Hey, can you re-imagine a wholy genderbent Deathnote, is too cursed?

Okay, it is SO funny that you mention this because I was talking to my Long-Distance Best Friend the other day about the fact that there is, apparently, (or at least was, at some point before the strike?) a plan to make a live-action TV series adaptation of this for Netflix. Which is...a whole other thing I don't want to get into, but ANYWAY.

The POINT is that we were talking about what would have to happen to make me have some modicum of hope that this might not be the worst idea ever (remember what happened the LAST time we did live-action Netflix DN, we got the 2017 movie no one needs to live through that again). And what I ultimately came up with was:

Every single character, except for Light and Raye, is now a woman. (Obviously this isn't wholly genderbent, but. It's close enough to this ask that I found it to still be a humorous coincidence.) I think in the hands of the right writer, it could be an interesting examination of misogyny and how baked-in that concept is to the justice system. (And I think it would lend extra context to the fact that Light was able to keep operating for so long. If the people opposing him are all women in a historically male-dominated field, they'd all have to contend with a type of professional and societal discrimination that he'll never have to, thus giving him an advantage. Also L would be a Weird Girl™, which would absolutely raise some interesting questions in terms of the scope of this character's influence and their societal perception. Also femslash Near/Mello would be canonically possible which is OBVIOUSLY the most important factor to take into consideration.)

Soichiro's difficulty in believing Light's guilt would gain an extra dimension if this character were also grappling with the societal expectations of motherhood (especially while being in a position of authority in a """masculine""" career). And Matsuda...I just think some woman, any woman, should get to shoot Light repeatedly in a fit of rage. (Also something-something calling women in the workplace idiots/making them the butt of the joke/consistently overlooking them, I think you could do something there.) I think this theoretical concept I spent way too much time thinking about really only works if, even though the major and supporting characters are women, it's still made clear that they work in an environment overwhelmingly occupied by men.

As for a FULLY genderbent story...Light as a female character is, to me, indeed an idea too cursed. I will not elaborate.

And I don't think the Shinigami experience the concept of gender in the way that we do, so tbh I'm not really sure a whole lot would change in that regard. But I do think a female Ryuk would be very funny.

Naomi being a man I think would be...not cursed, I just don't particularly enjoy it. But mainly that's because I am A Gay™, and I love thinking about women who are tough enough to have the word "massacre" as part of their nickname. :)

Misa being reimagined as a guy could be really interesting, though, given how a) the entertainment industry treats women differently from how it treats men, and b) the world at large generally expects men to react differently to trauma than women do. (Although I still very much prefer the version of Misa that serves as a deconstruction of the Manic Pixie Dream Girl). And I'd be curious to see what the viewer/reader response would be if this character were a man. (Mainly because, historically, audiences are a lot more positively receptive to extreme, unhealthy displays of devotion when they come from a male character than when they come from a female character, but this answer is already probably too long, so we don't have to talk about that.)

(Best Friend ALSO mentioned the idea of Rina Sawayama playing L, and I am now gay on a level I previously didn't ever think was possible, but we don't have to talk about that either.)

Uhhhh....TLDR, full-genderbent DN kind of cursed, but there are some really interesting ideas you could examine. (The one veto I'm gonna make is that I do not think this story works if Light is a girl, but-you guessed it-we really don't have to talk about that.)

Also, stan the stage musical for serotonin and clear skin!

FULL NAME: Lorikeet.

NICKNAME(S): None.

FACECLAIM: The adorable operatic soprano Lucia Popp, whom I would have wanted in the role if An Eternal Crown had been an opera in the 1960s.

Or else Patti Murrin as Anna in Frozen on Broadway, because she looks like a female clone of Håkan Hagegård's Papageno in Ingmar Bergman's Magic Flute. Honestly, they could be siblings!

BIRTHDAY: January 27.

ZODIAC SIGN: Aquarius.

SEXUALITY: Heterosexual.

GENDER: Female.

BIRTHPLACE: The forest that surrounds the ethereal palace of King Vorteyo.

LIVES IN: The Sisterhood of Nira's valley.

NATIONALITY: Vorteyo's kingdom. (One of these days I should think of names for these countries.)

FAMILY: None, she's an orphan with no knowledge of her origins. Still, I'm open to the idea that she might be Vorteyo's illegitimate daughter by one of his mortal mistresses, and that's why he employs her and ensures that she's looked after. This of course would also make Zeran her half-brother.

CHARACTERISTICS: Chatty, friendly, naïve, sensual, romantic, impulsive, sometimes tactless, anxious, "adorkable."

LIKES: Birds, bright colors, conversation, attractive men, compliments, affection, music, dancing, cake (especially gingerbread with raisins), the beauty of nature, climbing trees, companionship.

DISLIKES: Loneliness, danger, physical discomfort, boredom, sitting still, darkness, enclosed spaces, sudden loud noises, animals that bite, being flirted with by unattractive men.

OCCUPATION: Bird catcher.

WEAPON OF CHOICE: None.

