the only purpose of the shock collar was to subjugate, enforce cinder’s status as an object the madame owned. she neither chose it nor wanted it—and in the end, it was just a necklace. cinder breaks it with ease, with one hand. anyone might have set her free at any time with, literally, no more effort than it would take to lift a finger.
(do not try the bullshit nonsense about cinder’s enslavement being legal with me. slavery was abolished after the great war, and when the madame is displeased she brings cinder into the kitchen to torture her behind closed doors. adopting an impoverished orphan from a foreign country and using a collar made to look like a pretty necklace is how she gets away with it, enabled by the complete indifference of her wealthy patrons to the plight of the "adopted child."
the thematic point of rhodes is that he enforces the law only when it’s convenient for him to do so: he knows cinder is being abused, but he’s a regular patron of the hotel and he chooses not to say or do anything to intervene until he recognizes cinder as a threat to the madame. “hurting them won’t make your life any easier.”
we see this pattern reoccur again and again in atlas, that those who hold political or economic power flout the law without consequence or contort it to work for them while those beneath are subjected to strict, unforgiving enforcement. everything robyn does before the election is legal and above-board but the ace-ops openly treat her like a criminal and hound her about obeying the law, while ironwood misappropriates construction materials earmarked for mantle. this is the idea that rhodes embodies.)
so the greatest injustice of the collar is that it had no real power, by itself, over cinder. she could take it off whenever she wanted, except that she was not allowed to; no one willing to help her, no safe haven where she could find refuge after, and when she becomes desperate enough to resort to violence to free herself she is immediately prevented from doing so by a huntsmen—exemplars of moral virtue as they are intended to be—who tells her that in order to be good she must endure seven more years before she is allowed to leave without her guardian’s permission.
as an instrument of control, the collar can exist only through the willingness of the hotel’s patrons to participate in the fiction that cinder, having been lifted out of poverty by the madame’s generosity (look, she even gave the girl a lovely necklace!), is now earning her keep, learning the value of hard work. pay the scars no mind. rhodes intervenes to keep protect the madame, and his fondness for cinder is circumscribed by that motive.
the first time he leaves after he begins to train her, rhodes says goodbye by placing his hand on top of her head; cinder flinches—
Tumblr media Tumblr media
—and the scene cuts right to the collar:
Tumblr media
in the same mode, the madame electrocutes cinder in a panic as cinder strangles her, and rhodes’ final act is to place his hand on cinder’s head, scaring her—
Tumblr media
—after which she cuts him down and stands upright to remove her collar:
Tumblr media
the collar and the gentle (unwanted) hand are one and the same, two faces of a single instrument. carrot, stick. neither figures cinder as a human being. rhodes is only gentle until she disobeys him, whereupon the covert violence of their first meeting is reified: he enters her only ‘safe’ place to catch her in an unlawful act; his first action is to pass judgment; his second, to draw his weapons.
now, that’s not yours, is it?—huntsmen are called to embody a heroic ideal, to protect others who cannot protect themselves. rhodes places his own weapons into cinder’s hands and declares that he will train her as a huntress on the condition that she agrees not to protect herself; he releases himself from his duty to protect her by moving her into the category of people who do not need to be protected, and thereby makes her both guardian and grimm: as a child who will become a huntress it falls to her to protect her family from the monster of herself.
thus she’s forced to become an active participant in her own abuse; before she can break free of the collar, she has to bite the hand that held it in place.
now to the grimm. during the montage of cinder’s training-and-abuse, there is a particular sequence that goes like this: rhodes and cinder spar with wasters late one night, he disengages and gives her an approving nod; we cut to cinder kneeling before the madame in the empty lobby, dusting a glass statuette of a sabyr for inspection. her work is found inadequate, and the madame finds quiet satisfaction in reminding cinder of the power she has over cinder:
Tumblr media
then the madame walks away, and although cinder strives to maintain the performance of being unaffected—indifferent—she can’t:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
in contrast to the scenes preceding cinder’s bargain with rhodes—wherein the larger-than-life glass statues looming over the lobby alternate between prominently visible or just protruding into frame and cinder’s face is an open book of angry resentment—this is the only instance of a grimm figurine being clearly visible and in focus during the montage, and also the one time cinder’s mask slips to reveal her anger.
similarly, in the time-skip at the end of the montage, the glass sphinx sitting on the coffee table in the mid-left is removed to signal the passage of time, with no other changes made to the decor:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but guess who’s back as soon as the situation reaches critical mass?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
glass wolf. glass dragon. glass shoes.
the point is, throughout the flashback midnight leverages these glass-grimm to symbolize cinder’s true self, her anger which protects her and which the gentle hand demands she extinguish. the fantastical gilded opulence of the glass unicorn depends on cinder staying quietly in her cage. no, it isn’t fair—the gentle hand admits this—but it is her moral imperative to serve others. in this distorted unreality the defenseless and the indefensible become commingled. a huntress, as salem would have it, is a defender who lives and dies to protect a lifestyle. or she is, as ozpin defines it, one who guards the peace by killing monsters.
cinder’s instinctive understanding that this is not fair—that she is not nothing—that she has been wronged—is the monster she must slay to become the hero of this story, the story of the glass unicorn and madame and rhodes and all of atlas. and in the end she can’t.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
rwby has never been precious about depicting blood, but there is no blood in this scene: not not on the floor, not on the bodies, not on her weapons, not a single drop upon her white shirt. her hands are clean. in shadow, the monster snaps the chain around her throat and turns to looks up at the moon—and its light reveals what is true. her tears, her scars. a child who deserved better than she was given. a child who did nothing wrong.
ahem.
Keeping [grimm] in captivity has proved to be an understandably difficult task, as the creatures tend to either die, or kill those who imprisoned them in the first place.
hm! anyway. the narrative function of this flashback is to provide context and contrast with the scenes that follow.
to review:
the collar’s power is enforced by communal indifference and complicity.
the madame, though unaware of him, depends on rhodes to keep cinder under her control; rhodes intervenes to protect the madame from cinder.
the gentle hand is an equal to the collar, a mechanism of control by which cinder is made to participate in her own abuse, and when she disobeys, it turns to iron and inflicts violent punishment. even when he is gentle, cinder flinches under his touch.
by training cinder to fight but forbidding her to defend herself, rhodes casts her into the role of both guardian and grimm: she is expected to protect the madame by slaying her anger and turning the other cheek.
the glass grimm figurines symbolize cinder’s anger, which protects her. when she defends herself, cinder metaphorically becomes grimm: the monster of the glass unicorn is destined to be hated and hunted for the rest of her life, and the monster of the glass unicorn is a blameless child who refused to let herself be hurt. grimm, in this story, are good.
also note
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the similar framing here.
now!—from the moment cinder wakes up, it is abundantly clear that she expects to be met with brutal punishment for her failure. “you—you brought me back here… we failed.” she’s horror-stricken at finding herself in this place and that hardens into terror as the reality sinks in that she is within salem’s reach.
later, on the bridge, she affects calm until salem pauses in front of her; her eyes snap open. she shrinks into herself at the sound of salem’s voice but hangs on every word. when salem mentions the winter maiden, cinder grits her teeth and braces herself.
cinder associates salem with the madame: that is why without you, i am nothing falls out of her mouth so easily when salem tears her down in 8.1 and again when salem threatens her in 8.4—those are the words to make the pain stop, to appease, to demonstrate that she is contrite and repentant and grateful. she believes that this is what salem wants to hear when cinder has displeased her. and she is, at the top of the bridge scene, waiting for the torture to begin so that she can choke it out again and survive this humiliating ordeal.
except that is not what salem wants to hear.
by now salem knows beyond any doubt that “without you, i am nothing” is what cinder believes she wants to hear, and it is obvious to anyone with eyes that cinder expects to be tortured. whether salem knows cinder’s history or not—i don’t think she does, not in any great detail—she knows people well enough to put two and two together. salem knows, then, that cinder expects to be tortured into groveling self-denigration.
she doesn’t want cinder to expect that from her. there’s no other reason for salem to be so thorough in dismantling the expectation.
if she wanted to make cinder afraid, the more effective way is to decline to torture her at all: cinder is so certain that salem will hurt her that withholding punishment entirely will only convince her that salem intends to wait until the moment she lets her guard down, or some other form of deferred retribution all the worse for being delayed.
whereas the most efficient way to puncture cinder’s terror of being tortured is—somewhat perversely—to actually torture her a little bit. because cinder does not BELIEVE there is any possible outcome in which salem spares her, if salem wants to introduce the possibility of mercy she first needs to enter cinder’s reality, where mercy doesn’t exist, by proving she can and will inflict pain to answer both defiance (“you chose to disobey my specific instructions”) and failure (“just to fail again…”)
a brief burst of pain to express displeasure instead of holding cinder under torture until she breaks isn’t really merciful, but it’s the lower bound of what cinder will be able to trust and it eases her into the idea that salem is lenient.
then, “and i’ve realized it’s all my fault. you’ve fought your whole life unwaveringly for what you want, and here i am holding you back, instead of lifting you up; you deserve so much more than i’ve given you.”
aside from being a straightforward subversion of cinder’s clear expectation—cinder thinks she will be abused without mercy until she breaks, salem stops and absolves cinder by reframing cinder’s disobedience as a natural consequence of her own failures—salem has a few specific things in mind here.
the most obvious is the reversal of what she said to cinder in 4.11: “i thought you were the girl who wanted power. did you lie to me? then stop holding back.” and she’s also pointedly walking back things she said yesterday, in 8.1 and 8.4: “all you need concern yourself with is your ability to act when i tell you to” and the “she thinks; she wants…” bit are here flipped into implicit praise for cinder’s tenacity in pursuing what she wants and implicit apology for standing in her way.
but the most interesting angle to consider is that this is salem’s response to “without you, i am nothing.” salem does not verbally respond either of the times cinder says that to her in 8.1 and 8.4; the first time, she dismisses everyone with a gesture, and the second time she just walks away. both reactions are in line with what cinder expects—after all, the point is to remind cinder that she is nothing.
however, cinder has—from what we’ve seen—never spoken to salem this way before, and given she seems genuinely taken aback when salem shuts her down in 8.1 i do think it’s likelier than not that salem has never demeaned her like this before, and that together with having been in atlas for months is what surfaces the trauma association with the madame and thence the appeasing behavior.
so consider how this looks to salem.
the last time she spoke to cinder, she said “you’re free to speak your mind,” and cinder whipped around from the window without hesitation, outraged: “i don’t understand! working with bandits? leaving ruby alive? what’s the point? we’re strong enough to take what we want by force!”—not even a ma’am in there. cinder addressed her like she saw herself and salem as equals, notwithstanding that salem had final say, and salem clearly didn’t have a problem with that.
several months pass. salem is displeased about the loss at haven but trusts that cinder will make an effort to recover the lamp; she is also worried enough for cinder to toss her plans and divert nearly everything to atlas, not that she’s willing to admit that’s why.
cinder walks onto the bridge and the first words out of her mouth are “my queen.” a few minutes in salem curtly informs her that no she will not go rampaging after the winter maiden and cinder’s answer is a demure, “of course; without you, i am nothing.” and then a few hours later they quarrel about it and cinder repeats those exact words in exactly the same tone again.
unless salem knows cinder’s history in far more granular detail than i believe cinder would be willing to divulge, that’s… a really strange shift in behavior with no clear reason; yes, she had to make up the loss at haven (and she did), and yes, salem was unusually mean to her, but neither of those things add up to this plainly well-practiced self-abasement from the girl who only a few months ago did not appear to have a humble bone in her body. once might have been sarcasm; but twice within a few hours?
whereafter cinder ran off to attack the winter maiden and almost died again and salem had six hours to pick all of this apart in her head while cinder lay unconscious.
why didn’t she respond to cinder saying “without you, i am nothing,” if that is not what she wants from cinder? well,
“you disobeyed my specific instructions, just to fail again, and i’ve realized it’s all my fault.” both times cinder said that, it was in response to the specific instructions that cinder disobeyed when she went after penny: you will act when i tell you to, and you will remain here. six hours, salem had to think about this. “you’ve fought your whole life unwaveringly for what you want, and here i am holding you back, instead of lifting you up; you deserve so much more than i’ve given you.”
salem does not think of cinder as nothing. even when she is deliberately being mean, she makes a point to say that she values cinder (“just because you’re more valuable to me than a pawn–”). cinder holds the key to her victory and cinder is also important to her in ways she cannot bring herself to admit except that she keeps bending her plans further and further for cinder’s sake. the first time cinder says “without you, i am nothing” to her, she seems bemused (brows up) and then wry. the second time, she doesn’t react at all.
then because she left it there, cinder nearly dies and is unconscious for hours. and once she wakes up salem hits her with:
this is my fault
what you want matters
i should be lifting you up
you deserve better
i will help you
IN A CLASSIC SALEM MOVE she does not actually say what she means, which is “you are not nothing,” but she finds an impressive number of ways to say it without saying it in just a handful of lines. and:
Tumblr media
she doesn’t touch cinder, but instead she offers, gives cinder a choice to take her hand or not, and this matters because no other character has ever given cinder that.
in 2.1 cinder touches roman’s face to assert her power over him; she does the same to pyrrha in 3.12 right before killing her; she slaps emerald in 3.7.
in 5.9, cinder reacts to watts grabbing her wrist like this—
Tumblr media
—and then sets his hand on fire. in 8.1, emerald starts to run over to embrace her, cinder snaps her head around and snarls “quiet.,” stopping her in her tracks. and after she wakes up in midnight, when emerald rushes into the room and grabs her, cinder tenses and verbally lashes out before jerking her hand away.
cinder really does not like to be touched and that all traces back to:
Tumblr media
rhodes patting her head. which is what he’s reaching down for when cinder kills him, because this time she senses him moving to touch her and can’t take it.
cinder bristles and retaliates whenever anyone touches her, and outside of grappling during fights the only times cinder ever touches other people is to hurt them or to remind them of her power to hurt them, because that is what touch means to her; it’s something those with power do to those beneath them, and something the weak must endure.
for salem to offer her hand to help cinder up is strange and unsettling; it breaks the rules. and cinder is very hesitant to take it—her fingers shake—but she does, and it isn’t a trick, salem pulls her to her feet without hurting her.
Tumblr media
whereupon cinder’s whole demeanor transforms from terrified incredulity to calculation. she doesn’t understand what just happened, but she knows touch is an instrument of coercion and a way to inflict pain. if salem were like the madame, she would not have done any of that; if salem didn’t touch her with the intent to harm her, then there are only two possibilities:
one, that salem’s resemblance to the madame is superficial and she is actually much more like rhodes; or two, that salem is the weak one and cinder holds some unknown degree of power over her.
the instant this thought enters cinder’s head, it becomes urgently important to figure out which it is, hence the murdering of colleagues and stepsisters and lying to salem’s face that cinder gets up to immediately afterward. BUT THAT IS NOT WHAT THIS POST IS ABOUT THIS IS A POST ABOUT THE GRIMM ARM. AND THEMES.
wheeze. okay
in the glass unicorn, cinder has two parental figures—the madame and rhodes—who act in synchronicity to keep her in her place. shock collar, pat on the head. stick, carrot. she is tortured and made to refract this violence inwards, against herself, by turning the other cheek. within this narrative, the symbolic purpose of the grimm is to protect cinder and cinder herself is symbolically identified as grimm; just as black glass is her signature in in the present, the white glass of the hotel’s grimm figurines reflects cinder’s starkly white-and-grey uniform.
glass, cinder. glass grimm, glass shoes.
unicorns, classically, are said to be ferociously wild and dangerous beasts tamable only by the touch of a maiden. those who hunt unicorns, then, should solicit a maiden’s assistance. she goes out into the woods alone; the unicorn finds her and docilely, fearlessly lays its head upon her lap and goes to sleep; and thus the hunters take it. this manner of hunting unicorns is called entrapment, and among medieval and renaissance depictions of unicorns it is by far the most common motif.
in the world of remnant, if unicorns are real then they are undoubtedly a kind of grimm.
gestures at cinder, the fall maiden, who can tame the grimm. who feels for them. maiden. unicorn. maiden. unicorn.
the story of the glass unicorn is a story about a maiden-monster whom a huntsman instructs to tame herself lest she be hunted forever; an entrapment of the self; in the end she hears the baying of hunting dogs in the distance and awakens to the truth that she too will be killed, in spirit if not in body, if she obeys the huntsman. the unicorn is not to blame, and the maiden is right to protect it, and the unicorn is, has always been, grimm.
bearing all of this in mind,
is the grimm arm another collar?
i don’t think it…is, actually, in any sense except that cinder forms an association between the madame and salem in 8.1—the collar and the arm are diametric opposites, mirror-images of each other:
where the collar was fragile and easily removed, the grimm arm is part of cinder’s body. where the collar derived all its power from pretense (it’s only a pretty necklace!), the grimm arm is impossible to mistake for something other than what it is. where the collar’s sole purpose was to inflict pain and remind cinder of her place, the foremost purpose of the arm is to replace cinder’s missing limb. where the collar was forced upon her and she hated it, cinder trained hard to master her new arm and has grown more comfortable with it in every new volume.
paired with the way grimm function symbolically within the glass unicorn narrative, as representations of cinder’s justified anger and desire to protect herself… well. maiden, unicorn. lol
is it then an iteration of the gentle hand? that’s a more interesting question, because salem’s abuse of cinder is really quite a lot more like rhodes than the madame, but then there’s also… the reversal. rhodes’ affection for cinder is restricted by his interest in protecting the madame, and when cinder disobeys him he attacks her presumably with the intent to arrest her for murder. whereas salem has repeatedly and increasingly rearranged her plans for cinder’s benefit, and when cinder disobeys her, she reconsiders her treatment of cinder and offers an apology.
and obviously—
Tumblr media Tumblr media
—we have the way rhodes touches cinder’s head, which at best makes her tense up in discomfort and at worst scares her so much she kills him to make him stop, mirrored in the same episode by salem offering her hand and cinder choosing to take it.
salem is not by any stretch of the imagination good to cinder, but midnight places her in juxtaposition with the madame and rhodes in order to clarify the difference between salem and the parent-figures of cinder’s childhood. it’s salem who tells cinder that she isn’t nothing, that she deserves better, that she was right to become defiant when salem was cruel to her. it’s salem who gives cinder a choice to let salem touch her or not.
everyone who gets where the wind is blowing with cinder understands, because it is obvious, that her turnaround is going to be incited by someone showing her mercy, which will shatter her view of the world and open a door for her to change. but… that “someone” is salem. it is literally already happening.
the first crack is salem telling her you deserve so much more than i’ve given you, as she pulls cinder to her feet.
and cinder doesn’t know how to parse that, she has no frame of reference except the madame and rhodes and she’s superimposed them both onto salem; the discrepancies, the pieces that don’t fit, are small right now. they will get larger, and the cracks will keep widening until the looking glass breaks.
which is why the grimm arm is related to the collar in the specific way that it is, with cinder flashing back to her childhood and the pain salem inflicts ending when cinder shifts emotionally from helpless fear to defiance and salem then explicitly affirming the rightness of cinder’s anger. the moral of the glass unicorn narrative according to rhodes is that what cinder did is unforgivable, and she will never escape it; the moral according to salem is that cinder did the right thing, and deserves better. the symbolic function of the grimm figurines in the glass unicorn narrative is to represent cinder’s self-protective anger. salem, grimm, uses cinder’s grimm arm to make a point that cinder should get angry when salem mistreats her, and then rewards her for being defiant.
is that a really fucked up way for salem to make that point YES OBVIOUSLY but no one else is even trying. lol
little steps.
(whispers into a cup) the grimm arm is also a metaphor for learning to be vulnerable and trust others not to harm you
cinder feels its pain. when it’s severed, it hurts, but also grows back. it’s both powerful (superbly strong, inhuman flexibility) and vulnerable (aura can’t protect it). salem can use it to hurt her; it connects them both together, so salem knows she’s alive and cinder knows when she’s back. it refused to bond with cinder until she let go of her fear and welcomed it.
the shattering trauma that made her what she is now was rhodes telling her that defending herself made her an irredeemable monster. the grimm figurines in her childhood story symbolize cinder’s desire to defend herself. the grimm arm is part of her body that connects her to salem in a way that salem can abuse to hurt her, but salem is also the first character to look cinder in the eye and tell her that she is right to defend herself. both cinder and salem are in the early stages of developing villain -> hero arcs.
your newfound strength brings with it a crippling weakness, salem says. remember that it comes with a cost. take care to protect yourself; there is only so much i can do to aid you. cinder wants to be strong, but she is terrified of weakness, and it is the terror of weakness that drives her, that must be faced, that must be resolved before she can find peace. her story isn’t about “learning to be satisfied with the power she already has” it’s about learning to be okay with being vulnerable. with having weaknesses.
like an arm she can’t shield with aura, that grows back when it’s severed, which she feared and then hid in discomfort and now accepts as a part of herself. just because salem can hurt her doesn’t mean that salem is incapable of choosing not to. salem could also, like, smash cinder into a gory pancake with a snap of her fingers.
it’s a story. about trust.

