Kagami’s Lament
“I wish that you had thought this through before I went and fell in love with you!”
Notes:
In case you couldn’t tell, this was based off of the mashup of ‘Happier’ and ‘Traitor’, both by Olivia Rodrigo.
The short-haired teen threw a glance to where Dupont was picnicking in the sunlight, and a twist of jealousy shot through her chest as she saw two of their number sitting together on a blanket.
She may have broken up with Adrien no more than a month ago, but he certainly looked happy - and the noirette beauty at his side looked for all the world like she was sitting next to the boy who hung the stars in the sky and lifted the sun and moon with his own hands.
Marinette, so pretty, so kind, so smitten with her ex, someone she might have considered a confidant in another lifetime, one where he didn’t stray so quickly after her accusations of emotional infidelity drove their relationship to its grave.
She had to look away from the scene, sipping bitterly at her water.
Of all things, she hadn’t expected him to move on this quickly - and she certainly hadn’t expected him to be so forthcoming with his new relationship.
It was almost like...
No, she decided firmly, setting down her water bottle and reaching for her phone. Adrien wasn’t that type of person. He wasn’t that spiteful.
Or was he?
Their relationship had ended on tense terms. Kagami had made no qualms about how much of a third wheel she felt like in their own relationship, whenever he brought Marinette around. He hadn’t done much to dissuade her anger, and when she finally decided to let go, she only half-expected the wave of confusion and calm that showed on his face.
He took their breakup well - too well.
It wasn’t just his first relationship, but hers as well. And Kagami had been nigh inconsolable for the past few weeks since it happened.
But Adrien?
Only two weeks afterward, he seemed to have bounced back to normal - and if the chatter from their class was anything to be believed, had moved on to the next willing candidate: one Marinette Dupain-Cheng, one whom she thought she was friends with.
Apparently not as close as she’d thought, for she still couldn’t see much guilt in her eyes whenever they spoke, though she seemed solemn whenever talk came up of Adrien.
It was almost as if she... regretted saying yes. But why would she? She’d won their rivalry. She had the boy both of them had eyes for.
Why would she feel regret when she got everything she wanted?
And why did Kagami still feel a longing deep in her heart, an urge tugging at her soul when it came to the baker’s daughter?
“I wish that you’d have thought this through before I went and fell in love with you!” She remembered herself yelling, losing her grip on her temper for the first time in what felt like ages. She’d all but forgotten what it felt like to shout at someone, something that had been very quickly disciplined out of her by her mother. “You didn’t cheat, but you’re still a traitor!”
Now as she watched them sit together, Marinette’s dainty fingers feeding him cookies with a heartwarming look of pure joy on her face, she wondered if they were happy together.
What did he say to her? Did he tell her the same old ‘eternal love’ drivel he’d spouted to her when she finally got the guts to confess? Did he give her sweet platitudes that made her swoon? Did he offer his jacket in the rain, or sweep her off her feet as he walked through puddles, or even give her a handkerchief when she got sick?
Did he think of her, even now?
A sickness rose in the pit of her gut, a deep nauseous anxiety that made her have to look away for good when she caught his green gaze across the park. The recognition faded away to what almost seemed like pity, and though she couldn’t read him from here, she knew that he must feel sorry for her, even now.
She didn’t need his pity. She didn’t need anyone’s pity. She was better off by herself, far away from pretty model boys with honeyed words and traitorous eyes, of a tongue that spoke nothing but silver but dripped with latent nightshade.
I hope you’re happy, but don’t be happier.

Kim Possible AU
In which Marinette is in gymnastics, is childhood friends with Adrien, and somehow became an agent-for-hire when someone accidentally dialed her number to call for help instead of actual, professionally trained agents. That’s right, they called a preteen for help, didn’t have the time to call anyone else, and rolled with it.
Also Adrien is a total goofball with a hairless cat. He still has both his parents, who start out overprotective but gradually loosen the reigns when it becomes clear that his friend will keep him safe.
(The reason I put gymnastics and not cheerleading is because I’m pretty sure that’s an exclusively American thing? Besides, gymnastics kind of makes more sense, skillset-wise.)
Origins
     • Marinette took gymnastics since she was seven, mainly because her clumsiness had been turning into a bit of a problem. (Parents start to get worried when their child’s having genuine physical difficulty in not hurting themselves. They thought gymnastics would help her learn balance, and also allow her to burn off some of her natural childlike energy.) By the age of eleven, Marinette is the best in her class, and is thinking about entering competitions.
     • Adrien is Marinette’s childhood best friend. Along with gymnastics, Marinette also started taking ballet, which is where the two met. Adrien was taking ballet because both his parents had taken it, and also because he thought it would be fun. Since he’d been taking it longer than Marinette, he helped her out in class, and the two have been inseparable ever since.
     • Adrien helped Marinette build a website to help get her name out there when they were eleven. They took videos of her doing a couple moves, and added a contact number. Unfortunately, (or, rather fortunately, actually,) Marinette’s number is very similar to a number for a group of agents who do pretty dangerous, life-saving jobs.
     • Marinette’s first call is from a man requesting for help at a rather big bank in Paris, not far from her house. Being eleven, she doesn’t really understand that this is probably something she should inform the police, rather than handle herself. So, she and Adrien (who she sneaks out of his house) rush over, and save the day themselves.
     • Adrien had videotaped the impressive gymnastics Marinette had pulled off in order to safely get through the security lasers and shut them off. After that video was posted, she started getting calls on a much more regular basis, all from people in need of help. It wasn’t the sort of attention she was looking for when making the website, but she can’t deny she doesn’t love her new job.
The Present
     • By the ages of 16, Marinette and Adrien have travelled all over the world, gaining favors from a bunch of grateful individuals, and are pretty dang famous. They aren’t necessarily given special privileges at school, but if things are urgent, then they’re allowed to leave and makeup missing work online.
     • Adrien is still a model, still plays piano, still takes Chinese, and still does a lot of different sports. On his own, he’s actually pretty famous. However, in this world, it’s pretty much impossible for him to display the ‘perfect, gentlemanly son’ persona when most of the world has seen videos of him screaming at the top of his lungs, running around in his underwear because somehow his pants got pulled off again. Yeah, he’s a straight A student with the classic, rich people training, but he’s still an utter dork and everyone knows it.
     • Marinette, while still taking gymnastics, has lost interest in making it a life career when she already sort of does it already. She’s picked up other interests, one of them being fashion design when Adrien had introduced her to what goes on behind the scenes in his workplace. She’s good at designing stylish, yet very practical outfits, and made uniforms for herself and Adrien for their ‘side jobs’ as agents-for-hire.
     • While Adrien isn’t necessarily incompetent, he’s more of the ‘do first, think later’ type of guy when it comes to their dynamic, which often leaves Marinette to do the planning and problem-solving. At this point, it’s kind of abundantly obvious that, while Adrien is academically more profound, Marinette is vastly more analytical, and probably has a ridiculously high IQ if they ever bothered to check.
     • There isn’t a main villain. Papillion doesn’t exist because Gabriel is completely aware of what his son is doing, still has his darling wife, and has literally no reason to waste his money on illegal activities. He’s a big name in the fashion world, it’s not like he’s looking for world domination or something stupid like that.
     • (I’m sure you’re wondering why the fuck Gabriel Agreste would let his only son go off on dangerous adventures like that on a daily. Well, he didn’t at first, but over time Marinette proved to be a more effective bodyguard than Adrien’s actual bodyguard, so he became more chill. Also, Adrien’s the face of his company, and with all the brave and daring things he’s done alongside Marinette, his popularity ratings are through the roof. Son has fun, is well-taken care of, still performs exceptionally in all his extracurriculars, and does well by the family business? It’s a win-win on all sides.)
     • I would make Lila Shego, except Shego is an actually likeable villain who’s genuinely smart, badass, and fun to watch. So, idk who Shego is, definitely not any of the catty girl rivals Marinette has to put up with, but you can’t have a Kim Possible AU without Shego, so she’s definitely in there.
     • Max is probably Wade. Honestly makes the most sense, but here’s a suggestion: Max and Kim are the ones who contact Marinette when she has a mission. Max is great with numbers, technology, etc, but Kim’s expertise in completely random shit like sports, terrain, and necessary gear needed for specific situations makes him a valuable asset to the team.
     • We all know who Chloé is going to be, I don’t even need to say it but I will anyways. Say hello to our Bonnie, everyone. She was probably in that ballet class with Marinette and Adrien too, years ago.
     • While Tom Dupain is still a baker, in this AU Sabine Cheng went on to pursue her dream as a literal rocket scientist, and succeeded. So, Sabine is basically Dr. James Timothy Possible.
     • Adrien has a hairless cat named Plagg. His father is allergic to fur, and Adrien’s allergic to feathers, so he was sort of limited to pets like fish or lizards, neither of which he really wanted. He found Plagg outside gorging himself on camembert by a dumpster. Having been previously a street cat, Plagg’s growth was stunted, so he stayed pretty small.
     • Luka is obviously Josh Mankey. Marinette and Luka date for a while, but eventually break up on mutual terms due to him not being able to handle some of the dangerous things that pop up in her life often. While he doesn’t panic when things go south, he’s not really physically equipped to protect himself... He’s a musician, not a fighter.
     • Listen, y’all can fight me, Marinette’s longest relationship before finally getting together with Adrien is going to be with Kagami. Kagami handles the dangerous things that go on in Marinette’s life perfectly well, and they date for several months. Eventually, they do break up, but still remain good friends. (This is the period in which Adrien realises he’s jealous of Kagami, and has feelings for Marinette.)
Get Together
     • For those of you who haven’t watched Kim Possible, (and honestly what the hell are you even doing with your life if you haven’t,) Kim and Ron get together at a school dance (prom, but I don’t think prom exists in France,) and share a slow dance with each other. Uhhh so basically think Despair Bear, except Adrien and Marinette are wearing fancy clothes, just got together, and share a kiss in the end.
     • Marinette had recently broken up with Kagami before the dance, and is a little upset over not having a date when she already made herself a dress. Adrien is dealing with his realisation that he likes Marinette romantically, but keeps quiet about it and gives her a shoulder to cry on because she’s hurt, and he’s not going to take advantage of that. He suggests they go to the dance together as friends.
     • Kagami is there, and Adrien confronts her as to why she had broken up with the most amazing girl in Paris. She tells him that she came to the conclusion that, though she loved Marinette with all her heart, Marinette clearly had someone else as her #1. Kagami was sick of having to compete for that position when the other person didn’t even need to try. Adrien is left baffled by this.
     • Marinette overhears this as she’s walking over to ask Adrien for a dance. Kagami looked past Adrien’s shoulder, directly into Marinette’s eyes, and smiled knowingly. Then she walked away, sipping at her drink.
     • Adrien turns around, pretty green eyes latching onto hers, and Marinette immediately understands what Kagami had meant. A slow song comes on, and she asks him to dance. Things fall in place from there.
     • (Of course, after they’ve kissed and become a couple, some dumb villain is going to inevitably crash the party and try to kill Marinette, as usual, but they deal with it like they always do.)
Alright that’s the end! This was an almost completed draft of mine I had, and since I’ve been lacking on content recently, I thought I’d quickly polish this up a bit and post it. I also have some other completed things I could polish up on, but eh, don’t feel like it right now. Enjoy!
(And maybe tell me how you’d imagine your favourite KP episode would go with Marinette and Adrien as the protagonists instead!)

