#also 'i don't necessarily want to present as a specific gender but i DO want people to be deeply confused about what they're looking at so'
being nonbinary in a world that refuses to acknowledge more than 2 genders is weird bc like. i've literally found myself thinking "what if i go on hormones so my parents misgender me but in a different way"

I always get so excited when a new account is made, I'm constantly on the hunt for sweet Nagito writing. Can I have sfw headcanons of Nagito with an s/o who loves baby-talking to him, and is into a little ageplay? (mommy dom). They're very verbally & physically affectionate and utterly love praising him (also love calling him pet names like precious, pretty, beautiful, baby boy, dove, angel, my hope, etc.). You can add nsfw hc if you want to, and as for gender, gender neutral (although, if you want a specific gender then female pls). Ofc, you don't have to write this if you don't want to. Thank you! 💗

synopsis: A requested variety piece of baby boy (sfw & nsfw) headcanons of Komaeda Nagito.
warnings: (sfw); pet names, gift giving, compliments, pining, cuddling, a bit of insecurity regarding his talent. (nsfw); pet names, blowjob, begging, desperation, praising, mommy kink.
a/n: i do apologize, it’s not necessarily ageplay, except for the nsfw bit. i tried to incorporate it into the sfw section but my brain turned off on me haha. but i do hope you enjoy it nonetheless! i love writing his character sm, he’s literally my main hyperfixation character in danganronpa atm. wc: 1.2k. m.list

~ nagito’s absolutely obsessed with you, like he’ll bring you little gifts from the beach he found to give to you (like a penguin), and he’ll present them to you with a grin on his face waiting for you to accept the treasures (this time, a white conch shell) which you do with open palms, a soft praise dripping from the corners of your mouth, ‘it’s beautiful just like you’ or ‘it matches the rays of hope you speak of, my love’; he’s so lucky to have you.
~ sometimes he wonders how you were so well made for him, nothing seemed to phase you, as well as his talent which didn’t even come close to touching you, not even remotely smothering you with bad luck; it was like you were an angel sent for him from the depths of his hell.
~ you never thought anything of it, just happy to finally have found someone that you could shower with affections and affirmations because God knows he needs that constantly, with his belittling self-esteem.
~ you tend to watch over him in every way you can, because due to his luck cycles, he can get hurt from the slightest thing, like that time he tripped over a rock and scraped his knee or that other time when you yanked a little too hard on his precious hair as you brushed it out for him, cooing a tiny ‘sorry, my little dove, it won’t happen again’ into his ear as you soothed his pain, and he’d grin up at you in thanks with that aloof smile you fell in love with.
~ he was your baby boy, you couldn’t bear to be away from him for too long, just like him who would sulk around whenever he wasn’t with you, wanting nothing more than to be held by you– cuddled in your embrace with a blanket wrapped around the both of you.
~ he wanted nothing but your doting kisses upon his flushed cheeks, wanted nothing but your sweet muses whispered into his ear, telling him that he’s enough, wanted nothing but you next to him, always and forever.
“Nagito love, you’re doing just fine.”
“I don’t feel like I am.”
You kissed the top of his forehead, letting his head fall more into your chest and he pouted up at you, promptly asking for a kiss, which of course you obliged happily. “My darling, don’t think too much about it.”
He huffed into your shoulder, burying his face there. You threaded your fingers into his hair, playing with the tangles that intertwined the locks and you hummed to yourself as you felt him relax underneath your touch. He loved your touch, the stress seemed to melt away from the crevices of his mind whenever you were around him, taking care of him with a soft expression on your face.
“I’m here for you always, you’re my hope after all.” You reminded him, your voice firm with affection. The viscosity of the word had flown in all directions as he talked about it for hours on end. It was so enchanting to you and you delivered it back to him on multiple occasions, my hope. The first time you said it to him, he nearly bawled from how delighted he was to be called something so jovial.
“Will you still be here when my luck falters?” He asked with a curious tone, looking back up at you and you captured him into an endearing kiss. He returned it, holding onto your waist in a tight embrace. You traced imprints into his skin, tiny hearts and squiggles drew from your fingertips and he welcomed it with contentment.
“Always and forever.”

~ when he’s not being doted upon in the midst of public, it’s brought to the bedroom, the intimacy still holding strong when you make him lay on the bed with the quiet phrase, ‘on your back for me pretty’ and he has to try so hard not to get too excited, but the poor thing’s harder than you could ever imagine.
~ ‘mommy’ll rid your clothes, okay? No need to do anything yourself, gonna take good care of you.’
~ nagito’s whole demeanor breaks, like he basically short circuits as you slide off his clothes with nimble hands, nothing but the cool air hitting his skin and the utter warmth of your breath sinking down onto him. he’s resting by the near edge of the bed now, his knees pressed up against your cheeks as you take good care of him, whilst whiney ‘mommy’s’ are flowing from his mouth, the only time he ever really gasps for breath.
~ he’s also fond of your appraisal in bed, perhaps even more than you think. he’ll beg for the way your fingers wrap around him all to hear ‘such a good boy’ when he moans out in hazed pleasure, seeking more and more with every desperate thrust into your hand.
~ when he cums, it’s quick, he always cums so fast when he’s with you, like its too much for him to take, but you always coax him through it, the intimacy pouring from you lets him know that you enjoy this too, enjoy watching him fall apart, enjoy being his caretaker in the darkest of nights and the brightest of days, enjoy being his mommy praising the angel that he is-
~ and you sometimes have to calm him down, from the sheer intensity of his excitement, he tends to behave more like an insolent child who wants more candy. he’d plead for you to kiss him, touch him all over, praise him, need him, need him more than anything else, and you’d do everything he asked of you; because he’s your baby boy and how could you ever say no?
His thighs pressed into your cheeks as he grinded into your mouth unintentionally, the warmth getting to him. Nagito just couldn’t stop moving and you huffed out a bit from your nostrils, pulling away from his cock that had been nestled deep.
“Baby boy, please stop moving for me.” You asked politely, rubbing his outer thigh with a free hand. You rested the other against his waist, rubbing circles in order to soothe him as he twitched against you. “You’re doing so well for me, but you have to stop squirming.”
“M’ sorry.” The words came out of his mouth quicker than you expected, flowing with desperation and apologeticness. “I’ll be good, I promise.”
You took him back in your mouth and his fingers clutched the loose strands of your hair, pulling with fervor. You moaned around him and he bucked up in the heat of your mouth again, a quiet whine hitching in the back of his throat. You pulled off slightly, but as you did, you heard Nagito plea and his hands trembled in your hair.
“Please, no! I’ll be good, don’t stop please, please-” He panted out, pushing your head down slightly and you pinched his thigh with a wistful groan. “I’m so close, please mommy…”
How could you say no when he was so close, so far gone, you surely could give him what he begged for, couldn’t you? You sank further your mouth onto his cock, tongue lapping at the base and he came instantly, a string of whimpers flying from his mouth.
You couldn’t praise him then but when he came down from his high, you were sure to shower him with love with ‘such a good boy for me’ spilling from your lips as you wiped off his cum from them.

this isn't @ anyone or any particular post, but. I do find myself questioning whether it's useful to distinguish "anti-masculism" from like... misogyny and patriarchy.
maybe it's just me, but narrowing the definition of "misogyny" to just describe contempt for women, specifically, has never felt super accurate to me; the overall system of oppression being described here isn't just about a dislike of women, it's a functioning system (patriarchy) relying on, and as a product of, systemitized misogyny. It's misogyny in a dominant role of power.
And that system (as it currently exists) also requires that gender roles are strictly followed and fulfilled, including by men. It requires no deviance; no queerness and no transness. It requires that women be babymakers and caretakers and sexual gratifiers, and it requires that men be protectors and dominant breadwinners, and seek out sex. (Among other things)
I think it's helpful to expand our understanding of misogyny to include the aspects of it that necessarily impact men; it's not just the toxic masculinity that hurts others, but the system that rewards and punishes conformity to misogynistic gender roles.
"Anti-masculism" feels like it's trying to describe an aspect of this; the way this system views masculinity as brutal and violent and monstrous, especially in relation to men of color, and as a corrupting force- particularly when in contact with (whoever patriarchy views as) women.
And these things exist, and happen, but (obv) so does a mirrored phenomena for femininity; are we calling that "misogyny", to the exclusion of attitudes toward masculinity? Because I don't think it's accurate- and tbh I think it's actively counterproductive- to define that by gendered expression rather than perceived gender.
I honestly think it does more to say that these are all a part of misogyny, and to identify contempt for certain expressions of masculinity as being inherently, necessarily intertwined with other parts of misogyny. Patriarchy relies on all of these things to function, and we need to get folks to understand that challenging these attitudes toward masculinity is, in fact, a crucial part of the fight against patriarchy.
I don't think it works to say "misogyny" is an umbrella term that enconpasses all of this, and that "anti-masculism" just falls under it, either; just practically speaking, I don't think it's helpful to differentiate this particular thing as separate from similar attitudes toward femininity. It's super easy to separate the word from that context (esp without a counterpart for femininity), and while I hate having to factor in optics, I do think there's a parallel here to "transmisandry" in the possible interpretation of the word to mean that men are oppressed/misogyny doesn't exist. Even if we know that's not the intent.
And I don't think it accounts for differences between how either of these manifest for cis vs. trans people, gender-conforming vs. GNC people, straight vs. queer people, white people vs. people of color, etc.; how and why it shows up is gonna be wildly different based on whether you're being presumed more masculine or feminine because of your race, size, or disability status, or whether you're being punished for not conforming to gender expectations one way or another- which will also look different for trans people who present more in line with what's expected of their AGAB vs. their actual gender.
Also- I'm saying this here because I'm open to discussion. I feel like I've read enough about it by this point to have an opinion, but I could absolutely be lacking some crucial info, insight, or perspective, and I want folks to engage with this as a mutual conversation.

