Can you tell us a little about Summoning Trouble? Who is your favorite secondary character? And what is your favorite location?
Omg I CAN. (And share some art since I’ve been redesigning the cast!). It’s a cozy fantasy sent in a modern day setting but with magic.
Aaand cut time cause this got long oops
Summoning Trouble is the story of a small magical anomaly investigation agency called Thorn Street Investigations. The two pov characters, Wallace and David, run it together with their social media manager, Val.
They usually are dealing with remnants - leftover magic that has gained sentience and it’s mad about it. They trap it and purge it. Sometimes it’s an infestation of pixies or a slime colony.
David has a master’s degree in magical biology and is also insane, so he usually is doing all of the field work. He’s a summoner, but he does have a magic deficiency, so he has a little moth dragon named Thistle that keeps on top of it.
Tumblr media
Wallace is half water elemental! He had a degree in environmental science and is very good at the research aspect of things. He cannot do any magic at all, but he can manipulate water. This is him, his hair is magic and glowy and very blue
Tumblr media
Since David is limited in what he can do magic wise outside of summons and Wallace is like bringing a firehose to a water gun fight, they hire Lin at the beginning of the story. Lin is Val’s friend! He’s very anxious and reserved, but very sweet. He’s also a bit of a secret powerhouse.
Tumblr media
He ties his hair back when it’s serious business time.
Immediately after they hire Lin, everything goes wild. Someone is trying to summon a demon (a war machine that’s been sealed somewhere below the city - Wallace is obsessed). David’s mentor retires, leaving him as the summoner of the area (a go between for magical creatures and magic users, but mostly it’s fishing house griffins out of the gutter sort of thing).
My favorite secondary character is Clarence! He owns The Sleeping Basilisk, the potion shop across the street from all of the problems happening. He’s kind of a dork and loves dad jokes. Plus he has a pet mini basilisk.
Favorite location so far is the aquarium cause…magic aquarium hello. But also Clarence’s potion shop. But there are a lot more locations in book 2 and probably 3! (Idk how many books I’ll write, I’m just vibing)
Thanks so much for the ask!!!

oh HELLO I can’t resist asking about your stardew valley au??????? I’m interested in learning anything (and everything) about it
HELLO oh god the stardew valley au!!!! initial disclaimer that i am a little obsessed with stardew valley. secondary disclaimer that this wip is still in the phase where i'm a little too set on recreating the exact conditions of the stardew setup rather than the vibe, but i'm getting around to relaxing my criteria
basis of the au is royal ot3 but there are a couple of other things going on :D basically daud decides to retire (he bought the farm..... oh man i could make a dumb pun out of that) and i dunno how he gets a hold of the farm but he does. it's a shitty little shack with terrible plumbing and a terrible electric setup (OH I SHOULD HAVE AN ELECTRICIAN) but it's lost in the middle of a huge overgrown field on the edge of a small to middling wood and no neighbors for at least a few miles so he likes it. (the setting would be similar, the mountains and the river and such, though i'm debating the beach)
despite his taciturn grunting whenever he's asked a question the locals are DETERMINED to get to know him. and he can't say he completely hates the company of two of them in particular: the rancher from south of him, on the town edge of the woods, and her husband who helps her with the animals. he doesn't know what the guy used to do, it's pretty clear he's more of a house husband than anything specific. also shit the rancher JACKED
then the cast and crew of the rest of the town start to sneak into his good graces as well -- the carpenter living with his niece in the foothills, who's friendly and fixes up the leaky walls for little more than equal help in exchange, the kids running around who come stare at him being terrible at farming from over his fence, the bartender who's got a weirdly familiar face (and given daud's line of work that's not necessarily a good sign)..... and then things start getting weirder, and he finds out there are things in the woods, too, eager to be friends.
cue whalers making a trickster nuisance of themselves
BUT YEAH i've got ideas for a number of characters from D1 and D2 (the main trio obvs, also geoff and callista, paolo and mindy -- she gets to be the blacksmith's apprentice, and the blacksmith is aramis, i think my recent one had delilah and breanna in there with breanna as museum curator -- might futz with that, she could have a personal collection, this isn't the game -- and delilah as a traveler who comes through often.... want to include wallace and pendleton but still unsure how, something about disinheritance and wallace being layed off when the family started getting too poor to maintain servants...... anyway the thoughts are ongoing

March TBR/W.
Every book, audiobook, tv show and movie I want to consume in March 2021.
-Hence ‘TBR/W’ - to-be-read/watched.
I’m not usually a fan of pre-planning my media for the month - I plan out all my media obsessively, but doing it by month seems a little too much like setting deadlines for my taste, and I’m sure I’ll somehow manage to turn watching tv into a chore. Regardless, it’s worth a shot, so this is going to be a rough guide - I’m going to pick four of each category, one per week, because I’d rather underestimate and surpass than overestimate and have to defer things to the next month. So let’s go.
Books
Tumblr media
1. Skyward and 2. Starsight by Brandon Sanderson
Skyward is set in a future where the human race is on the verge of extinction, trapped on a planet constantly attacked by alien warriors. Spensa, a teenage girl stuck on the planet, wants to be a pilot, but it seems far-off. Then, she finds the wreckage of a ship that appears to have a soul, and she must figure out how to repair it, and persuade it to help her navigate flight school.
In truth, I mainly want to read this because of how highly it’s been praised by Hailey in Bookland on YouTube. I actually tried reading Sanderson’s Mistborn series a couple years ago, and just didn’t click with it. I love fantasy, but I can pretty confidently say epic fantasy just isn’t for me. However, Sanderson’s work is adored by many, and Skyward and its sequel Starsight appeal so much more to me, and I can’t wait to get to them.
Tumblr media
3. House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J Maas
This is Maas’s first technically-adult book; Throne of Glass is young adult, ACOTAR being classed either as young or new adult. I’ve been a fan of Maas for a long time, and, though I enjoy her books less now than I have in the past due to how seriously they tend to take themselves, I’d still love to read this one. Where her previous series were both fantasies, this sits somewhere between that and a sci-fi, but I can’t say as-of-yet what I think, because I haven’t read it yet.
Bryce Quinlan finds herself investigating her friends’ deaths in an attempt to avenge them after they were taken from her by a demon. Hunt Athalar is a Fallen angel, enslaved by Archangels, forced to assassinate their enemies, when he’s offered a deal to assist Bryce in exchange for his freedom.
Tumblr media
4. Scythe by Neal Shusterman
I listened to this as an audiobook in 2019 as part of BookTuber Book Roast’s Magical Readathon, and didn’t hugely get along with it in truth. The audiobook was excellent as an audiobook, but the story Ian’s I just didn’t really vibe. I think I just want to like this book, so I think it’s worth a reread to see if my opinion changes.
This follows Citra and Rowan, a reluctant pair of apprentice Scythes - in a utopian future where humanity has the means to live forever, it is the job of the Scythes to control the population by essentially reaping the souls of those they choose to die. Neither Citra or Rowan want it, but I don’t remember enough about this book to say any more.
Audiobooks
Tumblr media
1. Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
This is the last book in the Hunger Games trilogy, and you either already know what this series is about, or you’ve been living under a rock for the last thirteen years. I read this book for the first time nearly seven years ago, and it’s stuck with me. It sent me into a phase of only reading dystopian books (The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken was part of this, and was the series that really got me into reading), but this was the main one that stuck with me.
It contains a powerful message about capitalism and discrimination, and this is the second time I’ve listened to the audiobooks, though the god-only-knows-what time I’ve read the series. I listened to The Hunger Games and Catching Fire in February, which automatically puts this on my to-listen for March.
Tumblr media
2. Ghosts of the Shadow Market by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson, Kelly Link and Robin Wasserman
This is a novella bind-up set in the Shadowhunters world, that I would imagine has quite a bit to do with the Shadow Market, an aspect of the Downworld introduced in The Dark Artifices, which I finished in January.
In truth, I’m mainly planning to listen to this audiobook because it’s the only Shadowhunters novella bind-up with an audiobook, and I’d just rather read additions to the main Shadowhunters series in this format rather than physically.
Tumblr media
3. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins
This is a Hunger Games prequel that was released early last year, and I just wasn’t going to read it. I heard several reviews, the general consensus of which was basically that it’s not as good as the trilogy and is somewhat unnecessary, but, in truth, my curiosity’s got the better of me, especially since I started listening to the trilogy’s audiobooks again.
This prequel follows Coriolanus Snow as a mentor in the Games before he became President of Panem and the wonderful villain of the original trilogy.
Tumblr media
4. Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia
I mentioned this in my physical TBR post a couple weeks ago, but have decided to listen to the audiobook instead. A few weeks ago, I’d started to run out of audiobooks I wanted to listen to, and didn’t want to read anything on my regular TBR in this format, including this book. But, I went through a load of audiobook recommendations, and this was one of them, so it joined my to-listen.
I’m not hugely into contemporary books, but I’ve wanted to get more into the genre for a while, and this was the first one to join my TBR.
This novel follows Eliza Mirk, your typical high school outcast, who publishes a hugely popular web comic under the pseudonym LadyConstellation. Then Wallace Warland, the biggest fanfic writer of her comic transfers to her school and begins to draw her out of her shell.