I got one more for the sentence prompt. Again something really special to me. "I love you. Like I'm in love with you."
Enjoy my writing? Sponsor a fic chapter!
Chat Noir nearly falls off the Eiffel Tower.
He’s been waiting five years to hear those words from her lips. Imagined how they’d sound. Lovingly rendered each syllable in his mind so many times that he thinks that he might know if she spoke them in Wenzhou, or Swedish, or even /Xhosa. And yet he’s long given up on ever hearing them. Watched her with Luka, with Kagami, with Chloé, assumed there was no place in her heart for him other than as a friend and partner. Resolved to hold his heart shut, to love her from a distance.
He’s dreaming. He must be dreaming.
“And—and I know—I know—” Ladybug says, not looking at him, and there are tears on her eyelashes, those beautiful blue eyes are crying behind the spotted mask and he has no idea what to do. “I know you don’t—don’t feel the same. I know that.”
“Mari—” he says, but his diaphragm chooses the worst moment to freeze, to steal the air from his lungs and leave him with nothing with which to make words.
“I’ve tried—” She sobs, wiping her eyes. “I’ve tried so hard to stop loving you.” Her fists curl against her shaking knees. “I’ve tried to move on, I have, I swear, but I—” Her voice drops to a whisper. “Adrien,” she says. “None of them are you.”
Chat Noir has always prided himself on having something to say. In every situation. He’s completely speechless now. Slack-jawed.
“You don’t want me,” she says, drawing her knees into her chest, making herself even smaller than she normally is. “You don’t—you… you’re the most important person in my life, Chaton, and I don’t—” She coughs out a sob, her entire body shivering with the force. “I’m sorry,” she says, rocking slightly. “I—I shouldn’t have said anything. Let’s just—let’s forget the whole thing, okay? We can… pretend this never happened, we can—”
“Why?” he whispers.
Her eyes flutter open, and he sees her irises flick toward him, but she doesn’t unfold.
“Why would I?” he says. “Forget. Pretend. Bug—” He chokes. “Marinette. Princess. My Lady—I’ve been waiting five years to—to hear you say those words.” His jaw quivers. “Please don’t take them back now.”
She stares at him, depthless blue eyes unblinking. “Oh,” she says, disappointment filling her voice. “I’m—I’m dreaming.” Her face falls, and she sobs, slamming a fist into the i-beam they’re currently perched on. “I’m dreaming again.”
He reaches out, caresses her face, but she turns away. “Please,” she whispers. “Don’t.”
Chat draws back, confused.
Ladybug shakes her head. “Adrien doesn’t—doesn’t do romance,” she says. “It makes him—anyone getting close like that, it makes him uncomfortable. That’s why the, the mystery coworker. That’s why Chat Noir keeps proclaiming his love for me.” She drops her head between her knees. “It keeps him off the market.”
“Did he—” Chat clears his throat. “Did he tell you that?” He knows he didn’t. Or at least… he’s pretty sure. It’s not true. She knows that, right? The mystery coworker—he thought she knew!
“He didn’t need to,” she says. “Just… look at the way he reacts when anyone makes romantic advances. Like he wants to leap out a window.” She looks at him, her eyes soft and sad. “I never—I never wanted—” She sobs again, burying her head into her elbow.
“Bugaboo—” He reaches out, touches her arm. “You…”
“Why else would he never date anyone?” she whispers into her elbows.
“Because I was waiting for you!” he cries.
Her head snaps around.
“You never wanted me!” he says, throwing his arms outward. “Every time I said anything, you brushed me off! Or turned me down, or…” He slumps his head. “And—and Marinette never—you never wanted to spend time with me unless… unless Nino and Alya were around.”
She stares at him, her mouth open.
“After the…” He waggles his claws. “You know, after we knew… I thought—I thought maybe Marinette might finally… be able to stand me, you know?”
“Stand you?” Ladybug yelps. “Adrien, I—I—I…”
“But…” He sighs. “Then you had Luka.” He leans back against the strut. “And then Kagami, and Chloé, and then you were talking about that guy Jagged introduced you to…” He closes his eyes. “I never wanted anyone but you. You were my everything.” He stops, presses a hand against his forehead. Feels his claws catch against his bangs. “Were—are. You are my everything.”
Ladybug curls up, presses her palms against her temples. “No,” she whispers. “No, that can’t be—that can’t be right. You can’t—you didn’t—”
Chat laughs darkly. “I figured, if you didn’t love me, I could at least love you. From a distance, where I couldn’t hurt you. You never needed to know.”
“All this time,” Ladybug whispers. “You were waiting for me?”
Chat nods. “Always have,” he says. “Always will.”
Her fingers are around his bell. She’s pulling him forward. He can feel her tears slide from her lips to his as they press together, and little gods—his heart won’t beat. His lungs won’t breathe. His mind won’t think.
She breaks away with a gasp. “I love you, Adrien,” she says. “I love you. I love Chat Noir. I’ve loved you both since the day we met.”
Chat’s lungs collapse as he curls in on himself. “N-no,” he whispers. “This isn’t—this isn’t right.”
“What?”
“This has to be an—an Akuma.” He looks up at her—can feel the wetness in his eyes. “I’m not... allowed to be this happy. It just doesn’t happen.”
“Oh, Chaton,” Ladybug says, her face shining with tears. She presses her hand against his cheek. “We’re so damn stupid.” She smiles. “Remember Dark Cupid?”
He glares at her. “You know damn well that I do not.”
She giggles, and oh, she’s sparkling again, she’s—“A kiss,” she says. “A kiss breaks the Akuma’s spell.”
He doesn’t object.
(He does ask her to test it a few extra times, just to make sure.)

Six Sentence Sunday (1/26/20)
people seemed to like the kagaminette fic, so here’s another snippet!
“You can tell me about these fashion ideas of yours. And that gap year your…” Kagami paused on the word, not quite hesitating, not quite believing it. “Your friend… is planning on taking.”
Marinette was beaming when Kagami turned back toward her, all thoughts of complications seemingly gone. She all but skipped down the steps, and Kagami followed after her, and it was times like these, when they were simply strolling down the street, that she was glad she’d picked Marinette after all. And it was times like these, when Marinette tugged on her sleeve and loosely wrapped her hand around Kagami’s wrist, that Kagami found herself starting to wish, vaguely, for the day she could hold Marinette’s hand back.

Heaecanons for Akumatized!Kagami being in love with Marinette?
I love Kagaminette <3
Kagami, unfortunately, was not a stranger to becoming akumatized, but to be akumatized because of what she thought to be unrequited love… She wished other people didn’t see her.
In her akumatized form, she couldn’t really think straight, and from past experience she knew she wouldn’t really remember anything from the experience, but her emotions still controlled her.
She knew Marinette was stressed, and she didn’t want to add onto that stress, but her akumatized form didn’t care anymore, it just wanted to tell Marinette about her feelings.
So she kept going around, trying to find Marinette to tell her and protect her from stress. Marinette was far from a perfect person, but she deserved the world in Kagami’s eyes.
She even told Ladybug and Chat Noir about it after they removed the akuma from her, and Ladybug encouraged her to tell Marinette. She figured she just might, once she found the words.