Okay i might be a little pissed off. Expect typos, im on my phone.
A character does not need a specific label, have a gender, nor have sex/romantic physical gestures in order to be queer rep
Aziraphale and Crowley are not gay men.
They are played by male actors. They present male most of the time. But that means nothing, because gender presentation =/= gender identity or sex.
Neil has said multiple times that angels and demons are sexless. It's on the book. It's on several of his tweets and answers to asks. This implies that angels and demons are non-binary by default. Gabriel isn't a man, Michael isn't a woman, Beelzebub isn't a woman, Furfur isn't a man.
And now, you could argue that a genderless creature isn't necessarily queer and I agree! Several animals are genderless irl.
But here's what makes them queer: it's not that they don't have a gender, it's that they don't give a fuck about it. Crowley presents female i believe up to three times in the show, Neil was planning a minisode where both he and Aziraphale are fem-presenting in the 60s; Michael is a male angel name and he's played by an actress and (At least in the portuguese dub? Correct me if im wrong) still called "he". Same for Beelzebub, who I think is also reffered to with they/them in english. Hell, God has a female voice and is still called God (the male version of the word!!!) and even Her pronouns are a bit flexible in certain dubs.
What makes them queer is that their genderless aspect isn't just biological, it's their identity, too. These characters are all non-binary, they know it, and they don't mind it.
"But they present male and call each other 'he'!"
As I said, gender presentation does not equal identity and neither does pronouns. It's words: words that get often associated with a certain gender but are, in the end, just words.
Not only that, but this argument also comes from the expectation that non-binary people cannot present themselves in a binary way, which is an absurd thing to expect. People irl have all kinds of different hormonal balances and many enby folk may be hypermasculine or hyperfeminine due to high testosterone or estrogen respectively. And you know what? They might not want to change that, and that is completely fine.
Non binary people do not owe you androginy.
Being trans isn't about appearances, isn't about transitioning, it's about identity. Thinking otherwise is borderline transmedicalist ideology.
Good Omens breaks gender norms all the fucking time in both seasons, something many shows are afraid to do, and it's not just for comedy reasons, which tends to be the norm when shows do it. They do it because it's fun, it's fine, and because they acknowledge that gender norms are stupid.
That's queer as hell.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My second point, no need for labels. Just like angels and demons don't need gender labels, they don't need sexuality labels. At all. Especially since they're often intertwined.
Just because two characters don't have their specific labels revealed doens't mean they aren't queer or, fuck's sake, don't love each other.
In A League Of Their Own, no characters get specific labels, what they are is simply implied. Greta is very implied to be lesbian but they never say the exact word. Does that mean she isn't queer?
In The Song Of Achilles, no characters get specific labels because hell, the labels didn't exist at the time the story takes place in. Both main characters are implied to be bi/pansexual but it's obviously never told in the text. Does that mean they aren't queer?
In Undertale and Deltarune, no characters get specific labels, but in both games the main protagonist is nonbinary (and is in both cases a human being!) and both games have several mlm and wlw couples and several more nonbinary characters across the storyline, but it's never specifically labeled. Does that mean it doesn't have queer rep?
Neil has said several times that Good Omens is a love story, that Aziraphale and Crowley love each other, that even if they're not 'gay male humans' they still feel love for one another. That's the entire point of season two.
And now, I get it, okay? I don't like authors tip-toeing around labeling their characters either, especially since in most places we are past the age of having to code characters instead of just make them openly queer. I get the fear and uncertainty that often came from some sort of trauma from bbc's Sherlock, I felt it too. I get that for some it may seem as if it's queerbaiting, or pink money, or simply being too scared to say a character is queer.
But that's just not the case with Good Omens. The point is not to avoid labels because they're scary. The point is that, for Good Omens, and aziracrow, labels are useless. They're not humans, they don't have a gender, they don't need the labels.
And you know what?
That's also queer as hell.
Society has to put people into boxes, has to separate folk, has to label everyone. No one can be different, and id you are you need to fit this specific box of different. If you go out, you're too much, you're too rebellious, you're a freak. If they just let people do whatever they wanted it would be hard to marginalize them and keep the system going.
A quote I once heard feels important for this occasion:
"To define yourself is to restrain yourself."
When you define something in strict terms you're putting rules to it. Rules that can be broken. Rules that should be broken. And the rulebreakers get insulted, hated, violated, killed.
Aziraphale and Crowley are breaking these rules by 'existing' as who they are. They're not gay men, they're not lesbian women, they're not bisexual agenders, but at the same time they are all of those things at the same time, whenever they want to, whenever YOU want them to, as Neil himself put it. Because fuck labels. And you're hating them for it, hating them because they're refusing to enter those boxes.
Humans are weird and complex. Let the angels and demons be weird and complex too.
Lastly, queer relationships don't need sex - nor kisses.
There's this expectation that romantic love is only true love if they kiss, if they live together, if they sleep on the same bed, if they go on dates, if they marry, if they have kids, if they have sex. Break one of these and people will raise an eyebrow. Break two and they look at you weird. Break three and everyone judges you. Break all of them and, suddenly, you and your partner have been declared "just friends" by outsiders who don't know you in the slightest.
Welcome to amatonormativity.
Or, better saying, another stupid box, another set of rules.
There's this headcanon that Crowley kisses Aziraphale as a last resort not because it's a gesture if love (even Neil said it wasn't out of love) but because he's seen it in human movies and, in movies, kissing someone in despair is a cliché that often ends in the other person not leaving.
This wasn't a love kiss. But Crowley still loves Aziraphale. Do you know why?
Because angels and demons, most likely, do not need human gestures to show love. They, most likely, comprehend love in an entirely different light.
Maybe Aziraphale is touchy with Crowley because he likes it and that is a good enough reason, but it's an individual reason, just like a person irl might be more fond of hugging their partner than kissing them, and that's fine. Nothing wrong with it. There's no right or wrong way to have a relationship. Acting like there is is reinforcing the rules set by amatonormativity, and it is also completely disregarding the experiences of asexual and aromantic folk. The entire spectrums btw.
Now think about the rules I mentioned earlier. Must kiss, must fuck, must marry etc.
Aziracrow also breaks almost all of them.
That's also queer as hell!!!
Being queer and celebrating pride isn't about having labels. It's about breaking societal norms: heteronormativity, cisnormativity, mononormativity, amatonormativity, etc. Norms that are used to opress us, to put us in boxes, to separate us, to marginalize us, and to kill us.
A show that gives the middle finger to all of these and just tells its story however way it likes, not caring about labeling the characters or having a long monologue about homophobia or showing a explicit sex scene between the two characters or following any of those stupid rules imposed by society, a society ran by cishet folk, is as queer as a show can ever be.
To deny that is to reinforce a narrative that is literally used to opress us.
That's all, bye.
Also, some of you guys are giving "I call beez she/her because of the actress" and that's cringe, but not surprising, ngl.