TV Shows
Before I go into my list, I’d like to mention that I am currently watching WandaVision and am definitely planning to watch Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+, but both come out on a weekly basis, so aren’t being included on this list. Also, I’ve been watching way too much YouTube recently, so I’m not sure I’ll get through all of these this month, especially since I’m watching the Arrowverse shows, which have such long seasons.
Tumblr media
1. Love, Victor Season 1
This Love, Simon spin-off follows a character named Victor at Creekwood (I think that’s the name?) High School. I saw Love, Simon twice in cinemas when it was released, and, miraculously, it made me cry. I love that movie.
This series was released last year on Hulu, which is only available in the US, but as of February 23rd, it’s one of the shows that came to Disney+ as part of Star.
Tumblr media
2. The Flash Season 1
As mentioned, I’ve started watching the DC Arrowverse shows. I watch tv shows through alternating seasons - as in, I watch season 1 of show A, then season 1 of show B, then 2 of A, etc., then when I finish one, I start watching show C - but I’m treating the Arrowverse as one show (even though it isn’t) so it’s not the only thing I’m watching. So this is technically Arrowverse S3, preceded by Arrow S1+2 (though I haven’t actually started S2 as of writing this because of how much YouTube I’ve been watching, so I’ll be finishing that first).
I genuinely don’t know that much about most DC superheroes, Flash included, but I’m going into this having been assured it takes itself less goddamn seriously than Arrow. It’s my sister’s favourite Arrowverse show, and I can’t wait.
Tumblr media
3. Dare Me Season 1
I added this Netflix show to my watchlist when it came out, and my basic understanding is that it focuses on the cheerleaders at a high school, and begins when a new coach arrives. It focuses on the psychological damage behind competitive cheerleading, and I’m not convinced I’m going to love it, but I think it’s worth a shot.
Tumblr media
4. Arrow Season 3
I’m so confused by this poster. This is specifically the season 3 poster, and I’m so confused, but I’m sure it’ll make more sense when I watch the season.
I explained the weird way I’m watching Arrowverse (named as such because Arrow was the first show in it) already, but Arrow follows Oliver Queen, the son of one of the billionaires of Starling City upon his return after being stuck for five years on an island when a cruise ship carrying him and his father sunk. His father left him with a list of names of the people ‘corrupting’ the city, and Oliver takes it upon himself to assume a vigilante identity and take them down.
Movies
I’m not a huge movie-watcher, but I end up compiling so many to watch that, to ensure I get round to them, I watch a movie every time I finish a tv show season. I’m also currently re-watching the MCU movies in chronological order.
Tumblr media
1. Instant Family
This is just something that came onto Netflix recently and I thought might be entertaining, and so it joined my list.
This follows a couple who decide to adopt a teenager, only to find out she has two more siblings.
Tumblr media
2. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
This is just a continuation of my MCU re-watch - I love this movie. I love Guardians of the Galaxy, full stop (on another note, I just generally don’t understand why British people call it a full stop and Americans call it a period. Neither name makes particular sense).
Tumblr media
3. Avengers: Age of Ultron
And here we have another continuation of my MCU rewatch. I honestly think this is my favourite Avengers movie, because the whole teams actually together, and Wanda, Scarlet Witch, is introduced - I love her. I really didn’t like Vision until WandaVision came out, though.
Tumblr media
4. Behind The Try: A Try Guys Documentary
Not technically a movie, but still. (Are documentaries movies? I tend to think of them as separate categories, but I guess they’re both movies. Hm.) I’ve been watching the Try Guys for years, which means I need to convince my sister to give me her Google password so I don’t have to pay for this.
I’m probably not going to stick to this list, and even if I do, I’m either going to also consume things not on it, or just not finish it. But, you’ll have to wait for my March wrap-up to find out.

Every Eusine ship rated!
I’ve done this over on my main account @/pkmnsdarkqueen, and I think it’s kinda fun. It’s every ship on the muse from this page rated by my personal opinions. For this account I’ve been slowly working on it since January, and since this is a multimuse it took this long. I hope ya’ll enjoy!
Disclaimers directly below and the list under the cut!
strike through=my side commentary, trying to be funny, usually about ship names italicized=if asked I’d be down to rp it mostly just to see how/it it’d work * by name=I just think it’s a wildly random ship bold=ship name and who in it to help you find a certain ship highlights=they are grouped up, again in case you want to find that one ship
Took out category of Eusine and a protagonist/rival/or companion since they’re all children so it’s a hard no. A few other younger characters fit in the other categories though they’ve been judged no as well for the most part. Some shipped but ONLY in the context of the character being grown up.
Took out category of Eusine with pokemon because pokephelia. In multiship some of them have a pokemon and these have been dubbed as being one of the human’s part pokemon.
ships on ‘never ending romance’ website. Before asked yes mun has other ships she likes that aren’t listed, but Im only focusing on those listed.
Eusine w/ a Villain
Top rated ships: Diamondstud, & Uxorious shipping.
Bottom rated ships: Fanatic, Fixation &  Hoax shipping.
*DiamondstudShipping - Colress & Eusine 5/10 I mean they’re both fabulous dudes who are focused on finding legendaries so I’d give it a fair shot of happening. Then again would Colress be able to put up with Eusine?
FanaticShipping - Eusine & Saturn 0/10 Hehehe, they’d kill each other. (Saturn would kill Eusine)
FixationShipping - Eusine & Giovanni 0/10 Giovanni would kill him let’s be honest.
HoaxShipping - Archer & Eusine 1/10 I.........hm.........yeah don’t really see it too much either as a long term thing. Maybe a hook up?
*UnfortunateShipping - Butch & Eusine 4/10 I mean it’s interesting you got 2 folks who like to show others up, and are fancy bois. Could kinda work I suppose.
UxoriousShipping - Eusine & Hunter J 6/10 And in this corner we have the wild ship that kinda makes sense just make Eusine more crazed. I mean they’re both obsessed with finding legendaries??? So just watch em run around trying to find certain stuff. Not much love there tho
*WorthyShipping - Cyrus & Eusine 4/10 I’m sorry but I do not see Eusine as hitting the ‘worthy’ level on that I mean he’s strictly emotion based tbh. This would be wild though to see.
Eusine w/ a champion
Top rated ships: Regent shipping
Bottom rated ships: Gnomon shipping
AeonShipping - Eusine & Cynthia 0/10 Oh gosh no, how the f is that gonna work? Like bruh I don’t think she’d put up with him.
GnomonShipping - Eusine & Steven Stone 4/10 Gnomo means gnome, so this ship is about gnomes???? Anyway moving on from that def another one night stand scenario.
MantleShipping - Eusine & Lance 4/10 Here we have another one night stand! Seriously just very few people can handle Eusine long term.
*RegentShipping - Alder & Eusine 7/10 Eh Alder did casually shoot his shot at Cynthia so if he did with Eusine def would of at least gone a round. Tho hm long term???? Maybe? I mean Alder has more patience???
SplashShipping - Eusine & Wallace 4/10 Both fabulous, but can they handle each other’s extraneous is the real question.
Eusine w/ an elite
Top rated ships: Ouroboros, and Harker shipping
Bottom rated ships: DarkMagic, MythHunter, and Elitist shipping
DarkMagicShipping - Eusine & Karen -50/10 Hehehehe, no. Yeah no even if Morty wasn’t involved in why Eusine hates her they would soon find a reason to be at each other’s throats.
ElitistShipping - Eusine & Will 1/10 Will would be sick of him pretty soon, or Eusine would be sick of him. If they didn’t chat much before hand maybe 1 night.
HarkerShipping - Eusine & Marshal 7/10 Cuter than some others I will say and I mean Marshal does seem to have more patience than some, and maybe it’d work.
MinaShipping - Eusine & Grimsley 5/10 Oh grims baby boi shipped around. Yeah I could kinda see it running better than some but again 2 dramatic bois, we’ll see how long they can take each other.
*MythHunterShipping - Drake (Orange) & Eusine 1/10 I just want to see em exploring the world trying to find crazy legends and such.
OuroborosShipping - Eusine & Flint (elite) 9/10 Kinda want to see this happen. I just imagine it being the refined boyfriend and messy other boy friend who were originally roommates.
PilgrimageShipping - Bruno & Eusine 3/10 Ye Bruno would have the patience of a saint to handle him but would it be a good relationship?
WellReadShipping - Eusine & Lucian 5/10 Hm, nerd meets fabulous extrovert. Kinda sorta maybe?
(Surprised to see everyone in the Johto league and no Koga)
Eusine w/ a gym leader
Top rated ships: Sacred, Maelstrom, and RagingInferno shipping
Bottom rated ships: Camilla, Sacrosanct, and Broxa shipping
BroxaShipping - Eusine & Winona 0/10 Winona would not put up with this man.
CamillaShipping - Eusine & Sabrina -10/10 Sabrina WOULD NOT put up with this man.
CeladonShipping - Eusine & Erika 3/10 I kinda want to see this in that Eusine can usually get away with his slightly flirty shiz and expects Erika to fall, but she just outright does not and boom he’s like,”but....hm I am intrigued.”
CorruptShipping - Bugsy & Eusine 0/10 No way in heck would Boy Scout and Eusine get along
DropletShipping - Eusine & Misty 2/10 Huh it’d be interesting but also they’d probably just fight alot.
