A Spoiler-Free Guide to Dodging Marazhai's Romance Bugs
This info is based on the state of the game as of Hotfix 1.0.89. A lot of this will hopefully become irrelevant as Owlcat puts out more patches.
EDIT 10/01/2024 // 8PM ET - clarify companion quest info, correct info about post-recruitment scene, and add missing known bug info about doin the dirty for the first time
EDIT 11/01/2024 // 2PM ET - further changes to info about post-recruitment scene
I've seen a lot of people struggling to successfully romance Marazhai in Owlcat's Rogue Trader CRPG, due to Owlcat continuing their time-honored tradition of launching their games with an obscene amount of bugs.
After a lot of troubleshooting, I was able to successfully finish a sub!Marazhai romance with the "good" romance ending, and I ended up having a pretty good grasp on how the whole thing works. So I thought I'd share what I've learned to save others the trouble. This info should be good for both sub!Marazhai and dom!Marazhai.
Toybox
If you don't have it already, Toybox is highly recommended. You can get it on Nexus Mods. It will help you make sure things are progressing as expected, and fix some things if they get messed up. However, it's not necessary at this point if you're careful, the only thing you need it for is to fix some flags to get some really minor extra dialog.
If you choose to use toybox, you can see the tree + flags for the dialog you're currently in by clicking the "Dialog & NPCs" tab. You can also make flags show up directly in the dialog boxes in game with the "Preview" settings in the main tab. "Dialog Results" will show changes to flags + etudes that will happen if you choose a given dialog option. "Dialog Conditions" will show the conditions required for a dialog options to show. I kept both checked for my whole playthrough for peace of mind.
Tumblr media
Flags/Etudes
There are some toybox flags + etudes that are important to Marazhai's romance. (flags are just values like true/false/a number, etudes are... properties set based on flags I guess? idk exactly). You can browse etudes in a tree structure in the "etudes" tab. If you need to change the value of a flag, do that in the "Search 'n Pick" tab.
Etude - Romances >> Marazhai should be flagged as "Active". If it says "Completed", something has gone wrong.
Etude - Romances >> Marazhai >> Counters >> Domination and Romances >> Marazhai >> Counters >> Submission. These determine Marazhai's attitude. If "Domination" is "Active", you get dom!Marazhai, if "Submission" is "Active", you get sub!Marazhai. You have to stick to one or the other, or Marz will be unhappy with you.
Flag - Ascention. This flag needs to be, I believe, minimum 4 by the time you get his final romance scene in Act 5 to get the "good" romance ending. It's pretty easy to get Ascention points as long as you play along with Marazhai, respect his uh... culture, and stick to your dom/sub role.
Etudes - Companions >> Marazhai >> Marazhai_States >> Domination and Companions >> Marazhai >> Marazhai_States >> Submission. You can safely ignore these, they don't actually affect the romance as far as I can tell :)
Regarding Marazhai's Companion Quest
Doing the sub!Marazhai route will lock you out of a certain outcome for Marazhai's companion quest. I don't think this is a bug, because narratively, it makes a lot of sense that this happens. However, the outcome you get locked out of could be considered the "ideal" outcome (though I also think this is debatable, and I was happy with my outcome/ending for my sub! Marazhai). You can get a good romance ending regardless of the outcome of this quest.
The flag related to Marazhai's personal quest is called TempestCounter, and you need it at 5+ for the "ideal" outcome. All TempestCounter points are based on whether Marazhai's dom or sub etude is active, outside of the points you get from the errand mentioned below. dom!Marazhai adds points, sub!Marazhai removes points. Which is why sub!Marazhai locks you out of an outcome.
Act 3 - Post Recruitment Scene
There are two versions of Marzipan's post-recruitment scene. The "Normal" version currently has a bug with dom/sub points, but you can work around it.
Normal - this is what most people see. There is an opportunity to get a dom or sub point in this dialog, but it's bugged so they're flipped. If you want your RT to be dom, pick the sub-y dialog option, and if you want your RT to be sub, pick the dom-y option.
Dogmatic party members starting drama - There's some confusion about what exactly triggers this. My recommendation to get this version of the scene: make sure you recruit Ulfar before you recruit Marazhai, and if you have Argenta and/or Heinrix with you for the Act 3 location, make sure you put them back in your party ASAP (they will get temporarily removed from it), so that they're with you for the event where you recruit Marazhai. To be safe, bring one of Argenta and/or Heinrix with you for Act 3. This dialog also has an opportunity for a dom or sub point, and is not currently bugged. ALSO it unlocks an errand that will lead to a little bit of extra dialog, and potential TempestCounter points.
Act 3 - Marazhai's Possessions
You'll get an act 3 companion quest for Marazhai where he asks you to help find some stuff he has stashed away. Eventually, you find a specific item he's very excited about. Make sure you let him keep this item. There's also an opportunity to get a dom or sub point here, but the flags are flipped again. So like last time, if you want your RT to be dom, pick the sub-y dialog, and if you want to be sub, pick the dom-y dialog.
