We've found quite a variety of books being released today. There is romance, fantasy, music, murder, and more in the pages of these books. What will you add to your TBR pile?
Wild Dreamers by Margarita Engle Atheneum Books for Young Readers
In this stirring young adult romance from award-winning author Margarita Engle, love and conservation intertwine as two teens fight to protect wildlife and heal from their troubled pasts.
Ana and her mother have been living out of their car ever since her militant father became one of the FBI’s most wanted. Leandro has struggled with debilitating anxiety since his family fled Cuba on a perilous raft.
One moonlit night, in a wilderness park in California, Ana and Leandro meet. Their connection is instant—a shared radiance that feels both scientific and magical. Then they discover they are not a huge mountain lion stalks through the trees, one of many wild animals whose habitat has been threatened by humans.
Determined to make a difference, Ana and Leandro start a rewilding club at their school, working with scientists to build wildlife crossings that can help mountain lions find one another. If pumas can find their way to a better tomorrow, surely Ana and Leandro can too.
Saint-Seducing Gold (Forge & Fracture Saga #2) by Brittany N. Williams Amulet Books
The second book in the stunning YA historical fantasy trilogy that New York Times bestselling author Ayana Gray called “nothing short of spectacular”
There’s danger in the court of James I. Magical metal-worker Joan Sands must reforge the Pact between humanity and the Fae to stop the looming war. As violence erupts across London and the murderous spymaster Robert Cecil closes in, the Fae queen Titanea coerces Joan into joining the royal court while holding her godfather prisoner in the infamous Tower of London. Now Joan will have to survive deadly machinations both magical and mortal all while balancing the magnetic pull of her two loves—Rose and Nick—before the world as she knows it is destroyed forever.
Off With Their Heads by Zoe Hana Mikuta Disney Hyperion
Fans of Chloe Gong and Judy I. Lin will devour this Korean-inspired Alice in Wonderland retelling about two very wicked girls, forever bonded by blood and betrayal . . .
In a world where Saints are monsters and Wonderland is the dark forest where they lurk, it’s been five years since young witches and lovers Caro Rabbit and Iccadora Alice Sickle were both sentenced to that forest for a crime they didn’t commit—and four years since they shattered one another’s hearts, each willing to sacrifice the other for a chance at freedom.
Now, Caro is a successful royal Saint-harvester, living the high life in the glittering capital and pretending not to know of the twisted monster experiments that her beloved Red Queen hides deep in the bowels of the palace. But for Icca, the memory of Caro’s betrayal has hardened her from timid girl to ruthless hunter. A hunter who will stop at nothing to exact her On Caro. On the queen. On the throne itself.
But there’s a secret about the Saints the Queen’s been guarding, and a volatile magic at play even more dangerous to Icca and Caro than they are to each other…
Lush, terrifying, and uncanny, Zoe Hana Mikuta—author of Gearbreakers and Godslayers —takes a delicate knife straight through the heart of this beloved surrealist fairytale.
Kill Her Twice by Stacey Lee G.P. Putnam’s Sons Books for Young Readers
Los Angeles, 1932: Lulu Wong, star of the silver screen and the pride of Chinatown, has a face known to practically anyone, especially to the Chow sisters—May, Gemma, and Peony—Lulu’s former classmates and neighbors. So the girls instantly know it’s Lulu whose body they discover one morning in an out-of-the-way stable, far from the Beverly Hills mansion where she moved once her fame skyrocketed.
The sisters suspect Lulu’s death is the result of foul play, but the LAPD—known for being corrupt to the core—doesn’t seem motivated to investigate. Even worse, there are signs that point to the possibility of a police cover-up, and powerful forces in the city want to frame the killing as evidence that Chinatown is a den of iniquity and crime, even more reason it should be demolished to make room for the construction of a new railway depot, Union Station.
Worried that neither the police nor the papers will treat a Chinese girl fairly—no matter how famous and wealthy—the sisters set out to solve their friend’s murder themselves, and maybe save their neighborhood in the bargain. But with Lulu’s killer still on the loose, the girls’ investigation just might put them square in the crosshairs of a coldblooded murderer.
Punk Rock Karaoke by Bianca Xunise Viking Books for Young Readers
When life gives you guitars, smash them!
School is out for summer and Ariel Grace Jones is determined to make it one for the books! Together with their bestie bandmates, Michele and Gael, Ariel believes they’re destined to break into the music industry and out of Chicago’s Southside by singing lead in their garage punk band, Baby Hares.
But before Baby Hares can officially get into the groove, the realities of post grad life start to weigh on this crew of misfits. Ari begins to worry that it’s time to pull the plug on their dreams of making it big.
Just when all hope feels lost, a fellow punk and local icon takes an interest in their talent. It seems like he might be the only one Ariel can rely on as frustrations between bandmates reach at an all-time high.
Punk Rock Karaoke is a coming-of-age tale that draws upon the explosive joy of the underground scene, while raising questions about authenticity, the importance of community and what it means to succeed on your own terms.
