James is a hungry man and his favourite meal is eating Regulus out. Regulus traps him between his thighs until he's finished and James is happy to know exactly where he belongs. He's not allowed to be anywhere else until Regulus lets him go.

Birthday Wish (1/1) (jegulus)
It was James' birthday and all week he had been saying to Regulus he didn't want anything, not a party, not attention, not gifts. Nothing. And yet he had a made a big plan to host all of his friends and then go out after.
And Regulus was a bit confused because when Regulus says he wants nothing, he means nothing. Not getting out of bed, not lights, no sounds, just vegging out. Maybe at most he'll want James to hold him.
For now, Regulus has decided to just go along with the plans. To let James be his bubbly outgoing self. It was his birthday after all.
Everyone came to the house, drank and chatted, laughed and laughed. Finally they went out, went dancing, and James was having a hard time keeping his hands PG with Regulus dancing all over him.
When they finally got home, they fell into bed. They didn't care that they were hot and sweaty from the bar, they would have to clean up the house tomorrow anyone. Or later today at this point. But when James rolled over and nuzzled into Regulus' arms, Regulus knew what was going to come next.
A kiss. On his cheek softly.
A squeeze. Of his ribs gently.
A sigh. Deep from his soul.
And then, the whisper.
"Reg?"
"Yes love?"
"Thank you."
"Anything for you."
"It was a lot yeah?"
"It was busy, yes. But did you have a good time?"
"Yes."
"I'm sensing a but?"
"Could we just not see anyone at all tomorrow?"
There it was. James' real ask, always struggling to tell others no when it would make them happy to celebrate him. Regulus couldn't deny him anything anyway but this was an easy request.
"Of course. I'll even answer the door for take always." And regulus kisses James' head.
And finally the last whisper into the dark before James quickly fell asleep, "I love you."
"I love you too."

CW: slight injury, nothing major, fluff
Tumblr media
“Okay, well the wound is closed but there’s not much I can do about the bruising or the blood on your shirt.” James said as he gently pulled your uniform shirt back down from where he’d been inspecting your ribs.
“That’s fine – I’ll ice it later; I’ve gotta meet the girls like five minutes ago.” You said as you pulled a jumper over yourself to hide the blood staining your shirt.
“Are you sure you shouldn’t go to Madame Pomfrey?” James asked with a grimace.
You rolled your eyes. “If it hurts terribly, I’ll go later.”
“And you think you’ll be able to avoid Remus and Sirius until then?” James asked somewhat doubtfully. You grimaced in response. “This close to the moon, Remus will be able to smell that blood on you from across the castle.”
“I can’t worry about that right now; I need to go.” You said simply as the two of you rounded the corner.
You halted suddenly as you spotted Remus and Sirius down the hall – they quickly noticed your tense demeanor which caused them to slowly cease their movements too, mirroring you as you stared them down and they you from across the corridor.
“James.” You murmured without moving a muscle.
“Yeah?”
“Do you see them too?”
“Yeah.”
“Can you hide me?”
James groaned. “Y/N…”
“I can’t believe you’re leaving me to the wolves.”
“I love you, you’re the sister I never had...but I’ve got a Regulus to think about, you know?”
“It’s been an honour knowing you.” You responded solemnly, nodding in understanding.
“God speed.” He whispered back before you took off in a sprint.
You could hear a shout and heavy footfalls behind you alerting you to the fact that you were indeed being followed.
You rounded corners and climbed flights of stairs, lungs and legs burning from the effort as you very much regretted your choice to bolt. Maybe you could have talked about it? Maybe you could have convinced Remus you were fine and did not need medical attention? Maybe Sirius would have sided with you?
But no, you chose to run when Remus was at his most possessive, territorial, and protective, and he was with accompanied by Sirius who rivaled Remus’ full moon possessiveness all month round. And also, why the hell does this school have so many stairs!?
Suddenly, refuge came in the form of the third-floor girls’ lavatory. You barrelled your way through the door, clamoring into a stall and locking the door behind you. You sat on the toilet seat and pulled your knees to your chest, though it was all for naught, because even if no one could see your feet, they’d surely hear your laboured breathing.
You heard the door open again and the scuffling of feet followed by deep sighs. You pointed your face to the ceiling as you listened to the footsteps growing closer and closer before Sirius’ head and arms flung over the top of the stall beside you where he beamed goofily at you.
“Hey gorgeous! What’re you doing?” He sung casually.
“What are you doing in here? This is the girl’s room.” You hissed at him as your face heated in embarrassment – both from being caught hiding from your boyfriends and of your boyfriend for following you to the loo.
“Where you go, I go.” He said simply with a shrug as if talking to his girlfriend over a bathroom stall was common practice.
“Do you really think there’s anywhere in this castle that you can hide that I won’t find you?” Remus deadpanned from your opposite side, and you spooked (nearly slipping into the damned toilet) as you noticed he too was standing on the toilet of the stall beside you in order to look down on you.
“Oh, for crying out loud.” You muttered as you stood from your toilet hideout and exited the stall.
“Not that I wouldn’t spend the rest of my life chasing you, darling but-” Sirius started teasingly before he was cut off by Remus.
“What happened!?” He rasped as he reached for you gently.
“I’m fine, Rem.” You tried, but he swatted your hands away.
Slowly, so slowly – as if he was afraid the fabric of your clothes would somehow bruise your skin – lifted your jumper to expose the bloody button up below it.
“Baby!” Sirius cooed in sympathy.
“I’m fine.” You reiterated.
Remus shot you an unimpressed look. “Forgive me if I don’t believe you. Can you take this off, please?” He said as he gently lifted you to sit on the edge of the bathroom counter, motioning to the jumper currently shielding his view.