i know that a lot of people take issue with the fact that pakku only agrees to teach katara because he realizes that she’s the granddaughter of the woman he tried to get with a bajillion years ago, but i actually see that moment of him realizing that kanna left to escape their marriage as a moment of self-reflection from him. like, imagine having to contend with the fact that your rancid vibes drove the love of your life away after having just publicly humiliated her fourteen year old granddaughter who was begat on the literal other side of the earth because how that’s far she went to escape him. sokka gets the moment of realizing “oh, men and woman are ontologically equal in their capacities, and divisions between genders are socially assigned and arbitrary,” but that isn’t really pakku’s deal at all. pakku’s deal is more like, “oh, my unyielding insistence on adhering to and imposing unjust patriarchal traditions actually makes me deeply unpleasant to be around and drives my loved ones away. maybe I should take a fucking chill pill perhaps.”
like, the fact that katara ultimately loses the fight and nothing she actually says or does persuades him is interesting, because it means that his reflection is internal, his moment of revelation not brought about by didactic moralizing, but through taking a long, hard look in the mirror, and realizing that being kind is more important than being right. and that’s why he seems to make an effort to be friendlier and more helpful, more so than making any effort to become a male feminist and fight for women’s rights. sokka, for example, initially has a narrow view of gender because his worldview is limited and then it expands, but pakku, by contrast, is literally a member of the white lotus; he is old and worldly, so he clearly already understands that their tribe’s traditions are not ontologically necessitated, but he nonetheless supports them because they benefit him. it is only when he learns that the love of his love literally escaped their tribe and left behind everything she ever knew just to avoid him that he decides to reevaluate his staunch insistence on clinging to his patriarchal values. and who wouldn’t. i mean, that’s gotta fucking hurt!
i know that katara’s fight against him does feel like a grand feminist moment as she fights for her ideals and her rights as a girl, and to her (and to us as the audience) it certainly does feel that way, but to pakku, his change of heart is one of realizing that he should probably stop being an asshole to every woman he’s ever met while he still has a few good years left. a core motif of katara’s arc is that she cannot actually preach her ideals and simply enlighten every asshole she meets, as much as she’d certainly like to; enlightenment comes from within. and so it is pakku’s regrets that motivate him to be kinder, because it’s never too late to change for the better. and that’s kind of beautiful actually.

