Let’s Play A Game - Get Whatever You Like

Hello guysss! Today I’m here to tell you how I got my NYU acceptance letter despite “circumstances.” And you can get whatever you want too, with the one and only: placebo effect.

What is the placebo effect?

A placebo is anything that seems to be a "real" medical treatment -- but isn't. It could be a pill, a shot, or some other type of "fake" treatment. What all placebos have in common is that they do not contain an active substance meant to affect health. Source: WebMD

basically, how most people use placebo in terms of manifestation, is “if I do x, y will happen.” So I guess placebo is law of assumption w extra steps, I noticed now that I’m writing this.

Most people just use LOA as affirming stuff like “I have xyz” or listening to subs related to it - which is what I do most times. But sometimes when you can’t help doing something that you think will hinder your process, you can just turn that around. For ex. I really, I mean really like dreaming about my ideal gf lol. So when that gets a little too much I throw in some “Whenever I think about my ideal girlfriend/get sapphic thoughts I get even SMARTER” and voila :)

So the day is March 28th. Last week I had been rejected by 3 schools in a row. So I was like “I guess American republicans really want me back in my country 🩷”

Tbh I wasn’t having a great week. I was feeling pretty burnt out. And my application? If I told the bros on Reddit about my application they’d tell me I should go to community college and don't bother on an “elite” school 💀

for context! American 🇺🇸 applications use a “holistic” system so having great grades isn’t enough. You need a good SAT score, but you can go test optional. Though it will probably hurt your chances(that’s what they say.) you need like 29372928 extracurriculars, good awards and to have cured cancer basically. If you’re an international student your chances are even lower compared to American students.

So I was an international student w no SAT score, no APs offered in my school, hell no school profile(a profile of your school that admissions officers use to determine how you’re doing compared to the rest), submitted my English proficiency test a month late… anyways. With all that you’d think I’d be rejected no?

Let’s play a game!

Compared to the USA, it would’ve been night time here when the decisions came out. So I was like mhm. I still need to study for my other exams. So to focus better and to give placebo a try, I invented a little game: If I didn’t search up anything about NYU, didn’t check my portal, and basically not think about the school until the decision comes out I would have that acceptance letter in my hands!!

So I sat there patiently, studied physics and chem, some literature also. When it was 5 mins before the decision I washed up, had a glass of water and was like “for sure I must be accepted… Right? I’ve done everything correctly.”

anddd even though the portal took a lil too long to load, I eventually saw:

“Dear [insert my irl name], Congratulations! ….

and I was like a win is a win. Then I went and told everyone. Anyways I hope this helps and never think you’re not fit for something you want! Just make that fit you!

Ah! Thank you for the ask dear heart! Let's see...

Of course I have fics that are still deep in my drafts, and I also have a few unfinished fics currently published ON Ao3.

I don't really regret not publishing certain fics because it's not really a matter of if more than it is a matter of when. A few of these old ideas just need way more fleshing out and just aren't ready for the limelight.

And that "not if but when" mindset is carried over to my unfinished fics as well, like Baby Face and YWIW.

They'll eventually be completed. (Although tbh, I'm not so sure about ywiw now, may have to go and really take a good long look at that one and the goals I want to achieve with it. For YWIW, I guess I regret some of the choices I made with Frisk's character arc. Like I accidentally walked back on things that I shouldn't have. Sequels are hard, y'all.)

Now for my other UT ships? Hmmmm...

I'm gonna come out the gate swinging and say that I, first and foremost do not ship Asgore and Toriel. I think their dynamic is more interesting as a divorced couple. Boom. That'll stir the pot some.

(I have a lot of weird UT ships tbh)

Now, moving on to what I actually ship:

Asriel x Papyrus / Papsriel / Boneblossom

This stems more from how I wrote their dynamic in wdyw part 4 + ywiw. See, when Frisk and Sans are off doing hard main character work, Papyrus and Asriel were alone together a lot, working through both of their collective daddy issues together (their fathers were big ole villains and they were consoling each other about their relationships with their fathers, it was actually very sweet) Ergo, I began to ship.

But also, if you look at the game, there are instances of Asriel and Papyrus befriending, and Asriel manipulating him, or growing fond of Papyrus in his own way as Flowey. Yeah there's the problem of "well technically Asriel is a child!" Which like... Okay, he's also dead and immortal at the same time. In wdyw he died at an older age so... 🤷🏻‍♀️ It depends on where you take the story. I could also just ship them platonically. So yeah!