OTHER PERSONAL INFO: She's a genderbent version of Papageno from The Magic Flute, but younger and more soulful. Papageno, bless him, is base, earthy instincts personified – apart from his reverence for romantic love, he shares nothing of the other characters' spiritual idealism, and only goes along with the priests' trials because they promise him a wife as his reward. But Lorikeet has more potential to be an idealist. She genuinely falls in love with the Sisterhood's kindly way of life and genuinely wants to join them in all the good they do for others. Unfortunately, much like Maria in The Sound of Music at the abbey, she's just not suited to life as a holy woman. Though her heart is in the right place, she's too emotional, impulsive, and mistake-prone... too AuDHD, we might argue, though she doesn't live in the right time or place to be diagnosed. Still, in the end she finds she can still be a part of the community, just not as an initiate, alongside her beloved Robin – and while she fail's to prove herself "worthy" of Robin's hand according to the priestesses' rules, powers higher than the priestesses do deem her worthy. All three of the principle young characters in this story – Sarisa, Zeran, and Lorikeet – are in search not only of love, but of where they belong, and all three find their place in the end, Lorikeet no exception.

NAME ANALYSIS: A lorikeet is a tiny, bright-colored parrot that's native to Australia and Southeast Asia. I choose this as her name because in The Magic Flute, Papageno's name means "little parrot."

I finally saw the new genderbent version of Company and I have some thoughts... (the Let Bobbie Be a Lesbian essay)

I want to preface all of this by saying that I love this musical and there was so so much of it that I enjoyed (which I'll get to). I LOVE the move to make Bobby/ie a woman. I think that it opens the door to a lot of incredible interpretations of an already fairly open-ended text.

However, so much was lost because of the other changes made to the text to force it to work.

The new lyrics felt so clunky. ("Bobbie really ought to have a fella"???? Why not "husband"?? Just ugh.) There are also new nicknames for her in the Company motif that I still can't figure out. I also find it odd that they chose to have the husbands sing Poor Baby and the wives sing Have I Got a Guy for You. Not that I necessarily think it was bad, just that I didn't think it was necessary. The lyric changes in those were strange as well (for example, why can't the husbands be "the only tenderness she's ever known"? Why change that to "comfort"?). I can't remember all of them but there were plenty of moments like that that just felt disjointed with the change.

They also removed the implications that Peter was gay - which I totally forgot about until my partner reminded me. If memory serves there's a little bit of flirting with Bobby in the original (?), but they could have mostly kept those lines and implied that he and Susan had divorced to form a more queerplatonic union, a look into a different type of lifestyle for Bobbie to consider - which leads me to my main point.

So much of this clunkiness could have been avoided if they just let Bobbie be interested in women. Assuming that this version of the musical is set in the present, Bobbie is a late millenial who grew up in a time when casual homophobia was *everywhere* and being out and proud was still very taboo, with possibly the only exposure to queer living being some very imperfect queer representation in media. She watched gay marriage become legalized. It's still NEW. She has so much internalized homophobia to work through, and I think that could play a lot into her avoidance of committing to someone and settling down.

This also brings life back into the girl/boyfriends, and how each of them gives Bobbie a different look into what her life could be. Look at Martha/P.J! Martha would be an excellent bit of lesbian representation -- a way for Bobbie to experience a world in which she's allowed to be loudly queer and part of the pulse of the city. Kathy is an example of a queer woman happily falling into a traditional lifestyle, one who just wants to act like and be treated like people in heterosexual couples. April is a little tricky (I actually loved turning her into a self-aware himbo vs. ditzy and naive woman). But! Given April's wounded butterfly story, she could be interpreted as another baby gay trying to accept who she is and heal from previous relationships that didn't treat her the way she deserved. She's someone who already decided she wants something more, someone who IS ready to dive in, which is why she's so clingy at the end of their scene (Barcelona).

I also HATED that Joanne's come-on to Bobbie at the end of the play was changed to her offering up Larry instead. If Bobbie has spent the whole play struggling to come to terms with her sexuality as well as a desire for more than just physical intimacy ("Who will I take care of?") I think this makes Joanne's "I just did someone a huge favor" line even more poignant. Bobbie has fully accepted not only herself, but that she wants love and companionship for real.

So why not just make Bobbie bisexual? Keep some of the changes but allow for some of the original text to return? I appreciate the forethought to avoid Bobbie falling into the indecisive bisexual stereotype, however! I think a major part of Bobbie's character is that she is terrified of making the wrong decision, and what those decisions mean for the life she's currently living and (mostly) content with. There's such a huge level of biphobia in our society (yes, including lgbtqia spaces) that we insist that if a bisexual woman marries a woman, she's actually just a lesbian. And if a bisexual woman marries a man, well then obviously she's just straight and saying she's bi for the attention. This could be a huge barrier for Bobbie to settle down, that fear that an entire part of her identity will disappear with it. While I don't necessarily think this is a better reading than a fully lesbian Bobbie, I do think there could be interesting changes to explore there, as well.

What I will say!!!!!!! Is that there were plenty of things that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I think changing "Tick-Tock" from a ballet while Bobbie and April/Andy have sex into a fun nightmare of Bobbies speed-running a traditional marriage while our Bobbie was forced to watch was *awesome*. I almost wanted even more Bobbies running around to make her feel even more suffocated.

I also loved swapping Jenny and David's lines, making David the doting, nervous husband while Jenny is this woman who has lost her individuality to being nothing but wife/mother. Watching him get stoned and climb over the set and struggle to say "bitch" was hilarious.

AND ABOUT THAT SET!

