You glanced around the sterile white room you were in currently, unsure about this entire endeavor. Seonghwa had informed you that you were to show him how you pleasure your body, if only to make sure that he understood all aspects of sex and pleasure. San had been politely kicked out, much to your dismay, and now you were by yourself.
Like the majority of the rooms in this space ship, the only item inside was you and an odd shaped chair. It was comfortable at least but the position it forced you to take, legs spread and pushed up, really had you thinking some thoughts. Was this entire ship outfitted just for the purpose of sex?
Seonghwa entered the room with a quiet susurration of the sliding door. His face was blank for a moment and then his eyes landed on you. “My moon,” He said in greeting.
You smiled hesitantly. “Hi, Hwa.”
He cocked his head at you in inquiry. “You are worried?”
You shook your head. You knew that Seonghwa would not harm you--or rather, he hadn't so far--but there was something about not having the comfort of San that was making you feel uneasy. “San--”
Seonghwa dismissed the rest of your sentence. “Your mate is fine.”
“I'm sure he is,” You chuckled under your breath, “I just miss him. He makes me feel brave.”
Seonghwa frowned. “What do you need to be brave about?”
“I haven’t been alone with you before,” You whispered.
Seonghwa pondered on your answer a bit before answering. “Is it intimidating being alone with me? Have we not formed a bond through the mating?”
You decided to be truthful with him. “You’ve stated your purpose is to observe the mating rituals of humans because your kind does not perform them in order to procreate. It’s all very clinical and scientific. The detachment is… off-putting.”
“You no longer wish to have sex with me?” Seonghwa said, coming to his own conclusions.
“No, it’s not that.” You made a noise of frustration. “Seonghwa, do you want to watch me touch myself?”
“Of course, I need to know--”
This time you cut him off. “No, Seonghwa. Is your body excited to watch me touch myself?”
Seonghwa’s cheeks began to heat up and you watched as his cock lifted up his robes. He looked down at his cock like it was a foreign object. “Yes?” He affirmed but still sounded confused.
You sighed heavily. Of course you wanted to help the aliens, this entire experiment was a lot of fun. But you didn’t understand where that left you, and perhaps your heart, that was making room for more than San. But still, you’d do what Seonghwa asked, if only so that the sex was better.
Seonghwa swallowed loudly as you moved to cup your breasts. “Wait. I will need explanations.”
You recalled the observations Seonghwa made when he fucked you the first time and understood his instructions. “I can do that. But come closer so you can see better.”
Seonghwa moved until he was between your legs, his hips knocking against your knees, because that’s how bent the chair made you. He waved his hands in the general direction of your body. “Do you need to touch the mammary glands that secrete the liquid for the young?”
You massaged your breasts lightly. “There is some pleasure in touching my breasts,” I revealed. Seonghwa’s pupils bounced with each jiggle of your breasts.
“Expand,” Seonghwa commanded.
You pulled your shirt up with your bra and revealed your tits. Cupping them again, you moaned softly. “San likes to knead my breasts like a cat but my favorite part is when he teases my nipples with his blunt nails.” You drew your own nails around your areola until they puckered nicely. “He likes to stuff his mouth with them.”
Seonghwa’s eyes moved from watching you touch your breasts to your eyes. “What do you like?”
“I like a little bit of teeth on my nipples,” You whispered, like it was sacrilege to even bring up, “Just a little bit of a bite, some pain and pleasure is nice.”
“Does touching your breasts make you wet…” Seonghwa’s eyes descended to your mound, still hidden under your skirt, “...down there?”
“Mhmmm,” You hummed in acknowledgement.
“Can I see?” Seonghwa asked quietly.
You had to suppress a moan. Why the fuck were these aliens so fucking cute being so innocent when it came to sex? It was driving you wild with lust.
You lifted your skirt up. Seonghwa was the one to groan when he saw your lower lips glistening. “I’m wet for you, Hwa,” You murmured, “Does that excite you?”
Seonghwa rutted against the top of the chair. “Yes.”
Letting go of your skirt so it fell against your stomach, you spread your lips and dipped your middle finger into your hole. “it's not very pleasurable to be touched unless the finger or appendage is wet,” You instructed.
