Sergle I have cuticle questions!! I got my nails done last week and the technician trimmed them (after putting oil on them). But two of them tore back to the skin, and the skin on all of them has been peeling back more than usual since then. How do I tend to my cuticles without the peeling and splitting??
HM okay so I'm not a nail technician and I can't say For Sure why your cuticles are peeling and splitting. But not everyone's cuticles take well to being nipped, that's why ppl generally recommend pushing them back or using cuticle dissolvant on them before trying to cut them- I'd recommend trying that route! not every nail tech is going to be Gentle w your cuticles, but if you use cuticle oil / moisturizer at home and you gently push them back on a fairly regular basis, the shreddiness should heal and you can still keep them from growing down the nail plate.

🥀💖 Erica's Love Oil 💖🥀
this love oil is perfect for love workings, offerings to love deities, or if you're into it...sex magick.
**disclaimer** this is a completely self-researched and self-tested herbal oil. please, do your research, do a test patch on your own skin, and talk with a doctor or medical professional if you are concerned in any way. Not intended for ingestion or internal use. Legally, I cannot be held liable for anything that happens while using this oil. Do not repost text or photos without credit or permission.
I am known to have sensitive skin. DM for sources - there's a lot I don't want to link them all.
This oil was very much made as a desire for a lovely smelling, aphrodisiac oil to be used in love workings and sex magic and possibly, if I could research something well enough...used carefully during intimate times.
If that's not something you're into, then don't use it for those purposes. Since, I've used it to anointing love candles, and honestly for aromatherapy, and for general self-care - mundane or magickal.
🥀💖 Ingredients 💖🥀
Grapeseed oil - carrier oil to dilute ingredients. Known to be safe around the genitals, high in vitamin E, comedogenic rating of 1, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, treats acne and makes skin softer. Ruled by the moon, water - deals with fertility, money, money, romantic love, passion, prosperity
Goldenrod - mine was foraged around my home this pre-autumnal season Supports kidney and urinary health and has been used to treat UTI's. Supports proper blood flow - helping promote intimacy's and supporting the libido. Said to be particularly powerful for men *cough* called golden rod for a reason *cough* Ruled by Venus and air - releases emotional blocks (helping further promote intimacy), divination, love, prosperity, "sealing the deal" in love workings
Hibiscus - I used a tea packet Not for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Exfoliating, hence, not for everyday use. Has been tested to fight infections including UTI's, can lower blood sugar and blood pressure, and one study saw it increase sexual activity in male rats. Fights aging, evens tone, hydrates and moisturizes skin, speeds up wound healing. Ruled by Venus, water, and associated with Aphrodite - passion, love, lust, freedom, prophetic and lucid dreams, beauty, courage watch for side effects such as headache, stomach issues, nausea, as it can lower blood sugar when taken internally. Not what this oil is for, but still something to watch for.
🥀💖 Method 💖🥀
Make sure herbs are dry before using in oil - you don't want your oil to go rancid. Add herbs and oil to container of choice, make sure its air tight. Let steep for as long as you'd like, but the longer, the better. You can strain the herbs if you'd like, but I like the way they look.
Charge however you'd like. Meditate on purpose during creation and after.
please, please, please - DO A PATCH TEST! what works for my skin may not work for yours. I did a couple - one on my inner arm, and one on my inner thigh.
Tumblr media
🥀💖 Notes 💖🥀
Tbh, I used Teva's Hibiscus tea blend because I was impatient and didn't want to wait to buy hibiscus. I double checked all ingredients to make sure they were skin safe - all were - with the note that cinnamon and citric acid can be an irritant when used in high concentration or everyday use.
I did a patch test on my skin, as well as only made a small batch at first. I have had no issues with burning, bumps, or other irritation.
It is of course recommended to uh, not do that, in future batches.

My nail polish is FINALLY here so have some Steve feelin’ himself ~
• • •
Billy first noticed something was up when Steve’s nails were shiny. Like a bird or a cat, Billy just kept catching a weird glint bouncing off of Steve’s fingernails.
It wasn’t that irregular for guys to use their mom’s cuticle oil. Especially after a bruised nail bed turned into a cracked nail and then Peter McMilson was wearing his sister’s vitamin-E polish for a month.