HereticShipping - Eusine & Falkner 6/10 I think the name is funny, and brings up some interesting possibilities in au, but as the same time I kinda see it in the main timeline and wanna see it.
IntertidalZoneShipping - Eusine & Jasmine 0/10 Ye they might ship, but would it be a healthy relationship?
JustinShipping - Eusine & Elesa 0/10 Who is Justin. They would be fashionable together but trying to romance would not work.
MaelstromShipping - Eusine & Volkner 8/10 Ok maybe. Tbh Volkner and Morty have somewhat of the same vibe to me, but Volkener has a bit more sad energy.
MinakaneShipping - Eusine & Whitney 0/10 This is the first time I feel like Eusine would be annoyed and only becasue she’s just a happy ball but like all the time.
*RagingInfernoShipping - Chili & Eusine 7/10 Ok but watch em both get mad and scream like and then like cuddle afterward and both apologize.
RueShipping - Eusine & Candice 0/10 Eusine is bent on finding legendaries and Candice is all protect them. no.
SacredShipping - Eusine & Morty 1000/10 Top for the boi cause they just have alot of character moments, and also they have the same salty chemistry and I love it.
SacrosanctShipping - Eusine & Clair 0/10 Clair would hurt him first before any sparks flew.
SiWongShipping - Byron & Eusine 4/10 Eusine is your dad now Roark. So anyway I think it’s kinda interesting I like the contrast they have with each other but Idk how it’d work together.
TesseractShipping - Brock & Eusine 1/10 Please explain the name to me, are you telling me they’re Avengers now??? So anyway I kinda feel like this wouldn’t happen. Like I mean Brock is a kind soul, and Eusine is kind of a goblin.
WTFEverShipping - Brawly & Eusine 3/10 The name says it all. They’d have a one night stand, Brawly would think it was more and scream that at Eusine who’s confused why he’s mad.
Eusine w/ Professor or assistant to
CrossRegionShipping - Bill & Eusine 3/10 Bill I suppose could work but I feel like things would fall apart when Bill realizes ‘oh you don’t just like suicune in a research sense you’re a bit fanatic.”
***ForelockShipping - Eusine & Professor Sycamore 5/10 .....Ok but if Sycamore was evil maybe? Idk why specifically this, but for some reason I feel like that would vibe??? In general tho naw.
*InvestShipping - Eusine & Professor Rowan 4/10 Naw don’t see this long term but I see it going longer than most.
*LifelongDreamShipping - Eusine & Fennel 9/10 There aren’t too many heterosexual ships I see with Eusine but oddly enough I can see this one. Especially after Eusine lost suicune and they get to talk about what they want from life.
Eusine w/ a minor GAME npc
Top rated ships: Bowtie, and Value shipping
Bottom rated ships: Chaser, and Jinx shipping
*BowtieShipping - Eusine & Juggler Irwin 6/10 You know what ye, let em both be showy but one has the cool ability to juggle.
ChaserShipping - Eusine & Satsuki 2/10 Satsuki is a kimono girl about protecting the legendaries idk if she’d be down with his goal unless you just want to focus on them enjoying the journey of looking.
HarangueShipping - Eusine & Thorton 5/10 I can’t tell if Thorton is a child so that’s weird but for this we’re gonna head cannon he’s an adult. I mean kinda cute I guess with crazy pants McGee energy that Eusine has and in control Thorton. SO eh.
*JinxShipping - Eusine & Palmer 2/10 But Palmer making a hologram suicune? Eh Might be cute, but it’d need more depth than my little cute joke.
MysticPoisonShipping - Eusine & Lucy 3/10 Funny to imagine same energy as Erika, but long term I don’t see it.
PokeWifeShipping - AZ (XY) & Eusine 4/10 Someone please explain, please. I mean it’s a no from me dog, but like maybe in an alternate timeline???
*ValueShipping - Eusine & Riley 6/10 They just wanna go find legendaries. They both have the slight cool vibe and I like it.
Eusine w/ a minor ANIME/MOVIE npc
Top rated ships: Harrow, Thunder, Jones, and LegendQuestShipping/PursueShipping/RavingShipping
Bottom rated ships: 20Questions, FollowMyLeader, and Legato shipping
*20QuestionsShipping - Eusine & Flint (Kanto) 0/10 Ya’ll this is Brock’s dad. Like wut??? Brock I am your dad now. I guess the fandom just sees Eusine with dads/dad bods. what 20 questions are they asking?
*AncientPossessionShipping - King of Pokelantis & Eusine 5/10 ..........yeah if anyone was gonna end up possessed it’d be Eusine. They both want to find a legendary pokemon, but Eusine still has their heart focused on wanting to help the pokemon. Although hm idk but what if the king corrupted Eusine???
FollowMyLeaderShipping - Eusine & Molly Hale 0/10 So this is the child from the movie and I get we see her all grown but still I don’t like this.
ForeignShipping - Eusine & Harrison 3/10 This guy has a houndoom as his main and has a tie with ho-oh, I’m shocked the fandom didn’t slam him together with Karen. Anyways he doesn’t have too much depth in the way most anime NPCs do but like mayhaps
GoldbergShipping - Eusine & Noland 5/10 Another dad bod type. Anyway I see this one tho since the cold calculations of Noland may mix with Eusine’s craziness.
*HarrowShipping - Eusine & Harley 10/10 Yes def on this one. Harley is kinda intense, Eusine is intense. I think this makes sense.
JonesShipping - Eusine & Ian 8/10 There isn’t much on this guy except that he takes care of pokemon. But he has that dad bod which apparently is Eosin’s thing so sure.
LegatoShipping - Butler & Eusine 0/10 So Butler has a girlfriend for one. I honestly feel like they have the same energy but Eusine is gay.
LegendQuestShipping/PursueShipping/RavingShipping - Eusine & Lawrence III 8/10 Again this is just crazy Eusine with someone enabling him.
*MadShipping - Eusine & Tyson (Johto) 6/10 The Tyson they’re talking about it she one that forced the evolution to happen. I mean I guess but also again this would be the crazy Eusine one.
ThunderShipping - Eusine & Kudou 8/10 One gets Suicune, and one gets Raikou I mean he’s one of those anime characters that doesn’t get much character so let it happen.
WitnessShipping - Eusine & Ritchie 0/10 This guy is a rival to Ash so ya know it’s a kid, and I don’t see anything they’d connect on.
Eusine w/ Orre or Ranger npcs
SuicuneShipping - Eusine & Venus 8/10 So they’re both conceited, and focused on folks liking them?
Eusine w/ manga characters
UnworthyShipping - Eusine & Walker Guess what folks, it’s another dad-o, specifically Falkner’s.
Eusine and multiple people: (All are gonna be a no romantically because I don’t see Karen being poly, but I’ll give plot ideas)
Top rated ships: ImaginaryFriend, and Oos shipping
Bottom rated ships: MissSaigon, Erratic and CrystalIntegrity shipping
4KingsShipping - Eusine, Falkner, Morty & Lyra 3/10 I’m kinda lost on the name here, and I could see them all hanging out I guess. Maybe a couples date thing, Eusine & Morty w/ Lyra and Falkner. Where do the kings come from tho?
BromanceShipping - Eusine, Flint (Elite), Morty & Volkner 7/10 Bromance where nothing is platonic and clearly 2 couples, or heck maybe it is, anyways I like it though! CapeShipping - Eusine & Jackson (Vincent) / Eusine, Jackson (Vincent) & Lance 9/10 Ok but cape awareness club though where they all sit down and make up good reasons to have a cape, and they make PR for it cause they’re tired of getting teased. It’s a funny idea. CrystalBellShipping - Eusine, Morty & Suicune 5/10 Ok this is just Eusine completing his goal in life and morty also being there. I mean I feel like Morty would be the 1 person to support him having the pokemon but I mean it’d eventually just be his fav pokemon on his team.
CrystalIntegrityShipping - Eusine, Paul, Kris & Suicune 1/10 This is just eusine hanging out with children and a legendary pokemon what are they supposed to do?
CrystaltrioShipping - Eusine, Morty & Kris 4/10 Just a gay couple handing out with this child who defeated them both in pokemon combat. Look she just thinks they’re cool ok?
DashingFanboyShipping - Baron Alberto, Eusine & Lawrence III 9/10 3 bad bois all out wanting to catch their pokemon favorite. Please don’t leave them along longer than 5 minutes because bad things can and will happen.
EastWindShipping - Crystal, Eusine & Suicune 4/10 This is just Eusine being mad that she caught the pokemon. It makes sense tbh, but I think she’d get annoyed with him trying to convince the legendary to be his pokemon.  ErraticShipping - Eusine & Morty + Eugene (Eusine) & Kudo 2/10 Ok so this is just Eusine shipped with one guy and another Eusine shipped with Morty cause Eugene and Eusine are the same person. I am confusion and I feel like Kudo and Morty would be too.