A DC X DP #18
You want a taste of my brain? Okay, it's yours anyway.
Imagine dis…
This time I get inspiration from an A03 fic, and some of its parts just stuck with me and now I’m writing about it, if some of you want to read it go for it. If you are asking for the name don’t ask, I am not going to sell my soul to the devil to find it in my ever-growing history. If you do manage to find it, kudos to them.
TELL ME I AM GETTING DESPERATE OVER HERE
Credits to them as well. Also, as you’ve noticed I decided to post less, now it is due to a good old lack of inspiration. So, don’t go getting your hopes up on this one.
Ever since Danny Phantom had become the Ghost King he repeatedly entered the reincarnation cycle willingly to retain his morals when he was human. He still retained his ability to stay in the middle of life and death. But when he as the High King of the Infinite Realms gained immortality he found himself losing his ideals and values, he began forgetting. With Clockwork’s insistence, every few hundred years he would become human to experience a lifetime. Sometimes he would go another round in the same dimension, but only when he needed to finish an unfinished business.
Sometimes he is lucky sometimes he is not.
Sometimes he would be born into a loving family with either as the only child or him having siblings. He has experienced the life of royalty as the heir prince. He experienced the life of a knight who was known for his skills with the sword. He was born into a normal family which made him second guesses his every choice due to his lack of normality in his life. He was also born into some wild dimensions that of which could look like it came from a book. From wizards and sci-fi worlds, he never had the time to sit and be an extra.
But there were also times he was born far too unlucky.
He was born in a salve ridden society, a parent who were core members of a rebellion so when his current parents died, he was expected to be like his parents. Born in a society where the rich trample the poor and he was forced into early child labor as expected in society to work at a very young age. Born where he and the people around him had never seen peace in a war-consumed country, a war that separated his family from each other not knowing whether one is alive or not, leaving only him and his siblings to stay alive. Being abandoned by a pair of druggies for his parents left alone inside a dumpster and died in the middle of the night, looking through the dimension he saw that some homeless people found his body and reported it to the authorities leaving his parents in jail while some prisoners seem to leave them at the near bottom of the hierarchy in prison.
It seems this time he was born in an assassin cult this time he wasn’t alone. A twin, an older sibling that was with him in the womb and both came into the world together. The moment he laid his eyes on his grandfather he can already tell that he is a major fruit loop from the way he both look at both of them.
His name is too formal for his liking, Dylan Al Ghul, he already convinced Damian to call him Danny when it was just the two of them. Danny tries to downplay his abilities both ghost and human seeing that his grandfather is too power-hungry to the point of misusing ectoplasm that is corrupted but still ectoplasm to achieve some sort of immortality, he tried to give Damian a childhood in the form of showing him the stars whenever he could sneak him outside. He saw the absolute worship and awe Damian would give to their mother and their grandfather whenever they visit or supervised their training, Danny didn’t care for their approval nor their presence but seeing his brother seem to at awe and do anything to please the two made his heart shatter, his older brother never needed to prove anyone something.
Danny has repeatedly shown his disdain for the two most powerful people in the organization yet it is a miracle he still lives. It is because he is a spare, a spare yes not the heir but a useful spare one, twins one who specialized in stealth and espionage a twin who is a perfect copy of Damian aside from his eyes mirroring their supposed father. Both Talia and Ra seem to make it their life mission to drill his only purpose in his head, it may have never worked due to his adult mind but he pretended it would be as to not raise any suspicion.
The day Deathstroke attacked not only he dared to kill the demon head but also choose to kill the chosen heir, by removing an eye and some of his organs as a form of slow torture but also killing him as he made the organs unable to go back to their owner’s body.
Danny couldn’t look away from his bloodied brother, Talia slowly approached him from behind and put her hands on his shoulder, and whispered some honeyed words on how his role as the spare will be fulfilled at a much earlier date and promptly injected with a sleeping drug.
Danny was already awake when he noticed the cold metal bed behind him the lack of clothes as well the number of doctors seemingly in a rush to prepare for a last-minute surgery. He saw the unconscious form of Damian on the other side and suddenly heard the loud ticking noise of a grandfather’s clock.
It seems that it was meant to be, Danny thought as an image of Clockwork flashed in his mind.
He fell back asleep knowing that Damian lost an eye, kidney, a lung, some ribs as well an ungodly amount of blood, possibly more. Danny knew that this vessel of his wouldn’t survive at the sheer need and he already felt that he would not leave the room alive. So, he took one last peek at the sleeping Damian and promptly closed his eyes, the moment he opened his eyes once again he was back in his chambers in the Infinite Realms clutching his left eye in his face whilst looking at the mirror as he felt his eye be the first one to be removed.
It seems this time he died months before he and his brother celebrated their 10th birthday.
Damian woke up with a pounding headache being the assassin he is he immediately looked around seeing that his last memory is being tortured by Deathstroke.
He immediately took notice of his loose clothing and tried to walk towards the door but his knees immediately gave out. As he tries to gain his bearings, he noticed a scar right in the middle of his chest, it couldn’t be from the time when he was captured by Deathstroke as he noticed that this scar is too clean, too sterilized as if someone had just come out of a surgery type of scar. As he tries to loosen his shirt to take a better look at his scar when he noticed a mirror facing his way and noticed his eyes, instead of his usual pair of emerald eyes he was greeted with an emerald eye of his own and his brother’s icy blue eye in his left eye.
Damian remembered that Deathstroke took out his eye, as according to him it reminded him of the Demon head, and decided to promptly pull it out with his bare hands.
Dread began to fill his very being and tried to go and look for his brother but deep down he already knew what happened to him after all, he is the heir while his brother his beloved younger brother is just a spare.
When Damian had met his father’s wards most of them commented on his heterochromia eyes and promptly greeted back with his sword in their faces.
The rest grumbled that Damian couldn’t take a tease or two, but immediately chased the demon brat as he chases each and one of them with the intent to kill.
Damian couldn’t tell them; another son was hidden from Bruce. Another son he had failed, another son who died before they could even meet him.
From the first few interactions he had with his father when he first met him, he knew where his brother’s bleeding heart came from.
Sometimes he could still see him, Dyl- no Danny, every time he looks in the mirror. The constant reminder that his brother was seen by the league as nothing but a spare. Whatever love he had for his mother disappeared the moment he laid his sight at his brother’s eye embedded in his supposed empty eye socket.
The constant reminder that shows every time he looks at the mirror and the scar in the middle of his chest, Danny’s organs that were used on him to ensure his survival while Danny was left behind.
He was 14 years old when he went wide-eyed at the stranger across him and his brothers in a heavily populated area.
A teen looks exactly like him with a medical eyepatch on his left eye as he sits in a wheelchair chatting idly with an older man.
Damian heavily thought of a clone, did Talia, not mother never mother, make another clone after him after weeks of silence?
Damian still remembered the first time he encountered a clone with blue eyes, his running theory is that due to his new organs have bonded with him thus creating a batch of clones with blue eyes. Timothy had spoken up that since babies have a 50/50 chance of inheriting the colored eyes of either parent made a new branch of clones.
Damian was already planning on disposing of the supposed clone when the said clone suddenly laughed exposing his neck that have a feign white line across indicating a scar. But that scar made Damian double guess, all clones he encountered are scarred free thus leaving him to have no trouble disposing of each and one of them but the existence of the scar he barely caught is something both brothers swore secrecy to it.
The laugh oh god, his laugh, only his brother laughs like that, Damian thought mournfully.
As he tries to look the other way, he suddenly faced the same doctor who was the assistant doctor that foresees his surgery years ago. He may have distanced himself from the League after he had fulfilled his debt but it was no mistaking that it was the same doctor that operated him that time.
A chemist they said, an insufficient man who is more cowardly than any other man yet his talent in poisons made him quite a gem in the League.
A clone who had broke out of their collective mind control? Possible, but why this clone? What made this look alike so special that this man dared to leave the League?
Robin began to follow the two, the other bats thought that he had a new case on his lap that requires recon. They didn’t question Robin’s new behavior as they have seen him do the same actions when he landed himself a case or when he was following a lead. Yet they couldn’t shake the feeling that something is not right, whether it is the fact that Robin refused any assistance or just the fact they have no idea what kind of case Robin is working on.
They should have listened to their guts then maybe they wouldn’t be surprised at the bat screen, showing a maternal and paternal match to a picture of a blue-eyed black-haired kid with a medical eyepatch on his left eye looking like Damian in a good day.
Danny was doing some paperwork when a flying thought passed by him about his last reincarnation. All memories from his adventures when he got reincarnated are usually put behind the back of his hand yet worries about the well-being of his brother made him distracted, and kept close a special one-way mirror to monitor his baby brother.
Danny felt nostalgic at the family drama and chaos that he can’t help but cackle at each interaction Damian has with their father’s adopted children and wards. He found himself majorly of his time watching for hours and hours, he can’t help but wish he was there. As if he was summoned Clockwork appeared in front of him and told him to go back, which confuses Danny since it was Clockwork who implemented that he cannot go back to the same dimension/ world if his body is too far gone to be revived by him, yet Clockwork told him to give someone named Alfred his regards and vanished. Looking bewildered at his mentor/ grandfather he tried to sense his vessel with little to no hope seeing that the League has his body, but surprises himself when he felt his own body submerged in a portion of the Lazarus pit.
Going back, he was greeted by an assistant doctor that used to be in the League due to his ancestor’s debt. He explained that he cannot in good conscience do what he was instructed to after the operation, stole his body, and submerged it in an undiscovered pit due to its small size, enough to dump a child not enough for a grown adult.
After an initial check-up, both he and the doctor discovered that the mini Lazarus pit regenerated all of his organs except his eye seeing that it was his entire body submerged excluding his head. The assistant doc theorized that those organs of his may be weaker since they were generated from nothing, Danny in all his eldritch glory as well as being the most powerful being across the Infinite Realms played his part perfectly of a now disabled child.
After all who would accuse this disabled child putting the daughter of the Demon Head in an endless nightmare by his command to Fright Knight? Who would accuse that innocent blue eye of his that he had killed any assassin in their tail ever since he and his now temporary guardian began exploring the world? Who would accuse an adorable child that he was the one who had put the Joker in a definite MIA? Who would accuse this child who smiles like the sun despite his setbacks be the one who tortured Deathstroke to the brink of insanity? Danny is pretty sure his temporary guardian knew of his secret endeavors but remained quiet due to his habit when he was in the League or just to prevent any grayer hairs from growing in.
Now if only his brother stopped moping around the building across their apartment complex and just come inside, he made his infamous fudge to share with his brother. His brother didn’t have to drag the rest of the bat brigade in watching him across the building, he even made extra fudge, if only they could just go through the front door instead of rescuing him first in every rogue attack and pretend, they don’t him. Well, if they are playing a game then count him in to win. But for some reason all of them made a face of being constipated whenever they talk to him, Danny is so sure he used clean ingredients to make his fudge…
God dammit just enter the front door like a normal person, better yet tell Batman to stop looking at him as if he died! Those windows are not paying to fix themselves each time one of them decided to stop dropping and roll every other night!

