I absolutely love how the alleged Virgin Birth of Anakin Skywalker is (at least in film) never elaborated on at all ever. We don’t know how it happened. Nobody in universe knows how it happened. It just did. 12 year old Anakin asks Obi-Wan where babies come from and Obi-Wan explains as delicately as he can, then adds “Not you though.” Darth Vader’s fun fact about himself at Imperial getting to know you activities is that he just spawned one day. Luke and Leia aren’t even phased when they learn this because their dad was Weird Enough already.

Maybe I'm just really tired by everything tonight but Lex's dead-end life is so important to me. No high school diploma but instead a criminal record before she turns twenty, a shitty minimum wage job with no health insurance that is just enough of a sinkhole to keep her from escaping, and a broke-ass apartment that's barely an improvement over her mother's broke-ass trailer. Her existence feels painfully small, limited, and doomed, and any parts that aren't are all about Hannah, not Lex herself. It's like, the whole world insists that Lex go nowhere fast.

And yet she is the only one we know of to twice get the better of a Lord in Black.

It's like... all of your power, all that potential and skill and gift, cannot alone save you from the giant circumstances of your life. And yet you still have it somewhere inside. And in the end it will have meant something.

I think one of my favorite parts about the Lunar Chronicles is how Carswell Thorne was minding his own damn business and then suddenly he’s part of this rebellion against the fucking moon. He didn’t really have a reason to be part of it, not like the others did.

For comparison, Cinder is the missing Lunar princess Selene, so duh she’d be involved, it’s up to her to stop her crazy aunt. Kai is a whole emperor of a country and is the one being very pressured by Levana into marrying her. Scarlet was also kinda minding her business but then the police didn’t do their job so she got swept up in the wolf army and that’s pretty reason enough (also her grandma died at the hands of the wolf army). Ze’ev is a rogue wolf soldier who wanted to make his own decisions and a life for himself. Cress was Levana’s best hacker and a witness/victim to the systemic mistreatment of shells like herself. Winter, being the Queen’s stepdaughter and one of the first and closest victims to Levana’s cruelty, had every reason to turn on her stepmother but she would never turn her back on her people, especially the servants and other lower-class citizens who saw her and her refusal to bow to Levana’s demands/use her Lunar gift at all as an act of rebellion itself. And Jacin had been silently rebelling against Levana since he was 15; he is Winter’s closest (and only, it seems) friend on Luna, so he too was witness to many of Levana’s atrocities, along with the atrocities of the thaumaturges he assisted.

But Thorne? He’s a petty criminal. He organized a prison riot over fucking soap. He has no personal connection to a rebellion. He joined cause he wanted to cause chaos. And I respect that.

i was rewatching buck begins (as one does) and when they show his postcard at the construction side with the bright orange and yellow vest and the helmet in hand and all, i had this vision.

hear me out!!!

he met eddie after a minor accident at work where he ended upbat the ER where this really nice and hot doctor (eddie) treated him and buck flirted with him the entire time, giggling and blushing and making his injury seem worse than it was just to buy some more time with the guy. it was so blatantly obvious, and eddie never fell for it, but he played along anyway because he usually never pays attention to anyone or anything other than work and chris. but! this stranger is funny and nice, and the curly hair sticking to his forehead is just begging for eddie to run his fingers through it, and his smile is contagious and those dimples should be illegal actually.

fast forward to a couple of months later— they've been dating for a while. buck's construction crew teases him endlessly and relentlessly about eddie and chris but buck takes it gladly and proudly because this is the best relationship he's ever had and it's the first time where he's all in, body and soul. honestly? buck loves the teasing from his coworkers. he loves getting to talk about his boyfriend and his adorable, amazing, incredible son who has buck wrapped around his finger (in just a month, buck's already built an adaptive skateboard, a book shelf and fixed a desk for the kid)

he especially loves when eddie surprises him every now and then with lunch that they eat in buck's jeep. its a little uncomfortable, and then he has to clean up the crumbs later but it's so totally worth it when he gets to spend fifteen, twenty minutes with eddie talking about their days, making jokes and giggling like dumb teenagers in love sneaking around instead of the grown ass men they really are. (he is especially fond of the moments where eddie gets this loving, amused expression on his face as he reaches over and wipes some mustard from the corner of buck's lip with his thumb. the gesture feels so soft and intimate and buck gets all fuzzy and warm inside everytime.)

and eddie always gets the best food too! and it makes buck feel loved and cared for. and maybe the construction job is not his purpose in life and he doesn't quite know yet what he wants for his future. but he is certain he wants eddie and chris in it. and that's enough for now <3
