You might have to click on some of them to get a better look at Hobie, sadly I don't have a video editor that allows me to make better edits than these :')
#This took so long to make lol#cause I had to edit every scene with Hobie from both versions so I could watch them right after one another to compare them#I did this with ALL the scenes he's in also the ones where he's on screen as spider-punk#but they only changed his filters in these scenes so it was a waste of time :')#sidenote: no it wasn't it's never a waste of time to look at hobie I just couldn't use it for my GIFset lol#I also made a bouns one but I'm not allowed to post more than 30 GIFs in one post apparently so I guess I just won't add it then...#but Hobie was basically filterless during all these scenes in the theatrical version#I like that they gave him more different filters in the digital version#the only change I don't like is in the first GIFs#cause like that one post pointed out it looks like they removed his lipstick for some reason#also really wish I had a better video editor so we could get a closer look at Hobie but I did my best with what I had#also slowed some of them down to get a better look at them#been having this idea for a while and now I finally finished it!#which means I can go back to working on my fics now#hopefully lol#also lemme know if there are some other scens you guys want me to make comparisons of#cause I have both versions#the theatrical release isn't the highest quality though so if you know where I can get my hands on a better version lemme know ;)#hobie brown#spider punk#miles morales#spider man#peter b parker#jess drew#miguel o'hara#spider man across the spider verse#across the spider verse#across the spiderverse#atsv#theatrical version

