A/N: Day two of Rainbow Week! I had to write for our favorite Slytherin grump♡ Severus deserves so much love though, the poor man, and I am here to give it to him.👏 I wanted to include a bit of his thoughts as well as 'yours', so hopefully I did alright!

A small note, that had been scribbled by little you the night before, floated onto the wooden table before him. You watched as the puzzled, but more accurately annoyed, professor froze in hesitation. Your heartbeat stopped as you analyzed his demeanor from afaf.

You watched from across the dining hall as Severus squinted at the book he had started reading as a pastime in between classes. Quidditch season was in full swing – and with it began a whole slew of chaos from students and professors alike – and a good read had always been an enjoyable distraction for him. But something new awaited him on the page bookmarked the last time he'd picked it up. 

Severus certainly wasn't a man who received hand-written notes often, nor was he used to such a gesture. With his luck, this was just another unamusing prank from a Gryffindor unpleased with the weeks of detention they had earned themselves. Perhaps it was from a Ravenclaw, who often found cheeky ways to spite him for the corrections he made on their parchment assignments. Either way, these distractions had no place in his leisurely books, so he had no choice but to examine it closer. 

His bony fingers reached down to practically strangle the note with his grip. You watched from across the room as his usually stone-cold frown softened and both his eyebrows lifted in surprise. His eyes glanced across the piece of parchment, analyzing it closely. Well, that seems like a win to me, you thought as you strode over to greet him. 

"That book can't possibly be so good that you can't keep your nose out of it for even a lunch break, can it?" You teased as you swung your legs over the bench and plopped yourself next to him. "I mean, if it is, let me know - I'll have to steal it from you sometime and give it a read." 

A few minutes passed; it only seemed fair to allow the usually stoic man to gather his thoughts. When he finally spoke, Severus's voice came hushed and solemn. 

"Thank you." 

You knew you'd have to wait in order to hear his full gratitude, but the way he'd softened towards you spoke volumes more than what he would be able to express alone with you. His tired hand found yours, and in no time your fingers interlocked with his. If only every moment could be this way, you thought, so precious and yet fleeting all at once. 

How lucky were you, that just a hasty sketch from your time regressed could remind you both just how important you were to each other? It was a blessing to be able to touch this man so deeply with something so simple - one that you would cherish for as long as you possibly could.

Week 2 of my SKYTOBER 2022 Illustration Series!  Something about the prompts of that week *really* ignited my art muse, thus I began deviating from the original “only sketches” plan and let myself add color using different medium approaches!  This week’s cover art is inspired by the works of 96YUZU, one of my all-time favorite Sky artists.

09 PERFORMANCE: “YO YO YO!!  This is DJ KRILLIN’ AND PARTY KRILL, READY TO LIGHT UP THE STARS-!!  LEMME HEAR THOSE SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAMS~!!!”  Upon learning how to use a DJ set in realms beyond the Sky Kingdom, Azzarah and PARTY begin getting some special gigs to some parties!

10 MEDITATION: Kidde and Moro found a meditation candle from Roneku, and Kidde’s guts are busted!!  Moro, however seems to not find his brother’s message as hilarious...

11 RAINBOW: “You’re the reason why I try my best to spread rainbows n’ good vibes everywhere I go .... ‘cuz you’re my rainbow in a dead kingdom.  I’ll always adora ya, my beautiful little goddess. ♥”

12 NEW FRIEND: Upon the newly born Sissyin feeling overwhelmed from boisterous bullies, a smaller figure approaches. “Here.  This is for you.  I’ll take you to a less overwhelming place.”

13 FREE DAY: “I’ll triumph.  Against all the odds that stand in my way.”

14 LAZY TIMES: If you find Kidde asleep, you may as well leave for a while; once she falls asleep, there’s no chance of waking her up! Thus she missed a candle run with her friends that day.

15 UNDERWATER: “Nothing will matter here. Not now. Or ever.” After having failed to safe The Primordial Moth from his corrupted brother and THE SEEKER, the other Elder of the Valley accepted their fate as they sank further and further into the infinite underwater abyss.

I came back from work earlier (well, technically, I sneaked out, but that's another story) to find my favorite album playing softly in the background and my favorite people giggling on the carpet in front of our tree surrounded by a mess of toys. Simon is doing a funny voice for the wood horse and our kid finds his father’s quip very amusing.

Henry is in that lovely age - that I wish we could freeze for a while longer - where he thinks Simon and I are the coolest people alive. Especially Simon, he's always so awestruck with his father, and Simon... Simon is all heart-eyes for him.

"Looks like you two are having fun, can I join you?" I say and they immediately jump on me. Henry hugs my leg and Simon wraps his arm around us both.

I'm home.

I wanted to write something longer, but then I didn't have the motivation, so I have a 250 word Sophiana (at least implied Sophiana) fic for Sophiana Week Day 5: Pride. Content warning for a little bit of internalized homphobia

"So, long story short, I'm unmatchable," Sophie finishes, sighing as she collapses onto her bed.

"Hmm," Biana says. She twists her fingers together. "I kind of think I am too."

"You are? But you're- you know- a Vacker. I'm sure the matchmakers will love you!"

"Yeah, but, um... I don't think I can love whoever they match me with. I don't think I can... um... love... a boy. Not like that." Her voice dips low. "I'm actually thinking I might be, um, a lesbian?"

"Oh." That makes sense, actually. Why Biana never wanted to do anything about her supposed crush on Keefe, even though she said she liked him a lot. If Sophie wanted to be optimistic, that might explain the night spent in the same bed at Alluveterre, the comments about how red was definitely her color. "Okay. That's great."

"You- you aren't mad?"