Song of the Six Realms by Judy I. Lin Feiwel & Friends
Xue, a talented young musician, has no past and probably no future. Orphaned at a young age, her kindly poet uncle took her in and arranged for an apprenticeship at one of the most esteemed entertainment houses in the kingdom. She doesn’t remember much from before entering the House of Flowing Water, and when her uncle is suddenly killed in a bandit attack, she is devastated to lose her last connection to a life outside of her indenture contract.
With no family and no patron, Xue is facing the possibility of a lifetime of servitude playing the qin for nobles that praise her talent with one breath and sneer at her lowly social status with the next. Then one night she is unexpectedly called to the garden to put on a private performance for the enigmatic Duke Meng. The young man is strangely kind and awkward for nobility, and surprises Xue further with an irresistible offer: serve as a musician in residence at his manor for one year, and he’ll set her free of her indenture.
But the Duke’s motives become increasingly more suspect when he and Xue barely survive an attack by a nightmarish monster, and when he whisks her away to his estate, she discovers he’s not just some country noble: He’s the Duke of Dreams, one of the divine rulers of the Celestial Realm. There she learns the Six Realms are on the brink of disaster, and incursions by demonic beasts are growing more frequent.
The Duke needs Xue’s help to unlock memories from her past that could hold the answers to how to stop the impending war… but first Xue will need to survive being the target of every monster and deity in the Six Realms.
Blood Justice (Blood Debts #2) by Terry J. Benton-Walker Tor Teen
Cristina and Clement Trudeau have conjured the impossible: justice.
They took back their family’s stolen throne to lead New Orleans’ magical community into the brighter future they all deserve.
But when Cris and Clem restored their family power, Valentina Savant lost everything. Her beloved grandparents are gone and her sovereignty has been revoked—she will never be Queen. Unless, of course, someone dethrones the Trudeaus again. And lucky for her, she’s not the only one trying to take them down.
Cris and Clem have enemies coming at them from all directions: Hateful anti-magic protesters sabotage their reign at every turn. A ruthless detective with a personal vendetta against magical crime is hot on their tail just as Cris has discovered her thirst for revenge. And a brutal god, hunting from the shadows, is summoned by the very power Clem needs to protect the boy he loves.
Cris’s hunger for vengeance and Clem’s desire for love could prove to be their family’s downfall, all while new murders, shocking disappearances, and impossible alliances are changing the game forever.
Welcome back to New Orleans, where gods walk among us and justice isn’t served, it’s taken.

Veil of Shadows: Ahsoka's Saga by Jade Gretz
Ahsoka Tano landed her sleek VCX-100 freighter on the desolate moon of Ryloth. The desolate landscape mirrored the unease stirring within her. A tremor, a ripple in the Force, had drawn her here, a disharmony unlike anything she had encountered before.
Gone were the vibrant blue hues of Ryloth's oceans, replaced by a sickly yellow sky that cast an unnatural glow on the cracked, barren terrain. Canyons, once teeming with life, lay dormant, their silence broken only by the howling wind that whipped at Ahsoka's Togruta lekku.
As she disembarked, the tremor hit again, a wave of nausea washing over her. The Force here was fractured, a broken melody that twisted and contorted around her. It wasn't a malevolent presence, not like the Sith she had faced, but something… wrong. Deeply wrong.
Drawing her twin lightsabers, Ahsoka activated their blue blades, the luminescence casting a pale blue glow on the ravaged landscape. Taking a deep breath, she ventured into the desolate canyon. The tremor subsided, replaced by an unnatural stillness, broken only by the steady crunch of her boots on the cracked ground.
The canyon walls seemed to shimmer, shifting in a way that defied explanation. Strange growths, luminous fungi of an otherworldly purple, clung to the rocks, their spores filling the air with a pungent stench. Ahsoka wrinkled her nose, her senses on high alert.
Then, she saw it. In the distance, a swirling vortex of energy pulsed, the air around it crackling with raw, unstable power. As she approached, the distorted landscape began to bend around her, defying perspective. Trees stretched into impossible shapes, boulders danced in mid-air, and the very ground seemed to ripple and flow like water.
The closer she got to the vortex, the more pronounced the effects became. Ahsoka stumbled, momentarily disoriented, her vision blurring. Doubts, like phantoms, flickered at the edges of her mind. Doubts about herself, about the Force, about the very reality she perceived.
But Ahsoka was a Jedi, forged in the fires of war and tempered by loss. With a determined set of her jaw, …(see the rest of the story at deviantart.com/jadegretzAI). Magnetized   by   the   appeal   of   her   triumph,   crowd   emerges,   their   glances   filled   with   reverence   and   hearts   brimming   with   gratitude.   They   draw   near,   a   clamor   of   adoration   and   assuagement,   their   voices   a   chorus   of   thanks   for   the   darkness   she   has   vanquished.   Among   them,   an   individual   offers   a   gesture   of   their   collective   esteem,   a   modest   tribute   that   she   receives   with   the   poise   of   an   autumn   leaf   on   the   breeze.   After   that,   she   directs   her   movements   toward   the   comfort   of   the   adjacent   resort. "The   money   I   possess   should   suffice   for   the   most   modest   of   accommodations."   Contemplates   aloud,   sandals   tapping   a   casual   cadence   against   the   wooden   deck.   Opulence   amidst   this   untamed   reef   looms   as   a   symbol   of   the   exclusivity   enclosed   within   its   walls,   a   privilege   that   few   can   claim.   Nonetheless,   she   moves   with   optimism   in   her   quest   for   simple   lodgings,   her   curved   physique   floating   with   the   serene   grandeur   of   the   moon's   reflection   upon   the   water.