One of my favorite things about Company is that it's a concept musical -- there's no set timeline, the plot is entirely comprised of unrelated vignettes. I think they could have played WAY more into this using the set, but let me start by saying I LOVED the grayscale. I loved that it gave everything this manufactured, fake feeling. And seeing Bobbie's bright red outfit in contrast was so nice and striking. Plus, seeing how small and crowded Bobbie's apartment was on such a large stage was an incredible visual (when the whole cast squeezed in for the first "Company"?? awesome)

I was GAGGED in the very beginning when Bobbie was pulling on all the doors of her apartment and couldn't escape, only for the set to shift and move so that when she could finally open a door, it led right into Harry and Sarah's apartment. Why didn't they do more of that??? I wanted so badly for them to always have Bobbie in this forced unreality of "how did I get here? Have I always been here?". Then each time she does finally escape a scene she'd find herself stuck in another one. I feel like that tension could have built beautifully throughout until the final "Company" motif when she finally breaks and interrupts them (Being Alive). It's not like they *didn't* do this (for example, the Peter and Susan's balcony lowers on her in a way that shows she wasn't expecting it), but it could have been a much, much bigger part of the overall theme had they really pushed it.

I did also really like the repeating 35's in the background of all the scenes, like it was a constant reminder for Bobbie that she couldn't escape. I wish there was even more of that, too (the balloons getting bigger was a vv nice touch, for example).

I also appreciated that in the scenes where the songs are sung as asides (Poor Baby, The Little Things You Do Together), Bobbie gets to interact with the singers while the rest of the cast is frozen. That's a great change, and once again plays into that idea that Bobbie feels stuck and is trying to escape/work through all these issues in her head throughout the play.

I know this got long, I guess my point is that with all the fun, incredible changes they made (The Amy/Jaime scene was hilarious. And I didn't even TALK ABOUT all the hidden passages in that set!!), they fell short of making the choices that would have really caused this interpretation to shine. An issue I always have with Company is that I never *really* root for Bobby. Every time he makes a poor decision it's like "well, there he goes again". I think keeping a lot of the changes, changing Bobby into Bobbie, and allowing her to be a lesbian trying to come to grips with her sexuality while also giving herself permission to open up her heart to what a serious relationship could be, would make this a perfect re-imagining of the original text.

As promised, some things I found while looking back on my Twitter account.

1. The worst Bloody War names

- Kayda (and his nickname Kay) is meant to be pronounced like KAIda. I dont know why I didn't just go with that because KAYda doesn't look like it should be pronounced that way.

- Veridis should technically be Viridis but Viri is the nickname for Virineya so I guess I changed the first i to an e so he could be Veri instead.

- Tamesis is apparently ALSO the name of a water goddess and not just a gender neutral name meaning dark one (I probably found it by looking up cool names or something). The only watery thing about Tamesis Regalia is that he lives on the Gemsea Isles which is the water + gem/mineral themed country and goes to the water themed school

- My way of naming countries and places within them usually involves google translating words that fit the theming into the language(s) of the cultures they are

inspired by but its also fucking google translate and I'm Fucking Stupid so I misread or some shit half the time (see the next section) and Acallmagi is combined from magic and 'acall', which i thought was french for lull.

It's not. Accalmie is lull. So It's close enough even if its missing an extra c + unfortunately it feels too late to change it because Acallmagi has been said so many times and its always been spelled that way.

Bonus: Names that I fixed.

- For some time I spelled Rayden as Raydon (after I made a typo and like confused myself) but I realized I hated it so I changed it back.

- Vetersvist, which it was originally written down as, somehow got an extra s in there (Vestervist). I probably need to go back and edit things to remove that s. It may be because the two dont look too different but Accalmagi looks weird to me compared to Acallmagi which ive been looking at forever. I guess removing 1 letter doesnt make autism brain that hates change angry but changing a letter and swapping its place does.

BONUS 2: Fun Vian Fact

I wanted to be called Via when i was younger (my full name is Victoria so I just like removed the ctori from it) and I made a genderbent version named vVan who became his own character. (This is who Cicely's brother Nettle is loosely based off of) Vian was made during the rp BW was inspired by and I just wanted a guy named Vian so Vian was his name. He was a lot more mean and aggressive and had more common sense back then but I love my silly dense naive fool now <3

2. The 'TLDR' backstory of Rene Lyon and Lukariah 'Luk' Durand, featuring Aether Lightseeker

Rene and Luk were besties during elementary school. During middle school, Luk had a bunch of anger issues and they got into a fight. They decided that they hated each other, and got it physical until they both had to be tutored by Aether at the same time. Aether made them talk shit out and then they did things as a trio. (Luk mellowed out during it)

In high school, Luk and rene started dating and Rene got obsessed with money and also become the most annoying person ever (to the rest of the magic school gang - which is Mars, Pluto, and Seraphim).

Rene proceeded to also mellow out during the summer before going to Frost's Guidance. He's still chaotic and a little annoying but less so. And also he dies of cringe when he thinks of anything his younger self did ever. This may continue on in his life. Just Like Me.

3. Kenny's scar (Old. Funny?)

Azelf: How did you get that scar on your hand Kenny?

Kenny: I fought a teros with my bare hands!!!

*Reality*

Kenny: Hey Frey! Do you think I can catch this knife if I throw it in the air?

*He could not.*

Present Tori's thoughts: Honestly I'd replace Freyja with her sister in being the one Kenny asks but it also leaves room for interpretation of it being very recent if it's Freyja because well... Severa's dead.

4. The origin of the characters with Pokemon names

This is stupid. I wanted to use a faceclaim with blue hair and I joked about naming him Azelf bc I was max lair hunting for a shiny Azelf in Pokemon Shield at the time. A friend said to do it - but give him the most normal last name ever. So I did and it was so funny to me that when I added him to the story and made Shaymin, Mesprit, Uxie, and their families, I stuck too it. Though, Mesprit's surname was made fancier because he's nobility now. (I should figure things out about nobility because really they're just rich and prominent families at the moment, save for the Spooks.)