But then Steve was putting a condom on his fingers before fingering Billy, and the latter might’ve snapped a little. “The hell are you wasting a condom for?”
“I don’t want my polish to flake off in your ass.”
Well. There was Billy’s confirmation. Weirdly considerate but also, what the hell?
Steve could read Billy’s emotions like a book and the polish moved to his feet. Maybe it was the discrete location, or Steve’s newfound interest skyrocketing, but the polish went from clear to red.
Red with sparkles that glinted like fire embers.
Some kind of dark color that Billy couldn’t tell if it was red or brown.
Golden, summer yellow.
Dark, dusky blue shimmer that was blue on one side, and then sparked magenta in different light.
Billy never particularly noticed Steve’s feet outside of the general observation of him wearing socks or going barefoot. But now he felt ridiculous, constantly narrowing in on those spots of color. Wondering what he had on inside his shoes. Even absentmindedly grabbing his hand to look at it, and finding nothing, met Steve’s puzzle yet amused smirk.
Billy might’ve made some snide remarks at first, but...really, what’s the harm in a stupid, glorified paint? They were already fucking to the point that Billy had filled the guest bedroom’s dresser with his clothes. It’s not like a polish could make them more gay than they already were.
Yet, it felt like some sort of...vulnerable victory when Billy got to see Steve actually paint his nails for the first time. It felt like something Billy wasn’t - shouldn’t - be watching, like instead of fisting gloves and cock rings, this was the fetish material he’d been warned of by petrified Catholics.
And then Steve finished painting his fingernails, and became as uncoordinated as a cat with gloves on. He stared at Billy like a helpless owl, waving his hands to dry them faster. “Could you open my soda for me?”
Billy opened it and then gulped down half of it as payment.
Maybe it was a reward for not messing up Steve’s paint jobs as often as he could have that when, during a lazy evening spent inside, Billy let Steve take his hand. Really, he just thought Steve wanted to hold his hand. Steve was touchy, to the point that Billy had even dropped his hand on Steve’s lap just to give him something to hold on to.
But then he felt something cold on his fingertips, and realized Steve had three fingers out of five done.
“Careful,” Steve warned when Billy flexed his fingers to see what Steve had done to him...
Black. Just black.
“Huh,” he said distantly, not sure whether he disliked it or not.
His indecision allowed Steve to finish the hand. Billy didn’t give him the other hand and Steve didn’t ask for it.
The next day, he decided that he rather liked it. The black polish felt like war paint, and he listened to plenty of musicians who frequented black polish, so whatever.
Problematic situations arrived in two forms: if both Steve and Billy were wearing nail polish then they had to use condoms, and Billy wouldn’t wear polish unless Steve did his nails. Which meant Billy got bossy.
“The black under that green sparkly topper. Where is it? You don’t organize these?”
Steve gaped at him. “Who the hell are you and where is my boyfriend?”

Living Well With The Proper Use Of Vitamins And Minerals
Vitamin and mineral use is a way to feel better quickly. These supplements are necessary as we just don't get enough of certain nutrients through diet alone. Whether you need vitamin D over the winter or vitamin C during a cold, the tips and tricks below will help you figure it all out.
Many people end up with aching bodies without realizing why they ache. Try taking some new vitamins and minerals before going to the doctor at the first sign of pain. Both fish oil and vitamin E help lubricate your joints and muscles.
Never ignore the product warnings on vitamin levels. Vitamin and supplements can have serious side effects when taken with prescription and over the counter medicines. Ginseng can be very dangerous if you have high blood pressure or take heart medications. Lycopene can be deadly if you have a tomato allergy. Always read the warning labels or ask your pharmacist or doctor before taking any vitamins or supplements.
There are a lot of benefits for men to take vitamin E, but women need it as well. Vitamin E has anti-aging benefits and will help battle cell damage that is related to aging. Vitamin E also can prevent cataracts and heart disease. Almonds, hazelnuts, spinach and sunflower seeds are all rich in Vitamin E.
It's true that your body requires fruits and veggies for their nutrients; however, know that fresh products are much better than those that are canned. Though you want to eat a healthy diet, you should also consider taking a quality multivitamin and/or mineral supplements to enhance your diet.