As   Inoue   walks   up   to   the   counter,   her   auburn   tresses   cascading   into   a   kaleidoscope   of   twilight   shades,   she   smiles   and   bows   politely. "May   I   request   one   of   your   most   economical   rooms,   if   you   please?"   Inquires,   her   tone   a   soothing   wave.   However,   as   the   employee's   response   unfolds,   her   cheerfulness   dims,   supplanted   by   a   hue   of   consternation.   "My   apologies,   my   lady,   but   only   the   suites   of   highest   extravagance   remain   available."   Informs,   her   utterances   casting   a   pall   over   her   spirit.   Prolonged   silence   descends,   her   lips   parting,   yet   no   words   elope,   her   thoughts   a   whirlwind   of   concern.   Left   without   alternatives,   she   proposes,   her   speech   carrying   the   fragile   essence   of   hope.   "Might   there   be   a   basement?   Anything?   Must   I   resign   myself   to   the   beach?"   Her   appeal   lingers   in   the   nimbus.   The   clerk,   her   professionalism   unwavering,   responds   with   a   kindness   tinged   with   firmness.   "Regrettably,   there's   nothing   I   can   offer."   The   healer   stands   on   the   brink   of   uncertainty,   the   night   unfurling   before   her.

In the dense, verdant underbrush of the once-vibrant Sumerian forests, where the echoes of an ancient civilization still murmured through the leaves, stood a figure at the confluence of myth and machinery. A relic from a time when Sumer had reached the pinnacle of its technological glory, only to succumb to an enigmatic cataclysm that melded man and metal in the most haunting ways.
They called it the Guardian of Sumer, a sentinel left behind by a cadre of alchemists and scientists who had foreseen the end of their world. Its skull, a polished amalgam of metal and bone, reflected the fractured light that filtered through the canopy, a beacon of bygone knowledge. Its spine, a column of intertwined cables and vertebrae, held a vestige of the sacred code—the primordial language that once summoned gods and commanded the elements.
The tale that swirled amongst the tendrils of the forest was that of a quest. It was said that within the Guardian's cranial vault resided the last enigma of Sumer—a cryptic data-crystal capable of reviving the ancient technologies and restoring the long-lost balance between Earth and the cosmic entities they once communed with.
Adventurers and scholars from across the star-strewn expanses had ventured into these woods, seeking the truth of Sumer and its Guardian. Many believed the skull housed a map to the stars, a guide to the celestial gateways that the Sumerians had traversed in their golden age. Others speculated that it held the consciousness of the last great Sumerian king, waiting to share the wisdom needed to avert the impending doom of another cycle of destruction.
But the Guardian did not yield its secrets easily. Its presence was an enigma wrapped in paradoxes. It neither moved nor spoke, and yet, it seemed to watch, its eyes voids that yet appeared to follow those who wandered too close.
As the Earth spun on, the forest grew older, and the legacy of Sumer sank deeper into the roots of the world. The Guardian stood silent amongst the wildflowers, a sentinel of a long-forgotten saga, waiting for the one who could decipher the riddles of the past and wield the knowledge to forge a future where humanity might once again walk among the stars.

Bound By Destiny: The Saga of Phoenix and Xera
This is a story my boyfriend commissioned me to write. It is about two of our OCs meeting. Some of this is non-canon to what actually happens in the series I am working on. Amidst the swirling mists of a distant planet's twilight, Phoenix Sharpmoon stood, their youthful visage illuminated by the soft glow of the twin moons above. Despite the weight of their years—frozen in time for two centuries—Phoenix bore the appearance of a mere twenty-one-year-old, their features untouched by the passage of time.
Born of Panda Demon and Ice Dragon lineage, Phoenix possessed a rare blend of heritage that imbued them with both strength and sensitivity. Fresh into their role as leader, having taken command of Squad 637 only a few months prior, Phoenix carried the mantle of leadership with a mixture of determination and uncertainty.
Their journey to this alien realm had been one of upheaval and displacement, torn from their home realm by the machinations of the Soul Legion Empire at the tender age of sixteen. Now, at the cusp of adulthood, Phoenix grappled with the responsibilities thrust upon them, navigating the complexities of leadership amidst a world steeped in turmoil and uncertainty.
In the shadowy corners of a distant planet's sprawling wilderness, Xera Silverclaw moved with a grace that belied his shy demeanor. His form, a captivating fusion of shark and wolf, navigated the terrain with a gentleness that contrasted sharply with the ferocity of his appearance. Despite the raw power pulsating within him, Xera carried himself with an air of humility and reserve.
Though his heart brimmed with compassion and kindness, Xera bore the scars of his past like a heavy cloak, his trust in others fractured by the relentless pursuit of the Soul Legion Empire. Yet beneath the layers of apprehension lay a soul yearning for connection, for understanding amidst the chaos that had come to define his existence.