Seonghwa’s tongue came out and licked his lower lip. “We have toys.”
“What?!” You warbled, caught unaware.
“We researched a lot and found that most females utilized manufactured cocks to achieve pleasure without breeding. So we fabricated them to ensure a female would want to breed, thinking this was the process first,” Seonghwa told you.
“Do you want me to use a toy?” You countered, your voice still wobbly.
“Yes,” Seonghwa agreed quickly.
You nodded, unsure if you could manage anything else with the state you were in. You watched as Seonghwa moved to the wall and a long, mechanical “arm” came out from the top of the room. You thought perhaps Seonghwa would offer you a choice, but clearly his mind was made up. He offered you his toy of choice, face suddenly lit up with anticipation.
“Seonghwa, that's--” You gulped loudly, “that somehow matches you.”
You were well familiar with the rabbit type vibrator. San adored using it on you, making you squeak with overstim and pleading with you to let him push you through at least another orgasm. You were under strict promises to not use it without him, but you often did, sending him risqué photos, knowing it drove him wild.
And to top it all off, the vibrator was green. Coincidence? You thought not. Then it occurred to you. “Seonghwa, is your dick actually green?”
Seonghwa shook his head gratuitously. “ I don't know what you're talking about.”
You'd store that little kernel of information for later. There was yet more time to pull the information from Seonghwa, or another alien.
You took the toy and brought it to your lower lips. You teased your hole with the tip before slowly easing it into yourself. Seonghwa was back in his original position, between your legs, getting a front row seat to the event. Once you had the toy firmly seated inside of you and the outer arm pressed up against your clit, you looked up at Seonghwa. “How do I make it vibrate?”
Seonghwa blinked and then the toy was activated. Was everything in this ship tuned to the alien’s minds? Your back bowed in pleasure and you cried out. “Slower, Hwa, slower, oh my god!”
The vibrations became less intense but you were panting with the sudden intense, dual stimulation. “Sorry,” Seonghwa apologized contritely.
“That’s…okay!” You gasped, “That was just--”
The vibrations sped up again and you screamed his name. The bursts were very short but very intense. You became so wet that without the outer arm, you figured the toy would be sliding right back out of you.
“Seonghwa,” You whined his name.
“I’m sorry!” He apologized again, whining himself now, “But your reactions really make me feel good!”
He may be a virgin but he had just discovered he was a sadist.
“Fuck…ing…jesus,” You panted.
“Can I make you cum?” Seonghwa asked, his teeth digging into his lower lip.
“You are something else,” You whimpered, “Is that why you lured me back here?” You narrowed your eyes at the tall alien suspiciously. “Was this even an order?”
Seonghwa’s eyes began to take on a shaky quality, which confirmed your suspicions. “I wanted to play with you.”
Jesus Christ, you were truly going to be a goner with these aliens.
You nodded, turned on more by the fact that Seonghwa was seeking out pleasure for himself through your own. You didn’t get a moment to prepare however, because the vibrations started back at full speed, even more intense than previously.
“Hnnnnn, Seonghwa, oh my god, fuck, this--this!--ah, oh god, oh fuck, shit shit SHIT!” You came in an unprecedented amount of time. Your pleasure zipped through you like electricity on a copper wire. Your nerves were zooming with the great feeling of cumming. But you weren’t allowed to simply float down from your high. No, Seonghwa pushed you through another orgasm, and another. When the tears started to stream down your face, however, that’s when Seonghwa stopped. You didn’t beg him to stop, you were more curious when he would halt it. Not that San hadn't put you through your paces like that before. You just loved being showered with adoration.
“Don’t cry, my moon,” He murmured, leaning over to wipe the tears away. “You never told me to stop.”
“So…good…” You whimpered, leaning into his hand.
“Can we do this again?” Seonghwa asked eagerly.
You nodded tiredly. “Of course, Hwa. But you’re going to have to beat San back with a stick to keep him out of the room the second time.”
There was a gleam in Seonghwa’s eye, and you were certain it came from watching you and San for the first time. “He can join. I don’t mind.”
“Yeah, I figured you’d say that,” You laughed.