Two of the best sources for vitamin D are exposure to the sun and milk. If you are not a big milk drinker or do not spend a lot of time in the sun, you should take a supplement with vitamin D. Vitamin D protects your bones and keeps them from becoming brittle.
This article gave some great advice about vitamins and minerals. Reading this is a good way to start on that journey. Now, you just need to go put what you have learned to work. Get on it!

15 Things You've Never Known About Liquid CBD
How to Choose a High-Quality CBD Product CBD can be consumed in capsules, edibles sprays and tinctures. However, oral consumption can be inconsistent and difficult to quantify because of slow absorption, stomach acids and other factors. Research suggests that CBD could be a solution to neuropathic pain. It can also improve sleep and prolong time for patients suffering from cancers of the type known as the glioblastoma. It's secure CBD, or cannabidiol is a non-psychoactive substance found in hemp and cannabis plants. It does not cause a high or intoxication, but it can be used to treat anxiety, seizures and pain, as well as other medical ailments. It can also reduce the symptoms of mood disorders like schizophrenia and depression. However, more research is needed to confirm its effectiveness. Researchers from Virginia Commonwealth University tested nine CBD E-liquids that are currently available. All nine samples included CBD. However four of them contained a synthetic cannabinoid called 5-fluoro MDMBPINACA (5F ADB) which was not advertised. One sample was contaminated by dextromethorphan (commonly used in cough medicine). The researchers of the study suggest that people who use vape CBD make sure to use reputable brands, and that they ensure that CBD is free of toxins like formaldehyde and vitamin E. Vaping CBD may be safer than smoking, but experts aren't sure about its long-term effects. Some have reported that it causes lung issues, but it's safer than smoking cigarettes which causes death to 40,000 people in the US every year. The CDC warns people to avoid smoking e-cigarettes if they suffer from asthma or other respiratory illnesses. CBD is, in addition to its anti-inflammatory qualities, may relieve chronic pain that is caused by rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia and other autoimmune disorders. CBD can also help reduce the effects of nerve pain caused by chemotherapy. The benefits of CBD were confirmed in a small 2019 study but more research is needed to determine its effectiveness in a variety of other conditions. CBD is safe if taken in the recommended dosages. However, it may interfere negatively with certain medications. For instance, it may increase the levels of serotonin within the body, so it is recommended to avoid it for those taking selective serotonin-reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as Zoloft. It can cause drowsiness when combined together with other medications that can make you sleepy, like certain antidepressants and benzodiazepine-based serotonin sedatives such as Klonopin, Ativan, and Valium. It can also reduce the effect of drugs that suppress the immune system, such as cyclosporine and can increase the adverse effects of morphine, which is a opioid. It's legal CBD's legality is contingent on its use. If you're using it as an alternative to medication, you'll require a prescription from your doctor before you can purchase CBD. But if you're simply interested in its recreational benefits, it may be easier to get access to CBD products at local stores. It is recommended to select a CBD product that comes with a certificate of analysis (COA) from an independent lab. The COA should also contain the batch number as well as testing methods. This information should be easily accessible on the label or in the packaging. The state of New Jersey has a medical cannabis and industrial hemp program, but its CBD laws aren't as specific. CBD oil is available for sale in the state, but it must be tested for THC levels before it's sold. Other CBD products like flowers and resins are prohibited in the state. This is due to the fact that they are a collectible and not a medication. However the state of New York has more relaxed regulations for CBD. In 2021, it became legal for adults to use CBD when the product contains a THC concentration lower than 0.2 percent and no unsubstantiated health claims are made. The CBD products must also be tested for safety and quality.