ImaginaryFriendShipping - Eusine, Lawrence III, Morty, Ho-Oh, Lugia & Suicune 10/10 .........This is just people giving them a hard time about pokemon they will never get/see isn’t it. Heh I feel like you could put more people in this thing, and I think there should just be that as a support group.  IntelligenceShipping - Eusine, Lucian & Will 5/10 Bruh Lucian would lose his mind trying to deal with these two, It’d be funny to watch but poor Lucian.  KarmaShipping - Eusine, Falkner, Morty & Will 5/10 What did Falkner do to deserve bad karma? And yes I say bad cause Will, Morty, and Eusine alone would cause some shiz. This is the above but with one more person and falconer stuck with it.  LovelyangstyfanserviceShipping - Eusine, Falkner, Lawrence III & Morty 5/10 Ah so these are the angsty bois huh? You’re missing a few folks.  Marina'sFondestDreamShipping - Eusine, Jackson (Vincent) & Lance 3/10 I think this is just a 4 way someone wants to happen. Eusine would have a good time talking to Vincent about Raikou cause it could help him find Suicune. Lance is wondering how he got wrapped up in this convo.
MisledShipping - King of Pokelantis, Ash & Eusine 4/10 So Ash got possessed by the king and Eusine would def fall into the same boat if there. Yeah the king would have 2 minions basically.
MissSaigonShipping - Brawly, Eusine & Morty 1/10 So many Eusine and Morty with another person. Hm I can’t think of much they’d have in common immediately...
MovingOnShipping - Eusine, Lawrence III & Professor Carolina 5/10 Professor Carolina helps 2 dorks get over the fact that they can’t have the legendary pokemon they want. MysticQuestShipping - Eusine, Jimmy (Kenta) & Marina (Johto) 4/10 This is just them all looking for suicune and only one gets it, spoiler it’s not Eusine
MysticShipping - Eusine, Morty & Will 6/10 Ah yes the clairvoyant, the psychic, and a fanboy. One of the most powerful forces to ever exist. Real talk though I feel like they’d just all cause trouble together.
MystifyShipping - Eusine, Morty & Whitney 3/10 Is it just me or is anyone that ships with Morty and Eusine feels like a 3rd wheel? I feel like they’d have an ok time together but idk if it’d go long term. OnMyHonorShipping - Eusine, Falkner, Morty & Clair 6/10 Ok yeah they all definitely have that ‘honor’ vibe about them but I fell like their honor systems have various levels of skew to them. It’d be interesting to get them all in a room to talk about it though.
OosShipping - Brawly, Eusine, Morty & Will 10/10 Please catch them all in some school au where they are the trouble makers of the school. Brawly is the wanna-be intimidating jock, Will is the class clown, Eusine is the dramatic theater kid, and Morty is the introvert they adopted.  SacredDevotionShipping - Eusine, Morty, Ho-Oh & Suicune 9/10 They finally got the pokemon they have fan boy crushes over. Cute but I feel like they’d not realize how much for it takes to care for a legendary. That and be bad at trying to defend them, interesting thing to explore.
SacredFireShipping - Eusine, Morty & Ho-Oh 5/10 Now morty got his pokemon he wants. Kinda cool, maybe it’d show Eusine what he looks lie to other people.
SacredHonorShipping - Eusine, Falkner & Morty 3/10 Again falconer feels like the third wheel here, and idk what they’d do long term.
SuitUpShipping - Butler, Darach, Eusine, Lance & Steven Stone 6/10 All the dudes in suits huh (and Lance)? I feel like some are missing. I can see them all going shopping some time though and getting wild new styles.
TrimurtiShipping - Eusine, Giovanni & Lance 4/10 Huh....ok I mean I just see it as Lance reluctantly keeping Eusine safe from Giovanni cause Eusine would def do something to make him mad trying to act tougher than he is.
Eusine w/ Eusine
RagingEgomaniacShipping - Eusine & Eusine 10/10 He’d band himself in a heart beat, and they’d be wildly annoying to everyone else.

My Dishonored 1 Experience.
So I played only a little of the original Dishonored when it came out in 2012 and didn’t really get into it as much as I wanted to. Thankfully I picked up the Triple Pack and now get to witness the whole series back to back. Now while I don’t listen and read into ALL lore, there have been a few things i’ve picked up that I find interesting or hilarious.
Just a note, I haven’t completed the game yet, or progressed very far, so I’ll politely ask to keep spoilers to a minimum...
Is there an actual reason for Wallace? I love the Hound Pits crew and all of their interactions and maybe high chaos Wallace is more interesting, but he just kinda... bitches at people and then leaves. “You can’t CURTSY?!” Like alright man, calm down, it’s not that serious... Emily isn’t that much of a stickler.
Piero has shown to be weirdly into Callista, as far as to peer through the keyhole of the bathroom at one point... but am I the only one that thinks Piero just wants really rough hate sex with Sokolov after hearing his audiographs? Like I get it, you were rivals, but I don’t think Sokolov obsesses over you in the same way my dude. Keep your Golden Cat inventions away from us as well... you smart little weirdo.
Treavor Pendleton is the most metal character of the Hound Pits Pub and no-one can tell me any different. The guy flat out survives being tied down and attacked by vipers because of his brothers. He even admits that he killed a fair few of them by stamping them into a pulp... Then goes on in another audiograph to talk about how easy it is for him to sleep with the Boyle Sisters, Like we get it Treavor, you fuck.
Sokolov is an ass man and I don’t know what to do with that information.
Admiral Havelock is starting to give me major villain vibes when he starts talking about maybe becoming Lord Regent after mentioning his aspirations to lead a navy in Emily’s name. C’mon now Farley, let’s stay good here now. We’ve come so far.
Emily is scary and confusing, one second I swear she has grand designs to be the next Madame of the Golden Cat and the next she’s pestering Havelock about sinking ships when she’s Empress, the pirates Havelock has encountered and the witches(?) that stay on board to command the whales. And the scared replies of  “yes, of course” from Havelock until he breaks and shuts down the conversation.
I will be sure to write more as I find more to talk about i’m sure.

An East Dulwich side story
Tumblr media
1970s East Dulwich will come to life in a major new Broadway production next year. Local resident Terry Ronald tells us more
Words Seamus Hasson; Photo Alexander McBride Wilson
During a recent excursion to Lordship Lane, the legendary Broadway director Jerry Mitchell remarked with slight bewilderment “it’s really posh around here.” If he was surprised to find a choice of gastro pubs and an organic butchers it may be because the East Dulwich he had envisaged was circa 1970s as depicted in Terry Ronald’s novel Becoming Nancy.
Set in 1979 and based on Terry’s life the novel tells the story of David Starr, a pop obsessed teenager and his quest to play Nancy in the school production of Oliver. So impressed was Jerry when he read the book that he immediately got in touch with his lawyer to buy the rights and next year he is set to bring it to life as a Broadway musical.
Ahead of its debut in New York however Jerry decided to make a visit to the backdrop of the whole play. “Jerry and the writers all came to East Dulwich to spend a day here and to get a vibe for it which was really good fun,” Terry explains sipping on a glass of red wine. He’s having a relaxing evening at the East Dulwich home he shares with his partner Mark.
The following day he’s off to New York, where he will see a complete run through of the show for the first time. “It was really funny to hear this big Broadway director say ‘I want to see the minimart,’ (now A J Farmers) I want to see where the bus stop was, Terry laughs, ‘I want to see Brockwell Park’ so it was great having him here.
“I mean he’s been to London a million times but he probably hadn’t been to the suburbs a lot. I showed him around my old street and the other surrounding streets. Lordship Lane is featured a lot in the book so I talked to him about that.”
So is East Dulwich really so different today to the one Terry writes about in Finding Nancy? “You know, it’s funny because the first song in the show is called East Dulwich and it’s all about how boring it is and how if you’re passing you should just pass on through.
“I suppose for a kid who grew up dreaming about pop stars and Hollywood movies it was a bit drab. It was just an ordinary suburb, that’s what it was for me but knowing what East Dulwich is now and how magical it is, it’s hilarious really.”
Terry is born and bred East Dulwich and after a number of years living in various other parts of South London he returned in 2005 when he and Mark set-up a home together. He says that Jerry and the writing team really enjoyed their visit and that a lot of the East Dulwich he captured in Becoming Nancy can still be found today.
“I think it’s still got that quaintness which Jerry really liked,” he tells me. “The weird thing that I always say about East Dulwich is that’s its maintained its character. When I was a kid I used to go shopping with my grandad on a Saturday morning and we used to go to the butchers, the fishmongers, the little grocers and all the different little shops.
“The supermarkets were quite small, like the Co-op that has always been a supermarket, Wallaces’ it was called at one time, and there was always a market down North Cross Road so in that way none of it’s changed.
“That scene is gentrification now but when I was a kid that’s just what it was like. I think that’s why people like East Dulwich, it hasn’t really changed.”
The book is in many ways a classic coming of age tale, set against a backdrop of 1970’s prejudices at a time when the National Front were making their presence felt. “It’s basically about a boy that gets to play Nancy in the school production of Oliver,” Terry says.
“He falls in love with the boy whose playing Bill Sykes so there’s a whole coming out story and it’s about how his family react to that in that era. When I was a kid I used to go to Rock against Racism gigs in Brockwell Park.
“So there’s also that aspect to it because his best friend in school is a young black girl; it’s about the journey both of them go through and how they confront that 70s sort of prejudice that was around both their stories. I’m not saying it’s easy now (coming out) but back then there were no (gay) role models, there was no one in TV in soap operas.”
The book, published in 2012 was a success critically and received a Polari first book prize nomination. By Terry’s own admission it “wasn’t exactly 50 Shades of Grey sales wise” so it was a pleasant surprise when he got a phone call from his agent to say that Jerry Mitchell had expressed an interest.