Gifted with psychic powers long before the Soul Legion's interference, Xera's abilities had been amplified to unprecedented levels by their cruel experiments. Now, haunted by visions of the future and pursued by shadows of his past, Xera wandered the stars in search of sanctuary, his heart aching for the warmth of companionship amidst the cold expanse of the cosmos.
As fate would have it, the meeting of Phoenix Sharpmoon and Xera Silverclaw would herald a new chapter in their respective journeys—a bond forged in defiance of fate, tempered by adversity, and illuminated by the flickering light of hope amidst the darkness that threatened to consume them both.
As the stars cast their ethereal glow upon the desolate landscape, Phoenix Sharpmoon stood before the holographic display, studying the coordinates that flickered into existence. Each pulsating point marked a potential threat, a lingering shadow cast by the ever-encroaching presence of the Soul Legion Empire.
Their orders were clear: Phoenix was to embark on this mission alone, a solitary figure tasked with the daunting challenge of retrieving the fugitive known as Xera Silverclaw. Despite the risks, there was no room for hesitation—the safety of both realms and the delicate balance of power hung in the balance.
For too long, Xera had roamed unchecked, a lone wolf pursued by the relentless hounds of tyranny. But now, the scales had tipped, the balance of power shifting in favor of the Legion. Reports of skirmishes and disturbances had escalated in recent weeks, signs that Xera's struggle against his pursuers was nearing its breaking point. It was only a matter of time before the Legion closed in, their grip tightening around their elusive quarry.
With a sense of urgency weighing heavily upon their shoulders, Phoenix steeled themselves for the daunting task ahead. Though they were accustomed to leading Squad 637 into battle, this mission would test the limits of their skills and their resolve like never before.
"Listen up," Phoenix's voice echoed through the dimly lit chamber, addressing the members of their team. "I've been assigned a solo mission to retrieve Xera Silverclaw. The fate of our realms depends on it."
Their words were met with a mixture of concern and determination, the gravity of the situation not lost on any of them. For Xera Silverclaw was no ordinary fugitive—he was a living weapon, a force of nature unto himself.
With their orders in hand and their resolve steeled, Phoenix embarked on their journey, their path set ablaze by the flickering light of uncertainty. For in the depths of the unknown, amidst the chaos of the cosmos, the meeting of Phoenix Sharpmoon and Xera Silverclaw would herald a convergence of destinies—a collision of worlds destined to shape the fate of the universe itself.
Amidst the swirling sands of a distant desert world, Xera Silverclaw moved with a sense of cautious urgency, his senses keenly attuned to the shifting dunes and the scorching sun overhead. The relentless heat bore down upon him, a constant reminder of the harsh realities of his nomadic existence.
But despite the unforgiving landscape, Xera's thoughts were consumed by a sense of unease—a lingering shadow cast by the ever-present threat of the Soul Legion Empire. For too long, he had evaded their grasp, his psychic abilities serving as both a shield and a beacon in the endless expanse of the cosmos.
Yet now, the tendrils of fate had begun to tighten around him, their grip growing ever more suffocating with each passing moment. Reports of Legion scouts closing in on his location had reached his ears, a grim reminder of the dangers that lurked just beyond the horizon.
As he traversed the shifting sands in search of sanctuary, Xera couldn't shake the feeling of being hunted—a lone predator pursued by unseen forces hellbent on his capture. Though his heart yearned for companionship, the scars of his past had left him wary of forming attachments, lest they become yet another casualty in his ongoing struggle for survival.
But amidst the turmoil of his thoughts, a faint glimmer of hope flickered in the desert haze—a distant echo of a presence drawing nearer with each passing moment. Though he could not yet discern its nature, Xera couldn't shake the feeling that his fate was about to collide with another, setting into motion a chain of events that would shape the course of his destiny forever.
With a silent prayer to the desert winds, Xera braced himself for the inevitable confrontation that lay ahead, his heart heavy with the weight of uncertainty and the promise of a future yet unwritten.
As the scorching sun beat down upon the barren landscape, Xera Silverclaw felt the hairs on the back of his neck bristle—a telltale sign that danger was imminent. With a wary glance over his shoulder, he spotted the telltale shimmer of heat distortion on the horizon, signaling the approach of Soul Legion soldiers.
Without hesitation, Xera summoned forth the raw power of his psychic abilities, his eyes glowing with an otherworldly intensity as he prepared to face his assailants. With a wave of his hand, he sent a telekinetic blast rippling through the air, scattering the sands in all directions as it collided with the advancing Legion forces.
But the soldiers were relentless, their ranks bolstered by the relentless pursuit of their quarry. As they closed in on Xera's position, they unleashed a barrage of energy weapons, the searing blasts sizzling through the air with deadly accuracy.
Undeterred, Xera danced through the chaos, his movements fluid and graceful as he deftly evaded each incoming attack. With a fierce determination burning in his eyes, he called upon the depths of his psychic power, weaving intricate illusions to confound his enemies and turn their own weapons against them.
The desert echoed with the sound of battle—a cacophony of shouts and screams mingled with the crackle of energy weapons and the roar of the wind. Amidst the chaos, Xera fought with a ferocity born of desperation, his every movement a testament to his unwavering resolve to protect himself and those he held dear.