Sophie reached out to take Biana's hand. "No, of course not, I'm actually bi, and- hey!" Her face lights up. "I might have a pin around here somewhere!" She rummages through her backpack while Biana watches, stunned. "Come on, I'm sure it's here- found it!"

She pumps her fist in the air triumphantly, and then walks over to Biana and holds out the rainbow pin. "Would you like this?"

Biana nods and accepts it with her fingers shaking slightly.

At Foxfire the next day, it's pinned to her uniform.

A/N: Day 3 of Rainbow Week! This is my first time writing for Rick, so I may have went a little off theme, but I wanted to have extra fun with it💗 p.s. I struggled so hard with this title😭

Rick was exhausted, you could easily see by the bags under his eyes darkening more than usual. A full night of bar shows would do that to you, for sure. He fumbled with his guitar, examining it for marks and scratches. His focus seemed to be on nothing in particular, though, just flipping between channels of distractions.

Moonlight partially illuminated the inside of the tour bus, which was less of a tour bus and more of a dingy, poorly customized, and probably stolen RV. The lumpy seats and rust on the door handles didn't help, either. Though despite how unmanaged the vehicle felt, the scrawny man beside you made it feel like home. 

You, on the other hand, were restless beyond control. Sitting in the green room and waiting for the night to end seemed easy enough, but god if it wasn't the single most uneventful 'job' you could have. Rick always reminded you that you were his good luck charm, and that he enjoyed having you around, but you only got to see him briefly in between breaks. 

You'd stashed some coloring books in your backpack to ease the pang of boredom, knowing that you'd probably slip into headspace if left alone. With all the noise backstage, it was hard to calm down, even with your noise-cancelling headphones. And as always, with your luck, you found yourself pulling out your gear right as the gang barrelled through the door. 

Now, Rick knew of your little side and seemed to approve in some sense of the word, but after a night of performances, it wasn't something you felt comfortable bothering him with. It was easy to unintentionally get on Rick's bad side when he was exhausted; you just didn't want your little self to be too much on him, especially not right now. 

"B-uugh-babe, what are you- why the hell are you staring at me like that?" 

With a few harsh blinks, you realized you'd indeed been looking at Rick this whole time. 

Crap.

"Uh, I don't know, I'm just.. tired. Really tired. Yeah."Very smooth, you scolded yourself, before he had a chance to respond. 

As expected, he cocked half of his unibrow in disbelief, but seemingly shrugged off the urge to press further. 

"Yeah sure, whatever. You're lucky I'm tired. Just- just come here, yeah?" 

Rick lifted his thin arm for you, and without hesitation you slid beside him. It felt nice to let gravity go and feel his warmth next to you. You felt his hand rub your shoulder, the spiked bracelet he donned for shows poking against the fabric of your band tee. 

Rick made you think a lot whenever he was around. Not necessarily in a bad way, just a curiosity that made you wonder about the world in a way you usually didn't. Maybe that's why you found yourself leaning towards your regression more when he was around; he was a smart guy, and in any case, who wouldn't become tiny at the thought of aliens and spaceships and adventures? 

"Uh.. Rick?" You peeped, trying to disguise your big voice's faltering. 

He made a short noise in response. 

"Can's you..," you sighed, trying again, "can you talk about the planets you've been to?" You pouted at your growing inability to stay big. 

Rick chuckled to himself. 

"Well, uh, I remember that one time we played at Buttworld  – they go-ughh-gotta whole lotta butts there." 

True to your little nature, the word "butt" sent you into a fit of giggles. 

"I knew that'd get you," Rick smirked. "Y'know, you really don't have to hide that sh..shtuff around me. I mean, really, do you know how much I've seen in space?" 

Maybe you didn't have to worry about being a bother around Rick, after all.

With everything that's been going on lately, here's a short non-comprehensive accumulation of things that could be called progress regarding relations between men's hockey and being queer:

The 🇦🇺 AIHL's Melbourne Mustangs, advocating for trans rights in sports since 2017, and the same team in 2023, donning pride jerseys designed by former goalie (and twin sister of Ty) Tia Wishart who is part of the LGBTQ community.

Jase Polglase of the AIHL's Central Coast Rhinos who puts pride tape on his stick every single game.

Starting off with individual efforts, the 🇬🇧 EIHL has since extended their pride event to the duration of a full weekend following a conjoint initiative by the teams' fanbases in 2019.

Zach Sullivan, one of the few out queer athletes in the sport, felt supported enough by his team to come out as bisexual ahead of the Manchester Storm's pride game in 2020.

Danish goalie Jon Lee-Olsen came out as gay a year prior and was reportedly supported by his teammates.

The 🇸🇪 SHL lead the way, awarding the cause a full week since 2019 with elaborate campaigns and getting refs as well as coaches involved. It's a colorful sight.

While Pride Games are at present not an official part of the schedule, several 🇩🇪 DEL teams are joining in. Augsburg and Köln do their part, Berlin has one of the dedicated queer fanclubs and visibly stands against homophobia since at least 2016.

As of 2022 the entire league, as well as a growing number of clubs in the tiers below, cooperate with Hockey is Diversity e.V.. So does the Para Ice Hockey National Team, including Jörg Wedde, who also keeps pride tape on his equipment.

🇫🇮 Liiga's TPS added these stunning jerseys to the mix.

While all the aforementioned teams already wear the jerseys for at least one full game, IF Kiruna of the Swedish 3rd league stepped it up several notches. In 2014 they've decided to wear rainbow jerseys for a full season in support of the LGBTQ community. Since then they've made the rainbow a permanent fixture in their logo and club identity.

Plenty of clubs out there hosting events where queer people are given a platform and shown support in a multitude of ways that aren't merely empty words.

And even if it's not part of general discussions within a league, you've got voices who are willing to speak up.