I honestly have never made a post like this before, but I'm a little desperate at the moment.
Hi, I'm Griffin. A couple months ago I finally stopped living with my parents. Yay! Unfortunately, it's been incredibly difficult to find a job where I live I'm broke now, and don't have enough for next months rent. I've been frantically job hunting, but the job pool where I live is small and I'd need a car, which I don't have as I'm physically unable to drive, to get to anywhere else, so now I'm in a but of a pickle.
However! I have skills that I can potentially provide as a service in exchange for possibly being paid! So I set up a Kofi, and hopefully this post will get some traction.
Officially, commissions are open, I guess. I'm primarily a writer, my fics are tagged on this account under 'griffins fics'. I also draw, but not as frequently, nor as well, so maybe look at the art I have up before deciding if you want so.ething done. I'm also willing to do some voice acting, though I don't have any kind of portfolio, of sorts, and I'm a musician (I sing and play the guitar)!
To refrain from filling your dash with an excessively long post I'll make a cut here. If you're interested in commissioning me, look under the cut for more specifics of what I can provide
Fandoms and pairings (for fic commissions):
BNHA: Erasermic, Dabihawks, and pretty much any ship (including poly ships) or friendship between the 1A students. (No E rated fics for this fandom, sorry guys)
Homestuck: DaveKat, JohnKat, JohnDave, JohnDirk, CallieRoxy, JaneCallieRoxy, honestly most ships so long as it's not a -cestship (ie. dersecest, stridercest, JohnJake, etc.), as well as friendship and gen fics. Your choice if it's written in 2nd or 3rd person.
DCMK: KaiShin, HakuKai, and once again, and friendship or gen fics are welcome too!
ML: Any love square ship, Kagaminette, Adrigaminette, DJWifi, as well as friendship and gen fics! (This fandom as well is a no E rated fics zone for me)
MISC.: If there is a pairing you'd like me to write for that's not listed, but also is not blacklisted (see: Homestuck), I'm probably willing to write it for you, I just might not have thought to list it because some fandoms can have a lot of characters and ships I like (once again, see: Homestuck). Go ahead and message me about it! Also, if you see I've written for a fandom in the past that I didn't include on this list (like Haikyuu, and a couple others), or have another fandom you'd like me to write, please contact me here on tumblr, or through the Kofi site itself. Depending on the fandom/pairing, I'll still also probably write it, I just probably didn't think to list it!
I don't have any set prices for anything yet, as I don't have much reference, but hopefully after a few commissions I'll set up a fair standard. Until then though, we can work out a price for the commission!
Thanks for reading all the way to the end, I truly appreciate the support!

i uploaded the first chapter of my enemies to lovers kagaminette story because i couldn’t help myself.
the plot is basically ladybug has to go into hiding and so she gives out all the miraculouses she has given in the past. (some measures are taken with ryuko and queen bee)
luka and nino aren’t that big of characters. and neither are kim and max. there’s going to be one or two kimax chapters before i’m done with them. it’s mainly just marinette alya chat noir and kagami and chloe. chloe gets redemption
super cute platonic marichat scenes.
basically adrien figured out who ladybug is and now they hang out regularly in her bedroom.
this is like super slow burn kagaminette though. like kagami starts out liking marinette as a friend and then she hates her and then she falls head over heels when they go on a mission together.

ML Sweet-ember day 1
My top 10 list of episodes! They’re not in any particular order but these are the 10 episodes I enjoy most in the show and why.
1. Heart Hunter
Tumblr media
Aka the episode that made me sell my soul to Adrigaminette. It’s just...perfect to highlight how well the three of them work together, and it’s got Adrien and Kagami having fun, and Marinette with her hair down, and I just love love to rewatch it whenever I’m down because of these three idiots.
2. Sapotis
Tumblr media
Look!!! At how!!! Ecstatic!!! She is!!!
This episode is basically Alya’s time to shine and I love it, I love her, and I always go back and rewatch it when I want to be cheered up because it’s so SOFT.
3. Anansi
Tumblr media
HE LOVES ALYA SO MUCH LOOK HOW DETERMINED HE IS TO SAVE HER I’M 🥺🥺
And she just??? Figured it out??? Right away??? This is THE DJWiFi episode for me and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve rewatched it for the softness.
4. Oblivio
Tumblr media
“No wonder I fell in love with you.”
*screams forever*
THEY WORK SO FLUIDLY TOGETHER EVEN WITHOUT THEIR MEMORIES AND ESSENTIALLY ON A BLANK SLATE JSDFBSKDJFSD
5. Stormy Weather
Tumblr media
The animation is just...GORGEOUS. So crisp and fluid! And the banter between Ladybug and Chat Noir! If anyone insists that Ladybug secretly hates Chat, this is the episode I aggressively point to. And Marinette’s fumbling awkardness! And as one of the very first episodes, it’s just so...nostalgic. A true feel-good episode.
6. Gorizilla
Tumblr media
THE ADRINETTE!!!! AND LADRIEN!!!! WE WERE SO SPOILED THIS EPISODE!!!!
Adrien trusting Ladybug to save him! 🥺 And figuring out how to keep his identity a secret! 🥺 And running around Paris and then disguising themselves! 🥺 And the role reversal of Adrien of the damsel in distress kidnapped by the giant monster! 🥺 This episode is just AAAAAAAAA
7. Origins (parts 1 and 2)
Tumblr media
THE UMBRELLA SCENE JKSHKSDJFHDSJKFSHFSDJKFSDHJK
Okay, it’s totally not cheating to smush them together, because it’s essentially one episode cut in two! Just...seeing how these two idiots fell for each other! How it wasn’t love at first sight but rather flawed first impressions that they had to work past!  Chat Noir being there for Ladybug right from the very start! The unstoppable team! It’s pretty much a sin not to include this on the list.
“Whoever she is beneath that mask...I love that girl.”
8. Ikari Gozen
Tumblr media
RYUUUUUUUUKKKKKOOOOOOOOO
I’ve heard complaints that this made Marinette look like a bitch but actually? It showed her flaws in a really good way, like the lengths she’ll go to be with Adrien, and it wasn’t inconsistent with past moments she’s had. She’s a kind precious bean, yeah, but she’s only human, not some amazingly perfect queen that some people make her out to be.
And it delved deeper into Kagami’s psyche too! I know there was a lot of hate for Kagami before this episode for being a bitchy Ice Queen, but I had faith in her and this episode delivered. And it’s what truly kickstarted my belief that she’s autistic (like me!!!!) because I just...resonated with her. Having to use apps to make friends? At this point, I’m close to it.
ALSO KAGAMINETTE
9. Startrain
Tumblr media
BABIES 🥺
The sleeping scene will always kick me in the gut just as hard the first time. And Alya showing that she’s got Marinette’s back, contrary to what people think! And Max becoming a superhero! And seeing him with his mother! I just...AAAAAA
10. Dark Cupid
Tumblr media
Only love 🥺 can conquer 🥺 hate 🥺 And the poem!!!!!
There’s not much I can say beyond this being a super feel-good episode and keyboard smashing tbh. It speaks for itself.
Honorable mentions:
Riposte: the Ladrien! Kagami’s introduction! I’m so soft!
Weredad: a whole pot of Marichat awkwardness and I LOVE it
Reflekdoll: KWAMI SWAP AND BANTER AND CLOWN SUITS OH MY
The Pharaoh: aka the start of Alya being the damsel in distress and she’s already so done with it and it really shows the Ladyblog for the first time and I just love her to bits
Gamer: seeing their teamwork 🥺 And Max deserves a whole lot of love too! Not many people would openly accept their defeat and then walk away to process their emotions, rather than exploding and taking them out on others.
The Dark Owl: seeing how much they trust each other 🥺
Troublemaker: “Are you lying to me?” 😏
Chat Blanc: seeing what could have been 🥺 It just hurts too much to truly rewatch and make it into the top 10

Summary: Marinette gets a package from Japan shortly before Christmas, with a special hinted message. Kagaminette.
Note: Several people on the Discord server I used to take part in gave me the idea of Kagami sending treats to Marinette from Japan. I did a lot of research, and if I got anything wrong that's on me. More on the kimono here: https://rosethornewrites.tumblr.com/post/611555117585629184/love-language-kimono