But as the battle raged on, Xera knew that he could not hold out forever. With each passing moment, the Legion soldiers closed in, their numbers overwhelming and their determination unyielding. Yet still, he fought on, his spirit unbroken and his resolve unwavering in the face of overwhelming odds.
As the battle reached its crescendo and the Soul Legion soldiers closed in on Xera, the air crackling with energy and tension, a sudden whirlwind of dust and sand erupted on the horizon. Through the haze emerged Phoenix Sharpmoon, their figure a silhouette against the blazing sun as they charged into the fray with all the fury of a tempest unleashed.
With a roar of defiance, Phoenix unleashed a flurry of blows upon the Legion soldiers, their movements a blur of speed and precision as they drove the enemy back with relentless ferocity. Each strike was a testament to their skill and determination, a beacon of hope amidst the chaos of battle.
As the Legion soldiers staggered under the onslaught, Xera felt a surge of relief wash over him, his heart swelling with gratitude for the timely intervention. With renewed vigor, he summoned forth the full extent of his psychic powers, unleashing a wave of telekinetic force that sent the remaining soldiers tumbling to the ground in a heap.
But even as the dust settled and victory seemed within reach, Xera's heart was heavy with uncertainty. For though Phoenix had come to his aid in his hour of need, he could not shake the lingering distrust that gnawed at his soul—a remnant of the scars left by his past encounters with the Legion.
As he moved to leave the battlefield, intent on putting as much distance between himself and the Anomaly Champions as possible, Phoenix stepped forward, their voice cutting through the silence like a blade.
"Wait," they said, their tone firm yet tinged with a hint of urgency. "The Anomaly Champions want you, Xera. They need your help."
The words hung in the air like a weight, a silent reminder of the dangers that lurked just beyond the horizon. For Xera knew all too well the price of power—the sacrifices that had been made in the name of control and domination.
With a heavy heart, he turned to face Phoenix, his eyes betraying the conflict raging within him. "I can't," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I won't be used as a weapon again."
As the tension hung thick in the air, Phoenix Sharpmoon regarded Xera Silverclaw with a mixture of empathy and determination. They understood the depth of Xera's reluctance, the scars of his past etched deep into his soul like ancient runes of suffering and betrayal.
"I understand," Phoenix said softly, their voice carrying the weight of their own painful memories. "But joining Squad 637 isn't about being used as a weapon. It's about making a difference, about standing together against the tyranny of the Soul Legion Empire."
Xera's gaze hardened, his resolve unyielding as he recounted the horrors inflicted upon him by the Legion. With each word, Phoenix felt a pang of guilt gnaw at their heart—a reminder of the atrocities committed in the name of power and control.
But even as Xera spoke of his pain and suffering, Phoenix refused to waver. "I won't pretend to understand what you've been through," they said, their voice steady despite the turmoil raging within them. "But I do know this—we can't let the Legion continue to divide and conquer us. Together, we can fight back."
Xera remained unconvinced, his eyes flashing with a fire born of defiance and fear. "You don't understand," he insisted, his voice tinged with bitterness. "They took everything from me—my freedom, my identity. I won't let them do it again."
But Phoenix refused to give up, their determination unwavering in the face of adversity. "I know what it's like to be used as a weapon," they admitted, their voice tinged with a hint of sorrow. "The Soul Legion tried to turn me into something I'm not—a puppet to dance to their tune."
As they spoke, Phoenix's mind drifted back to the Luminary experiment, the memories still fresh in their mind despite the passage of centuries. They remembered the pain of the Aetherbloom coursing through their veins, the rage of the Demondrake form burning within them like a raging inferno.
"It's true," they continued, their voice tinged with a sense of resignation. "The experiments brought out a darkness within me—a power I never asked for, a burden I never wanted to bear. But I refuse to let it define me. We have the power to choose our own destiny, Xera. Together, we can make a difference."
For a moment, there was silence—a tense pause as Xera weighed his options, his gaze locked with Phoenix's in a silent battle of wills. And then, with a heavy sigh, he nodded, his heart heavy with uncertainty but his spirit unbroken.
"Alright," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I'll join your squad. But know this, Phoenix—I won't be your pawn. I'll fight for what's right, but I won't let anyone control me ever again."
And as Phoenix extended a hand in friendship, a silent promise of solidarity and support, they knew that the road ahead would be long and fraught with danger. But together, as comrades-in-arms and allies in the struggle against tyranny, they would face whatever challenges awaited them with courage and determination, their bond forged in the crucible of adversity and strengthened by the light of hope.
Several hours passed, the artificial lights of the Space Station hubworld casting a soft glow as Phoenix Sharpmoon convened Squad 637 for an important announcement. The members gathered around in one of the station's meeting rooms, their faces etched with a mixture of anticipation and curiosity, as Phoenix's words hung heavy in the air.
"As of today, the Anomaly Champions has a new member in training," Phoenix declared, their voice carrying the weight of authority. "Specifically for Squad 637."