car ride, m | kth, jjk
pairing(s): taehyung x reader x jungkook
summary: You really know how to make a car ride, er... eventful. Maybe too eventful for Kim Taehyung and Jeon Jungkook. They try to punish you, but who are we kidding? The three of you are too busy being horny as fuck. Oh well.
warnings: rated M (18+) for language, (slight) exhibitionism; intense smut (fem reader, fingering, lil cock slapping, threesome, m-receiving oral, f and m-masturbation, double penetration/spit-roasting, cum eating; also you get covered in cum, yay!); fluff; non-idol!AU; noona!reader and you’re all nymphos, welp
Technically a continuation of just kidding and ii, but can be read alone.
Kim Taehyung said it first.
“She’s actually insane.”
Jeon Jungkook nodded tightly; jaw clenched as he tried not to stare at you through the rearview mirror.
Thirty minutes ago, you had called Taehyung, tone casual and light.
“Hey, could you pick me up? I think I missed the last bus.”
“Hm, sure.”
“Bring Jungkook with you, please.”
And then you hung up.
Taehyung had stared at his phone, frowning. Then he went to go collect Jungkook, who was in the middle of editing a music video. He edited videos for indie bands in his spare time, kind of for fun, kind of as a passion project. He did want to be a director or video editor, after all.
“Oi, our horny little seductress called.”
Jungkook had snapped his head far too quickly, long black hair cascading against his cheek, eyes glittering with interest. Too much interest. Taehyung would be lying if he said he wasn’t a little annoyed.
“Asked you to come, so you’re driving.”
Jungkook had grinned.
“Okay.”
Except it was not okay. Very not okay.
“You can sit in the front, Tae. I need space for my bag.”
So now the three of you were sitting in Jungkook’s car, Jungkook driving, Taehyung riding shotgun as you sat in the backseat. From this position, you could see Jungkook’s black sweater and Taehyung’s camel coat. You were wearing an oversized black parka with a nine-pointed star embordered on the chest, your black leather skull-shaped purse chilling beside you. Knee-high black leather boots.
Bare legs.
That should have been their first warning sign.
“What were you doing?” Taehyung had asked as you climbed in. Jungkook started the car, pulling out of the parking garage, into the night.
“Doctor’s appointment for my wrist.” You sighed, tapping your right arm. “Just a check-up.” You pulled down the sleeve of your large parka, showing the wrist brace. “I should at least sleep with it.”
Taehyung scratched his head. “Damn, I didn’t realize your carpal tunnel was that bad.”
You waved your hand. “It’ll be fine. I’m exercising it.”
“Where to?” Jungkook chirped, stopping at a red light.
Pop.
Jungkook’s dark brown eyes flickered to the rearview mirror, narrowing. His face was lit with red from the cars in front of him. Taehyung turned around sharply. You smiled, feeling the cold air on your bare collarbones. Pop, pop, pop. The silver buttons of your parka snapped apart, revealing skin. Bare skin, the gentle curve of your breasts and cleavage. Taehyung’s dark eyes widened, as you pushed the sides apart, your naked breasts bouncing as the light turned green.
“WHAT THE FUCK?”
A car honked very loudly behind Jungkook and he was forced to press on the accelerator as Taehyung exploded, his deep voice booming as he gawked at your tits.
“Are you insane?” Taehyung shouted.
You grinned, cupping your breasts and squeezing your nipples between two fingers, mouth open, tongue tracing your teeth from side to side.
Taehyung snapped back forward, searching for police.
“She’s actually insane.”
Jungkook clenched his jaw so tight that he couldn’t say anything, trying to focus on driving and only driving, and not the sound of you moaning as you played with your breasts, pressing them together and flicking your nipples.
“Do you want us to get arrested?” Taehyung hissed, sneaking glances at you in the darkness while simultaneously darting his eyes around for literally anyone who might be able to witness your sinful lunacy.
“Taehyung, she went to the doctor like that,” Jungkook gritted out.
That thought apparently hadn’t crossed Taehyung’s mind. He whipped his head around again, eyes so wide that you paused your heinous display of lust for a second, afraid they were going to fall out of his head.
“WHAT THE FUCK?” he roared.
You grinned, holding your hands up. “I didn’t have to take my coat off, if that makes you feel better,” you said cheerfully.
Taehyung did not look like he felt better. In fact, he looked like he was going to pass out. He lifted his head to stare at the sky, mouthing silent words, running a large hand through his dark brown hair and messing it up. Your mouth watered, seeing that hand, knowing what it could do. Jungkook’s knuckles were white with how hard he was gripping the steering wheel.
“So, where are we go–?” you began, far too cheerfully for the two men in front of you.
Jungkook cut you off tightly. “Ours. You are going to our place. Now.”
“Ah,” you exhaled, smiling. “That’s good.” You nuzzled back into your seat, tits still out, nipples hard from the cold air. “That’s very good.” You spread your legs, hands clutching both sides of your black parka.
Pop, pop, pop, pop.
Jungkook nearly veered off the road.
“WHAT THE HELL?”
Taehyung was going to get whiplash with how hard he kept jerking his head back and forth. “Where the fuck are your panties?”
You placed a finger to your lips, smirking. “Oh no, I think I lost them.”
Maybe it was time to pray because Jungkook was trying very hard not to fucking die, his eyes shooting from the road, to the rearview mirror, to the road, to the mirror, veins popping in his forehead, his black hair covering his left eye. You pushed the shoulders of your parka down, spreading it open, inserting your finger into your mouth.
“Noona, don’t you fucking dare…” Jungkook warned.
But you did dare, swirling your tongue around your finger, softly moaning his name, Taehyung slack-jawed as your lashes lowered. You ground your hips into the seat, pussy already glistening as you popped your fingertip out of your mouth, making Jungkook hiss, sliding your hand down your neck, between your breasts, all the way down, down, pressing your wet finger against your clit.
Taehyung’s voice went low, dangerous.
“Are you a bad, bad girl, noona?” he growled.
You bit your lip, pressing down on your bundle of nerves, gasping. “I’m a good girl sometimes… But it’s so hard...” You rubbed your clit slowly, pushing your head back into the headrest, locking eyes with Taehyung, rocking your hips into your hand. “It’s so hard when I want to be naughty for you, Tae…”
His beautiful lips curved into a wicked smile, voice so low it was tearing through you, burning you with arousal. “Yeah? Just for me?”
You cried out softly, adding more pressure. Your eyes flickered to the rearview mirror, to Jungkook’s panicked, blown-out pupils.
“No… For Jungkook, t-too…”
“Fucking shit,” Jungkook breathed, trying to drive slow and steady so he wouldn’t die while having the biggest hard-on of his life.
Taehyung yanked the lever of the passenger’s seat, pushing down the back to get closer to you. Jungkook slammed his palm against the wheel, snarling at him, but Taehyung completely ignored his outburst, sliding up the seat. You licked your lips and rubbed yourself faster, tipping your hips in his direction.
“Fuck,” Taehyung breathed, eyes roaming over your form. “You’re so fucking hot, noona.”
“Tae…” you whined, angling yourself to him.
“You want me to touch you, noona?” Taehyung purred; eyes even darker from the low light. He lifted his hand, flexing his long fingers. “You want me to touch that naughty pussy of yours?”
You whimpered, stroking your clit, chasing your orgasm, your dripping wet hole opening and closing, begging for his fingers. He dragged himself closer, fingertips dancing on your thigh. So hot, so close, fuck, you wanted him, Taehyung and his hungry eyes.
“I want to tell you no,” he whispered, gravelly and deep. “Shit, I want to tell you no and make you get yourself off, but you’re so fucking sexy, I just have to touch that dirty little pussy.”
And then he shoved two fingers into you, making you throw your head back and moan, long and wanton, Jungkook’s frustrated cries coming from the front seat as Taehyung’s fingers squelched into you, hard and fast and rough, not letting you get used to him, but you didn’t care, didn’t give a single fuck as you fucked your hips into his fingers. Gasping his name, rutting into his hand.
“Tell me when you’re close,” Taehyung demanded. “Be a good girl and tell me when you’re close.”
You nodded tightly, feeling the car slow as Jungkook pulled into the neighborhoods, nearing your orgasm, rubbing yourself fast as Taehyung thrust his fingers into you, your head pressing against the glass window. You panted, hip rising to meet him.
“A-ah, Taehyung, your fingers feel so good, so good, so fucking good,” you gasped. “Gonna cum, gonna cum just for you, Tae, all over your hand...”
Taehyung’s eyebrow rose, a smirk on his lips as he pumped his fingers into you, watching you come undone, seeing you hit the peak. Voice low, sexy, and authoritative.
“Oh, you wish.”
And then he ripped his fingers out of you as you screamed, your juices spilling out, pussy empty and clenching, orgasm hit, but wildly unsatisfying as Taehyung lifted himself up, grinning over you, fingers slick as he slid them into his mouth, licking them off. Your cum slid all over your thighs, dripping down, falling onto the carpet of Jungkook’s car.
“T-Taehyung!” you panted indignantly, sitting up sharply. “How could you!”
He cocked his head as the car stopped. Jungkook tore himself out of the seat, practically blasting his car door open to rip open your door, snatching you from the backseat. He slammed your nakedness against his black sweater and jeans, his hard body flexed against yours. You gasped at the sudden force, skin tingling with stimulation, the aftershocks of your orgasm still trembling through you.
“Noona,” he growled into your face, bringing his dark eyes to yours. “We have to teach you a lesson.”
-
Somehow, the three of you made it into the apartment without you flashing the entire complex.
Nice.
Getting you out of your clothes was easy. You were barely wearing any after all.
Taehyung shoved you against the hallway wall, tearing off his camel coat. You grabbed his white shirt and kissed him, hard, his musky cologne filling your nose. He whispered your name against your lips, grating and dangerous, smiling as you kissed him hungrily. You changed your positions, still kissing him, pushing him into the wall as Jungkook came up behind you, rolling his hard body into your back, sandwiching your nakedness between their clothed bodies. Jungkook grabbed your head and yanked your hair back, breaking your kiss with Taehyung to crash his lips into yours, forcing his tongue into your mouth and fucking it roughly, making you whimper.
“Fuck, you’re so beautiful,” Taehyung growled, grabbing your thighs and hoisting them up to hook them around his waist. You leaned against Jungkook’s chest, holding your upper body up Taehyung licked up your breasts, latching his lips to your nipple. You whined in Jungkook’s mouth, hands coming up to grab the black fabric of his sweater, back arching. Taehyung’s large hands found your ass, smacking it once before gripping it tightly.
“You’re so naughty,” Jungkook murmured against your lips, right hand snaking around your waist, in between your legs. Taehyung narrowed his eyes at him, but Jungkook was focused on you and only you, your panting mouth as Taehyung sucked on your nipples, switching between them. “Dirty girl, walking around the city without underwear,” Jungkook purred, watching you gasp as he slid his fingers in between Taeyang’s clothed stomach and your dripping pussy. “Were you thinking about us all day, desperate for our cocks to fill you up?”
Your arms encircled Jungkook’s neck as you moaned, head against his broad shoulder as he began to rub your clit.
“Y-yes…”
Jungkook’s breath so hot against your neck as Taehyung spread your nipples with his tongue. You rocked your hips into his stomach, so wet Taehyung’s white t-shirt squelched against his skin, Jungkook’s fingers rubbing you hard and fast, racing you to your orgasm.
“You’re such a bad girl, noona. What are we going to do with you? Should we give you cock?” Jungkook snarled, so low and dangerous that you shivered, crying out Taehyung’s name as he nipped at your nipple, sending shocks of pain through you.
“P-please…” you panted, eyes rolling back as Jungkook pinched your clit, your hips grinding into Taehyung’s shirt. “Fuck me, fuck me, fuck me…”
Taehyung removed his mouth sharply and you whined, nipples dripping with his saliva.
“You think you deserve cock, noona?” Taehyung barked, spanking your ass hard as he spoke, punctuating his words with slaps. “You’ve been such a bad, bad girl. Should we even let you finish?”
You were nearly sobbing now, knowing you were so close, so close, breath hitching as Jungkook violently stroked you to orgasm.
“P-please… Please, Taehyung, let me cum, please, I need to cum so bad, please…”
Taehyung smirked, locking eyes with Jungkook.
“Aw, too bad I’m not the one pleasuring you.”
And then Jungkook tore his hand from you, making you wail, orgasm met, but wholly unsatisfying as you leaked all over Taehyung’s stomach, legs shaking, almost slipping if it wasn’t for Jungkook’s strong arms catching you. You clenched Jungkook’s sweater, yanking hard.
“You guys are so fucking mean!”
Taehyung chuckled as your legs slid down, down, gently placing you on the floor. He looked down at his white t-shirt and shook his head.
“You made a mess.”
You glared at him and then at Jungkook, who gave you an arrogant smirk.
“Sorry, noona. You nearly killed us all with your antics, after all.”
“Are you saying it wasn’t fun?” you countered.
Jungkook’s smirk grew. “It’s fun punishing you too.”
You narrowed your eyes, but quickly became distracted with Taehyung stepping away from the wall, pointing to the door at the end of the hall.
“Go.” A command.
That wasn’t Taehyung’s room. You tilted your head. You’d never been in Jungkook’s room before.
“Now.”
Your eyes shifted to Jungkook and he cocked his chin in the same direction. You frowned but went, legs still unsteady. Jungkook began to walk after you, but Taehyung grabbed his forearm, stopping him.
“Jungkook.”
The younger man turned his head to look at him. Taehyung’s expression was very stern, almost cold.
“There can be no one else,” he said quietly. “I’ll kill you if you hurt her.”
Jungkook blinked. He had never seen Taehyung so serious over a woman. Sure, Taehyung dated and fucked around, but he let things go quite easily most of the time. Jungkook placed a hand over his, staring straight into Taehyung’s eyes.
“Okay.”
Taehyung’s grip tightened, eyes hardening.
Jungkook smiled, lowering his hand.
“Trust me, hyung, she’s more than enough for me. I don’t need anyone else.”
After a long moment, Taehyung let him go, turning away to go to his room. Jungkook looked after him, rubbing his arm. He turned away, gazing at his now open door. A weird feeling overcame him, a strange push and pull, before he brushed it aside and walked to his bedroom. Jungkook stopped at the doorframe.
And was greeted by the sight of you sprawled out in his gaming chair, holding one of his t-shirts against your chest, inhaling deeply as your eyes closed, right hand between your legs. Your wrist brace was making it difficult to go fast, so instead you stroked your clit slowly, breathing in the scent of his residual cologne that clung to his clothes, paying little attention to the fact that Jungkook was now watching you, amused.
"You really are a horny little seductress, aren't you?'
You grinned hearing his deep voice, eyes still closed. You rubbed the fabric against your nipples, moaning at the sensation.
“How often do you sit here, jacking off while thinking about me?” you wondered out loud.
Jungkook clicked his tongue, making you open your eyes.
“Too often.”
You licked your lips, purring his name enticingly. His lips curved into a lazy smirk.
Ah.
Jungkook was just so very, very sexy and he knew it.
Your eyes admired him for a moment. The right side of his hair pinned back, revealing his undercut. Long dark locks obscuring the left side of his face, hiding his angular cheekbone, framing his chiseled jaw and mischievous eyes. He stepped into the room, reaching down and crossing his arms, pulling his sweater up and over his head. You sucked in a breath. His toned torso, lean and tan. His right arm, covered in tattoos, flexing as he pulled the clothing over his head, mussing up his hair. It curled a bit around his forehead. Fuck, both his arms, shapely and strong, deliberately tensing them to make you gasp. Jungkook raised his right hand, tiny tattoos flashing as he beckoned you to him.
“Come here.”
You stood up from his chair slowly, his t-shirt sliding down your body and onto the floor. Light, careful steps as he circled the bed, putting it between you and him. You crawled onto the bed on all fours, hands digging into his slate gray sheets as he stepped to the very edge of the bed, undoing the button of his black jeans, zipping it down as you approached him, nearly moaning when you pushed them past his hips, pressing your face into his black underwear, breathing hotly against his erection. Your eyes traveled back up to him, tongue sliding out and pressing wetly against his clothed cock.
“Fuck,” Jungkook breathed. “You’re so fucking hot.”
You grinned as he pushed his underwear down, his cock springing up to smear pre-cum against your cheek, already dripping from lack of stimulation. You went from base to tip, swirling your tongue all over, watching Jungkook’s head fall back as you took him in your mouth, so wet, so hot, so tight. Took it all the way down, feeling him swell in your mouth deliciously, his strong hand gripping the back of your head, keeping you there.
“Ah, such nice lips…” he purred, releasing your head so you could bob up and down, slowly. “That’s it, noona, just like that.”
You did, keeping a measured but deep pace, sucking in your cheeks. He hissed at the added stimulation, rocking his hips into your face. Jungkook looked back down, seeing you observing him, crouching on your hands and knees, your ass up in the air.
“Look at you, noona,” he murmured, reaching down to tweak your nipple. “So good at swallowing cock, so good at taking it all.”
You whimpered, rubbing your thighs together. Jungkook took both your nipples and pulled, making you groan around his cock. He thrust his hips into your mouth and you almost choked, hands suddenly coming up to grab his thighs. He shushed you, rubbing your nipples soothingly as he pulled out of your mouth, cock slapping your chin wetly.
“On your back. Show me that pretty pussy of yours.”
You scooted back, spreading your legs. Jungkook went to his desk, opening a drawer, watching you as you gripped each side of your thighs, spreading them further, your glistening slit out in the open. You flexed your vaginal muscles, opening and closing, making him suck a tight breath as he rolled the condom on.
“Fuck, that’s the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen.”
He climbed onto the bed, trailing his eyes up to your face and your half-lidded eyes, mouth open, panting his name.
“J-Jungkook, please…”
He smiled. “What is it, noona? What do you want?”
You wiggled your hips into his bed. “Your cock, please, Jungkook, I need it…”
He smacked his length against your clit, earning a sharp gasp. You pushed your head back into his sheets, whining as Jungkook slapped your swollen clit repeatedly with his cock, hard and fast, smearing it with lubrication from the condom. He was so hard that it almost hurt if it wasn’t for the lube.
“Is this enough for you?” Jungkook taunted. “Or does my naughty girl want more?”
“I-inside, please, a-ah, Jungkook, it’s t-too sensitive.…”
He stopped for only a split second before thrusting himself inside you, hissing as you sucked him in, previous stimulations already readying you for him. You rolled your hips, arching your back and gasping his name as Jungkook began, long, deep strokes that made you clench and shudder, aching for more. But before you could say anything, a familiar weight landed on the bed near your head.
Your eyes widened seeing Taehyung’s naked body, strong and handsome, tan skin glowing. His stoic, almost arrogant expression burned into your memory as he hovered over you, stroking his cock leisurely. He pressed it against your cheek, the warm, velvety head smearing pre-cum against your cheek. You tried to turn, but he used his free hand to hold your head still, shutting his eyes as he enjoyed himself.
“Fuck, even your cheek is so soft…” he murmured.
You whined but he shushed you, pressing a finger to your lips as he stroked himself faster, harder, Jungkook deep strokes sliding you up and down the bed. He used your face to stimulate the head, your lips, your cheeks, rocking his hips, smacking you in your face with his balls. Over and over as Jungkook thrust into you, watching your wanton expression as Taehyung’s pre-cum coated your skin. You could hear Taehyung’s breathing becoming shallow, clenching his jaw and closing his eyes.
“Gonna cum on your pretty tits, noona,” Taehyung murmured. “All over your tits, and then I’m going to fuck your mouth.”
You whimpered, watching his shoulders tense as he raised himself over you, Jungkook still fucking you agonizingly slowly, his thick cock stretching you out as Taehyung sucked in a breath, hissing your name tightly. You could only watch, breathless, as white strings squirted out, smacking you hotly in the chest with his thick cum, shuddering as you felt it spread out like fucking cake icing on your nipples and breasts. Jungkook moaned, watching the cum drip downwards, all over your skin.
“Open up,” Taehyung commanded and you opened your mouth. He slid in, readjusting himself so that he was above your head, legs on either side of you, facing Jungkook. He filled your mouth, almost too much even though he just orgasmed. You had to push your head up so he sank deeper into your throat, sticky from Taehyung’s cum soaking into your chest.
Oh, fuuuuck.
Stuffed from front to back, tits covered in cum, neck and back arched uncomfortably to accommodate the two cocks spearing into you, pussy throbbing and orgasming at the thought alone. And feeling it, oh God, feeling so full, so dirty, so used by both Taehyung and Jungkook at the same time made your eyes roll back into your head, tightening the muscles of both holes, muffled moans as you heard Jungkook grunt with effort and Taehyung’s hiss of pleasure. Taehyung controlled the pace as he fucked your face, carefully thrusting into your throat, staring at Jungkook’s dark hair bouncing as he fucked you.
Jungkook seemed to feel his gaze. He looked up.
Taehyung cocked an eyebrow at him.
Then he grabbed Jungkook’s head and forced it down, Jungkook’s eyes widening as he watched your cum-covered tits bounce back and forth, hard nipples swaying in the air. He rammed his hips into you and you whimpered, breasts bouncing harder so he fucked you even rougher, fascinated. Wet, lewd slapping sounds as he watched Taehyung’s cock disappear and reappear from your throat, covered in saliva, so messy that you were drooling down your chin, whining as you gripped his sheets. He felt liquid leaking down his thighs from your orgasms, your pussy clenching around him.
It was so much, so fucking much, Jungkook lifting your legs so he could go deeper, rubbing against your clit punishingly as Taehyung fucked your mouth, his tense thighs indicating that he was close. It made your entire body strain with effort and pleasure, head empty except chasing your orgasm over and over, smitten with the idea of being used like a fucktoy.
“S-so fucking good,” Taehyung groaned. “Such a good girl, taking so much cock all at once.”
“Fuck, I’m going to–”
But Jungkook didn’t get to finish because you wailed around Taehyung’s cock, pussy throbbing as you came, ripping his orgasm from him. He gasped sharply, slamming into you as his cock jerked into your walls, pulsing with you, gripping his entire length. So tight, but soft, his eyelids fluttering at the experience.
It only took Taehyung a few more pumps before he moaned your name, spilling down your throat, almost falling onto Jungkook as you sucked it out of him, swallowing greedily. He inhaled sharply as he snapped his head down to watch your throat constrict repeatedly, drinking it all and squeezing the head with your lips. Taehyung taped your side repeatedly, trying to get you to release him.
“Please, noona, too s-sensitive…”
You unlocked your jaw, gulping a huge vat of air as you realized you could breathe again. Taehyung pushed himself off you, falling against the wooden headboard as Jungkook carefully pulled out. You whined at the loss, back and neck aching. Every nerve hummed, brimming with pleasure, shaking you to your core.
It was glorious.
You panted, lowering your head to look down at Jungkook, dark eyes flashing as sweat from his angular jaw dripped onto your legs. He smirked at you, peeling the condom off and wrapping his hand around his still-hard, slick cock. Your breath caught in your throat as he began to furiously jack himself off, scooting on his knees to get closer to you, right in between your legs.
“J-Jungkook…”
The mole under his chin winked at you as he grinned. “Do you love it when you’re covered in cum, noona?” he panted, licking his lips. “Do you love it when Taehyung and I cum all over you?”
You moaned, your hands sliding up your breasts, smearing Taehyung’s drying cum even more, pinching your nipples as Jungkook gasped, pupils blown wide, eyes locked on your every move.
“Yes, Jungkook, I love it. I love being covered in your and Taehyung’s cum.”
He hissed, hips rocking into his hand as you made your lewd, obscene noises, body shaking as you waited for him. It didn’t take him very long before he groaned, towering over you as it shot out of him, showering you with creamy, salty strings of his orgasm. You dipped your fingers into it, scooping it into your mouth, sighing in satisfaction as Jungkook’s taste mixed with Taehyung’s in your throat, eating up as much a you could, and wiping the rest on your skin, relishing in the dirty act.
You were already prepared to do it again.
You heard Jungkook stumble off to the bathroom as you laid there, panting.
"Are you happy?" Taehyung asked, reaching down to pat your head.
You grinned, bending your head back to look up at him upside down. He seemed surprised at your energy but smiled as you licked your lips, eyes clouded with lust.
"So, so happy, Taehyungie."
He chuckled, dark eyes gazing into yours. You sensed a shift in his demeanor. For some reason, a calm, comforting feeling came over you when Taehyung looked at you. He bent down, his hands cupping your face, thumbs caressing your cheeks. He whispered your name, low and secretive, sending a shiver down your spine. You stared into his neck, watching his Adam’s apple bob as he spoke. His breath against your lips, tickling them.
"I’ll give you whatever you want."
You blinked slowly, lips parting. Now his lips were even closer, touching yours.
"I'll do everything in my power to satisfy you."
And then Taehyung kissed you, intoxicating you with his touch, his scent, his intensity of his lips against yours, tongue thrusting into your mouth. You moaned, thighs rubbing together, clutching Jungkook's sheets, your body trembling as you kissed him. He held you protectively, fingertips pressing into your skin.
"Damn, do you two need a room?" came Jungkook's amused voice.
You broke the kiss softly, pecking Taehyung on the nose lightly before sliding down to Jungkook’s playful expression at the foot of the bed. He was holding a towel, raising at eyebrow at you. You sat up, grinning far too wide, making his smile falter a bit.
“Uh oh.”
“Come here, Jungkookie…”
“Please, we’re only men–gah!”
-
The next day, you dragged a seat next to Taehyung's gaming chair. He looked up as you sat down, still scrolling with his mouse.
"What's up?" he asked. His voice was smooth, even. He gave you a quizzical look as you laid your head against his shoulder. "You want to fuck again?" he added, smirking.
"No," you pouted, nestling your head on his shoulder. He was reading the new set of League of Legends patch notes. "Just want to be near you."
You saw the reflection of his smile in the computer monitor. He reached over and patted your head, making you hum in bliss. You two stayed like that for a moment, him scrolling periodically as he read, your head against his shoulder.
Jungkook popped in, wearing a leather jacket over his white hoodie and jeans. He waved a USB drive.
"Gotta drop this off. I'll be back," he said merrily to Taehyung before leaning down to kiss you on the cheek. You turned your head, meeting his lips, and snuck your tongue into his mouth.
Jungkook pulled back quickly, narrowing his eyes at you. "No. Bad girl."
You blinked innocently at him. "What'd I do?"
Jungkook glared at you, trying not to smile. "I have things to do. Let me kiss you normally."
Taehyung laughed deep from his chest, rumbling his shoulder you were leaning against. "Good luck with that."
Your smile widened. Smugly.
Too smugly.
Jungkook backed away, pointing a finger at you. He was smiling too now, playful and mirthful.
"Later, you horny little seductress."
He left, winking.
Taehyung patted your head again, his large hand massaging your scalp.
"You sure you don't want to fuck?" he teased.