#0003 mars and their ideals
where venus is the ideal feminine for the man, mars is the ideal masculine for the female. traits the female may exhibit from her mars will be searched for in the man
(+ personal observations)
aries mars — a fighter, an over-achiever
these women will want the most fiery, the most dramatic, and the most spontaneous men out of them all. they crave adventure and deep stimulation that is not only mental but physical and spiritual also. these women rely on their impulses to keep them going and will want a man so attuned to his own impulses, he doesn’t know where to put himself. she wants to be put on adventures so little and so huge. she wants someone to explore with, to mentally grow with. somewhere she can go and learn. she wants someone who is dramatic and self-assured in who they are and what they want. she will want someone who encourages her to push her boundaries and to broaden her outlook on life. she looks at life with a large and broad perspective and will not settle for someone who restricts her on thinking big or narrows her vision to only one or two things
men who are forthright, direct, and independent will attract this female. these women like someone who doesn’t settle and keeps on the move. strong, macho men are attractive to these women also. they need someone who is aggressive and blunt in the way they move and speak. she will be attracted to men who are brave and initiate. she is the type to put pressure on the people she likes and will expect this also. she wants someone who goes after what they want. she will look for a man that is certain of his sexuality and is certain of his sexual capability. she, herself, is very sexual, and will look for a man that aligns with her libido. she will look for a man that is sexual and lustful. she wants to physically connect through the body but also connect through spirit. there needs to be drama, fire, and feelings in sex. she will feel most happy when she finds a man that matches her libido because sex, to her, is an act of self-expression
she may date men who are macho and cold. the men she dates may not be overly emotional, but she will require her man to be possessive. while she values personal space and independence, she will have a deep attachment to her lover and will want only him. she, too, wants a man that only wants her. she is very impulsive in everything she does and says and would expect her man to be the same
displays of affection might not be a regular occurrence, but there will be an attraction between her and her ideal so strong, sexual tension and chemistry will reign through and throughout the relationship. she will be the type to not get enough of her lover, all while he struggles to keep his hands off her as well. this is a touchy and affectionate placement and the woman will most definitely want a man that doesn’t wallow in his feelings or dramatise them. she is not overly ignorant of emotions but prefers them not taking over in everything she does
— 🌸 — 🌸
taurus mars — a gentle beast, the most humble lover
this woman prefers the silent type. she does not go for men that overly exert themselves or the men who share too much of themselves. she is one to respect traditional values and has high morals. she looks for a man that respects and/or reflects these morals. she does not go for someone who is overly aggressive or spontaneous; she needs someone much more comforting, quieter, a lot more nurturing
she needs a man who works hard and has a stable footing in his life. she likes men who know how to manage money and how to make money. she needs someone resilient and disciplined. she holds a confidence that is silent and is displayed through her wealth of money, belongings, and wisdom. she does not cry for other people’s attention. she is not needy for other people. so, she would look for a man that is of the same calibre. she wants a man that doesn’t require anyone else’s validation but his own
she offers her devout loyalty to the man who does the same. she does not look for adventure or new horizons with her lover, but finds excitement through things much more sentimental. cooking, touching, and gifts are a few of her expressions of affection, and she will require a man that values her and appreciates her. someone to reinstate that yes, she is a strong woman, and that she is supported. she needs someone who is not frail to feelings and doesn’t melt when sad. she does, however, look for a man that knows to control his anger, his upset, and his love. she wants a man that touches her, a man that sends her gifts and shows her his appreciation through tangible things. but also, to show her his appreciation through acts of service and simply being there for her
a taurus’ love runs deep and pure, however it may seem on the outside. they are purely romantic and will expect their lover to uphold romantic values in the relationship. these women are highly sexual and will need a man that can reflect her sensuality and extreme displays of passion. someone who can take her affection and care. someone who is loyal to her and only her. emotions will run wild between her and her man but she will need a man who doesn’t drown at the sight of them, but instead tempers them gently. someone who, to the outside world, is cold and unavailable, masculine and uninterested, but to her, is always available, is always in love, is always ready to give love
her expressions may seem slow and timid initially, but this is also a method in which she can root out people who are authentic. whoever stays and is patient with her, will have her attention and loyalty. she does not open easily but once open, will remain open. she wants a man that honours her fear of opening up and gives her the necessary space to grow and to let her feelings roam. she is not overly sensitive in general but will become sensitive to him; if he is not sensitive to her needs and feelings also, she will feel insecure. in general, she will date men who are cold and detached. she will be attracted to men that don’t show much, fully knowing there is something underneath his veil. she may date men who are on a certain material plane or have some sort of financial benefit to them
— 🌸 — 🌸
gemini mars — a curious man, the smartest lover
these women want a man that is aware of his surroundings. she doesn’t want a man that only thinks of himself and his home; she looks for someone who is constantly on the move and is always learning. this placement can make someone obsessive over education, travel, or learning. she will want someone who is well-educated and eternally curious. in order for her to pursue any relationship, she must have a mental connection with her lover. her fickleness in emotions is usually reprimanded by her ability to stimulate her partner mentally and intellectually. her inability to understand deep feelings is made up by challenging her partner through games. and thus, she does not look for someone who is gushy or gooey in relationships. she does not look for someone who wants to commit immediately. she wants a man that knows his personal freedom and honours hers. she looks for a man totally confident in himself and his ability to take care of himself. she, herself, is confident, and can be a player. she isn’t necessarily looking for “the one”, nor does she expect someone to look at her as “the one.” if someone sees her as this, she may feel restricted. even certain labels may eventually drain her energy and her efforts at love will diminish
childish and playful by heart, she does not look for a man that is serious or overly concerned with material things. as long as she can express her feelings and affection in a way that is light-hearted and unserious, she will be happy. high standards put on her will make her more unpredictable than normal as she will feel as though she has to restrict and “control” her energy instead of gladly expressing it as it is
these women don’t necessarily commit, but they will stay with the person as long as she feels the mental rapport going. intellect, wittiness, and versatility are all turn-ons for these woman. they appreciate men who know how to adapt to any and all situations; they fall in love with those who know things and want to know more. she is concerned with intelligence so much she may feel a certain superiority over her man. she wants someone open-minded and someone who has a broad view on love, sex, and life in general. she may be progressive or strange when it comes to sex or it may lack completely. this, she will look for in a partner
these women will appreciate a man that keeps her guessing. like mentioned, she is not concerned with material things. she remembers little things about her partner and knows how to please him. she will expect her man to do the same
— 🌸 — 🌸
cancer mars — a children’s man, a masculine man
these women may prefer men who are built. when they look for a man they look for someone who can protect them rather than someone more feminine or leaner. they look for the typical masculine that’s macho, built, but sensitive to family. because she has such close ties to family and children, she will express herself in ways that are motherly, nurturing, supportive. in order for her to feel valued and respected, she must receive the room from her man to do this. he may be as masculine as he wants to be but if he doesn’t realise emotions need to glow behind closed doors, she will not be interested. she needs to have an emotional connection in which she can safely love and be loved back. men who are big in size but bigger in the heart are attractive to these women. if there is no emotional connection, she will feel void and will either stay in the hopes of eventually achieving one, or leave altogether. she will be protective over her man at whatever cost
children and family are important to these women, and so she will look for someone who reflects this. this placement looks for someone to love and to marry. and whoever she chooses, she will want to have them for life. for many women, there is a breeding or a mommy kink involved, and she would want her man want this as well
sensitivity and generosity are key for this woman. she is romantic and expects her man to notice it. she is affectionate and gooey when it comes to loving her man. compliments, food, and loyalty are only some of the things she offers to her man. her unconditional love and constant yearning for her man will always make the man feel truly loved, though she must feel the same coming from him. however, these women can over-sacrifice themselves for nothing. she is willing to give up everything for her man and still feel insecure she’s not giving enough or getting anything back. she will feel as though her value is tied to what she can support her man with rather than how her love influences him. she will have mood swings and may actually find it attractive if he has them as well
she may marry men that are overly cold in hopes of tempering him. she wants to be the one that softens the biggest man’s heart. she will be attracted to men that are built in size and display little to no attention to her in hopes of eventually wooing him with her allure. she is a passive woman when it comes to action and prefers when her man is the one that takes action. she may marry out of habit or for security if she, herself, doesn’t feel secure. she craves honesty and the purest love imaginable but seems to get out of control when she gets ahold of someone. she will constantly search for someone who matches a certain level of compassionate but masculine. she may be picky
— 🌸 — 🌸
leo mars — a protector, an extension of her pride
she looks for someone she can be proud of and to grow with. she is enigmatic and self-assured. confident and buoyant, she is a playful person, and will emphasise the focus of play in her relationships. she looks for a man can appreciate adventure and fun; a man that plays, wanders, explores. she is attentive and will look for a man that is attentive also. vain, she will look for a man that appreciates her through words, touch, thought. she needs a man that is confident in who he is and what he wants out of life and out of relationships. she will be attracted to men that stimulate her mind and make her feel valued and attractive. she is attracted to men that are gaudy, men that flaunt, and men that are proud
these women look for things to be constantly impressed by. she will look to impress her man in the way she dresses, speaks, and through what she has. she will also look at her man and establish an opinion based on what he earns, has, or in the way he dresses and presents himself. she will want to look good at all times with her man. she needs someone who is optimistic and lucky; someone who is charming and magnetic. she looks for someone whose energy is as large as hers. she looks for someone who she can flaunt. someone who is as proud as she is
romantic, she is obsessed with love and will look for a man as obsessed as her. she may be a sentimental woman who appreciates the littlest things and will want a man that can appreciate and value little things in the relationship. she will want someone who can offer constant reassurance and praise. someone who can woo her all the time and show she is loved and valued. any leo placement tends to romanticise and idealise love too much, and she may have such an innocent version of love that is unrealistic and has unachievable standards. her self-esteem may be so high she feels undeserving of anything below her false construction she has created in her mind. really, she is scared of imperfection and is threatened by having something that is not in alignment with her desires. she wants someone to pour their heart over hers in compliments, praises, and affection. she wants someone who is touchy and clingy and will want someone who constantly needs her attention. she will see herself as a provider, though will want this from her man as well. she really just wants to have someone she can be proud of, to support, to mother
she offers unconditional love and loyalty, but only if he offers the same. she looks for a man that looks at her and only her. she is wildly sexual and will need a man that matches her libido and can sexually please and satisfy her. sex will be an important form of self-expression and she will need someone who wholeheartedly sees sex as something to pay attention to. she is deeply nurturing and supportive and will move mountains to show her love towards her man, though she will want the same. she wants a man that dedicates all his time and effort towards her. a man that becomes needy and clingy for her. she is turned on by men who are very masculine and express it confidently
— 🌸 — 🌸
virgo mars — the “perfect” man, the gentlest lover
these women look for a man that is refined, quiet, and resilient. they are not the type to go for a man that is showy or loud. instead, they prefer men who act and move in silence. these women approach life with specific values and virtues that must be honoured and respected
women with this placement are attracted to men that are clean and neat. they look for someone they can relate with through daily life rather through ostentatiousness or some special spiritual connection. she is attracted to men aware of their social duty/responsibility and someone who concerns himself with money and materials. she needs a man that works hard. glamour doesn’t allure her to any man, but their ability to stay humble, neat, and loyal in relationships
she looks for a man that knows good manners and knows how to carry himself. she is attracted to men that speak calmly, act calmly, and are charming. these women’s romantic life may lack in their lives but when in love, will be simple and sentimental. they will value service to their partner and pick serving him over gushy romance. grand serenades aren’t her thing, and she doesn’t want it to be his either. she prefers him taking care of her by helping her, by offering himself to her, cooking for her, cleaning for her, working hard to provide for both of them
there is a need for her man to be socially aware of others. liking animals and having pity for humans is a must. there needs to be no disconnect between him and the outside world; he needs to realise that he is not alone in this world, and that there are people who suffer and need help, and they must be ready to help them
this placement remains more earthy than any other earth mars. they are as analytical as ever; they are observant, they overthink, they are quiet. their energy will be directed towards material matters and she would expect a man who is modest and is analytical as she is. she needs someone to keep her energy grounded. she needs someone who will support her through his actions rather than trying to push her boundaries and encourage her to try new things. this placement loves control and perfection and if she notices something is out of place, she will have no trouble putting it back or leaving it altogether. she is not looking for someone to tell her what to do, or a slave, but someone who wants to go about their normal lives while still being in love. love must be experienced through a wholehearted experience but not through grand displays of affection. handholding and gentle kisses suffice. if she is interested in someone but they are not financially grounded or are not concerned with social status, or the outside world, or have a weak work ethic, she will have no issue cutting them out
these women may have high standards for others that are hard to achieve. like other earth mars, she sees relationships as a team or a partnership in which both must work together to achieve a mutual goal, while also having someone to retreat to. her feelings may not run intensely deep but they still run. and she will need someone who is supportive and is as nurturing as she is. so she may date men who are cold for the sole reason of not attaching too deeply or feeling as though she needs to feel more, despite not wanting to. she doesn’t look for men who need a soulful attachment. she may date men with money or who have a prominent place in society
— 🌸 — 🌸
libra mars — a soft-hearted man, an affectionate lover
these woman are extremely refined in the way they dress, look, or act. they are not ones for rude manners, vulgarity, or abuse. when she looks for a man she looks for someone soft-hearted, affectionate, and more feminine than masculine. rough edges and sharp corners are not for her as they would be for, say, cancer mars. she looks for a man that is willing to please her; someone that wants to woo her and will, at whatever cost necessary. in general, she will play games with her lover. she will constantly keep him guessing. this may come from her wanting mental stimulation; an air mars, her mind will constantly be on the move. her energy is not debilitated and, if anything, is set afire. she is very articulate and gentle in the way she moves and speaks, but she really moves and speaks. personal independence will be important to her but also cooperation and willingness to work together. she is a team-player who respects personal space but lacks it when in a relationship. she becomes devoured by the feelings that come with all of it and she becomes clingy, needy, and obsessive. she forgets the feeling of what it’s like to be alone and gets attached to her man’s energy so much, she must always be with him
she looks for someone who is charming and can adhere to her mind games. someone who flirts in the way they move and touch her. she is very idealistic and dreamy in love and may have many fantasies of love and the type of man that she wants. these women need stimulation so much that they may have many men in their mind, even when they have the perfect one right at their feet. they love to search for perfection and aesthetics and may be picky when it comes to relationships. she needs her man to be perfect but continue being perfect rather than giving her a reason to look at someone else’s beauty
these woman look for beauty in everything they do or in everything they participate in. she may date men who live a lavish lifestyle or are working for one. she may date someone involved with the law or is in a humanitarian position. she may also look for someone who has money or is very wealthy. above all, however, she is very feminine, and there is no doubt to what she likes and dislikes. she dislikes anything that is too cruel and ugly. war, abuse, and poverty make her depressed, but flowers, colours, and love make her happy. she is not ready to deal with things that are harsh on the soul. she may be the type to avoid conflict and is why she looks for someone that isn’t abrasive in the way they argue or the way they speak. she needs a gentle soul that recognises she is sensitive and anything he says must be refined
someone who takes care of their body, will attract these women. they look for cleanliness and may be neat-freaks. marriage may be something she would do out of security or impulse. in general, she needs someone who is light-hearted and prefers playing than obsessing over the world’s woes. she needs someone that is willing to explore with her; sexually or physically, through travel and the like. she needs a man that isn’t too laid-back but also isn’t so fiery she feels intimidated by his energy. she also needs someone to gladly mirror. she is a woman that naturally picks up people’s opinions and habits. she wants to do everything her man does, think what he thinks. she really is a hopeless romantic that loves love so much, she becomes engulfed by the other person
— 🌸 — 🌸
scorpio mars — a soulful man, the neediest lover
her relationship with her man must be soulful and wholesome. there needs to be a purpose for her love. loyalty, obsession, and constant yearning must be prevalent between the two. she needs to feel wanted at all times; when she is with her man, and when she is not. she wants to feel her lover’s imprint on her day and night. she wants a man who sees her and only her. a man who touches, kisses, and dreams of her and only her. she is very romantic and appreciates sentimentality and romance from her man also
the woman’s magnetism may attract many men. however, this allure is only vanity. the woman will only pick out the man that matches her discipline, willpower, and drive. she needs a man that knows no boundaries when achieving what he wants. she needs someone certain in what he wants and how he is going to do it. there is a power dynamic between her and her man, and will dislike men who cannot submit to her or their desires. and while she shows that she is well capable of taking care of herself, will still want someone she can nurture, take care of, and love. if he chooses her, she will indefinitely choose him. she will baby him, constantly think of him, always yearn for him. this, too, will be wanted in her man. she wants someone as obsessed with her as she is with them. someone who constantly wants her, needs her, misses her. someone who is so entranced and into her he can’t seem to get enough of her. she wants to be wanted badly and indefinitely. she will have great love for him but only if he is ready to return the same level of intensity. if he recognises love and sex as something spiritual rather than earthly, and doesn’t date for fun, then she will keep him close and hold him down
deep passion is a necessity. there must be a spiritual purpose in what they do; feelings that lie on the surface are not good enough. they have to run through blood and nerves and pulse through the soul in waves that are overwhelmingly strong. she needs someone she can devour soulfully. someone to transcend with. there must be an ego death with her lover and an embrace of spiritual succession. full submission. loving confessions, touching, and neediness is all part of it. she needs to feel wanted by her man. if her man is willing to give her his undying love and loyalty, she will too. this isn’t the type of woman that wants the purest form of love, however. she wants the ugliest parts of it, the dirtiest, the most traumatic. she experiences love as a rebirth more than a duty she must accomplish
privacy is also very important. she is not the type to date and marry men who kiss and tell. any relationship that stays secret or hidden, is a happy relationship. she does not appreciate people knowing her business. the type of men she may date are: secretive/private, mysterious and cold to strangers, loyal, and “bad.” she may be attracted to dangerous thrill from men; she may date men that are toxic because she wants something dramatic, thrilling, different
— 🌸 — 🌸
sagittarius mars — an energetic man, an adventurous lover
men who are adventurous, uncanny, and generous are these women’s ideals. they need someone who is spiritually energetic. someone who looks at things from an objective and meaningful view. these women like to direct their energy towards things that are not only exciting, but also soulfully thrilling. when she gets involved with a man she has an intelligent connection with, only then will she feel a sexual pull towards him. she needs to feel as though her existence is heightened and her intelligence is challenged through engaging conversations and adventure. when she feels as though her mind is sufficiently stimulated by the man, she will become sexual with him. generally, these women are sexual in general anyway, but she will always yearn for a connection that is spiritual and sexually gratifying rather than sex that has no meaning other than to org@sm
being spontaneous herself, she will want someone who can match her energy. she will keep you guessing and she will be unpredictable. her independence will have to be matched by her man. she is not the type, really, to cuddle and sleep all the time and constantly stay in and exchange words of love to one another. she wants to see the world with her lover and allow her mind and spirit to grow alongside his. she wants to feel as though her life has meaning and that she can share the goodness with someone else rather than experiencing it alone. she may feel alone with all the ideas she has in her head and the philosophies she follows in life. she may feel as though she is misunderstood by many men as her morals don’t align with others’. this, she will look for company in her man; someone to do everything with, someone to experience love, abundance, and growth with
these women are very playful and require light-heartedness in their relationships. they are not attracted to the overly soft or the lovey-dovey. they are attracted to men who stand their ground, are independent, and are self-assured. someone who doesn’t focus on the feelings too much, but at the same time acknowledges them. someone who prefers seeing the world through an objective lens, rather than an emotional one. these women don’t require a certain status or a certain level of pay. they may be very picky in the man they like or want because they don’t want to settle for less than what they imagine in their head. they tend to do this because they want the perfect image in which they can be themselves. they are not afraid of judgment, but will feel threatened if they are thought to be weird or strange for the way they think. they search for a one on one bond to have with someone; a wholehearted connection that is shared between two dramatic people obsessed with one another
and speaking of picky, they will settle on the one man she knows is different. similar to men with venus in sagittarius, there must be a strong contrast between the one man and the rest of the world. if there is a divide between him and the rest, she will look at only him. she is a curious woman and needs plenty of mental stimulation and an intellectual relationship. sexual urges are well prominent in her but knows how to save herself for someone that actually means something. but above all, she is wildly sexual and looks for a man to have deep, passionate sex with. sex that is riveting to the soul and is very healing
even in committed relationships, she may need spontaneity and independence. personal space is important to her and she may have boundaries regarding her personal space. she will take these boundaries seriously as her independence is the one factor that keeps her separate from everyone else. if she is in a relationship in which she feels consumed by her lover and not freed, she will suffer. her spirit will diminish and she will be unhappy. this, she may date men who are emotionally unavailable and give her lots of freedom. she is not the type to care and want to constantly baby and nurture her man, but she is very generous to him, and looks for this generosity also. she looks for a man that shares what he had with others — whether it be physical (money) or intangible (wisdom, intelligence)