the whole "trans men male privilege" thing basically reveals to me that at the end of the day people's perception of a trans man is "(usually) white guy who has access to hrt, has been on it for 5+ years, has had bottom and top surgery, and won the genetic lottery". like.
what are the chances of someone being this lucky, lets be serious. and don't get me wrong, i'm sure there are transmascs who can not only pass, but are completely stealth. but for the vast majority of us?
not an option. testosterone is a restricted substance, gender clinics where i live have a 5+ year waiting list, and doing it privately is expensive (my brother is currently transitioning completely privately). top surgery costs at minimum £5k. bottom surgery? 2-3x that.
not to mention there will always be those of us who don't want to opt for one of them, or choose not to — and bc of this, it's kinda insane to me to be like, "well, if ur gonna cling to ur agab, why even transition" esp when those specific conversations are not actually "clinging" to it, so much as discussing how our body, and the body we inhabit, is the subject of legislature.
like at the end of the day the assumption is not only "well all trans men pass and are stealth (two diff things!)", but that trans men necessarily always /want/ to pass or conform to a very rigid and narrow image of masculinity. (and some people expect us too as well!)
some of us, we're never gonna pass. partially bc it holds no interest for us to present ourselves differently for said 'privilege', and partially bc we're unfortunately not gonna by virtue of our genetics. and some of us, well, we don't even have access to hrt, or puberty blockers, by virtue of where we live.
legal documents? in my country, your birth name is considered as belonging to the state. any attempt to change your name is already a hefty legal process, and it's actually immediately rejected if you are switching to a name of a different sex, requiring you to change your sex/gender marker first. and to do that? you have to take your parents to court.
yeah. hire a whole lawyer to represent you, file a complaint, have an entire gender certificate, and actually submit your case to a court which can ask you invasive and transphobic questions. it's literally easier for me to get a passport in a different country than it is to change my name with my current one.
Yep!!
You also kind of highlighted it without directly saying it but "[ the hypothetical straw trans man in question ] is USAmerican" is another identity to add to that list of assumptions often being made as well honestly.
Viewing an entire community through the lense of its most hypothetically privileged members will always fuck your perception of that community up. It happens to trans men a lot in conversations like these - and also it happens to trans women a lot in conversations on transitioning and passing and accessibility too honestly, just based on convos I've had with my ex as she's been coming out and building more trans fem community around herself.
Like, in reality, most people aren't able to transition in the ways they want/need to for so many different reasons - though usually because of systemic legal reasons and systemic economic reasons like you've described. Especially in the case of testosterone HRT - which does not have a gray market like estrogen and can plant you in serious legal trouble due to its controlled status.
Ultimately we're all fighting for security within systems that were explicitly not made for us and ultimately we're stronger combatting them together. Hopefully people realize that sooner rather than later.

Our love is like a never ending meadow ♡
General idea: My favorite hsr characters romantic headcanons.
Featured characters: Kafka, Blade, Dan Heng, March 7th, Welt Yang, and Jing Yuan
Warnings:
Reader's gender: Gender neutral
A/N: I went a little crazy for March 7th and the ones past her and it has a very different vibe from the rest but I just felt a little bit silly
━━━━⊱Kafka⊰━━━━
Tumblr media
🔾 A relationship with Kafka is very casual, and has a general "go with the flow" type consistency to it.
🔾 While it is quite casual, she still can be very romantic.
🔾 Her love language(s) would be words of affirmation and gift giving. She often will buy you stuff when she sees something that reminds her of you.
🔾 She will often buy you clothes that she thinks would look cute on you, as she's very well-versed in fashion and such.
🔾If you are a Stellaron hunter along with her, she doesn't feel as strong of a need to protect you, as she figures that you should probably know how to hold your own in battle, and she figures that you have the intelligence to know how to stay safe.
🔾 If you aren't a Stellaron hunter, she has a much more protective nature when it comes to you. She won't let you get involved in anything that has to do with her work, and she feels the need to be near you whenever you're out. It's not that she doesn't trust you necessarily, she just doesn't want to mess up and let you get hurt.
━━━━⊱Blade⊰━━━━
Tumblr media
🔾 If you are dating him, know that he is definitely head over heels for you. He would be the type of person to never feel romantic or sexual attraction until he met "the one" or whatever you want to call it.
🔾 He genuinely loves you, but romance is very foreign to him, please be patient with him.
🔾 Like Kafka with being protective if you're not a stellaron hunter, but this time even if you are he's really protective of you. He doesn't know what he'd do if you got hurt or died :(
🔾 His love language is quality time, just try to change my mind. I dare you.
🔾 He doesn't believe gift giving to make sense, as it feels odd to him. He doesn't like words of affirmation (specifically giving words of affirmation) because he doesn't know how, and despite being kinda touch starved, he is not a fan of physical touch, unless you've been together for like a really long time. he'd never bring it up though because he's scared of rejection (he's just like me fr). He has nothing against acts of service, he just prefers quality time.
━━━━⊱Dan Heng⊰━━━━
Tumblr media
🔾 He's not extremely focused on romance, and doesn't wish to go out of his way to be in a relationship, but he still enjoys being in one if he likes the other person.
🔾 He's a casual yet loyal lover. He doesn't show his love too often, but when he does it's clear that he's serious about how he feels.
🔾 He's not really one for romantic things. He'll buy you stuff every once in a while (and they're really thoughtful gifts too though. Like he is amazing at picking out presents for people), and do other things like going on dates with you sometimes, but usually won't feel inclined to
🔾 His love language is words of affirmation and acts of service. He also likes quality time though, but he easily gets burnt out from social situations, whether you both are in public, or alone.
🔾 He doesn't understand social cues (he's autistic and just like me fr) so you sometimes will have to guide him through things to do with social interactions
━━━━⊱March 7th⊰━━━━
Tumblr media
🔾 She is so silly and ajdfnvljfdnvljdfnv. She is a hopeless romantic and I just KNOW IT. She is just like me fr
🔾 She, unlike Dan Heng, loves romantic things. She will take you on dates, buy stuff for you, MEMORIZES YOUR FAVORITE FLOWER AND BUYS IT FOR YOU ALL THE TIME.
🔾 She does want to have the romantic things reciprocated for her though, and will feel kinda neglected if you don't at least make an effort.
🔾 She is very hyper. VERY HYPER. She will be the sun to your moon. The light to your dark. The BTW creature/ADHD creature to your TBH creature/Autism creature. She is everything and she is soooooo silly
🔾 i think I'm projecting onto her too much but IDC SHE'S SO COOL
🔾 She loves you so soso much and is very loyal.
🔾 HER TAKING YOU OUT TO DO PHOTOGRPAHY STUFF TOGETHER >>>>>>>>>>>>>>
🔾 yeah I'm not okay she is so silly
━━━━⊱Welt Yang⊰━━━━
Tumblr media
🔾 Dilf
🔾 Sorry...
🔾 Anyways........ he is a very attentive lover, AND OMG HE WOULD 10000000000000000000000% CALL YOU STUFF LIKE "DEAR", AND "MY LOVE" AND AWOOOGGAAAAAA
🔾 Anyways.
🔾 I do not know what I am writing but I am smiling so hard right now
🔾 His love language is both gift giving and quality time just try to prove me wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!
🔾 I think it would be difficult to get in a relationship with him. He seems to be the type to wait like months before even bringing up going on a date, and he likely wouldn't be the one to bring it up anyways.
🔾 He is so babygirl
🔾 IDK WHAT TO WRITE FOR HIM SORRY THIS IS A SHORT ONE SDFKHVBDFJLVNFDLJN
━━━━⊱Jing Yuan⊰━━━━
Tumblr media
🔾 he is so..... MMVKJNDFLVMDFLKMDFKJDFLJVDJ
🔾 Like hey babygirllllll
🔾 I'll stop now
🔾 Anyways,,,,,,, super attentive lover pt. 2!!!!
🔾 I luv him he would be so kind and stuff and jndvljdfvndfjlnvldfnl
🔾 he would genuinely be a really casual, yet really romantic and sweet lover
🔾 I honestly forget his character mostly so this very well could be ooc
🔾BUT HE SEEMS SOOSOSOSOSOOSOSOSOOOOOO SWEET AGHHHHHHHHHHHHH
🔾 This is another short one because i'm getting lazy so it's mostly just my ramblings, but i don't trust myself to continue because I am going to go feral for this man istg.
ANYWAYS UHHHH HOPE YOU LIKED IT MAKE SURE TO SMASH THAT LIKE BUTTON AND SUBSCRIBE 🔥🔥🔥‼️‼️‼️