I LOVE No Straight Roads
Honestly it’s hard to keep me away from a game with great visuals and even greater character design. I knew from the INSTANT I saw these characters that I was going to love it. I just finished it because it’s (unfortunately) pretty short, and even though I cheesed the final boss through it’s very lenient death mechanics (Instant respawn at the cost of a good rank) I actually appreciated that it wasn’t a pure cake walk. I’ve yet to rematch all of the bosses, but since I had genuine trouble with the later ones I’ll hold off on that.
But who cares about gameplay, am I right? I sure as hell don’t. I would’ve bought the game no matter what the hell it was. I wanted the characters (and the music, although I realized that second) and that was it.
First of all, I love any world that is super fantastical but cheesy in its concept, ala a city powered by music, and battles between artists using music. Ideas like this only spawn from a mind that wants to create a fun atmosphere, if nothing else, and it was sure as hell fun. I genuinely love when someone goes so far into a crazy idea and doesn’t waste your time explaining it with real world logic. Wanna know how a city can be powered by music? Shut up and look at the cute virtual mermaid. Lord knows I did. Every once in a while, it does you good to just let the player/reader/viewer just revel in the idea without having to go out of your way to make things seem realistic. It’s not about “turning your brain off” or whatever, it’s picking your battles.
Also, I can seriously love a world with great background characters to it. Any game with the right situation to insert the random nobodies you find onto the streets into the art in the credits really played into the greatness of the world’s less important characters, and that’s always a good thing. It’s technically world building. But, since I always love to pick favorites, I’d have to say my favorite background character is easily Mia, the NSR infodesk assistant. It’s funny, because you can literally search “nsr characters” into Google and she’s the third image result. I love how jumpy she is when you first interact with her, since NSR probably spread the word about B2J suggesting they’re rock thugs who’d beat up anyone, so for all she knows she could die right then and there with a guitar lodged in her skull. She’s probably just some intern trying to pay for college. She don’t want trouble.
Also, I just realized that 90% of the characters in this game have the same body structure that I always love, that being having arms/legs that sort of fan out in width into relatively large hands/feet. It’s a kind of limb structure I fall into so much because it just really hits me right for some reason. I really can’t explain why.
Anyways, I gotta talk about the big boys individually:
Mayday and Zuke are an amazing duo. I’m always a sucker for a cute and crazy girl, but honestly Zuke hit so many of the right notes too. I will say it’s weird to pair the martian Zuke with the humanly-skinned Mayday, but honestly it doesn’t even matter because he looks so cool on his own. I love his weird blocky blue dreadlocks, and his weirdly shaped shirt which bares his chest in the weirdest way... And, oh my god, Mayday’s weird Spongebob background flower eyes? It’s little tidbits like that that really make me jealous. How could I have ever thought of that? It looks so perfect, and I don’t know why. And her little booty jig she does in her idle animation? Adorable. I played as her as much as was reasonable not only because I’m a filthy button masher with little strategy but also because she’s so damn cute. I can also appreciate how she has a tough-as-nails persona while still keeping a semi-girly attitude, like with her falling for 1010 and Sayu. Characters are so much better when they’re a perfect blend of characteristics, instead of being all one-note, like how Zuke is the quiet one but gets heated against DK West, and all.
Honestly the voice acting for every character is great, but I love when Mayday’s VA’s accent shows through. It’s a perfect twang to accent (consider this the only acknowledgement of a pun in this post) her snarkiness.
DJ Subatomic Supernova was going to be an easy favorite since he’s all space-themed. Also, I don’t know why I always end up liking the egotistic characters. Not in the sense that I like their egotistic-ness, but in the sense that I like everything else about them and they just so happen to also be egotistic. The same applied with Empoleon (maybe like my 2nd favorite Pokemon) and Rarity from MLP, probably among others. Either way, I’ll never not love space themes. Not to mention he’s got a funky disco theme, and I’m slowly starting to realize that I am in extreme love with techno-funk styles of music. The instant I heard his music he cemented his place into my playlists.
As for design, I still have no idea what the fuck he is. Clearly AI is at human levels in this world, but if he’s a robot why does he still have hairy legs? But, if he’s a human, is that weird orb his head? Is it just some sort of puppet which he controls from inside his giant jacket? I know I dissed explaining things realistically but I actually want to know with this guy. Even the wiki doesn’t say. Either way, he’s clearly the logical extreme of “being at the center of your own universe.” Even his jacket depicts a solar system, with his hood being the sun. Didn’t see that until I tried to draw him. I really wish this guy wasn’t so tied to his DJ stand so I could reasonably draw him without it. I don’t want to draw his hairy ass legs. It is a great touch for his design though (although I prefer his beta look with pants and long boots, another design trait I tend to gravitate to) since DJs could reasonably not wear pants, since they’re always behind a table.
Sayu is my favorite. It’s so plainly obvious. It’s weird to say that sometimes, because some characters like Sayu are so clearly engineered to be as adorable as possible, to the point where they’re basically a parody of whatever they’re supposed to be emulating, but then they do that so well that they are still likable for what they’re trying to parody. Also, even though I’ve never looked into any vocaloid superstars myself, the fact that they exist and are loved in real life is absolutely perfect to be used as a character design in a world like this. It’s so weird conceptually, but we all know it’s normal and realistic. But yeah, she’s a giga-cutie whom I’ve already drawn and I’ve listened to her theme on loop on many different occasions. Favorite character, favorite track, favorite weapon of choice (What did I say about Empoleon?), which, and I wouldn’t have noticed this myself, looks like the USB symbol you see above USB ports on computers. How crazy perfect is that?
Even apart from my unbridled love for cute monster robot(?) girls, her boss fight is probably the 2nd greatest of them all, at least conceptually. She’s just a hologram, so you can’t touch her, but you CAN disconnect the artists which control her in order to defeat her. It’s the kind of concept for a boss fight that could only work for this type of character. I’m a sucker for the cute girl that provides her voice, but I love how the animator (video editor? the yellow one) actually attacks you with a mouse and lowers the brightness of the setting once he appears. Also, the mocap guy being the deeply-voiced type but still providing the adorable movements of her body. It’s such a great combo of characters, and their little extra art in the credits makes me like them even more. I just wish we could interact with them individually.
DK West was probably one of the most interesting characters visually, especially since I knew of every other NSR member long before the game came out, but I only just heard of him closer to the release. I wasn’t sure where he was placed, but I definitely assumed his gig was the weird shadow demon we saw in the trailers. When I finally saw him in game, I was shocked to hear him speak an entirely different language most of the time, which was really cool. Also, finding out he was tied to Zuke and wasn’t strictly an NSR artist really made him more interesting. You know, if his fucking shadow clone magic didn’t make him crazy cool enough. Even though I suck at his game and am not especially fond of his raps, the visual of him rapping with this giant monster behind him and dozens of weird shadow wingmen by his side hyping him up was probably one of the coolest in the entire game. The dark way they were hyping him up too gave such a bizarre atmosphere, especially since it parallels his seemingly chill and smiley demeanor.
I definitely hope they’ll introduce new bosses as DLC in the future, and make them sort of in the same vein as DK West, where they aren’t the biggest artists ever, but they want to pick a fight with B2J. I’d kill for any extra content this game can provide.
Yinu is obviously special since she was the subject of the demo they put out for the game. Even though I knew all her bells and whistles, she and her mom still beat me a few times in the full game. Considering she’s semi-tied to story-ish spoilers I kinda want to go more into her in a separate section. It is worth considering playing the game first since it’s not hard (with the easy going deaths) and it’s short length.
1010 seriously grew on me as I learned more about them and interacted with them. I got their shtick when I first looked at them, but after seeing that animation of them touring the city on Youtube I was kinda falling for them. Then, I learned that they’re apparently repurposed navy war robots? I mean, maybe not them specifically, but it seems to heavily point in that direction, with the warship cars and “attention!”s and all. It took me a bit to get into their music too, but once I actually fought them and put their actions to the music I fell in love with it. I swear, Neon J’s weird dancing can has some of the smoothest moves in all of gaming. I don’t know whether they mocapped out those movements or got one of the greatest animators ever, but it looks so impossibly clean his part of the song gets me like 30x more hype than it would normally.
Also, their little art piece of them looking at fan mail in the credits is probably one of the most adorable things ever. Even if they’re just Neon J’s puppets, that piece of art really makes it seem like they love every one of their fans. I’m not gonna lie, I might swoon a bit too if they picked me out and gave me some special attention.
Oh yeah, and the fact that Mayday was super sad in her showstopper against them was adorable and hilarious at the same time. The little tweaks they made to the showstopper for each fight were great.
Eve just has to be Lady Gaga, right? Like, an even crazier Lady Gaga. DJSS is Daft Punk (or any artist with a helmet persona, you know what I’m talking about), Sayu is Hatsune Miku, DK West is Kanye West, Yinu is a generic child protege, 1010 is a KPop boyband (just pick one) and Eve is Lady Gaga. That’s just how things are. But, again, this is the kind of boss fight that only this type of character could provide. It’s not just surreal imagery, it’s ARTISTIC surreal imagery. The fight is so mesmerizing in every way, especially by how it starts off so slow and calm and progresses to insanity, as well as the increased emotional investment in the fight making you feel so much more into it than just “That’s the boy band. Let’s fight.” Not only does it get you more invested, but it makes her artistic persona go deeper than just “she looks weird.” She is genuinely conflicted about her relationship with Zuke, and naturally that leads her to literally split him and Mayday apart. That mechanic specifically was the coolest, although I do wish they made it more obvious when you needed to switch over to a different side. I was getting pulverized by her fight too, since there were so many things to pay attention to. Her fight was definitely the best one.
Tatiana and Spoilers:
Let’s be real with ourselves, the twist was so obvious. I do also think, though, that obvious twists aren’t bad if they’re just good reveals. At some point, a person just has experienced so many stories that “only pretty good” twists are easy to spot. It doesn’t mean that the twists are bad, it just means you yourself experienced.
I feel like her transition from rock to EDM was pretty understandable, even as a non-musician. She was so caught up in what she assumed was popular that it basically consumed her. It’s easy as an artist to want to forgo what you truly want to make in favor of what makes you popular, and clearly since her transition to EDM made her the CEO of the biggest company in the city (world?) that probably made her think she truly needed to change her outlook. Then, when she saw B2J try to bring it back, she sort of coined them as being as misguided as she was and knocked them down a peg. Plus, they were kinda being jerks about it.
It’s kinda like the Trolls sequel, where everyone pegs rock music fanatics as being too stuck up in their own heads to appreciate other types of music, which honestly seems more like the case than the alternative. When I first heard of the story of the game, I was seriously hoping they did put an asterisk on B2J’s ambitions because they were a bit sketchy from the start.
That’s kinda where I want to talk about Yinu, because she was the true turning point in what they were doing. She’s literally 9 and yet she’s getting dragged into all this BS. When she said “I hate you all” at the end of her fight, and played a somber tune on her broken piano after the fight destroyed it, you kinda got a kick in the face to realize you’re kinda being an asshole to some of them. Sure, they fight back, but they wouldn’t fight in the first place if they didn’t have to. They are just people who play music under a joint name that B2J just so happened to get in hot water with.
Then, of course, there’s Kliff, who also reeked of surprise villain, and who’s basically the embodiment of the bad side of B2J, where he just wanted to destroy for his own sake and not for the actual greater good. Once B2J realized their mistake, they backed off, but Kliff was so hard pressed to do what he planned on in the first place he wouldn’t stop. I kinda wish he got a bigger fight to his own since he’s clearly a big enough tech genius to divert a whole satellite into one specific building. Maybe the Elliecopter chase bit was his thing, but I do kind of wish he was there to fight against them too.
Even though Tatiana did kind of reform a bit quick, It’s still not too crazy to assume she could see that B2J was just misguided and the fact that they worked to revert their wrongdoings for her sake would make a pretty strong impressions. They clearly can hold their own, so it’s not like she wouldn’t want them to join NSR too.
Oh yeah, and her boss fight was clock/time themed. If there’s a theme under space that I love, it’s clocks/time.
And If I am to be respected by the internet, I must provide a negative opinion to balance out my positive one. I will say that the character model physics (like Mayday’s braids, DK West’s vest thing, Neon J’s fluffy neck thing, etc) got kinda funky at times. Especially DK West’s vest, which was completely messed up for every scene he was in... Also, even though the voices are mostly great, some lines felt a bit off. Just a bit. That good enough? Good.
But yeah anyway that’s another favorite game to add to the pile. Eventually I’m gonna have to compile a true list of my all-time favorite games/movies because I do kind of want to have a solid idea of what my all-time favorites are.