Congratulations, this is the last flipped dom/sub flag situation you need to worry about! (at least, I'm not aware of any others)
***Also MILD SPOILER WARNING due to flag name***
I guess this is really only a spoiler if you're familiar with 40k lore but... anyways... This scene should probably start etude MarTookAgonizer, and should also probably start either PlayerTriedAgonizer or PlayerTriedAgonizerOnMar (depending on what you did). Start the appriate etudes manually for some fun little bits of bonus dialog later :)
***END SPOILER***
Act 4 - First Void Jump With Marz
In act 4, during you first void jump with Marazhai, he'll cause... problems. You'll ultimately have 3 ways to deal with this:
Let him do whatever tf he wants. Sets Companions >> Marazhai >> Marazhai_States >> Domination to active. Currently bugged, prevents completing the quest associated with this event and prevents romance progression.
Compromise? Sets Companions >> Marazhai >> Marazhai_States >> Sybarite to active. Confirmed to work for both dom!Marazhai and sub!Marazhai romance paths
Lock him up. Sets Companions >> Marazhai >> Marazhai_States >> submission to active. Immediately breaks the romance. Used to work with romance, but according to patch notes was causing Big Bugs so it just ends the romance now. It should get restored in a future patch, but for now, DO NOT PICK THIS.
Act 4 - Sleeping with Marz the First Time
There is a known bug where after you sleep with Marazhai for the first time after going for a "walk", you get dom!Marazhai flavoured dialog no matter what. The sub!Marazhai flavoured dialog for this doesn't even seem to be in the game. So... nothing you can do about it, but it won't break your romance. It will just seem a bit off if you've been doing the sub!Marazhai route.
Side Content - Equipping Super Cursed Item
This doesn't affect the actual romance in any way, but it's a bug you can experience if you have an active romance with Marazhai. There's a side planet where you can loot a SUPER cursed item, that warns you that you won't be able to take if off if you equip it. If you try to equip it anyway with romanced Marazhai in the party, you'll get a special interaction with him over it. Unfortunately, it's bugged, and as a result the item will be stuck on your character but with providing any benefits, so it effectively just removes one of your equipment slots, which is super annoying. Do recommend saving and then trying to equip the item just to see the scene though :)
Companion Quest Journal Bugs
You may notice Marazhai's optional Act 3 errand and his Act 4 companion quest not getting removed from the quest log. Don't stress it - if you've done what's required by them, you're good. The quest/errand is done, the journal entry is just stuck because it's bugged.
End
Aaaand that's pretty much it! There used to be a few other bugs affecting Marazhai's romance but they've since been patched. Now it's mostly a few issues early on, and then smooth sailing once you get past those.
General, non-bug-related tips for succesfful romance:
Don't be a coward, Marazhai respects wholeheartedly embracing Drukhari culture and will break things off if you don't
Stick to your established dom or sub role
Play along with Marazhai's shenanigans
Keep in mind that you really can't be a good person while completing this romance path
If you have any questions or need clarification on anything don't be afraid to ask! I'll do my best to help.

☉ ✄ ✦
☉ what do you do when you get stuck writing?
I don't write 😬 You've probably noticed my fic doesn't have an upload schedule. If I get stuck, I just don't write. After a long while, though, I start getting this feeling that I really need to. I'll stop listening to music for a few days and think about the fic a lot. That, plus time off of work, seems to be the only thing that makes me write again.
✄ what’s your editing process?
Oh man it is. I don't even know xD I edit heavily as I'm writing. Sometimes I'll write a sort of 'skeleton' chapter and then go back and flesh it out. During both those phases, I edit. Sometimes I'll write the chapter completely as I go through it. Either way, when I'm done, I reread it and correct it for like another 2 hours afterwards. I consider putting the chapter into AO3's preview part of editing and try really hard to catch and correct things there (especially rogue html).
Note: I do not recommend this type of editing xD But I will be honest and say that's what I do. I would instead recommend you (general 'you') write your draft, just go go go! Put it aside for a bit. Then edit with fresh eyes.
✦ what was your easiest fic to write & your hardest?
Easiest fic is probably something like "Touch" or "Oil Reservoir." I was writing those entirely for myself and indulging in some rareass pairs xD Plus they were short and I didn't feel pressured to justify them with massive amounts of characterization and world building. I just. Wrote :)
Hardest fic... hmm... "The Angel Breaker" (Big Bang fic of 2022) was a real challenge because I hella procrastinated and ended up writing literally on the day(s) it was due. I wrote 30,000 words in 3 days. That was hard from a logistical and a "my mortal coil is TIRED but I can't stop" point of view.
But the hardest fic in terms of things like characterization and trying to stay one step ahead and combining new thoughts with scenes written 3+ years ago... would be Echo Garden. I really struggled with characterization for a few years on it. That's going better now. But yeah. I really sink into the scenes when I write. I try really hard to make sure everything makes sense, is interesting and beautiful and enjoyable to imagine, and furthers the story in some way. I keep a zillion thoughts and details together in my head at once when writing for Echo Garden. When I finish a chapter, my brain literally feels tired xD
Thanks so much for the ask :)

Tales of the Valiant RPG: Launching Black Flag Roleplaying
The heart of 5th Edition: core rules for high fantasy games, including a Monster Vault and a Player's Guide to power your campaign!