5. Various comic / doodle ideas

I can't anatomy or color well but these are funny doodke ideas I've had.

- Pyrrhus works at KFC and vVan comes to annoy him

- Hibiki babysits a tamagotchi except it was designed specifically to torment him

- Various bodyswap shenanigans

- Lian as Big the Cat

- Celeste pushing Basil down the stairs

- Ray having a dream about Tsubasa growing around a foot and becoming taller than him, and waking up thinking 'Thank the Gods we're fully grown! No surprise growth spurts!' and then it either cuts to Tsubasa wishing on a star that he was over 6 foot and the star winks at him or there's a timeskip where all his friends, who were shorter than him, are at least an inch taller than him and Tsubasa has gone from 5'5" to 6'4". (Everyone getting taller than Ray after he prided himself on being the tallest throughout childhood is literally canon. Sorry Ray.)

6. Seidel siblings and avoidance

One thing that all 4 Seidel siblings have in common is that they will bottle things up until they can't anymore and, if able, avoid the root of a problem. But, when it comes to others and their problems, they wont stand by and will face the root for/with them if needed.

Ray's a very good actor - it's hard to tell how he's truly feeling but he is a crybaby and emotional so his tolerance for bottling things up is lower than the others'. Before the breaking point, however, only those really close to him can SOMETIMES see past the act.

Em wears his heart on his sleeve, so despite his insistence that everything is okay, it's not hard to tell when hes bottling something up because he's fidgety and his cheer is oftentimes forced.

Jo is less expressive, but when shes upset she does waver a bit, enough that its noticable to those paying attention. The longer it goes on, the more cracks start to appear. A sign is that she sighs a lot more and spaces out.

Leni, like Jo, isn't the most expressive, but she tends to be a bit more hotheaded when upset - she's a bit argumentative and defensive. At her breaking point she's prone to shouting and screaming in frustration. That said, if its extreme enough, she will sort of just shut down.

7. Should he kiss his boyfriend?

Hibiki: My boyfriend has poison breath, should I kiss him?

Miaki, his sister: It depends on how much control he has over his ability.

Mira, avid hater of the boyfriend: No. It might kill you, and to be honest, I really don't know what you see in him.

Rayden, his boyfriend: YES?!?!

Hibiki obviously goes with yes, kiss the boyfriend.

Rayden has good control over his powers.

Miaki is happy for them.

Mira still doesnt understand what's appealing about Rayden after she argues with him for nth time.

8. Ray facts

- Doesnt like to be touched without warning unless he trusts a person ir they are a small child. Trusted people include his family, KR-RA, some members of KR-RA's families, and close friends.

- Bites when not warned by people he isn't close to about being touched.

- Very affectionate person with those he is close to only.

- Actually a shy and emotional person, usually doesn't act unless someone he cares about is threatened. Very passive.

- When he's at a very low-low, instead of his looser clothes that reveal a shoulder, he covers himself up.

- Very hard to monitor because hes the type to act like everything fine - even his family and KR-RA have trouble seeing past the act until he cant hide it anymore

- Very anxious. not much self confidence

- Very very self concious about his looks and illnesses and being underweight

- Will neglect his own well being during low points

- Introverted

- Cannot stand being completely alone with his loved ones nowhere nearby fir prolonged periods of time

- Likes mmos and farming sims

- Alongside their whirlwind of a medical history, the Seidel family's teeth are very sharp despite being human and not creatura. Sometimes he bites during combat

- Heavy sleeper. Pain to wake up, even from a nightmare. Will bite if someone he isnt close to is waking him - especially up after a nightmare or night terror

- Soft spot for children

- Likes gardening, also likes painting + other arts and crafts

- 5 seperate medical professionals could tell him that it's okay for him to indulge himself and that he doesn't have to be so strict, especially since he's underweight and he would ignore it because he HATES medical talk. Even if they location of the conversation is far away from any medical facility. He's very afraid of death and losing his life due to his condition like Em and Jo.

9. A very sweet Tsubasa and Ray moment from the past

Sometimes Ray gets really anxious and shaky, though it's usually around the days the Em and Jo died or their birthday. It's not too hard to discern from whether or not its his sugar because when it happens he tends to cling onto those he cares about.

The twins were both 19 when they died, and Em died around Ray's birthday.

On Ray"s 19th birthday, Tsubasa comes over to the Seidel's house and had been planning on just giving Ray a gift and leaving. Ray's moms welcome him in but warn him that Ray might not want to see him and that he hasn't left his room ever since he went back upstairs. Tsubasa forces his way in, and there is no sign of Ray, save for the shivering form hiding underneath a blanket. Ray pokes his head out and Tsubasa sits by him and asks what was wrong.

It's obvious Ray has been crying before but when words start gushing out of his mouth, tears come too. He has been fearing getting older since he was little and after what happened to Em and Jo, it made those fears even worse because he's the same age as they were when it all happened and it's bound to happen to him eventually and so on and so forth..He rambles about everything he struggles with, especially with being extremely self conscious of his own body image and mannerisms

Tsubasa listenes. Ray hardly talks about how he really feels. If he does, it's usually because its obvious something is bugging him. But he's a great actor, and great at hiding things. so to hear him pour everything out like this, completely unprompted, with no prodding on Tsubasa's end, he knows that this has been kept inside for a looong time.