This is a great article about how The Card Counter managed to finish principal photography after getting shut down mid-March due to COVID-19.
Also, it includes this interesting description from Paul Schrader about Oscar Isaac’s character, William Tell -- “So now I have a character and he’s in his room, he’s alone. And he has a mask on. And the mask he wears is a professional poker player. And the problem that runs alongside him is that he is a former torturer for the U.S. government. So it’s a mix of the World Series of Poker and Abu Ghraib.”
Tumblr media
Having somehow weathered his way from enfant terrible to wizened survivor, Paul Schrader is a filmmaker who is simply not finished yet. Every time it might seem his career is on the wane, he resets, revitalizes and comes back again.
Just a few years after his 2014 film “Dying of the Light” starring Nicolas Cage was taken away from him by financiers — leading Schrader to disavow the movie — he received his first Oscar nomination (for original screenplay) after directing “First Reformed,” which was released in 2018 and starred Ethan Hawke as a troubled small-town minister.
Schrader’s work is marked by emotional intensity, intellectual vitality and an aesthete’s appreciation of style. His filmography is full of unusual corners that are still being discovered. The 1979 film “Old Boyfriends,” directed by Joan Tewkesbury with a screenplay by Schrader and his brother Leonard, was recently rereleased on home video. As was the 1990 film “The Comfort of Strangers,” directed by Schrader from a screenplay by Harold Pinter.
He’s been directing films from his own scripts since 1978’s “Blue Collar” starring Richard Pryor, Harvey Keitel and Yaphet Kotto. He went on to write and direct such films as “Hardcore,” “American Gigolo,” “Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters,” “Light Sleeper” and “Affliction.” His celebrated work as a screenwriter for director Martin Scorsese includes “Taxi Driver,” “Raging Bull,” “The Last Temptation of Christ” and “Bringing Out the Dead.”
Never one to shy from controversy onscreen or off, he directed Lindsay Lohan in the 2013 Hollywood-set thriller “The Canyons,” written by Bret Easton Ellis.
In March, Schrader was about three-quarters through the shoot for his next film, “The Card Counter,” in Mississippi — with a cast that includes Oscar Isaac, Tiffany Haddish, Tye Sheridan and Willem Dafoe — when the production was shut down due to the growing pandemic. In July, Schrader was able to shoot for an additional five days to complete production.
During the break in shooting, “The Card Counter” was picked up for distribution by Focus Features.
Schrader recently got on the phone to talk about the unusual circumstances of the film’s production and completion. A film critic before he became a filmmaker, Schrader not only had startling insights into his work, but also thoughts about what filmmaking and exhibition might be like in a post-COVID world.
Tumblr media
Before we start talking about the production on the movie, could you just describe the story? What is “The Card Counter” about?
Well, I don’t want to get too deeply involved in the plot, but what I will say is over the years I’ve kind of developed my own little genre of films. And they usually involve a man alone in a room, wearing a mask, and the mask is his occupation. So it could be a taxi driver, a drug dealer, a gigolo, a reverend, whatever. And I take that character and run it alongside a larger problem, personal or social. It could be debilitating loneliness like in “Taxi Driver.” It could be a midlife crisis like in “Light Sleeper.” It could be an environmental crisis like in “First Reformed.”
So now I have a character and he’s in his room, he’s alone. And he has a mask on. And the mask he wears is a professional poker player. And the problem that runs alongside him is that he is a former torturer for the U.S. government. So it’s a mix of the World Series of Poker and Abu Ghraib.
Tumblr media
How did you come to put those two things together?
I’m always looking for that. I’m looking for deep-seated problems, either personal or societal, and some kind of oddball metaphor. The more you get closer, you run these two wires next to each other, the more sparks you see flying across. And it’s in the sparks that the viewer comes alive. If the wires ever touch, there’s nothing left for the viewer to do. But if you keep these two wires really close to each other, the viewer will start to spark from one wire to the other. And that’s the greatest thing you can give a viewer or a reader, an opportunity to be part of the creation.
Let’s talk about the production and everything you’ve been through. Take me back to March. What was it like for you when the production had to shut down?
I have learned in my dotage how to make a quality film on a low budget. So the film I used to make in 40 days I now make in 20. And so “First Reformed” was 20. I had shot in Biloxi 15 days. Now I knew coronavirus was going to be rising, because when I heard that Macau shut down, I said, you know, it’s just a matter of time. Macau is the wealthiest gambling center in the world and I’m here in the gambling center of the Gulf. If Macau shuts down, it’ll reach Vegas, it’ll reach here. And we were doing a scene, a poker tournament with 500 extras. And I remember I said to the A.D., “We can’t put 500 people in a room without one of them being positive.” And sure enough, one of them was. Two days later, we not only closed down, all of the Gulf was closed down.
Fortunately, when I went back, I had shot my big crowd scenes. And also I had shot my sex scenes, which I would have hated to try to do under these restrictions. So all I had left when I went back was a number of scenes in the prisons, and four more scenes in the casinos, some driving scenes. So I was in pretty good shape. But I really wanted to finish the film.
Tumblr media
And Oscar Isaac, he was on his way to Hungary to do reshoots for “Dune.” And he wanted to put off this reshoot till after “Dune” — to do it in September because he has a big beard and he didn’t want to shave off his beard. I said to him, “Oscar, there’s a window open right now in Mississippi.” I said, “If we don’t jump into this window while it’s open, this will become one of those famous films that never got finished, and we’ve got to exploit this moment.”
So I talked him off the ledge and he agreed to do it. And we were able to put everybody back together and do our week of prep and five days of shooting. It was very strange, and in a way it was kind of fun, in a summer camp sort of way. But I would hate, hate to make a whole film this way. It was an adventure for five days, it’s a nightmare for five weeks.
Tumblr media
In the break from March to July, were you on high alert that you could come back at any moment? Were you editing the footage you already had?
Here’s what happened. I was editing. My editor is in New Jersey and my assistant editor is in Tennessee, so we’re all editing virtually. And I had four major dialogue scenes between my principal characters that I had not shot. Then I was able to screen virtually the film for a number of people I respect, like Scorsese, who is the executive producer, like [filmmaker and programmer] Kent Jones and other people. And what I asked them all is, “I have four more scenes to shoot. I can rewrite them. What am I missing? What do I need to add? How should I write these four scenes?”
And I started getting feedback about what they felt was missing. So I was able to rewrite these scenes and make these relationships much better. And not all productions get to do that. It’s a very expensive reshoot, but it was built-in that three-quarters of the way through, I have an opportunity to rewrite one-quarter of the meaningful character scenes. So I did, I rewrote it. And I realized what was missing. And I wouldn’t have realized that if I was shooting at the top. I would have only realized that in post. And I would have walked around the room kicking myself in the ass, saying, “I wish I had the opportunity to reshoot some scenes.”
How was getting everything back together?
As soon as Mississippi allowed us to come back, we came back. And of course nobody’s working, so everybody’s eager to come back. They are hyper-conscientious because they know they are only being allowed to work by the grace of God. And so the masks and the PPE and the hands and the distancing, you don’t need to tell any of the people this. They’re so happy to be at work. They have no problem with any of that.
You can only have one person within six feet of your actor at a time. That person could be hair, it could be makeup, it could be props, it can be the director, it could be another actor. And you kind of queue up. And a thing that I realized, we had a warehouse. So we did rehearsals for every scene in this warehouse. And I told the actors that when we get to the location, to the casino, the prop people will be in there, the lighting people will be there and then you will walk there with your mask on, and you will take the positions that you took in rehearsal. Then I will roll camera and you will take your masks off and we’ll play the scenes. So that’s how we did it.
Given everything that it takes to get to shooting, once you were back on set with the actors, did you still feel like they could give you the performances that you needed? Was it difficult to get to a place of artistic creation given all the other concerns that everyone has?
Because they had done the rehearsals, they had gone through the permutations of their performances before. So the only thing different for them was that they were in a real space rather than a fake space. As I explained to them, there would be no time for exploration on set. All the exploration you are going to do, we’re going to do here in the warehouse. I don’t want to hear one peep from you about changing anything once we get into this hothouse environment. So however many hours we have to spend in the warehouse, let’s spend it.
How close to finished are you with the movie now, considering you had a lot of it already cut together?
Basically, I’m finished, down to an hour and 49 minutes, which is where I think it should be. Obviously, I have to do the score, there’s the post-prod and the special effects, but the thing is that there’s no pressure to finish the film anymore at this time. I was talking to Focus, and I could give them the film in a month. They don’t want the film in a month because they don’t know what to do with it in a month. They said, you just take whatever time you need, which is the opposite of the way studios usually talk. I also have final cut, so it doesn’t really matter. What I deliver, I deliver.
When you made “The Canyons” you talked a lot about your feelings regarding the theatrical experience, VOD and streaming and contemporary filmmaking. What impact do you think the COVID shutdowns will have on movie theaters?
There’s a certain kind of film like “The Canyons,” which should be made for VOD, which is a kind of exploitation film. And there’s another kind of film like “First Reformed” that has to be mounted by film festivals and art-house cinemas, so that it has an identity prior to VOD. So if you’re on VOD and you see an Ethan Hawke film about a minister, you’re not going to say, “Oh, let’s watch that.” No, what you’re going to say is, “Oh, I heard about that film. I heard it was good.” Well, how did they hear it was good? They heard that from film festival reportage and they heard from their friends who have seen it at theaters. So that sets up VOD.
The opposite case is a film like “First Cow,” a film that was crushed by not having a theatrical window. And everybody is, “Should I watch ‘First Cow’?” They have no context. So what’s important for a film like “The Card Counter” is we have to give it context. We have to go to the festivals and we have to go to the art cinemas to tell people what we have in our hands. Then we can go to VOD, where the real money is. So “First Reformed” went to Telluride, Toronto, Venice and New York. That set the table. I would love to set the table for this one. I can go to all those festivals. That’s not a problem for me anymore. The problem is: Are festivals going to happen?
Tumblr media
Do you think theaters are going to come back?
Not in the way they did. There are only four reasons for theaters to exist anymore. And this situation has accelerated these trends. Like symphonies and operas and live theater, concerts, they need a reason to exist. One reason is family cinema, because parents love to see their kids interacting with other kids. Animation films will always have an audience. Another is extraordinary spectacle. IMAX, virtual, whatever they come up with. Something you can’t see at home. The third is date movies for high schoolers, which is horror and rom-coms. Or rather, dirty rom-coms.
And then the fourth is club cinema. Which used to be called art cinema. But with these new institutions that are a combination of social institutions and cinematic institutions. So the Metrograph in New York has one restaurants and two bars. There’s more square footage devoted to eating and drinking than there is to watching movies. And yet it’s always full because people want to be in that environment. So then alcohol’s become the new popcorn. And those club cinemas, which were pioneered by Alamo, they will continue to exist because people want to be part of the club, people want to buy a membership. They want to eat and hang out, and they want to know which films have been approved by the club. Which is something you cannot get from VOD.
When “First Reformed” was coming out, you spoke about how you had made it thinking it could be your last film. And yet you seem so reenergized over the last few years. Do you feel that way? Have you been able to hit the reset button in some way?
Oddly, yes. I’m in the middle of a new script, which is about a horticulturalist. And what has happened in my case, following the disastrous situation I went through with “Dying of the Light,” I said, I would no longer work unless I had final cut. And once I got final cut, I was free. When I began, you didn’t really need final cut. When I was working in the studio system, all those other films, you were working with people who knew movies, who liked movies. Who you can talk to, you could disagree with — things would get changed, sometimes they’d get better, sometimes for worse in your mind, but you were working with people who liked movies, who watched movies. In the last 15 years, I’m dealing mainly with financiers, who not only don’t watch movies, don’t even particularly like them. And how can you have discussions with these people? And that’s what final cut freed me from, because I realized I couldn’t talk to these people. I wasn’t talking to [studio executives like] Barry Diller and Thom Mount and Ned Tanen anymore. I was talking to Joe Schmo from some hedge fund and I couldn’t talk to Joe Schmo. The only way I could talk to him was to have final cut.
I’m certainly excited to see what becomes of “The Card Counter.”
The new one is quite good. Focus told me not to hump it too much because that’s their job down the line. But you can take my word for it, it’s quite good.

When I say "It Gets Better", I mean it! (October 3rd, 2011)
I just finished watching Anderson Cooper's show on "bullying in schools". Sparked by the death of Jamey Rodemeyer, it started an interesting conversation between my husband and myself. Anderson had several stories of kids. Some who committed suicide and a few that are still here dealing with the problem. All sad stories that brought up memories of my teen years.
Jamey Rodemeyer
As I remember, the kids who were picked on were the outcasts. The "not-so-attractive", the "feminine boys", the kids  who were different in appearance and attitude were all fair game. Given the fact that my grandmother kept my hair in cornrow braids when I was in elementary school, I was most definitely considered to be a "sissy". I was constantly being told "Oh...what a cute little girl". Of course while all the other boys were interested in sports and outdoor activities, I was only interested in music and art. Both of my uncles played football. It never struck a chord with me. I would rather be in the backyard playing wit my grandmother's old pots and pans.
By the time I reached Junior High School, the bullying had escalated into pushing and tripping in the halls. Although I am very tall today, I was quite the skinny runt back in the 7th grade. My worst bully was a kid named Craig. I won't reveal his last name, but anyone who remembers me from back then would know who he is. And Craig made my life a living hell. I was afraid to walk home from school. I had to find alternative routes every other day. The worst part was that he lived right around the corner from house.
My childhood, like many out there, was filled with adversity. My mother and father married too young and were not ready to be parents. I ended up being raised by my grandmother, but by my teen years my parents had made a couple of cameos in my life. Since I was the first grandchild, my grandmother sorta let me express myself the way I wanted to. She said nothing when I would run and grab her wigs to do little shows for the family at Christmas time. She always encouraged me to sing and dream of being a star. Coincidentally, earlier today on Dr. Phil he had the author of "My Princess Boy". Sure wish that book would have been around I was coming up.
So, between the absence of my parents and also being molested by a family member, I had some days that really made me question why I was here. What did I have to live for? And believe it or not...the thought of suicide never crossed my mind. For some reason, I actually believed that there was going to be a tomorrow. I knew that one day I would be in control of me. That voice in my head that told me that I could survive this period in my life kept me alive. It made me want to show all the bullies and the P.E. coach that told me that I was never gonna be nothing that I was someone.
In 1980, I had a friend who worked at the Tampa Tribune named Kim Eisler who introduced me to the world of journalism. During one of the cameos of my mother back in the late 70's, Kim was our neighbor. He was a great influence on me. He took me to work with him and I met a lot of the editors. So, one day when my mother was at work, I got dressed in my Sunday best and walked downtown to the Tribune building. I lied to the the front desk and said I had an appointment with the City Editor, Joe Registrado. He remembered meeting me and said that I could come up. And off the top of my head at the age of 12, I came up with a small presentation with my hand written newspaper that myself, Travis Oullette and Gino Marino  produced and sold around school with some drawings that I had done. I told Joe that I wanted to write for the Tampa Tribune and that the paper needed a column for its younger readers. He sat and listened then left me in the conference room for about ten minutes. When he returned, he told me that I was hired for the summer. This would change my life forever.
The first article I wrote for the Tampa Tribune.
When I started at Wilson Junior High back in Tampa, I felt confident that everyone was going to want to be my friend. I had articles in the local newspaper and I had collected all of the promo material that they threw out for all the latest music acts out of the time. Back then, promo kits came with folders that were made to look like the album covers. So, I used those as my school folders. I had photos of the stars and had plenty of stories about what I had learned that summer while working for the paper.
Of course you know, those things were impressive to some, but not to all. Craig hated me even more! And to make matters worse, his girlfriend Felicia seemed to have a crush on me. So, he made it his mission to embarrass and humiliate me every chance he got. And with 7th grade also came showers after P.E. Not such a good idea for a young gay boy who is beginning to notice how bodies change with puberty. I did get caught a couple of times looking a little too long in the locker room, which made the teasing worse.
So, as I explained before, I had to find different ways to walk home to avoid Craig after school. But something interesting happened that school year. One day, I had taken a long route home only to find Craig sitting on my steps when I got there. Extremely scared, I started to walk fast in the other direction. He said to me "I'm not gonna bother you" and then I sat down beside him and we had a conversation about if I liked boys. After "him-hawing" around the subject, I finally confessed that I did like boys. And to my surprise, he didn't beat me up. He actually leaned over and kissed me. This was my first kiss and it came from the school bully. The boy who everyone thought would be a future football star that all the girls thought was dreamy was the first boy I kissed.
It was in that moment that I realized that the voice in head that told me that "it wasn't always gonna be like this" was right. Oh sure....I still had some bad bullying days ahead of me. Craig did act like he was gonna beat up in front of the other guys around school, but I knew that one day I was gonna be in control of my own destiny. I would have the last say when it came to me.
I just wish that I could have told that to Jamey and all the others who took their lives because they couldn't see past the forest of teen-hood. And now the media is talking about anti-bullying laws (which is great), but how do we get to that teen out there who can't see past today, that teen who only dreams of going to school for one day without any trouble or name-calling.
I read some comments about Lady GaGa when she performed a special song at her show for Jamey. Some were saying "how dare she try to capitalize on his death". Others defended her and praised her for speaking out. I have been torn on her career since she started. I think she is a very talented individual. Without the gimmicks and costumes, I actually hear an artist in there. But in this media-crazed world we live in, you have to do something to be seen and heard. I believe she has the ability to be one of those icons who could change the world, but the imagery may get in the way. But I do believe she could be for bullying what Elizabeth Taylor was for the AIDS epidemic: a face and voice for awareness and activism.
The ironic thing is that Jamey actually had made an "It Gets Better" video just a few months before his suicide. He spoke of being inspired by Lady GaGa. I wonder what happened between then and the day he took his life. He seemed optimistic and as though he was dealing with the situation. But as his parents said, he put on a brave face for everyone else.
I am begging everyone to pay closer attention to your friends especially if they are being bullied. This isn't about sexuality. It's about making sure that the human spirit isn't broken so badly that someone would want to end their life. "Support Our Youth"!