Be Bold.
Be Brave.
Tumblr media
The new Tales of the Valiant RPG keeps the 5th Edition community independent and tabletop moving forward—use it to tell your own tales of 5E high adventure!
Tumblr media
Tales of the Valiant (ToV) keeps all the best of 5E D&D and adds a Kobold Press spin to the well-loved game. It combines the Creative Commons foundation of 5th Edition with new elements to create a powerful Kobold-style 5E with teeth.
New 5E Options. Of course, ToV includes the fighter, wizard, and rogue, and dwarves and elves. Much more than that, it provides a wealth of new options and expanded gameplay. Explore the new Mechanist class and try out the kobold, outsider, and beastkin character lineages. Tales of the Valiant provides hundreds of new options for talents, spells, and monsters.
Early Access to Private Playtests. Backers get two exclusive playtest packets containing new classes and new creatures not available to the public until later.
Create Your Own World and Share Your Adventures. Tales of the Valiant is built on the Creative Commons and Open Roleplaying Content licenses, so the core rules are available for everyone to expand on as part of the 5E global community. Keep your investment in 5th Edition going strong!
Retain Compatibility with 5E Tradition. While ToV brings new options, its roots are familiar. Play any 5E adventure with creatures and spells from Tales of the Valiant—and keep the best of both worlds at your table!
For even more insight into Kobold Press's plans, visit the Tales of the Valiant website and check out the the 64-page Tales of the Valiant Preview PDF to see lineages and heritages, 4 classes, 8 subclasses, the spellcasting rules, and 8 monster previews.
Tumblr media
The Tales of the Valiant Player's Guide includes everything needed to create legendary heroes and run the game, and the Monster Vault includes every dungeon-crawling and fire-belching creature of high fantasy. Tales of the Valiant strengthens those mechanics and enriches their story potential, to make your next campaign your best campaign!
The Tales of the Valiant Player's Guide features 13 base classes and all the lineages and heritages of classic fantasy. These include the bard, cleric, druid, fighter, mechanist, monk, ranger, rogue, sorcerer, wizard, and warlock, as well as humans, dwarves, elves, kobolds, halflings, beastkin, and more.
Tumblr media
And that's not NEARLY all! The Monster Vault includes hundreds of monsters of core fantasy, from familiar orcs and red dragons to all-new foes like star crows, husk demons, and mechadrons original to Tales of the Valiant.
Tumblr media
Many more details to come on both Monster Vault and Player's Guide in updates and on the Kobold Press blog, Discord, and YouTube.
Tumblr media
While the heart of Tales of the Valiant comes from the 5E Creative Commons, we're also adding much-needed new tweaks for both characters and monsters. These new monsters and new character options entered public playtest in February, and Kickstarter backers will get access to 2 additional sets of playtest material (3 if we unlock a stretch goal).
Game design and especially character design is a time-consuming process of putting forward rough material and refining it in the crucible of playtest. Kickstarter backers will have the inside track and inside view of this process as we push toward a 2024 release—and the game is playable starting right now. Download a ToV Preview (PDF) to get a taste, and back the Kickstarter to gain access to the full Alpha Release plus the private playtest packets coming in late June and July.
More information on the public playtest and KS-exclusive playtests available on TalesoftheValiant.co

PREVIEW - Trouble Will Find Me
Tumblr media
Work on all of my fics has been happening simultaneously recently. Edits on the Exile//Vilify physical release, a return to my Pokemon series, and others. I've been sitting on this one for a while, and so I finally wanted to share with you some bits that have been in my works folders.
This is a preview to Trouble Will Find Me, the prequel to Exile//Vilify that details the life of Thelem and his journey that eventually led him to become the head of the Order of the Seers, up to his eventual meeting with Astor, the boy from Hateno Village. It also features more lore/details about the inner workings and lifestyle of the Order of the Seers, and bits of Azelphir's story as well, and the relationship he forges with Thelem.
Trouble Will Find Me - Preview (link to AO3): https://archiveofourown.org/works/49385443/chapters/124626607
They called themselves the Broken Arrows, and they considered themselves both the town’s plague and protectors.  Their sign was an arrow with two diagonal slashes through it, easily carved into trees or buildings to brand the places they’d been.  They’d stalk and keep watch over the town from their secret hideout somewhere to the east, fending off “intruders,” (criminal competition), and the occasional monster.  The stuff they took was just tax for their services, you see. The adults and storekeepers of the town hated them, of course, but to the children and especially the young women of Deya Village, they were something of local legends.  Especially because their leader was really quite dreamy.  A few of the girls even spread rumors of steamy encounters they’d had with the mysterious rogue--with him sneaking in through their bedroom windows for a midnight romp or catching them unawares for a sweet kiss under the lantern light.