But he isn't good with words of comfort. Tsubasa dlesn't sugarcoat things unless absolutely necessary. He gives everyone mean nicknames. People are AFRAID of him! So, he doesn't say anything. But, if there is one thing he knows, it is that actions spoke louder than words. He may not know what to say, but he sure as hell knows what to do. He lies down, he wraps Ray in a hug, and tries to lure him into sleep.

It works, but against all the odds, Tsubasa also lures himself to sleep. Tsubasa Amanogawa, who has so much trouble falling asleep that sleeping medicines are oftentimes ineffective and many nights he just pulls an all nighter, falls asleep in his best friend's bed, cuddling him.

When he wakes up, it's to Kiku shaking him awake while Rin desperately tells her not to do so. She has a whole sob story about how she thought he was dead. Rin just sighs and apologizedls. They're cousins who are as close as siblings and Kiku is prone to overreacting, so he should have expected it, but Tsubasa can't help but feel angry at her for waking him up. The warmth of someone else is comforting and it is the best sleep he has had in years. But it's Kiku, so he holds back.

He doesn't want to leave but Adette wants him to come home for dinner, so he begrudgingly leaves Ray a note apologizing for leaving him so suddenly and promising to make it up to him when KRRRA (though not officially a team yet) gets together to celebrate both his and Renata's birthdays. Before they leave, Leni pulls him aside and thanks him, but she never tells him why before he leaves.

When Ray wakes up, he refuses to wash his sheets until Tsubasa's scent fades away because it helps him calm his anxieties and fall asleep. He keeps the note pressed in a highschool yearbook, and smiles every time he finds it while reminiscing.

I got bored so I took stencils and drew a DC au

This is Dahlia Wayne Al Ghul my genderbent version which is a little softer than Damian and less attached to their families , so more family found

Maps: unlike in the canon here Dahlia was never expelled from Gotham academy so their friendship is actually quite good, since Maps sees Dahlia as a warrior princess and Dahlia felt loved with this plus they solve one or another mystery together and became an honorary member of the detective / pizza club. Rose: she gets along very well with Rose although Rose did not know her as Robin but as Flower girl who is an alias that Dahlia uses in a somewhat liberating way where she goes to bars, she says she does work to collect information for hitmen and other things, in addition to that the wounds are painted with phosphorescent paint, sometimes flowers are painted, and each bar that goes says a different name, that of a flower to the point that it remains with the nickname of Flower girl

Rose met her in one of these bars and although she did not want to get involved in other people's business, she ended up in some way that neither of them understood by adopting Dahlia as a younger sister, they both appreciated each other and learned to trust, currently Rose knows that Flower girl is Robin , just like her real name is Dahlia.

Jericho: Jericho and Dahlia have a somewhat more rigid relationship because they met through Rose in times of crisis and missions but over time they became more united than when the mess happened where they believed that Dahlia was Slade's daughter, he as Rose were willing to help her and make her part of the family.

Titans:

She gets along much better with her team, especially with Xiomara / Crush, besides that you must take his friends like Colin, Maps on missions from time to time, Maps is the most problematic because it starts talking a lot about how great are the heros, to the point of flirting ...

Emiko is tired of that and Cruhs and Dahlia have gotten used to it, they fight a lot but they get along.

Xiomara also by accident discovered that Flower girl and Robin were the same person, the thing is that she likes Flower Gir and they meet from time to time ... one day Dahlia forgot to put on her scent inhibitor and Crush recognized her, After almost ruining a mission together they got along again, from time to time they go to bars to dance and ... drink ... they don't drink much.

If Dahlia want to take down a mafia she take her team of friends / family found.

Maya, Rose, Colin and Dahlia take down mafias when they are bored since none of them have clear morals, Dahlia is more gray in this version.

4. Who is the meme lover?

Gosh I want to say Ludwig because he's the least likely answer and I can see it being like a guilty pleasure for him. But Francis to me would be the most likely one to have the sense of humour to enjoy memes.

34. What would they dress up as, for Halloween?

Hmm...Part of me is thinking something from Rocky Horror Picture show. I have a couple ideas of who would be who:

First idea: Ludwig as Rocky, Arthur as Frank N Furter and Francis as Janet

Second idea: Ludwig as Janet (or a genderbent version of her), Arthur as either Frank N Furter or Brad and Francis as either Frank N Furter or Brad depending on who Arthur ends up as.

I could also see them dressing up in historical pieces such as medieval or victorian styles.

36. Do they have pet names for one another?

Arthur will usually use dear, darling, love and for Francis in particular frog (also insults in general treated as endearment).

Francis uses mon chere, mon amour, for Arthur in particular mon lapin (my rabbit/bunny) and for Ludwig mon loulou*

(*Note: I wanted Francis to have a special nickname for Ludwig like he did for Arthur so I searched up some French terms of endearment. Mon loulou came up and the website says it means my wolf, but when I put the term into the translation program it says it meanings something along the lines of darling. When I put wolf into the translation program is comes back loup. Whatever it means, I found it really cute so I decided to add it.)

Ludwig: He doesn't really use nicknames though he may on occasion call Arthur Mein Hase (my bunny) and Francis Schatz or maybe even Mein Engel*

(Another Note: I don't know how reliable the website is, but when researching German terms of endearment, engel came up saying usually that its used for women, but is fairly popular among men in same-sex relationships. I thought that fact was neat and the term "angel" quite fitting for Francis so I decided to add it.)

seeing as I'm currently reading the heirs of the night books (I'm at book four), I think it's time to do some comparing and ranting hehe.