Let's talk about Aspec characters and relationships!
I'm aroace. I write a lot of characters who are aspec in some way. I have a lot of aspec friends. And this is why your aspec character is driving me crazy. There's also sex talk in here so if you're not mature enough to handle it please scroll past.
Edit: Allos also should reblog this if you found it helpful.
First lets get some terms right:
Aromantic (aro) and Asexual (ace) are two distinct things. Aroace means you're both aromantic and asexual at the same time. It is generally referred to as 'aspec' (aro/ace spectrum) when you fall on one or both spectrums. If you are not aspec you are allosexual/alloromantic (allo). It just means someone who isn't ace or aro. You can also be aroallo or aceallo (aromantic allosexual, asexual alloromantic). All these terms are neutral and not used in derogatory ways similar to trans/cis. It's a descriptive word not a put down.
Now about those characters and their relationships. Because that is the most :))))) to me as an aroace is when people just don't know how to handle an aspec character. Usually because they're allo. But that's okay you probably don't know and we're all here to learn from each other. Here's some things to consider when you want to make or write an aspec person.
Ace's do sometimes have sex. They just aren't motivated by sex. That's it.
Along with sex your ace character may also masturbate and feel good being touched. They also might only like touching themselves and hate when other people do it. They usually also know when someone is hot/sexy and will comment on it. Finding someone sexy =/= we want to fuck them. Thinking someone is hot =/= we want to fuck them. We're still human. We know what a hot human looks like. Your ace character might be attracted to someone's appearance aesthetically but have no interest in their bits. Your ace character might fall in love with the most beautiful person in your story and never show any interest of wanting to bed them.
They can have boyfriends/girlfriends/romantic partners they do or don't have sex with. But they can be anywhere on the spectrum of sex repulsive, to sex positive, to absolute sex hound. Some of the horniest people you know are probably ace. Some of the horniest people I know are ace, and I have a lot of ace friends.
And we're not all virgins. Some ace's had sex and realized 'nah fam. Didn't do it for me' and never did it again. Others are virgins and have no intention ever of having sex. Others are virgins but don't care either way? It just hasn't happened. Others enjoy sex with their partners. Some are parents! You can be ace and had enough sex to procreate. Some also think sex is icky or it squicks them out. Some might be squicked out at the thought of sex with another person but they're fine looking at porn or doing it themselves. There is a wide range of what asexuals are into just like allos.
Aros also sometimes do the sex. They are not motivated by romance. That's it.
That being said your aro character can have a boyfriend/girlfriend/partner and it can be 'romantic'. It doesn't have to be a queer platonic relationship. Your aro character also might not want to be in a relationship at all. It is not weird for your aro character to call their partner their partner or bf/gf or if they're married their husband/wife.
Aro people do not get butterflies. They don't really get flustered around people they like. There's no spark. And they don't feel that romantic attraction allos do when they meet someone and fall in love with them. I've found that aro people are also terrible at flirting or picking up flirting cues. At least in my own personal experience when it took my aro ass 3 years to realize some girl was flirting with me and I just thought she was being nice to me. Take the 'useless lesbian' trope and take it to 11. We just don't know. Aro people also know when other people are hot. Just like aces just because we're aro doesn't mean we don't know a baddy when we see one. We just probably won't realize said baddy is flirting with us...
Aro character still love. They love their family, they love their friends, they love their partners. And it's all real love. The love is still there. Aro characters also probably know what they should do to mimic being in love. Even if we don't love someone more than platonically they may still do the things romantic partners do with their partner. Some don't! And that's fine too. Sometimes you're boyfriends and you share the same bed with him, and sometimes your girlfriend is just your roommate. Both are totally valid aro relationships. Maybe your character kisses their partner passionately and they like it, or they might only kiss during sex, or they might not kiss on the mouth. All valid and correct, still no romo. Kissing =/= romance for aros. Sex =/=romance for aros.
Aroace characters do all those things! At once! They can do the sex, and the boyfriend/girlfriend/partner and loving their friends. They just are not motivated by sex or romance. Kissing =/= sexual attraction. Sex =/= romantic love.
Being aspec is looking at the most beautiful and delicious cake in the world and going 'neat, cake' and walking away not even wondering what it tastes like, not even for a second considering having a bite. It's a cake. Neat. You are not motivated by cake. You don't even really care about cake. It's nice that other people fucking loooooooove cake but it's just not for you.
We also know what love is supposed to be like, what a 'healthy sexual' relationship should feel like. It's everywhere. All around us. Constantly. It's also sometimes fucking exhausting! It's why some aspec people can be a bit agro. We get it you're in love/got a new partner/are sleeping with someone/really sexually attracted to this person/keep spamming us with your celeb thirst pics/etc. It does get tiring sometimes. We don't care about the cake and sometimes listening to you talk about the cake drives us crazy. Consider that too when writing aspec characters. Sometimes their friends and their cakes are annoying no matter how much they love them platonically or romantically.
Anyway just some things to consider for your aspec OCs from an older aroace. Should be said aspec is a wide spectrum and I'm drawing on my own experience as an aroace with aspec friends, and my writing of those characters. If you have more questions about writing characters on this spectrum feel free to ask!

