You were best friends with Mal, way before either of you admitted your feelings for each other.

He likes to let other people know that you’re his, even if he isn’t that big on pda.  He likes to always be touching you somehow, if only to know you are there safe with him.  Whether that be holding your hand or having his arm slung around your shoulders to keep you close.

Saints help anyone who tries to hurt you.  He is very protective.  The type of man that will turn absolutely feral if anything happens to you.  

He freaks out if he hears you've been hurt. “Saints, you’re bleeding, what happened, who did this?!” // “Relax, Mal, it’s just a paper cut.”

Proceeds to take care of everything for you.  Gently placing a plaster over the cut and pressing a kiss over it.  Lots of cuddles and kissing to make you feel better (but only after throwing the offending piece of paper on the fire).

Literally, there is nothing he wouldn’t do for you.

He's a big softie and a complete romantic.

But he loves to annoy you, always teasing and pulling pranks.  He thinks you look cute when you're angry.

One of his favourite things to do is pull at your hair to wind you up.  You respond by tugging at his earlobe in retribution.

He pays very close attention to your likes and dislikes.  And adores gifting you things he finds on his travels.

Your favourite flowers?  You can expect a fresh bunch on your table every week just so he can see your smile.

He enjoys teaching you tracking skills.

And you enjoy pretending you're a worse shot with a rifle than you are, just to get him closer as he stands behind you, his chest to your back, and his arms holding yours as he helps to line up your aim.

When you get into trouble and you manage to shoot a man from a fair distance away, he is so surprised.

“Have you been able to shoot straight this entire time?!”

Quiet times with Mal are the best.

You don't have to have to say anything or be doing anything in particular.  Just enjoying the peace with each other.

He likes it when you use his shoulder as a pillow.

He likes it even more when you let him lie with his head in your lap, one of your hands in his, and a book in the other, as you read to him.

He likes to absently trace shapes onto the back of your hand.

He loves looking up at you as if you are his entire world.  There is nothing but the beauty of you filling his vision and the sound of your tranquil voice filling his ears.

He is completely enamoured by you.  He can't help but stare at you from across the room.

He hates when he has to leave you to join the First Army.

Makes you promise to write to him and spray the pages with your sweet perfume.

He also makes you promise to be careful.

“Don’t do anything stupid without me.” // “How can I?  You’re taking all the stupid with you.”

Lots of forehead touches and kisses.

“I’ll always find my way back to you, I promise.  You’re my True North.”

13. who is your least favorite character to write for? why?

i tend not to write much fic about characters i don't enjoy writing, but on the occasions that i've had to bring in mike wheeler, malyen orestev, and poe dameron, i have not had fun*!

mike because he's stupid and boring, mal because i straight up can't stand that asshole, and poe because tros absolutely ruined his character for me

*unless it's of the spite-based variety. am i talking about mal? i'm talking about mal.

21. tell me about another writer(s) who you admire? what is it about them that you admire?

@lymricks has an incredible knack for all the things i look for in a story— prose, pacing, emotion, sense of place, etc. i reread dried up, half full and in waves on the regular, because holy shit!!!! they're so good it makes me ache!!!

@littlelindentree peels characters apart like onions and then slow roasts them until they're caramelized and perfect and you spend the rest of your time in fandom searching in vain for that same delicious thoroughness and perhaps this metaphor is falling apart but i have loved her cooking since way back when in fnl fandom on lj and i will never ever be over it

big_pink taught me more about non-linear narratives and complex plot payoff than several theory and craft books in college

@pheebebuffy murders me on the regular with the way she tackles emotions in general and catharsis in particular!!! she pretty much single-handedly dragged me back into gilmore girls fandom in the year of our lord 2022!!! i am so feral for her every iteration of jess mariano i low key high key wanna die about it!!!!

So honestly, I kinda love to read the Darkling's chapters in ROW. It's so much fun. the reason why ROW is such a masterpiece tbh, everything makes sense. And kos-duology wrapped up everything you need to know, the answer to every question. If only people knew what they read. There's a reason why Leigh brings back the Darkling in ROW:

He is Leigh's 'powerful villain' in the story, if Leigh killed him in the first place, then whats the point of creating "the powerful villain" in the story???

Leigh wanted to show how a powerful villain and an asshole he is.

Leigh wanted to show, how she punished him after everything he did. if only yall knew what you read, and if yall truly read the books: it shows how he suffers in every chapter. How Leigh punished him until the very end even in death, is very entertaining to read.

This is also the answer for your question: "Leigh punished Alina and what about the Darkling?"

So idk why people said: Leigh is unfair??

Leigh knows what she is doing inside her books and to all of her characters. And she IS always fair in everything, she IS realistic and NOT misogynistic. Never. The reason why I adore Leigh as a writer. Because she might write bout "fantasy" but she never forgets to put "realistic points" inside her books, so we can— "not only read" but also "learn" from "what we read."