A murmur of interest rippled through the group, but among them, Zayne Slayer's expression remained stoic, his eyes narrowed with suspicion. As Phoenix's rival, Zayne had long harbored ambitions of joining the Anomaly Champions, his every action driven by a relentless pursuit of perfection.
"For starters," Zayne began, his tone laced with incredulity, "Phoenix, you're a rookie. What makes you think you have the right to make decisions like this?"
But before he could finish, Phoenix met his gaze with a steely resolve, their voice firm and unwavering. "I may be new to the Anomaly Champions, Zayne, but I've proven myself capable of leading Squad 637. Xera brings unique skills to the table, and I won't hesitate to utilize them for the benefit of our mission."
The tension between them crackled like electricity in the air, a silent testament to the rivalry that simmered beneath the surface. Yet despite their differences, Phoenix remained resolute in their decision, their confidence unshaken by Zayne's skepticism.
"Our decision to add Xera to Squad 637 is final," Phoenix continued, their voice cutting through the tension like a blade. "I expect each of you to treat him with the respect and camaraderie that he deserves." Phoenix turns and leaves the room to go and watch over Xera’s training. The weight of his words echoing in the room. Zayne being shaken by them and folds his arms.
As the days turned into weeks and the weeks into months, Squad 637 embarked on countless missions, their bonds forged in the crucible of battle and adversity. Among them, Phoenix Sharpmoon and Xera Silverclaw found solace in each other's company, their shared experiences drawing them ever closer with each passing day.
Though their relationship had yet to blossom into something more, there was an undeniable bond between them—a connection born of trust, understanding, and shared hardship. Together, they found strength in each other's presence, their hearts intertwined in a silent pact of solidarity.
As time went on, Xera's presence within the squad became an integral part of their dynamic. Despite Zayne's lingering skepticism, he found himself welcomed by the rest of the team with open arms. He shared quiet moments with Phoenix, their conversations a source of comfort amidst the chaos of their missions. He found a confidante in Sin, her stoic demeanor belying a warmth and kindness that resonated with him deeply. He laughed and joked with Nexray, his infectious energy bringing a sense of levity to even the most dire situations. And he looked up to Commander Orion, his mentor and boss, as a guiding light in the darkness that surrounded them.
Yet despite his growing rapport with the rest of the team, Zayne remained distant, his skepticism and resentment lingering like a shadow over their interactions. Though he found solace in the camaraderie of his fellow teammates, he couldn't shake the feeling of being an outsider—a lone wolf amidst a pack of allies.
As the weeks passed, the bond between Phoenix Sharpmoon and Xera Silverclaw deepened, transcending the boundaries of mere comradeship. They shared their fears, hopes, and dreams with each other, their conversations a sanctuary amidst the chaos of their missions. Though their relationship had yet to evolve into something more, there was an unspoken understanding between them—a silent pact forged in the crucible of their shared experiences.
Meanwhile, Zayne Slayer watched from the sidelines, his skepticism simmering beneath the surface like a dormant volcano. As he observed the growing closeness between Phoenix and Xera, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy and resentment gnawing at his heart. In his mind, the lines between leadership and personal relationships had become blurred, a dangerous precedent that threatened to undermine the integrity of their mission.
Confronting Phoenix one day in private, Zayne voiced his concerns with a mixture of frustration and defiance. "Phoenix, I have to ask," he began, his tone laced with skepticism, "how close are you getting to Xera?"
Phoenix met Zayne's gaze with a steady resolve, their expression unwavering. "Zayne, our relationship with Xera is strictly professional," they replied, their voice firm and unwavering. "As leader of Squad 637, it's my duty to remain unbiased and impartial, regardless of any personal feelings I may have."
Zayne's brow furrowed with skepticism, but he couldn't deny the sincerity in Phoenix's words. Though he harbored doubts and reservations about their burgeoning relationship, he knew that he had to trust in Phoenix's judgment and leadership.
With a nod of understanding, Zayne stepped back, his reservations momentarily quelled by Phoenix's unwavering commitment to duty and integrity. And as they returned to the task at hand, the bonds of trust and camaraderie that bound Squad 637 together grew stronger with each passing day—a testament to the resilience of their spirit and the unbreakable bonds of their shared journey.
As tensions simmered within Squad 637, Zayne Slayer's incredulity towards the bond forming between Phoenix Sharpmoon and Xera Silverclaw reached a boiling point. Viewing their closeness as a breach of regulations, Zayne couldn't shake the worry that their personal connection might compromise the integrity of their mission. His skepticism festered like a wound, driving a wedge between him and his fellow teammates.
Unable to keep his concerns bottled up any longer, Zayne sought out Phoenix in private, their conversation escalating into a heated argument. "Phoenix, you can't seriously expect me to believe that your bond with Xera isn't against regulations," Zayne protested, his voice tinged with frustration. "As leader, you should know better than to let personal feelings cloud your judgment."
But Phoenix met Zayne's accusations with a calm resolve, their eyes burning with conviction. "Zayne, our bond with Xera is a source of strength, not weakness," they countered, their voice unwavering. "Regulations are meant to keep us safe, but they shouldn't dictate who we can form meaningful connections with. We're stronger together than we are apart."