Girl omg I am IN ABSOLUTE LOVE with your animatics- I’dmarrythemifIcould- can I ask what program do you use for animatics? And do you have any tips on making animatics (especially abt character and camera movement) or any sneak peaks into your process? I’ve been wanting to dip my toes into trying it out but I’m not quite sure where to begin.
I have Clip Studio Paint EX, but I’m still trying to figure out the animation features etc and, again, I wanna try my hand at making animatics, that’s why I’m asking :3
Okay... For almost all animatics I use Toon Boom Harmony Premium (it has a lot of stuff and it's comfortable for me) Also sometimes I use Krita and Clip Studio Paint (I used this video to understand main features of this program (Little fact, I used Clip Studio to animate "Yellow light" for the first time). Lately started animating in Procreate too, pretty funny and comfortable one About tips... I had one about smoother shifts between frames (but for some reason I can't find it? Even with the fact that I did put a special tag on it) and I don't know what exactly you need about other tips. Almost everything I make intuitively, I kinda see where to move camera too make right effect? But I can tell one most useful tip, if you really wanna animate, try to imagine how it will move in your head, use references (just watch video and copy on paper on program moves from there), look how things in your life moves, it will slowly stuck in your head if you will be stubborn enough. Because, I will be honest, I didn't learn any animation basics but over time, as I look at video lessons, I understand tha I do know them (but I think it will be important to know them theoretically, not only intuitively, if you will work with other people, because they help to specify how it should be animated (key frames, inbetweens, timing and other things) Artists which lessons I use to watch from time to time or I just love their way of animating: Toniko Pantoja, Alex Grigg // Animation for Anyone, GOBELINS Paris, ToastyGlow, pollovy, -岂几Kai-, Neal Illustrator, SAD-ist, Casserole :D, WolfyTheWitch, Rodrigo Sousa, Amelia B (There are more, but these are the first ones I always remember, and of course a lot of cartoons)
About wips...... I have a lot... "I bet my life", "Finale" Leo's pov, "Earth" and others in queue... I almost completed key frames for "Agnes" animatic (Full song, about 4 minutes? I'm making my dream live over here he-he-he), but I am so crazy about sending wips so that I created my little rabbit hole (to hide from Cass *giggle*) to stop sending them on tumblr because I want to make full emotional experience from completed work... It's not so cool if you already experienced first emotions from this when you could experience the whole thing biting your knees
I hope something from there was helpful, don't rush, try to understand how it all works firstly, try to understand what kind of animatic you want to make and what you want to show and make it~~~~ You will love it when you'll see what you're able to create~~~