Tumblr media
CBD products can be consumed in different ways, but capsules and oils are the most convenient and effective. They can be consumed in a pill or dropped under the tongue to be quickly absorbed into the bloodstream, where they begin to work within minutes. It is recommended to take CBD in small doses because larger quantities can trigger adverse effects such as nausea and dizziness. CBD is legal for most of the United States. However, it is important to know the rules of each state that govern CBD. In most instances, federal laws will prevail over state laws if they are in conflict. This is particularly true in cases involving interstate commerce. There are a few exceptions to the rule. If the state has a pilot program for industrial hemp the laws that govern that program will override any federal law applicable to the particular state. It's affordable If you're thinking of purchasing the highest-quality CBD product There are a variety of options available. Numerous premium brands offer bulk discounts as well as special rewards programs which can help you save money on your purchase. This lets you test various products to determine which one is best for your requirements. The price of CBD oils differs from brand to brand, however, the typical price is between 7-18 cents per milligram of CBD. The lower end is due to branding costs, whereas the higher-end products cost more because they are made with top ingredients and undergo rigorous third-party tests. Some companies provide COAs for all their products. This is an excellent method to determine the exact amount of CBD in every product. This is a good sign that it demonstrates that the company is committed to transparency and quality. It also shows that the company is confident in its products and that they're safe for consumers. Vaping CBD liquids is popular among electronic cigarettes and pod systems. They are less expensive than CBD capsules of oil which can be expensive. However there are some aspects to take into account when choosing an e-liquid. The power level of your e-cigarette as well as the size of your coil should be considered prior to making a purchase. We recommend a vaporizer coil of about 1 ohm for best results. Crescent Canna has a variety of CBD-infused items ranging from tinctures, capsules, and vape juices. The high-potency CBD products are available in many flavors and contain a full spectrum cannabinoids. The company puts a high importance on quality control by sourcing hemp from trusted farmers and using rigorous extraction processes. They also provide specific information regarding their sources, third-party laboratory testing, and other aspects of their production processes. cbdMD offers a line of with high-potency CBD oil tinctures. These tinctures are formulated with the highest concentration of CBD to ensure the highest results. The tinctures are organic Colorado hemp and are subjected third-party testing. They are also certified by the U.S. Hemp Authority and contain natural, lemon, and mint chocolate flavors. It's practical A CBD vape is a well-known way to consume the drug, since it has been proven to provide the fastest bioavailability into your bloodstream. The process can also help reduce the amount of harmful toxins that are present in your body, in addition to being discrete and simple to use in public. This method has been acknowledged for its effectiveness in treating anxiety and pain as well as stress. cbd e liquid uk aren't restricted to these ailments. It can be utilized as an anti-inflammatory or to treat depression. CBD's active constituents are able to bind to receptors within the brain and nervous system. These receptors are involved in a number of processes like memory, mood and immune response. CBD regulates these receptors, assisting with many ailments, from reducing PTSD symptoms to alleviating arthritis. Even chronic insomnia has been reduced by CBD. CBD is known to increase the levels of endocannabinoids that naturally occur which regulate various functions within the human body, such as appetite, memory, and sleep. CBD may also interact with other receptors, like serotonin and opioid receptors to produce additional effects. It is therefore believed that CBD can act as an effective supplement to current medical treatments like antidepressants for those suffering from PTSD, schizophrenia, and non-motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease (Larsen and Shahinas 2020). There are several ways to take CBD however the most convenient method is using a disposable vape. These are small, colorful devices that are pre-charged and pre-filled with CBD liquid. They can be easily stored in your bag or pocket, and are great for people who are new to vaping since they don't require any additional equipment. You can also buy CBD products, such as balms and lotions that apply to your skin. It is important to note that these products for the skin will likely be absorbed below the skin, and it is difficult to determine if the positive effects are due to the CBD or to other ingredients like menthol or capsaicin. Ingestion of CBD will deliver it to your digestive system. This will provide a longer-lasting and consistent degree of relief over the course of time.

Five Shocking Home Treatments for Acne You’ve got a sizzling date lined up, maybe with a couple’s chocolate wrap? You’re eager and prepared to leave when you peek in the mirror and discover an obtrusively large pimple on your face. It would be natural to pop it, but don’t! It will just allow additional germs to enter, worsen the condition’s appearance, and, even worse, leave an acne scar. Here are your options.

Before applying honey to the zit with a clean q-tip, remove all makeup and/or concealer. Wait 20 minutes, and then

Which type of olives help you if you have low HDL, black pitted or green pitted?
Tumblr media
In the quest for better health and well-being, the choices we make regarding our diet can play a pivotal role. One such choice revolves around the consumption of olives, particularly black-pitted and green-pitted olives. Many individuals are concerned about their HDL (High-Density Lipoprotein) levels and are eager to know which type of olives can have a positive impact. In this article, we will delve into the world of olives and their effects on low HDL.