you being the twin's editor and ethan lowkey having a crush on you and he gets jealous when you're with grayson? basically sad!ethan but ending in fluff?
HA I could picture this so clearly in my head lmao
It was obvious. Literally, the boy couldn’t be more obvious if he tried. Ethan had a crush on you. He was always a little flirty, then shy right after, afraid he’d gone too far. You’d catch him staring at you, looking you up and down when he thought you couldn’t see him.
When you would be on a long haul edit he’d bring you food (”I’d cook, but neither of us want that” he’d say), and without fail make you coffee without you even having to ask. Since he was technically your ‘boss’, you didn’t feel like you could make the first move, but damn you wished he would just get on with it. You had the same feelings for him, and it was getting harder and harder to not just say something
But one day, you’d be at the desk, editing a portion of the video where the boys had been surfing. You always kept one headphone out, and you got excited when you heard the door open.
Sure enough, it was Ethan, with your coffee in hand.
“Brought you some fuel. Damn, you’re moving quick through this one,” he’d smile as he looked at the screen.
“Why thank you,” you grinned, taking the coffee gratefully.
“Can I see this part? I was wondering how it was going to come together,” he asked.
“It’s not done yet, but sure,” you smiled, knowing that he wanted to see but also knowing that he was just making an excuse to spend more time with you. So you let the edit roll as far as you’d made it, noticing a few things you knew you wanted to go back and tweak.  When it stopped, you looked over to Ethan, who had an odd expression. It was a mixture of anger, and disappointment somehow.
“Does it look alright so far?” You asked, suddenly worried. You hadn’t done anything particularly different, and you were actually really liking how it was turning out.
“Yeah, no it’s great. I love it,” he smiled, standing up from the chair he’d settled in.
You were going to pry a bit, see what he didn’t like, but he was already standing and leaving. You frowned a bit, confused as he walked out the door. You tried to push it from your mind, grinding through the rest of the edit. On the final watch through, you realized what had been bothering him.
The surfing segment. The majority of it was Grayson talking, facing the camera, holding his surfboard or running along the beach, chest and abs on full display. And you’d had to cut some of Ethan’s full body shots, because someone had been a little... well... excited, and it was too noticeable for you to keep in. You’d been there to help with filming, and you’d made a mental note to cut it when you got the footage.
He was jealous, because he thought you put more of Grayson in on purpose.
Unable to help yourself, you busted out laughing.
‘What a sweet baby,” you mumbled to yourself, shaking your head and exporting the file before getting up and heading to the kitchen.
Grayson was cooking, per usual, with Ethan no where to be found. He was probably sulking - that was on brand. You laughed again, going up to the counter and jumping up.
“Something funny?” Grayson questioned.
“Your brother,” you chuckled, shaking your head.
“What’d he do now?”
“I think he’s pouting because he thinks I like shirtless you better than shirtless him,” you explained with a laugh. Grayson turned away from the stove at that, interest and eyebrow piqued. You explained what had happened, throwing in your suspicion that Ethan had a crush on you just to see his reaction. Grayson didn’t react in the slightest, proving your theory once and for all.
As if on cue, Ethan came into the kitchen, his face falling slightly when saw you two laughing together. He turned around, obviously hoping that no one noticed he’d come out at all.
“Go get him before he pouts for a fuckin’ month,” Grayson teased. “I’ll save you some tacos.”
With newfound confidence you made your way to Ethan’s room, butterflies in your stomach. You tried to stay out of your head, knowing that he liked you back and trying not to overthink how you were going to make the move.
He was sitting on his bed when you came in, laptop open playing Cudi on spotify - his sad music.
“Ethan,” you said, alerting him. He immediately sat up a bit straighter, running a hand through his hair to fix it. It actually made it worse, but it was adorable in it’s own way.
“Hey, what’s up?” He was trying to keep his voice steady, and failing miserably. It wasn’t the first time that you’d been in his room, but it was definitely the first time you were walking slowly towards his bed and sitting down on it. You were close to him, knees touching as you smiled.
“I was just wondering why you’re being mopey,” you said, feigning innocence.
“I-”
“Cause you have no reason to,” you cut him off with a smile. “There’s a reason I put more shirtless Grayson in the video than shirtless you.”
He faltered at that, unsure of what to say.
“Um, yeah, no I get it. The viewers usually like him shirtless, I know,” he mumbled, obviously uncomfortable.
“Actually, your abs have been looking better than his recently,” you corrected. His eyes shot up at that, cheeks flushing bright red.
‘Um, thanks?”
“I would have included a lot more of you, but I had to edit around, well, you know,” you said, raising an eyebrow.
“Huh?” He was entirely oblivious.
“Your dick. You literally had a boner like half the video.”
He balked. Definitely not what he was expecting you to say.
“Don’t worry, I didn’t mind the view,” you said before you could stop yourself.
His mouth opened a bit wider, still silent.
“You gonna say anything?” You asked after a minute - you could feel yourself blushing now. There was no going back.
“You, didn’t mind? What’s that supposed to mean?” He asked, face bright red.
“Well, you’re always checking me out. Consider it my turn,” you shrugged, grinning.
“I... do not,” he mumbled, but he was smiling his shy smile.
“Oh like hell!” You teased, reaching out and pushing his shoulder. “But hey, whatever it was on the beach that got you up, you should go after that cause apparently it was working. Except, maybe not while you’re on camera, huh? Editing around that was no fun.”
“Well, maybe if you didn’t wear a bikini top when you filmed we wouldn’t have that problem then would we?” His confidence was back behind his words, and now it was your turn to flush.
“Oh so you’re blaming me now?” You grinned, faking hurt. You hadn’t even realized that the two of you were leaning closer to each other the whole time, and now he wasn’t far away at all.
“Maybe.” He murmured, leaning in a bit closer. “Can I?” he asked, eye flitting down to your lips.
‘It’s about damn time,” you teased, closing the distance and pressing your lips to his.

Ok rant abt Black Cat( sorry it’s late)
They all looked amazing so stylists job well done for once. Screamed when JongKook came on. Their dancing seems to have improved a lot since immortal songs though I’m sure some of it came from the fact that they had more time to practice. There’s something abt Jongho’s styling that was really good. Maybe it was how his eyes matched his hair or the way his makeup was more subtle than the others but when I saw him I thought he’s the handsome vampire in books like if Edward had looked like Jongho I’d understand Bella’s obsession with him some more. Also the scene where he bowed and the rest came up behind him, was so cool. I really wish the videographer had focused more on the individuals then just group shots. Like the beginning with San and Jongho is so much nicer than what they had. Not just bc it added a story element to the video but also it was more personal given Ateez’s jokes that San is a cat. I also really wished the camera focused closer on Yunho and yeosang when yeosang is on Yunhos back. There was something deliciously creepy abt the way yeosang was crawling up his back at the poc concert but in the video it more of a group shot so the viewer couldn’t focus on YH and YS as much. Of course I really wish Jongho got some solo shots during is ending. Like I know the focus was on JK but come on. Also in immortal songs Jongho did the 6 note thing with a bit of scooping while in the video he hit the notes straight on. I don’t either is better but the scoping is a bit more prima donna-ish and if someone deserves to be a prima donna it’s Jongho. Also I know JK is older but like Ateez out classes him when it comes to body control and energy. Like I genuinely started laughing when he came on bc he was like this slow spot in the scene where Ateez is growing in energy and excitement. It kinda killed the energy of the ending. The videographer could’ve helped a little with like more cuts to break up JK’s dancing. So that it wasn’t so obvious but oh well. Well this was really long so kudos if you actually read it and thank you for letting me rant
I was wondering where you had gone after asking if you could rant aksdhfksg but I feel you!! especially about Jongho and  well, everything about the MV. I don’t know when they filmed but either the director or the editors didn’t have time to do a proper job... the MV just falls short in comparison to the energy the song has. Jongkook showing up was a nice touch imo, he’s a big senior so I’m happy to see ATEEZ getting on their seniors good side, especially since he has some connections on varieties so fingers corssed!! overall the MV wasn’t filmed properly and the messy editing was distracting more than adding to the creepy atmosphere, but at least we got a studio version!

#17 – We Go Live In Five Hours!
Scene 17: The Microsoft Theater at L.A. Live - Downtown Los Angeles - Daytime, Interior – Twelve O’clock Noon exact on Sunday November Twenty-Fourth, Twenty-Nineteen.
FINAL DRESS REHERSAL FOR THE AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS
TAYLOR SWIFT, POINT OF VIEW: Watches as the show director for the American Music Awards, Jeffery, tells the show’s stars sitting in audience seats that they must run the entire show from the top as a full dress rehearsal, again.
CHANGE CAMERA SHOT, we ZOOM in on Taylor Swift, slowly, panning from a full shot of the stage.
WRITER: Oh yeah, this is good stuff.  I really should start writing this as a screenplay from here on out, so that way after Taylor Swift finds it and reads it, and then sends it over to her friends that made that “Cats” movie—and I am in turn contacted by Taylor herself along with a big time studio in Hollywood to get this masterpiece made into a movie, the screenplay will already be ready!  And THEN I can be all like, hey Steven Spielberg, you want in on this? And he’ll be all like… “Cut it, print it, ship it, sell it, baby!”  Or whatever snazzy jazzy lingo it is they use out in Hollywood—
EDITOR: Uh, I hate to break it to you, but this is never going to be a movie.  Can we talk about this?  First off, you’re never going to get all these people to agree to be IN a movie together in real life, what with the bad blood and all.  Plus, you do know that’s just not how it works… The process of getting a movie made is so much more complicated than posting awkwardly written fan fiction online for your idol to stumble upon it and fawn all over your wordplay—
WRITER: Just trample on my dreams why don’t you?
EDITOR: I’m just telling it like it is!  Dude, I’m not trying to let you down… But that’s not at all how Hollywood works!  Plus, I doubt Taylor is ever going to even see this story, she’s REALLY busy these days and you tend to ramble on and on in some sections, you should definitely be a little more concise instead of meandering around making your point, but keep dreaming…   Keep telling yourself: “Oh, look, Taylor Swift is going to find some random Tumblr novel about her and sit there reading the ENTIRE thing post by post completely captivated by your every word…”  Because THAT’s realistic!  Let me let you in on a little secret though, I don’t know how I feel about Taylor, I mean, have you read some of the stuff online about her?  The gossip against her…  Maybe you’re better off not capturing her attention… She could bad news my friend.
WRITER: Why don’t you go edit something?
EDITOR: Oh, yeah, because that’s a come back.  Why don’t you go right something?
WRITER: AH-HA!  See… And you call yourself an editor… don’t you mean WRITE something!?
EDITOR: No.  I mean what I said, ‘right’ something—right a ship that’s sinking fast—right something that’s going wrong…. Like this story, that’s going nowhere fast.
PRODUCER: Ohhhhhh… Sick burn!  Sick.  Burn.
WRITER:  Just leave me alone and stop crushing my dreams.  I know it’s never going to be a movie, I know Taylor is never going to read it—you don’t think I know that?  I know that… Just let me at least dream while I write this scene and stop being so mean.
EDITOR: Look at you, Mr. Poetic.  Alright… I’m gonna go play some Xbox, call me when you’re done.  Come on producer, I’ll let you pick the game.  We’ll leave the writer to his “dreams”.
EDITOR AND PRODUCER EXIT STAGE LEFT, THEY LAUGH AS THEY SLAM THE DOOR SHUT, WRITER STARES OUT WINDOW WATCHING SNOW FALL, SAPPY MUSIC PLAYS.  ZOOM IN ON WRITER FOR SHORT MONOLOGUE.
WRITER: If only I could make the Editor understand.  I just don’t see things the way he does.  I don’t see how a girl that makes such wonderful things, could be bad.  Look at this story!  Isn’t it neat?  Wouldn’t you think it’s cool and complete?  About a girl, a girl who has… Everything.  A trove, of treasures untold!  How many wonders can her song catalogue hold… Looking at her, well you’d think, sure, she’s got everything! She’s got catchy songs a plenty!  She’s got singles and albums galore.  You want music videos?  SHE’S GOT TWENTY!  But who cares, no big deal, she wants more.  I want to be where Taylor’s people are… I want to sing and be there dancing!  Hanging out with all her, what do you call them?  Oh, Swifties.  Being a fan of hers is cool and all but I want to do more than just jumping and dancing.  I want the cameras rolling along with a catchy musical… What’s that word again?  Oh yeah, beat… Up where they talk, up where it’s fun, up where they sing all day in the sun… Swiftie and free… Wish I could be, part of that world.  What would I give, if I could make movies with Taylor… What would I pay, to spend a day part of Taylor Swift’s band … Bet you she’s grand and understands and doesn’t reprimand someone’s daughters.  Bright young women, Swiftie women, taking a stand!    And I’m ready to join with her, ready to go!  Ask her a question, and get some answers… What’s her favorite cover song and how long did it take her to, what’s the word… Learn?  When’s it my turn, to make a movie about love, a lover for sure, she is she’s a lover in love… As everyone can see…  Sigh.  Wish I could be, part of that world… Maybe they’re right.  Maybe it’s silly to dream.  But what if Taylor never dared to follow her own dreams!  If she never picked up a guitar or played a single note on the piano.  What if she never tried at all, how many Swifties would be Swiftieless!  How many lives has she positively impacted with her music, with her kind words, with her retweets and reblogs on Tumblr, with her fan photo hearts, her genuine heart… and all her creative works of art…
WRITER SIGHS.  Writer continues tay-ping into the night on the computer keyboard…
“Everyone!  We’re going to do it again.  Because, right now?  I can’t.  I just can’t… I can’t even handle it. I can’t even look at it, I can’t even think about it, I can’t even say I can’t about it…”
“Calm down Jeff.  Okay?  Just breathe.  We’re gonna get it right.”
“Carol… It’s just… Everything is mess.  We go live at eight!  EIGHT!  They’re acting like it’s still tech week!  WE GO LIVE AT EIGHT!!!  And that’s New York time, which means we go live at FIVE here in L.A.”
“It’s okay.  You’re stressing yourself too much.”  Carol King stood on the stage with the director of the American Music Awards, Jeffery, attempting to reassure him.  A stage manager also stood nearby for backup should Carol’s efforts go in vain.
“Those two crack me up.”  Selena sat in the audience seat to the left of Taylor.
“Well, it does need to be perfect, Selena.”  Taylor reminded her.
“Speak for yourselves, I’m already perfect, did you see me during Tik Tok… NAILED IT.  And my new song… Oh HELL to the yeah.”  Kesha kicked her feet up and put them on an empty seat just to the left of Selena.
“Watch it!” Selena said turning her head slightly.  “I just had my hair done!”
Kesha wiggled her barefoot toes close to Selena Gomez, just inches from the new hair-doo, egging her on, Selena made a grossed out face shifting over in her seat closer to Taylor.  Kesha sat up. “WAIT!  You guys, I just had an idea!!!  I should make a TikTok video, during Tik Tok!”  Kesha impulsively yelled her idea immediately up to the stage, “JEFFY!  Can I record a TikTok while I perform Tik Tok during my set?!”
“NO KESHA!”  He shouted back from the stage.
“Way to ruin my dreams.”  She said sulking back into her seat.  “It’s my creative expression, I should be able to do whatever I want.”  Kesha made a pouty face.  She went back to trying to pretend to touch Selena’s hair with her toes.
“Taylor, I know it needs to be perfect, but he’s stressing out so much.  KESHA!  Stop, that’s soo gross.”  She turned around and stuck her tongue out at Kesha.  Kesha laughed then let up and moved her feet away.  “Ugh…  Poor guy.  He practically runs this whole thing.” Selena sighed. “I mean yes, there’s a ton of other people behind the scenes, but it all falls on his shoulders.”
“EVERYONE!!! WE GO LIVE IN…” He looked at his watch, “FIVE hours.  It’s NOON!  The show starts at EIGHT Eastern Standard Time, which means we pull the curtain at FIVE O’CLOCK PACIFIC TIME!”
“We know Jeffery.  Just chill out man.  Jeffy you’re gonna get your pants in a Jeffy jiffy twisty.”  Ozzy yelled in his Ozzy Osbourne voice from his seat as he turned and high fived Post Malone.
“Right on.”  Post laughed, and then sipped his beer.  “Just take it as it comes and carry on.”  He toasted to the stage with his bottle of beer and then clinked glasses with Ozzy.
“Post!  It’s only noon.  How are you already drinking?”  Lizzo said looking over two seats.  “Also, did they open the bar yet or what?  This girl gotta get her drink on too.”
“Nah, B-Y-O-B, they won’t serve until after the red carpet…  You want one?”  He opened a cooler with a six-pack of beer.
“Ummm, I’ll wait.”
“Suit yourself.”  He reached in and cracked open two more handing one to Ozzy.
“Ozzy!  It’s only noon!” Sharon said slapping Ozzy on the hand.
“Sharon… Chill out…  It’s non-alcoholic.”
“Oh, well in that case, give me one.”
“Sure thing Sharon…” Post Malone smiled and cracked open another beer handing it to Sharon Osbourne.  He pulled out a bag of Trader Joe’s chips and passed the bag around for everyone to take a handful.  Life is funny like that, one day you’re eating chips on your own solo, the whole bag to yourself—maybe with some dip, or salsa, or guacamole even, and maybe not—then suddenly the next thing you know, it’s a Post Malone party, you’re sharing the bag of chips together with Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, and Lizzo.
Taylor turned back from Taylurking the conversation happening several seats away from her between Post Malone, Lizzo, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne.  Just wait until you try my Fizzy Lifting Lover drinks she thought to herself.
“At least Scooter won’t be here.”  Sara said to Taylor in a low voice, leaning over in her seat.
“I know.  But, I kind of wanted to roast him in front of everyone, watch him squirm a little.  That would have been sooooo amazing!”
“Taylor, no.  We talked about this.  You need to wait until the time is right.  We need to…” She quieted down and looked around.  “Well you know.”
“Sara, I know.  Okay?”  Taylor whispered back.
“Hey Taaaaaay…” Shawn Mendes walked by Taylor and smiled over his shoulder.
Taylor awkwardly covered her mouth, hiding a smile waiting for it to subside, when it finally did, she waved back.
“What was that?”  Sara asked noticing Taylor blushing ever so slightly.
“What was what?”
“Umm, between you and Shawn.”  Sara pointed over at Shawn now standing beside Camila Cabello.
“Nothing.  What?”
“Taylor—Is there something between the two of you?  Because if there is, as your attorney, I NEED TO KNOW!  YOU NEED TO TELL ME EVERYTHING!”  Sara raised her voice—she was almost shouting.  Billie Eilish looked up from her phone raising an eyebrow in Taylor and Sara’s direction, then turned her attention back to her phone.
“Whoa, Sara…” Taylor lowered her head sinking into her seat, “You’re making scene.”
“Sorry, I… I don’t know what came over me.”  Sara’s voice returned to her normal calm and collected tone.
“It’s okay… It’s… It’s alright.”  Taylor pushed her self slightly away from Sara in the seat; she’d never seen Sara act like that before.  Almost like Sara was a different person for just a moment.  Taylor reached down to check on the masters case and make sure it was still seated next to her, unable to make contact she looked down and noticed Sara had pulled it closer—Taylor pulled it back.
“I just need to know things, okay?”  Sara said to Taylor, making direct eye contact.  Taylor looked back up at Sara.  “To… protect you.  That’s all.  And to advise you properly…. I care about you okay?  I’m not just your lawyer, I’m a loyal Swiftie, and I’m your biggest fan.”
Taylor’s eyes drifted away from Sara and back to Shawn again.  “Riiiiight.  Okay Sara, yeah, sounds good.” She said distracted, ogling Shawn Mendes.  She felt that same dang crooked smile forming on her face.  What was that?  Why could she not help but smile every time she looked at him, SHE almost felt like a different person—She needed a distraction.  Taylor pulled out her phone and texted Joe.
Hey you…  Just wanted to say I was thinking of you!  Inset 50 heart emojis.
She clicked send.
There was a sudden commotion from one of the entranceways to the theater, “Billy Porter is in the house!”  Someone yelled.
“Oh my God Billy is here!  Sara, hold my phone.”  Taylor got up from her seat and ran over to hug him.
Sara looked at the phone in her hand; the screen was unlocked… She began to tap through a few of Taylor’s apps, her social media accounts folder named ‘My Loves’, which included the Tumblr app, Twitter, Instagram, and various other ways to connect with Taylor’s fan base, her Swifties—The pulse of the Swifties’ synchronized heartbeats in one tiny little device, she felt a wave of power rush over her, one Tumblr post, one Tweet, an Instagram photo, all of it connected to millions of Swifties, around the world, an army ready to act on Taylor’s behalf at moment’s notice.
As Taylor returned to her seat, Sara placed the phone back on her lap pretending to have never looked at it, she handed the phone back to Taylor with a reassuring smile.
“HELLO!!!  ARE WE GOING TO DO A SHOW OR NOT?  You still have to go home, freshen up, red carpet, photos, AND WE HAVE NOT EVEN STARTED THE DRESS REHERSAL… Am I the only one who cares about this?”
“Jeff, they care, okay?  It’s just that we’ve run through it 73 times.  The show is already good.”
“Good is no good, you should know that CAROL!”
Carol rolled her eyes.
“Okay everyone, everyone, let’s take it from top!  Places… PLACES!!!!”  He paused.  “Oh, Taylor, I have a note here that you had a change request to add a backing track during your performance of Lover?”
“Yes, that’s right.”  She yelled back to the stage gleefully.
“Okay, well, make sure you get that track to the sound team as soon as we finish rehearsal!”
“Oh, I will.”  Taylor’s eyes flashed Teen Wolf RED for the second time today.