The lines were coming together on the shirt taking form on the page of her sketchbook, meant to match the skirt beside it, an embroidery pattern partly drawn out on the page next to it. Vaguely, she heard someone calling, but it wasn’t enough to break through to her as she paused in the shirt design to add more aspects to the embroidery idea.
This was a planned outfit for Kagami, something she could wear at formal occasions that wasn’t a kimono, but she only had vague ideas still.
Even though Marinette’s lycée still had several weeks until it was let out for the holidays, Kagami’s private schooling had allowed her to accompany her mother to Japan, where they would stay through Christmas. That gave Marinette a bit more time to make her gift, thankfully.
“Marinette?”
Marinette was startled out of her creative fugue when Sabine’s head popped into her room.
“Maman?”
“You must have been in the zone. You have a package from Japan.” Sabine had a twinkle in her eye. “I can’t imagine who that’s from!”
Marinette could feel her cheeks turn red, flustered and excited. She stood and rushed down past her mother to find a positively immense box in Tom’s arms.
Her jaw dropped. That had to have cost Kagami a lot, and here Marinette had to wait for her to return to give her her Christmas gift.
Tom laughed at the look on her face. “Your girlfriend must love you a lot to send such a big package international.”
He didn’t wait for her reply, instead lugging the package into her room and setting it next to the chaise.
“We’ll give you some privacy to open it, hon,” Tom told her. They left her to it.
Marinette pulled her non-sewing scissors from a drawer and took a seat, reaching forward to trace Kagami’s name. She loved how Japanese names worked, something Kagami had explained when showing her the characters that made up Kagami. Hers was 香海, which she had explained broke down into “incense” and “ocean.” A fragrant ocean.
It had inspired Marinette to call her ma sirène. In retaliation, of sorts, Kagami had started calling her Mari-tō, which she said was essentially “sugar Mari,” joking it was a bastardized term of endearment. They had giggled over that, and Mme. Tsurugi just shook her head the first time she heard Kagami say it.
“Oh, I wonder what she sent for you!” Tikki exclaimed, alighting on the box.
She gently slid the blade of the scissors under the flap to slit the tape, and opened it once Tikki took to the air again. The first thing, atop what seemed like a mountain of smaller boxes, was an envelope labelled “マリー糖, please open after the gifts.” It made her smile.
Underneath, there were two packages labelled for her parents, and so she pulled them out and took them downstairs, letting Tikki know she’d be right back.
The bakery was closed for the day, and her parents were preparing supper.
“Maman, Papa, Kagami sent gifts for you!”
She presented the packages, brightly wrapped in beautiful paper, to her parents, then sat at the kitchen table to watch them open them. She’d get to her own later.
Tom opened his first, revealing a deep green silk men’s kimono, with a pattern that looked like a bamboo forest. When he opened it, they were able to see the green faded lighter toward the bottom, which had an intricate pattern of different trees. An envelope fell with it, and the paper inside explained it was a shōchikubai “three friends of winter” pattern of pine, bamboo, and plum, which symbolized strength and happiness. The letter explained how to wear the kimono, and underneath the kimono itself were all the pieces of clothing to wear with the kimono, including the obi and zori.
At the very bottom of Tom’s box was also a book on traditional Japanese sweets, which he immediately started flipping through.
Sabine’s kimono was far more intricate, red with white blossoms on branches woven throughout. On the back was a golden dragon. An envelope underneath had a note explaining the meaning of the flowers—plum, or ume, blossoms, which Kagami chose due to their dual meanings in Japanese tradition and Chinese philosophy. Good fortune, elegance, and faithfulness in Japanese tradition, and the five blessings of longevity, prosperity, health, virtue, and good living in Chinese philosophy. The golden dragon represented wisdom, kindness, and helpfulness, and was holding a pearl to indicate good fortune.
In addition to the same instructions as Tom’s letter, Sabine’s included an invitation from Mme. Tsurugi for the family to attend a traditional Japanese New Year celebration at the Tsurugi manor and visit Sanctuaire Yabuhara with the Tsurugi family. The kimono were, in part, for them to wear to the event.
Sabine looked up at Marinette, her eyes shining. “She says you have one, too.”
Marinette tore back up the stairs and pulled a similar looking package from the box, bringing it downstairs to open.
The kimono was deep purple fading to white and back, with a beautiful wave of flowers splayed across it—pink and white roses, lily of the valley, purple and white lilacs, bluebells, among others. She knew before she read the note the symbols—innocence and love, purity, reverence, trust, happiness.
She didn’t realize she was crying until Sabine dabbed at her cheek with a tissue.
“She really loves you,” Sabine murmurs. “She’s so good for you.”
The letter told her there were violets to represent the sincere bliss of their relationship. White and pink sakurasou for long-lasting love. Falling ume blossoms for the same reason as Sabine’s, but also to represent Marinette’s pure heart. Camellias for perfect love.
“This must be why she asked for all our measurements before she left,” Marinette said finally, snuggling against Sabine. “I had no idea she planned to do this. Proper kimono are incredibly expensive, and these must be custom!”
Sabine simply smiled. “You’re dating a very traditional girl, and for her family money is no object. And I believe the symbols she chose clearly indicate her intentions.”
Marinette felt her face turning red, and she realized that her parents looked absolutely blissful.
She couldn’t say it was completely unexpected—she and Kagami started dating shortly following her fifteenth birthday, after Kagami had given up on her relationship with Adrien—it had been going nowhere, and it seemed he had someone else on his mind.
It hadn’t been Marinette; she was his ‘good friend,’ and in having André serve ice cream for Kagami and Adrien, she had given up on anything more. He didn’t see her like that. And, as it turned out, it seemed neither she nor Kagami were in his heart.
She had briefly tried to return Luka’s feelings, but he had recognized her heart wasn’t in it, and had asked instead for her friendship.
When Kagami had informed her, at her birthday party, that she wished to date her, Marinette had been thrown for a complete loop. The following days had been filled with self-reflection and careful consideration; she’d been thirteen when she’d fallen for Adrien, and her obsession had left her little room to consider her own identity. She’d never thought beyond.
Eventually, she had confessed uncertainty to Kagami, who had asked that they attempt to date and if it didn’t work out, remain friends.
Over two years later, Marinette could say with certainty that she loved Kagami Tsurugi.
When Sabine shooed her from the kitchen to open the rest of her gifts, she felt like she was walking on clouds. She brought her kimono and letter with her, and got to listen to Tikki talk about all the different complex meanings of the flowers and exclaim over the quality of the fabric and embroidery.
The process of opening the rest of the packages, filled with gorgeous fabrics, seeds for Japanese flowers, crafting supplies, stationery, several hair sticks, and Japanese treats slowly brought her down.
When Marinette opened the last package, however, it felt like the world stopped. Spread at the top of the box was a tiny kimono, black with branches of red and white tree peonies, and very tiny ladybugs. She nearly dropped the box.
Underneath was an envelope with a ladybug drawn on it.
“Tikki… I, uh…”
Tikki landed on her shoulder. “Oh…”
She opened the envelope with shaking hands, reading quickly. The letter revealed that Kagami had figured it out a few months ago, having caught a glimpse of Tikki and connecting it to her experience with Longg. The peonies represented good fortune and honor. And of course ladybugs symbolized luck—but also had an association with lovers in Japan.
Under the letter were a variety of Japanese sweets, including some specialty yatsuhashi from Kyoto and different flavors of konpeitō.
The letter ended, “Please tell your kwami that these gifts are a measure of appreciation—for the guidance and protection she has given you.”
“That’s very sweet of her, Marinette,” Tikki offered. “She, um… I think she caught me the last time she spent the night.”
She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself; she was the Guardian now, so she made the rules. Marinette could allow her girlfriend to be aware of her identity as Ladybug. It felt a little like cheating, though.
Tikki seemed to recognize the decision and quickly pulled on the kimono—it looked adorable on her.
Marinette tore open the letter addressed to her.
マリー糖 ,
I would have told you all of this in person, but you tend to catastrophize, and I thought you might prefer to do that privately in the counsel of your kwami. I am given to understand that she has helped you gain a measure of self-confidence in the years since her arrival. I have been honored to know the you shaped by the responsibilities you took up, as you are passionate, kind, and honorable.
I know this places you in an awkward position, but I of course will protect this knowledge with my life, for it is yours.
Mother wishes I inform you that she tried sakura macrons at a famous pâtisserie in Tokyo, and they were pitiful in comparison to those your father made for her last spring. The book she sent for him includes multiple types of pastries and jellies he may enjoy experimenting with, some of them sakura-focused. She hopes to order some traditional winter treats for her party, and I will send you a list upon your confirmation of receipt of this package.
I look forward to celebrating the New Year and sharing our traditions in the coming weeks, and to greeting the first sun of the new year with you and your family. Perhaps we can observe the Chinese New Year together in accordance with the traditions of your ancestors.
Yours always,
香海
Marinette held the letter to her chest, touched by Kagami’s desire to share their traditions together. The idea spread warmth through her, and eventually she set the letter aside with a soft sigh.
“I suppose it’s okay she knows… since I didn’t tell her.” She gave Tikki a rueful smile.
Tikki looked sheepish, even as she preened over how she looked in the kwami-sized kimono. “You’re the Guardian now, Marinette. You get to make the rules.”
She sighed. “Yeah. I just wish it was safer—we need to work harder to uncover Hawkmoth’s identity so that threat is ended. I need to be able to plan for after lycée.”
She sent a text message to Kagami to let her know she received the package and to video chat with her at her earliest convenience, then decided to try on her own kimono.
The instructions were easy to follow, despite the layers. It was a very traditional kimono, involving a hadajuban, nagajuban, and soft sash to go under the kimono. It was almost a soothing process, putting on each layer, folding each side of the kimono properly, tying on the datejime, and finally tying the lovely obi—pink with cranes—into one of the knot options. It was not easy afterward getting the tabi socks on, which told her next time to do it before the kimono. The zori slipped right on, though it was odd to get used to them.
Just as she finished, her phone rang, and she slid her finger against the bar to accept the call.
“You look stunning in that, as I expected,” Kagami said. “I wish I could see more.”
Tikki grabbed the phone from Marinette’s hands and moved it away so she could twirl.
“Much obliged to your kwami. You truly do look lovely. Though, in the future, fold left over right. Right over left is for the dressing of a body at a funeral. I should have written that in the instructions—I apologize. As such, it is a bit discomfiting seeing you dressed in that fashion.”
Marinette let Tikki keep holding the phone while she quickly untied the obi and datejime to correct the mistake, then retied both.
Kagami beamed at her. “Absolutely beautiful. I look forward to seeing your parents in them on the New Year. I will send you a list of the traditional activities to expect for my mother’s soiree. You will be meeting a larger portion of my family, to be introduced to them.”
Marinette took the phone back from Tikki, who landed on her shoulder.
“Ah,” Kagami said, surprised. “I can see the kimono, but nothing else. That is fascinating.”
“Her name is Tikki,” Marinette confessed.
“I apologize for discovering your secret. It was unintentional on both our parts.”
That got a nod from Tikki.
“It’s okay,” she replied softly. “I… It’s a relief that someone else knows, honestly. Especially when that someone is you.”
“I am honored to know, and it explains quite a bit. Your disappearances at times, for instance.”
Marinette could feel her face turning red.
“I had not realized they all coincided with Akuma attacks, to be honest. I had worried you were hiding a chronic ailment.”
She couldn’t quite stop herself from giggling at that. “Oh, you must have been worried.”
“I still am, Mari-糖,” Kagami said seriously. “But I hope with my knowledge, I can perhaps be of service in the coming year, perhaps to end Hawkmoth’s reign of terror for good. But we can discuss that later—it is quite late here in Kyoto, and I have commitments early tomorrow. I simply wished to make sure you weren’t upset.”
“I’m not,” Marinette said with a smile. “I could never be, not with you. Sleep well, ma sirène.”
After hanging up, Marinette sat back on her chaise with a sigh. “Tikki, I think she’s hoping to introduce me as her intended for New Year.”
Tikki patted her cheek. “And how do you feel about that, Marinette?”
She was quiet for a moment, letting the sounds of her parents making dinner float through her open door, the scent of lasagna wafting in as well.
“I—”
The phone dinged, and the text message was from Kagami, with a list of different sweets Mme. Tsurugi wanted to order for the party. It also featured a stunning picture of Kagami in an intricate kimono with gold, black, and red, covered in white geometric patterns with a bouquet of flowers in the front and sprigs of blossoms throughout.
She looked amazing.
And suddenly Marinette knew exactly what she wanted to make Kagami for Christmas—a qipao to wear when they celebrated the Chinese New Year, with the gold five-clawed Long embroidered on it. And she would make her own with a phoenix, in colors that complimented Kagami’s.
Marinette stood, changing quickly and hanging her kimono and all its undergarments in the closet, before settling back in front of her sketchbook and turning to a new page.
By the time her mother called her for dinner, she had much of the concept sketched out, complete with plum blossoms, lilies, and a lotus cupped in the claw of the dragon. She intended for her phoenix to cup one as well in its talon.
Kagami wasn’t the only one who knew how to use symbolism. Marinette intended to have this ready to present to her girlfriend before the New Year, to give the answer to the question she was hinting she’d ask.

