pairing: roman torchwick x gn!reader

summary: during a heist, you run into a fellow criminal. but that one doesn't seem as bad as the others...

“i hadn't expected to run into someone here of all places~!”

the voice of a man echoed through the almost empty building that you had broken into, making you flinch. in a matter of seconds, you had pulled your gun and whipped around, glaring at the man the voice belonged to. but the redhead in front of you only smiled smugly.

“lower your weapon, friend. i am on your side!”

the man slowly approached you, until he grabbed your weapon and slowly pushed it down. you hesitated, but ended up putting it back into its holster.

“who are you?”

your question made the man chuckle.

“just a fellow thief, after the same good as you, i suppose~” he said. “but if you're asking for a name, it's roman torchwick”

roman seemed overly confident, giving away his name to a stranger, a fellow criminal, who he had just caught breaking into a building. he really must believe he'd never get caught, even with his name and face revealed.

“well then, roman… i was here first, so i hate to inform you that you'll have to go home empty handed~”

you huffed at the man and turned away. you couldn't waste any more time chit chatting with that guy. you could get caught any minute and you didn't plan on testing your luck!

“i don't want to fight you, but i'm not leaving empty handed. soo, how about we split the loot?”

you hesitated at his request. but you knew you couldn't carry everything out of here by yourself. perhaps, letting him have some of the loot wouldn't be so bad.

“fine, but if you end up betraying me, you'll live to regret it–!”

roman chuckled and nodded as you warned him.

“i would never betray a fellow thief. especially not one as generous as you, my friend~!”

A brief moment of static across most Apricus broadcasting stations gives way to a skull & crossbones style emblem, the skull seems to be wearing a bowler hat, the crossbones are replaced with canes.

An image finally appears. A well dressed individual is standing on the deck of a ship surrounded by his crew.

“Greetings Apricus, pardon this brief interruption. I promise we’ll return you to your usual programming shortly.”

“I’m sure most of you know who I am by now, but for those of you who have been living under a rock, allow me to introduce myself. You may call me Torchwick. As the Navy could tell you, I am one of the five pirate lords ruling over your so called “Great Seas”.”

“I’ve been paying close attention to the quite frankly astounding amount of you heading out to open water in search of treasure. Far be it for me to attempt to dissuade you but just know..the seas hold many dangers. Think carefully before boarding a ship and setting sail..”

“That being said..I do have something special to offer some lucky individual residing in your city.” The camera shows a large treasure chest, Torchwick kicks it open revealing gold, jewels, and many other valuables. “Somewhere in Apricus there is a particular compass. Not any old ordinary compass mind you..a special one.”

“You’ll currently find it spinning with no way to stop it. Quite odd don’t you think? In any case I have an offer for you. Bring me the compass and I’ll reward you handsomely. Everything in this chest, and more will be yours.”

“Now I do suggest you make the right choice. I’m not the only one in search of the compass, and some of the others are far less likely to make a deal. So, if you have what I want..there’s a specific bar somewhere in your city..go there and you’ll find someone who will tell you the information you need. What’s the bar called? Well I’m sure you can figure that out..can’t have just anyone popping in now can we.”

“Do be quick about it, if one of the others loses their patience they will come looking for you..in which case your only course of action would be..”

“RUN! HAHAHAHAHA”

“We now return you to your regularly scheduled program.”

The fact that NONE of the ppl neo made illusions of would actually blame ruby (except Ironwood I think)

Like. Pyrrha would break seeing an illusion of herself beat down ruby. She KNEW she was going to die during the fall and she'd NEVER blame ruby

Penny would've been FURIOUS at neo for using her against her best friend bc she CHOSE to pass on the maiden powers to winter

Ozpin would've absolutely reassured ruby time and time again that NOTHING is her fault. That she did the best she could. And the fact that his illusions words also applies to how he sees himself... ouch

Even ROMAN wouldn't have blamed ruby! He KNEW he was the bad guy! He knew ruby was just trying to stop him and help people! And frankly he'd be annoyed for ruby taking ANY credit lol

Location: A small “town” located on a small island a ways away from Apricus.

True to their word, the pirates had been waiting and when the two men arrived they simply instructed for them to follow in their ship. They docked and motioned for the others to do the same. One of the pirates pointed to the small town.

It seemed a place populated entirely by pirates or their crew..which seemed no surprise. One of them opened the door to the tavern and motioned to a man sitting near the bar.

“So you two must be the ones with the compass. Care for a drink?” There were a few chests of what seemed to be tressure on either side of him. Perhaps the payment for said compass.