capricorn mars — a reliable lover, a family man
traditional values and ethics will be of utmost importance. this woman is independent and knows how to take care of herself and needs someone to merely accompany her in her growth. she is a leader by heart and will take charge in taking what she wants out of life. she needs a man who is the same. she values reliability, sincerity, and honesty. she does not love for the sake of it, for the sex, for the fling that comes out of all of it. she loves and dates for the long-term, for marriage. she takes commitment seriously and if she notices energy that is unaligned to hers, she will have no issue leaving. and if she feels her independence is threatened, she will have no issue leaving at this either
she needs a man that knows emotional control. she does not want a man who spills his emotions all over the floor in failure to hold them. she needs a man who will prove his masculinity to her; someone who knows how to work, knows how to make money for himself, knows how to provide. she needs a man that will match her need for a successful future and a high social status. she wants someone to grow with rather than use for growth. and her growth may come in many forms; to grow financially, in terms of family and children, etc.
and while she may want a man that is cold to the world and detached to other women, she wants him to show her his love in more than just words and admissions. she will look for physical affection; hand-holding, gripping, caressing, all of it. she has a strong connection to her body and what turns her on and off. she wants her man to know her body inside out; she wants him to run his hands all over it, to gaze at it, to accept it and love it
she is deeply loyal and ambitious. she does not stop at any hinderance, but uses it as a step to grow. she persists, no matter the energy needed for it to work. she may be a pessimist but she is kind-hearted and devoutly supportive of her lover. her self-esteem is high and she knows how to steady herself. slow to anger, she needs a man that has boundaries, that distances himself when necessary, and knows how to control his emotions
she may date men that have a high social status or work towards it. she may date older men or men who have strong footing in the world. financial stability is a must for this placement. a man who knows how to manage his money and knows how to look for further riches, has her eye
— 🌸 — 🌸
aquarius mars — an unconventional man, a free man
this woman would be most attracted to men who are unconventional in their style. weirdness is attractive to them. for this placement, the woman would naturally feel as though she is an independent woman who feels no need to adhere to traditional or conventional ways of being. she finds her own way in what she does and expects a man who does the same. she needs someone objective and rational, as she is like this also. she is attracted to a man that isn’t rigid, one that doesn’t stick to the rules, and prefers breaking them to make his own
there needs to be a mental rapport between the two for any further intimacy to occur. and while sex isn’t important to her, there is a playful element to this placement. this woman doesn’t need a man that takes everything seriously, but a man that knows when to act serious and when not to. mental stimulation is key to a happy relationship with this woman. if she feels as though the mental connection is not there, she will not pursue any further. she may be sexually liberated or have a lacking interest in it or simply have very progressive ideas about sex. this is what she will look for in her man also. however, it may be that she yearns for an intellectual march so strong and specific, she physically cannot have sex until it is achieved. someone who is open-minded about sex or about life in general, secures her loyalty. she may not be into marriage or children but I have still noticed some women that marry for the security or because they feel like they should
intelligence and conversation are very important to these women. while she wants you to be impressed by her intellect, she will look for the same in return. in general, she always wants to challenge the man but not in a way that is demeaning. rather, she just wants room for her energy to pour. and men who make her feel less independent or somewhat trapped, will have no hope in her commitment
she may be attracted to men that are unconventional but also humanitarian. men who care for the world in ways that concern not only nature but also humans. men who hold a certain sensitivity for others, especially the homeless or the oppressed. the man must be competent enough to challenge her mind and to keep up with her games. she may not be the type to get jealous and she will see love and relationships as a mutual exchange of affection and stimulation rather than something deep and for a lifetime
— 🌸 — 🌸
pisces mars — the dreamiest man, the tenderest lover
there is a strong need for sensitivity and generosity. this placement yearns for a man that is empathetic, sensitive, and gives easily. she needs someone she can sacrifice herself for, but a man who can also do the same for her. she needs a man that is emotionally expressive, open, and honest. a man who is ready to admit he loves her, a man who is ready to show her affection at all times. a man who compliments her and reassures her. macho men who hide behind their masculinity and logic are immediate turn-offs. and while she loves men that are physically aesthetic (sculpted in the face, are muscular/lean, and athletic), she needs someone who can submit to her as she does to him. she needs him to emotionally resonate with her and understand her complexity
and speaking of complexity, the woman needs someone who is willing to envelop themselves in a spiritual bond that is infinite, eternal, and obsessive. clinginess/neediness is strong with this placement; she needs to know she is wanted. she needs to know her man’s desire is her and only her. this can be a very insecure placement, though very nurturing and very loving all the same. commitment is given when the woman feels as though their emotional bond is stable enough to work from. if there is no emotional rapport with one another, the woman will feel vain and empty. to have a happy and loving relationship, there must be an honour and promise to exchange love — telepathically, mentally, emotionally, soulfully. really, she wants a man that can help her achieve the dream of being the perfect prince with the dreamiest, most romantic love
the woman must feel comfortable in giving aid to the man and not feeling as though she’s undeserving of the man. she wants someone to mother and take care of while also being babied. she needs to feel as though her efforts to care for the man are not in vain
she may be attracted to men that are helpless, unloved, and have low self-esteem. she typically plays the “saviour” in her relationships, in which she can “save” her man by providing him with the support nobody else gave him. she may want him to think she’s the only one that could ever love him, although this is a more extreme manifestation of this placement