Mistletoe - Kagaminette
Kagami and Marinette had frequented this cafe for the past few months. Every Wednesday, they would meet up and come to the cafe to catch up with each other or just chat away aimlessly. It was Kagami’s favorite two hours of the week. This was their little space, with no one to bother them. No mom nagging her and expecting perfection. No classmates to murmur harsh whispers under their breaths around her. Just Marinette and her lovely personality.
“The usual?” Sam the cashier asked the two teenagers.
“The usual,” Marinette agreed. This was her week to pay. Next week was Kagami’s. They decided they would alternate weeks since they were both stubborn about not wanting the other to pay.
“Have you made your move yet?” Sam asked Marinette who hung back to wait for their orders.
“No!” She hushed him. “I still haven’t figured out how to do it. Maybe I should just give up,” she sighed dejectedly.
“Oh, Marinette. Don’t worry, I got you.” He handed her the drinks with a wink and walked away. Marinette was a little concerned but didn’t question the cashier.
“How’s your latest project coming along?” Kagami asked her friend.
“Oh, it’s been a pain but…” Marinette jumped into detail about the complicated stitches she was attempting to put into a shirt she was making. Kagami paid attention to the way her voice was full of confidence, her eyes bright and wide, her shoulders squared with determination. She knew exactly what to ask to get the girl talking. Marinette just looked so peaceful and animated when speaking about things she was passionate about.
“You think you’ll have it done by the holidays?”
“Oh, yeah. It’s a challenge for sure, but I think I’ll have it mastered by then.” The conversation lulled and switched to school topics until Sam came over with a step latter.
“Excuse me, ladies. I’m just going to hang up some Christmas decorations. Don’t mind me.” He winked at the bluenette.
“Speaking of Christmas decorations, I’ve seen the bakery. It looks lovely. Did you and your mother decorate?”
“Yeah. Dad tried to help, but got tangled in the lights.” Kagami laughed at the image of Tom Dupain-Cheng laying on the floor entangled in a string of lights. “Mom put mistletoe on the kitchen doorframe so she has an excuse to kiss my father every time they are there together.” Marinette rolled her eyes but had a huge smile plastered on her face.
“I wonder what it would be like to be kissed under the mistletoe,” Kagami tried to hint without being too obvious.
“Ask and you shall receive!” Sam stepped down and pointed at the light that was hanging over them. There were quite a few of the plants hanging from it.
“Sam!” Marinette chuckled and her face flushed. So that’s what he was winking about, she thought.
“Well, it is tradition, isn’t it? I would hate to let him down,” Kagami sounded coy, but Marinette knew she was teasing.
“I suppose your right. For tradition’s sake.”
Marinette reached over and gingerly took Kagami’s face in her hands. The kiss sent shivers down her spine and she sighed in delight.
Every time after that, Kagami often found herself kissing the baker’s daughter because of the mistletoe that was strategically placed around the house they hung around often. Not that she minded, of course. She thanked the small plant for giving her the courage to confess her feelings and finally ask Marinette out.

