"Hmm, he's home." you hear the voice of your man-or his copy to be exact, followed by metallic clunking at the door. You were just about to doze off from a long day, finding comfort on the couch to await his return. "Jiiin?~" you call sweetly as he finishes wrestling the stubborn doorknob unlocked. "Yeah, babe? I'm home, sweetcheeks." he replies, stepping inside. "Damn thing needs to get replaced. I brought takeout." he shoves the door closed with a clatter and locks it, before toeing off his boots and making his way to the kitchen. You grin, prancing up in glee to patter to the bathroom to retrieve something. You were waiting patiently for him to come home, so you could tell him.

"Jiiiin, I got something for you!~" you singsong, retrieving the pregnancy test you'd hidden. You hear him turn the radio on, and turn through the stations as you make your way to him. The song was ending and fading out into nothing before someone began to thank their listeners and announce the next song. You and Jin's song. "Comin' home to you's all I need. I'd love anything from you, baby." you hear him as you round the corner, spying his back. Now minus his button-up, you saw that he wore his spandex suit, as usual. Too bad he was wearing his jeans. Sexy as always, you stare at his back for a few moments, as his muscle flexed while he was removing the food from its bag, enjoying the view as the song began to play. "You sexy man, you. Looky, baby." you approach him and hug him behind, smiling at his chuckle. He turns a bit and you lift the stick for him to see. You giggle as he furrows his brows. "Wassat? Is it a pre-gh--" he trails off coughing, snagging it from you once he sees what it actually was, and you let him, pulling away.

"You're--holy fuck. You're pregnant?!" he raises his voice in surprise, turning to you fully, jaw dropped and eyes wide. You grin, nodding sweetly, and patting your belly. "With our gremlin, honeybun." you tell him. He stares at you for several moments. The test is eventually swung to the bin, "Fuck takeout, then." his lips curling up into a rugged grin that made you feel giddy, "Let's celebrate, then, shall we, sweetcheeks?" he bends and hoists you up and over his shoulder, making you squeal. "Jin!" you gasp, "The daylight holds you close~" he sings, playfully smacking the back of your thigh, hauling you towards the bedroom with long strides. You laugh in his hold.

"But tonight you are mine~" he sings, kicking the door closed behind him.

Ahh I cant believe it's eid already. Seriously the past few weeks have been soo hectic and rushed I couldn't keep up with anything

I barely scored Jamils Beanfest R. And all of a sudden his SSR show's up when I'm completely broke ಠ╭╮ಠ

Readers rant time, motivated by my need for book recs. (Not looking to argue, just looking for books plz):

Ok there's a reason we (youngish and not so youngish) adults keep reading YA (teen) fiction. The tropes, the action and excitement, and especially the romance and simp worthy love interests.

Back when I was actually a teen/tween the YA books usually had much deeper topics of exploration than the adult books did! Like His Dark Material, Uglies, Tomorrow When the War Began, the Time quintet, Hunger Games, Speak, Don't You Dare Read This Mrs. Dunfree etc.

But I'm so tired of reading YA... the market is completely oversaturated now, mostly it's crap, knock offs of the more successful books, and most never even coming close to the quality and impact of its predecessors. Old school YA from the 90's and early 2000's tackled a lot of deep topics, with gray characters, themes dealing with all the nuisance in surviving and experiencing real world issues like suicide, addiction, mental illness, abuse, and the horror of war. (Tho I am very glad theres more lgbtqa stories these days than there were back in my day, that's a huge plus).

Now YA is so often just tumblr pc crap 🤦‍♀️ like do you think Speak would go over well if it was published today? Or the indie film adaptation? People would say kids had no business reading it! But you know what? Kids are raped every day, and they need stories to

A) help them recognize what happened to them

B) have a character to empathize with (soooo important in recovery)

C) know how to support a friend if it happens to them.

(Kristin Stewarts first film role I think, she was only 14, played a highschool freshman who was date raped by a senior and the story followed her dealing with the mental, physical, and emotional repercussions of her trauma, the reactions of her peers, friends, teachers, and family etc. It's an excellent little film and book, and Kristin Stewart really shows off a natural talent. Like she really is a good actress, if you ever saw Speak before Twilight like I did, you never would have thought she deserved the hate. But I'm getting off topic...)

So anyway I started trying to read adult fiction since the new pc YA is like junk food basically. And honestly it either doesn't contain the tropes and elements which I love in YA, or it's as poorly written as the YA. Like it reads like modern YA with smut (cough *acotar* cough. Not hating on it, I own all the books lol). And there's nothing wrong with those books.

Just... is it to much to ask for a fantasy or scifi enemies to lovers with like actual gray morality exploring something like idk, for example (not necessarily any of these, just I want serious reading to stimulate my mind) racial prejudice in a nuianced way (not a morality tale in other words), different religions, really asking what equality is, then add some action scenes, maybe a war with forbidden lovers elements for spice, with characters who are in their like mid-20's to 30's age group? Something that's actually literary material with adult characters and tropy enough to be fun? There doesn't even have to be smut, though if it was good I would definitely gratefully take it! (most published authors are terrible smut writers, especially men, I go to fanfic for that thank you very much, ya'll on ao3 are much more talented in that department).

Anyway, this is my long winded rant asking for book recs 😂

Basically, I want tropey action filled enemies to lovers that is written more to an adult literary standard. (And don't bash tropes lol, Shakespeare was king of tropes lol. Jane Austen had fun playing with tropes too, often subverting them. It is possible!).

Some of my recent fav YA books have been Folk of the Air and Shadow & Bone. But the characters are just so much younger than me it was hard to relate at times, especially since it was written for a younger audience. (When I say I want enemies to lovers, I mean I WANT TO KILL YOU BECAUSE I HATE YOU enemies btw. I'm even fine with characters who only get to enemies who occasionally fuck for that extra spicy angst 😂 I like my characters feral, not glowing examples of morality). Villians, anti-villians, and anti-heroes are my preferred protagonists and love interests.

(And if you recommend GoT, I already own all the books. Started the first one but couldn't keep track of who was who, so I binged the show so I'd have actors faces to envision to help me keep track of everyone. So yes I do have those to read on my bookshelf. I just need some time to grieve that horrible 8th season.)