Understanding HDL Cholesterol
Before we dive into the specifics of black-pitted and green-pitted olives, it's essential to understand HDL cholesterol. HDL is often referred to as "good" cholesterol because it plays a critical role in removing excess cholesterol from the bloodstream. This process helps reduce the risk of heart disease, making it a vital component of overall health.
The Benefits of Olives
Both black pitted and green pitted olives offer a range of health benefits. These include:
1. Heart Health
Olives are known for their heart-healthy monounsaturated fats. These healthy fats can help improve your cholesterol profile by raising HDL levels and lowering LDL (Low-Density Lipoprotein) levels, which is often referred to as "bad" cholesterol. This makes olives a valuable addition to your diet, especially if you have low HDL.
2. Rich in Antioxidants
Olives are packed with antioxidants, such as vitamin E, which can help combat the harmful effects of free radicals in your body. This antioxidant-rich nature can further contribute to overall cardiovascular health.
3. Reduced Inflammation
The compounds found in olives have anti-inflammatory properties that may benefit individuals with low HDL levels. Reducing inflammation in the body is crucial for heart health, and olives can aid in achieving this.
Black Pitted Olives vs. Green Pitted Olives
Now, let's compare the two types of olives to determine which one might be more beneficial for those with low HDL levels.
Black Pitted Olives
Black pitted olives are known for their intense, rich flavor. They are slightly riper than green olives and are often found in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisines. Here's how they can help:
Rich in Monounsaturated Fats: Just like green olives, black pitted olives are packed with heart-healthy monounsaturated fats. These fats can help elevate HDL levels, promoting better cholesterol balance.
Antioxidant Content: Black olives also contain antioxidants, which can further aid in reducing inflammation and supporting heart health.
Green Pitted Olives
Green pitted olives, on the other hand, have a milder taste and are typically harvested before they fully ripen. Here's how they can contribute to improving low HDL:
Lower Sodium Content: Green olives tend to have lower sodium content compared to black olives, making them a good choice for those watching their salt intake. High sodium levels can contribute to high blood pressure, so opting for lower-sodium olives is a smart choice for heart health.
Fiber Content: Green olives are also a good source of dietary fiber, which can help in managing cholesterol levels. Fiber binds to cholesterol in the digestive system, preventing its absorption into the bloodstream.
Incorporating Olives into Your Diet
To harness the benefits of olives for improving low HDL, consider these tips:
Snacking: Olives can be a great addition to your snack repertoire. A small serving of olives can help curb your hunger while providing heart-healthy nutrients.
Salads: Add olives to your salads for a burst of flavor and nutrition. The combination of olives with fresh vegetables can make for a delicious and healthy dish.
Cooking: Olives can be used in various recipes, such as Mediterranean-style chicken dishes, pasta, or even homemade olive tapenade.
Olive Oil: Don't forget olive oil, which is derived from olives and is renowned for its health benefits. You can use it for cooking or drizzle it over your dishes for added flavor.
Conclusion
In the quest to improve low HDL, both black pitted and green pitted olives offer valuable contributions. Their monounsaturated fats, antioxidants, and other nutrients make them worthy additions to your diet. While both types have their merits, the choice ultimately depends on your personal preferences and dietary requirements.
Incorporating olives into your daily meals can be a delicious and heart-healthy choice. Remember, it's not just about whether black or green olives are better; it's about enjoying a balanced and varied diet that supports your overall health.
So, if you're looking to elevate your HDL levels, consider including olives in your diet, and remember that a healthy lifestyle is the key to a healthier heart.

i have the same issue. my hands have always been dry and since the pandemic they'll peel and i'll get actual cuts from the skin being so tight. what i do is i'll apply a heavy moisturizer (i use cicaplast. i'm trying to find a vegan alternative too, sorry...) before leaving my house and avoid washing and using sanitizer unless i eat something or use the bathroom (or if they get visibly dirty ofc). when i get home i wash my hands like normal and sanitize my phone (better than sanitizing hands each time you touch it) and then moisturize again. remember that if you're not touching your face or playing with kids or anything it should be safe!