Kagaminette fic part 2
This is basically a whimsical, somewhat silly sequel of a kagaminette fic in an "Oni-chan AU" created by @gale-of-the-nomads that I wrote.
Had this on the making since May but I was a tad stuck....
Anyway, I hope you enjoy
---------------------------------
Part 2: let's get some ice cream
Another day started for Kagami Tsurugi. Just yesterday, she made the resolution of winning the love of Marinette Dupain-Cheng, a classmate of her fencing partner and fellow student, Adrien Agreste. At first, she didn't have a positive opinion of the younger girl because she appeared to be stringing Adrien along but it was all a misunderstanding and once that was cleared and they actually interacted one on one, Kagami was completely stricken by Cupid's arrow. She fell in love with Marinette!
That being said, she was not blind to the blue haired girl's infatuation to her rival. After all, they knew each other for a considerable period of time and she could understand what Marinette sees in him...at least until recent events.
When it seemed an opportunity has arisen, it all ended with her getting akumatized once more out of anger for the sadness her hime was feeling thanks to that liar's machinations.
Ladybug saved her once more and even listened to her venting about the circumstances that led to her akumatization.
She wasn't sure if she actually told the superheroine about her crush on the blue eyed girl and she hoped she didn't as it was something to be known on her own terms…
The decision was made: she would invite Marinette to eat ice cream with her and start to bond with her as the first step to winning her heart.
'what if she doesn't return your feelings?' an ugly voice in her head asked prompting the fencer to reply with certain force:
"Then I'll accept it and be the pillar she needs in the present. Also, don't think you can deter me from trying you unexpected insecure unconscious!"
Along that "voice", came those weird dreams revolving around her desire to ask Marinette out for ice cream. Scenarios like but not limited to: being in her Oni-Chan form and carrying Marinette on her shoulder to eat ice cream, her dueling Adrien and stabbing him (non fatally of course) and carrying Marinette on her shoulder off to eat ice cream and last but not least bizarre, Kagami arriving to the school entrance in a motorcycle (which she wanted to have in the future), dressed in a tokofukku and asking Marinette on a date while Korpiklaani (one of her secret guilty pleasures) played on the background.
"Why in the world would I, of all people, go to school dressed as some lowly bousouzoku!?"
This last thought crossed as she tried to meditate to calm her mind and prepare for today's school day before she was called for breakfast, which just happened as soon as she finished that train of thought.
Xxxxxxxxxx
Breakfast went okay without a problem as Kagami ate quietly while putting all her thoughts into accomplishing today's mission.
"Mother I'm finished so I'll be going to school. Will I see you for lunch?"
"Of course. I'll tell you if some eventuality occurs; now be safe and have a productive day"
Tomoe sensed something was a bit off with her daughter and while she expected for daughter to be able to sort whatever issue she was dealing with if possible but if not, she also expected, more like hoped, that Kagami would come to her.
Xxxxxxx
Morning went without problems of any kind in Kagami's class and went lunch time finally came, two things happened before she could even reach Marinette:
1) Marinette wasn't at the cafeteria when she got there
2) She received a message saying the driver, Takeo, was already here to take her to have lunch with her mother and she knew better than making her wait
Lunch was mainly peaceful and amicable though inside the fencer's mind all she could think of is to fulfill her little quest even if things were starting to look a tad difficult.
"Kagami is something the matter? You seem rather hiperfocused today"
"It's nothing I can't handle mother. I'm returning to school now. I'll see you at home at night"
As Kagami was about to cross the door, Tomoe said the words that would make her usually cool demeanor falter.
"Good luck with that "Hime" person by the way"
"D'oh!" Kagami reflexively said while recoiling her body a bit. She thought it was all kept in her mind but she didn't realize she was muttering it all and her mother picked it up.
"Do not "D'oh!" Young lady, it's unbecoming of a Tsurugi now go before your Hime gets away" finished the Tsurugi matriarch with a hint of a teasing smirk.
Kagami opted for a quick exit before she would feel even more embarrassment.
"I told you she could swing both ways mistress" said the butler that was picking things up from the table.
"And I don't mind provided is someone worthy of my daughter and our lineage"
Xxxxxxxxxx
School was done for the day and she didn't have fencing practice. Nothing was going to stop her this time.
Not even a conniving person standing outside the door of Marinette's classroom.
"Kagami! Is good to see you! Are you looking for someone? Adrien had to go to a photoshoot with his father if that's who you are looking for"
"Rossi... I'm not looking for Adrien on this occasion and about who I'm looking for... I'd rather keep it to myself" said the fencer promptly while entering the classroom in search of her person of interest, who sadly, wasn't in the classroom anymore and unfortunately; a pest that didn't want to go apparently.
"You know, since I've started to bond more with Adrien and Mr. Agreste, I thought we could do the same. For example, I could help you avoid the wrong people to associate with like Ma-"
"I'm stopping you right here. Gossip and badmouthing will not get you anywhere with me. Regardless of my friendship with Agreste, unless you actually stop perpetuating a stereotype, I'd rather keep my distance" the fencer interrupted Lila and left her behind and angry that her scheme hadn't worked.
Of course she was going to slander Marinette and she would be damned of she fell for such petty tactic, not when she had important things to do.
She didn't have to look further because Marinette was a few steps before her and it seems that she was looking for her as well.
"Hi Kagami. Aurore told you were looking for me...is something the matter?"
"There's nothing wrong Marinette" Kagami didn't like how tired and defensive the younger girl sounded and looked. She definitely had to do something about it.
"I've been wondering if you would like to eat ice cream with me this afternoon? I wanted to know how were you feeling after the last time we talked...if you're actually busy then there's no problem, we can do it on another occasion"
"Actually, I'm free this afternoon so I accept your invitation Kagami. Do you know Andre?"
Xxxxxxxxxxxx
Since Kagami hadn't visited Andre's ice cream stand before, Marinette guided them both said place. They didn't said a word to each other, neither knowing how to start a conversation at the moment but both had to admit the silence was comfortable enough in their mutual company.
One look at them and Andre managed to make a special ice cream for the two of them. It had blueberry, blackberry and cranberry with a bit of chocolate sauce and a cherry on top; a ladybug themed ice cream? Kagami inferred and Marinette had the same opinion until a few scoops later she had this little revelation:
"Is this ice cream Kagami themed!?"
She had heard many stories about how Andre had a good eye for potential couples as her parents loved to claim in their engagement story and it's true that Kagami cared about her more than she thought possible but still, love was a bit of a sore issue given the one person she was fully in love with, had let her down many times in the past weeks. She honestly didn't know what to think or feel.
"So after the last incident, how have you been? Have you gotten enough sleep? Are you eating well?" Marinette inquired, making Kagami swoon internally but she was more interested in how the blue eyed girl was doing.
"I have been fine thanks for asking. But I'm more interested in how have you been. I heard you're having a hard time as of late"
Taking a deep breath and exhaling, the blunette started retelling how her problems with Lila started from the Tinnitus to a moment during a class intermission where Lila bragged about how one of her family members owned a successful chain of bakeries and while she had heard so many good about my family's business, she couldn't help but to think that they were lacking in quality.
"Lacking! And then she goes and talks big about the supposed pastries she can make while low key insulting my family's business and ability and when I understandably get mad, let it know and I get labeled as the bad guy because I supposedly attacked poor Lila when she was just trying to give me "constructive criticism"!
I'm starting to think that so many akumatizations are starting to affect their IQ… *takes a deep breath* then, I get another sermon from Adrien about the high road and all of that crap…. I shouldn't have said that about him but his advice is not helping me at all... it's like everyone but me gets their feelings protected and well, is making me reconsider a lot of things in my life"
Pausing for a moment, Marinette realized that Kagami was holding her closer while rubbing her back tenderly. She hadn't feel the warmth of another person aside from her owns parents in a long time that she almost forgot what it felt like and she was enjoying every moment of it, even putting her head on the fencer's shoulder.
"Thank you. I've been on my own during this for a long time that it's always good to have someone in my corner if you get what I mean"
"I completely understand. Marinette, I know we didn't start on the best terms thanks to my assumptions but I now know that I was wrong; I admire not only the way you put all you've got into your passions but your integrity even if you can be impulsive and a bit insecure so I would like to be there for you if you'll let me”
Kagami put as much as sincerity in her words to convey her feelings and good intentions to her love interested and actually succeeded because Marinette's face lightened so to speak.
"Thank you Kagami. This means a lot to me...would you like to exchange phone numbers and e-mails? I would love to keep contact with you, maybe hang out together in the future...but it's okay if you-"
"I would be honored, Marinette. Of course you can have my number and e-mail" the fencer replied while internally celebrating she had made considerable progress in a day with Marinette.
After finishing the ice cream, Kagami followed Marinette to the bakery to wait for the chauffeur to pick the fencer up. They spent the time in idle chatting and when the time came for Kagami to go back home, the blunette have her a packet of cookies as thanks for the nice time they just had.
She treasured the gesture and present so much that she kept the little box, taking good care of it  and using it to store pencils, pens, erasers and such.
Perhaps next time they could have lunch together.
--------
And that's it! Hope you liked it or at least entertained you. I made a lot of references to some post about Kagami carrying Marinette to eat ice cream from other blogs like @nobodyfamousposts , @gale-of-the-nomads or @lenoreofraven (I think)
@beebeebombam , I used your fanart to create a scene so to speak; just to let you know