any tips for a beginner digital artist who is having a really hard time transitioning from traditional? (and YES I have been practicing but it still just Doesn’t Look Right). I’m currently working on Procreate. Thanks so much ash!
ohh man this is a difficult one haha I personally found it very easy to adapt to digital art (currently having. the opposite problem as you actually lmao) but right off the bat I'd say to uhh- dont be to hard on yourself & give yourself the time to adapt the creative process to a new tool? Experiment with brushes until you find one that you really vibe with, start with low-effort and low-expectation sketches so that your muscle memory adapts to the new format and once you found your footing with that move to a little more complex artworks (I remember smth that frustrated me a lot in the beginning was coloring and like. it's still a process but I'm coloring things on the reg now!!) and watch digital art tutorials or process vids to see how other digital artists use that same tool & which cool tricks u can learn from them! I hope this was helpful & that you keep having fun <33

What type of brushes do you use for colouring in and inking ect, and do you have any tips for how to colour?
a lot of the brushes i use are default procreate brushes! they depend on any given situation and how i want to style my art.
studio pen is modified to a version that mimics ROTTMNT's pen. and i like using the round pen for my default sketching/casual lineart drawings because it's such an easy pen to use. i have different versions of it where i have different sizes saved up.
Tumblr media
if i want a more sketchy line art, i use either eaglehawk or gloaming with the opacity slightly down to give the lines a more pencil-y look. i like it when my art looks imperfect and sketch :D
Tumblr media
meanwhile these are the brushes i use for backgrounds/coloring/lineless art. i lean more into a painterly style, reminiscent of a children's book but with my own spin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and finally, this is the principle i use for coloring. i also mess around with filters a lot but these can still apply even then. i posted this to patreon months ago but since i'm closing it down (until i get a greencard), here it is for everyone to see~
Tumblr media
please do note that even if you use my brushes, techniques, or program, my style will never be the same as yours and i mean that in the most gentle way possible. don't mimic my artstyle. you can draw inspiration from mine or other artists, learn techniques and study their art. but it should always be for the goal of finding your own voice and feel.
these tools and techniques are a mixture of things i learned and things i adjusted for myself over the years. a lot of times, you will find another artist's techniques to be such an inconvenience for you and that's okay. it's because you're not using your own voice. use your style/color palette/technique and use it your own way~

Updated drawing !!!!! Space cloak added!!!
I thought I was done with this drawing last night, but then I woke up this morning and was like Stolas NEEDS A SPACE CLOAK. Also I'm a whore for Cyan/turquoise. I couldn't help myself. I wanted to continue drawing the boys. I also updated the couch because I wanted it to have a bit more texture. I also have a version where Blitzø is not wearing the blanket/towel. If y'all want that just let me know.
I'm starting to run out of ideas for drawings. I am very open to suggestions/art ideas if you guys want to see anything in particular. Especially if the suggestion fits my current ADHD/autism hyper fixation. I'm very bored because I can't do much while in surgery recovery. I'm starting to really play with lighting options in procreate. I just started using digital art a little over a year ago, so it is fun learning. Traditionally more than anything I am a painter. I still don't know how people make things smooth. It was never my style. Ya girl loves texture. If you have any brush recommendations plz let me know.