if i have time to spare i'll massage vitamin E oil (you can use jojoba or rosehip instead or even mix them) and leave it on for a while. i do this a few times a week, and it helps with dry spots and healing said cuts i usually get. i only wash with cold water and always moisturize after leaving the shower cause i feel the hot water is really drying. during the day i use a lighter moisturizer anytime i can (for this i use cerave, which again is not vegan, but i really hate that film that most hand creams leave on your skin and cerave is the only one that gets fully absorbed and doesn't bother me. i heard ceramdx is a great cf alternative but i haven't had the chance to try it yet) and before going to bed i apply cicaplast again with a little bit of oil mixed in
so sorry i don't have better product recommendations, cause i feel like finding the perfect combination of moisturizers is the most important part... i'm plant based and try really hard to use cf products, but these have worked the best for avoiding cuts and stuff so i treat it like i do medicine. i'd say just use the heaviest one you can find and another one that feels comfortable to apply multiple times a day, it doesn't have to be miraculous. also for soap i feel like it doesn't matter much, but definitely try to go for those artisanal ones with oils in them if you can. it's not a big difference but i do notice it. i get them at the farmer's market sometimes
hope that's helpful! :)

Combine Supplements To Get The Best Health Benefits
Tumblr media
Many people choose to take one supplement to treat an issue with their health. But research indicates that mixing certain supplements can result in synergistic effects, meaning that the combination of different supplements can produce a greater effect than each supplement alone. In this article, we will explore the advantages of mixing supplements for the best well-being.
Synergistic effects
The combination of supplements may result in synergistic effects. As an example, vitamin D as well as calcium can be combined to support the health of bones. Calcium can help increase vitamin D absorption, while vitamin D helps in absorption of calcium. They have a greater impact when consumed together, than if they were each taken in isolation.
Combining omega-3 fatty acid and vitamin E have the same positive synergistic effect on inflammation. Vitamin E and omega-3 fatty acid provide anti-inflammatory benefits. Oxidative stress can be a major contributor to inflammation.
In the end, mixing probiotics with prebiotics could result in an effect synergistic to digestive health. Prebiotics, which are fibers that are not digestible by humans, but that nourish the healthy bacteria found within our digestive tracts and are also known as probiotics. They can improve digestion and functioning of the immune system when taken in combination.
Combine supplements for certain health problems
In addition to producing a synergistic effect, combining supplements can also be helpful to address specific health issues. Combining glucosamine with chondroitin may benefit those who suffer from joint stiffness or pain. Both chondroitin and glucosamine work to improve joint health and reduce inflammation. This can reduce stiffness and joint pain.
Similar to this, people suffering from memory loss or cognitive issues may benefit from combining omega-3 fatty acids as well as phosphatidylserine supplements. Omega-3 fatty acids are beneficial to brain health and cognitive function as well as phosphatidylserine helps improve memory and attention span.
CoQ10 combined with omega-3 fatty acids could be beneficial to those with heart conditions. CoQ10 is a powerful antioxidant that promotes heart health while omega-3 fatty acids can aid in reducing inflammation and improving the lipid profile.
Quality and the Importance of Quality
youtube
In the event of combining supplements, you must choose high-quality products from reputable manufacturers. Select supplements that have passed safety and effectiveness testing as well as research-based support. To ensure that supplements are as effective as possible, it is crucial to stick to dose guidelines and to ensure that they are stored properly.
You should also keep in mind that some supplements can be combined with other medications. For example, combining blood-thinning supplements such as fish oil or vitamin E with blood-thinning medications can increase the risk of bleeding. Combining a supplement like St. John's Wort with antidepressant medication can also reduce its efficacy.
Contact a healthcare provider
Talk to your doctor before mixing any supplements. This is especially important in the case of taking medication or have underlying medical issues. It is possible to ask your health physician for recommendations on what supplements to mix and how many of them to mix. They will also be able to provide specific information on the potential interactions between medicines as well as the supplement.
Your doctor will be able to help you determine which supplements you need for your particular health concern. Instead of jumbled the various supplements, focus on addressing specific health concerns with targeted supplements.

Better Together: The Synergistic Effects Of Combining Supplements For Optimal Health
Tumblr media
With regards to supplements, many people take one or two supplements in order to treat a particular health concern. Research suggests, however, that some supplements have synergistic benefits, which means that they can be superior to the supplement alone. In this piece we'll explore the benefits of combining supplements to achieve optimal well-being.