Undyne x Alphys / Alphyne

This one is obvious. They're canon. They're beautiful. I love gay people. I love lesbians. I am a gay people. I am a lesbian. I love them.

Also, low-key, I also just like to explore more of their dynamic than just lovey dovey sapphic stuff. The highs and the lows. And they're perfect to do that with.

Nick x Sans / Nicecream Guy x Sans

This one is unorthodox, but it's because of Baby Face. They're so gay in that fic like it's unbelievable. If not Sans, then definitely Nick. Like they've definitely explored each other's bodies at least once.

Also in wdyw, they have a more complex, complicated friendship since they're more like long lost friends, and the whole "you betrayed our ideals by joining Asgore's military" and Nick "you joined a rebellion that will never win, you've doomed yourself to martyrdom." Sans saving Nick from prison & the purge, ugh, they're so complex, I love em!

Nick is definitely gay. I know we were pushing for Alick but honestly... That boy is gay. And I really believe that. I think the only better pairing for him would be Napstablook, or... And I guess I'll concede to years of shipping before me... Burgerpants/Bryan. Because Bryan has that like, newly joined rebellion, starry eyes, just found out his crush was brutally murdered by one of Muffet's assassins, etc, and then there's Nick, shining hero of the revolution. I think it could work really well.

Muffet x Toriel / Muffriel / Spiderscotch

Bro even the name screams lesbian, wtf? This is like Everlark's alternative ship name being peenis.

BRO THEY LIVE IN THE RUINS TOGETHER, MUFFET SET UP SHOP IN THE RUINS. TORIEL BAKES PIES AND MUFFET BAKES FUCKED UP SPIDER DONUTS. THEY'RE A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN. (And I'm purely talking about classic, but who's to say that wdyw Muffet wasn't sneaking into the queen's chambers after killing her own husband and poisoning Toriel's daughter right under her nose? UGH THE DRAMA!!!!)

Ugh, I love my gay ships.

Anyway, Toriel is the sweet, albeit very flawed, old money, cottage core wife, and Muffet is the manipulative, borderline Machiavellian, macabre, new money, goth wife and they're PERFECT FOR EACH OTHER. I've never been more serious in my life.

Anyway, those are my UT ships that are not Frans. Don't come for me, I know they're unconventional (except for Alphyne) but I love them each dearly.

The world building and the visual arr really great! Maybe the plot is a little bland but whatever.

Audrey is an artist fr she just try to do her beloved job and then she's fucking murdered! Iconic!

Wilson sounds like he had smoked cement every day since he was six.

They really gendered the lost ones. ok. whatever.

I'm sorry but why the fuck you hype Porter in the promoting stuff and then give him three words and half minute on screen??

I'm not a great fan of the new ink demon's design. Through the open mouth is cool.

If you blink you miss Sammy scene in all the game.

Old batim characters like Wally, Shawn, Grant etc are present in written notes and audio records along with other random guys.

The books can't be canon? Like a lot of dates and places can't work in the batdr story. What the hell?? ? ???

Joey n Nathan are in competition for the most insufferable false cunt ever and they have both win the first prize🥇

Henry face reveal. It's not a bad design actually, very Henry-esque, but I really would have preferred it to remain unknown.

"She was the fourth" was actually about the the fourth Butcher Gang member, but beside a cartboard and a corpse there's nothing :(

Oh, thanks for asking! :D

I'll start off by saying I'm somewhat of a multishipper, as I enjoy and ship many ships at the same time, even those with same characters 👁👁

That being said-

I really enjoy mc ships. What I really love about hpma fandom is how creative it is with each MC's (and other ocs in general) personalities and how great they work in dynamic with canon characters (mostly Cassandra, Ivy and Daniel from what I've noticed). And tbh, I kinda envy them in a way, cuz my ass can't ship my mc with Dan despite me wanting to 😭😭😭 (I mean, I have Melly/Cass but it's not exactly mc/canon ship).

If we're talking about mc as a character within the game, I enjoy think their dynamic with characters like Cass, Dan, Ivy and Lottie. They are really adorable and if romance option happens I'm pretty sure it'll be ever cuter! 👁👁

Anyway, mc ships for the win!

I do enjoy most non-mc ships and if anything, I'm more of the active shipper for those :"D

I do have ships I don't particularly like. Not that I hate them, if anything I find some of them cute, they're just... Not my thing. For reasons.