“I was working on a one woman show with Denise Van Outen in the West End the day I found out and when I told her she got so hysterical and completely excited,” Terry tells me. Van Outen has previous with Jerry having worked with him on the West End show Kinky Boots.
To say he’s musical royalty is a massive understatement. A Tony Award winning director and producer Jerry has enjoyed success in Broadway and the West End with other hits such as Legally Blonde and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
The music and lyrics for the production have been written by acclaimed writers Stiles and Drew whose past work includes Half A Sixpence and Betty Blue Eyes.
“They were going to do it here first in the West End because obviously it’s very London centric,” Terry says, “but when they did the workshops in America they decided to do it first in Broadway. There’s a feeling that new musicals are working better there than they are here at the minute.
“Also they thought that American audiences would like it because it’s very British.” The cast boasts a number of Brits including Sally Ann Triplett and legendary West End star Jenna Russell who plays Aunt Val. The actor playing David who Terry describes as having the “most flawless British accent I have ever heard” is from Alabama.
One of the themes that runs through both the novel and the play is David’s dreams of pop stardom. For Terry growing up in the 1970s it was an important means of escapism. “I was obsessed with pop music as a kid, I was mad about Debbie Harry and Kate Bush and ABBA.
“I was a real pop person and in fact all those characters feature in the show. The posters in his bedroom come to life and it’s like a funny Debbie Harry who is his kind of spiritual guide in the book.” As our conversation has moved onto music I take the opportunity to ask him about his own pop career which I discovered while doing a Google search. Did he have any chart hits I might recognise?
“Not in this country,” he tells me with a rueful laugh. “My ‘big in Japan kind of thing’ was Spain and Italy and Sweden, I had hits there. I was sort of culty here but never had chart hits.” Naturally self- deprecating he’s being slightly disingenuous when he says he didn’t have chart success here. He has in fact written several chart hits for other artists and even toured with Robert Palmer in the early 90s.
I press him a bit further about his work with other artists. “My biggest hit I wrote was so uncool, “he laughs. “S Club Juniors, Automatic High.” Embarrassing hits aside Terry’s contribution to pop music history is considerable. He has also worked as a voice coach on xfactor and The Voice and since moving from pop to literature he hasn’t stopped writing.
He has collaborated on five bestselling celebrity autobiographies with the likes Pauline Quirke, Tulisa, Michelle Collins and his friend Dannii Minogue. He was also behind YouTube sensation Oli White's bestselling novel, Generation Next, and the #1 bestselling follow up, Generation Next: The Takeover.
A self-confessed musical fanatic has Terry been impressed by the team behind the production of Becoming Nancy. “I think I’ve been lucky because I got on well with the guys doing it, they’ve always let me be involved in the process.
“I’ve had my little ‘Oh, maybe this should be like this’ moments but I’ve really kept out of it because it’s not my show, it’s my book but it’s their show and they’re doing a really good job. I think they’ve done a really beautiful job with it.
“It is kind of weird to see not only something you’ve created coming to life in a Broadway production, looking out of 42nd street but also seeing actors and actresses essentially playing your family. People I know as musical theatre actors and actresses that I knew and admired, that’s weird and nice and exciting, definitely. “

The Signs as Characters from ‘BRIDESMAIDS’
Tumblr media
Annie Walker - Taurus
Bridesmaids is a hilarious and groundbreaking female-driven comedy about addiction and friendship, two things Tauruses know how to do very well. They are loyal and committed people whose reputation as the most boring sign of the zodiac is forgiven for also being the best friends you will ever find on this fucking planet, and they KNOW this dammit!! They wear their friendships like purple hearts, but it also means they can easily get stuck in a rut and indulge in self-destructive habits like fucking terrible people and matching red shoes with red nail polish when the waves get rough. Not to mention it could take years (or a very messy rock bottom) before these bulls get the wake up call they need to make a positive change in their lives, as evidenced by Annie failing to do any of this until Melissa McCarthy literally bites her in the ass while watching Castaway, a movie I am SURE she has seen at least five times.
They can also be territorial and possessive. While Annie may seem like that down-to-earth, low-maintenance girl who side eyes women that wear $8,000 evening gowns to an afternoon engagement party, on the inside she is a red-faced toddler crossing her arms and stamping her feet because Mom won’t let her play with the iPad. Or, in this case, because her best friend since CHILDHOOD (seriously, who still has friends from childhood? TAURUSES, bitches! + people from the Midwest) is getting married and has, like many grown ass adults sometimes do, ~made another friend~. Suddenly, Annie is forced to, without prior knowledge or consent, confront the bull’s biggest fear: change. Which is a big fat scary no no for a masochistic Taurus who would rather pursue subpar fucks than make baked goods with an emotionally literate Scottish bae. Tauruses like Things As They Are even when they don’t, and Annie Walker is no exception. We stan a true Taurus queen.
Tumblr media
Sorry, Libras. Branding the antagonist of the movie as one may seem counterintuitive for a sign whose entire identity revolves being nice and fair to EVERYONE and liking EVERYONE and getting along with EVERYONE, but that’s exactly why Helen Harris III wins the coveted title of Passive Aggressive Shithead Who Reminds You of 30% Of Your High School: everyone loves her, everyone wants to be her, and who can blame them? As a wise Jeff Winger once said, nerds go to space to impress the people who wore leather jackets in high school.
And Helen Harris is beautiful. She can pull off wearing an $8,000 evening gown to an afternoon engagement party (almost) without coming off like an asshole. Helen Harris can book spontaneous bridal salon fittings. Helen Harris could eat that fucking cookie (Annie could never). Even if it means gaslighting a woman out of a wedding party, getting bullied by bratty white kids or marrying David Wallace, Libras don’t know who they are without the bliss of knowing their personal brand of outward bullshit is loved and admired by all, even if that means suppressing their true feelings until their next tennis sesh at the Milwaukee country club. Helen proves this when she ugly cries to a woman she socially tormented for the better part of a year, and also proves this when she arranges for Annie’s emotionally literate Scottish bae to pick her up after the wedding. You can’t convince me otherwise.
Tumblr media
Lillian - Virgo
It’s easy to put Virgos in that Friends Who Have Their Shit Together box, even if underneath that facade they are literally dying inside. But this is what I love about Lillian, who is yes, obviously a Virgo. Lillian is getting married to the man she loves. She curated a bridal party that genuinely knows and loves her. She gets someone like Helen to simp for her. So yes, she is that classic Virgo who doesn’t judge you for not having your shit together but also would never, ever forgive herself for sinking that low.
But Lillian also manages to laugh when she comes out wearing that Abominable Snowman of a wedding dress. She shits on the street and lives to tell the tale. She is able to make hard choices and set boundaries with her best friend. Lillian doesn’t judge people out of insecurity, because she knows who she is and accepts it.
I’d like to think there is a Virgo out there, punishing herself because she applied to three jobs instead of two that day, who sees a Lillian and realizes there is a future where she can be a #BossBitch without committing her entire life to proving it to herself and others. I’d like to think there’s a Virgo out there who sees Lillian and realizes she doesn’t have to let her friend copy her homework answers for the fourth consecutive math test because no, she isn’t responsible for her lazy friend’s inability to study ahead of time. Lillian is the representation Virgos desperately need - not just because she is a badass woman, but because she is happy. She is a role model for all of us, and you can’t get more Virgo than that.
Tumblr media
Megan - Aries
This was a hard one. On the one hand, Megan is weird. But let’s be real, an Aquarius could never be entrusted with the codes to every nuke buried underneath the United States. They would take those codes and use it to yeet Mark Zuckerberg out of his 100 million dollar Palo Alto estate within the first hour of signing their W-2 form. No, Megan may be unapologetically Megan as shit, but it’s not because she’s an Aquarius. She’s bold, and forward, and unapologetically Aries.
Which is odd, considering that an Aries and a Taurus together is, well... an unlikely friendship combo. Both signs are strong-willed and stubborn as hell, but in a way that makes them want to declare war on each other’s egos, not inspire the other into becoming better people. But then again, maybe that’s why their friendship works. Where Annie throws an empty compliment at an overdressed woman she’s already decided she hates, Megan expresses a desire to climb a man five minutes upon meeting Annie. Where Annie sits on a couch watching Castaway instead of addressing her issues the way 35 year old women probably should have learned to do by now, Megan bites ass and reminds her of this this. Where Annie HOLDS IN VOMIT UNTIL SHE HAS DRIVEN MILES AWAY FROM A BRIDAL SALON, Megan shits right into that refurbished marble sink without a second thought. Get where I’m going with this? Megan does what Annie doesn’t, which sometimes is exactly what a Taurus needs to get out of their rut of self-pity. But of course, Megan doesn’t just exist to provide emotional labor to lazy Earth signs. She is an individual truly living her best life, and we love for her for it. Aries women slap like no other.
Tumblr media
Rita - Scorpio
Brutally honest and a sexual goddess. What more can you expect from an unhappily married Scorpio? Rita is bold, sexy, and dramatic, who knows how to pack the punches so quick and dirty she can turn a Disney-obsessed woman child into a drunken bisexual as she sips her martini on a first class ticket she bought with her asshole of a husband’s tax fraud money. After all, who else besides a Scorpio would tell a woman she hasn’t seen since high school that her very own flesh and blood masturbated a blanket into oblivion? Scorpios are dark, brooding, and know when they are being taken for granted. Nowhere is this better exemplified than when Rita spills the piping hot tea on her shitty family that can’t see her for the goddess she truly is. Rita, you deserve better.