They’d even have arguments about the specifics of such encounters.  His hands are rough.  His hands are smooth.  He’s clean shaven and soft, he has prickly stubble and tasteful chest hair.  He kisses you slowly and sings you sweet nothings all night long.  He likes it quick and rough and then he uses you up and never speaks to you again.  ‘He’s actually been seeing me for months,” a particularly bold one would say.  ‘He smells of caramel and cigarettes.’  ‘NO,’ a particularly defensive one would reply.  ‘He smells like vanilla and cinnamon sugar.’
But what he probably actually smelled like was sweat, because they didn’t go out to bathe that frequently.
Nobody believed any of them, of course, even those who swore on their lives it had actually occurred.  But even those who didn’t believe them were jealous of the prospect and wished they had the guts to spread identical lies. Thomasin just wanted to see them.

Tumblr media
What's up, gamers. Every so often, I get asked for MK comic recommendations. I'll include links to a couple of really good reading guides from the subreddit (that I had Zero hand in making) and toss my two cents below. Not that it'll buy you anything.
TL;DR: See reddit below, be sure to check out the Excel master list of appearances. Most of the quality runs has been printed in omnibus, Epic Collection, trade paperback, Marvel app. You know.
Tumblr media
If those links don't work, go to the r/MoonKnight subreddit and check out the Reading Suggestions and Collected Editions in the menu.
Tumblr media
Below the cut, I give a sort of non-spoiler walkthrough and talk about what's in print .
Cory's Reading List [Edited 2 April 2024]
I read everything on the below list. I have my opinions. If I tell you not to read something, it's because I don't like it. But I'm also some Jewish singlet/non DID/OSDD guy on the internet.
Here are some articles by a system who is a fan of the Moon Knight System.
Tumblr media
Okay, finally, the list
Werewolf by Night (1975) #32 and #33. First appearance.
Marvel Spotlight #29
Hulk Magazine #13-15, #17-18, #20-21 (they're the backup stories, so if you're 'online' search and read by Hulk, scroll halfway through the issue)
Marvel Preview #21
Moon Knight (1980) #1-38 written mostly by Moench and drawn by Sienkiewicz. "But Cory, why are we reading all these old comics?" Because while different words are used now, the writers of the first run do really well at making Marc, Steven, and Jake a system. Iconic rogues are introduced. Marc's first backstory in #37 and #38 is the perfect backstory, imo.
Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu (1985) fucking sucks but #6 is great. So, read #1 so you know what the plot is and #6.
West Coast Avengers (1985-1994) goes here. The first time Khonshu is more than just some weird statue. Also includes Tigra and Marc kissing. MK is in issues #21-41, which is collected in 3 different Epic Collections and at least one is out of print because someone in Marvel hates me specifically /jk. The Epic Collections are titled: Lost in Space-Time, Tales To Astonish (out of print), and Vision Quest.
Marc Spector: Moon Knight (1989-1994) is 60 issues and it gets borderline unreadable about halfway through. That being said, the first half has some great stuff. So honestly, read a few stories from it, get tired, and know he dies at the end. Then read
Resurrection Wars and High Strangers - two separate mini-series by Moench because they killed his boy. Walks back some of the MS: MK things to the 1980s days.
MK (2006) is 30 grimdark issues. The first 13 issues are usually all I can stomach. Marc gets injured, kills Bushman in an extremely violent way, and has substance use issues. He also is extremely violent, lashes out/pushes away his original cast. The run is hella ableist.
Vengeance of the Moon Knight (2009): The most Marc acting Jake Lockley in existence, coming back from a stint in Mexico at the end of MK 2006. Some retcons. It's. Fine.
Secret Avengers (2010) #19 is one of the only issues with decent MK. First sighting of Mr. Knight. Too bad it's by Ellis. The rest of Secret Avengers is ableist or he's not really there.
Shadowland: MK is an event tie-in. Does some retcons I like but also our favorite can't stay dead brother is back.
MK (2011) by Bendis. Don't read it. Steven and Jake are replaced by Cap, Wolverine, and Spider-Man. Why isn't addressed.
MK (2014): Marc's back from LA. Introducing Mr. Knight. As far as plot goes, it's mid. As far as cool art goes, it fucks. Do you like black and white suit? Marc punching ghosts? Bird skull Khonshu? Tell Shavley thanks. This run is mostly out of print on account that the first writer, Ellis, sexually coerced people.
MK (2016): Lemire and Smallwood. The dream team. It's set in the System's inner world. If you can only get one run in print, this is the one I recommend.
MK (2017): The Bemis run. Websites attach it to the Lemire run. It's not. Stop reading 2016 when issue #188 appears. It's shit.
Avengers (2018) #31-38. Age of Khonshu only is relevant for what Marc does now and his mental state.
MK (2021) wrapped at 30 issues in December 2023.❤️ MacKay gets it right the vast majority of the time. The art (inks and colors) are some of my favorite work around Sienkiewicz and Shavley. Like Lemire, MacKay ties in classic points with new directions.