The Synergistic Effect
When supplements are combined, they can work together to create a synergistic impact. Calcium and vitamin D as an example, are frequently used to boost bone health. Calcium aids in increasing the absorption of vitamin D, and vitamin D assists in the absorption of calcium. Together, they produce an even greater impact for bone health than each supplement by itself.
Combining omega-3 fatty acid and vitamin E has a similar positive synergistic effect on inflammation. Vitamin E and omega-3 fatty acid have anti-inflammatory effects. Oxidative stress can be a major contributor to inflammation.
In the end, mixing probiotics with prebiotics may result in an effect synergistic to digestive health. Probiotics are living bacteria that support a healthy gut microbiome and prebiotics are not digestible fibers that feed the good bacteria that live in your stomach. They are able to improve digestion and immune system function when taken together.
Take supplements in conjunction with particular health issues
Combining different supplements isn't just beneficial for producing synergistic effects, but it can also help address specific health issues. Combining chondroitin and glucosamine could be beneficial for individuals suffering from joint pain and stiffness. Both reduce inflammation and support healthy joints. This can alleviate joint pain.
In the same way, those suffering from memory loss or cognitive problems may be benefited by combining omega-3 fatty acids with phosphatidylserine supplementation. Omega-3 fatty acids help support cognition and brain health, while phosphatidylserine can help improve memory and attention span.
Finally, individuals with heart health concerns could benefit from the combination of CoQ10 along with omega-3 fatty acids supplements. CoQ10 is an antioxidant that's potent which promotes heart health while omega-3 fatty acids can aid in reducing inflammation and improving lipid profiles.
The Importance of Quality
youtube
If you are combining different supplements, you must pick high-quality items from reliable manufacturers. Select supplements that have passed tests for safety and efficacy as well as research-based support. To make sure that the supplements are as potent as possible, it is essential to follow the dose guidelines and to store them properly.
It is important to keep your eyes on the fact that certain supplements can be combined with other medications. For example, combining blood-thinning supplements like fish oil and vitamin E with blood-thinning medications could increase the chance of bleeding. Similarly, combining supplements like St. John's wort with antidepressant medications can reduce the effectiveness of medications.
Contact a Health Care Provider
Consult your healthcare provider before mixing any supplements. This is especially important when you take medication or have medical issues. You can ask your healthcare doctor for guidance on the best supplements you should mix, and in what much of each. They will also be able to provide information about potential interactions between medicines and the supplement.
Your doctor will be able to help you determine which supplements you need to address your specific health issue. Instead of mixing supplements in blind it is better to concentrate on specific health issues and targeted supplementation.

What’s in those pellets?
It’s a wonder to me how while a one-sided diet of dry seeds for parrots is rightly criticized, pellets are sung to the skies as the be-all and end-all as a pet parrot diet.
While in theory it’s a good idea - parrots are picky eaters, and if you can squeeze all that they need in a pellet form, you can rest assured that they are getting their daily nutrients, even if they scorn greens or even fruit and nuts in their fresh form.
But it seems that very rarely does anyone actually look at what’s inside these pellets. Commercial dog and cat kibble have had high scrutiny put on them, forcing companies to improve (and a lot of owners straight up going to feeding raw) but parrot pellets have not had much of the same.
Let’s start with what I fed my Meyer’s parrot when I got her, and many years after: Hagen Tropican. I don’t know about America and the UK, but it’s quite popular in my country, and has a delightful, fruity smell, without any of the unnecessary colorings.
Corn, Soybean Meal, Wheat, Dehulled Peanuts, Brown Rice, Dehulled Sunflower Seeds, Canola Oil (preserved with mixed tocopherols), Calcium Carbonate, Lecithin, Oat Groats, Dried Tomato, Flaxseed, L - lysine, Alfalfa Nutrient Concentrate, Choline Chloride, DLmethionine, Beta-carotene, Biotin, Vitamin E Supplement, Niacin, Calcium L - Ascorbyl - 2 -Monophosphate (source of Vitamin C,) Zinc Oxide, Manganous Oxide, D-calcium Pantothenate, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Rosemary Extract, Copper Sulfate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Thiamine Mononitrate, Inositol, Folic Acid, Vitamin A Supplement, Calcium Iodate, Sodium Selenite, Vitamin D3 Supplement.
