interesting and while still pretty typical handsome anime protagonist in appearance; his true personality just comes through a lot more.
I’m still forever mad about the unintentional character ‘ship with Aeryn, tho. It took a 3rd playthrough for it to happen.
For myself, mind, when I got into playing and learned his canonical age, it was at the time the same difference between myself and my younger brother. My assessment of the Scion “family” with Thancred being the middle child (esp his behavior pre-HW) maybe helps that. I’m getting to a point, really, where I look at the characters under 35 and think “OMG disaster children, all of you.”
Favorite moment: Oh goodness. There’s some good ones.
‘How was I supposed to know all my girlfriends would track me down and show up at HQ all at the same time: a master class in how to not to deal with multiple paramours by Archon T. Waters.’
His dramatic reappearance and duel with Ardbert in HW 3.1.
Taking out his frustrations by soloing the Coerthas cyclops boss so we can get on with the Tournament and fight Raubahn. (Side Bonus: pre-tournament when he jokes about fighting for the other team to even up the odds, and then: “It looks to be a veritable who’s who of the Eorzean Alliance. The only question is: who came to watch and who came to fight? Hmm…Nanamo. Definitely Nanamo.”)
Making sure Urianger knew he was still part of the team post-Soul Surrender climax.
“All right, which one of you triggered the obvious trap?” Also learning he can hold his breath for 10 freaking minutes–but still gets to be jealous of the WoL, Lyse, and Alisaie for their kojin blessing.
That dramatic teamwork with Urianger to knock Ran’jit down the pit in Rak’tika.
That frickin’ Trolley duty and it’s aftermath with the completed checklist of anime death markers and then just sitting there battered and bleeding and smiling and then giving Ryne a name and a headpat and “You’re family.” Bastard.
Idea for a story: Have you seen my Ao3 account? *grumbles*
Unpopular opinion: While he likely used drinking as a bad coping mechanism at times in ARR’s patches, I doubt he ever really went to blackout, as losing control to that extent, after having been controlled and probably losing a lot of time while possessed, would be awful. We see him drink a few times, but I don’t think he is/was an alcoholic.
I also agree with @ahlis-xiv that his flirtatious persona was mostly adopted. While he probably does have a healthy libido and enjoys time with paramours (that Urianger keeps a handy list of), there’s a lot that’s likely exaggerated, allowed to be assumed, and otherwise used as a cover, given his specializations. It’s also noteworthy how he’s mostly acting the same even after being lost in the wilderness, right up until our foray into the Antitower. The wit/humor gets toned down a lot, but the flirting is cut out entirely after that. He still charms some ladies in the First, based on incidental dialogue, but that seems a general reaction to him being a handsome hero type rather than any intentional flirtatious act on his part.
Favorite relationship: Thancred and little sister types. I do wish we’d seen more of his relationship with Minfilia outside of informed moments and the short stories. I feel like he has a semi-older-brother relationship with Lyse, too, given their antics in the 2.0 patches (particularly the “Hoary’s fighting the WoL, come watch!” and Thancred not even considering how one of his girlfriends would see him sending Lyse to retrieve an item until after and going “oh yeah, whoops”). And now there’s Ryne, and she is totally running things if you watch their background conversations/body language. But that’s kind of where Thancred likes it; find a girl who needs a protective older brother and do what she asks and whatever she needs.
I do have a special place in my heart for the expanded broship with Urianger that Shadowbringers gave us, though. I’ve already spoken on that one.
Favorite headcanon: Everything people assume about how he spoils the nutkin. And really, focusing on taking care of and doting on a pet would be good therapy. Goodness knows he needs it.
Also I assume he and Hilda hooked up at least once during the HW patches. Part of that expectation and cover, sure, to immediately flirt with the pretty, tough, half-elezen guard captain. But also, he spent however long mostly alone, and then only with the Vath and a nutkin for company; the guy was probably touch-starved and lonely and just needing a connection to another person he could relate to (that wasn’t a bug).
Otherwise, again, have you seen my Ao3? Ugh. Damned snarky smart rogues…

Lahabrea
First impression: Laughing Organization XIII-wannabe is obvious villain. Wonder what their deal is.