Their words struck a chord with Zayne, his ego momentarily silenced by the force of Phoenix's conviction. As he grappled with the weight of their argument, Commander Orion entered the room, their presence commanding attention.
"Is there a problem here?" Orion inquired, their gaze sharp and penetrating.
Zayne hesitated, his resolve wavering under the weight of their leader's scrutiny. "I...I was just expressing my concerns about Phoenix's bond with Xera," he admitted, his voice faltering.
But instead of reprimanding Zayne, Orion regarded Phoenix with a thoughtful expression. "I trust your judgment, Phoenix," they said, their words carrying the weight of authority. "If you believe that your bond with Xera strengthens the team, then I have no objections."
Relief washed over Zayne as he realized the error of his ways. In that moment, he made a conscious choice to set aside his ego and accept Phoenix as their leader, trusting in their judgment and leadership. From that day forward, he resolved to support Phoenix wholeheartedly, enhancing their authority by pointing out any blind spots and weaknesses they might have.
As the days turned into weeks and the bond between Phoenix Sharpmoon and Xera Silverclaw continued to deepen, a subtle shift began to take place between them—a shift that blossomed into something more than mere comradeship.
One evening, during a rare moment of respite from their duties, Phoenix found themselves unable to shake the feeling of anticipation that had been building within them. With a nervous yet determined resolve, they approached Xera, their heart pounding in their chest.
"Xera," Phoenix began, their voice tinged with uncertainty, "would you...would you like to go out on a date with me?"
To their relief, Xera's response was one of warmth and enthusiasm, his eyes lighting up with a smile. "I'd love to," he replied, his voice filled with genuine excitement.
And so, on their next off day, Phoenix and Xera ventured out into the bustling streets of the Space Station hubworld, their destination set on a quaint little restaurant that had caught their eye.
Over dinner, they laughed and talked, their conversation flowing effortlessly as they shared stories and exchanged anecdotes. Despite the chaos of their lives as members of Squad 637, in that moment, they were simply two souls drawn together by the promise of something beautiful.
After dinner, they decided to catch a movie—a pulse-pounding action flick that had been generating buzz throughout the station. As they settled into their seats, Phoenix couldn't help but steal glances at Xera, their heart fluttering with anticipation.
As the movie played out before them, they found themselves drawn into the thrilling world on the screen, their laughter mingling with the sounds of explosions and gunfire. And in the darkness of the theater, Phoenix reached out to take Xera's hand, their fingers intertwining in a silent affirmation of their newfound connection.
As the credits rolled and the lights came up, Phoenix and Xera emerged from the theater with smiles on their faces, their hearts light and their spirits buoyed by the magic of the evening.
For in that moment, amidst the chaos and uncertainty of their lives, they had found solace in each other's presence—a beacon of light amidst the darkness that threatened to engulf them all. And as they walked hand in hand through the bustling streets of the Space Station hubworld, they knew that no matter what trials lay ahead, they would face them together, united in their love and their shared destiny.
As Phoenix and Xera arrived at Phoenix's house, the air between them crackled with anticipation, their hearts pounding in their chests as they stepped through the threshold into the familiar surroundings of Phoenix's abode.
With each passing moment, the romantic tension between them grew more palpable, the air thick with the promise of something more. As they settled into the comfort of Phoenix's home, they found themselves drawn to each other like magnets, their gazes locking in a silent exchange of desire and longing.
Unable to resist the pull of their mutual attraction any longer, Phoenix took Xera's hand in theirs, their touch sending a shiver down their spine. Wordlessly, they led Xera to their room, the anticipation building with each step they took.
As they entered the sanctuary of Phoenix's bedroom, the atmosphere was electric with possibility, the air charged with the heat of their desire. Without a word, Phoenix closed the door behind them, their eyes locking with Xera's in a silent declaration of intent.
And then, in a flurry of movement and passion, they came together in a heated embrace, their lips meeting in a fervent kiss that set their souls ablaze with longing. In that moment, there was no past, no future—only the raw, unbridled intensity of their love, igniting like a flame in the darkness.
As they melted into each other's arms, the world outside faded into insignificance, lost in the haze of their shared ecstasy. For in that moment, amidst the tangled sheets of Phoenix's bed, they found solace in each other's embrace—a sanctuary of love and desire that transcended the boundaries of time and space.
And as they surrendered to the passion that burned within them, their bodies entwined in a dance as old as time itself, they knew that they had found something truly special—a love that would endure the trials and tribulations of their journey, and emerge stronger and more resilient than ever before.
As the night stretched on, time seemed to stand still within the confines of Phoenix's bedroom. In the intimate embrace of their passion, Phoenix and Xera lost themselves in each other, their bodies moving in perfect harmony as they explored the depths of their desire.
Their kisses grew more fervent, their touches more urgent, as the flames of their passion burned ever brighter. Each caress was a testament to the depth of their connection, a silent declaration of their love and longing.
Wrapped in each other's arms, they surrendered to the ecstasy of the moment, their bodies entwined in a dance of desire that seemed to transcend the boundaries of time and space. In the hushed stillness of the night, they whispered words of love and devotion, their voices a symphony of passion that echoed in the darkness.