You acquiesced and also began lifting the side of your blouse up unprompted. Both boys hissed as they saw the bruising on your ribs.
“What happened?” Remus asked again, gently prodding the area.
“Some first years got a little too rowdy in the hallway – running around and not watching where they were going. I bumped into a suit of armour, but James healed it up.” Remus’ head snapped up to yours as Sirius’ gaze darkened.
“Prongs healed you? On your side? With your shirt up?” Sirius asked expressionlessly.
You rolled your eyes. “Oh, for goodness – yes! What’s the big deal?”
He continued his interrogation as if you hadn't said anything at all. “He saw your shirt pulled up like this? He touched you here?”
You sputtered, turning your attention to Remus. “He heals you every month!”
He grimaced in sympathy but clearly agreed with Sirius. “I guess...just seems a little...intimate.” He conceded.
“Well, do I have to get all worried about you guys on the full moons? Or that he gets to share a dorm room with you?” You asked sarcastically. Sirius smirked at you.
“Awe babes, you don’t have to be jealous – we’re all yours!” He said in a sultry tone as he moved to stand between your legs.
“You’re not funny.” You deadpanned.
“You should go to Madame Pomfrey, love.” Remus stated after completing whatever diagnostic inspection he was doing on your side.
“Wha- no! Rem, I’m fine. Nothing is broken, it’s not bleeding. I’ll ice it when I get back to my dorm tonight, but I’m supposed to meet the girls. Please don’t make a big deal of this.” You were embarrassed that you’d been reduced to begging, but you could not bail on Lily and Marlene again.
Remus grimaced. “Love, I’d feel better if you had it looked at...”
But Sirius Black – equally as likely to be your saviour and your damnation – opted to take pity on you. “Oh, come on Moons. We can fuss over her all night; let her spend time with the girls.”
Remus groaned and looked between the two of you before rolling his eyes in surrender. “Fine. But I will fuss over you tonight, got it?” He muttered sternly, but the love and affection that pooled in his eyes as he said it diminished his chiding greatly.
“Of course. I’d not have it any other way.” You sang back to him as he leaned in to press a kiss to your lips.
“Okay. Let’s get out of the girl’s loo.” Sirius said as he turned and bent down in front of you, still seated on the bathroom counter.
“What are you doing?” You asked incredulously. Sirius scoffed as if you were being intentionally difficult.
“Giving you a ride, obviously. Can’t let our poor injured dolly walk these corridors on her own.” He backed up further into you and tapped your thighs with his hands impatiently.
“I very well can, thank you very much. I’ll have you know that your poor injured dolly just outran her two boyfriends.” You scoffed indignantly.
“You know Moons, perhaps she should go to Madame Pomfrey after all.”
“Okay, okay!” You shrilled as you clamored up onto Sirius’ back.
Remus chuckled and pecked a sweet kiss to your temple – now almost at eye level with him as he placed a gentle hand on your back, protectively close to your sore ribs.
“Thank you for appeasing us, sweetheart.” He murmured into your hairline.
You feigned annoyance, but you’d do so happily for as long as these two men would let you.

as soon as regulus claims someone as a friend or partner - he is CUDDLY. he is such a cuddler. specifically with james. he needs constant physical assurance and contact. he loves james' hands because james has big hands and when they hold hands, james' completely engulf regulus' and it makes him a little dizzy to think about. he loves when they're standing anywhere and james puts both hands on his waist, rubbing circles on his hipbones. other times he will latch onto james' arm like a parasite and he will not let go. when they're home he often finds james lounging and will just. launch himself at him and cuddle up against his chest, on his back, against his side, limbs completely intertwined. when regulus has a bad day he comes home sniffly and demands james to lie on top of him like a weighted blanket. he loves latching onto james in their sleep, he does not allow two inches of space to come between them. he's always brushing his fingers through james' hair and he will always fall asleep during a movie if james touches his hair, runs gentle fingers across his cheeks, his back, or arms. when they sit on the couch he always tucks his feet underneath james' thigh to keep warm. james always thrives on giving regulus massages, and he melts every time, getting sleepy but flustered by james' touch. they're also mega annoying at parties because they get so handsy when they're drunk. as soon as regulus takes a sip of alcohol he's practically ripping james' clothes off, fussy and trying to touch every spare inch of him. they contrast well, too - james is a living, walking furnace and regulus is always very cold, grabbing at james to warm him up by wrapping his arms around him. regulus is so fussy about it, needy for any bit of touch james will offer him.

needle - @jegulus-microfic - word count: 170 - some sort of nonmagic au? idk
"James? Can- can you come and get me? Please?"
He would've known that voice anywhere.
Even though it had been weeks since Regulus had told him to go, since they'd argued over him going back to his parents' during break. Weeks since the shorter boy had insisted that he didn't need help. That he was fine. That he wanted to be left alone.
He'd never stopped hoping. Caring.
So when his phone rang at 2:18am and the only voice he wanted to hear came through the speaker, James had immediately sat up. Ran towards the door, shoes half-on. Sped towards Grimmauld Place, the needle of the speed gauge closing in on 150kmph.
But it was worth it. As he sped to a stop in front of the horrid-looking townhouse, the door flew open and a distraught Regulus tore up the path, throwing himself into James's awaiting arms.
"I've got you, love," James murmured into dark curls, allowing Regulus to sob into his arms. "You never have to go back."

@jegulus-microfic | green - april 20 | 497 words | tw: NSFW | @ecstarry
James is a fucking lucky guy, that's what he is.
He is looking at the mirror, all naked. His hair is messy, he has only his glasses on and he has bruises on him almost everywhere, his whole body covered with dark purple marks.