(Warning: spoilers for the books if you haven't read them yet and plan on doing that.)

things that are different from the show:

– a lot, tbh. Which doesn't mean it's bad! The show is amazing imo, but it's pretty different from the books which is a fact that can't be denied.

– Dracula for example has a lot less appearances, especially in the first three books. Then, he starts to have a bigger and more important role as (main) antagonist.

– a lot of characters from the books aren't in the show, which is very sad. A few others are still there but much younger, for example Luciano who originally was the same age as Alisa, Ivy and Lars.

– speaking of Lars: his name in the books is Franz Leopold de Dracas, nicknamed Leo (fortunately), and he's from Vienna, Austria, like the rest of the Dracas clan. He's an arrogant jerk in the beginning (especially in book one) but gets better. Slightly better. He also used to have a crush on Ivy (they even kissed once), but it didn't last long as soon as he found out she wasn't born as a vampire. He still ends up with Alisa tho. He has dark hair and brown eyes (as far as I remember), so he and Alisa basically swapped appearances (in the books she's blonde with blue eyes).

– and before I forget it; the vampire academy doesn't take place on board of a ship over the span of a few weeks or months (tbh I've kind of forgotten the time line of the show). Instead, every school year is spent in another country with the respective clan. The first year is in Rome with the Nosferas, the second in Ireland with the Lycana, the third in Paris with the Pyras, the fourth is in Vienna with the Dracas, and the fifth is probably in London with the Vyrad. (I'm still at book four, so I'm not completely sure, but seeing as book five is called Vyrad, the chances are pretty good.)

– Nicu and Calvina aren't characters from the books, but they're basically genderbent versions of two other characters I'll mention again later. Seeing as I don't like Nicu that much anyways, it's not that bad of a thing.

– Ivy has silver hair! And Seymour actually is her twin brother. They're the children of a druid, Tara, and Seymour is a werewolf. They got turned into a vampire (Ivy)/werewolf (Seymour) to ensure peace between the vampires and werewolves of Ireland. It's a long story. They're both over a hundred years old btw.

– the Noaidi isn't a book character either.

– oh right and the clans don't need any rubies to possess their powers, they just developed them over time and can easily teach it to other vampires.

Things from the books I wish they'd kept in the show:

– Latona!! I love her so much, and she and Alisa could have bonded over being annoyed by misogyny. (For everyone who hasn't read the books: Latona is basically female Nicu but much more awesome. She's the niece of the vampire hunter Carmelo and falls in love with Malcolm. She also basically has a found family type of relationship with Bram fucking Stoker, yk, the guy who wrote Dracula (and who has a lot of guest appearances in the books).

– the fact that the Dracas are from Vienna. As an Austrian, this deeply offends me.

– the fact that Lars/Leo has drunk human blood before he did that ritual thing that officially made him an adult. (Like, way before. The ritual happens when they're like 17, and the academy started when he was 13, and he'd already drunk it by then.)

– the whole thing with a vampire's body automatically falling asleep at sunrise. unlike in the show, they can't stay awake during the day. It doesn't matter where they are, they just fall over like they just died lol. It isn't called rigor mortis for nothing I guess.

– and, of course, the fact that Leo can fight with a sword and is really good at it. His cousins/relatives, Anna Christina, Karl Philipp and Marie Luise can fight with a sword, too, but Anna Christina is the only one of the three who's as good as Leo.

I'm planning to (eventually) write an au where Sarah joins the newsies w/ davey (and the clothing borrowing thing from the original script)(I know this isn't /the/ most historically accurate au), but I'm unsure about what to use as a ""genderbent"" cover name/possibly eventual nickname, and I don't want to be culturally/historically/etc innaccurate, and this seemed like a good place to go to ask? Sorry for taking so long to answer anon! I just got my laptop back today so now I can see it! Also, I totally appreciate and enjoy historically inaccurate AUs! They’re fun to read, and as long as you don’t insist that refrigerators were around in 1890, then I’m fine (no joke, I actually read this once)! Happy writing!

So if you’re going the Jewish/Eastern European decent route-which would be amazing and super accurate- I have here a pdf of popular/commonly found Hebrew and Russian names from the late 1800 census and immigration records, it’s fun to scroll through. What I’d probably recommend you do, read them out loud to yourself to get the “Americanized” version of the name, remember, at this time, many officials didn’t take the time to actually write down what your name was, they’d just guess at the letters from only hearing it once or twice. {Personal note: this is why my grandparent’s last name had 6 extra letters in it}

Or, if you just want to take a lot of the effort out, here’s the top names of the 1890s from the US Social Security office!

TIP FOR NAMING CHARACTERS THOUGH: remember to look up the popular names for the year that your character was roughly born, there’s nothing that pulls me out of a story as much as seeing a name be popular that someone’s grandmother would have had, or alternatively, their youngest sibling would have. Names, just like other things, have fads. That little bit of extra research may go a long way!

Jacob Glaive Denneth, Glaive is a kind of lance(and in fact his favorite kind of weapons are lances/spears)

David doesn’t give him nicknames, but sometimes he calls him Snake(because he is Slytherin), but in general David can’t guess a decent or funny nickname for him.

2.When was Jacob born?

Never thought about it, but i think he would be born around the first half of December…so probably he is a Sagittarius(in the games gave me the same feeling i have about my father, he may love you but they love you in a way that makes me feel angry, like if you are not sure if they love you or they hate you…and my father was born 1st December and by that he is a Sagittarius…so that’s my association)

3.What does Jacob look like?