Kagaminette || Halloween on ice
For Marigami week at @marigami-week day 3: protective
The class goes to the Halloween disco at the (very crowded) ice rink but when they all split up, Kagami’s determined to spend it well with Marinette. (~1.5k words)
note: (i know its called marigami week but ive been calling them kagaminette for so long its stuck im sorry) im also late oof and theres like 1% of the actual prompt in here but i hope you enjoy :D
--
It’s not the most formal date out there; far from it, especially considering the fact that they hadn’t gone out with the intention of making it a date and the fact that the only reason the two were alone now was because they’d lost most of Marinette’s classmates in the crowd (Rose and Juleka were swallowed up immediately; Nathaniel and Marc going into a corner in the stands; the chaotic group that consisted of Alya, Kim, Alix, and a helpless Max zooming onto the rink; and the others just plain disappearing).
But it was an impromptu one and now that it was, Marinette knew that Kagami was not going to let it go to waste (it had taken a lot of convincing--and perhaps some half-truths--to get her mother to let her come after all).
And yet…
“I’m not too sure about this Kagami…” Marinette mumbled, huddled right next to her girlfriend as the crowd in the centre surged around them. The strobing disco lights were flashing all sorts of colours, moving around and settling on different people every time. “It’s… really crowded.”
For a brief moment, she swore a spotlight focused on Juleka and Rose before moving on; the former magnificent in her mysteriously stylish costume (the name of which Marinette hadn’t caught), the latter almost downright terrifying as a petite but very realistic zombie.
Kagami scanned the centre, her sharp gaze visible even in the dim lighting (in truth, she wondered if that was a hazard; surely in such a crowded, party environment everyone should be able to see everyone else as easily as possible). They both stood on the outside of the rink wall, their ice skates and costumes on. Ones they had made together; a demon and an angel.
In a lovely twist of events that had surprised everyone, it was Marinette the demon who had arrived at the rink, side-by-side with her beautifully angelic girlfriend. Although, the latter had insisted herself that Marinette be the angel, claiming that the angel wings that they had worked so hard on deserved to be worn by the ‘true angel.’ (”And besides, it was you who did most of the work, Marinette. You deserve it much more.” “But I only did it so that you could wear it Kagami! And well... I may have...”)
And it hadn’t taken much to convince her otherwise; Marinette claiming that she had already started making the costumes based on their respective measurements and swapping them would have rendered all her earlier work useless... not that it would have mattered; they were able to share each others’ clothes anyway.
“We can handle it,” Kagami said decidedly, squaring up her shoulders in the way Marinette knew that nothing was going to stop her now. She sighed but relented as she was led onto the rink, where her feet suddenly decided not to move. At least the skaters glided almost effortlessly out of their way.
She swallowed; she hadn’t been on the ice since… since when?
Oh! Since that double date with Adrien and Luka and Kagami. She smiled in spite of herself; oh how much things had changed.
Kagami glanced at her, her own smile forming at the sight of Marinette’s; demonic red and black makeup and all. “How are you feeling?”
“Uh… A-a bit wobbly, to be honest.” She laughed nervously. “It’s been a while.”
“Indeed. The last time I’ve gone skating was on that double date last year.” Marinette’s eyes widened; so Kagami remembered too. “Do you remember?” She nodded vigorously.
“Definitely. There was so much drama back then, wasn’t there? When you thought you liked Adrien but he liked me and I thought you liked him but you liked me but you both thought I liked Luka--”
Marinette stopped when she heard Kagami’s laughter (a sound she was probably never going to get tired of), joining in after a moment. “It was a mess, wasn’t it?” She agreed, Marinette catching her fond smile.
“It was.” She squeezed her hand. “But I’m glad that’s over.”
“Me too, Marinette.”
“Hey you two!” A familiar voice called out. Alix zoomed up, coming to a sharp curve around them, her bunny ears swinging from the speed. “Hurry up and get skating! You’ve been standing there for so long!” She raced into the crowd, a scarecrow following swiftly and yelling after her. Marinette could barely catch the “You’re slow Kim!” as she disappeared.
“Your friends are right,” Kagami said, gripping her hand tighter. “But we can start slow.”
Marinette nodded, cheeks dusted. Maybe if it weren’t such as unpredictable time she would be fine, but the rink was bustling with more people than she had initially thought, now that she was actually in it (and now that she remembered just how empty it had been on that double date before; she could hardly imagine that same rink which had served only four teenagers now held over two hundred skaters, on the rink alone).
“Don’t be ashamed, Marinette,” Kagami said encouragingly.
“O-oh I know!” She laughed as they began marching, taking slow glides in the clockwise direction of the crowd’s flow.
They skated for half a lap before picking up speed silently, Marinette gaining enough confidence to loosen her hold on Kagami’s hand, blushing when she realised just how tightly she’d been squeezing.
A blur of brown and grey swerved in front of them. “Hey lovebirds! Say cheese!” Alya yelled, skating past with her phone out as she snapped a photo. She grinned, laughing as she looked at it. “You both look terrified! Love it!”
“Wa-wait Alya take another!”
“Maybe if you catch up to me!” Alya winked, turning to face forward again with a swing of her arms, the glittering makeup stitches shining in the colourful lights.
Marinette groaned. “Bet that’s going to make it in our yearbook…” Kagami laughed softly. “Glad you find that a good thing.”
“It is not but it is an amusing thing.”
Marinette rolled her eyes. “Easy for you to--”
Oh no--
Sensing them without seeing, she was ripped away before she could move, Kagami tugging her away.
An arm wrapped around her back, the both of them twirling towards the centre as a familiar scarecrow crashed into the wall.
“Oh my god Kim you moron!” Alix yelled, coming to a stop in front of him. “You nearly killed someone!” She turned to face them, her eyebrows raising as she realised just who he’d nearly killed. “You nearly killed Marinette Kim.”
Kim shook his head, looking around for his straw hat before he found the two; Kagami’s eyes narrowed at him, Marinette’s wide. “But you can’t kill angels?”
“Kim are you serious?”
He blinked. “Oh right. S-sorry Marinette! Sorry Kagami--I got a bit outta control back there.”
“No kidding,” Alix muttered, picking up his hat and chucking it at him.
Marinette smiled. “It’s alright… but maybe be careful next time.”
“Others will not be as fast as we are,” Kagami added, her voice low and firm.
Kim winced at her tone but nodded. “I will!”
Alix huffed, crossing her arms. “Maybe it’s time for a break. Ever since Max got off we’ve been a mess and I’m starved; where’s the free sausage sizzle?”
Marinette wriggled her arm out of Kagami’s hold, pointing towards the direction of the entrance. “It should be to the left of the entrance. Inside where the cafe is.”
Alix nodded. “Thanks Marinette! Let’s go Kim, before you kill another person,” She said before skating away.
“Hey!”
They watched them go for a brief moment as Marinette relaxed, her thumping heart slowing.
Before realising that she was still in Kagami’s embrace (and then her heart sped up again).
“A-ah Kagami it’s fine now… you can--” She blushed as Kagami turned to look at her, her face… much closer than she anticipated. “You can… um… l-let...” Her voice trailed off as Kagami continued to gaze at her, an expectant look on her face.
Then just as suddenly as she’d been pulled into Kagami’s arms, Kagami nodded, “Right,” and pulled away.
And she cursed herself for even mentioning it.
Sure, standing like that in the middle of the ice rink might not have been the most practical thing but it had been the most comfortable thing.
Somewhere, a certain brunette glasses-wearing Frankenstein’s monster facepalmed as the music changed, followed by a hush over the crowd.
The colourful lights dimmed, until the rink was bathed in a pale flush of reds and pinks. As one they slowed, some moving into the centre to find their own space, others getting off as lights spotlighted on couples (Marinette noticed Adrien and Nino under one, Nathaniel and Marc in another).
And then one on them, too.
A look of wonder crossed Kagami’s face as she gazed around the centre, Marinette’s face too red to hide even under the red lights.
“Is this… a couple’s dance?”
She squeaked, stammering. “U-um well it could be! Maybe!”
Kagami nodded slowly, deep in thought before looking up and offering her hand to Marinette. “Then may I have this dance?”
She tensed, a thrill going through her body... before the words spilled out in a breathless rush. “I-I don’t know are you sure? Youmightnotwantitthat’sall--I mean I’mnotthebestdancer--or skater--andcombiningthosetwotogether--well it’s not gonna wend bell--end well. End well. And well let’s be honest and--”
“Marinette.”
“Yes?” She breathed.
“We’ll go slowly.”
“Okay.”
And they did, thankfully for Marinette’s sake, because her heart was beating way too fast for her to really be in control of her body and she was gripping onto Kagami too tightly and oh, her hands were so sweaty oh no Kagami must think she’s gross. And such a coward too, her legs were wobbling for goodness sake why was she like this--
“I like this,” Kagami said suddenly (and never mind it was a good thing she was like this). She smiled, the same, soft, mushy smile Marinette always received (and would never get tired of receiving).
And that was all it took. Marinette relaxed, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders. That’s right; she didn’t have to panic around Kagami, didn’t have to worry. “Yeah,” she whispered. “I do to--”
“Come on lovebirds, get moving,” another all too familiar voice piped up in frustration, as all too familiar hands took Marinette’s and wrapped them around Kagami’s neck, a gentle push sending her gliding forward, in an all too familiar scenario.
But before either of them could really register anything, Alya was already speeding away, her laugh sounding much too cunning for Marinette’s liking (maybe Trixx was getting to her).
“Alya I’m going to kill you!” She yelped after the girl, who flashed her a peace sign without turning around.
“More like you’re going to thank me girls!”
Marinette groaned, head lolling forward just short of Kagami’s forehead. “I’m… so sorry about her.”
Kagami breathed out a laugh. “It’s fine. She’s very enthusiastic about… other people’s love lives.”
“Ever since she got me and you together she’s been calling herself the most successful matchmaker and now that Adrien and Nino are together she’s basically proclaimed herself Cupid.” Marinette huffed, rolling her eyes again. “I wouldn’t be surprised if she challenges Andre tomorrow.”
“Alya would be a better matchmaker than that ice cream man,” She stated, so matter-of-factly that Marinette had to stifle a laugh. But then Kagami frowned, thoughtful. “Though I don’t think Alya got us together. I’m certain we would have started dating with or without her interference.”
“That’s true. We would have found each other regardless.” Marinette beamed, thinking of the day Alya had rushed in announcing that it wasn’t Adrien Kagami liked, but Marinette--a week after Marinette had finally figured out her true feelings. “But who knows how much longer we might have had to wait to be with together.”
Kagami’s own smile was enough of an answer, and in the flushed lighting, Marinette thought that even if she was without the halo and the wings and the hastily applied glittering makeup (because her mother would have possibly grounded her for life otherwise so they’d had to do it on the way to the ice rink), Kagami would always look as good as an angel.
Kagami would always be an angel to her.