Speaking of ships I do enjoy, Kevin/Robyn (or Revin) is one of them! They have one of the cutest and most entertaining dynamics in the game and I honestly wish for them to become canon as soon as possible 👁👁 Really hope they won't end up together by Y7 cuz we need to see as much of them as a couple as possible 😭

I also enjoy any sapphic Cassandra ship, such as Cassivy, Cass/Lottie and Cass/Robyn(but mostly as a joke). I also fancy Ivy/Lottie quite a lot.

The rest I'm either more on a neutral side (as in, high chances are I'll find them cute but I won't go feral mode when I see them) or I don't particularly like(just not my thing, again)

As for Daniel/Cassandra...

I'm sorry guys, I truly am, but a time has come for me to come out as a CassDan shipper. It's a guilty pleasure ship of mine and I'm embarrassed of the fact I love this ship as much as I do😭😭😭 Year 3? Y3 what??? I don't know it haha (I'm in denial)

Like I swear, I have no idea why I like it am but I hate the fact that I do 😭😭😭

Anyway, THAT BEING SAID, there's a catch: ❗I quite frankly don't ship them as they are like canonically❗(which why I PERFECTLY understand those who reasonably hate this ship) as in I have sort of my own silly interpretation of their dynamic as frienemies/rivals sort of(which is what sidequests actually suggest but main storyline really doesn't agree with that), but like on equal level? As in,there isn't a power dynamic, like between a bully and a victim, they are being shit to each other without one having more significant advantage over the other. But again, that's my own personal interpretation. And that's the one I'm gonna stick with, thanks 😃😃😃

yeah that’s another thing im frustrated with. the only way we’ll win is if elmax scene is added on bc they tied/near tied, but honestly i can see stranger writers fucking that up somehow😭

hoo boy ok STRAP IN! i think maybe we have talked about this before on discord, oh well. i don't think coronabeth is fat in canon, and i'm just not into it in fanon. i think she's tall, i think she has big hair, i think she has big presence. i think she's got some bazongas and some curves and she's not as wasted-thin as ianthe. i think there is weight bias deeply entrenched in House culture (and that's not a criticism of tamsyn muir, i think it's an interesting part of her worldbuilding). the most iconic binary in this world is necromancer and cavalier: someone whose power literally eats away at them, and so thinness is evidence of necromantic strength; and someone whose purpose is to fight, and so muscleyness is ideal.

i think gideon, for example, is muscley fat. tamsyn described her as built like a rugby player, thick and solid. she only eats protein paste and greens and works out a LOT, she's achieving the cavalier ideal of muscle mass, and she lives in a freezing cold environment where the extra insulation of some fat is helpful. ortus, on the other hand, is not muscley--he's just fat. his size is perpetually derided in the narration. he fits nowhere on the binary of what's desirable in the Houses, and so he is utterly unattractive and therefore inconsequential.

coronabeth is the hottest girl anyone has ever seen. she's healthy-looking for a necromancer. she's the opposite end of the spectrum from ortus: also neither skinny nor muscley (until NtN when she's got some biceps), but in a vivacious way that makes everybody super into her. yes, because she's a woman and this is a sapphic series, but also because House culture has clearly held on to pre-Res standards of attractiveness. boobs, hair, a white girl with a great tan, probably a trendy amount of "thicc." i don't feel, personally, that fanon-ing her fat does me as a fat person any great service; it obscures any conversation on the actually interesting weight bias happening in the books that echoes and complicates the weight bias of everyday life. seeing a fat corona doesn't tell me that people think my body is traffic-stoppingly gorgeous or that i have value outside my attractiveness or non-attractiveness, it tells me that the only character who can afford to be consistently fat in fanon is the one who is repeatedly praised as the most attractive in canon, and that's only if she's sexy fat--bosoms breaching containment, pillowy and perfectly shaped hips and thighs and ass, just a little bit of belly and back rolls sometimes as a treat.

tbh if it's a kink thing, folks should do what floats their boats! but to me it's not some big representation win, just own the kink, make everybody sexy fat, whatever (i mean this genuinely, i am in favor of kink even though this is not one of mine).