Vengeance of the Moon Knight (2024) is the current ongoing from January 2024-???. Same creative team as Moon Knight (2021).
Tumblr media
Print Options:
Omnibus is a heavy, oversized, hardback and contains a lot more issues. They also have some weird printing smell and texture. Epic Collections are standard sized, softback that has more issues than a Trade Paper Back (TPB). Make sure you read the back of the volumes so you don't buy repeats. Weigh pros and cons. What do you value/can afford? And the physical weight of the omnibus.
As of Spring 2024, there are currently 5 omnibuses with another on the way.
MK OMNIBUS: Volume 1 (1975-1980) - MK's first appearance, the backups from Hulk magazine, half of the 1980 run.
MK OMNIBUS: Volume 2 (1980-1985) - other half of 1980 run, MK: Fist of Khonshu
MS: MK OMNIBUS Volume 1 (1989-1994) - #1-34 (out of the 60 issues), some Spidey, some Castle.
MS: MK OMNIBUS Volume 2 (1989-1994) - #35-60 and both of Moench's mini-series (Resurrection Wars and High Strangers) and 3 issues of Black Panther. Do I recommend this omnibus? Not really. After the first story in this omni (and even it is stretching it), it really does fall off that cliff. But, I got it because I wanted it on my shelf. Moench and Black Panther stuff helps soften the sting.
MK by Huston, Benson, & Hurwitz OMNIBUS (2006-2010) - all 30 issues of 2006's run and Vengeance of MK, and Shadowland.
Additionally, MacKay's 2021-2023 run will be published as an omnibus in October 2024. I'm only surprised it's happening this soon and without Vengeance but...We'll see what happens in Vengeance eh?
There are currently 6 (going on 7) Epic Collections for the pre-ehhhh... 2006 stuff. Everything after 2006 and Vengeance 2009 is far more accessible in Trades (paper or hardback) or single-volume for certain runs.
MK Epic Collection: Bad Moon Rising - early adventures pre-1980 and the first 4 issues of 1980.
MK: Countdown to Dark: the Hulk backups and Marvel Preview #21.
MK Epic Collection: Shadows of the Moon - MK (1980) #5-23
MK Epic Collection: Final Rest - MK (1980) #24-38
MK Epic Collection: Butcher's Moon - tie-ins, solo issues, and MS: MK (1989) #1-7.
MK Epic Collection: Death Watch. Collects MS: MK #39-51, Divided we fall, and some other tie-ins. Yes, we do jump ahead from #7 to #39.
MK Epic Collection: The Trial of Marc Spector fills in some of Death Watch's gap with MS: MK #8-25 and that Punisher annual. It comes out in October 2024 as well.
For Lemire's run, there is a one volume softcover collection called Moon Knight by Lemire & Smallwood: The Complete Collection. This is the one you want.
Happy reading!!

Mass Effect 1 Replay, start of Voyager Cluster:
Yangtze:
-Binthu has no known native ecology. It's covered in grass. Hmm.
-The Prothean pyramid has children's toys and ragged clothes stuffed inside the top. What species? Are these Prothean artifacts or from Turians that visited the planet at some point?
-First Cerberus base has a Rachni in it. No comments from anyone. Seems like Liara at least should recognize a Rachni.
-Second Cerberus base has Thorian Creepers. Odd they're labeled like that when I haven't been to Feros yet. You think someone would comment how similar they are to husks, but no.
And of course, when I go to Feros no one will comment that they've seen the Thorian Creepers before.
-Third Cerberus base. Kahoku was killed, then thrown in with the Rachni. Why? If he's dead, why throw him in? If they're going to throw him in, why not let the Rachni kill him?
-This is actually a very interesting mission. It proves Cerberus had a hand in both Feros and Noveria.
If you haven't been to them yet, it's a mini preview of what's to come.
It's just a shame that ME2... doesn't really use it, despite centering Cerberus. TIM and Miranda claim they're rogue cells and Shepard can't push back on it.
ME2 should have done something more than change a few lines of dialogue depending on if Shepard had played the Cerberus related missions or not.
Columbia
-How did I learn there's a Cerberus base here?
I have a mission for UNC: Hade's Dogs that there's a Cerberus base on Nepheron, but I don't recall actually learning that while on Binthu.
-Ontaher - I appreciate how Bioware has a good grasp on human nature. There's a meme that the mass of this planet is unusually large because a Prothean ship crashed into it. The planet's mass is normal.
-Gromar - First mention of an interferometric array! Later one is a war asset in ME3.
Here, the Turians used the array to chart the Terminus Systems before the Alliance expanded into the Voyager Cluster. The other half of the array was in the Attican Beta.
So... After the Alliance moved in the Turians just gave up a valuable asset? What? Why would they do that? Was this at least negotiated and the Turians received something in return?
And why would the Alliance want the array removed? Charting the Terminus systems - next door to Alliance colonies - sounds like something the Alliance want!
-Two asteroid belts and no asteroids? Am I just very bad at finding them?