He doesn't hate it, not a single of them. Quite the opposite, he fucking adores it.
He doesn't have to look back, he can sense Regulus anywhere. He slowly walks behind him and puts his green tie around James’ neck and pulls him in.
“Regulus,” James sighs, noses brushing each other. Regulus smirks slowly, eyes on James’ lips.
“Wanna do it again,” he murmurs against his lips, “Wanna feel you again.”
James closes his eyes and grabs Regulus by his hips, they're soft and perky, biteable. James did more than biting them, but he isn't going to start bragging.
“Oh?” James mutters and Regulus pulls him again, firmer this time.
“You heard me, don't act like you didn’t.”
James kisses his bottom lip and slowly bites it. He breathes down and their naked bodies caress each other.
James can fucking kill for this man. He could go to war for this man. He would die for this man.
He grabs him by the nape of his neck and smashes their lips together. Regulus is surprised by the sudden action, almost falling but he can't, James is holding him like a lifeline.
Their tongues dance around each other, Regulus is still grabbing his tie around James’ neck, slowly pulling him to the bed while walking backwards until his calves hit the mattress behind him. James has no obligations, he is ready to go for another round. He just can't fucking get enough of Regulus. It's impossible.
He pushes him to the bed, hard. Regulus smiles into their kiss and pulls him again. With one of his hands, he takes off James’ glasses. There are barely two inches between them, he can see him just fine.
He travels his hand on Regulus’ body, they're roaming on him. James’ hands are big and strong. He puts his hand on Regulus’ cheek and bites his tongue, their hard cocks are touching each other, he pulls his legs apart and settles down in between. He wants to kiss and bite his legs until they're bleeding, but what he wants more is being inside of Regulus again.
Regulus bites his bottom lip and he feels his skin breaking, and it's totally okay. That's how they like it. He starts feeding on his blood while James’ hands are busy with prepping him. His hole is already stretched, accepting James’ big fingers inside easily, his breath hitches when James hits a spot inside. James chuckles into their kiss, and Regulus slaps the back of his shoulder, he doesn't react until his third finger adds in, and Regulus grips his shoulder hard. “James,” he breathes and kisses him again.
“James, James James.”
He kisses him back.
“Jamie.”
And the whole world stops.

@jegulus-microfic april 22nd | evoke | 87 words | really bringing the micro to microfic with some domestic bliss <3
One thing is for sure, James will do anything to evoke that one word from Regulus’ mouth. So soft and serene, a shared whisper between the two of them. And now, as they lay in bed, eyes laden with sleep, Regulus curls into James, tilting his head up to get a small glimpse of James’ features.
“Jamie,” Regulus breathes, voice heavy with exhaustion and warmth.
There it is.
“‘M right here, baby,” James whispers, pressing a kiss to the top of Regulus' head. “I’m not going anywhere.”

critical care, part 3 (part 1, part 2, part 4, part 5, part 6)
a Jegulus nurse!AU
The thing about calling a code blue was that it could quickly turn into social hour if you weren’t careful. Mates that you hadn’t seen in awhile came out of the woodwork from all over the hospital to get in on the action, leading to a sort of impromptu reunion over the patient you were working to snatch from the claws of death.
“Lily! Oh my god, I haven’t seen you in ages—“
“Dorcas! What unit are you on these days?”
“Oi, Barty, I thought they fired you!”
Like now, apparently, as every person James had ever fucking met decided to grab a front row seat to spectate as he tried to make small talk with Regulus Black.
“It was a lovely day yesterday,” James began when they’d finished delivering a second shock to their patient. “The sun was out. Do you get out much, Regulus?”
James could feel Sirius’s suspicious gaze as Regulus glanced incredulously away from the new rhythm tracing itself on the cardiac monitor.
Still v. fib.
“…No. Sirius locks me in my bedroom and just lets me out four days a week when it’s time for me to be here—what the fuck kind of question is that, Potter!?”
Bloody hell, but Dorcas had clearly lied to Marlene about Regulus’s personality.
Sweet, Dorcas had called him.
No. This was a feral devil cat with a mouth full of knives and Merlin save him but James was so fucking into it.
“I wouldn’t rule that out,” Barty Crouch Jr. butted in unnecessary, watching Regulus’s vitriol land with an entertained expression. “One time I asked Reg if he wanted to check out my new apartment and Black threatened to peel my face off and put it on the CPR mannequin. I still haven’t gotten a proper answer.”
“There’s no need for him to go anywhere with you unsupervised, Crouch,” Sirius scowled, turning up the energy level of the defibrillator for their next attempt. “Just describe it to him.”
“Describe it? Well, okay. Picture it, Reg. You and Evan, in my bed—“
“Stop messing with him, idiot,” Regulus rolled his eyes, finally shoving Crouch’s arm off his delicate shoulders as Sirius picked up a spare saline flush and squirted it right in the blond’s face. To Sirius, he added, “he’s just trying to get a rise out of you, you know.”
“I’m calling HR you fucking asshole!”
“Fine, if you want to play that game. I’m sure they’d love to hear about you taking it from Lupin in the supply room last month.”
“Reggie! You can’t say dirty things like that! I forbid it!”
“I say a lot worse under the right circumstances, Sirius.”
James felt a flash of lightning race down his spine as Regulus maintained unwavering eye contact with him as he said so, ignoring Sirius’s outraged sputtering.
“I told you not to let Sirius catch you looking at his baby brother,” Marlene pointed out in an undertone, sidling up to James in the already crowded room.
“He’s bloody perfect.” James replied, unrepentant. “I’m going to marry him.”
“Dorcas called him sweet. I’m not getting that vibe.”
“Maybe he just needs a little… persuading.”