Following your dreams sucks
Tumblr media
Artwork by Ben Giles
Growing up, American movies were the only ones encouraging me to follow my dreams.
‘You can do anything, just believe you can and you will!’
Naturally, this idea instilled in me shitloads of unrealistic expectations. For many years I blindly followed several dreams I had - the first was to be a painter, then a writer, a journalist, and finally a video producer & video editor.
I was trying really hard to ignore the fact that being poor, having no connections or street cred in any of these industries were factors that could potentially slow me down a lot or even terminate my dreams completely.
After a few years, I learnt the hard way that being talented, creative, hard working and passionate about anything I do is not enough. All the strategies I tried failed miserably. A few people tried to help me along the way, but it all fell apart. Some filmmakers led me on for months to invest my time and money working for them for free, giving them my creative ideas with the prospect of maybe getting a job opportunities via them. That failed as well, because turns out it’s a dog eat dog world out there, and no one truly wants to mentor or help you in any way, because nobody helped them either so why should they help anyone else? Of course, there is also the problem that if they help you and you succeed, you become a threat and they don’t want you to steal their jobs and clients.
It’s heartbreaking to experience these things, I’m not going to lie. Anyone who grew up poor dreams of overcoming poverty on their own, with hardwork and persistence, and become successful. So it sucks big time when you start from the bottom and then you discover that the bottom has so many fucking layers.
I wish someone would have told me more about the real world before I threw myself into working so many years for free because ‘that’s how you get a job in this industry’. You follow dream after dream, alone, and just when you start to be hopeful that there’s a chance you can ‘make it’, everything comes crumbling down.
But in a way, it’s ok. I failed hard, and I failed a lot. It made me stronger, better, wiser - and now I’m ready to try chasing a dream again.
Filmmaking has been in the back of my mind for many years. No matter how much I tried to break into that world, I didn’t manage to -  not in the UK, and not in Romania where I live now. Maybe it was bad timing, a bad strategy or the wrong places.
In my filmmaking journey, I had many dead ends, disappointments but also tiny rewarding experiences that kept showing me that I have what it takes, I just need to put it more work and get more experience.
From what I gathered, it’s a male dominated industry, at least locally (in Cluj-Napoca) - so this means I really need to go above and beyond to prove myself in order to be taken seriously. There aren't any internship opportunities for video production (that I know of), there are only a few established freelance filmmakers around and tight knit video production companies that you can’t get into without strong connections, street cred and most importantly, lots of experience.
For me, it’s a very lonely professional existence. I’m not part of this tight knit underground filmmaking community, I have no way to get in, and no way to network. I don’t personally know other female filmmakers either (I only know of them). That would definitely inspire me to believe that my dream is achievable and realistic.
My only option right now is to start doing as much video production work as possible, show people what I can do and hopefully, that would get me closer to where I want to be.
So far following my dreams sucks big time.
‘Dreams don’t work unless you do’
There’s one thing that helps me keep going: I know my passion for video is real. I know my creativity is real. Whenever I think about making videos, my heart jumps with joy. When I film something and edit it, I don’t care how tired I am, I can sit there and work for hours because I love it so much. Seeing filmmakers and cameramen on the street carrying their gear to a shooting location brings me joy, and I always stare at their equipment and marvel at how awesome it is (of course I wish I would have it, too). When I walk on a film set, I feel like I’m walking through paradise and I imagine all the amazing productions you could do in there.
‘The time is now’
Time flies quickly, and the more we wait, the further we get from following our dreams. There is never a right time, and we’ll never have everything you need. The time to follow your dream is now.

Galactica, the remix, part 1
Sometimes you use your saturday being productive, and other days you redo the start of your 200+ chapters fan fiction. When I started writing Galactica in january 2016 I had close to no idea of where the story was going, so Galactica, the remix, is my self-indulgent little idea of how I would have paced and written the story if I could redo it all.
Thank you in advance if you’re going to read my second attempt at the Devil Wears Prada and RuPauls Drag Race Cross over <3
“Violet! I need you to go the fabric district and get another 12 yards of that black velvet with the little beads.”
“Max has run out of lightbulbs, find some immediately and bring them here.”
“Yes? Violet, hello. I want eggs for breakfast, no yoke, half an avocado, grape juice. That’s all.”
“Could you please pick up the dry cleaning from last weeks shoot, and bring it to the studio for reshoots before you go to lunch.”
“Where is Raja? Why isn’t Raja here? Violet, fix this immediately!”
“Call Patrick and confirm the time of my flight, then call the hotel, the driver and the restaurant as well. I don’t want anything to go wrong on our vacation.”
Violet pushed the door open to the Galactica office, her arms heavy with the dry cleaning she had picked up from the fifth floor, her feet aching. Violet dumped down at her desk and booted up her computer, a total of 52 new emails greeting her, which she quickly skimmed though as she kicked off her shoes. She didn’t know exactly how this had become her life, but as a newly graduated student from Parsons School of Design, she was beyond thankful for her job as a personal assistant, even if it meant bending over backwards to satisfy the needs of Miss “The Brand” Fame, the owner and cofounder of New York’s hottest fashion brand, Galactica.
“Violet!”
Violet froze as Fame called her from inside her office, quickly checking her email and calendar to see if she had missed something, but no.
Why was Fame calling her now?
“Violet!”
“I’m coming Miss!”
Violet quickly put on her shoes, checking her makeup in her computer screen before she grabbed her notebook; needing to remember everything that would be said to her, making her way into Fame’s office.
If there was one thing to say about her job, it was that no day at Galactica was ever the same.
***
“Pearl, I got you the glosses you wanted from the makeup department. Can I come in?”
“Sure!”
“Thanks, I-?” Violet looked up as she walked into her best friends office, or, if Violet was honest, her only friend’s office, even though she in her heart of hearts wished for something more.
“Hi Vi!”
Pearl was gorgeous, long blonde hair falling over her delicate shoulders, her eyes always making Violet’s knees feel weak, but Violet’s favorite thing was Pearl’s smile, the little grin on the others lip always making Violet feel like Pearl knew something more, like she was better than Violet, and Violet wanted nothing more than to catch up to Pearl, to be her equal, and someone Pearl would respect.
“Don’t call me that.” Violet put down the box of makeup Pearl had instructed her to collect, Laganja, Pearl’s second in command and assistant, off doing whatever the weird thing she could think of, no doubt with the head of the marketing department Alyssa Edwards, the two thick as thieves and equally insane and southern.
“What are you watching?”
Pearl was sitting at her desk, her feet up her laptop on her legs, and as Violet walked closer she could smell the sweet scent of coconut from Pearl’s hair.
“It’s Givenchy’s ready-to-wear fall catwalk from last season’s New York Fashion Week, I’m doing a piece for our website about the transformation of European fashion to America. Do you know Givenchy?”
“Of course, I’m not an idiot.”
Violet and Pearl had met at a club a few years ago, Violet sneaking in as she had not yet turned 20, her classmates insisting that they simply had to go out since they had all passed their exams. Violet had seen Pearl from across the room, the blonde dancing as if it was the last night of her life, her bright smile, her energy, the pure abandonment with which she moved drawing Violet in, pulling her to Pearl with a gravity she had never felt before. There was a reason Pearl was the uncrowned queen of New York’s nightlife, a night with Liaison never boring, but Violet hadn’t known it at the time, which was the only reason she had had the courage to approach Pearl, the decision changing her life forever.
“I tried to give the article to one of the interns, I figured it was a win win, they feel like they’re getting the chance of a lifetime, and I won’t have to watch a boring show.”
Violet smiled, the fact that Pearl was in her office and not out amongst the people of her department telling Violet that Pearl was most likely hungover, the woman somehow punk enough to pulling it off. “Thank god for interns, huh?” Violet knew she herself was little else but a glorified intern, but she was still thankful for the threads Pearl had pulled when Fame’s last assistant had quit in a fit of tears.
“Mmh, sometimes Fortuna does smiles upon you.”
At Pearl’s reference to the Roman goddess of luck, Violet barked out a laugh. “Oh my God, you pretentious whore.”
Violet knew she should get back to her desk, but for once she had Pearl’s entire attention on her.
“It’s not pretentious if I know what I’m talking about bitch!” Pearl laughed as well, grabbing her computer to make sure it wouldn’t fall. “There’s a difference between being intelligent and pretentious. Pretentious would be me taking out my septum piercing since everyone seems to have one.” Pearl pointed on the screen, and Violet could just barely see the audience as slender model after slender model walked down the runway.
“See, there, on the new manager for the buyer’s department of Asos, and there we have one again, it’s on the assistant but still, I win- Hey, look, there’s Bianca.” Pearl paused the video, and Violet recognised her immediately. Bianca Del Rio, editor in chief of Marie Claire magazine and one of Fame’s close friends. “Look at that face, geeze.. Anyone who calls Fame an Ice Queen has never met Bianca Del Rio, that’s for sure.”
“Or Raja.”
“Or Raja.” Pearl smiled, “Hey do you-”
Violet’s phone rang, and she cursed at herself as she stood up, answering Fame’s call on the second ring.
***
“I agree, but don’t you think-”
“Too much like two years ago? I do.”
Sitting in a car with both Raja and Fame was always an experience. Manhattan moved by at a snail pace, the afternoon trafic always bad, but Fame had insisted that both her and Raja needed to be present for the location shoot of the newest batch of clothes from independent designers for Galactica’s website. Both Raja and Fame were talking, the two going over the design concents they had been sent by Max and Trixie, Fame’s favorite photographer and the head of the design department. Watching Fame and Raja work was magical, even though Violet could just as well have been invisible, the two barely acknowledging her existence, and Violet did what she did best, which was not draw attention to herself.
“I’m not sure I love the water concept.”
“What are you talking about Raja, it’s brilliant.”
“If you say so.”
Raja Gemini was Fame’s second in command in almost everything, the one besides Violet who spent the most time in Fame’s presence and one of the only employees Fame confided in. As a former model, Raja had an eye for fashion like few others, and as the creatie director for Galactica, Raja had her hand in almost every single project Galactica did, even though it was always Fame who had the last word. Fame and her husband Patrick, the owner of the buildings that housed Galactica, and the Fashion House financial backer from the very start.
“No, Fame, I’m telling you, no.”
“Fine.”
Ice Queens. Violet remembered Pearl’s words, but she wasn’t sure if she agreed. Violet liked Raja well enough, not that she really needed to like her bosses. Raja was competent, fair, often demanding, but also someone who always got her business done. Even after more than a year at the company, Violet knew very little about Raja, except for the fact that she was Indonesian, that she was a former model, had a twin brother, and that she and Raven Petruschin had been dating for close to years. Raven was one of their most used models, both for runway and photoshoots, and even though she was dating Raja, her results never suffered, but no one in the fashion world expected anything less from a girl that was signed with Elite Model Management.
“Violet.. Violet, how many times do I have to scream your name.” Violet looked up, not even realising that she had been stuck in her own head. Miss Fame was looking directly at her, a cold look on her face as if she had truly been screaming, but Violet knew better. Fame held her hand out, an air of indifference about her. “I need a pen.”
“Yes Miss.” Violet reached into her Prada bag, quickly rifling through, knowing she had seconds to get Fame what she had requested. Violet handed Fame the pen, too flushed  to look directly at her. “Sorry Miss.”
“That’s all.”
Violet looked down, not catching the slight smile on Miss Fame’s lips before she went back to work.