wonbin's ideal type based on astrology pls
WONBINS IDEAL TYPE based on astrology
Tumblr media
(I just wanted to remind you that this is for fun and astrology is something I study as a hobby, these are all inferences based on observations and not facts unless I knew him myself !!)
Physical Appearances: Honestly the crazy thing is that both I and other readers whether it was astrology, tarot, or intuitive reading have gathered that Wonbin's type isn't hyper-specific look-wise or is vv simple. He likes glass skin, a clean look, a slender silhouette, dark hair, and someone with a unique and darker or even emo style or choice of aesthetic. So almost like...a gender-bent him lowkey LMFAO. Outside of that there isn't much for physicality due to the fact Pisces Venus tend to like the idealistic and abstract attributes to a person rather than exact physical attributes. He might also like people that express themselves in a way thats "cool" or "different"
Personality: He loves people that create their own things and can tap into their artistic abilities. Could be into people who make their own music/choreos/paintings. Someone who's chill and mature but still has an extroverted fun side to them. He wants someone he practically has telepathy with..able to know and understand how he feels with just a look; and know exactly what to do to. His chart hints at him possibly having the issue of people being with him off of his looks and aesthetic alone and not his actual personhood and him just going along with it. He just wants someone to give a fuck about him in a genuine way and not superficially/just off his looks. Someone with a very comforting and loving aura that will be able to take care of him ultimately. A person who knows when to smother him in affection but not make him feel like he's drowning with the clinginess. Physical touch as a way to express emotions when words are too overwhelming would be ideal as well. Someone very easy going and doesn't hold grudges and can work through things. However he likes just a sprinkle of toxicity just a weeeee small bit.
Mentality/Values: Someone who has being empathetic and nurturing within their moral compass, Lets him take the lead in a traditional sense but is able to be independent if needed, someone who doesn't just sit there when problems arise and takes initiative to help, has all or nothing thinking in -genuine- relationships just like him.
Extras: Idk how to best word this but someone who isn't afraid to "be cute" 😭, despite wanting someone with a more unique type of style he might want someone that can still "match his fly", also likes people that aren't fake nice like please don't infantilize him or he'll lose it
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Authors Note: Remember a person's type is changeable and astrology is a blueprint not the final product ALSO Sohee as your boyfriend will be posted TMR !!

hewwo can i ask for jouno, tetcho, tachihara and other if u want; with a s/o that is their ideal type, the person they needed
my missing piece
Tumblr media
synopsis - when they neet their perfect type
includes - tachihara, jouno, tecchou
warnings - gn!reader, fluff, wc - 714
a/n: hello! just a reminder that this is all my opinion!
taglist - @vi-chan07
Tumblr media
michizō tachihara ★↷
↪his ideal type would probably be somebody who is headstrong and quite independent. he's the undercover expert in the hunting dogs and is away for long periods of time so he'd prefer someone who is willing to wait that long for him to return.
↪but he also would love somebody who is able to take a joke and has a close to perfect work life balance. when he's with you he doesn't want either of you to think about work, he just wants to relax with you by his side and focus on silly disagreements such as what to have for dinner.
↪if he ever met somebody who was his ideal type, he'd freeze. his nerves would get the best of him and he be so hesitant to eventually ask you out even though you are everything he'd ever want in a person.
↪that being said, he isn't actually that picky when it comes to his perfect person. there is a lot he looks for in a person but if he loves someone he loves them. sure they'd still have a couple of qualities he's looking for but he knows he can't control who he ultimately falls for.
↪but finding his perfect person would bring him a huge sense of comfort. it would give him hope that you two would stay together through thick and thin.
saigiku jouno ★↷
↪he is extremely picky and particulate when it comes to deciding who he'd want to be with. it doesn't matter if you have every quality he's looking for, if he isn't in the right mindset he won't bat an eye. jouno doesn't exactly seek out a relationship and would easily pass along the opportunity to be with his ideal type if he wasn't ready.
↪however, some qualities he does look for is someone who openly speaks their mind with little regard for the consequences. he wants them to be open and honest with their feelings and not hide behind the ideas of others in order to please them or blend in.
↪he would also really like if his partner was morally grey like himself. he doesn't want someone who is so easily swayed to one side or another, no he wants someone who sits on the fence, who isn't afraid to use sketchy means but still keep to some basic moral grounds.
↪his blindness would never be an issue but you would have to prepare to help him occasionally. whether that be helping him within his or your accomodation or even just helping him de-stress by letting him listen to your heartbeat. just be prepared for him to get quite needy sometimes.
↪finding his perfect person would ultimately lead him to initially believe that he could finally get rid of the idea of relationships. however he would come to realise that he really couldn't live without you after a while, you understood him better than anyone else.
tecchou suehiro ★↷
↪he is one of the most least picky people when it comes to his ideal type. in fact, tecchou rarely thinks about having a relationship with someone but he would be another firm believer that you can't control who you fall in love with. you fall in love with who you fall in love with and you should try and make it work.
↪if he was asked who his ideal type was, he would say that he would like them to be adventurous and not afraid to take risks. he values confidence and wants someone who would willingly try new things - you probably would comr to curse your willingness to try new things when you were net with his food combinations.
↪self righteousness is another valuable quality in his opinion. he is a firm believer in justice and he needs someone who shares a strong belief in a similar field. similarly, someone who is quite driven would also be appealing to him. these qualities would give tecchou the confidence in his relationships.
↪when he finds his perfect person, he acts the same. the only difference is you and your constant presence in his life. now he seeks you out after the day is done, he basks in your company and wonders how he ever got by without you in his life.

whew! core lineup for Delta is complete, ft Rhea, Rem, Puck, and Raken.
Delta has an overall dream theme, the main conflict revolving around the Dream Queen trying to put people to sleep forever by giving them perfect, ideal dreams (well intentioned but obviously an issue haha)
Raken, as the nightmare lord, is working to counteract her and maintain balance with the help of his three henchmen, Rhea, Rem and Puck.
in terms of design themes, Rhea is dreams, Rem is nightmares, and Puck is daydreams 🫣
close-ups and more character details below
Tumblr media
Rhea was a lucid dreamer who fell out of her dream into the dreaming kingdoms. She really genuinely wants to do good and be good, and as such struggles with the moral greyness of intentionally giving people nightmares. She works very hard to find a "perfect" resolution. Rhea wants very badly to make everyone happy and have people like her, sometimes to a fault. Rem is her best friend and she is very close to Puck and Raken personally as well outside of being Coworkers™️. Shes optimistic and has an intense, perfectionistic ambitious drive.
Rem is...not as evil as he looks but he's not as straightforward as "yaaay lets be good people!" he is incredibly prone to bad, impulse decisions, and often jumps to conclusions. He really loves the people close to him but is convinced they dislike him or need more from him constantly which makes things Complicated. Halfway through the series, something happens such that Rem kind of snaps and goes sicko mode, committing to this evil caricature and actively plays out what he assumes people think of him. Its a bad time for everyone. Raken wants to have a father/son relationship with him but Rem views it more as a divine figure/lowly servant vibe which is also a struggle. (also I mentioned this once but Rem almost never dresses like this, most of the time hes just in Regular Dude clothes)
Tumblr media
Puck is a double agent between the dreaming and nightmare worlds. He is very close to the Nightmare Crew, but doesnt have full faith that they will be able to succeed against the dream queen and is worried about that inevitable outcome. In general he just wants to be "ok" but doesnt trust in his ability to actually achieve that. Hes deeply insecure and anxious all the time, but also arguably has the best heart and commits the least Atrocities out of anyone.
Raken is the struggling single father trying to wrangle all his henchmen. He is not a bad guy at all, he understands the role he has to play in the dreaming world and takes his responsibility seriously. He loves history and tradition, and values his mantle but does bemoan the inherent suffering he brings. he tries his best to do his job as carefully and conscientiously as possible. He views himself as a mentor figure for his henchmen and tries very hard to help them, but theyre A Lot and he can only do so much. in particular when Rem goes fully off his rocker all he could really do is be like "are you winnin' son"

i could be wrong, but i’m pretty sure that “Wednesday” is the first form of The Addams Family that isn’t satire (I haven’t seen the 2019 and 2021 movies and idk if I ever will).
This just leads to some interesting new perspectives because now a lot of people are trying to rationalize/moralize some of Wednesday’s actions which is interesting because no one’s ever had to do that before.
Tumblr media
I think the lack of satire also makes some of the Addams’ actions in the show a little confusing, like how they seem to love all things dark and murderous but then when Gomez gets accused of murder they act as though it’s a terrible thing (I know this can be rationalized by saying that they were scared of the consequences he’d face, but honestly it would’ve been nice if it didn’t have to be rationalized in the first place).
Tumblr media
The thing with satire is that their actions never had to be rationalized because it was funny. Sure, it was dark humour, but you could tell that it was a joke. It was obvious that the point of those dark jokes was to entertain, and those weren’t the morals the story was preaching. Take this scene in “The Addams Family Values” for example where Wednesday sets Amanda on fire:
Tumblr media
It’s obvious that the movie isn’t telling you “set the people who bully you on fire”, because it’s obviously satire. To find the actual message, you have to look deeper into the dark campiness to find the heart of what the story is about. Satires are exaggerations of real life problems, and The Addams Family looks at the flaws within the “ideal American family”. This scene is telling the audience to stand up to bullies, that adults can be blind and part of the problem, not to bully outcasts/people who seem weird, that history is often sanitized, and that colonialism is bad. It’s also a badass moment that feels great because Wednesday and the other “weird” kids are finally getting revenge on a bunch of rude and horrible people.
Tumblr media
Now compare that to the scene in “Wednesday” where Wednesday tortures Tyler. True, the scenes take place in very different contexts. Tyler is someone who has physically hurt people, including Wednesday’s friend, so it’s more personal. In this scene, it isn’t just justice she’s after, it’s cold-hearted vengeance (that may be mixed with some feelings of being hurt).. With Amanda, it’s more lighthearted as Amanda never killed anyone. Nevertheless, in both scenes, Wednesday gets violent revenge on someone who’s wronged her, but the message in the TV show is that torture is bad. The Nightshades turn their backs on Wednesday, and she faces consequences for her actions. And that brings me to my next point: consequences.
Tumblr media
In “Wednesday”, The Addams family has to face actual legal consequences. In the 90s movies, they only had to face social consequences. Even though they did all those horrifying terrible things, the only repercussions they got were disdain and annoyance from the other characters, which isn’t much of a repercussion. Even in “The Addams Family” when Tully throws them out of their house, the police are never involved, and the thought of the Addams’ going to jail doesn’t even cross the audience’s mind. This is partly what allows them to wholeheartedly engage in macabre and murderous things: the narrative doesn’t punish them for it, and they never face serious consequences.
Tumblr media
After all, if the Addams’ in the 90s movies faced serious consequences, the narrative wouldn’t go anywhere. If the storyline allowed the Addams’ to be arrested, then the judge at the start likely would’ve called the police when Gomez kept hitting golf balls through his window. Gomez would’ve been arrested, and the story couldn’t progress. As a satire, the 90s movies require there to be a lack of police in order to convey the messages of the films. That way, the Addams’ can do all of their usual spooky and dangerous things, which convey the deeper lessons of the story. However, “Wednesday” took away the satire and added in the police.
Tumblr media
From the start, the Addams’ are treated as not “ordinary” people, but they no longer exist outside of the law. This is shown in the very first episode, when Wednesday puts the piranhas in the pool. Morticia later mentions that “the boy’s father wanted to press attempted murder charges”. That is a huge difference from the 90s movies. If this was a scene in one of the 90s movies, Wednesday likely would’ve still been expelled, but it would’ve been something she was smugly satisfied about, and there would be no the threat of legal actions.
Tumblr media
In other words, the previous versions of The Addams Family were all treated as satire characters, which allowed them to get away with things that they wouldn’t be able to do in the real world (playing with death/dangerous activities/torture) without the narrative punishing them for it, and without them facing real consequences. Satires require exaggeration, so extremes had to be allowed. However, “Wednesday” treated The Addams’ as regular characters, and had them face consequences like being arrested and jail. This makes it feel like they’re all bark and no bite: it seems like they talk about death and violence but deep down, they abhor it.
Tumblr media
This is what made Gomez’s arrest seem somewhat contradictory. The Addams talk so much about how they love death, so why did Wednesday and Morticia have to go to such lengths to prove that he didn’t kill anyone? And Wednesday’s comment at the end of the episode about how she knows Gomez couldn’t really kill anyone just reinforces the idea that the Addams’ are all bark and no bite.
Besides, whether or not the Addams’ themselves actually disapproved of Gomez murdering someone, the narrative disapproved of it. The story punishes Gomez for potentially being a murderer, just like it punishes Wednesday for torturing Tyler. Since the Addams’ aren’t satire characters in this interpretation, it can’t allow them to go to the same extremes as satire characters, it has to punish them, otherwise it would convey the message “torture and murder are good”.
Tumblr media
This isn’t a criticization of how the show interpreted the Addams’, it’s just a neat thing I started thinking about and then decided to write out.
tldr: The Addams’ aren’t satire in “Wednesday”, so while they still have the same values/talk the same way as their 90s movie counterparts, the narrative has to have them face serious consequences so it doesn’t convey the wrong message.