Marlene rolled her eyes, opening the airway drawer of the crash cart at Dorcas’s behest. “He’s mean, James.”
“He’s pretty, Marlene.”
“…You aren’t going to see reason, are you?”
“Absolutely not. Regulus Black is going to have my children.”
She looked back at the petite man with obvious misgivings. “If he doesn’t kill you first.”
“He could carve his initials into me with a scalpel and I’d thank him.”
“…You’re fucking crazy.”

Tell me (1/1) (jegulus)
Regulus and James were somehow the only two left outside, staring at the field put behind the Potter's house. Silence surrounded them, after James had asked how Regulus was doing. He didn't mind, he was used to it. He would let Regulus stay silent, as he often did. Regulus never asked him to leave though, so he didn't. But then...
"Everything is the same..." his words gently breaking the silence between. Eyes still fixed over the horizon, Regulus wasn't sure where the words came from, how they found their way from his tongue out into the air. But he found that once they did, they couldn't stop.
"And yet it's all different. It's still distant and I still don't fit but it's home, I think."
James hung on his every word. Regulus had never spoken this much to him ever, no matter how much James talked to him. He didn't want spoil this, he wanted to be in the moment--listening, learning--but part of his heart was beating faster and faster as Regulus opened up to him.
Almost as if he knew James wanted more, Regulus kept talking. Whether for himself or for James' interest even Regulus couldn't tell: "It's strange knowing that I don't fit where I went, and I'll never fit where I'm from... Maybe I just haven't found my shape yet. Maybe I'm not meant to have any shape at all," Regulus trailed off.
Regulus' words were both a riddle and quite clear. James desparately wanted to ask more, to know, to fully grasp the depth of which Regulus was speaking from, but he knew that any questioning would further isolate Regulus, making him feel unknown, unheard, misunderstood.
James also didn't need to question, because he knew intimately what Regulus was saying. It was the not recognizing of self in the mirror, the always being told who you are and are supposed to be and where you are supposed to go; that forced unknowing of self. When Regulus finally made a choice to save himself, he didn't even know who he was saving.
Regulus finally turned his head to look at James. Regulus searched James whole body, every detail of his face, before he finally allowed their eyes to meet. When they did, however, it's like a lifetime had passed between them.
James opened his arms automatically, and Regulus looked in curiously. He worried his lip between his teeth, deciding, contemplating, calculating. Then, he stepped forwards.
James wrapped his arms around Regulus, and Regulus sunk into him. He let his cheek rest on James' chest, and let himself be held and protected.
"You fit right here, I don't know if that helps or not, but I know whatever shape you are, you'll fit here." James whispered into Regulus' hair.
Regulus didn't say anything, but James didn't expect him to. It was too much, all to much for him to share and bare all his emotions. For James to catch him and let himself be caught. For him to lean into comfort and protection he knows that if he accepted, he wouldn't be able to ever come back from losing it.

it's lily who finds him. he's lying on the topmost bench on the quidditch stands, drenched and on his back, eyes open and narrowed against the rain. he's crumpled that leather jacket he loves so much into a lamentable pillow.
"i don't need your pity party," he says when she reaches him. she almost doesn't hear over the downpour. she wouldn't have if she hadn't seen his lips move, if she didn't know his voice so much that she can pick it up from anywhere.
she rolls her eyes. "you need a fucking umbrella," she points out, casting a drying spell and then sitting on the space beside his head.
sirius glares at the overly bright yellow umbrella now blocking his current best friend: his stupid, unforgiving ocean of nimbus clouds. lily waits for the cutting remark, the blunt admonishment. it doesn't come. he just huffs, and then closes his eyes.
eventually, he says, "my god, i am a drama queen," the ice not quite melting, but noticeably chipping at the edges.
"yes, you are."
"my brother's a fucking death eater though. that's got to be worse, isn't it?"
"regulus is not a death eater."
he flinches at the name. "not yet. but like we all just fucking heard, he's clearly — "
"that's not your fault."
he clenches his jaw. "feels like it is."
"it's not."
"how do you deal with all that shit with your sister?"
lily keeps her eyes on the pitch, but the umbrella sags an inch. this. this is why she sought him after that whole regulus fiasco. because he gets it. maybe she needed the pity party. she says, "well, not by storming off to brood in the rain alone, for sure."
he opens his eyes to raise an eyebrow up at her. when she perfectly mirrors his expression as an answer, he breaks and laughs. "why're you even here," he asks irritably, but he's sitting up now, and he's slackened, and lily doesn't need to answer his question because they both know that he knows why she's here.
he pries the umbrella from her hand and holds it up for them because he's taller. more on her side than his, she notices, but that's because he's already mostly rained down on. when she puts her head on his shoulder, he says, "stupid. i'm wasting effort here holding this up for you and you get yourself soaked anyway."
"shut up."
"if you get sick, james will kill me."
"if i get sick, i'll kill you myself."
that makes him chuckle, at least.
they stay like that until the rain softens to a drizzle, neither of them saying anything. when the mist has thinned and all the greens start coming back through, lily straightens up. "sirius."
"what," he says, in that eternally irate, snobbish tone of his.
"you have more than one brother, you know that?"
sirius thinks, i've got three more, yeah. i do know that.
he also thinks, and an annoying sister, seems like. do you know that?
and: thanks for being here. i feel like i'm losing my head.
and: it's not my fault it's not my fault reg's an idiot and that's not my fucking fault.
he says, "your hair makes my neck itch."
lily laughs.
james, remus, and peter see that laugh. they don't hear it, being too far down, but james knows exactly what lily's laugh sounds like, that one and all the rest, so he, at least, might as well have heard it. he pockets the map and starts walking back inside to the changing rooms. remus and peter exchange a glance before following suit.