-Nepheron - I do like how thresher maw sites often have the remains of previous victims. Good use of environmental storytelling.
-The anomaly is a Cerberus soldier with a League of One tag. The corpse is a Salarian. Something slipped through editing. :) Either that or Cerberus is more open minded than I give them credit for.
-Why does the Cerberus base have concrete pipes large enough for sewers? The only thing I can think of is that's it's related to the Rachni somehow. They are very large pipes.

20 questions for fic writers!
@annerbhp said she tagged anyone who wants to do this.
How many works do you have on ao3? 26, of which 15 are in English
What’s your total ao3 word count? 50,585
What fandoms do you write for? I have written for Mass Effect (Trilogy + Andromeda), Harry Potter, Rivers of London, Firefly, The Memoirs of Lady Trent, Rogue One, … mostly a small number of fics each, it seems that I'm a fandom hopper. I can't say what I'm working on at the moment, for reasons of (exchange related) secrecy, but my other WIP that I can talk about is for this one German crime TV show that's got a new episode upcoming soon, Tatort (the Saarbrücken version).
What are your top five fics by kudos? HP: What we're made of, my trans Viktor Krum/Hermione Granger fic Good Omens: Sleepless Night, my Ineffable Husbands insomnia comfort ficlet Rogue One: The Darkest Prison, my Baze/Chirrut during imperial occupation fic Rivers of London: Bintumani, my Elsie Winstanley in Sierra Leone adventure fic The Memoirs of Lady Trent: Studying Dragons, my fic about a queer subculture in the flying university
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Yes, I usually respond to comments, but sometimes they sit for a (really long) while in my inbox before I answer because I want to look at them in the preview of my unread comments. Why do I answer? Always in the hopes of awesome dialogue :D but also to show my appreciation for the commenters
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? My first impulse was to say that I don't do pure angst without happy endings, but that's not true: I've written two Mass Effect fics that fit the bill. One is wistful and introspective about a failed relationship between Ryder and Reyes Vidal, but the other is more angsty: "under the burning sun", a story set between ME1 and ME2 in which Shepard & Kaidan return to Virmire to grieve Ashley. It's a story about grief and doesn't have a happy or even hopeful ending. They lost someone they didn't want to lose.
What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I'm not sure it's the happiest, but my fluffiest ending is in "Spürst du die Funken", my (German language) Dean/Seamus getting together story with gay Seamus & grayromantic bi Dean that I'm still meaning to translate into English some day.
Do you get hate on fic? I've never gotten hate on fic. Fingers crossed it stays that way.
Do you write smut? Not until recently, and I haven't published anything yet. One of my Tatort Saarbrücken fics is going to be very smutty though. Like, pure smut with a side order of character development.
Do you write crossovers? I haven't published any crossovers yet, but one of my WIPs is a Rivers of London / The Old Guard crossover in which they're in the same world, and Peter becomes the same kind of immortal as the Old Guard.
Have you ever had a fic stolen? As far as I know, no.
Have you ever had a fic translated? No, not so far.
Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes, it's one of the Tatort Saarbrücken WIPs! With @shakespearerants . We're kind of stuck on the editing though because I can't find the time for getting back into it.
What’s your all-time favourite ship? I'm a multishipper (multiple ships even for the same character), how am I supposed to have an all-time favourite? Also, since I'm not that prolific and I'm a fandom hopper, there aren't many pairings for which I've written much. I guess Ron/Hermione is the pairing I've written the most? But that's, like, 3 oneshots.
What’s a WIP you want to finish but probably won’t? I haven't given up hope for any of them. There are some I don't want to finish because I've lost interest, but for the rest, I'm still keeping up hope. There is one that has a low priority though, and that's a fic for the book "Firebrand" in the Green Rider series in which Zachary and Estora have consensual but very bad (and from Zachary's side unwanted) sex. I started it because their dynamic was so uncomfortable in that book, everyone acting as if everything was alright, even Zachary himself, and I wanted to explore what I felt was an approach more true to the emotional reality of the situation.
What are your writing strengths? Introspection and emotions. Also, landscapes and travel logistics, I think. But I'd be interested to hear other people's opinions on that, obviously.
What are your writing weaknesses? Dialogue. I'm used to writing introspection. I love lingering in the internal thoughts and feelings of my POV character, and since that's the kind of role play writing I've done for almost 10 years now, I'm good at it (and in German, I can do it subtly). But it doesn't lend itself to the rhythm a good dialogue needs to have, so I always struggle with that. I should try to get more into theatre.
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I'd do it if it fit my story, but I have strong feelings about how to do it. It has to fit the situation and the characters, and having dialogue in another language than the fic is a stylistic choice that tells us something about the POV character and the other characters. So you'd have to do it very deliberately. Also, I'm particular about bilingualism and accents. Mostly, I don't show accents in written speech, especially when it's not something the characters would notice. A good example of how I use other languages and accents of other languages in fics would be "What we're made of", my trans Viktor Krum story. I wrote it from his point of view, so of course he doesn't notice his own accent in English, how his pronounciation differs from, e.g., Hermione's. In his dialogue, I write him making grammar mistakes I think a native speaker of Bulgarian could make in English (extrapolating from my experience of Bulgarians speaking German, adapted to English grammar), but in his internal thoughts, I use normal English grammar because he thinks in grammatically correct Bulgarian, even though I don't comment on it.