I hope it isnt rude or presumptuous of me to barge in and vent, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on Columbos family. I just finished "no time to die" and I can't get over how bad that episode was. Maybe its me and my headcanons getting in the way but No Way is he from a family of cops. And not a single one of them sounds like they're Italian or new yorkers the blasphemy! To me that mans from an Jewish immigrant family, and proud of it.
Tumblr media
combined with:
Tumblr media
yeah the whole "family of cops" thing in no time to die came off as cheesy, contrived 90s copaganda, so i just kind of ignore it. it's hardly canon, so feel free to do the same! i picture columbo with a big, loud, italian family myself, in which he's just about the only cop.
I will say though, i actually totally agree that he comes off as more jewish than not. columbo is, in canon, a good little italian boy married to a catholic woman, so the natural assumption is that he, too, is catholic. but peter falk was a very organic, naturalistic actor--as a student of sanford meisner, his primary acting imperative was to live and behave truthfully to the self under imaginary circumstances. so for someone who was barely religious himself in the way "cultural jews" tend to be...
Tumblr media
what i'd pay to hear the words "had the fuckin bar mitzvah'" come out of that man's mouth
...to me, falk's "truthful self" is just so jewish to his core that, because he puts so much of himself into the character, it bleeds clean through to columbo, and we get all these jewish mannerisms out of the supposed catholic! (jews, of course, have a rich and historic presence in italy, so there's no preclusion on that front.)
once you notice the little things, you can't stop. his phrasings, his gestures, the ways he interacts with others, his boiled eggs, his gastrointestinal sensitivity, even his sense of humor.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
chag pesach sameach
there are, of course, more substantial pieces of evidence than ordering chinese food for his extended family or needing an antacid every time he eats too quickly. i'm not jewish myself, but i grew up in a very jewish neighborhood, had more jewish than gentile friends growing up, and my partner of seven years is jewish. to me, what really codes columbo as a jewish man is how well he embodies many aspects of specifically jewish ethos.
being honorable, sensitive, and humble, he's the ideal mensch. one tenet strongly prioritized in judaism is tzedek, or one's ethical obligation to righteousness, equity, and compassion. he is both moved by suffering and tenaciously committed to justice.
jews hold the deepest respect for both religious and civil law, and you will note that columbo is neither an outsider nor a vigilante--he is a sanctioned agent of the legal system respecting and following the process of the law in his pursuit of murderers. he functions within it, sometimes in spite of it, but not outside of it. when he gets creative, he toes, but never quite crosses the line.
he thinks for himself and thus has a strong moral compass; he treats everyone with kindness and empathizes readily with individual struggle. he is patient, courageous, and clever--all particularly valued qualities in judaism.
Tumblr media
(rakish semitic looks aside)
paramount is columbo's intellectual curiosity, love of learning, and propensity to question, which is, too, seen as fundamental to a faith built entirely on asking questions. whether he's gently yet methodically poking holes in a suspect's alibi or wondering how much a random stranger paid for his shoes, he never has a shortage of them. he's a little guy bursting with chutzpah, perfectly at home both asking a prime suspect if he can have a closer look at his hand, and God Himself to spare sodom and gomorrah if he can only find a few good people...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
if you really needed any further evidence that he's God's Chosen...

Here Byakuya gives a long speech that appears to be a eulogy or funeral oration for Sasakibe, although it’s sort of hard to tell how official it is-- he could just be speaking extemporaneously in the middle of a funeral.
But either way, he’s speaking for a reason. And I don’t think it’s because Byakuya held any personal affection for Sasakibe. But the values Byakuya praises in Sasakibe (capability, humility, loyalty) are values that are shared, perhaps even embodied, by his own lieutenant. It’s not a coincidence that the final line here ends on Renji’s face!
And whether he requested and was granted the eulogy, or was just speaking his mind in the moment, I think that’s what’s behind Byakuya’s words here. Because of his position, and his nature, he’s just not the type to openly praise his subordinates-- a subordinate who excels in every aspect is merely doing their job. But by praising a man who displayed similar traits, he can show the regard he has for Renji in a more subtle way.
And looking at Renji’s face here, you can tell he gets the message. It’s a trust and understanding born not just out of inspired leadership, or dedicated service, but also of moral principle. Determination. Respect. Accomplishment. And finally, breaking through to change the other person’s conceptions. Holding yourself to such a high ideal that you drag the people around you with you.
It’s important that we, the reader, hear how much Renji means to Byakuya at this point in the story. How sweet is it that Renji also gets to hear it?

for the Melrin ask - Worst thing you think Merlin ever did. im so curious about this one
I had to think so much about this one too.
I don't know. I love Merlin, he's my favorite character. I justify everything he does, even if it's bad. That's what happens with any favorite fictional characters.
I don't want to say "Not telling Arthur sooner" or "Mistrusting Mordred" or "Poisoning Morgana" or anything of the like because, to be fair, that's a given. It's something a lot of us will lament about. Mainly because the writers did not do their job properly (imo).
I'd say, the worst thing he did, to me, is be passive.
I'm bringing up my own values and morals here because I believe that Merlin ruined himself and all of Albion by being passive. By listening to the dragon and not doing his own research. By being whatever Arthur needed him to be. By taking things upon himself. By not trusting others because that's what he was told.
If Merlin had been a little more assertive and a little more sure of himself and what he wanted, then the show would have gone on in an entirely different direction. But he's passive. For the majority of the show. The biggest time where he's not is in the first scene where he challenges Arthur because he wanted to stay true to his ideals and values which was to stand up against bullies who prey on the ones who can't defend themselves against them.
If he had been more assertive, he would have told Arthur earlier, he wouldn't have poisoned Morgana, he would have trusted Mordred or even Gwaine and the others more.
But he let himself be led by Destiny and Kilgharrah and Gaius and whoever else advised him rather than take some time to think things through first. Like Arthur does.
The thing about Merlin and Arthur here is that Arthur really is bolder than Merlin, but in a different way. He is bold in a way Merlin lacks, which is with practical and tactical matters. He questions Merlin's judgement, questions his father's judgement, Gaius's judgement. Agravaine was a main villain for season 4 because of his perfect ways of manipulation and deceit in a way that it got past Arthur's critical thinking and assertiveness. Arthur doesn't take things at face value and is willing to consider different ways things can go and the show mostly shows that when it comes to questioning Merlin's judgement (like about Agravaine and the siege tunnels and about Gwen at first etc). But in the first few seasons, he questioned his father's judgement a lot too but the fandom mainly focuses on Merlin's opinions vs Arthur's even though he and Uther had met head-on-head multiple times.
Arthur doesn't take things at face value which is why it's possible for so many magic reveal fics to look and be accurate.
But Merlin does. Merlin takes a lot of things at face value. He took Kilgharrah's sayings at face value, he took Gaius's (good-hearted but misguided) warnings at face value. He took what the druids said, what Edwin Muirden said, what Julius Borden said, what that druid seer in the Diamere episode said, and so many others at face value. Just accepted it without thinking much about it and went forward.
Don't get me wrong, Merlin has a very strong moral compass and moral thinking. But he lacks critical thinking. Something which Arthur doesn't lack. They complete each other in this way.
But if we're not looking at all that then I'd say the worst thing I believe Merlin ever did was poison Morgana because- WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK MERLIN, DID YOU NOT THINK OF ANY OTHER FUCKING SOLUTION???? HOW ABOUT GETTING MORGANA OUT OF THE CASTLE? HUH? WHAT THEN? WHAT ABOUT TELLING HER THAT HEY, I'M GONNA POISON YOU BUT DW I HAVE THE ANTIDOTE SO THAT I CAN REVIVE YOU AGAIN WHEN MORGAUSE COMES AND LIFTS THE SPELL BC I KNOW THAT YOU DONT WANT THIS EVEN THOUGH YOU THINK UTHER SUCKS. I MEAN, THE USED THAT PLAN SEVERAL HUNDRED TIMES ALREADY, WHY COULDN'T THEY USE IT THIS ONCE???????

Some further chapter 235 thoughts
Alright, a little disclaimer before I get carried away: this may and chances are will in some ways contradict my thoughts from when I last talked about it here. Right after the spoilers came out my thinking was driven by emotion, and before I got a chance to sit down and shape my opinion properly, the emotion was what defined it. I guess I shouldn't have written it down in the first place, as all I really did was allowed my feelings to get the better of me and judged the situation biased. My bad, really,,
Tumblr media
With that out of the way, my opinion has shifted since, and as I've come to see it, there's at least one important thing that Sukuna vs Gojo fight did, and that is precisely cementing Gojo's position as the strongest. It's already a pre-established truth when we enter the story, but it's put into question with Sukuna finding a way out of his seal through Yuuji consuming that finger. Sukuna merely being brought back to existence is already enough to challenge Gojo's title. Is Satoru Gojo rightfully the pinnacle of Jujutsu, or is he, as Sukuna brags, just somebody who is considered the strongest when the King of Curses wasn't around to provide a contrast? Is he the most powerful sorcerer of all eras, or is he simply the one of his time, comparatively mild and peaceful? Two characters getting to be named the only honoured one throughout heaven and earth is an explicit contradiction, so how could both statements be true at the same time? These were the questions hanging in the air from the beginning, looming over both the audience and the characters' heads, and Gege undoubtedly has been laying the groundwork for Gojo and Sukuna's confrontation since the very start. So as much as I or anybody else may dislike it, the purpose of this fight was never solely to rescue Megumi. The debate over who should claim the title of the all-time strongest had come into question long before the necessity to save Megumi entered the equasion, it's been a thread unravelling itself throughout the whole narrative. If Gojo's arc is about to reach its conclusion, that could only be possible with this uncertainty dispelled. Now that we have a concrete answer, the narrative can move on from there.
What's also been a reappearing idea in the manga since the outset, is the notion that the strength positions individual's value in Jujutsu society, brought to us from perspectives of various characters. However, it's not the strength alone which defines one's place, or rather it's not all kinds of strength that are accepted as valuable and deserving of admiration. In actuality, what really matters is how well the person in question fits into the conventional image, which is backed up by centuries of tradition followed by those in charge. Otherwise the instances when extremely powerful in their own ways individuals are driven out to the outskirts of society just because they don't fit into the mold of traditionalistic beliefs enough wouldn't be present in the narrative, we just wouldn't have characters like Toji and Maki. The moral of their stories is, essentially, that in order to be recognized as an individual and have at least some singnificant say when it comes to making decisions in the Jujutsu world, you need to uphold a standard.
And by whom is that standard set?
My thoughts keep circling back to what Gakuganji once said regarding the defining forces in their society which Grade 1 sorcerers are, whereas Special Grades are rather 'something of a misrepresentation'. I guess those who are assigned Grade 1 really do have a greater influence on the world around them, and that is not due to their strength, but rather because they're setting an ideal for those below them in the hierarchical order. They're better fit to serve as role models, and in society where climbing to the top is a way to ensure survival, younger and less experienced sorcerers have no choice but to look up to those who thrive, seeking a way to achieve it, too. The strong get to dictate the standard, yes, but it's still essential that they uphold said standard themselves, providing an example. This even finds a reflection in the procedure of promotion. One needs to be deemed worthy upon receiving recommendations, and that requires having characteristics which fall in line with what is conventionally approved of. So while Gojo is considered the strongest of his generation, he is not, paradoxically, the most powerful player in the field, not in terms of political and influential significance. Not when he displays a mindset that is a stand-alone against traditional beliefs held by the absolute majority. That is a contradiction pointed out by Sukuna in early chapters: he finds it amusing that someone so strong plays by somebody else's rules.
How is all that relevant to the importance of Gojo winning the fight?
As we know, Special Grades tend to be lone wolves, too vastly outnumbered for their voice to be heard clearly. For instance, who in the Jujutsu world knows of Yuki's research and what fruit it bears, what insight into the nature of cursed energy her investigation provides? She's stigmatized for being a delinquent (I think it's no coincidence that the only thing Geto heard about her was how she didn't carry out her duties as a sorcerer), the work of her life going unnoticed with her death. It might be a complicated way for me to get to the point, but what I'm trying to say is that Gojo, as recognizable within sorcerer's society as he is, probably isn't that different from Yuki. No one really remembers his goals when asked to describe him. He's the strongest, and that's the only lingering impression of him. By coming out of this fight triumphant and therefore cementing his position on the top of Jujutsu society, Gojo makes sure he will be remembered -- just like Sukuna is still remembered, even though centuries have passed since he was at the peak of his power. With surpassing the King of Curses under his belt, Gojo's name is now set in stone, and so is his example for the future generations. This means Gojo's ideology will outlive him, and even if his beliefs might seem delusional as of now, it doesn't mean this won't change in the years to follow. Because the adequacy of one or the other set of ideas can only be measured by the context of society they exist in, and now that society has a stimulus to reconstruct itself, adapting to the views of someone who's proven himself ultimately superior judging by its own standarts. So yes, in the end Gojo and Sukuna both fought for the sake of proving they could win, but while Sukuna was after personal gain in terms of self-affirmation and growth, I'd argue that for Gojo it was rather about setting an example.
Now, to once again address my previous thoughts and how they've changed, I no longer think it's Gojo's loneliness that should be breached in order to bring about change. Gojo's being lonely is converted into somewhat of a symbol by the narrative, and, using a little bit of metaphor here, symbols should remain static, unchanged in order to carry meaning. In that sense Gojo still represents the flawed past which the main characters of the manga need to break away from, making him the last strong sorcerer forced to fight alone and trapped in his own position. Gojo as a side character needs to stay at least in some ways inferior for the protagonists of the story to outshine him, claiming the spotlight back. After all, it's all about giving way to the new generation, and Gojo himself acknowledges it well. He as a sorcerer of the previous, older generation is too well-ingrained in that very society which the whole narrative focuses on deconstructing. It's about surpassing your predecessors, and if anything, making sure his students will do so is Gojo's main goal as a teacher.