Tumblr media
Becca - Pisces
Erin Kemper has a long history of playing maladaptively naive characters, but I will bet my next unemployment check that Erin based her performance of Becca entirely off a Pisces description she found on Cafeastrology.com. Because there is literally nothing more Pisces than Becca. The hair, the clothes, the willingness to go through hospital levels of self-sanitization for her husband so that she can finally bone? Trying to convince herself she’s also too tired so that she doesn’t have to admit to herself that her husband is an emotionally and sexually unavailable failure of a man who can’t give her what she needs until she experiences a sexual awakening 2,000 miles up in the air with her Scorpio biffle??? Yup. Pisces to a P.
Tumblr media
Rhodes - Cancer
Aww, Rhodes. So sweet. So awkward. Why did they have to make you a cop?
Can we talk about why it is that almost every leading man who is emotionally mature and secure in his masculinity ALWAYS seems to elicit Cancerous vibes, even if they’re clearly not a Cancer? Actual Cancer men, take note. Rhodes  pursues respectfully. He calls, even after Annie doesn’t call back. Rhodes attempts exposure therapy on a woman he has had sex with once. Rhodes WOULD get ghosted by 80% of the women he meets on dating apps (including Annie, let’s be real), and we love him for it. Because cancers are just that loving and loyal! So yes, we can excuse him for getting a stick up his butt sometimes when someone drops a perfectly biodegradable vegetable on the ground. He more than makes up for it.
Tumblr media
Annie’s mom - Gemini
Geminis are either terrible or the best people you’ll ever meet, and Annie’s mom is one of the rare few that falls into that in-between category of chaotic good, adorable Gemini doing her best not to drive everyone she’s ever loved away with what little self-awareness she has about her Gemininess. Annie’s mom is bubbly, chatty, and queen of the chisme. She uses logic to justify calling her ex husband’s wife a whore, and talks like she has a doctorate degree in the unsolicited advice she offers her daughter. Until at least, she’s introduced to a sweet man, and all that logic and wordiness melts away into a gooey puddle of all those emotions she likes to think she’s above.
Tumblr media
Bryn - Aquarius
There are a lot of stand out heroines in this movie, but none of them beat the comedic genius that is Bryn, an incestuous roommate Annie probably dug up from Craiglist’s seventh circle of hell. Aquari are trail blazing, unconventional, and friendly enough to distract you from the fact that their brain cells came from aliens. Bryn is no exception. Even an impulsive Aries would look at the opportunity to get an offensively tacky tattoo in the back of a van and think, “I’ll get Starbucks instead.” But an Aquarius thrives on making people uncomfortable with their Society Has To Catch Up To Me complex, and Bryn is no exception. After all, if they’re not scandalizing their depressed roommate with xenophobic tattoos and baths with their brother, then who even are they? A sheep, that’s who.
Tumblr media
13 year old - Sagittarius
This specific breed of popular mean girl is either a Gemini or Sagittarius. I have nothing to back up this claim, but watching that horrible girl verbally spar her way into getting a 35 year old woman fired from a jewelry store is enough to turn me into a believer. That’s why it was so hard to pinpoint a sign for her. On one hand, this girl is probably responsible for the social anxiety of at least a dozen ex-BFFs. She also clearly knows how to use words to make someone wish they had never been born, so I can accept that this insecure adult’s worst nightmare has a few placements of mercurial badassery in her chart.
But the truth hurts, and no one knows how to finesse the truth like a Sag, who either doesn’t know what they’re doing when they tell a customer service rep they have no boobs, or they know exactly. Anyway, don’t project your friendship drama onto an undeveloped Sagittarius child, Annie. Or tell them they’re going to be pregnant at their prom (yikes). You do not know what you’re getting yourself into.
Tumblr media
Annie’s Mystery Man - Capricorn
The sports jacket. The pipe. The vibes. This guy probably cured cancer back in the day and still hated himself for not figuring it out until he was 30. You could also totally tell he was sizing Annie up to see if she met his expectations of People Worth His Time (she didn’t). Capricorn man, you are right. None of us deserve you. RIP Hugh Dane.

Jez Dior Wants to Be for Others What Eminem Was for Him [Q&A]
Tumblr media
Growing up, you’re constantly finding those idols to look up to. Someone you want to be like, someone you resonate with. Whether it’s a parent, athlete, actor, musician, you have that person you aspire to be. For Jez Dior, it was artists like Eminem and 50 Cent who let him know he wasn’t alone. Now, Jez is on a life mission to pay it forward to fans who are going through similar struggles he was living through not too long ago and evidently still dealing with today.
With over 50 million streams to date, Jez Dior is using his platform to spread a hopeful message. Jez touches the hearts of millions of fans daily delivering the simple yet necessary moral that you’re not alone. His music as a therapeutic outlet to channel through, a shoulder to lean on during your time of need and despondency.
Jez recently released his debut full-length album Handle With Care earlier this fall. The album touches on losing loved ones, life struggles, and heartbreak. We were able to sit down with Jez and get to know why he creates music that resonates with so many.
Ones to Watch: Who is Jez Dior? Take us back to the beginning.
Jez Dior: I started making music around 11 or 12. I basically would go in my mom’s car and record on this little, tiny voice recorder, saying raps that I had written when I was super young. I was just, like, obsessed with Eminem and 50 Cent at the time and wanted to do everything they were doing. I started writing music around that time, and ever since then, it just became an obsession of mine. That really grew me into the artist I am today.
Do you remember the first song you ever wrote?
No, but my mom has a bunch of lyrics of mine that I used to write. I used to write them on white computer paper, and I just never threw them away. I used to literally write as if I was in G-Unit and like some gangster from New York shit, like from Jamaica, Queens. I used to just emulate what 50 Cent and Lloyd Banks were talking about. it’s very embarrassing to read that, but it’s hilarious.
That is gold. Tell us a bit about your musical journey thus far.
J: I’ve always been innovative when it comes to music. I use music as a form of therapy; it really helps me get my feelings out. I’ve always been super personal when it comes to writing, and I haven’t been scared to show that side of me to the world. Early on, I would write a lot about when my dad left. My dad left when I started writing around 11 or 12. So, the content on my earlier projects sort of kept going in that direction and are a lot darker I’d say. It was a much darker time in my life when I first started actually putting out music.
With that being said, I think people were really able to relate to the content of the songs. That’s what really kick-started my career. I was just putting out music and talking about things I was going through, and in turn, I think people were going through or had been going through, similar things throughout their life. I think I was able to build a core fanbase off of those earlier projects. A lot of those kids still ride with me ‘til this day. Fast forward to today, things are a lot different, being with a label and having multiple people on your team. It’s just been an ever-changing story, and one that’s still developing, you know?
youtube
Definitely. What would you say is the biggest self-realization you’ve had during your career?
I’m sort of an anxious person. Growing up, I was always pretty timid. When it comes to music, I’ve found this fearless side of myself. I’ve always been very honest in my music. So, throughout my career, when it comes to my art and making music, I’ve always just been careless. There’s really nothing about myself that I’m scared to showcase or provide to my fans.
How does it feel to know your music has impacted so many people?
It’s honestly still crazy to me to this day. Since my music has such a personal tone to it, I’ve been getting so many messages from kids all over the world throughout my whole career, but it still blows my mind to this day. I was at dinner with my homie, and this person named their cat after me. I get messages of people who got “Funeral Crew” tattooed, which is what my fans call themselves. Or just that my music has saved their life. Everytime I get a little message like that from anyone about anything, it still is mind-blowing. Just to see the words that I write and record reach the distances that they do is just mind-blowing, and quite frankly the reason I keep making music.
That’s amazing man! I can only imagine how it must feel to have someone look up to you as a hero. It must be such a rewarding feeling.
Yeah, I mean, that’s what I define success as. If it is just one person reaching out to me saying I saved their life, that alone is success to me. But the fact that I literally get messages every single day while I check my DM requests on Instagram, it’s just like paragraphs on paragraphs about how and why my music means so much to them. It’s really really cool and humbling.
Tumblr media
Take me through your writing and recording process.
It all starts with production. So, that just depends on who I’m working with that given day. For a long time, and my first couple of EPs, I worked with one dude. His name is Danny Score; he did all my earlier stuff. So our process was kind of just like, you know, we’d have a conversation about what’s going on in my head and where I’m at. Like I said, it’s always been a form of therapy for me, and my music has always been real to what I’m going through at any given time. From there, we’d always pick up a guitar and I’d tell him what I like and don’t like. That’s really where I learned how to form a song, just working with him.
I carry that same vibe with me today when I’m in the studio. I don’t play any instruments, but I’m always very hands-on. It’s always different depending on who I’m working with, but I do work with mostly people who know me well on a personal level still. My dude Chris Wallace, Rome from Sublime, and Matt Radosevich are all close friends of mine and did my whole first album.
Walk me through the process of your debut album, Handle With Care, and where did the name come from?