"we're leaving?" asks peter, craning his neck while he talks, reluctant to wrench his eyes off sirius and lily.
"yep," says james brightly. "kitchens. let's go."
"but there'll be dinner in the great hall now," says remus, checking his watch.
"those two won't be feeling like dinner in the great hall tonight," says james. "we have to get them the good stuff before they run out."
"but i'm hungry," says peter.
"we can eat there, we don't have to wait for them," says james. "come on."
he slings an arm each around them, and off they go to the kitchens, james smiling to himself all the way.

hello! would you maybe be willing to consider writing a kind of follow-up to the poly moonwater fics where reader is pregnant? maybe when she has the babies and everyone’s reactions?? ty for reading my request🙏
I love this little family so damn much 😭🫶
poly!moonwater x afab!reader who gives birth to their twins
CW: pregnancy, hormonal fits, brief discussion of Regulus' childhood, brief discussion of Remus' childhood, going into labour, portrayal of breastfeeding though nothing is described, Barty losing his fucking mind, Uncle Sirius for Best Uncle 2024, also the babies look like their daddies to avoid describing/labelling the mother's features
Remus felt for you. He really, really did.
But also, he was a little afraid of you.
Scratch that, he was very afraid of you.
But his sympathy for you ran deeper than his fear, which is how he found himself sitting in one of the (many) gliders Regulus has purchased for every room in your shared home as you fought to find a comfortable position in your bed.
And yes, your bed.
Because you had since kicked Remus and Regulus out of your shared bed.
And though they didn’t feel particularly bad about it, you claimed it was their fault.
You see, after a particularly worrisome fall - that took place  at six and a half months pregnant (with twins, no less) as you missed a step on your way up the stairs of your townhouse - unfortunately for you, and fortunately for Remus and Regulus, it happened in front of all of your friends one night when they were over for dinner, which resulted in a lot of fussing by James and Sirius, and caused Barty to go marching upstairs and begin moving all of your furniture and belongings into the spare room on the main floor.
“Like fuck my Treasure is navigating these stairs in her condition. The two of you are sodding useless; this should have been done months ago.” He spat venomously as Evan shouted at him that it was “not polite to reconfigure someone else's house without permission.”
You vehemently protested the move.
Regulus and Remus didn’t think it was such a bad idea.
Because of their ‘betrayal’ (read: their lack of support in your arguments against your most capricious friend devotee), the boys were not allowed in ‘your room’.
So, perhaps Remus was already pushing the limits by taking up residence in the glider as you tried and failed to find a comfortable position to read in, determined to take a nap.
“The babes giving you grief, dove?” He asked softly, earning him a derisive scoff from you.
“What do you think?” You spat.
Remus grimaced but decided to soldier on. “They may be ready to come any day now.”
That was the wrong thing to say if your quick glare was anything to go by.
“No they are not.”
“Dove,” he started, closing his own book and leaning forward, resting his elbows on his knees as he considered you. “Anywhere from 34 to 38 weeks is full term for twins. The fact you’ve made it to 35 is incredible, baby.”
Your lips pinched as your brows dipped, and Remus was sure you were close to tears. “No, I’m not ready, I-” you let out a breath as you cut yourself off, alerting Remus to the fact that you were about to give away the sex of (one of) the babies. “Baby B, they need more time.” You admitted, voice quieter as if you were afraid saying it any louder would somehow jinx it and trigger your own labour.
“They’re going to come when they’re ready.” He repeated.
He left the room after you threw your book at him.
He followed the sounds coming from the kitchen where he found Regulus on his hands and knees underneath the cabinets, of which he’d emptied of all their contents.
The second Regulus found out that the three of you were expecting twins, and due to the nature of the superfetation and thus the risks involved, he quit his job and strong-armed (read: lightly encouraged) Remus to do the same.
And while Remus focused on catering to you and ensuring you were comfortable (or…as comfortable as humanly possible when you had two little freaks using your organs as trampolines) and well fed, Regulus focused on…whatever this was.
“Reggie?”
“Mhm?” He responded quickly, voice muffled from where his head was still shoved deep within the lower cabinets.
“What are you doing?”
Regulus shifted and his head made a painful thump sound when it connected with the top of the cabinet before he pulled himself out of it.
“Cleaning.”
One of Remus' brows arched at that. “The lower cabinets?”
“Right.”
“Why?”
Regulus rubbed the back of his head as he looked between Remus and the mess he was currently surrounded by in the name of ‘cleaning’.
“Well…the babies-”
“Won’t be concerned with the lower cabinets.” Remus cut him off, looking down at his boyfriend lovingly.
Remus watched as Regulus took a deep breath and deflated significantly.
Remus pushed aside some large pots and various cleaning products as he joined Regulus on the floor and pulled him closer by the ankle.
“What’s going on inside that head of yours, love?” He asked him quietly, rubbing his thumb along his Achilles tendon as Regulus seemed to organise his thoughts.
“I don’t think I’m going to go back to work.” Regulus blurted finally.
Remus fought to school his expression as he tilted his head in consideration. “Ever?”
Regulus shook his head and rested his chin on his knees. “I don’t know. Maybe just part time or something…I just- I don’t…I don’t want to be like him.”
“Like who, sweetheart?”
“Like my father.” Regulus bit out, bitterness colouring his tone. “Avoiding my family and responsibilities by hiding at work. Coming home to find out the babies have done something wonderful and I missed it. I…I want to be here, and I’m afraid; I’m afraid I’ll be more like him than I mean to be.”
Remus smiled sadly at Regulus as he squeezed his ankle twice. “I already know you’ll be nothing like him, my star. Considering you’re so worried about it, I know you’ll be 100 times the father he was. But, I’ll be here to make sure that stays true, okay?”