Chapter 3 of The Keepers is out on AO3 and Wattpad. I don't have a drawing specific for this chapter (I might later, we'll see) but I made this art using PROCREATE!
This girl finally got an iPad. Wow Procreate is amazing. So powerful. And there I was thinking Krita is enough. I mean nothing wrong with Krita (I'm sure I'll go back to it for certain drawings) but drawing right on the screen instead of a pen tablet makes a world of difference. I'm still learning how to use Procreate and iPad in general but I'm having fun. Yeah. Excited to draw more stuff on it :)

((Some season 7 theories and predictions))
((Now I'm raging like an erupting volcano because procreate deleted my fanart I'm throwing some theories about what was the season and what we should expect last episode. Again, I tagged things if you want to be spoiler free.))
((One theories about the 3 characters behind Rick for the poster promo is each of them represent a lesson Rick needed to learn to face whatever happens last episode.))
((I also think they prepared the poster to give some hints. See in drawn in finger some things I think I got:))
Tumblr media
(( First let's talk about the 3 main characters behind Rick))
((From what I gathered, each of them were a lesson Rick had to learn to order to allow himself to progress. It seems from right to left the order of lessons fit but usually for American/European standard you would read left to right for older to future, so I wonder if this reverse order has a meaning? Like some from the past and some from the future?))
((The lessons I think Rick had to learn are:
Poopybutthole: Rick needs to care better about people he already cherishs (I think?)
Prime: revenge is not and shouldn't be a fullfilling ending for your life. Or at least revenge doesn't resolve everything.
Bigfoot: because some being aren't as intelligent as you want them to be or as you vision intelligence doesn't mean they aren't intelligent and you shouldn't underestimate them or treat them poorly.
((Note Prime is the biggest one, so I think the most important lesson Rick needs to learn is this one.))
((Not how the 3 are shaped like a triptych? Often used to represent a story on 3 parts which can be used as represent the narrative: the beginning, the present and the end. In christianity when they represent jesus he ends up sacrifying himself for the well being of others.))
((Also thought, from what I remember christian triptychs often represent the most important in the middle while the ones on the sides are details.))
((I also like they look like ghosts. It makes me think of the christmas tale where Scrooge being an horrible person is visited by 3 ghosts showing the past, the present and the future. Still theories, but I like the fact in the poster they don't look present or even real!))
((Now those lessons are learned, Rick needs to jump in the unknown - not a concept hole, a real hole- and oh damn, related to Morty maybe? I'm so excited.))