Hey, if this isn't too much, I'd love to hear your headcannons on what the FO4 companions MBTI personalities are, and maybe some other ideas of how they'd react to certain things because of their MBTI.
Fo4 Companions MBTI Types
➼ Word Count » 0.8k ➼ Warnings » None ➼ A/N » I literally love that you asked bb, I have the strongest bouts of MBTI obsessions and you asked at the right time <3
MacCready - ISTP - He gets frightened really easily due to him running under constant stress that builds up from how determined he is to work hard. He's terrified of finding himself lost or alone and will do anything he can to keep the people in his life so he doesn't have to be any of that.
Nick - INTJ - He has an innate need to be seen as capable in anything he does and can sometimes overwork himself just so he can feel like he's making a difference. He needs to set aside time to be alone just so he can reset his mind and feel grounded again. (he'll usually do this at night when Ellie and Sole are asleep)
Cait - ESTP - Cait wants to have a sense of control in her life, and in her past, turned to drugs to feel that. She gets incredibly angry when she feels people aren't listening to her and will either react loudly or completely isolate herself for a couple of days. She's working through it, but she'll still snap at times.
Danse - ISTJ - Danse is idealistic when it comes to the Brotherhood and has a habit of ignoring everything else to focus and believe solely in what he imagines. He can sometimes go overboard with these ideals and can be ridiculously stubborn when anything has something to do with the group.
Preston - INFJ - He's always open to hearing other people out, even at the cost of his own health. He doesn't care how burnt out or exhausted he gets, if someone needs a shoulder to cry on, he's there. It overwhelms him at times but he feels as if it's his duty to push through to do what it takes to make others happier.
Codsworth - ESFJ - He likes to feel valued and will always be doing as much as he can to be seen as such. It'd destroy him if you saw him as anything less than helpful and constantly making an effort to hold a part in whatever settlement you have him stationed at.
Piper - ENFP - She's extremely perceptive to other people's moods, it's how she dictates if someone's lying to her or not. Her extroverted nature can make her restless, as she's on a constant search to fulfill her desire in getting the truth out to people.
Curie - INTP - She likes to work near rivers or streams, no matter how irradiated they are. That kind of peaceful environment reminds her of all the things she used to read in books and is just generally more favorable to work around. She just feels as if she can think clearly with the sound of flowing water in the background.
Strong - ESTP - Strong never really liked the idea of strictly working under Fist and doing whatever he had ordered. He instead likes being able to do his own thing while also being guided throughout the wasteland. He hates authoritarian figures and likes the freedom of roaming he gets now that he's left Trinity Tower.
Hancock - ENTP - He takes his job as mayor very seriously and is persistently trying to better himself and his community, no matter how negatively others view it. He takes a lot of pride in the Goodneighbor residents and would do just about anything to keep this place afloat and with the same morals that built it up: freedom and equality.
Deacon - ENTP - Deacon loves to multitask and can frequently be seen doing as many jobs as possible all at the same time. If you look close enough, you'll see how much it drains him physically, but it's easy to miss with how upbeat and enthusiastic he is. He does it to avoid dwelling on any past mistakes. He feels like he's making it up by doing all these extra things.
X6-88 - ISTJ - As hard as it is to spot, he's very sensitive to criticism and can't take any form of assessment anyone might perform over his capabilities. It makes him feel vulnerable and he hates it.
Dogmeat - ESFP - Happy and energetic, Dogmeat almost has an unending amount of stamina when it comes to literally anything. He loves following you around, and as long as you're willing to keep him, he'll be with you till the end.
Old Longfellow - ISTP - He can empathize with others really easily and is constantly searching for a sense of comfort in anything he does. It's one of the reasons he likes dogs so much, they're familiar to him and he can count on them to be just as loyal as himself.
Gage - ESTP - He doesn't take the loss well, whether that be money or the people he cares about. That being said, he's ridiculously protective when it comes to both of those things and wouldn't dare to let either slip away from him.

So...Manipulation And The Metatron (GO S2 Spoilers)
So, listen, that ending though? These are just some of my thoughts (and I promise a more cohesive meta later) but I noticed that when recounting how the Metatron described Aziraphale (as the ideal candidate for supreme archangel) he says:
1) Aziraphale is a Leader 2) Aziraphale is honest 3) Aziraphale does not “just tell people what they want to hear”
And then, that the above qualities are the reason that Gabriel came to him in the first place (Metatron imagines).  Now, this isn’t an Aziraphale hate post (in fact I have so much empathy for my poor Angel) but none of those things are true and we see why these points are wrong played out in our minisode flashbacks.
On the first count: Aziraphale is a Leader This implies a sense of individuality and ability to work with others well. Sure he works with Crowley well, and he did just protect his Bookshop from being burnt to a crisp. But, he wasn’t leading anyone and in the 1826 flashback in Edenborough, he cannot lead any of the humans towards good (it’s only when he partners with Crowley and follows his lead that Elsbeth is able to find a different avenue in life.  Additionally, he was put into a leadership position in Season 1 (to lead a battalion of Angels for Armageddon)_ and he blatantly, outright REFUSED. He does not want that responsibility and he does not do well in those situations without Crowley.
On the second Count: Aziraphale is Honest. The entire point of the Job Minisode was to establish that Aziraphale has no problem lying to Heaven, the Angels, (we already knew he was okay lying to G*d as that was his literal first scene in Season 1, Ep. 3), and demons (a la the 1941 minisode).
Part of the point of saving Job’s children hinged on him lying. Saving Crowley from the “evidence” of their closeness, relied on him lying. Hell, even the catalyst for getting Wee Morag killed was because he lied about changing the body.  Aziraphale. Is. NOT. Honest. (and that’s okay). If anything, it’s Crowley who generally is reliably genuine (at least to Aziraphale) and it helps highlight how his moral compass works.
For more thoughts on this, I literally wrote like 10 Meta about it in 2019. I’ll link one here.
On the third Count: Aziraphale does not just tell people what they want to hear
Across all of the Minisodes (and in the pre-time flashback) Aziraphale’s main response to stress is to either distract from the situation and/or tell people what they want to hear.  For example: While he doesn’t tell Crowley what he wants to hear (that his nebula system will go on indefinitely), he does try to tell him that the think he’s already made is beautiful and capitulates alot to Crowley’s assertions about G*d.  In Job’s parable, he tells the angels what they want to hear about the children (both before they save them and after)  In 1826, he tells the surgeon and Elsbeth what they want to hear after he figures a way of making his morals “work” for their bodysnatching plan.  In 1941, he lies and tells the demons after Crowley what they want to hear (although as a lie to save Crowley from punishment)  This is all to say that the first way the Metatron tries to entice Aziraphale to his side is through empty praise (especially empty if he indeed has been “taking a closer look at his previous jobs and seen the partnership he has with Crowley”). When it doesn’t work, when appealing to Aziraphale’s inner insecurities is still met with resistance, then, and only then, does the Metatron brings out the “trump card”: An appeal to ensure Crowley’s safety.  I find in interesting though that these 3 characteristics (values Aziraphale has, for sure) were chosen to try to persuade him. I wonder why they were picked when they more accurately describe Crowley.
Crowley, the demon who took charge on saving Aziraphale, orchestrating rescues and then later taking charge to save the humans, (and then also took charge in saving Nina and Maggie when Michael wanted to turn them to pillars of salt).
Crowley, the demon who is heartbreakingly honest to Aziraphale and refuses to lie to him (although his omissions this season are apparent to the audience, they are not to Aziraphale).
Crowley, the demon who does not tell Aziraphale what he wants to hear because he much more values honestly and genuinely believes in the angel’s goodness.  I think these 3 values were chosen to make Aziraphale think about Crowley, priming him for the “promise” of safety later.
I’m not sure (I’m still processing the ending as are we all) but those were just some thoughts/observations I had. Thanks for entertaining my ramblings?

SEUNGHAN IDEAL TYPE based on astrology ~
Tumblr media
reminder this is based off of my opinions from observing his chart and my own knowledge and is not exact fact unless I knew him myself and im not a professional astrologer
Appearance: He just loves beautiful people 😭😭 Someone who can switch from a sweet feminine look to a natural but sultry look. He wouldn't mind someone who wore makeup when going out. Refreshed smooth skin. Model type faces (pretty bright smile, clear cut features, and is very photogenic). Resting happy face or looks joyful most of the time. More dewy or soft makeup. Longer hair or hair that frames the face beautifully, darker hair colors. Super fashionable and keeps up with trends; has more expensive taste. Wears more color but nothing overly bright. Features that are found attractive no matter the beauty standard. Their looks show how much they take care of themselves or are well groomed. A more feminine build or body type (shorter, curves). Has a lowkey sexiness to them "lady in the streets, freak in the sheets" LMFAO.
Personality: A sweet person packed with charisma and optimism. Someone funnier with a sense of humor. Someone who got SHMONEYZ. Mostly chill and easygoing but knows how to party and have fun. A “what will be simply will be” mindset. Someone who doesn’t mind delving into vices such as drinking or some hedonistic behaviors. Isn’t too serious or has been through enough in life where certain things don’t phase them too much. Work hard, play hard personality. Likes to meet new people and is open to new experiences. Very social-able. Someone more passive and doesn’t try to control situations or him. Has duality between being clingy in a cute way but isn’t possessive or overly jealous. Similar to Eunseok he’d like someone who can take care of themselves when he’s not around.
Morals/Values: Follows the philosophy of living in the present moment and valuing the joys of life. Finds maintaining their individuality and sense of choice important. Has a “yolo” type of thought process. Keeps the past in the past. Believes that fairness is essential.
Extras: He’d like someone who’s open to 50/50 relationships where the girl buys gifts or sets up dates as well and not just the other way around. (lowkey gives rich older gf vibes). Might be into foreigners or someone who indulges in foreign looks or trends. Might like someone who has similar skills to him like being a good dancer or singer.