And as the first light of dawn began to creep through the curtains, casting a soft glow upon their entwined forms, Phoenix and Xera lay together in the aftermath of their love, their hearts beating as one in the quiet serenity of the early morning hours.
As the morning sun cast its golden rays through the window, Phoenix and Xera stirred from their slumber, their bodies still entwined in the warmth of their love. With a contented sigh, they exchanged tender kisses, their hearts overflowing with a sense of peace and contentment.
With a shared smile, they rose from the bed, their movements synchronized in perfect harmony. As they made their way to the kitchen, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and sizzling bacon filled the air, a tantalizing invitation to start the day.
Side by side, they worked together to prepare breakfast, their movements fluid and effortless as they danced around each other in the small confines of the kitchen. Phoenix cracked eggs into a frying pan, while Xera expertly flipped pancakes on the griddle, their laughter mingling with the sizzle of cooking food.
With each passing moment, their bond grew stronger, their shared moments of domestic bliss a testament to the depth of their love. As they set the table and plated the food, they exchanged knowing glances and affectionate smiles, their hearts overflowing with joy.
In the days that followed, Phoenix and Xera's love continued to blossom, their bond growing stronger with each passing moment. Together, they faced the challenges that lay ahead with unwavering determination and unwavering devotion, their hearts united in a shared purpose and a shared destiny.
As their relationship deepened, they found solace in each other's arms, drawing strength from the love that burned brightly between them. With each passing day, their love grew deeper and more profound, a beacon of hope amidst the darkness that threatened to engulf them all.
And so, as they stood together on the precipice of a new dawn, Phoenix and Xera knew that their love was the most powerful weapon they possessed—a force that could overcome any obstacle and conquer any foe.
With hearts full of hope and eyes filled with dreams, they embarked on a new chapter of their journey, their hands intertwined as they faced the future together, united in love and bound by destiny.
And as they looked out upon the horizon, they knew that no matter what trials lay ahead, they would face them together, hand in hand, their love shining like a beacon in the darkness, guiding them towards a future filled with promise and possibility.
For in each other's arms, they had found their home—a sanctuary of love and acceptance that would sustain them through all the challenges and tribulations of their journey.
And as they embraced each other with a love that knew no bounds, they knew that their happy ending was just the beginning of a new adventure—one that they would face together, side by side, for all eternity.

"Eclipse stands as the embodiment of contradiction and unity in the vast expanse of the Lands Between, where the veil between light and dark is a gossamer thread. Born of the same cloth as the Watchman, Harbinger, and Sentinel, Eclipse is the convergence of their essences, where their paths intersect and diverge in a dance of destiny.
Once a Tarnished, untouched by the extremes of fate, Eclipse found his awakening in the balance of the Watchman, the Harbinger's fury, and the Sentinel's vision. He is the amalgamation of their strengths, the bearer of their burdens, and the mirror of their mysteries.
"The equilibrium of forces is the harbinger of true power, and in its embrace lies the purpose of all existence," whispers the wind that trails in Eclipse's wake, a synthesis of doctrines that guide his every step. He is the guardian of the interstitial, the keeper of the flames of creation and destruction, the arbiter of the twilight that blankets the Lands Between.
Eclipse's odyssey is one that charts through the aftermath of the Shattering, a journey marked by the resonance of fallen demigods and the whispers of nascent powers. In his heart lies the Watchman's quest for understanding, in his hand the Harbinger's flame of transformation, and in his eyes the Sentinel's gaze that pierces the veil of night to herald the dawn.
Eclipse strides with a silent resolve through the remnants of chaos and the whispers of an age of equilibrium. His is not the path of domination or destruction but one of transcendence—a pursuit to unify the fragments of a fractured realm and to weave a new destiny from the threads of old.
The legacy of the Tarnished runs deep within his veins, yet Eclipse is unbound by their past, forging instead a future that neither begins anew nor ends in ashes. He is the custodian of balance, ensuring that the intricate scales of existence never tip too far into the abyss of oblivion or ascend into the blinding arrogance of the divine.
As the Age of Stars unfolds its celestial tapestry above, Eclipse finds his companions in the shadows of history and the light of potential futures. With Ranni the Witch and the echoes of the Carian lineage at his side, he steps beyond the threshold of the known, his saga woven into the very cosmos that cradles the Lands Between.
Eclipse, the silent guardian, the fiery Harbinger, the wise Sentinel—stands as a legend not to be spoken but to be felt, a presence that guides the world not toward an end but along a path of unending cycle. In him resides the sword of night and flame, a beacon of balance that casts its glow upon the intricate dance of existence. His story, an epic etched in the annals of time, speaks of a force that is both the Harbinger of doom and the herald of salvation.
In the realm where fate hangs in the balance and the tides of power ebb and flow, Eclipse embodies the eternal watch. He is the convergence of paradox, the embodiment of the Lands Between, holding dominion over the twilight where all warriors find their rest, where all legends reach their crescendo, and where all tales find their truth.
And so, the tale of Eclipse weaves through the ages. It is a symphony of stars and shadows, fire and foresight, a legend whispered on the winds of the Lands Between. Eclipse is all and none, the unity of divergent paths, the avatar of the world's ever-turning wheel, and the guardian of twilight's gate."