Impression now: So much lost/wasted potential thanks to being stuck as the ARR villain when it was so hastily rewritten and acted, and so little was decided on the Ascians and their motivations yet. A lot of what we learn now retroactively makes him more interesting. The fact he was a workaholic who looked at the workaholic Scion and went “ah yes; that one will do, perfect” makes me laugh.
Favorite moment: I like his interactions with Elidibus. And I am actually fairly fond of his theatrical reveal in Praetorium about the Ultima Weapon, the Heart of Sabik, and casting Ultima.
Idea for a story: Maybe stuff while he’s possessing Thancred. Maybe stuff between then and the Reactor. I dunno; I’ve been enjoying a lot of others’ stories about our first Ascian antagonist.
Unpopular opinion: Dunno if this is unpopular, but some of the retroactive information is to excuse why he seemed so much less powerful than other, later Ascians, but I do think the Speaker could be quite devious and powerful, if he had better writing around him. He suffers for being from ARR.
Favorite relationship: I am not ashamed to admit I am a Lahabrea/Igeyorhm shipper and Hades Ex seems to agree with me so there.
Favorite headcanon: The Speaker likely also had a good singing voice. Another thing good about possessing a man whose primary cover was a bard–excuses to indulge that.
————
Igeyorhm
First impression: Wannabe-Organization XIII also hires women, cool. Wonder if she’ll get to do anything?
Impression now: I’m sad so much got cut from HW; as great as it was, a lot got left on the editing room floor and it shows in spots–particularly where the Ascians connect with the plot. We learn much about her retroactively as well, including how she worked for/with Lahabrea thanks to being the one to wreck the Thirteenth, and change Ascian policy on how to bring about Rejoinings. I still wanna know more about her.
Favorite moment: You beat the whale, good job–thanks, that’s my key now. It’s such a perfect dick move. Excellent timing and taunting.
Idea for a story: Maybe some of her inner thoughts working for/with Lahabrea. She was a raised up shard, so does that mean they found the scattered pieces of her original soul and force-merged them? I doubt it, since Emet-Selch mentions raising up those who are a piece of the previous office holder, but I wonder if it came with imbuing the new title-holder with some of those memories and knowledge. Perhaps she wonders if some of her interactions/feelings/whatever with Lahabrea are her own, or her tapping into her previous life’s memories. Something to think about, anyway.
Unpopular opinion: I dunno, she shoulda gotten to stick around longer? Or been allowed to do a lot more? Should have been much more of a presence in HW, but I don’t think that’s unpopular so much as unconsidered.
Favorite relationship: Lahabrea is really the only one she gets significant interactions with. Though I wonder about her interactions with the other few women in the Ascians.
Favorite headcanon: See above with the story ideas, really; she didn’t get a lot of time onscreen so there’s a lot of room to make things up, and retroactive info from ShB to make her more interesting, or at least her situation as an upraised Ascian.

Are you the one who does Hide theories? If so why not make a last theory about Hide's and Kaneki's eye, just for fun? If you dont know what I mean, let me explain. In the sewers with Hide, that eye we see covered in shadows up in shown in this current chapter along with the text saying 'I always looked to you'. Hmm... I'm not explaining this well...
You got the right person if you were thinking of the one who drew Hide’s probable damage assessment.
These are the tg/re: theory / analysis page I have :
❂ Character Theories
Hide and Kaneki analysis for the end of times.
This is very likely my last ever tg/ tg re: analysis seeing as it’s coming to an end, and hopefully most things will be resolved /explained with the last chap or some type of afterword of Ishida’s.
As per usual this has a lot of Hide mentions.
Tumblr media
At first I was confused by this, anon. Then I realized I hadn’t read the newest (Second to last chap) and now I get what you want me to talk about. It spiraled into a bigger analysis that I hope is engaging to anyone who happens to read it.
Tumblr media
Topics :
Kaneki’s eyepatch being present during the Arima fight
When was the ghoul mask Hide gifts to Ken salvaged?
