laios is the one who had the closest to the original mental image of his companions. he doesn't have any racial prejudice or some sort of expectation. he sees them as it is

like the only thing he got wrong are some minor details in equipment or hairstyle

he is also the only one who doesn't see chilchuck as a kid

it is just an interesting choice to have eddies grandma of all people go to the wedding with him and chris instead of eddies current love interest. If they really cared about us getting to know her and her being a part of the firefam they could have had her at the hospital interacting with other beloved characters or even going along with eddie to help look for chim. They've kept her so separate so far and its such a choice that it lets us know she clearly wont be around for long. At this point she's basically a glorified babysitter like the rest of his gfs. To me, she clearly has to be there for a bigger reason. Like helping with eddies queer awakening in some aspect. We already got the start of the catholic guilt arc, maybe some more stuff is to come that helps him realize some things. I'm not sure why else they are keeping her around so long just to babysit chris sometimes lol.