Red hair, light red eyes…no scar, quite fit pretty much like David, if i have to choose a characters from medias, i would say Noriaki Kakyoin from Jojo Stardust Crusaders(mostly because like Jacob, he wears green clothes) or a genderbent version of Shyvana from league of legends.

Jacob is spoiled by his father because Mr.Denneth thinks that Jacob is the most talented kid ever, because he showed many talents and traits when he was only a kid…but Jacob on the other side, doesn’t really care about his father because he thinks he is mentally blind. What i mean? Jacob notice that Baby!David is showing other wonderful talents but their father is so obsessed with Jacob to not truly see that he should spoil them both equally.

Jacob as matter of fact hates his dead mother, she died giving birth to David, applying a curse on that baby, and spreading hate-speeches(pureblood supremacist kind of speech) as a ghost all around Hogwarts, making difficult for David to truly make some friends sooner. Jacob if he could, would instantly exorcise his mother soon as he will see her.

About David’s foster parents(also known as Badea’s parents) he really likes them, they’re nice, helpful, funny, open-minded, enough to trust them to take care of David while he was dealing with Hogwarts.

8.What is his favorite subject?

Probably Apparition, Jacob is a funny/teasing guy, i think even during year Six, he will just apparate himself everywhere near David for the sake of some puns or using their mind-connection for take him away from stressful situations(like siding with Penny or Bea, which it may send David over the edge because he doesn’t want to be involved in their family fight).

11.Who is his least favorite professor?

He is a slytherin and yet, he doesn’t like Slughorn, mostly for his elitism, kind, fantastic teacher but that elitism, that obsession of “collecting people” was really annoying for him, in his eyes was like playing favorites…very boring, very annoying.

He is protective, unpredictable, and funny(in his own way, like you must know him for fully understand his kind of humor)

Either as Auror or some “travelling vigilantes” mostly because i think that R gave him enough crap already to be bloody furious with them, so he does what it’s necessary for take them down once and for all, he uses any means necessary for the sake of take down someone who is corrupted but protected by laws.

After some years or so, I’ve finally decided to return to the FFXIV rp scene with Luke as my fourth WOL that I’ve created. I just needed something new, at first, and to maybe dip my hands a little into writing original characters. I did write them before but not as much as I’ve written canon characters ( 98% of the time, really ).

Q4: WHAT FIRST ATTRACTED YOU TO THIS CHARACTER?:

As I played his character in the game, his dialogues and thought process appeared in my head and there we have it.

Q5: DESCRIBE THE BIGGEST THING YOU DISLIKE ABOUT YOUR MUSE:

He’s rather internalized and indecisive. I probably wouldn’t get along with him very well irl since I’m usually very straightforward, swift and prefers not to complicate things lmao.

Q6: WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN COMMON WITH YOUR MUSE?:

We are both really chill people and very introverted. Soft colours are our favourite too and uhhh... we are both pretty short ? but I guess this goes for a lot of midlander hyurs in comparison to elezens, roegadyns and au ra males. We like sketching too and are very, very vanilla physically ( i make a lot of innuendos for laughs though while Luke doesn’t ). But ultimately for me, I’m an aro/ace while he’s demi/demi.

Q7: HOW DOES YOUR MUSE FEEL ABOUT YOU?:

While we probably disagree with a lot of things, Luke probably likes the quiet, chill and need to be alone that comes along with me. There isn’t much opinion I’d imagine him having with me, other than the fact that I really need to do the shit that I wanted myself to do and quit adding more muses onto my full hands lmao.

Q8: WHAT CHARACTERS DOES YOUR MUSE HAVE INTERESTING INTERACTIONS WITH?

With my other muse, Laipheaux. While he’s often with Estelle, Luke really has a deeper sibling connection with Laipheaux because of how much he looks up to him and how Laipheaux is the one who managed to coax him into becoming more comfortable around people. He visits Laipheaux a lot and Laiph at times can tell when sometimes is weighing heavily in Luke’s mind but doesn’t pry. Luke was devastated when Laiph returned to the forest, of course, but becomes calmer when Laiph visits from time to time, bringing him small animals and minions as a show that Laiph still cares and that their sibling ship hasn’t eradicated.

Q9: WHAT GIVES YOU INSPIRATION TO WRITE YOUR MUSE?:

Mainly, my love for the game. I’ve been playing it for a long time and I just can’t get tired of restarting the storyline over and over again. I still need to get past the msqs though but I have a blast playing it when Luke is on the screen.

Q10: HOW LONG DID THIS TAKE YOU TO COMPLETE?:

A few hours, to be honest, since there are some questions that I need a lot of googling to answer.

Fred - I'm being honest when I say I already feel a very "feminine" energy from Fred as he is. Female Fred is just a futch-y construction working mom and everything else is exactly the same. She still wears the same clothes from the men's section (need them pockets). She still loves her son to the ends of the earth. Probably keeps her hair in a cute bisexual bob. And her nickname was still Freddie as a kid! Drinks beer, almost went pro after high school... yadda yadda. I love her so much and I want her to be my mother and my wife.

FP - I honestly just picture a grown up version of Briana with more leather. To be fair Briana WOULD wear more leather if she lived in a colder climate but... smh. Anyway lady FP has a big cloud of dark brunette hair and, unlike Freddie, fully embraces tight curve-hugging jeans as part of her bike riding attire. Basically a kind of sloppy biker lady who wears a lot of bandanas round her neck for some unknown reason. Makes out a lot with her girlfriend Freddie on the back of her bike.... nice.... and hides some bodies but we dont have to talk about that

Hal - I picture a female Hal to be a lot like Alice was in the comics. Quiet, caring mom who can run a household effortlessly and always makes time for her kids. Or maybe she's still the breadwinner, and her husband stays home and runs the house. Loves journalism and her kids.