Hide’s inability to speak to Ken right before the Arima battle
Who is the voice behind “I’ve always looked to you..” Ken hears in 178 re:
Kaneki’s selfishness
Butterflies and Hide’s expression
What will likely happen in the last chap
Hide as a teruterubouzu
Hide’s likelihood of surviving mentally or physically
Tumblr media
Sourcing chaps 134/136/ 138/139 of tg and 144/164/176/178 of tg re +
So, I went back and read into it.And checked to see if there was anything that could be analyzed.
Then I remembered, that there used to be a theory going around that Hide was speaking to Ken through some type of transmitter after the attack.
That he might have placed that eyepatch Ken suddenly shows up wearing to the Arima fight.
Tumblr media
I’ll break that down based on what I see, but long story short, Hide didn’t put that on him.
The Eyepatch:
pre Amon fight : on
Tumblr media
Post Amon fight : still on under the organic matter
Tumblr media
During the sewer scene : On and off (to show anguish but not actually removed)
Right before Hide shows up: He takes it off himself during the
“i’m the one being consumed scene”
Tumblr media
When he notices Hide : Organic mask back on but it can be assumed he dropped the actual mask in the sewage.
Tumblr media
Which would make sense, Hide likely recovered that same mask he later on gifts him in re:
Tumblr media
That mask though, also has the eyepatch it comes with attached.
And the one we see with Arima is different from what I can discern.
Tumblr media
The moment Hide touches him : No sign of that ghoul mask or an eyepatch under.
Tumblr media
The Hide pep talk:
Tumblr media
We know what happened in the sewers between Ken and Hide in regards to damage, it messed with Hide’s face and vocal fold.
Tumblr media
We also know for a fact, that Hide was not following Ken to his final destination.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The question now is?
Tumblr media
The voice Ken heard.
Hide was unable to communicate with Ken, transmitter, or not, so this :
Tumblr media
This is in Kaneki’s mind associating his own thoughts with those that Hide would likely say (see: Fantasy ‘you’re ripped’ Hide)
 or
Hide managed to sneak a few lines in like those above, before the ‘kiss’.
Always looked to you…
When it comes to Ken’s human eye and seeking association with the eyepatch that appears out of the blue on Kens eye before the Arima fight.
While Kaneki is engulfed by the massive current of dead cells and likely silently drowning as the current pushes him down the path he climbed–
He hears a voice.
Tumblr media
And right after we do, we see Touka looking out of the window, anticipating his return.
Tumblr media
Now, my first thought was that it was somehow something off screen, Touka might have said to Ken.Which doesn’t add up knowing her behavior and dialogue pre sex.
But, then you might ask, who the heck would be saying that.
‘Always’ implies someone has been there prior to Kens ghoulification surgery.
It could be a part of himself speaking out to him, which, to me, would be underwhelming and a bit unecessary at this moment.
It would also imply Kaneki’s bastardized version of D.I.D was present as Kuroneki, which trauma noted would not be weird, but would not add up with what we know of Kaneki.
Ishida after-all fills the manga with foreshadowing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
chap. 144 re : Before he turns and kills many innocents and plays right into Furuta’s plan.
Losing the chance to imply that was a thing early on would be unlike what we see of his writing.
With only one chapter left, Hide being back and a big question-mark looming over who ‘kissed’ who in the sewers….
Tumblr media
The idea that Hide was on his mind just like in the sewers would not be far fetched.
Possibilities :
A conversation off screen post reunion
A talk they had when they met in the sewers, a wonderful build up to the last chapter including said scene before it all gets resolved.
something that his rendition of Hide in his mind would do is not far fetched.
Kaneki will likely die and Hide is aware.
Tumblr media
Chapter 178 shows us a butterfly twice. It looks like the sky has cleared and as though everything will go well when Saiko and Touka hold hands and hope to see Ken together.
However, this is a tragedy and we know things aren’t that simple.
The butterfly isn’t a simple of peace. In Japanese culture, amongst other meanings,
“Butterflies are closely linked with recently departed spirits”
and though that could be about Rize and or Furuta…
it could just be a death flag for the protagonist.
Tg re: has been rumored to be planned with a happy ending but what if the “happy” ending is for humanity and ghoulmanity and not for Kaneki himself?