First fandom you wrote for? The very first I wrote for was some horse girl book I had as a child. The first I published were for Harry Potter.
Favourite fic you’ve written? To Serve the Sacred, a very niche Mass Effect Andromeda worldbuilding fic from the POV of a Kett soldier, a view into the internal politics and religion of the Kett, which are the (on the surface generic) bad guys of the game. There's a lot of implied lore, and I'm exploring that. I still want to write an continuation of the game in which I'd explore it even more, as I have a big interconnected headcanon for why they are the way they are. Anyway, that fic has 21 hits and 3 kudos, but I'm immensely proud of it.
I'm tagging @shakespearerants @freizusein @hermitknut @astronicht and @weatheredlaw - and as always, anyone who wants to do this! Seriously, I mean it (as you can see from the fact that I wasn't tagged personally, either).

WIP tag game
Rules: List some (or all) of your WIPs with a short concept summary.
tagged by @honeyteacakes, thank you for the tag! Sorry this took so long, my wips are....well. I have many WIPs so I'm just going to post the ones I'm actively working on!
Midnight Pleasures - Vampire AU fic where Hob makes a deal with a vampire named Dream. In exchange, Hob needs to help Dream hunt down a rogue creation of his.
[Still Untitled] - Hobrintheus PWP oneshot where Dream fucks Hob and the Corinthian in the Sea of Nighmares. Eldritch horror sexytimes ensues.
[Still Untitled] - Dreamling Regency Era + Omegaverse AU. All your usual trappings of courting and marriage + sexytimes
[Still Untitled] - Dreamling human AU where Dream is a romance novel audiobook narrator, and Hob may be obsessed with his voice.
[Still Untitled] Dreamling twoshot where Desire's realm is invaded by Hell, and Dream is injured in an unique way trying to drive off Lucifer. Pretty basic fuck or die premise.
There's more but these are the ones I've opened up in the last two weeks to work on! Plus that lovely sacrificial maiden AU I wrote yesterday, but that one's completed, just making small edits to it now. I think almost all of these have some sort of preview on my Writing Masterpost, which is also pinned to the top of my blog.
I FORGOT TO TAG PEOPLE AIDJASIDAD. Tagging @melodiousramblings @delta-pavonis @quellawrites and I'm too tired to tag anyone else, but if you see this and want to do it, consider yourself tagged by me! Also no pressure for those who are tagged to do it

Political Ideologies
Harmony (right-wing preservationist / "conservative" party, with very limited Wilsonism involved due to historical failings, so like a mixture of Democrats and Republicans as a Unionist Party)
Progress (think of the Theodore Roosevelt progressives party...)
Liberty (political center party)
Syndicalism (alternate development & continuation of IRL marxism, leninism, maoism, trotskyist "new-left" and the other left-wing doctrines of the socialism / communism types)
Georgism / ( "One Tax" + Ecological movement )
Classical Liberalism (aka open-choice Libertarians with brutal constructivist modular views of the world perhaps?)
Philosophies
[ Yet to be really researched and decided ]
Historical equivalences & differences
Mersuit emulating the history of Sweden.
Shoshoni as something somewhat similar to a developed amerindian old westerns' United States of America...
Widespread appeal of Asetism (Monasteries, humility and introspection, likewise to Jains and Buddhists) & Taizhou (Tala-e-Fonua equivalent) as key major worldly religions
No Woodrow Wilson, progressive major successes in the 1910-1945 equivalent.
More long-term sustainable and successful generational pathway in the 1960s-2000 period, still leading to a slow partial ecological collapse like in the Incatena reality just about around the mid 2045-2050 period with signs of decay arising from the 2020s. So the sapient peoples are more cooperative and empowered with the people that era and won't see as much of the managerial crisis sparks until the mid-2020s.
The global pandemic hit during the early 2000s alongside the dawn of ecological issues coming ahead (giving a slight headstart to fully figure problems coming not that far ahead), just around the time of nanotech synthetic autonomous androids emergence and a handful of alternatively successful technical progressions making them a slight bit ahead of ours on a couple fields. No mainstream autonomous governance AI service grids or really crazy Sci-fi innovations just yet, but a fair share of orphaned developments we did not have continue in this world.
A couple of benevolent worker cooperatives like Pflaumen (DEC+ZuseKG), EBM (IBM+ICL) & Utalics (Symbolics+Commodore+GNU Foundation)... continue well into the 21st century and persist as major computation players in the tech industry, averting the immediate rise of Macroware (Microsoft), Avant (Google) & Maynote (Meta) by the ill-conceived social medium strategy.