Regulus’ eyes met Remus’, and he felt his heart squeeze at the redness rimming Regulus’ eyes as they turned glassy.
“I’ll take care of you - both of you; all of you. You’ll never have to want for anything, you know that right?” Regulus stated urgently.
Remus smiled softly at him as he nodded. “I know, love.”
“You could stay home indefinitely too, you know.” Regulus offered shyly.
Remus chuckled. “You just don’t want to have to face our little mama bear all by yourself.” He teased.
Regulus chuckled in response but his eyes morphed into a lovesick gaze as he stared unseeingly out the archway of the kitchen. “She’s just uncomfortable and stressed right now.”
“She’s gonna be such a good mum.” Remus agreed quickly.
“The best.”
“We’re so lucky.”
“Rem? Reg?” Your voice sounded from the hall before your form hobbled into the archway as you used the door frame for support.
“What’s the matter?” Regulus asked quickly, kicking his feet out and sending various pots toppling over on the tile floor.
Whatever you had been on your way to say seemed to be placed on the back burner as your brows pinched and your eyes darted across the chaos that was currently your kitchen.
“What were you doing in here?” You asked slightly breathlessly. Both Remus and Regulus stood sheepishly.
“Erm, uh….cleaning?” Regulus answered in the form of a question.
One of your brows raised as you continued scanning the mess. “You’re not very good at it.”
“What did you need, dove?” Remus asked gently.
Your face softened as you looked up at him worriedly.
“I think my water broke.”
You could have heard a pin drop in the messy kitchen as Remus and Regulus stood staring at you dumbfoundedly.
“You…” Regulus started before clearing his throat. “You think?”
You grimaced as you looked down to your stomach sheepishly. “No I…I’m quite sure. I think-” You paused to suck in a breath through your teeth. “I think it’s time.”
The breath that followed the end of your sentence bordered on a groan and the boys jumped to action.
“Okay, come here amour.” Regulus said gently as he supported you with one hand on your elbow and the other on your lower back and he guided you to a chair in the dining room. “Rem, can you grab the babies’ bags?”
“On it.” He answered quickly and went running to the nursery to grab two matching nappy bags. Merlin, babies come with a lot of stuff.
“Are you grabbing our bag?” Remus called to Regulus who was then running up the stairs to the ensuite bedroom.
“Oui! Amour’s bag is in her closet.”
“Got it!”
Regulus and Remus reconvened in the living room with four bags, two baby carriers, and enough panic to fill an olympic swimming pool.
“Okay, baby bags have nappies?” Regulus asked, reading off a list in his hands.
“Check.” Remus responded.
“Snappies?”
“Check.”
“Blankets?”
“Check.”
“Hats and booties?”
“Got it.”
“Okay. And who packed mama’s bag?”
“She did.”
Regulus let out a relieved sigh. “Okay, no need to check that one then.”
Remus offered him an unimpressed look as he re-zipped the babies’ bags and threw them over his shoulder.
“Okay, you grab the carriers and our bag, I’ll grab the rest.” Remus instructed, which Regulus complied as they stepped up to the floo.
“Alright, St. Mungo’s.” Remus said clearly as the flames surged green and the two men stepped through to the intake room of the magical hospital.
Both men were breathless as they nearly collided with the desk where an unimpressed mediwix looked them both up and down.
“We’re checking into the maternity ward; our partner has gone into labour.” Remus explained in an exhale.
The mediwix moved his gaze between both men, their stomachs, and the various belongings they were carrying.
“Right,” he drawled before his eyes returned to Remus’. “And, your partner?”
“Y/N L/N.” Regulus added quickly, causing the mediwix to move his judgmental stare to him.
“Right….and where is she?”
Both men spun to face each other in a mixture of horror and embarrassment.
Remus rounded the corner of the kitchen to find you sitting where Regulus had left you, one hand massaging a point of your stomach as you considered him with a look full of judgement and mirth.
“Where’s Reg?” You goaded as Remus helped you up from your chair and started making the slow trek back towards the floo flames; his face burning hot with shame that he was sure was spreading to the tips of his ears and well down his chest.
“He was too embarrassed.” He admitted quietly.
You sounded like you were getting ready to laugh when you doubled over and a pained whimper escaped your lips.
Remus quickly bent down so he had one hand on each of your arms, trying to help keep you upright.
“I’m sorry sweetheart, I’m sorry. We’re going to get you in a bed and feeling better, okay?”
You whimpered again and looked up at Remus sadly. “I’m sorry.” You cried quietly.
“Dove.” He admonished sadly. “What on earth are you sorry for?”
You took in two large breaths as you tried to breathe around the pain. “You have to do this every month.”
Remus wanted to cry. For you, or for himself, he wasn’t sure. He loved you so sodding much he couldn’t even tell what exactly it was about what you said that touched him so much.
“You’re so much stronger and braver than I am though, dovey. So if I can get through it, I know you can too, yeah?” He offered softly, pressing a kiss to your temple.
“I’m only brave because I learned it from you.” You gritted out through a sob.
“We can argue about this later, okay? Let’s get you checked in; I’m sure the mediwix is glaring daggers at Regulus for having abandoned his pregnant partner.”
He managed to coerce a small laugh out of you which he considered a win before you both stepped through the flames.
Remus didn’t grow up expecting much out of life.
Bitten at only four years old, he was certain something would go wrong with his little body during one of his transformations and he’d be dead long before he ever hit Hogwarts age.
He couldn’t attend muggle school growing up due to his affliction and the risk of performing accidental magic in front of muggles.
Though he was certain he was going to die before age 11, he was even more certain that should he make it to 11, he’d never be accepted into Hogwarts.