You've got me shipping Marigami/Kagaminette and now all I can think of is the first time Marinette shows Kagami affection and it is An Experience for Kagami and now she can't properly start her day with at least a hug or a kiss from Marinette because Marinette Dupain-Cheng Affection wakes Kagami up faster than coffee
Caffection
Marinette and Kagami strolled up to the front door of the former’s home, hands held tenderly.
Marinette floated down the street, her eyes hazy and mind hazier. Tonight had felt like a dream and it was still going on. Everything had gone perfectly, much to her paranoid mind’s shock and awe. Though she’d stumbled and stammered, Kagami had been there to catch her and interpret her babbling. The Japanese prodigy put her on cloud nine.
Kagami took measured steps and glanced around, then at their interlaced fingers. Her mind was racing and her heart pumped with every step she took.
Was her hand too sweaty? What if she tripped now? What if Marinette tripped because she lead her onto uneven ground?
“Kagami?“
She blinked and looked down at her girlfriend. They were standing before the front door to her home. Apparently, they’d arrived while she’d calculated every possible worst outcome.
“Oh, sorry,“ she apologized and flushed red. “I was distracted.“
Marinette covered her mouth and giggled. “But you’re never distracted.” She squeezed her hand and her heart skipped a beat.
They stood quietly for a second, the both of them searching for their words.
“I had a good time tonight.“ She bit her tongue. That’d come out more robotic than human. “I mean… it was nice… I liked spending time with you- a-and I still do- er, want to….“ She pursed her lips and turned as red as her fencing suit.
Instead of letting go of her hand and laughing at her, Marinette blushed harder and looked down. A part of her thought the sight was adorable. The other part, which she’d conditioned to scold the young designer for her self-deprecating thoughts, was struck with offense. She concealed both parts of her psyche, however, and squeezed their hands.
Marinette looked up, mouth open to speak some words. None ever came.
Instead, they stared at each other. Brown eyes into blue. The earth into the heavens. One goddess to another.
Slowly, terrifyingly so, they leaned in until their lips brushed like the petals of roses.
They parted, both of them as brightly lit as Ladybug’s suit. Fidgeting on their feet, they looked away then back at their other.
Kagami swallowed. “That… That was-”
“Magnificent….”
Kagami blinked. Marinette stared at her. Then, her eyes snapped open wide and she stood straight.
“I-I- I mean- I-It was great! Wonderful! Hot!“ She turned redder. “Er- not hot! No! I-I mean, it was, but, not sexy, more like romantic-”
She put a finger to her lips and squeezed their hands. Marinette went quiet immediately and looked down past her nose at her finger. She lifted it up and brushed aside a stray hair obstructing her view.
“It was magnificent.”
Marinette squeaked. She laughed softly. A few seconds later, Marinette laughed too. They stood there, reveling in the jubilant glow of their humor born of panic until they quieted into fond smiles.
A minute passed by before Marinette felt Kagami loosening her interlaced fingers.
“I should be going,“ she spoke, tucking some hair behind her ear. “Did you want to do this again?“
“Y-Yes!“ Marinette bit her tongue. “I mean, yes. I-I’d like that… Does the ice rink on Friday sound okay?“
Kagami swallowed. The ice rink held bad memories. “How about André’s ice cream?“
Strangely, Marinette looked down at her feet, but a few seconds later, she looked up and nodded. “Sure.”
They balanced on their heels for a moment before Marinette took a step towards the door.
She gave a wave. “I’ll, uh, see you tomorrow.”
Kagami smiled and nodded. “Of course.”
Marinette skipped up the front steps of Collège Françoise Dupont, exuberance in her every bounce. She was still on cloud nine with how the night had ended. She’d barely been able to sleep last night. Had she even slept? She might not have.
“Whoa, girl!“ Alya caught her by the shoulders, stopping her before she ran into her. “Slow it down. What’s got you bouncing around?“
She flushed red and rubbed the back of her neck. “N-Nothing. It’s nothing.”
Her best-friend put her hands on her hips and cocked her head. “Mmhm. Sure.”
She opened her mouth to speak, but suddenly found her hand interlaced with Kagami’s.
“Good morning,“ her girlfriend yawned and leaned against her.
Alya blinked. Marinette flushed red. Kagami nuzzled her head into the crook of her neck.
“Um, good morning.” She squeezed her hand. “Are you okay?“
The Japanese prodigy sighed. “I’m fine now.” She pecked her on the cheek and let go of her hand.
Alya stared, mouth agape. Kagami smirked and adjusted the strap of her satchel. She turned as red as her super suit and fell back on another cloud.

Going off of that early anon ask about TVTropes and ML salt... Sure is frustrating that all the saltfics end up popular enough to be featured there and have their own TROPE PAGES, yet legitimately good stuff like the Seeing One Another fic series don't get even as much as a GODDAMN REC
Haven’t read the series I’m afraid. I think Kagaminette could function as a good couple and I can see the appeal, but personally I don’t ship it, so I don’t read it.
If you want to see it recced, you can just make an account and rec it. Tvtropes doesn’t require anything particularly onerous to do that. I’m afraid I don’t end up editing and adding things on TvTropes much - I just have more trouble formulating my thoughts in a way that fits that platform than I do on tumblr or for fanfiction - but I have done it occasionally, especially with reccing fics. Though you have to catch up on formatting changes on that front, because apparently it’s changed over the past decade.

28 kagaminette? If that's OK with u
28. One person tracing the other’s lips with a fingertip until they can’t resist any longer, tilting their chin towards them for a kiss.
leave me a pairing and a number and i’ll write you a kiss! [CLOSED FOR NOW]
i call this The Experience. also a little #relatable.
Marinette shouldn’t be surprised to feel Kagami at her elbow the instant that class is dismissed for the day, and somehow it still startles her. She doesn’t even get a word in edgewise, doesn’t even get to go get her belongings. Kagami’s already pulling her in the opposite direction. Toward the locker room near the gymnasium.
It’s not unusual; Kagami has fencing practice most afternoons, and those same afternoons Marinette at least pokes her head in to say goodbye if she’s heading out first. What is unusual is Kagami tugging her along this intently, even for her. She’s pushing past people and doors as if there’s something that needs to be said or done this instant. Honestly, judging by the absence of Kagami’s gym bag, Marinette has to wonder if she even has practice at all.
Even when the locker room door closes behind them, Kagami doesn’t let up until they’re in one of the far corners in the back, closer to the showers—which Marinette is pretty sure have never been used in their entire high school career here. She’s been stumbling after her the whole time, even as they come to a stop and their schoolbags fall at their feet. And now that they have, it’s a little easier to read the air around them. Especially considering that Kagami hasn’t let go of her.
Especially considering that Kagami is holding both her hands. Thumbs stroking the backs of them and all.
“Hey,” she finally manages to say, though she winces at how her voice echoes off the tiles. “Is everything… okay? Did something happen in class?”
“I don’t know,” Kagami replies after a long, deep breath. “I felt… overwhelmed, being in there.” She gives her hands a squeeze. “I don’t usually spend my lectures counting the minutes.”
“Were you…” Marinette purses her lips. “Was it making you uncomfortable? Being in there?”
“Something like that.” Kagami takes a step closer without any of the feeling of daring—moves, this time, to lace their fingers together. Somehow, this close and with her heart pounding in her ears, it’s not lost on Marinette how Kagami… looks around, with something unfamiliar in her eyes, before returning her attention. She’d call it fear, but she’s never… ever known Kagami to be scared.
At least, not on the outside.
“I just,” she breathes; the sensation makes Marinette’s lips tingle, almost as much as they do when Kagami’s fingers delicate find her lips. “I needed a moment to be with you, and at the same time, I was… seized up with panic. Maybe even paranoia.” It feels like she’s holding her breath now. “Part of me wishes you knew what I meant. Part of me is relieved you don’t.”
Oh… of course.
Her mother.
“I know,” Marinette whispers. Squeezes her hand. Softly kisses the tips of her fingers as they pass over once more, just to reassure her. “I haven’t told. Never will. Not till you’re ready to say something.”
She can’t tell, when they’re this close together, whether Kagami’s eyes are still open, but hers are falling shut within seconds. It doesn’t take long for her to miss the absence of Kagami’s touch when she pulls her fingertips away. It takes even less time for her to react when that hand tips her chin up and finds the small of her back, and when Kagami’s lips meet her own in its stead. Every hair stands on end, saluting her, she can feel it. Almost as much as she can feel the gentle pressure of Kagami nudging her backwards into the nearest shower stall, tugging the curtain shut behind them as if to say, no one else should have this moment but us. No one else deserves it.
“Not until I’m ready,” Kagami whispers between kisses, and it kills something in Marinette’s heart to hear it come out with those tinges of uncertainty. But when she’s being pressed against a wall like this and her very strong girlfriend is attempting to lift her up against it, her mind swims and protests the very notion of thinking of anything else.
“Hey,” she whispers back, pausing to cradle Kagami’s face. Her heart swells at the warmth in them, the sparkle. “Do you… have practice today?”
Kagami shakes her head.
“Do you…” Marinette feels her face grow hot. “Want to come over and study?”
Kagami blinks a couple of times, her eyes going slightly wider. She shifts, but only to readjust her grip. “Are there,” she murmurs, “false quotes? Around that last word?”
Marinette’s stomach jumps. “Th-there… could be. If. If you wanted there to be.”
A smile breaks across Kagami’s face, and the kiss she graces her with is softer now. Calmer. Lingering, even as she just barely pulls back, even as her fingers twitch almost nervously in the hem of Marinette’s shirt. “I would have said yes either way.”