Imagining Neric doing couple things is fun. Them playing video games in angry silence when they argue, baking birthday cakes for each other, looking at houses to move in together and playing pranks on each other but still messing up because it's Neric and they embarrass themselves a lot. You said you had a wishlist of things you want to see them do, what are some of those things?
I actually have this headcanon that the only one on the team who cooks really, really well is Sam. Deeks has more game than the rest, but like… the others are TERRIBLE. So the image of them trying to bake each other cakes ends in fire in my head. So, yes, yes i definitely want to see that.
but anyway, my wishlist is not like, big goals, i know better than to set myself up for a fall (also, as it turns out, not getting your hopes up and expecting nothing at all makes it sweeter when ur expecting a fake relationship episode where your ship awkwardly make out to prove a point, and instead get them making out of their own accord on a patch of grass so like A+ 10/10 would recommend), i just want random stuff???;
The aforementioned drunk neric, or one of them drunk and the other not, i’m not picky, they were hilarious high on sugar, give me the drunken nerds.
casual cold episode opening where you see a phone on a table and it rings, and a sleepy hand reaches out to grab it at a horrible and early hour of the morning and the camera pans outward and it’s nell’s hand grabbing the phone and it pans further out and you see Eric still passed out next to her in bed (i’m not only thinking of scenes i want in my head, i’m now saying how i want them directed, too, so like, i think i have a problem).
i’m just gonna shove a serious™ one in here b/c i genuinely think they dropped the ball last season with this, but Eric talking to Nell about his reaction to killing the guy at the retreat, because when i saw it i found it 100% plausible that he wouldn’t have spoken to her specifically, b/c i think he’d be worried she might take his anxieties over it to mean he didn’t want what happened after that to have happened either, which is not true, but i do think Eric would worry about it and i’d like to hear her both A) validate negative emotions about the killing and B) say she understands it was an emotional rollercoaster and she understands he can feel negatively about the shooting and positively about the kissing at the same time.
ERIC BEALE KNOWING WHERE AND WHAT HER TATTOO IS
You know what scene where Callen and Anna got handsy in front of a fire??? I want that. I literally don’t care if they get interrupted, the gif footage i could get from 10 seconds of a topless make out would increase my lifespan by like 10 years.
Them sitting closer now. And you may say ‘But Danni, don’t they already sit close to each other and have little regard for personal space???’ and you would be correct and in fact, the point. They should still sit closer b/c that’d mean they’d be on top of each other :D.
Nell stealing Eric’s state of the art gaming set up to play the sims and the resulting fall out (this isn’t as much as a wish as it is a crack fic prompt but w/e. Preferred outcome from this is Nell convincing him to let her carry on b/c she creates a pair of sims in love named Eric and Nell. He knows he’s being manipulated but he just can’t help himself and stops complaining).
Them letting Barrett keep the inevitable hiatus beard and having her find it really hot.
A KISS (more than one but, you know, low standards). A nice one, like, a meaningful one that’s slow and romantic but you could easily imagine it leading to tender sex when the scene ends).
Nell’s family come to town. They end up having to pretend they’ve been together years because of the whole ‘eric came to christmas’ thing. Her parents also want to meet the friends she’s spoken to them about, so she has to tell G, Sam, Deeks and Kensi that they all have to pretend to be news editors or similar, but also have to pretend her and eric have been in a relationship for years. Chaos ensues. (Nell also would probably end up almost murdering Deeks in this scenario tbh lbr he’d say /something/ and she’d be out for blood).
G teasing them. Nell teasing him back. Eric trying to tease back and failing.
The return of the tactical kilt™ and Nell being better versed in Eric’s underwear (or lack thereof) choices.
slow dancing. Or square dancing. Preferably the slow but i take what i can get.
more vague sexual allusions that make me go efgdfgjsrfjsdfsdfk
the return of la perla
since it’s canon we know densi do robot roleplay in bed i think it’s only fair if we find out something of Neric’s too. It’d be super nerdy. Like, they dress up as han and leia and have sex kind of nerdy.
i could go on for a while

SUMMARY This film is set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland where few fertile men and women exist due to atomic fallout. As a result, the government places a high priority on those that can still breed. Shortly before the movie opens, a group of mutant amphibians (who have been exiled to the desert by humans) capture a group of fertile women and are using them as sex slaves.
Sam Hell (Piper) is a nomadic traveler who wanders the countryside. He is eventually captured by an organization of warrior-nurses, the closest thing to a government in his region of the world, who reveal that they located him by tracking the trail of pregnant women left in his wake. Their original plan was to use him as breeding stock with their collection of fertile women, but this was the group captured by the mutants. With their own attempts to capture the women failing, the group presses Hell into service as a mercenary; he is to infiltrate the mutant city (derogatorily referred to as “Frogtown”) and rescue the women. To make sure that the rebellious Hell follows his orders, he is forced to wear an electronic protective codpiece that will explode if he disobeys or tries to abort his mission. Having already taken numerous samples of reproductive material from him, he is now deemed far more expendable than the women themselves. To aid him in his mission (and make sure he follows the plan), he is paired with one of the nurses, Spangle (Bergman), and an aggressive guard named Centinella (Verrell).
During their journey to Frogtown, Hell tries numerous times to escape but quickly learns that a device Spangle carries will shock his genitals if used or if he gets too far away from it. Despite their rocky start and Spangle’s initial cold demeanor, the pair grow closer during the journey and eventually fall in love. When they reach Frogtown, everyone involved is captured. The frogs’ second-in-command, Bull (Nicholas Worth), tortures Hell and attempts to remove the codpiece for its technology. Meanwhile, a slightly drugged Spangle is forced to work as a slave and dance for the frogs’ Commander Toty (Brian Frank) in the notable “Dance of the Three Snakes” sequence. Proving more successful than she had wished, the nurse soon finds herself at the mercy of the aroused commander. However, with the codpiece now removed (Bull finally removed it with a chainsaw, but it blew up and killed him), the escaped Hell rescues her along with the group of fertile women (Ellen Crocker, Kim Hewson, Ilana Ishaki, Annie McKinon and Janie Thorson) held captive.
DEVELOPMENT/PRODUCTION Donald G. Jackson had directed a $70,000 16mm direct-to-video feature for New World’s video division: ROLLERBLADE, a tale of “futuristic rebel nuns on skates with knives, “according to Jackson. On the strength of that project’s overseas sales, New World asked him to pitch ideas for another low-budget, direct-to-video feature. Jackson pitched HELL COMES TO FROGTOWN, a tongue in-cheek post-apocalypse action-adventure story, which he described as “ROAD WARRIOR meets PLANET OF THE APES, except they’re frogs.”

New World loved the script by Randall Frakes, who was supposed to co-produce the film with Jackson, and agreed to finance the project, which was to be shot 16mm, non-union, for $150,000. It was then that the project began to balloon. New World wanted a name in the cast and suggested Sybil Danning for a role intended for Suzanne Solari, who had appeared in ROLLERBLADE. As a bone, Solari was given the small part of a nomad girl in the film. Jackson did not think Danning was right for the part, so New World offered it to Sandahl Bergman, who was finishing up a two-picture contract with them. Unfortunately, the casting of Bergman meant that the whole film had to be cast SAG, which immediately raised the budget to $500,000. New World’s video division could not afford that price tag, so the film was moved over to the feature division where executives questioned whether the script’s extensive action and stunt requirements could be achieved for half a million dollars. They rebudgeted the film somewhere between $750,000 to $1,000,000.

“Then I got the phone call,” said Jackson. “They basically said, ‘We’re not going to trust you with a million dollars, but here’s what we’d like to do, because we like the project: we’ll give you a million, but we want you and R. J. Kizer to co-direct.” Kizer was the editor New World brought in to direct scenes of Raymond Burr for GODZILLA: 1985. Jackson was not pleased to lose control, but ultimately he decided it was a better career move to go for a bigger-budget theatrical release than another low budget video. New World brought on line producer Bill Edwards, who did not think the script could be shot for $1,000,000. He and executive in charge of production Neal Nordlinger raised the budget to $1.5 million. While at Alan Lansburg Productions, Nordinger had co-produced JAWS 3-D.

Said Jackson, “We had five accountants, two directors, three producers, one executive in charge of production and two executives in charge of the executive in charge of production-so everybody had his finger in the pie, getting their friends jobs instead of spending money on the film. They wouldn’t hire the lighting guy I wanted, so I had to pay additional money out of my pocket to get the right guy.”
The first and only time I ever saw the movie with an audience—prior to a couple of months ago—was on the old MGM lot in Culver City. The Cary Grant screening room. The audience was made up of the crew and some of the cast, and the movie dropped like a 10-ton stone into mud. I hated the movie. Hated it. Looking at it was like staring at a wrecked career. My friend William Wisher—who I mentioned earlier, and who was amazed my dopey script even got made—came up to me afterward and said, “I’m sorry they screwed up your movie, Randy.” That was the nail in the coffin. But I must also say that a few months ago, when the Cinefamily Theater here in L.A. did a one-night Rowdy Roddy Piper memorial screening of They Live and Hell Comes to Frogtown, the audience seemed to get all the jokes as intended. They were extremely appreciative and enthusiastic in their response. So, despite all the ruinous stuff that happened to compromise Frogtown, it evidently still hits the mark well enough for some people who like weird and funny stuff to enjoy. For that, I am grateful. And producing that movie was a huge learning experience, an on-the-job training that has helped me navigate this silly business and the people who presume to run it. – Randall Frakes (Producer/Writer)
The film went into production with former wrestler Rowdy Roddy Piper in the lead role of Sam Hellmond and frog masks by 21 year-old Steve Wang. Unfortunately, despite the rising budget, Wang’s budget was never increased, limiting what he could accomplish, so most of the mutant frog people are rather inexpressive. However, the radio-controlled mask for Commander Toty, the chief villain, features an impressive range of expressions, including bulging eyes, flaring nostrils, and flickering eyelids.

The production soon ran into trouble. Despite early agreements on a cinematic style inspired by samurai films and Italian westerns, Kizer and Jackson were just too different in their approach. “I knew it wouldn’t work I’m sure he didn’t like being in that position any more than I,” said Jackson. “R. J. in my opinion never liked the project. He wanted the money and the directing credit.”
Another major source of friction arose regarding the film’s photographic look. Jackson, who according to his usual practice was photographing as well as directing the film, clashed with the movie’s art director. “The executive in charge of production had a friend of a friend who had never been an art director – he was an architectural draftsman. I never liked the way he dressed the sets, and I kept changing them around to make them look good for the camera which really upset him and the executive in charge. All my sets looked better after being redressed. He was building them like for a stage play, not for a movie. He didn’t age it-everything was too new. I kept taking cans of flat black paint and aging everything down.
“After doing this for ten days, the final blow-up was in the bar scene. They had blow-up sex dolls, I found that really offensive. They had naked mannequins, I found that offensive. They had this big poster of Reagan as Max Headroom, which the guy had swiped from a Doonesbury cartoon. So I wanted that all torn down. I got in a violent argument with the art director, who said he was gonna quit. I wish he had. He didn’t.
“The next day, when I came to work, they said, “There’s a new cinematographer, and he’s not gonna fuck with the art director.’ And I was told to watch they didn’t want me to talk to R. J. on the set, only in the trailer, so he was happy.