J: Yeah so, I came up with the name because the album to me is basically myself wrapped up in to a very fragile package, you know? I start the album off talking about suicide that has happened within my family, my mom’s depression, my dad’s drug abuse, and how it affected my little sister. There’s been overdoses in my family; My uncle passed away in my bedroom, in my bed when I was younger. Just all of the shit that I’ve been through in my life, I really take head-on in the album, so I just came up with the name because I really feel like I want people to handle it with care.
As for the process, it was really just a lot of conversations discussing what I want to talk about, how far I want to go with the stories that I feel like need to be heard. It was a lot of that before the recording process started, and that continued on throughout. But yeah, it was just a super personal album. I think we have some hits on there. We got some sad songs. I think there’s something for everybody. I couldn’t be more happy with the way it came out.
I’m a huge fan of the album, specifically your song “Please Don’t Go.” I really resonate with it on a personal level. Can you tell me a bit about that song and why it was the first single released off the album?
Thanks man, that means a lot. You know it’s funny, I think I’m guilty of the thing that a lot of artists are guilty of, and it’s your new song is always your favorite. That was the last song I recorded for the album, and also the song that was resonating with me at the time of my ex and I breaking up prior to writing and recording that song. I felt like I needed to get that song out for my own healing. I also just really love the song. Chris Wallace and I spent a couple of days working on it and it was the last song we submitted for the album. I don’t know; I really love that song. Not only you, but a lot of people can connect with that song.
No doubt. What’s the overall message you want to get across to your fanbase?
J: Just that you’re not alone. There are so many times that I’ve felt that I’m alone in my feelings and that I don’t have anywhere to turn or go to. I just want my fans to know that they’re definitely not alone and things do get better. That’s why I try to go so deep, honest, and really dive deep down to get to what I’m feeling when I’m making music. That’s basically what Eminem did for me. I could relate to him so much when I was younger, he made me feel like I wasn’t alone with what I was going through. I want to be able to give back and give these kids the same sort of feeling. There are people out there going through the same thing they’re going through. Things do get better. There’s always a light at the end of the tunnel.

Not your average Sci-Fi Romance - His to Claim: An Alien Overlords Novel by Taylor Vaughn
Tumblr media
Taylor Vaughn is a combination of interracial romance author, Theodora Taylor and interracial dark romance author, Eve Vaughn. I’m a HUGE Theodora Taylor fan, I live for her 50 Loving States series, so much so, the lady had me reading shifter romances as part of the series. Cue my best Wallace Shawn impersonation from The Princess Bride, “Inconceivable!” I don’t do shifter romances, but Theodora Taylor is that chick, basically she could rewrite the yellow pages and I’d buy it…happily. Now, she’s got me reading an alien romance, excitedly, good grief! I’M SO HERE FOR IT! This novel deals with some serious themes, and this isn’t your regular sci-fi romance novel by any stretch of the imagination.
Kira lives on New Terrhan, a red clay planet that’s hard and sometimes impossible to farm. She’s part of a group of people whose ship crash-landed on this planet. She only knows about Earth from stories and the computer on their busted-up ship.  New Terrhan has alien overlords called the Xalthurians who have a treaty with the earth survivors; they breed with young human females in exchange for grain, seeds and other provisions in something called a Mating Ceremony. There’s absolutely nothing ceremonious about a mass gang rape of twenty-year-old girls, but there it is. The Xalthurian’s civilization has been devastated by a virus that has left their women infertile, so they need human females to repopulate. Here’s the cute part though they come back and take the kids, only the boys because they need them for the war their fighting and they clearly don’t value the females of their species in any way. This is where we meet Kira, her sister has given birth to a boy and must give up the baby. This entire theme throughout the book is giving me vibes of American slavery where black women were used as breeding chattel, and their children were taken away and sold off.
Kira comes to a difference of opinion with the head Xalthurian in charge, but he’s intrigued by her and promises to come back for her when she’s of age. Kel D’Rek obsesses over the human girl who defied him for two years and when he goes back for her, Kira bolts because she’s got sense. Kel’s stronger, more powerful, she ends up on the home planet, and in a messed-up situation; however, her overload isn’t a complete jerk. Kel D’Rek is moved by Kira and comes up with a treaty with her to bear his child, helpful that he’s the king. This part of the story was giving my biblical vibes of Queen Esther in the Bible who uses a man’s wanting of her to be strategic and negotiate better treatment for her people, which is what Kira does.
The human/alien pairing have their ups and down, and the two do love for each other. Though D’Rek is a bit slow on the uptake, his people aren’t big in the love department. Experiments and plots are being formed right under the Kel’s nose by people that he trusts. Kel receives a report from his Prime Minister on the human which condenses our history and Kel’s reactions are priceless. Everything in the report on human history is spot on, and the authors do a brilliant job of showing someone unfamiliar with humans and their response to our very humanness – bleeping brilliant! I loved it and was totally here for that.
Another exciting part was that of the suggested brainwashing. I’m sure it will come up in subsequent books as this will be a series. The Prime Minister wants to bring human females and mix-race female offsprings back to Xalthurian and educate them properly and then reintroduce them to New Terrhan so they’ll help keep the rest of the population on that planet in line. Where have I seen that before in history, I wonder?...
The only theme in the book that bothered me was that of the magical negro. D’Rek reads a false report from him Prime Minister on the New Terrhan inhabitants, how they are shiftless, lazy, and unintelligent. Gee that sounds familiar too. D’Rek assumes all humans are just like the report and Kira must be a unique/special human, unlike the others. He comes to this conclusion despite not knowing any other humans besides Kira, but that’s prejudice for you. He’s totally on the special human kick, but it’s also a thinly veiled magical negro theme often see in literature, television, and movies.  Now don’t get me wrong Kira is special, but it’s not because she’s human or black it’s because she’s Kira, and that’s, that on that.
Taylor and Vaughn or Taylor Vaughn did a fantastic job on this book; the characters are great, the world-building is excellent, and you quickly come to care for both main characters. The romance got a bit dark in places, but Eve Vaughn did co-write this book so if that’s not your thing, steer clear. You’ve been warned, it’s not all hand holding and sunshine on the beach, shit gets deep. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can’t wait for more. It’s a great kick start to what promises to be an exciting sci-fi romance series. You can look out the next title in the series coming up in June of 2019: His to Steal, Book 2 in the Alien Overlord Series.

I want to disclose before I even start this post that the day I started writing this, BookTube came out with a whole load of videos inspired by Jin’s birthday that follows the exact same concept. I promise I’m not trying to plagiarise any of their ideas behind the videos, I’ve been planning this series of posts for months! This is a link to a whole playlist of those videos that meltotheany created, I highly recommend watching.
If you haven’t been around the past year, I have fallen very deep into the BTS rabbit hole. I was always aware of BTS, because I’ve listened to K-Pop for a few years alongside my other music interests, but it was only once I got into BTS in April this year that I fully dedicated invested myself to actually listening to their music as a whole.
With music obsessions comes associating random things with the people in the group, and, as a result, I came up with a whole load of books that remind me of the members of BTS, as well as individual songs/albums/concepts/etc., so I’m… starting another blog series!
Starting off: BOOKS TO READ BASED ON YOUR BIAS. I love all of them, but I always think of my favourite as the one who, if they are in teams, I always hope they will be the one to win the challenge. I’ve done this for pretty much everything I enjoy.
For me, the person I always want to win is Jin, so I’m going to go eldest to youngest, recommending books that remind me of them.
KIM SEOKJIN
Sadie by Courtney Summers: While Jin is very down to Earth and willing to dick around with the younger members of the group, he is very protective and has his serious moments. Sadie is a dual narrative following teenager Sadie as she hunts for the man that she believes murdered her younger sister. It’s a very difficult read– content warnings for pedophilia, sexual abuse, and violence– but I feel like it hits hard when you’re the eldest sibling, which Jin technically is.
The Adventure Zone: Here There Be Gerblins by the McElroy’s and Carey Pietsch: Okay, so this is a very different approach to Jin, but Taako… really reminds me of him? I can’t shake the vibes. My original notes for this post literally just say ‘look: jin and taako have the same energy’, I am adamant.
The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin: Another sad pick unfortunately! The Immortalists follows four siblings who all learn the dates they’re going to die, and the book follows them in order. It’s kind of a tragic read, but the exploration of mortality and fate is great. The familial relationships are complicated and layered, with people drifting apart, and as an older sister, it’s quite terrifying to look into the future and realise I’ve got my whole life ahead of me with these people I’ve grown up with. And that, again, reminds me of Jin.
Scott Pilgrim VS The World Series by Bryan Lee O’Malley: Finish off on a happy one! Jin likes video games, and Scott Pilgrim reads a lot like a video game, if that’s possible. It’s about a guy in his twenties who is kind of a loser and has to beat his new girlfriend’s evil exes. Quite a popular read, and the movie is solid, but the graphic novels are just better. They have more Wallace Wells, and Wallace is a character I could see Jin appreciating.
MIN YOONGI
Alice Isn’t Dead by Joseph Fink: If it’s possible for a book about a woman searching for her dead wife and accidentally uncovering a world of horror to be quiet, Alice Isn’t Dead accomplishes that. Keisha Taylor, our main character, openly struggles with her anxiety throughout, and Yoongi is very open about mental health and struggling to carry on. The book is about finding your strength and refusing to accept apologies until you’re ready to accept them, and I think Yoongi would like the messages this book sends.