The fully sane to fully insane TRA progression:
"I'm a man, but I don't feel comfortable actively conforming to traditionally masculine gender roles."
Nothing wrong with that! Gender is bullshit anyways.
"I'm a man, but I feel more comfortable actively conforming to traditionally feminine gender roles."
Cool. You do you.
"I'm a man, but I have a mental disorder that makes me deeply uncomfortable with being male. In addition to presenting and acting in a traditionally feminine manner, I would like to be recognized socially as a woman and addressed as 'she/her' in order to more easily manage the distress that results from my condition."
Okay. That's fine I guess.
"I'm a woman who was incorrectly identified as male at birth. I am not meaningfully distinct from biological women and therefore am entitled to exist in single sex, female only spaces, and to speak on behalf of women as a group. Women as a class should change the language they use to discuss their bodies and their oppression in order to make me more comfortable even though many of such discussions necessarily do not involve me. Women are to blame if I am the victim of male violence, especially women who are concerned about the issue of male violence. If I don't have access to a lifetime supply of medically unnecessary hormones and receive multiple invasive cosmetic surgeries in order to make my body appear more female, I will become suicidal, but also I am not mentally ill. Calling my condition, which causes me daily psychological distress, a mental illness is hate speech."
Um...
"What even is a woman, anyways? I know I'm a woman, because I identify as a woman, and that's what it means to be female. Gender isn't real and doesn't exist. But also transgender identities are real and valid and trans women are discriminated against because their gender is female. Sex is an arbitrary nonbinary social construct just like gender, also sex has nothing to do with gender. But also I would like my penis to become a vagina in order to alleviate my gender dysphoria. Sex based oppression isn't real, only gender based oppression is, and it is a totally random coincidence that the concept of gender happens to benefit the penis people at the expense of the vagina people 99% of the time. The existence of intersex birth defects demonstrates that humans are not a gonochoric species. No one is born male or female. A clitoris is just a very tiny penis, and a penis is just the outie version of a vagina, and sex organs don't determine whether someone is male or female. I still really want a vagina specifically though because I am female and females have vaginas. Homosexuality has nothing to do with sex and being exclusively same sex attracted is morally wrong. I think minors should be allowed to take cross sex hormones and receive cosmetic surgery but also no one is saying that shut up stop lying. I don't have a mental illness, that would be bad and gross, I'm perfectly normal and dysphoria is perfectly healthy, and you must literally want me to die if you think otherwise, how dare you be so hateful towards mentally ill people. Not giving in to my every demand and actively catering to my desires is literally partipating in genocide. Choke on my cock and die you misogynist!"

an interesting aspect of criminal minds is how constantly and continuously other people - especially women - acknowledge that reid is a sexually appealing target for men to enact sexual violence on / toward
men in cop shows will irregularly acknowledge less masculine men's sexual appeal as a kind of implicit threat of sexual violence and also as a way to show/display how dominant/masculine they are themselves
like derek hanging a rape whistle around reid's neck is a joke at reid's expense, but that "playful" emasculation is as much about his own status as an alpha male and his position in the pecking order as it is about reid
when women acknowledge it or make jokes about it, like garcia saying that if the two of them go to prison reid is going to be someone's bitch, she's not positioning herself as dominant to reid
she's making a joke about what's a realistic state of affairs
yes, it's a rape joke told at reid's expense, but like. it's also just dark humour at what garcia knows is the REALITY of his situation, and how appealing he is to other men as a target to victimize bc of his relative effeminacy and his prettiness
and i entirely understand some people's disdain for the obsession w reid bc like, yeah, part of the reason fans find him so appealing is bc he's so thin and white, and that's why other characters are often demonised to further show him as a perfect and desirable victim
esp in contrast to morgan as a Black man and to the diff women in the series
but for a show to like. acknowledge a man as someone who'd be a rapist's first target, including over the women in the room, not necessarily by gay men but just bc of a combo of traits is. SO MUCH to me
reid frequently refers to his intellect as the reason that he got bullied, but it's about that and his autistic traits in combination w like... not just a skinny, gangling frame and big eyes and pale skin and floppy hair and his dated, soft clothes, but also just
his gender is nerd. there's a queerness to him. it's partly MGG himself and partly the way MGG plays him, but reid comes off as queer even to straight people - they don't know if he's a closeted trans woman or a bisexual or just a male rape victim
but they know he's queer.
they know he's not A Cis Straight Man, they know that he's doing gender Wrong and Badly
and for this, a lot of people meet him - esp in the hypermasculine environs of law enforcement and also prisons etc - and immediately want to punish his gender transgressions
and they want to punish those transgressions specifically with sexual and/or drawn-out intimate violence
just like they do to real-life gay boys and transfems and any other man or "man" who seems too queer to them
and god esp from a cop show like. so many cop shows are about these dynamics but don't actually acknowledge them in most episodes bc it's icky and unpleasant bc why would any good rapist (eg your average cop) want to rape a man
whereas for all its many many MANY flaws, it's so present in criminal minds from the get-go, and to have it in a regular, recurring char from the start and to have it constantly acknowledged is part of why this show is such catnip to me

