The fact that Abel believes humans and vampires are all God's children is such an interesting detail. Like Abel has enough guilt already, but the fact that he doesn't see vampires as soulless beings just seems like it would add additional layers of guilt to him.

#ok i get that he can survive without vampire blood #although that is never satisfactorily explained... maybe the answer is in the books which i really need to read #and he also only ever feeds on evil vampires #but i still wonder if he feels sadness because they won't get a second chance because i feel like second chances are important to him #like his whole shtick is that he is penitent of his past sins so i feel like he probably regrets taking that chance away from others #but at the same time i think he also knows that he's doing the right thing which is probably a little bit comforting #there's just something sad and poetic about his acts of penance making him more guilty #it kinda drives home the idea in the Bible that your good deeds are as rags and salvation is only by the grace of God #trinity blood #abel nightroad #film analysis

Why are you so angry all the time? Why do you lock yourself away from the world? Why are you not living your life they ask?

I answer with my own set of questions. How can I live in a body that doesn’t work? In a house divided? In a mind that constantly races? How can I go out and try to make a living when I know off the back of my labor my money goes to funding genocide? How can I think positively and go out and have fun when children are being gun downed for going to school, the movies, the mall? Is this survivor’s guilt? It can’t be. I don’t feel guilty for surviving. I feel rage and sorrow that I have to survive. I should be living. We should be living. One shouldn’t have to struggle to eat, drink, and have basic healthcare and rights.

someone, probably, at some point, likely told me 'hey maybe you should try out audiobooks that do more involved productions, like with sound effects and music and stuff, that might work out for you where the more robotic single-narrator nonfiction stuff isn't holding your attention--'

and to that hypothetical person, I would like to say I'm sorry because it turns out you might be correct

anyway, if I catch up on the high republic before the acolyte premieres (which I really want to do because that sneak-peak after the phantom menace was INTRIGUING AS HELL) it will be down to a massive data entry project and my sudden ability to listen to audiobooks but only if they have sound effects and snippets of soundtracks

#i listened to like 10 chapters today #and i finished salvation day FINALLY so i'm going to focus up #can i do it? probably not but i'm going to TRY #i don't think the high republic books are what people call 'full production' because there's just one narrator?#but there's also like ambient sound and bits of the score #it's been kind of fun to pick out the ones i know where in the films they come from haha