[ More to be written... ]
POSTFACE
All may be subject to heavy changes still (but especially everything global map related), so take it with a large pinch of salt, please. Thanks for reading btw and farewell to soon!

Preview panel only. Click here for full cartoon. Or see the on-site navigation tutorial. Or see this tumblog’s FAQ. Cartoons may contain unmarked spoilers. Cartoons linked at about 10:00 Central US are new and link posts are pinned to the top of the blog. Cartoons linked at about 22:00 are from the archive and are only pinned during annual summer hiatus of new cartoons. Thanks for reading.
[Image description: Preview panel for the comic strip at the link. Captain Burnham of Star Trek Discovery and Baze and Chirrut of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story stand on an alien planet with a rain of something falling on them. Baze and Chirrut are each holding one of the talismans which indicate travel to this fiction plane by means of the spell Willow Rosenberg invented. Baze is trying to fend off the falling objects with his. Chirrut seems unphazed by them, as if he has some special talent for deflecting falling objects or something. Unfortunately there are not image descriptions at the main Hero Of Three Faces site. End description.]
This is an example of a case when I went back later and replaced the Doctor in a Three Faces with some of the other spacetime visitors I’ve added into Three Faces. When this cartoon was new its preview panel was this:
Tumblr media
I go back and do this editing sometimes because I have trouble remembering to use the others in realtime because the Doctor is such a favorite of mine. I’ve been remembering a little more often lately, like with the She-Hulk one and the War of Nerves one, but not as often as I’d like. The reason I mention the talisman(s) in the image descriptions of preview panels is because I’m sure there are readers who forget between their appearances that these character have become spacetime travelers in Three Faces.

[image description from alt text: A digital sketch of three people floating through the air together. There is a man sketched in green, a woman sketched in pink, and another woman sketched in blue.
The man has long choppy hair, square glasses, and is wearing a Sylph of Light outfit. He's scowling at his phone and is labeled "texting Oculus" and "cannot be left alone." He is linked at the elbow with the woman in pink, who has star-shaped sunglasses, long straight hair, is wearing an Heir of Heart outfit, and is smiling widely at the woman in blue, who she is holding hands with.
The woman in blue has short curly hair, a Rogue of Void outfit, and has her other hand in the pocket of her hoodie. She is smiling at the woman in pink and the two women are labeled "having a good time." end description.]
okay i have to go to bed bcus i do actually have work in the morning, but!! i finished the sketch for this piece and i'm really happy with how it came out, so have a rare full preview from me, lmao. clair was a late edition to his piece but i think the image of him having to get dragged along bcus he can't be left alone while feuding with oculus over text is very funny
and i was gonna put all of these together in a group pic anyway, so hey! less work for these three lol
also i decided stacy gets star-shaped sunglasses

Current Cosmic Dash Canon Guide 5/1/22
The following is a transcription of the official canon and storyline guide at CosmicDash.com. If you are unfamiliar with Cosmic Dash, this is your first chance to get a sense of the scale of the project. Many of the items listed here will also appear on Tumblr in time, so consider this a preview.
This project is ongoing, so this list is updated when new stories are completed and released on the website. I will do my best to edit the information here as it shows up.
Story Archive – Series Canon and Timeline
This page is an index of all the canon Cosmic Dash stories that are currently available in the story archive. These stories will be compiled in timeline order, starting with the latest story at the top of the list. The earliest story will be at the very bottom. These include comics, short stories, and novellas. Because of the nature of Meilo Thench’s articles, those are excluded from the timeline but are assumed to be concurrent with the most recent stories unless some internal date is established.
Volumes will be marked with bold text, spinoffs will include the series title. Please enjoy this glimpse at the universe through the story archive. We also provide canon notes and corrections at the bottom of the page.
About the Calendar
The current year of the comic is GSY 3010. A year features five quinaries, designated as Q1-5, akin to quarters of the year. Each quinary spans roughly three months of 25 days each. Therefore, a Galactic Standard Year is roughly 375 days.
Story Archive – Canon Timeline
Vol. 4 – On the Road – GSY 3010 (Q4)
“On the Road” is the current volume of Cosmic Dash and, while currently unfinished, will span 18 days.
Vol. 4 Ep. 3 – Ladies’ Fight
Minicomic: Soar – (only the framing story is set in volume 4, this is an extended flashback)
One Piece: Vark #2 – Work Mandated Equipment

Canon Notes
The following bullet points are canon notes to clarify or correct any errors that exist in the series. As I mostly work alone, sometimes continuity errors do occur. Please e-mail me (hpkomic @ gmail.com) if you have any errors you have observed.
Two Discord-exclusive comics occupy fuzzy canonicity. The first, Cosmic Dash – “Moment of Calm” is set in an unspecified future of the comics and contains slight spoilers. The second comic is a non-canon Nightlifers story, written by Deft Beck and illustrated by Jamil Gonzalez that features a now-depreciated take on the setting and characters.
Previous depictions of the Blassnaught Empire’s soldiers in Vol. 1 Ep. 2 depicted them in red when they should have worn blue. That has since been corrected.