When he was accepted into Hogwarts, he was certain he’d never make any friends.
When he made friends, he was certain they’d hate him if they found out about his lycanthropy.
When his friends accepted him for his lycanthropy, well….he never imagined he’d be so lucky as to find a partner who was just as accepting.
Let alone two.
For as long as Remus Lupin could remember, he never imagined ever feeling as much love or as loved as he currently felt in this exact moment.
Not only did he have two people who he loved beyond measure, but those two people gifted him two of the most perfect, tiny little beings he could have never imagined possible.
And suddenly - sitting here in a hospital room with you resting in a bed with your eyes closed as Regulus wiped lovingly at your face with a damp cloth, with a tiny little black-haired baby swaddled to perfection fast asleep in a see-through bassinet on your other side, and with an even tinier fawn-haired baby snuggled perfectly into Remus’ bare chest - every single full moon was worth it.
Every broken bone, every scar, every ache and pain and sleepless night that brought him here was absolutely, without a doubt, worth it.
“Knock knock!” Remus could hear Lily murmur quietly yet brightly from behind the closed hospital door.
“That is so cringey, Red. Why wouldn’t you just knock?” Sirius muttered.
“Because!” She hissed back and he could hear what sounded like Sirius being swatted with her purse. “They could be sleeping! I don’t want to startle them with a loud knock.”
“Oh yeah, Rem and Reg are definitely gonna piss their pants at the sound of you knocking on the door. Shouldn’t mama be all drugged up right now anyway?”
You chuckled under your breath as you peeled open one of your eyes to look over at Remus who was looking at you with a matching smile as you listened to Sirius being walloped three more times.
“Okay, well, you guys settle this out here then.” James decided as he pushed the door open.
He smiled at you and Regulus before his eyes met Remus’ form in a glider as he was currently doing skin-to-skin with his miniature doppelganger.
James made a very embarrassing cooing sound (if you asked Remus) as he made his way into the room, tiptoeing like he was avoiding invisible trip wires.
Lily and Sirius stopped their scuffle as they followed James in, beaming widely at Remus.
“Oh my Godric, Moony.” Lily cooed, looking awfully close to tears as the nickname so unusual out of Lily’s mouth caused Remus’ eyes to well up similarly. “It’s you as a baby!”
“Who was right? Girl or boy?” Sirius asked quickly, daring to reach forward and lovingly stroke a finger along the downy soft skin on the baby’s cheek.
Remus snorted and Regulus groaned.
“Girl, Pads.”
“Yes!” Lily and Sirius cheered quietly as they gave each other double high fives, clearly over whatever tiff they were having in the hallway mere moments ago.
“Better luck next time, Reggie.” James called towards him, causing you to narrow your eyes dangerously at your friend.
“Wait.” James said as he caught sight of a little something in a bassinet behind Regulus. “WAIT.”
“What?” Sirius asked, craning his neck to see what James was looking at.
“No…” Lily breathed out disbelievingly.
“Twins?!” Sirius shrieked.
“What?” Regulus asked derisively, and Remus had to work really hard to keep his face neutral at that.
“Wha-” James started, violently whipping his head back and forth between the two infants in the room. “What do you mean, what!?”
“There’s two!” Sirius exclaimed.
Your mouth dropped open in ‘shock’ as you looked at Sirius aghast. “You see the other one too?”
The room fell painfully silent as James, Lily, and Sirius all looked bemusedly between the family of five before Remus couldn’t take it anymore and started giggling.
His daughter began to stir from the rumbling of his chest causing Regulus to scoff in faux admonishment.
“Would you knock that off, Remus; you’re going to give her shaken baby syndrome.” He muttered before he was gently prying the tiny infant from Remus’ chest and wrapping her up in a blanket before holding her close to his chest.
“Mama.” Lily breathed out. “Two!?”
“Two.” You confirmed. Remus delighted at the shy yet proud smile you adorned as you tucked your chin to your chest.
Throwing his jumper back on, he moved over to perch on the opposite side of your bed and pulled the little bassinet closer to the two of you.
“Are they both girls?” Lily asked.
“Yes.” Remus laughed, causing Sirius to cackle from where he stood looking over Regulus’ shoulder at one of his nieces.
“You were wrong twice little brother!”
“Sod off, Sirius.”
Sirius smacked Regulus up the back of the head. “You watch your mouth around my nieces, hellion.”
“Isn’t hellion a swear word?” James queried.
“It’s not a swear, it’s a noun.” Sirius explained.
“But then wouldn’t fuck be a verb?” Remus asked, causing the room to fall silent as everyone pondered that for a moment.
The silence didn’t last long as the sound of two heavy footfalls grew in volume before they stopped abruptly in front of the hospital room.
“Am I too late!?” Barty screeched (albeit quietly) into the room as he and Evan stood in the doorway catching their breaths.
“Too late for…what, Junior? What did you think was happening here?” James asked.
“Shut up.” Barty spat as he moved into the room, shoving past everyone to press kisses against your forehead.
“My beautiful, sweet Treasure. All this work for two tossers. We could still run away, yeah? You, me and the baby; just say the word.”
“Try babies, Junior.” Sirius taunted, causing Barty to straighten up so quickly he nearly collided with Lily as he turned to look at Sirius incredulously.
“What!?”
Sirius smirked as he pointed to the baby in Regulus’ arms as Barty moved to inspect the tawny-haired babe.
“A Lupin. That’s too bad.” Barty muttered quietly, causing Regulus to kick at his shin and you to shout a reproachful ‘Bartemus!”.
“And there.” Sirius continued, pointing to where Remus was picking up a black-haired babe from a clear bassinet to pass into your waiting arms.
“A Black!? Even worse!” Barty shrilled.