I Want to Eat Your Pancreas by Yoru Sumino: Another one I struggle to explain. A teenage boy finds the diary of his classmate, who is suffering from a pancreatic disease and isn’t certain she’ll live through it. A boundary-crossing friendship blooms between the two, and there are so many unexpected moments. It’s a real tearjerker, I’ll tell you that. Something about how real the narrative is makes me think of Yoongi.
Radio Silence/I Was Born For This by Alice Oseman: Yoongi is, again, very open about struggling with his mental health, and mental health is quite a big theme in both of these books. Radio Silence is focused on the pursuit of what makes you happy in a world telling you to focus on academics instead of being creative, a very Yoongi theme; and I Was Born For This has a POV of a frontman of a boy band who struggles with anxiety and is disillusioned with fame.
The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo: Just now realising all of my choices for Yoongi are super serious, which is going to be the direct opposite of the next member. The Poet X is written in verse– a great introduction to the form– and follows a young girl who struggles and attempts to understand her mother’s religion through the poetry she writes. Xiomara’s passion for the form is so beautiful and she flourishes in writing, truly feeling herself when she’s performing, and I think that’s something I see in Yoongi, too.
JUNG HOSEOK
The Monster of Elendhaven by Jennifer Giesbrecht: This is a very strange choice, but let me explain. Personality wise, Hoseok is a Gemini: very happy and hopeful, but his mood switches can be scary as heck. The Monster of Elendhaven made me laugh out loud, but it’s really dark– the narrator is a serial killer in a miserable fantasy world, and the main relationship is toxic but entirely consensual. It’s bizarre, and the contradictions remind me of Hoseok. Also, if you search up Hoseok’s Cypher 4 Live outfit where he looks like a Victorian aristocrat about to do nefarious science, he’s exactly how I picture Herr Leikenbloom.
Lumberjanes written by various: Lumberjanes is a series I’ve read for literal years, and it’s the right balance of lighthearted and heartfelt that it reminds me of Hoseok. Ripley, one of the main girls, is so energetic and passionate that I can’t help but think of Hoseok! Lumberjanes is set at a camp where our characters go on fantastical adventures and have to save the day, even if nobody else knows the day is being saved.
Winnie the Pooh by A.A. Milne: Don’t @ me, Winnie the Pooh is everything to me and I won’t be shamed for my passion. So many of the stories turn into ones of hope and friendship, literally the core of Pooh’s character, and Hoseok is like that for me. Him and Jimin, honestly, but Jimin isn’t until later! No getting ahead of myself!
Bravest Warriors by various: You can tell I love my comedies, can’t you? Bravest Warriors constantly edges on ridiculous, reminiscent of Adventure Time, and I love it for how scatter brained and funny it is. It’s just fun, plain and simple, and I think that’s good for us sometimes. Remembering to enjoy yourself, even when the going gets tough, which Hoseok shows.
KIM NAMJOON
In Other Lands by Sarah Rees Brennan: Namjoon, as the leader, has to be very in control and can sometimes seem like he’s drawing himself out of the fun in interviews to focus, but is very driven to change things for the better. In Other Lands focuses on Elliott, a boy who finds himself at a magical school and, against the expectations of magical society, begins to change it from the inside out using pacifism, quick wit and a reluctance to do anything energetic, but finds himself ostracised for it. I think Elliott staying true to his own nature and finding happiness even when it’s difficult is admirable, and also very much a Namjoon thing to do.
Aquicorn Cove by Katie O’Neill: After losing her mother, Lana moves to an island and begins to uncover a hidden magical world that’s at risk because of over-fishing. It’s a soft take on a wider issue, but Katie O’Neill is very good at handling themes like this and making them explicit without losing direction. I think Namjoon would really enjoy O’Neill’s work, but this especially is a very current issue.
No One Is Too Small to Make a Difference by Greta Thunberg: Speak yourself! Express your passions! Greta Thunberg is the embodiment of ‘speaking yourself’ and changing the world for the better, no matter who tries to knock you down.
Taproot by Keezy Young: I don’t know what it is about this that reminds me of Namjoon. In Taproot, Blue is a ghost, and haunting Hamal, his best friend whom he is in love with. There’s a focus on natural colours because Hamal works as a gardener, but it can be quite dark at times, looking at loss and fear of moving on. It just yells ‘Namjoon’ to me. I’ve definitely focused on more environment-focused writing for him.
PARK JIMIN
Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson: I like to describe Jimin as being sweet, but the most likely to commit a crime and get away with it, especially amongst the other members of BTS. So many of Stevie’s actions in this book as she investigates an unsolved crime remind me of Jimin, just because only he could get away with it. He’s been voted as one of the top idols like, 50 times, he’s very intimidating. If I caught him sneaking through my belongings, I’d be too scared to say anything.
Check, Please! by Ngozi Ukazu: Yes, Jimin is intimidating, but I also said he’s sweet, and Eric Bittle is the exact same. Bitty becomes a hockey player after years of competing as a professional figure skater, and finds himself making a home amongst men a lot bigger and a lot physically tougher than him. He overcomes a lot of hardships and works hard, and that’s something you see in Jimin’s dancing and own behaviours in being a part of BTS.
Neverworld Wake by Marisha Pessl: God, this is the exact same reasoning as Truly Devious, I’m sorry. I just really do think Jimin could be sneaky and get away with what these characters do! Neverworld Wake follows a young woman who reunites with her highschool friends and finds herself in a Groundhog Day scenario, repeating the same day over and over again as they attempt to uncover who murdered her boyfriend the year before. It’s very dark and atmospheric, I adore it.
Lovely Complex by Aya Nakahara: I’ll be honest, I’m mostly saying this series because Jimin is short. Lovely Complex follows Risa, an incredibly tall girl, and Atsushi, a boy well below expected height, who become reluctant friends in their pursuit to find romance. It’s very light and cute, probably one of the easiest manga series I’ve ever read.
KIM TAEHYUNG
Animals by Emma Jane Unsworth: This is almost a joint pick with Jimin. Animals follows a young woman in her twenties who parties more than she probably should with her American roommate. Her life slowly begins to unravel as she notices more faults in her relationships, and begins to question if this is what she actually wants from life. There’s something about people in their mid-to-late-twenties partying and making terrible decisions as they have a crisis that reminds me of Taehyung, just because him and the rest of the group have been so open with how much he’s changed and attempted to make himself into a more in-control person.
Snotgirl by Bryan Lee O’Malley: Look. Taehyung is very bougie, and Snotgirl follows socialite and fashion blogger Lottie as she tries to combat her chronic allergies and not get sent to prison for murder. It’s a very exciting series, the characters are self-centred and awful, and I think Taehyung would love it. They are all rich and dress impeccably.
If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio: Taehyung is an actor, we all know this, and If We Were Villains follows several actors at a prestigious (and fictional) conservatory specialising in Shakespearean acting who end up embroiled in a murder plot. It’s dark academia a la The Secret History, but its focus on Shakespeare means it’s much suited to Taehyung. Dark, dangerous and dramatic.
I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson: I couldn’t not have a book on art in here when I’m talking about Taehyung, and it was only going through shelves upon shelves that made me realise I have read so few books on art. I’ll Give You the Sun is a dual narrative novel, following artist twins Jude (in the present) and Noah (3 years in the past) as they tackle romance, art and loss. There are so many twists and turns, and the writing is beautiful.
JEON JUNGKOOK
A Head Full of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay: Ah, the book that started it all. This is the one I’m most confident in. We follow eight year old Merry, who finds herself and her family exploited in a reality TV show based on the assumed demonic possession of her older sister, Marjorie. It’s a very difficult read. Even though it’s not clear cut, Merry clearly loves her older sister and wants her to be okay, and that’s something that reminds me of Jungkook. He’s said more than once that watching the older members of the band struggle has impacted him most throughout their career, and that’s really embedded in the narrative of this novel.
The Avant-Guards by Carly Usdin: I had to pick at least one athletic narrative for Jungkook, okay. In this series we follow former sports star Charlie, who ends up being recruited by the basketball team at her new College, and begins to carve a place for herself where she belongs. It’s an easy story and all of the characters are likeable, balancing out the competitive nature of the characters. Jungkook is someone who works out a lot but also comes across as very happy, and that’s what these characters are like!
The Magnus Chase Trilogy by Rick Riordan: One of the things I love about Jungkook is how much he cares about the other members of BTS, and Magnus Chase is exactly the same. He almost becomes a background character in the later books in order to help his friends succeed, and it’s that trait that saves their lives in the end. This is actually my favourite Rick Riordan series, so do with that what you will!
Heavy Vinyl by Carly Usdin: I literally only just realised I’ve recommended two Carly Usdin comic series’s for Jungkook, so that must mean she just writes very Jungkook-esque comics. Heavy Vinyl is set in the late 90’s and follows Chris, who has just got a job working at her favourite record store. Only there’s a bit more to the store than first meets the eye, and she’s about to be embroiled in something far larger than she ever expected. I think the active qualities of Carly Usdin’s characters remind me of Jungkook, very willing to involve themselves and do what’s right.
And those are all my recommendations!
I would love to know if you agree with any of my choices, and if you have any you’d suggest. It was so fun working on this post and I cannot wait to work on future posts in the series.
If you liked this post, consider buying me a coffee? Ko-Fi.