so i guess my actual hot take is that i wish there was more ortus art and fic about how the strength of his love and conviction and lungs all saved the day and he did it while being fat and depressed and not sexy

theyre both 19, in college, and living in the same dorm

so it was a fine day and you were cuddling in bed with bridget, bridget was on her phone and you were too, i suddenly jumped out of her arms and she lightly gasps with a confused and shocked face and you told her “hey theres gonna be a pride protest nearby this afternoon do u wanna go” she excitedly said yes and i said “do u wanna make a sign for it” she also said yes to that. so u guys finally finished ur poster/signs after like 3 hours. u and bridget brought a pride flag and a sign that says “you are valid”. it is now the afternoon and you both go to the protest. u guys walked to the protest since it was really close to ur dorm. when you guys arrived you guys were following where everyone else was going and the protest started, you both yelled “LOVE WINS” and before you know it, it was already night time almost midnight and there was some sort of after party for the protest, there was dancing and smirnoff. when you guys were dancing bridget suddenly stopped and it honestly kinda shocked you for some reason, and tbh u cant help but think how good she looks with that oversized tshirt. bridget got on her knees and pulled out a ring. it was a gold ring with a pink heart in the middle. u gasped, being very shocked u covered ur mouth bc of how speechless u were, the next words that u heard was “y/n, will u be my soulmate forever” ur eyes bursted in happy tears and u happily said yes, u guys shared a long passionate kiss after, everyone was looking at u both and clapped.

Hey there! Well, let's get onto this:

16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)

I'm gonna be honest, I'm starting to get a little tired of the mean girl syndrome.

What do I mean with mean girl syndrome? I mean the tendency to flock towards the "mean girl" female character, you know the one, she's a bitch, she's posh, she's fashionable, there's a good chance she is rich too or privileged in one way or another, and seems to have a serious personal problem with the resident "loser" girl for whatever reason, she usually also a bully, you get the idea, and you'd think this character is only found in teen dramas, but when you look at it closer, almost every piece of media has a mean girl character, even anime and manga, although usually as a secondary or side character or sometimes the antagonist.

That's not a problem on its own, even if it's not necessarily my thing, I'm not condemning people liking her, or wanting to be her, or being attracted to her (you know the whole "I'd let her step on me" deal)

What is annoying in when people go like:

"Yeah, we took your resident mean girl, we enshrined her and washed away her flaws, we also made her lesbian or sapphic or some other queer identity for brownie points, because obviously the real problem all along was the other girl, who we've also took and forcibly fit her into the mold of the true monster, because if she didn't antagonize mean girl, if she wasn't a goody-two-shoes and boring, then mean girl wouldn't be troubled and wouldn't have to make her miserable, yeah sorry, no we can't take it back."

Notice what I'm talking about here? The mean girl in question is a mean girl because she's tormenti- sorry I mean, she's giving her well-deserved punishment to this other girl character who for one reason or another people can't project onto, so that means they dislike her, and in turn, they warp everything about both of them so the mean girl, is actually right all along, and honestly does that even make her a mean girl anymore? IDK.

And I make emphasis on the fact that despite switching the dynamic, people still very much pitch them against each other, because, again, people can't handle girls having bad feelings about men, so the mean girl is only mean to other girls, or alternatively the men she's mean to, are the ones who aren't likeable enough for the fandom to care, and even when they make the mean girl a queer character, they end up both warping ans justifying the meanness by saying the loser girl is "obviously" gender-conforming and cis, so that makes it okay? I guess?

Idk, I feel like I'm rambling a lot, bottom line, I usually don't like this type of character and I don't care for this part where fandoms kiss the ground they walk on, and then turn around and demonize the "good girl" like, it's a very weird version of the madonna and the whore complex if you ask me, so I'll stop here and get to the next question.

22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores

Mmm, what could it be? I can't say it's the synchro arc because even if a lot of people dislike it, they very much spent way too much time talking about it, a lot more than us, tbh.

Mmm, I know, people don't talk enough about the aftermath mini-arc!

I know because of what happened, Yuzu doesn't appear until the end, and i wouldn't call it flawless (*cough* Shun's duel *cough*) but I genuinely love how despite having their airing time cut short, the staff still kept this part, it would have been easy to just end it all after Zarc was defeated, but Arc v rarely went down the easy route.

Every single lesson Yuya learned in the series comes around full-circle, and closes the few loose ties left by the battle, literally, because as Yuya travels around to each duel, the remnants of the dimensions are closing and becoming one.