i'm ngl it's because i recently read fight club, But i'm thinking a lot lately about castration and the true/deepest implications of it irt nero and sporus and tom and greg. obviously we've got tom's line about greg being "castrated on pay" and some pretty solid analysis on that being a matter of tom keeping greg dependent on him, but tbh even with said meta posts...
like, i'm sorry, but it's a weak line. it feels just as strangely on the nose as shiv falling down the stairs, and in fact like a line that exists specifically to match shiv falling. it almost even seems like a last-minute rush to complete Following Up The Nero And Sporus Thing, like they did the first part and managed to get all the way to the last episode before realizing they'd forgotten to do the second thing, so they had to reach for anything they could relate castration to without having to film a new scene. this feels especially evident/likely in the fact that there is NO way greg's salary is actually getting docked to the degree that tom implied. it's markedly disappointing, too, in the way that setting it up with shiv literally falling down stairs had the audience looking forward to how the rest of the overt symbolism would play out. castration on pay was the most mundane and least expected possible conclusion, lol. and not at all on par with the literal fall. like if that is the castration we were actually waiting for the whole time...
it's also all overkill, for that matter, considering that the s3 finale fit "pushed his wife down the stairs and married sporus" thing perfectly fine and a perfect amount of vague. like tom ALREADY betrayed shiv, symbolically "killing" her, and had an ancient-roman-wedding-handshake agreement with greg about his soul. even tom and greg's initial dynamic in the final season often feels like that of a married couple. which begs the question: why have the stuff in s4 on top of that? it may very well be simply one of the many marks of s4's drop in quality, caused by a myriad of irl factors. or it could possibly be on purpose to specifically bring home something else about the nero and sporus story. maybe it's to reinforce the tomshiv divorce and also tom and greg's marriage after all the rapid shifts in dynamic. who knows.
but what i DO know is that i wanna get to the bottom (lol) of the castration symbolism/motif. so i'm gonna go through everything that could possibly inform the audience's interpretation.
i'll start with the least significant, which i believe is the reality of castration in ancient rome and in the circumstances around the irl nero and sporus. part of why this falls on the bottom rung is the fact that historical accounts of nero especially with sporus are hotly contested. another reason is that the story tom tells is one that not only omits many details in a technically misleading/recontextualizing way, but also adds details that are present in no known accounts.
so: WHY was sporus castrated? there are 2 main possibilities/reasons.
to maintain his youthful [and therefore feminine] beauty. the real sporus was most likely around 16 when nero had him castrated. and the practice of castration to preserve youth had precedence. basically, twinks were REALLY in. it's alleged that sporus may have already been more effeminate (and sexually attractive) than average. but it's also said that sporus bore an uncanny resemblance to poppaea, which nero chose him for specifically and wanted to maintain.
in order to marry him with legal/social sanction. ancient roman society, rather than being built upon the heterosexual, was more built upon the Top/generally masculine. Eunuch was a gender class/category essentially equivalent with Woman, which allowed sporus to specifically be nero's wife. this didn't mean that his marriage to sporus was necessarily seen as good and normal, only technically acceptable.
and i have a ways more to go with the analysis but i'm gonna say right here that i do not think the first reason bears any significance to tom and greg. firstly due to that there is no textual evidence that tom wants greg to be explicitly feminine, even compared to himself, and a LOT to the contrary. tom consistently invites greg to join him in performing masculinity and gaining power through it, case in point the "let's fight like chickens" scene that directly follows the nero and sporus story. secondly, sporus's possible resemblance to poppaea does not track to greg and shiv more than incidentally; greg being shiv's cousin doesn't directly earn tom anything. but more importantly, imo, is the fact that what would have made nero want sporus to look like poppaea is in direct contrast with both the story tom tells AND the way their arc plays out.
so NOW, to demonstrate this, let's look at the irl poppaea's death/murder, which happened during her second pregnancy. different historians (even those alive at the time) have different theories for how it went down. who knows how much truth they're based in, bc there's a clear heavy bias against nero, but they're all we have anyway and therefore all tom would have had. here they are:
nero kicked her in the stomach in a fit of rage, while she was fighting with him about how much time he spent at the races (main theory/rumor)
nero kicked her in the stomach in a casual outburst
nero "leapt upon her belly" either accidentally or on purpose
nero poisoned her (uncommon rumor, most likely bs)
she died through no fault of nero's at all, simply bc of complications with her pregnancy (this has the most evidence, and is believed by many modern historians)
you'll notice a complete lack of stairs-related death theories, and in fact a near total lack of Nero Purposefully Murdered Poppaea theories. the general idea is that nero deeply mourned poppaea's death (and was remorseful, if it was his own fault), and proceeded to replace her with sporus, even calling him by her name.
which feels like a good segue into the more significant story of nero and sporus to analyze: the one that TOM told.
Sporus was a young slave boy. He was Nero's favorite. And, uh... you know what Nero did to him? Well, Nero... pushed his wife... down the stairs. And then he had Sporus castrated and he married him instead. And he gave him a ring. And he made him dress up like his dead wife. ...I'd castrate you and marry you in a heartbeat.
without looking into the actual story, this would sound like nero murdering his wife in order to marry sporus. with bringing up sporus first, it even sounds like nero met sporus and started favoring him prior to killing poppaea. which is also overtly analogous to tom and greg's relationship arc.
despite what tom must have read in his book, and what one could very easily imagine him, a Wife Guy, latching onto in that book... tom isn't telling greg about the tragedy of an emperor who accidentally killed his wife and then had to replace her with a young boy. tom literally invents a method of death that there is NO preexisting source for. furthermore he chooses one that does not sound remotely unintentional. at best he keeps in line with themes that suggest a violent miscarriage. but he removes all notions of an accident. he turns it into an unambiguous, purposeful uxorcide.
so, since all notions of trying to keep sporus looking like poppaea are not only unfitting as potential parallels, but also utterly irrelevant to the version of events that tom tells, and since we know tom twists and omits many other details (like what happens just a year into their marriage) anyway... what reasons DOES tom have for bringing up castration in this story? here's the possibilities i can come up with:
to make it sound less overtly romantic through means of the bizarre. classic diversionary tactic. literally without the castration it would sound undeniably like he's just saying "i read about this ancient roman gay marriage. an emperor murdered his wife so that he could marry a boy. i would like to do that with you also :)"
to make it sound less gay, specifically, because of nero's power in the situation. this of course calls back to that second reason for the actual sporus to be castrated. it's not gay if i've made you a eunuch, greg.
to emphasize the cruelty on nero's end. tom often puts himself in the role of a villain, especially irt his behavior with greg. considering also that this whole scene follows tom talking about how he's going to prison (AND that the next time he calls greg sporus it's in the scripts before the diner scene, where he agrees to sacrifice himself and go down for greg), it would make sense for him to buffer this confession with the caveat of what a bad person he is, like express in SOME way how insane his feelings are and how terrible he knows it is that he feels this way about greg. tom is notoriously unable to make normal apologies either, so. it tracks.
i think all of these are true, and i'm sure most would agree. i'm also sure most who've read this far are in full agreement that tom fixated on the story of nero and sporus in particular because it was a gay relationship with just enough ambiguity that he's able to relate to it without panicking. hell, the "he gave him a ring" line alone doesn't even evoke an ancient roman marriage nearly as much as a modern american one. i can't find even any sources that specifically mention a ring from nero to sporus, so i imagine tom invented that as well.
BUT while i'm here i do still want to mention a couple other queer things about nero to drive home that it's not just incidental gayness but overt homosexual desire being portrayed, as well as to emphasize that second reason that the irl nero may have had to castrate sporus:
prior to knowing sporus, nero had a mock-wedding as part of festive role-reversals during saturnalia. in this wedding he took the role of a bride, marrying a different freedman.
this is apocryphal and practically historical fiction, and may also specifically be due to perceived deviancy in nero, but it's old enough (like 13th century) that it's lowkey in the nero "canon" that he had womb envy and was obsessed with being the one to get pregnant
okay so NOW... how does all this translate into the actual events demanded/foreshadowed/symbolized by this story? if pushing shiv down the stairs is the betrayal that keeps her from being able to block the gojo deal (but also shiv is shown to fall down a couple real stairs)... and marrying sporus is making the "deal with the devil" (AND the sticker on the forehead)... then what's the castration? what was the first, less on-the-nose-and-simultaneously-meaningless castration, at least?
my best answer is that it's tom getting greg to drop his brightstar buffalo plans and follow him instead. because if death is just corporate death, then your testicles/manhood is your independence. tom says you're a joke, you can't function on your own, you need me (i need you). he's insecure that greg will leave if he has the option to do so. fair enough.
......and yet i come back to my initial disappointment, because that is barely different than the pay castration. and it's redefining greg's symbolic testes to something that tom gave him in the first place, thus practically retconning the first castration. but if that's it, does shiv's literal fall also replace her kick out of the company? that would sure be stupid! is the point of rehashing the symbolism to be stupid? to have meaningless stuff follow up the more significant events? even if that was the case, wouldn't you at least be doing it to give a visual element to the symbols? if shiv gets actual stairs, WHERE are greg's actual balls? or ANY balls!!!! greg even started wearing grey suits which he hadn't done before (but shiv had), and got a "ring" in his final scene. where's the FUCKING balls, huh?????
(anyway)
occam's razor, i think, may be that the meaninglessness of the castration specifically is the point. tom's insecurity that greg will leave if he has the option to (that greg would never actually want him but only need him), has been present for basically the duration of the show. it's just a character trait, and thus doesn't even work as foreshadowing when that just means "he's gonna keep doing what he's been doing." then, take that second reason--the purely pragmatic, not based in heterosexual-adjacent desire reason--for nero to castrate sporus. aka the only reason that makes sense for the way tom spins the story.
(it's also a motivation that leaves room for not even actually doing it. sporus wasn't going through rapid masculinization or anything. and they only lived another year. you could get away with just claiming that you did it for a while, probably.)
i should say there IS technically a third reason, postulated by modern scholars, for sporus's castration: to intentionally humiliate a potential rival for the throne. imagine if tom had told greg about nero and sporus upon first meeting. obviously things changed very quickly, but if all castration is here is tom keeping greg on a tight leash, then it works. and if the castration is nothing, then greg nearly tanking tom's plan out of naivety can be a nothing version of sporus wanting revenge. and shiv falling down real stairs can, instead of actually intending to set up a meaningful castration, be a red herring in that regard and simply foreshadow her pregnancy.
and that could be it. but... i've got One More Thing. maybe the most significant of all. lightning round:
who or what, in modern day where tom and greg live, actually IS castrated?
animals
specifically dogs
hmmmmmm
and why are DOGS castrated?
to reduce sexual and territorial aggression
reduce other unwanted behaviors
to keep them from breeding
okay. think greg's newfound sexual confidence in s4 and tom's distaste for it. tom's continued anxiety that greg's independence might lead him to leave him. think greg being tom's attack dog and how that nearly backfires at the very end. greg approaching tom at the end like a begging puppy.
think full circle: who's the rescue pup, i'll take care of you, i've got you...
i feel justified in recontextualizing all of this, and i come back to fight club:
Valley of the Dogs. Where even if they don't kill you, if someone loves you enough to take you home, they still castrate you.