“So I watched. I got tired of watching after six hours, so I grabbed a camera, went outside, and put together my own 2nd unit crew and started shooting a lot of insert shots. We shot two cameras on the pyrotechnics and fights and shot a lot of closeups of fingers pulling triggers and so on.”
By this time, Jackson’s co-producer Randall Frakes had already been fired for insisting the film be shot as written. Said Jackson, “The script was cut so drastically by Neal Nordinger and R. J. Kizer it no longer resembled the action script we wrote. New World said we couldn’t afford it, but I’d just shot a whole movie for hardly any money so I know it can be done.
“When I was shooting I was going as fast as anybody could go and everybody was complaining it wasn’t fast enough. As soon as they put on another d.p., the pace slowed down to one-half. The original schedule was twenty days. They shot twenty-two days principal, plus five more days of pickups because they didn’t cover the action properly-it wouldn’t cut together.”
The final product pleased neither Jackson nor New World, who, ironically enough, now plan to release it directly to video rather than theatrically.
Donald G. Jackson Interview Tell us about the genesis of Hell Comes to Frogtown ? Where did you find the inspiration for frog mutants ? What kind of deal New World proposed to you ? And how do you feel about that afterward ? Donald G. Jackson: There is a section of Los Angeles known as Frogtown. The story goes, that back in the 1940s this area was overwhelmed by a large invasion of Frogs — which is why it got its name. I had a friend Sam Mann, who was one of the actors in Roller Blade and lived in this area. We were driving along one day and he came up with the title, Hell Comes to Frogtown. From there, I ran with the idea and that is how the movie developed.
New World had made so much money on Roller Blade they offered to finance Hell Comes to Frogtown. My original plan was to shoot the movie with Sam Mann and Suzanne Solari (both from Roller Blade) as the leads. I was going to shoot it on 16 mm, with my Bolex — as I had done with Roller Blade. But then, New World decided they wanted to “Up” the budget. The problem is, the minute you let the devil in the door, the devil is going to take control over you. And, that is what happened with New World and Hell Comes to Frogtown. They decided that they wanted to cast name talent and take over the production of the film. So, the movie evolved from being a 16 mm art film, to a relatively high budget 35 mm cult movie. Sadly, my friend Sam didn’t get to play Sam Hell and Suzanne was only given a small part in the film.
Were Roddy Piper and Sandahl Bergman your firsts choices for the roles of Spangle and Sam Hell ? What were they like on the set ? Donald G. Jackson: No, as stated, my original plan was to shoot the movie with Sam Mann and Suzanne Solari as the leads. But, New World wanted to use Roddy Piper as he was a very famous wrestler at the time — and this was going to be his first movie.
As a fan of wrestling, I was happy to have him. But, as you can understand, what occurred was not fair to my friend Sam. I think I may have made the wrong choice by not standing by my friend Sam, who actually came up with the title and the idea for the movie. But, I spoke with him and he seemed Okay with what was happening. Though Hell Comes to Frogtown is, no doubt, my most famous feature, by my accepting New World’s offer, I believe it did set a lot of bad karma in motion.
Regarding Sandahl Bergman: She had just finished Conan: The Barbarian, and they wanted to use her for her name power, as well. I had very little to do with any of the casting of the film. Again, this is the problem when a large production company becomes involved in a project — the actual filmmaker is allowed very little creative control. Which is why I have never again worked with a large production company. But, Piper and Bergan were both very nice people to work with.
Anything to say on Cec Verrell (Centinella)? Donald G. Jackson: No, just somebody cast by New World. Also, very nice
The “Dance of the Three snakes” scene didn’t really stand its promises ? Did Sandahl Bergman have something to do with that ? Donald G. Jackson: In the script, Bergman’s character was to be naked in this scene. On the set, she would have nothing to do with nudity, however. So, it was one of those power struggle things happening between the actor and the director. Due to New World’s influence and decision, the actor won.
William Smith is one of my favorite actors. How did you get in touch with him ? He would have made a perfect Sam Hell too, don’t you think ? Are you still in touch with him ? Donald G. Jackson: Yes, Bill is a great actor and a great friend. He has been around the film industry forever. And, I have known him for a lot of years. I put him in my films whenever I can.
Nicolas Worth is also brilliant, even under his heavy make-up. A very talented actor. Did you notice him from his creepy performance in Don’t Answer the Phone (1980) ? Donald G. Jackson: No, he was cast by New World.
The makeup of the Frogmen are excellent, could you tell us about that ? Donald G. Jackson: Steve Wang who went on to direct films like Kung Fu Rascals, The Guyver, and Drive was the main force behind the frog masks and make-up. He is a great guy and has gone on to do a lot of special effects work for a number of very big feature films.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
There’s always comedy coupled with eroticism and sexual content in your movies that remind me of the films of Russ Meyer. Do his films form part of your influence ? Donald G. Jackson: Some of Russ’s stuff is great. Particularly when you think that he made them without the help of any of the big studios. But, he has never been an influence to me. It was more the avant-garde films from the 1960s like Dr. Chicago and Chinese Fire Drill that really inspired me as a filmmaker.
I think you’re also a car lover and “Hell Comes to Frogtown” showcases two amazing cars, were they part of your own collection ? Donald G. Jackson: Yes, I am a big fan of classic cars. I love the cars made in Detroit from the 1950s and early 1960s. One of the cars in Frogtown is a 1962 Plymouth Belvedere. I found and purchased two at the same time. One, we customized for the film and the other one I customized to my own specification and have driven ever since.
R.J. Kizer, the guy guilty to have shot the useless and ugly new scenes of the American version of The Return of Godzilla is often credited as the co-director of Hell Comes to Frogtown. Why ? Was it imposed to you by New World ? Why ? What was your relations with him on the set ? Of which part is it exactly responsible in the final cut of the movie ? Donald G. Jackson: Like a lot of people in the film industry, I sometimes say things, trying to soften the reality of what actually occurred in a particular situation and trying to make it more understandable for those who have never made a film. But, now is the time for me to spell out the truth.
Hell Comes to Frogtown was my baby. Though I have been the one to get the most press from the film, regarding Kizer, again, New World took over the project and said that was part of the deal — Kizer was going to be the co-director of the movie. Even though I was the creator, my complete creative control was taken away. New World became angry at my desire to maintain control over the project and I was eventually removed as the director and banned from the sets. There was never any collaboration.
Regarding the final cut of the film, New World handled it. Though I watched some of the editing — they didn’t like my flaring temper, when I didn’t like something I didn’t like. Again, this is why I have never worked with another big production company. Because it just takes all of the creativity away from the filmmaker.

HOW I'VE MANAGED TO STAY SANE DURING QUARANTINE
During the course of this unfortunate stay in your house time, I have seen many of blog posts and social media posts of people going stir crazy, and it got me thinking—why haven’t I gone stir crazy, yet? So, I spent the last few weeks analyzing my day and I’ve come up with five reasons why I believe I have not gone crazy, yet. (Side note, I hate introductory paragraphs) I hope you all find this post helpful.
P.S. this post is not me giving you all tips for you all to try, i am essentially just passing off my list—a list I have found helpful during this time.
WRITING, during this time of being in the house , I finished a book I’ve been writing for an entire year. The book I’m self-publishing in early 2021, is a big broad. It’s over 60 chapters, phew! But, I was able to hone in and finish this passion project. Before Quarantine, I just could never find the time to sit down and write. No moment was the right time for me.
Finishing this passion project has revitalized my love of writing. I found and hired my editor, as well as a cover designer. This work from home, has allowed me to really focus on things that will make me better. And, yes, I will be posting an update about my book in July—there will be a cover reveal, videos about the book, and so much more.
THINKING, This may sound stupid, but in this time I have had so much time to just think. It wasn’t hard to think before quarantine, it was just hard to reflect. Something was always pulling my attention. Now, I am to just manifest my day in mornings. I wake up, and I speak into existence how I want the outcome of my day to be. I am also very thankful.
I believe that before this quarantine, I was a little bit ungrateful, I never really respected that my life and day really could go the other way, I expected too much. That was my issue.
FAMILY, I am honestly blessed to have the kind of family that I have. Yes, we’re like most families. I get tired of their faces, but the love outweighs that any day of the week. I am happy that we get to build our Elevation Lifestyle brand as a family. Typically, with family businesses, they don’t always go as planned. But, so far, I have enjoyed this journey.
Being stuck in a house during this quarantine, has only strengthened our relationships. Before, the pandemic, we were all on different schedules, and barely had time to chat and catch up—we know way more about each other and that’s all I hoped and wished for.
TELEVISION, I’m a millennial. Without all of my subscriptions, I could have quite possibly lost my mind. I love the thought of delving into a Bravo television show. Getting lost in those peoples lives, than deal with my current situation. Television has always been my saving grace.
I know watching too much television isn’t a good thing, but I am a pop culture junky, and our podcast revolves around what’s currently happening in the world. Yes, that is my justification for binge watching a 40 episode Netflix shows in two days—Money Heist was good, sorry…not sorry.
ELEVATION LIFESTYLE, Building the brand is a full time job. I speak for all of us when I say, that we’ve been hard at work on so many new things that I don’t think we’ve even had the time to really think about not being able to travel the world or see certain places.
During this time of quarantine, Elevation Lifestyle has been seeing tremendous growth. We finally show up in the Google Search engine. The podcasts is exploding—I mean, when you look us up in Apple Podcasts, they recommend us to E! and other pop culture themed podcasts.
We are dealing with this mega growth—virtually out of nowhere. We’re having so much fun building this brand that when the outside world opens back up, we are going to have something to show for it.
All in all, I personally think you have to look at your life and cherish all of the things that currently make you happy and let the drive you through this. It could be easy to just sit and be in darkness. This virus has personally destroyed my life and I have to constantly remind myself of all the other good things about my life: I am happy, I am loved, and I am able to live my life how I intended it to be. Those three things keep me going.
I know my grandmother is so proud of how we just got up and continued living—I can see her smiling at how we grew closer, she’s so proud of my mother, and how she just became a champion to everyone. I’m still saying fuck, Rona, but out of all the bad it’s made us strong, boss ass, humans.
In closing, enjoy the happier moments in your life. That’s it.

The human eyes are able to typically see a more comprehensive series of tone than your electronic camera most likely make.
Photo editing software for Computer
Among the most well-known misconstrued components of digital photography is what occurs after you made the photo in fact modifying your picture. The cropping tool allows you to change the dimension of your photo, and additionally to alter the element ratio. You can cut out a picture from a rectangular shape to a square form. There are several reasons you would certainly intend to cut out, including for posting in various styles and also element relations. Contrasted to the original, I have actually cropped the picture with photo editing software to get rid of the colored component of the left-hand side of the picture and recomposed using the guideline of one-third. It makes the lightning screw more the focus of photograph. You may question why I did not just compose appropriately when making the shot. So in this case, I was arranging a lengthy exposure photo shot with no a camera stand, so had actually the camera balanced on the edge of the jetty for security. That quite limited my capacity to perfectly frame the minute, so I simply shot larger, understanding I had to be able to crop the photo shot suitably shortly after the fact. In both cases, chopping is really simple as well as it is just involves you picking the cut out item and after that picking the location you intend to maintain with your computer mouse. In some cases there certainly can be a single thing within a picture that you definitely do not desire to be there, like an annoying dark spot on someone else's forehead. That is easy to get rid of in all of the main photo editing software.
It is generally uncomplicated to clear away any type of items taken away a photography yet the photo editing software does work great on distinct, small things that are probably closed in by the same colorings. This is due to the fact that the heal tool has to change the location you wish to erase with another thing, as well as this functions ideal when it has an area nearby that looks similar. For instance, a dark spot on a face is bordered by a lot of likewise tinted skin, so the heal device can easily compute what to replace the dark spot based on the surrounding location. This specific is actually just because the photo editing software needs to repair the location you want to erase together with another thing, and this works optimal when it has a sector close that looks identical.

Sometimes if we take a shot, sections of the picture could end up being gloomier than we really want. We describe the brighter spots of the picture as shadows, and also the brilliant parts of the picture as high light.
Contrast has to do with highlighting the contrast between the light and also dark sections of the photo. Increasing the contrast of a picture can dramatically improve the visual impact that had, by creating the limits between these light as well as dark sections more clear.
Shade modification is another vital item of the photo editing software. We are able to change photograph color scheme in every sort of ways, from changing the general heat of the image like just how blue or yellow it looks, to individually transforming the color and interpenetration photo editing software of particular color schemes contents of a photo. We just would like to talk about some extremely helpful color scheme modifications you are able to make use of to help to make your photos nothing but a bit a lot more aesthetically impressive. The easiest method in order to regulate the coloring related to a photo is using the hue technique of the photo editing software. Color pictures can easily be actually truly helpful, as well as obviously white colored as well as black is an amazing option for every type of scenarios, specifically, architecture, and various surroundings pictures.
One of my own personal petty annoyances in photography is if the perspective band in a picture is certainly not degree. Occasionally if we are actually taken up in the moment, this basic policy is failed to remember however the bright side is that editing and enhancing your pictures with the photo editing software to make them level is additionally extremely easy.
Balancing the electronic camera at the side of the pier suggested that the picture was not level this is notably easy to see to the eye anytime the image has a clearly specified horizon line, like the ocean.
The focusing method becomes part of the output method, and also you may just rotate the image to suit. Whenever you utilize the focusing device, a grid will certainly appear to help you obtain the placement correct. Leveling an image is a really straightforward task that will certainly take just a number of ticking, leading to a much extra visually hitting the spot photo.

That makes the lightning screw extra the emphasis of photo shot. When making the image, you may wonder why I did not simply compose appropriately. So in this case, I was working on a very long presence photo shooting with no a camera stand, so had the electronic camera stabilized on the side of the sidewalk for stability. That very much restricted my ability to completely frame the moment, so I simply shot bigger, recognizing I had the ability to chop the photo shot appropriately shortly after the truth. There certainly are definitely loads of photo editing software as well as plenty of methods of getting the very same or similar results. My intent very most when it comes to many pictures I post process is generally to produce them look as normal as actually possible. When the horizon line in an image is not level, a particular of my own scratch nuisances in digital photography is. Often if we are caught up in the second, this fundamental rule is forgotten but fortunately is that enhancing your photos with the photo editing software to make them grade is also very easily done. Stabilizing the camera at the side of the boat dock implied that the picture was not level this is especially obvious to the vision whenever the picture has actually a clearly identified horizon line, just like the ocean. A degree technique belongs to the crop technique, and you may just turn the picture to suit. The moment you take the focusing method, a grate will definitely show up to help you get the placement appropriate. That is very simple to get rid of in every the leading photo editing software. It is tempting to center in on anything certain you're trying to get when a person shooting a picture from a particular radius. However it's in fact far better not to zoom in, because your picture will be fuzzy and grainy. Compare has to do with highlighting the contrast between the light fixture and dark sections of the photo. As with several styles, the solution is to get a great evenness excessive coloring the pictures have a tendency to look rather not naturally made. Color photography can easily be truly helpful, as well as naturally black and white color is a great option for almost all kind of scenarios, specifically, architecture, and also particular landscape scenes.