Hiram - First of all, she still wears suits so jot that down. Pulls her hair back really tight and gels it down.... EXPENSIVE jewlery.... dramatic makeup... hates children.... hates everyone..... I love her.

Tom - God I love this one. Just this really really tired and exasperated lady cop with perpetually flyaway hair. Still shredded as hell though!! Could kill a man with her arms.

Clifford - just like, a stuffy old matriarch whos bald as a cue ball but wears these dramatic red wigs that have to be styled seven ways from sunday by a tired maid every morning... amazing

Sierra - SIERRA WOULD BE GORGEOUS AS A DUDE DONT EVEN PLAY ME. HANDSOME AS HELL LAWYER FELLA. VERY WELL DRESSED. EATS HEALTHY AND GOES FOR RUNS EVERY MORNING. LOVES MUSIC. Also he's raising Josie as a single dad soft....

Mary - SEXY REDHEAD LAWYER MAN. WOW.

Penelope - Very sad man. Honestly not unlike Fred now. Gorgeous and mysterious though.... Still wears a single glove. Has a very classy parlour for his gentlemen callers. Used to the finer things in life.

Hermione - VERY WELL DRESSED MAN. Would probably drink something like scotch instead of wine but otherwise basically the same. Loves his daughter very much. A little too flirty with Freddie Andrews..... FP still doesn't like him.

Alice - DAD ALICE HAS EVERYONE AT THE PTA QUAKING IN FEAR. MOST LIKELY TO START A RIOT AT THE SCHOOL BAKE SALE. MOST LIKELY TO THROW A CHAIR ACROSS THE ROOM AT MIDDLE SCHOOL GRADUATION. EXPECTS A LOT FROM HIS KIDS BUT LOVES THEM DEARLY. BASICALLY THE SAME AS NOW.. BUT WEARS A LOT OF CORAL/BABY BLUE DRESS SHIRTS WITH SLACKS AND SHOES AND KEEPS HIS HAIR SHORT. AN AMAZING CHEF AND ALLEGED "BIRDWATCHING" ENTHUSIAST ... ITS HOW HE EXPLAINS THE BINOCULARS.

Each person has a colored dot. Each dot represents a different group. I will be listing off characters based on whichever colored group they are in.

Pink - Me and Mya, that’s simple enough. It’s me and my alter ego.

Orange - From the top, there’s Samantha, Gabriella, Catherine, Mia, Thalia and Amy. They are a representation of different parts of my personality, like Thomas Sanders, but different.

Bright Blue - From the top, there’s Adam, Catherine, Emma, Jacob(H) and Amy. They are from one of the first book ideas I’ve ever had in my life. Catherine and Amy were added into the personality squad a few years later, but this was their origin.

Green - Erisa is the only one from this group. She is My dnd character, a half-elf bard that you might have seen in previous drawings. She’s new, but cool in my opinion.

Dark Green - Obrehn is the only one from this group as well. She is my Homestuck oc from about 3 years ago. I thought it would be nice to include her since I haven’t, well, ever.

Blue - From the top, we have Bailey, Haidey, Haiden and Benley. They are the Bailey Sibs! I though it would be a disgrace not to include them, they’re just too pivotal in my Tumblr popularity(not to mention they’re just adorable!)

Sky Blue - From the top, we have Hyperion and Gale. They’re from a book idea I had a few months ago. I haven’t shown Gale yet, but you’ve seen Hyperion a few times now.

Seafoam Green(don’t judge me) - From the top, we have Jacob(T), Jon, Teal, Sierra, Ruby, Ethan and Henri. Technically, Sierra isn’t mine, she belongs to the lovely @wisekingpleb, but I couldn’t think of anyone else that was more fit to be in that spot. This group has the most people because it’s one of my favorites and I enjoy having them all together. You’ve seen Jacob, Jon, and Teal a few times, but Henri Ruby and Ethan are new to the soldier squad™. They’re still equally awesome though.

Yellow - From the top, there’s Maisy and Riley. They are from a book idea that I came up with a few months ago. I like seeing them included in things, I seem to only have one or two references for them, neither with color. Now they’re there! Boom.

Dark Red - Friday is the only one in this group. Mostly because she’s the only one I’ve come up with. Like her name implies, she is my representation of the day Friday. I have many bored sketches of her in my math books, but like Maisy, she had no color. I’m glad to finally give her the color I had hoped for.

Yellow Green - From the top, there’s Stella and Dominic. They are two random characters I came up in my notebook. They slowly shaped into what they look like now, but until the boat drawing, they had no color.

Red - Satan, or Topaz, is the only one in this group. If you have seen my YouTube channel, you’ve met Topaz. Her nickname was Satan, and I made a character out of it(she was supposed to have horns, but I uh kinda forgot lol).

Gold - Daniel is the only one in this group, but he’s not the only existing character where he’s from. Although I don’t have much of an idea for him, he’s a 9 year old kid that’s just the biggest prankster ever.

Dark Blue - From the top, there’s Thomas and Jacob. This Jacob is slightly different from Jacob H from up above in the bright blue group, but he’s not just carbon copy. Also Thomas is technically just the genderbent version of Thalia, but shhhhhhhhhhhhh🤫

And I think that’s all of them!

I’ve already typed too much, lemme skedaddle off to bed now...