Procreate Dreams
I've been playing around in Procreate Dreams for about a week or so now, and I think I've got enough of a handle on the software to offer a fair review! If you're interested in hearing my thoughts, click the read-more below.
A little context before we get started; I have two degrees in animation, but they're both in 3D. My personal specialty is tech and articulation/rigging, but I think my background puts me in a unique position with Procreate Dreams; I know all of the theory behind animation, but I'm not going into Procreate Dreams and comparing it to a professional-grade software I generally prefer to use (like Toon Boom Harmony, for example).
So, let's get into it!
First Impressions
I hated it. I opened the software, it crashed. I couldn't figure out how to enable onion skins. I couldn't increase or decrease the exposure of my frames. I couldn't figure out how to swap to the eraser. I was confused, I was frustrated, and then I realized that I was expecting to jump in and animate without taking the time to learn the software first.
Once I stopped trying to strong-arm it and started looking up documentation, things got a little easier.
Re-Thinking My Approach
Procreate Dreams isn't comparable to any other animation software I've used before. The UI is different, there's a focus on gesture over buttons, and everything about it is meant to be minimalistic. None of this reflects poorly on the program, in my opinion. It's different. You can't go to Procreate Dreams and get mad at it for not being like the other software out there in terms of how it's used. In fact, I think one area of Dreams that should be applauded is the sheer ambition on display. It's a hybrid of traditional frame-by-frame animation and offers a slimmed down version of some of After Effects' most useful compositing & motion graphics tools. That's just plain cool.
The Good
For those of you who've used Procreate Dreams, you may find it's a little... difficult to see all the good it has to offer through the muddied waters it's launch-day bugs kicked up, but under all the grime, there's a little bit of gold.
Dreams is a one time, $20 USD purchase. That's huge in terms of affordability and accessibility in the software market right now.
The "Perform" option is great, and I think we'll see the longer that it's out, the more creative people are going to get in using it. I've already seen people create gorgeous parallax on their illustrations.
Simple compatibility with Procreate is a huge win. I'm finding my pipeline uses both software together.
The UI is a mixed bag overall, but I find the ability to move between flipnote mode and timeline mode to be great. It keeps the screen free, but I can still access the features I need while doing frame-by-frame.
The move/filters option is a great way to add a little compositing magic to your work.
The Bad
The "bad" here exclusively covers issues with the software as intended. Bugs will be covered under "The Ugly" below.
The lack of a lasso tool is a huge setback. I've seen people saying that it doesn't make sense not to have that feature at launch, especially when it's part of Procreate, but I understand why it may have been difficult to implement in conjunction with the move/perform/warp options. If you save a warp on top of an illustration, then cut and move part of the drawing, how is the warp/local translation data applied to that image? Does the pixel remember it's movement, or is it applied on top of the drawing? There's a lot to consider.
Similarly, the "reference" tool in Procreate would be an excellent tool to add color to layers beneath current layers. "Add Reference Track" would be great! That said, I think this conflicts with the move/warp tools like the above.
The timeline is a time sink. I should be able to adjust the exposure of my frames easily and consistently. As of right now, I have an 80-20 shot of selecting my layer or grabbing the handle for exposure. A small button on the edge of each frame (like a dot) would improve this considerably.
As far as I can tell, you can't mask a group onto another group.
No double-tap on the Apple Pencil 2 to swap to the eraser. This one I'm not sure about; it runs in Procreate, it seems simple to implement here... though it'd be great to see it customizable.
The Ugly
This includes bugs and other issues that are separate from the features (or lack thereof) of Procreate Dreams.
Crashes are frequent. I haven't used the software reliably during any of my sessions so far, but Dreams' autosave feature is extremely strong and very forgiving, so I have lost no work.
My pen pressure become erratic at times, necessitating a restart of the software.
Sometimes my pen will stop working, though other features in the app will continue to run.
The good news is, I think that Dreams is overall a huge win for artists and animators worldwide. Everything that's not working about Dreams will hopefully be resolved in future updates. I'd encourage anyone who wants to try animating for the first time to pick it up-- with the understanding it might take some time to get used to/master.

what brushes do you use to drawww, btw your art is so cool i am actively consuming
I use the Procreate app to draw, so I mostly use the base brushes it comes with, aside from a few extras I've downloaded. I've switched around a lot, and I'm still learning and experimenting, so it depends, but here are the ones I've been using most recently:
The main one I've been using for lineart is the Studio Pen, 'cause I like how variable the line width can be. That's the one I used for these:

These are all pretty much just made with that brush, actually. In that last one I believe I used a different brush for smudging the light layer a bit at the edges, but I'm pretty sure it was just the regular Procreate watercolor paint brush I use. Speaking of the watercolor brush, that's the one I used for these:

In the first one, I did the main color blocks and lineart with the studio pen, then did layers over the top with the watercolor brush to add more color variation and light. In the second picture I was using the procreate watercolor paint brush for the colors, and a brush I downloaded called "Trisketched Ink Brush Rough" for the lines. I like to use that latter brush for looser, sketchy stuff. (It's the one I used for all the Dazai Knitting AU comics!) Ah, and speaking of sketches, I also use the Procreate 6B Pencil whenever I just want to scribble something out, because it's very light and wobbly so I don't worry about neatness when I'm using it.
I use it for initial comic page layout, like this!

Although, I also sometimes use the Studio Pen for that, depending on how I'm feeling. You can see the red underlayer I was drawing the lineart over in this WIP, for example, and I just decided I wanted to use the studio pen for both the undersketch and the lineart.

Of course, there's other brushes that I've used as well, but these have been my main ones lately. :D If there's anything I've drawn in particular that you'd like more of an explanation of, I'd be happy to go over what I did!