What if Kaneki gets to die after securing offspring?
Tumblr media
chapter 176 re:
The whole pregnancy / child shenanigan screams that to the reader, life will go on, history has and will likely repeat itself in small arcs that envelop bigger ones.
Human / Ghoul Peace has been momentarily achieved (thanks Hide and Furuta sorta)  but other issues surely will arise.
Much like the non canon ending of the Root A anime, in which everyone in battle seized the fight as a ghoul held a human friend in his arms.
It’s a tragedy, it is very likely that Kaneki will die after having at least become aware of the damage he has done upon the country and his best friend.
Tumblr media
chap. 164 re:
After finding a reason to live.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Having Hide facing away from the monitors, sweating and concerned instead of celebrating, towards what looks like the butterfly outside the building, is a bit telling.
Tumblr media
As well as other scenes throughout the manga…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Additionally, Kimi seems concerned with what she has been monitoring, it might have to do with Kaneki’s rc cells and the toxin engulfing him and skyrocketing them.
Tumblr media
chap 176 re:
Hide’s likelihood of surviving this mentally or physically?
Tumblr media

A final note in regards to him, we saw his scarecrow outfit.

Who:
“Traditionally, if the weather does turn out well, a libation of holy sake is poured over them, and they are washed away in the river”
According to a Japanese reading friend of mine, they might even get candy.
And what happens when the sun doesn’t come?
She said they cut the head off.
Tumblr media
link
And well my research tells me she is right :
“Teru-teru-bozu, teru bozu/ Do make tomorrow a sunny day/ But if the clouds are crying/ Then I shall snip your head off”
Tumblr media
There is also one origin theory that is quite harrowing :
“However, after promising good weather to a feudal lord, the sunshine did not appear as promised and the monk’s head was chopped off as punishment. It’s said the monk’s head was then wrapped in cloth and hung outside to stop the rain and bring out the sun.” (From the same link source I added above)
Tumblr media
So what does this mean for Hide? He fixed so much in Kaneki’s absence.
Tumblr media
In a way he brought the sunshine, but Hide’s purpose is not world peace, everything he does, he does for him.
Tumblr media
So what is his payoff? Letting him be swept by a stream of water?
Tumblr media
or maybe he will be decapitated somehow trying to help Kaneki one last time?
Tumblr media
I say if you kill one off, have them be together in the end.Living without Kaneki would be terrible considering how emotionally invested Hide is.

I'm here with a Hiccup!whump request! Since you reblogged my post asking for requests I assume you meant the same, so here it is: Make him get hurt in battle. Shoot him with an arrow maybe? He lives of course, but yeah, arrows could be fun.
@evilwriter37 Thank you! I loved writing this! I might make a whole short series, but that depends! Anyway, enjoy!
Blackened Blood:
Thedragon hunters were angrier than ever, after the loss of theGrimborns. Someone new had taken over as leader, someone Hiccup hadyet to meet. It had to be someone new! The dragon hunters were fartoo organized to not have someone pulling their strings!
Itwas a relatively normal fight that day, burning rocks were thrownfrom catapults at Hiccup and Toothless, which they had become verygood at dodging. He expected that after the Grimborns were taken careof this constant battling against two foes would end, but he waswrong. It appeared almost as fuel to the fire. He could see it ontheir faces, though their catapults appeared the same. He could feelit in their voices as they shouted at each other to ‘get moving’and ‘load the catapults’!
Astridand Stormfly whizzed through the air, dodging as Toothless haddodged, to come and have a dialogue with her boyfriend. “This isthe second attack since Viggo…well you know… I thought they wouldhave been disheartened. Maybe, you know,” She shrugged, “even alittle scared.”
Hiccupfrowned, an expression Astrid hated. “They are scared.” He toldher. “And wounded.”
“Theycertainly aren’t acting wounded!” She called, as Stormfly did anacrobatic flip through the air to dodge yet another round of burningrocks!
“That’sjust what they are acting though, Astrid!” He shouted, over thesound of wind and to allow her to hear him from the distance. “Adragon bites hardest when it is wounded!”