To recap, the main ingredients are corn, soybeans, wheat, peanuts, rice, sunflower seeds, and canola oil. If I fed my bird a homemade mix of this, I would rightly be shamed for it.
See here on the potential harms of feeding parrots soybeans:
https://www.bestbirdfoodever.com/2022/01/never-feed-birds-soy/
https://birdcageshere.com/2022/03/13/can-parrots-eat-soybeans/
As for another pellet brand, Nutribird is what my medium sulphur-crested cockatoo got with him when I took him home from the breeder (in 2006), and I had it as the base for both of my birds for a few years, occasionally still buying Hagen Tropican.
cereals, nuts (peeled peanuts 10%), derivatives of vegetable origin, vegetables, seeds (5%), minerals, oils and fats, fruit (apple 5%*), sugars, MOS, yucca *dehydrated fruits and vegetables, % equivalent before drying
When browsing dog food, I would never accept an ingredient list this flimsy, and this is from the manufacturer’s website. “Derivatives of vegetable origin”? So what is it?
Again, the main ingredients are cereals, nuts (10% peanuts being 10% of the pellets and not of the nut content, I assume), the aforementioned “derivatives”, “vegetables” and seeds.
So how is this any better than any random seed mix with cereals and peanuts?
Here was another brand I found on a list of “best parrot pellets”, and it looks the same. Corn, rice, soybean, wheat, oatmeal, sugar and canola oil were the first ingredients.
Zupreem and Roudybush are brands I’ve heard of a lot, and they look only like more of the same.
Adding this after actually finishing the rest of the post, TOP’s is the only brand to actually impress me with “real food” as its main ingredients.
Now to the most praised of all parrot pellet brands, Harrison’s bird food. It is widely considered “the best”, and sold by veterinarians (which is not in itself an indicator of anything other than that the vets have a business deal with the company).
But what’s in it?
As for the adult lifetime form:
*Ground Yellow Corn, *Ground Hulless Barley, *Ground Soybeans, *Ground Shelled Peanuts, *Ground Shelled Sunflower Seeds, *Ground Lentils, *Ground Green Peas, *Ground Rice, *Ground Toasted Oat Groats, *Ground Alfalfa, Calcium Carbonate, Psyllium, Montmorillonite Clay, Spirulina, Ground Dried Sea Kelp, Vitamin E Supplement, Sea Salt, Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Niacin Supplement, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Riboflavin Supplement, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, d-Biotin, Thiamine Mononitrate, Sodium Selenite.
So to repeat the main ingredients in short form... corn, barley, soybeans, peanuts, sunflower seeds, lentils, green peas, rice and oats.
The “high potency” product is not any better.
*Ground Shelled Sunflower Seeds, *Ground Hulless Barley, *Ground Soybeans, *Ground Shelled Peanuts, *Ground Green Peas, *Ground Lentils,*Ground Yellow Corn, *Ground Rice, *Ground Toasted Oat  Groats, Psyllium, *Ground Alfalfa, Calcium Carbonate, Spirulina, Montmorillonite Clay, Ground Dried Sea Kelp, Vitamin E Supplement, Sea Salt, Vitamin A  Supplement, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Niacin Supplement, Vitamin B12 Supplement,  Riboflavin Supplement, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride,  d-Biotin, Thiamine Mononitrate, Sodium Selenite.
Sunflower seeds is the first ingredient, followed by barley, soybeans, peanuts, green peas, lentils, corn, rice and oats.
Other than the lentils and peas, I don’t see how any of this is any healthier than, again, any random seed mix. With potentially harmful soybeans thrown in. Yes, there are supplements included, that’s great, but you could add those yourself, and the main ingredients is the point.
“Harrison's Bird Foods were developed by avian veterinarians, leading aviculturists and top avian nutritionists to be the most nutritionally complete diet available.“
I don’t know... I am obviously not one of these, I am just interested in nutrition and care about my pets and not being scammed. But just looking at the ingredients, I am not impressed. This is not a mix of healthy seeds, nuts, fruits and vegetables, it’s mainly a mix of cheap cereals like wheat and corn, and ironically, the much-maligned sunflower seeds and peanuts. And soybeans.
No thank you, I will not return to feeding my birds a pellet-based diet, unless a genuinely healthy option turns up.