“Barty!” You chided again, though the smile playing at your lips severely diminished the severity of your tone.
“Oh, oh gods, oh my. I-”
Barty didn’t seem to know where to look; pained puffs of air leaving his lungs as he spun comedically on the spot, dividing his attention between you and the two baby girls.
“Rosier, your boyfriend’s about to combust.” Lily teased as she leaned back into James who quickly wrapped his arms around her and rested his chin on her head.
“Barty.” Evan tried, causing Barty to look at him in horror.
“There’s two!”
Even Evan seemed to find some humour in the state of his boyfriend as his lips quirked up into a smirk. “Yes, babe. I counted that many as well.”
“Two!?” He shouted again as he turned his sights on you.
“How’d….How’d you have two in there!?” He barked as he pointed accusatively at your stomach.
“Magic?” You asked shyly, looking down at your daughter who was beginning to fuss.
“Way to go, Junior. You’ve upset her.” Sirius grumbled.
“She’s hungry.” Remus corrected, stroking her dark hair before moving his hand to stroke yours in much the same way.
“Her?” Barty asked quietly, watching as you helped the infant latch.
“Two girls, Uncle Barty.” You offered quietly, smiling softly up at your fiercest friend.
“I’m a girl uncle.” He said in awe, moving his smile towards the baby in Regulus’ arms.
“What are their names?” James asked eagerly.
You looked shyly up at Remus who in turn fielded the question to Regulus.
“This here,” Regulus started, pausing to clear his throat as he looked down at his daughter. “Is Rome Valeria Lupin.”
Lily let out a breathy ‘awe’ as she touched her hand to her chest, and Remus pretended he didn’t notice Sirius wiping a tear from under his eye.
“Named after the Empire, just like her daddy.” James commented with a soft yet proud smirk.
“And that one there is Soleil Pax Lupin.”
Sirius’ gaze moved to the little head he could see nuzzling at her mother’s chest. “A Sunny little girl.” He whispered quietly.
“Pax, that means peace in Latin, yeah?” Evan commented, smirking as Barty scoffed at him.
“Of course it does, Evan. Everyone knows that.”
James’ eyebrows furrowed as he looked towards Remus. “I didn’t know that…” He admitted quietly.
“And Valeria means strength; Rome was a little younger than her sister, but she was a powerful little fighter.” Remus explained, pressing a kiss to the top of your head.
“They’re perfect, you guys. Just perfect.” Lily commented emphatically, earning nods in agreement from James, Sirius, and Evan.
“With no help from these wankers, surely. You did a great job, Treasure. They may have lost the lottery in terms of fathers but these girls couldn’t have asked for a better mum.”
And though Regulus rolled his eyes with an annoyed shake of his head, no one bothered to argue.
These two girls really lucked out when it came to their mummy.
“Oh gods.” Barty whispered as he stood hastily.
“What?” Regulus asked cautiously.
“Oh gods.” He shrieked, turning a withering glare towards his friend. “You sods should have told me!”
Remus helped you right your robe as you pulled Soleil away from you and began patting gently at her back. “We thought it would be a funny surprise.” He explained.
Barty scoffed derisively and turned his ire onto him.
“Well ha ha, very funny.” He deadpanned. “I’ve only bought one of everything!”
Regulus waved him off after he passed Rome to his brother’s eagerly awaiting arms. “That’s fine, Barty.”
“No! It's not fine, Barty!” Barty volleyed back. “Evan, let’s go.” He ordered as he bent to press another kiss to your head, kissed his hand and gently pressed it to Soleil’s shoulder and did the same to Rome (much to Sirius’ chagrin).
“Where?”
“Shopping! I need to go back and buy another of everything that we’ve bought!”
“Over the past seven months!?” Evan asked incredulously.
“Yes!”
Remus could hear them arguing all the way to the floo flames.
Lily offered to take Soleil from you to finish burping the baby as the room fell into a comfortable silence.
“So, when can we start trying again?” Regulus asked, causing Remus to grimace and you to level him with a look that would send a lesser man straight to his grave.
“Okay,” Regulus acquiesced. “We’ll talk more next week.”
Sirius laughed as he looked down at the babe in his arms.
“Sounds like your papa’s going to be sleeping on Uncle Siri’s couch, Roro.” He cooed.
From the look on your face, Remus was sure Sirius was quite right.
A/N: thanks to some of the ideas that were sent to me from anon's, like the idea that they rushed to the hospital and forgot reader at the house 🤣

"James, you need to stay home." Regulus stated, his voice stern.
"No, no, I'm fine, Reggie, I can't miss work, I-" James broke off as he nearly wiped out trying to get out of bed, clutching his head ruefully and his husband for dear life.
"See, you can't even stand up. You're not going anywhere." Regulus ordered, pushing the stubborn man back down onto their bed.
"But—"
"James Potter I swear if I have to ward you into this house, I will." Regulus warned, and James shut his mouth, settling back against the pillows.
"That’s better. I'm going to make you some tea. And if you even try to move out of that bed I won’t fuck you for a week." Regulus threatened.
“Like you could hold out that long.” James scoffed, and Regulus narrowed his eyes.
“Do you really doubt me, Potter?” Regulus asked, voice steady.
“Er— kinda?” James replied, but he grew more unsure, survival instincts finally kicking in.
“Do you really want to test the limits I’ll go to in order to prove a point?” Regulus questioned, one eyebrow raised in a perfect arch. James sucked in his lips.
“No, no I do not. I’ll stay right here, don’t you worry.” James answered this time, patting the bed and settling in further to show Regulus he meant it.
“Good boy.” Regulus praised, and James shivered. Regulus smiled, pleased, and went to fetch his lovely idiot of a husband some tea.