i've been going through your asks and really enjoying your thoughts on how certain things work in your a/b/o world and i'm curious about transness in your world? are ppl allowed to take suppressants/medication to change their secondary gender if they want? if jason really didn't feel like an omega and wanted to be a beta or alpha, is that something he could do? i know that's not the point of your fic but i wondered how something like that would be treated
Thank you anon! Good question. I think I answered a few asks when I first started writing ASOH back in the fall about this topic. The question came up in the context of in-universe trans-ness versus Jason's desire to be alpha versus gender essentialism (that I was trying to avoid while writing this trope).
Personally, I always thought that Jason's aversion to his gender mirrors Bruce's, in that they have no internal issue with the changes of their bodies or instincts, but are averse to the external expectations, pressures, and effects of being omega in an a/b/o universe.
In my opinion, that meant that Jason and Bruce's initial rejection of omegahood was less about a disconnect between their personal, innate gender identity and the world they live in, and more about a disconnect between expected gender expression and the world they live in. Essentially, if omegas were treated better in-universe and free of stereotypes and expectations, they would have far fewer, if any, objections to their presented gender identity.
But, I absolutely believe there are folks in the a/b/o universe I've built who do feel that identity disconnect, i.e., that if omegas were suddenly treated better and gender expression expectations disappeared, they would still experience dysphoria about their dynamic/presented gender. And yes, I imagine they would take blockers/suppressants to achieve that.
Jason, for example, likely could've lived unpresented and frozen right before his presentation likely indefinitely, on the right drugs. I imagine this is kind of like how puberty blockers work IRL. Bruce attempted to suppress his dynamic post-presentation, and eventually over-did the suppressants to the point where they stopped working. Basically implying that a pre-presentation suppressant routine is easier and more tolerated than a post-presentation suppressant routine.
As we saw in the fic, Jason's use of alpha pheromones did grant him alpha instincts and abilities, though slightly more limited than other alphas in some ways. He had an alpha voice and certainly the scent. When he was routinely taking the medication, he was recognized by others as an alpha (minus Clark, who has a super nose, and Lex, who also arguably has a more sensitive than average nose).
I'm not sure where I'm going with this, other than to say, yes absolutely. I really hoped, and continue to hope, that I manage to discuss these tropes and topics in a way that's respectful to trans folks and doesn't veer into genre/trope-specific gender essentialism.
I don't want Bruce or Jason especially to be viewed as examples of resolved gender dysphoria, because their root issue wasn't necessarily gender dysphoria as we understand it. Their problem was with the expectations and real consequences of being their dynamic, and their own internalized hatred for the dynamic (likely borne from trauma).
A lot of those expectations are subverted in this fic. Becoming an omega isn't what Bruce or Jason thought it would be, and mostly in good ways.

MY FIRST COLLAB EVERRR! Thank you so much to @upheavalofmemory for collaborating with me, this was honestly quite fun to plan everything out. I'll probs post again after this in another three months! 😜😘
Piles go from left to right from 1-6 🤗
Tumblr media
Pile 1: Library: “Take control of your own narrative” Writing. Writing yourself into stories where you are your desired gender and have your desired appearance. Consuming content with people of your gender is also incredibly gender euphoric for you. You love getting representation for your gender, and it makes you feel a sense of bliss. Lavender: “Surround yourself with love” Hanging out with friends who support you is something that gives you gender euphoria. Your friend groups may be gender-diverse which gives you a sense of euphoria as your role in those relationships isn’t limited to your gender. If you’re out to your friends, they might support you and use your desired pronouns and if not, you know they’re still great friends who would support you regardless (even if they don’t understand). Universe: “We’re all just stardust” Body neutrality might give you gender euphoria. Body neutrality is the idea of appreciating your body for what it can do, regardless of what it looks like or how it functions. Giving your body parts names that are gender neutral or euphoric in relation to your gender, especially if you haven’t gotten surgeries or don’t intend on getting surgeries. Also, the idea of your body being a “flesh vessel” might also give you some comfort. Feather: “Think first before you judge” Similar to the Lavender message, you appreciate people who take the time to listen rather than immediately declare that they don’t support you, people who are willing to listen and take the time to support you, even if they struggle with it or don’t fully understand it. The efforts that family, friends, and/or acquaintances go through are something that gives you gender euphoria.
Tumblr media
Pile 2: I think you guys want to be able to embrace your femininity in a way that works for you. I'm getting drag but it doesn't have to be about drag necessarily, just hyper femininity especially if you guys are amab. I feel it's been a constant struggle for you to determine what makes you feel feminine. You don't fit in or align with regular societal conventions around being feminine especially if you're somebody who's into new age stuff or if you're in a more conservative country. You may have a hard time with some of the gender roles and expectations of women or just what it means to be feminine in that culture. Sitting with yourself and really reflecting on what makes you feel feminine will help. Being surrounded or wearing very cute things, specifically getting the coquette aesthetic or just fairy/mystical nature vibes. Having a femininity that isn't like super hyper sexualized but also makes you feel very confident or at least one where you don't feel like you have to compete with other women to be more feminine. A lot of you have struggled with people telling you that you're not feminine enough or you're too feminine if you're male presenting. Really trying to separate from yourself and how you've been programed to see femininity in general especially if you struggle with being surrounded by toxic masculinity. some of you may also get euphoria from dressing up more gothic or alternative but may feel like you can't out of a fear of judgement. Also dark coquette vibes like black lace and doll like clothing. For some of you, you think that if you start wearing darker clothing, you'll be seen as an outcast but I personally think you'd just look really cute. some of you are also interested in wearing latex or bdsm clothing.. You could also try introducing that into your wardrobe little by little, maybe wearing a lowkey harness with your regular clothes or wearing latex stockings under a long skirt.
Tumblr media
Pile 3: Grey: “Endings are inevitable” & Tree: “Let them go” Letting go of toxic people and cutting loose ends gives you gender euphoria. You (TW!) might not have supportive family members or friends, and you may intend on cutting them off. The idea of cutting them off and getting freedom from them, being able to be authentically yourself gives you gender euphoria. Burning those bridges and finding a new community to settle in (found family) may also give you gender euphoria, and you may or may not already have these people in your life. Tower: “Unplug & relax for a spell” Self-care makes you feel gender euphoric. You may have already transitioned (if you intend to) or you already feel confident in your body and your body makes you feel euphoric. You may focus on the small details of your body that give you that subtle confidence, and it makes you feel great. You may also be a witch or practice magic, which also gives you gender euphoria. You may study LGBTQ+ figures in religion or worship them, or feel accepted by them. In your religion or faith of choice you might feel unjudged and it gives you a heavy sense of euphoria and relief. Voyage: “You already have all the answers” Similar to the message from Tower, your body and the changes it goes through give you gender euphoria. You might be growing a bit of stubble, or your voice is finally pitched to perfection, or you were (finally) addressed as the gender you are in the grocery store or something similar. Also, knowing who you are and having that confidence within you gives you gender euphoria.
Tumblr media
Pile 4: I'm already getting similar vibes to pile number 2 but even more dark and alt mostly gothic lolita and darker more fancy alt clothing. You guys might really love (or would love) to present as genderless. You might also identify as agender. Some of you might want to have a body that isn't super adult like and genderless in that way. It's not a weird regression thing but more having a body that can't be sexualized or presents as very neutral. There's specific top surgery for this but i forgot the name, def look into it though if it's something you might be interested in. A lot of you peeps give me Mana from Malice Mizer vibes (an iconnnn✨) He (and gothic lolita and the visual kei style in general) present as genderless at least to me. I think you guys would really appreciate retro or old Gothic clothing, again gothic lolita also vampire like goth clothing? That sounds snazzzy. I'm also getting glam rock for some of you (I've been into glam rock drag lately, it's perfect) Clothing where people literally would look at you and would just stutter when figuring out what pronouns to use for you. Just everyone being confused would honestly give ya'll a lot of euphoria. Also, if there was a particular style that you really liked in your childhood or admired/looked up to, definitely revisit that.
Tumblr media
Pile 5: You might also be attracted to pile three. Mural: “Be your own first priority” & Potion “Practice self love.” Putting yourself and your needs first gives you the feeling of gender euphoria. Knowing you are advocating for yourself and the things you need, having the confidence to charge in without fear. Not focusing on the bigots, and being your best authentic self surrounded by people who accept you. Sundress: “Do it for you” & Evil Queen: “You deserve sugar, not salt.” (18+!) Dressing in feminine clothes might give you gender euphoria, depending on your gender or gender expression. Or in general, dressing the way you’d like to dress in terms of your gender. Possibly doing gender-positive makeup, using it to affirm your identity. You might participate in drag if it is applicable or dress as (stereotypically) different genders (especially if you are nonbinary or anywhere under the genderfluid umbrella). Additionally, (18+!) participating in sexual acts that reaffirm your gender gives you gender euphoria. Lighthouse: “Don’t doubt your worth” Like the first section, being an absolute bad b!tch is something that gives you gender euphoria. You might proudly be out of the closet, advocating for trans-youth, a nightmare in the comments sections (in a good way!), calling out bigots, etc. Such powerful energy honestly from this pile. You get gender euphoria by being your absolute, unapologetic self, even if it pisses off some people, you’d gladly piss them off and then some more, existing just out of spite.
Tumblr media
Pile 6: You guys might suffer severely from (CW!) gender dysphoria. You may be considered more voluptuous or round especially for your gender. I'm getting a lot of amab people here, especially if you weigh more than others. I'm getting a lot of you just want to get rid of what you perceive to be womanly. At the same time, what would make you happier though is taking the time to plan your transition out. The transition itself would obviously give you lots of euphoria but you might feel as though you have to rush through your transition or as if there's no way you can live with the amount of dysphoria you have at the moment. I'm not saying that to say you should stay upset with your body and postpone any gender-affirming healthcare. However, I think you might need more exploration than you've initially thought. I also think talking to people about your feelings around your body would be really helpful or even just journaling about the changes that you might want and specifically why you want them. Again, not in a way to put yourself down but as a way to really think and see what would bring you happiness. And for some of you that is just losing weight and not being as curvacious. There might also be smaller ways to ease your dysphoria too. I think if you have been brought up by a more conservative family, you were programmed to believe in general roles especially in terms of your body that you definitely still should unpack. If you've ever felt like you're unnatural for feeling this way or as if transitioning was unnatural, you should just love your body the way it is. yada yada, I want you to know that whatever you believe in (whether that's a higher power, spirit guys, or just you know your future self) they DO want you to make this transition and they do approve of you making bodily changes in a way that would really make you happy. I honestly relate to this group and I feel like I'm gonna cry but just know we're all rooting for you!

