SJM doesn’t NEED 30 books of “build up” for her love stories to be great. The fact some people point this out as an argument for why Gwyn and Azriel can’t be a thing shows that you haven’t read ALL of Sarah’s book.

For those who haven’t read Throne of Glass allow me to introduce you to not just one but TWO couples featured in this book that had ZERO interaction prior to Tower of Dawn. Chaol Westfield and his WIFE Yrene Westfall (Towers) and Nesyrn Faliq and Prince Sartaq.

Neither of these couples were aware of each other prior to this book, two of these characters had very little to no pages time prior to this book too. So your excuse that Sarah can’t write Gwyn and Azriel and make it a good story because there was no previous build up doesn’t fly because Tower of Dawn was a good book and the amount of people that love both these couples prove you so very wrong.

Plus Sarah’s books are almost 1000 pages long sometimes. So you’re telling me that a romance novel with 200-300 pages, that y’all like to say we’ve NEVER read 🙄, will make yall swoon when strangers get together but not Azriel and Gwyn with more the double those pages. Give me a break 🤦🏻‍♀️🙄

Giving back a gift DOES signal a rejection and/or ending. To say otherwise is to be living in denial.

Besides, it's pretty telling when she kept Graysen ring for a while even after his blatant rejection of her. A person she was in love with. And whose gifts has Elain not given back? Lucien Vanserra. I bet she even keeps them close by.

But she sure as heck returned that necklace pretty fast. It was left on Azriel's gift pile when he went to retrieve them the next morning. If she truly had romantic, lasting feelings for Azriel, she would have kept the necklace and not given it back. But she didn't. Which makes her actions and intent pretty darn clear. Even Azriel knows an outright rejection when he sees one so 🤷‍♀️

Elain made her choice in the bonus chapter of Azriel’s when she returned his gift to her after he called their almost kiss a mistake. That can only be interpreted as a clear form of rejection, for both of them.

You don't say to someone almost kissing them is a mistake, unless it is one. You don't return gifts unless you are rejecting it and/or the person. That is Sarah way of closing the door on anything happening between E/riel for good.

On the flip side, Elain still has Lucien's gifts to her from BOTH Solstices. Lucien still looks at Elain with longing on Solstice....That is Sarah's way of leaving the door open for them.

Elain has made her choice and it is clear for all to see. Deal with it.