If I had to choose a favorite moment of all time for the aftermath, it would be that moment where Yuya fibally wins against Reiji, and he smiles! He smiles! A tiny little proud smile and what follows is so awe-inspiring, and then the whole arena is silent for a couple seconds, except the laugh of little Reira echoes all over the place and is slowly joined by a beautiful score, and then, as if wasn't already great, we get the shot where the dimensions are finally uniting and in turn Yuzu is starting to come back again from the limbo form she was trapped as and she says "I'm back home"

Beautiful, inspiring, great.

And people want me to buy into the narrative that the ending was ruined because *checks notes* the counterparts didn't get their bodies back.

Please, you're all weak and didn't deserve a series like Arc V.

OKAY SO LITTLE UPDATE AND SCATTERED THOUGHTS ON THE NEW EP

It turns out that removing 95% of your mods will improve the game's overall ability to run. Not shocking, but it's definitely a thing lol. I've also learned that some mods, while amazing conceptually, will probably not be added back into my game. This isn't on the modders: some mods are just so complex that I honestly can't keep up with them and therefore can't enjoy their features to the full extent. I do miss my custom recipes, wonderful whims, and a few lumpinou mods though (but that's really it so far).

I also removed all my custom sliders because I have no idea what is broken and what isn't at this point. Shocked to say I don't miss most of them, so I think it might be time I clean that folder out. I did, however, miss my presets!!! Especially body and mouth presets! Likely gonna tidy up those folders and then add those back in.

Kijiko eyelash remover seems to be working perfectly fine in my game, so if you use that one you are probably good to go.

The new pack's CAS items are good! I don't think I'm going to use a lot of it outside of sims in Tomarang, but that's okay. As of right now I am not planning to do an in-depth review of the CAS items because I pretty much just feel "fine" about all of it across the board: I don't hate anything but I'm not absolutely in love with anything either. Idk if I'm just feeling this way or if others are as well, but it seems like a lot of the items (especially the hairs) aren't really new and they're just modifications of things we already have... but that could be just me. I will say the cute dress with the slit up the side... chef's kiss. Needed more swatches though!

One unexpected item that I did love was the tea kettle!! I'm never buying a tea magic brewer or tea pot ever again. I never realized how badly I needed the ability to only make one cup of a tea/hot chocolate/coffee at time but it has been a game changer. I don't have much to say about the build/buy... it's all really nice. 🤷‍♀️ Wish there were more items that really stood out, but for the most part it's all just good, simple pieces with a few beautiful wall hangings (nice posters, a few good plants, love the baskets, standing toilet is a nice addition, adore the plastic garden chairs, etc.). Functional radiators, water tanks, etc. were fantastic additions with this pack and I would have been happy if they were just decor tbh (and was expecting them to be) but the fact that they aren't makes me very happy. Compatibility across packs is done far too rarely, so I'll let the sims team have this one crumb of a win.

I'm still testing this pack out so gameplay features are being dicovered bit by bit. Haven't ran into some of the big bugs people have been having, but I'm still early in the save and playing as a tenant (I stand by the fact that I have 0 interest being a property owner). The tester sim I made (Riley, she/they) vibed so hard with Vanesha Cahyaputri. Like the two of them have "amazing compatibility" and had full bar friendship almost instantly and I did not make Riley with any partner in mind... I didn't even know Vanesha was a canon lesbian! But they haven't had a single negative interaction soooo brb I'm on my way to make her over ASAP because I loooooovee a good sapphic friends to lovers arc. 😂

Lastly: I have some asks in my inbox. I swear I'm not ignoring you if you've messaged me, it's just been a chaotic few days as December is always so busy. I will answer them as soon as I can! Until the holidays are over I'll probably be posting sporadically! I'm still going to be here, but I'm enjoying just playing the game without any pressure to post about it.

Also, with updates breaking cc and sliders like crazy, it's unlikely I'll be sharing any sims outside of sim requests for a while. Ok, I went with ships (though I could write an essay on why Drew's song would be The Archer and why Misty’s would be Who I’ve Always Been), and I tried to include all the ones I could think of, whether they're my thing or not! Little bit for everyone, you know?If anyone wants my reasoning and analysis of WHY I chose songs or lyrics PLEASE ENABLE ME. I am but a deer tick in the long grass waiting for an unsuspecting victim to brush past and enable autism mode for me. This is no order at all, just random tbh. I chose the most relevant lyrics. Sometimes that’s three lines. Sometimes it’s half the song. The more or less lyrics does not equate to my opinion on the ship, some just felt more fitting than others.