Do you have any tips or resources for someone who wants to get into drag?
hello there!
this is a good question! i don't have any websites or anything like that handy, but i'll make sure to include things as i find them!
my biggest piece of advice is to observe what other drag artists are doing. there's not a rulebook or anything like that, a lot of artists go in a lot of different directions with their looks! i think it's best to try to get some exposure to the community on a large scale when and where possible and to just see what others are doing
you can think about any potential themes you'd like to incorporate, like bimbo, doll, lolita, ballroom, camp, alternative, gothic, nonhuman, or time period specific looks! there are lots of styles for all types of drag artists, there are lots of drag kings out there as well and the inspirations and themes for outfits can vary wildly!
it's good to think about what you think drag is for you, too. what is your statement? what are you telling the world when you dress in drag? what are you parodying? what is it a satire of? what are you making fun of? what are you expressing? is it self love? is it showing the world this is who you are inside? is it commentary on how society views you? is it how you can have fun and look pretty at the same time? is it about breaking down binaries? having to over-perform womanhood, manhood, or nonbinaryhood? feeling like a caricature? and so on and so forth
once you have an idea of what you are expressing when you do drag, it can give you some more inspiration on looks. you are never locked into one look, having one name, being one type of performer. you can switch between being a drag queen, king, artist, and thing! there's nothing stopping you from having multiple drag personas, or not having one at all. you don't have to have a name or a specific persona if that doesn't suit you
if you want to have a specific persona, a lot of folks like to make their name or title some type of pun. i'm autistic and suck at cultural references, so i'm not great at lending a hand on this one! but some folks are able to come up with some hilarious names. humor is a huge part of drag so please don't feel like you can't be funny. drag can leave you crying laughing- some performers love to do comedy in drag and it rips!
you can also be serious, sexy, mysterious, playful, animalistic, nonhuman, alien, or childlike. it's totally up to you, there's no hard set rules, it's a very play it by ear kind of thing. above all else it is an artform, meaning it is highly up to interpretation. you don't have to necessarily layer your face up in makeup if that doesn't suit you. if you can find other ways to express yourself and have fun with gender and presentation that don't involve that, show people!
many performers also include cultural aspects of their ethnicity into their drag as well! i live in a highly diverse area with a lot of latine and indigenous performers and i have met a lot of local navajo queens who have incorporated fashion from their culture into their looks as well! drag's foundation is in black & latine ballroom culture, people of color have always had a massive hand in being the pioneers of drag, so don't be afraid to incorporate those themes into your performances and outfits if it feels comfortable to you
clothes and wigs can be thrifted depending on the area you live in, and your sizes. i have found great success (i.e. all of my outfits except my vests!) from thrift stores. it can take some looking but it is worth it. however, i do understand some folks struggle to find cute clothes for drag because their local area does not have great thrift stores. it is okay to do what you have to to find cheap clothes, if you do not have access to thrift stores that have a lot of variety, you can always look for consignment shops and other types of boutiques of that variety, and i do believe there are lots of drag closets online, as well as any other sites that you personally find clothes from that suits the aesthetic you're going for! you can find clothes for drag anywhere if you develop an eye for it
i would highly suggest browsing youtube for wig styling and makeup tutorials! i just kind of view my face as a canvas and paint on whatever i think would look cool, but for some of my looks i am learning how to play with light and shadow, so i highly recommend just browsing for tutorials for people who match your skin and hair type! i would highly recommend making sure you are specifying what type of hair you are working with when searching for tutorials
you can start playlists of songs to perform to if music is your thing, and you can also look up choreography for songs on youtube as well for ideas, if music will be involved in your performing. it's definitely not necessary though, and many folks dress up and spend time in drag to socialize, not to sing and dance, which is totally fine as well! comedy, book readings and cooking tutorials are just a few other things that folks like to do while in drag! you can do a lot or nothing at all it's really up to you
i hope this helps! if we come up with anything else, we'll add it! you can also ask any more specific questions you'd like! we hope this was a good place to start off from!

{Jervis Tetch having teaparties with an autistic s/o}
___________________________________________
A few words from author: Hello there guys, long time no see! ^^"
I know I've been really inactive lately, but I needed a mental health break, hope you can understand.
Anyways, I got pulled into a new fandom yet again, so here I present you imagines for the Batman franchise, specifically imagines for Gotham!Jervis. ✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧
Hope y'all will enjoy these, especially my fellow babycakes who are also on the autism spectrum! Tried to include more than just the traits I experience. <3
-
Settings: Can be read as both romantic and platonic
Genre: Pure fluff ^^
!TRIGGER WARNING!: Hints of typical Jervis stuff, swear words here and there, and I think that's all ^^
Sidenote: I'm still new to the Batman franchise, and this is my first time writing Gotham Jervis, I'm sorry if he's too ooc (༎ຶ ෴ ༎ຶ)
Sidenote: s/o can be interpreted as significant other (as in romantic) or special one (as in platonic)
Sidenote: gender of reader is not specified, but I genuinely apologize if reader description leans more into a feminine sense
___________________________________________
~Jervis is not a good man,
~he's very far from it,
~But he can be a decent person if he wants to be,
~and for you, he'd gladly be more than a decent person, <3
~or more like a decent little lovestruck madman
~But only for you, nobody else,
~And so, despite really needing for his teaparties to be exactly that certain way he likes them,
~he does go out of his way to accommodate to your needs and preferences,
~He really wants for you to enjoy his teaparties and be comfortable, ;^;
~You're his Alice after all, you deserve the best!
~And what all that means?
~Well, glad you asked! :3
~First off, if you don't like the cutlery, cups and dishes he uses, he doesn't get upset,
~he lets you bring your own if you wish and need that,
~he respects that, and doesn't make a fuss about it even if he'd literally never allow for anyone else to refuse to use his treasured beautiful porcelain teaparty set,
~that's how dear you are to him, <3
~On another note, if you're like me and don't necessarily need your own dishes, cups and cutlery BUT you do favour some dishes, cups and cutlery over the others,
~and if you do subconsciously create a routine to use a specific pair of cutlery, cups and dishes,
~then Jervis always makes sure you get to use that specific pair on any of his teaparties,
~and he reserves that specific pair of cutlery, cups and dishes just for you,
~No-one, and I mean no-one is allowed to use that specific pair anymore,
~the moment you show you prefer that pair, everyone else loses their privileges to use that pair,
~Now another thing - Safefood and Samefood,
~Jervis is really good at making various snacks and treats for his teaparties,
~so, each teaparty you'll have wide variety of things to choose from,
~and he tends to come up with something new all the time,
~However, if you show you prefer to eat the same snacks at each teaparty,
~and if you show to be uncomfortable or distressed at not being able to get your usual,
~Jervis will go out of his way to make sure that on each of his teaparties you get to have the same snacks,
~Of course he'll also include some new treats too because he himself can't eat the same thing all the time,
~but you definitely get to have your samefood at each teaparty,
~he always makes sure that you do, <3
~Also, if you have any specific safefood, Jervis always includes it on his teaparties,
~even if the food or drink is not that fit for a teaparty,
~Oh, and if you happen to not like some snack Jervis made because of the texture,
~then you won't see the snack on his teaparties ever again,
~that specific snack will be a taboo, ^^"
~Now another thing!
~Jervis likes to dress up for his teaparties,
~he really likes to look all fancy and wonderland like,
~and he would like that for you too,
~but again, if you have issues with wearing more fancy clothes due to them being uncomfortable or something,
~Jervis will be more understanding, and won't force you to dress up for him,
~he doesn't want you to get exhausted and distressed from wearing something that you do not like, ;^;
~After all, his teaparties are meant to be a pleasant experience for you where you can be yourself and feel happy,
~unlike how his teaparties work for others
~However, if you're willing to dress up for him, Jervis will be ecstatic,
~and if you don't have anything that would be that fit for the specific vibe Jervis craves so much,
~just ask him, cuz Jervis has so many costumes for that purpose,
~But don't worry!
~If you are sensitive to certain materials, and if you wouldn't find any good costume for your liking,
~then Jervis definitely would be up to getting you a custom outfit for his teaparties, only made of materials you can stand, <3
~Aaand here goes another thing!
~If you are sensitive to noise, Jervis makes sure that the teaparties are held in peace,
~he makes sure the place isn't loud, he himself talks gently and at a volume you can tolerate,
~he even controls his reactions a lot to make sure he won't startle you or anything,
~which can sometimes be a little hard for him, but he tries his best for you,
~oh, and his men are usually not allowed to be around either,
~they are usually ordered to be in a different room or something,
~and damn, if they ever disturb or are too loud and make you distressed...
~well, I'm sure you can imagine what happens... (^~^;)ゞ
~However if you are the opposite and you like noise,
~then Jervis goes all out, he doesn't hold back,
~he talks at a slightly louder volume, he's expressive, enthusiastic, impulsive and if wanted, he lets some intense classical music (or maybe a different genre if you ask nice enough) be played in the background,
~and of course he lets you be as loud as you want, <3
~you can talks as loud as you please, you can make noise and stim, no shame, no holding back,
~and if you really are sensory seeking, you're allowed to touch anything that catches your interest,
~sometimes Jervis will even prepare random yet interesting decorations, wanting to see whether or not will that item catch your interest,
~Also if you like crunchy food, then Jervis makes sure you get as much of it as you'd like,
~if your sensory seeking makes you crave physical contact, you get all of it,
~you can sit close and lean on him, you can mess with his hands, trace his face,
~Jervi's favourite form of physical contact is holding your hand and squeezing it, ^^
~and if you like getting your hair brushed and played with, then that also happens a lot because that's the second form of physical contact Jervis simply adores,
~And probably the last thing,
~if you feel like talking, you can talk as much as you'd like,
~you can talk and talk about whatever you want, Jervis will listen intently,
~Jervia adores hearing you talk, especially about your special interest, no matter what it is,
~And just between you and me, Jervis will deliberately ask you questions regarding your special interest to get you to talk,
~and then he just sits back and watches you with a satisfied, loving smile as you go on and ramble his ears off,
~he loves it,
~And well, that's probably all I can say for now, ^^
~Well, how do I end this...
~Jervis really isn't a good man,
~but he tries to be his best self when he's with you,
~you mean so much to him,
~you're his greatest treasure, and he'll do anything to keep you around, ;^;
~I mean, he won't change who he is,
~but he definitely tries to be a slightly better man with you, <3

