I've seen some people complain about loser, baby featuring Husk comparing his gambling addiction to Angel's sexual abuse. And I feel like this criticism entirely misses the larger context of them bonding over having both sold their souls. Like, maybe slavery isn't quite the right analogy for this situation (it's unclear what power owning someone's soul actually gives you. Alastor and Valentino resort to bribery and manipulation respectively, so whatever power it is doesn't seem to be absolute) but its pretty darn close.
This song is one person who doesn't fully own himself telling another "our lives our fucked beyond repair. Give up your pride, it won't save you anymore. But. We can still make something worwhile out of our lives, if we acknowledge the pain and help each other weather it."
An example ive seen criticiszed a lot is when angel says "it's OK to be a coked up dick suckiny ho?" And husk says "baby that's fine with me"
But in context, husks reply is less '"I see no problem with this and think it's fine" and more "I get it man. I won't abandon you for the things your master makes you do, or the way you cope with them. We're in this together"
Angel and Alastor both lived through the Great Depression- and honestly the hilarity that they looked at current price of rent and went ‘well I guess its time to entertain the Princess’
Truly Charlie needs to just go ‘free rent and food as long as you follow house rules’ like no way she ain’t getting a line out the back
fr
maybe the exorcists are doing everyone a favor by keeping rent prices down
And the ficlet about the V models exploring Hell together:
These are my gifts to @gayrhys, happy holidays💜
The image will probably look fine on Twitter, but let me know if you'd like it in higher resolution.
Close-ups, time-lapse and rambling under the cut.
Whew. It's been a while since I've drawn anything digitally.
Including the lineart on paper, this took me a little over two weeks, which is about a day of raw work in total. I used pen, pencil, paper, and my finger on the phone screen. There may have been a little blood involved as well.
Here is the process:
[Video ID: A time-lapse of making the drawing in ibisPaint. It starts with the background, then continues with the base colours and finishes with shading and details like dried blood.]
Darla/Angelus is also great because the show has a competing designated OTP and they exist to serve as contrast and hateful competition to THE ship. they are soulless monsters even by the standards of soulless monsters, they literally make the other soulless monsters go "yikes... your relationship seems not good maybe." but they love each other so fucking much. the writers can't help it. they are constantly trying to find their way back to each other. the way she hits him over a head with a shovel and leaves him to an angry mob while he tries to say he doesn't mind dying if it's with her AND the way they coo about it to each other afterwards. the way she takes him back against her better judgement because she missed him so so much but then kicks him out again later because he still can't be who she needs him to be. that's just how they say i love you.
Garak is So much right from his first episode. Laura Palmer of Cardassia over here trying to get laid, foil a terrorist plot, AND work a retail shift, all while high as fuck. Dude’s schedule in Past Prologue is FULL.
anyway that glue was right in front of him. it was always fucking there and he was close - he’d found the right section and everything, would’ve spotted it on his own at some point - he just needed someone to point it out to him to find it faster.
Things I’ve seen Hazbin Hotel fans take way too literally:
Taking Alastor’s verse in Hell’s Greatest Dad as true, genuine parental affection and not seeing it as him very clearly beefing with Lucifer
All of Poison and most of ep4 in general tbh. How can you not see this is a performance Angel is putting on and that he’s lying to himself?
Idk if this is taking things too literally or just not recognizing wordplay but saying “ace in the hole” is just referring to Alastor as a secret weapon when in context it’s CLEARLY an asexuality pun
“Tail between his legs” as confirmation that Alastor has a tail
People thinking “altruist” is Alastor’s last name
“Unclip my wings” meaning Alastor is actually an angel
I know I’m forgetting some stuff so feel free to add on
so apparently APPARENTLY there is a star OR angel that fell to earth known as wormwood, (apsinthion in greek), which is the name of a plant used to make absinthe, which in turn is thee main ingredient of death (in the) afternoon, kaeya's favorite drink