Shecame flying back. “Well this biting better stop soon! It feels likewe’re starting all over again! We’ve gone in circles! Where’sthe finish line?!”
“Idon’t know.” He bemoaned. “But we can’t give up…” Hisspeech was interrupted by a sharp cry! In his left shoulder he couldfeel a stinging pain; a visceral piercing running up his arm, as ifusing his veins as road ways! The head of an arrow deeply burroweditself into his flesh, in an instance!
“Hiccup!”Astrid called, reaching out her hand in the air, instinctively tryingto touch him from far off.
Hegrabbed his shoulder and squeezed, trying to mask out the pain withadded pain. His heart had begun to pound and vision momentarilyblurred. The pain was almost unimaginable! He had nearly passed outand slid off Toothless, but managed to catch himself. Astrid calledto the other dragon riders to regroup and head back home. It was nouse continuing this fight while one of their own was so injured!
“Whathappened to him?!” Asked Snotlout. “What?!
Didhe just forget we were fighting dragon hunters?!” He was obviouslyconcerned, but he had an odd way of showing it.
“Maybewe should pull it out!” Fishlegs suggested.
Hiccuphad come to his senses and realized Toothless was already flyinghome. He had been consciously out of it for a few minutes. He grabbedonto the smooth base of the arrow, and pulled it out! A new pain cameflushing through him! He clenched his teeth and grunted!
Whenthe gang got back to the edge that evening, Astrid tended to Hiccup’swound with a gentle hand holding a wet cloth. Every tiny peck broughtmore pain than warranted for an arrow wound. “I should have beenmore focused!” He said, squinting his eyes.
“Hey,that arrow came out of no where.” Astrid cooed.
“Well, not out of no where. Obviously.” Tuffnut chuckled.
“Yeah!”Ruffnut agreed. “Unless it was a magical arrow.”
Tuffnutgasped. “Could they have the gods on their side?!”
“Noway!” His sister folded her arms. “The gods wouldn’t side withthose muttonheads!”
“Yeah.You’re right.”
“Thiswound looks strange.” Astrid said. “It’s all black!”
“Yeah.”Fishlegs mirrored Astrid’s expression. “The arrow lookeddifferent from the other arrows we’d seen before too.”
Outsidethe sun was beginning to set, and two familiar silhouettes camewalking into the meeting room. Dagur and Heather had come back tocheck in on their favorite dragon riders.
Whenthey set eyes on Hiccup their smiling faces immediately turned toconcern.
“Hiccup! Are you alright?” Heather asked, walking quickly up to stand byAstrid. Dagur, of course, followed. “Is it very bad?” He asked, before seeing it.
“Itis a pretty good one.” Astrid said.
Dagurlooked closely at it, and his eyes widened.
Thegroup looked at him, everyone with their stare locked on his face.
“W-whatis it Dagur?” Hiccup finally asked.
Dagursighed and rubbed the back of his neck with his hand. “I’m notsure but…”
“Butwhat?”
“Butit looks like Viperfang venom.”
“Viperfang?”Fishlegs searched his database for such a name, and no bells wererung. “I’ve never heard of that dragon. Have you Hiccup?”
“No.Dagur, what is it?”
“I’venever actually seen one. It is an incredibly illusive dragon, and itsvenom is one of the most expensive things a traitor can have. ViggoGrimborn was said to have a little, but the venom is so difficult toget that I doubt even he had any. The venom turns the skin a blueishblack slowly, until it completely dissolves the person like acid. Thereason it is so expensive is because of the slow and painful death, and also its ability to grow and take out a dragon of any size.”
“Howdo we get an antidote?!” Astrid asked, voice becoming shaky.
“TheCavernCrasher is said to be immune to the Viperfang.” He shrugged.“That’s my best guess, but no one has ever survived, Hiccup. Youhave 3 days, at most.”
Hiccupcould feel his heart sink. He looked into Astrid’s eyes. She was soafraid, he could tell. Would he see her in 3 days to come? Toothlesspatted his nose on Hiccup’s chest, and he rested his arms on hisdragons head. He couldn’t leave Toothless behind!