Hello! I've just been wondering if there's a way that you designed your characters visually, I feel like they're so vibrant and so different from they way they're typically depicted in Greek myths. Did you draw inspiration from anything, or did they sort of just come together along the way of writing? I do love how they 'look' (despite this being a text game hehe) and thank you for such a fun IF! Looking forward to the release tomorrow :)
Well, I don't know that I have any specific process I can point to, heh. It started with looking at deities associated with the Underworld in Greek myths and thinking about which ones had stories or motifs or other things that I thought would make for interesting inclusion in a game like this.
When it came to designing them visually, I tried to take inspiration from those same elements, but certainly not feel constrained by what we have of Classical art. Not that there's anything wrong with Classical art, of course, but this isn't really at its core a Classical story anymore. It has some elements and some themes, but not at all in the same way, and I felt it was probably fine if the characters reflected that.
I also wanted them to reflect the diversity of 'the Mediterranean region,' if you like. There's a very whitewashed way of looking at the ancient world in this region, and I wasn't particularly keen to play into the stereotype, so the majority of the main characters are people of colour. I don't necessarily have specific identities in mind for most of them, as they're also gods, and in this case, that detaches them a bit from those sorts of concepts. (A god isn't Etruscan or Cretean or Ethiopian or what have you—they're a god.) But it was still important to me that, detached from very human ideas of identity, the gods still be a diverse-looking lot, because why wouldn't they be?
As it turns out, that left me with loads of possibilities, and so it was a matter of making each character visually distinct from the others, in a way that made sense for who they are. Alekto is a Fury, someone whose job it is to hunt down people who try to evade the justice of the gods. So she's tall, and strong, and often dressed for combat. But she also has a particular relationship with her gender, which she's given a lot of consideration, and when she's not doing that, she likes to present herself in a very feminine way, so she keeps her hair long and has an entire wardrobe full of colorful, elaborate garments and accessories.
Pyri was always going to be shades of orange and red and gold and the like, because they're a fire deity. Hades in some important sense is his realm, and so he's taken on some of its features, just as it has taken on some of his. I admit I gave wings to Hermes because I just wanted to haha, so it's not always that deep, either.
Also, I can't take full credit for how well they turned out; all the artists who've been kind enough to bring them to life have contributed to that sense of distinctness as well. I'm sure that without those contributions, they wouldn't seem half as unique and distinct as they do!

I really like your post about trans Gill!
I personally think all the the captain some form of trans. Chip’s transmacs, Jay is transfem, and Gill is Nonbinary.
I also definitely don’t think Gill would’ve had time to think about his own gender until he got to the oversea, he was to busy being the champion and all. Maybe once he was on the ship and one of the other two explained it yo him and he’s like “yeah I’m a dude I’m a fish I don’t really care about if I’m a man or a woman” (this might be me projecting tho)
Or on the completely opposite side
What it in the undersea gender is completely different. What if everyone just had “gender” based on how old they are? Tritons live for like 200 years anyway
So when Gill gets to the surface he’s confused about the whole gender thing and just goes with nonbinary cause it’s the closest thing in the oversea to what the undersea has.
Okay I’m sorry for taking your ear off I hope you enjoyed my ramble ✌🏾
real real real you're so right, transmasc chip transfem jay nb gill are so reaaal 🤝🤝🤝
and im gonna ramble under your ramble too so hope you don't mind hehe
so, gillion grew up in a palace being trained to be the chosen one for his entire life almost, right? so he pretty much never experienced the life outside and gender roles don't mean anything to him because he never encountered them in like, any casual situation. and no one ever really treated him as a guy specifically, because he's the chosen one first, and whatever else second.
so gillion might not care about his gender at all or don't pay any mind to it, because he never did and why would he start now? different gender presentation might be fun for him sometimes, but gill to me also doesn't look like the type to dress up or lean into a role, so idk?
i also like to think (and this is 100% me projecting) that in mana everything is a lot more chill with gender and orientation. people are just kinda doing whatever they want, love who they want, and no one is really questioning it. so there's not necessarily labels or flags for everything, because people don't see the need to divide their experiences into specific categories.
so when gill says that he's just gillion, or feels confused by the question, everyone kind of nods and leaves him be. because if he doesn't care why should they?

QUESTION FOR NON BINARY PEOPLE!!
I was initially going to make a playlist featuring Trans Men/Trans Masculine spectrum people, but found that a lot of artists I had in mind were non-binary and didn't specifically id as FTM or trans masc or anything along those lines. I thought I'd just include them anyway because they were transgender people who were AFAB so I put "FTM & FTNB" but I googled the term "ftnb" and found that there was a sizable group of nonbinary people who don't like the term because it creates a false binary nonbinary people who were AMAB or AFAB (and people who were not necessarily assigned a gender at birth).
My question is: is there some terminology that I could use to make the title make sense or would it be better to make a separate playlist of nonbinary artists, regardless of their AGAB? On that note, transmasc nonbinary people, what's your opinion on being included with transmen versus nonbinary people? Or both?
Absolutely no cisgender people who were AFAB are on the playlist so I don't think I'm unintentionally conflating being nonbinary as "women lite" (alienating trans people who were AMAB). I know referring to people as AGAB-specific can be a little contentious. I also don't want to lump nonbinary people with masculinity if they haven't specifically expressed that they do that themselves or something. My main motivation behind the playlist was to show trans AFAB people honestly, because I felt underrepresented as a trans man, but maybe it's still misguided to include nonbinary people who do not id as some masc spectrum identity, even if they present somewhat masculine. What do you think?
I tried to word the post carefully, but I'm sorry if it comes off as convoluted. I just read Whipping Girl and was originally going to call it "FTM Spectrum playlist" but I think that's outdated?
