I already had these ideas for about a year and a half but I was finally able to draw it/write them down. Also, I tried my best to draw in the project sekai art style. The face was the best I could do (T-T)…I’ll probably do the school uniform later.

If you want to know general ideas or maybe more info, you can read below, though, it’s kind of long(^^;) This unit will definitely be set before the 3rd anniversary.

This unit is known as Rozen Notturno, a classical and gothic band that focuses on one pair of musicians and one pair of singers/dancers. Together they create highly polished music. Pairs are changed depending on the song and while there are main singers, that doesn’t mean the musicians don’t sing. Because they’re more invested into music playing, they become back-up singers. Their dances are a mix of ballroom dancing and ballet. Each band member has an instrument(s) associated with them. Miyuki (piano, harpsichord, organ, etc.), Suzu (Violin), Aiko (Electric guitar, accordion), and Rei (Cello). Miyuki/Suzu tend to be in one pair and Aiko/Rei tend to be the other. Their lyrics are very symbolically/metaphorically driven and story based( they tend to be horror or fairy tale inspired). When they do add lyrics based on themselves, it’s usually hidden between the characters they created. Miyuki is the composer, Rei is the lyricist, Suzu is the storyteller, and Aiko is the stylist.

In terms of how their music sounds like, it’ll be something akin to Ali Project, Valkyrie (enstars), and Hollow Mellow. On the more extreme side, Rozen Notturno can lean more into gothic visual kei bands or Youseki Teikoku. Even jazz is a possibility.

Some of the vocaloid songs I was thinking that they could potentially cover could be limited, but that could also be because I haven’t search enough. Either way some of the songs include:

Kikuo (ex. Histrionic, Rolling Rolling Tumbling Along, Dance of the Corspes, KikuoHana in general

Kanon69 (Darkestory, Royal Scandal series)

Nem (ex. Angelfish, Virgin Suicides, Scissorhands)

Machigerita (ex. Coffin of Sweet Death, Dream Meltic Halloween, Moonlight and Black)

Hitoshizuku & Yana (ex. The Corpse Princess and the King of Vengeance, Prisoner of Love and Desire, 13th Apocalypse, Alluring Secret ~Black Vow~)

Some general songs (ex. Honeymoon Un Deux Trois, Cantarella, Cendrillion/Adolescent)

Their sekai would be the Ballroom Sekai. A place full of extravagant paintings/decor and musical instruments. It’s very Rococo inspired. It has enough space for Rozen Notturno to practice and for “guests” to peek in. The guests are porcelain dolls that are about 2.5 ft. The sekai is created by the dream of both Miyuki and Suzu, the dream to once again play together in front of a live audience (in an orchestra).

Miku and the rest of the vocaloids would be ball-joint dolls. Specifically with Miku, she’s an always smiling and always kind (albeit slight eccentric) doll that’s constantly en pointe. She has no instrument associated with her as she’s only a singer/3rd dancer. The rest of of the vocaloids change instruments based on the song.

The main story will most likely be about Miyuki meeting Suzu again after many years and failing multiple times to get her to play with him. He’ll meet Aiko and Aiko wanting to help him, will probably recruit Rei, who has no friends. The general idea of creating a “band” will actually be Aiko’s idea as in having more people to perform together should be much easier than having only one. With they finally recruit Suzu (with the help of the vocaloids as well), they decide to try to perform on a small stage. Though until the very end, Suzu is unable to, as her fears are triggered. What they decided to do thanks to Miyuki’s plan is to use Suzu’s persona, Engel, to perform instead, and to wait until Suzu is able to perform as herself, as everyone wants to continue playing together as a “band” . The main story arch will be mostly focused on helping Suzu gain the courage to play as herself with everyone. Smaller arcs will include on how they want to run their band/how they should perform, Rei’s inability to open up even for the most simplest of things (trust issues/vulnerability issues), and Aiko’s fear of being abandoned by her friends (abandonment issues). Miyuki’s the only one who’s actually ok(^^;). Though, arcs will most likely focus in his creative endeavors (same as Rei).

Some character interactions:

Miyuki will have interactions with Toya (mostly), Akito, Kanade, Ichika, and Tsukasa.

Suzu will have interactions with Mafuyu and Mizuki (She’ll have the least because of her social anxiety)

Aiko will have interactions with basically everyone but mostly Mizuki, An, and Tsukasa.

Rei will have interactions with only the Kamiyama students and he won’t have any favorites.

That’s all I have but I might add more later when I get more ideas.

3. Favorite musical artist / group you started listening to this year?

As I mentioned before everyone so far has asked me this one! It is a very good question though so here's another 'new' artist for me, Angelfish! Can I request a senario where jade tries to calm down fem reader who is his s/o after a alchemy accident creates a fear gas that makes her see and hear her worst fear which is her being entirely alone. A podcast on Magic History was playing, sending words flitting in and out of your ears, but your brain didn’t seem to register the meaning of any of them.

You busied yourself with scrolling through your MagiCam feed, then checking your inbox and text messages. Cater had recently tagged you in a photo, and Professor Crewel had sent out an email reminder about the exam next week. Your group chat with the other first years was, as usual, flooded. No doubt that Ace and Deuce were arguing yet again.

You saw it all, and yet you dared not to open anything, dared not to respond. If you did, those notifications would be gone forever--and who knows when the next will come, if they ever did? Those little flags--bubbles encasing a number of unread messages--kept you sane.

Jade nodded, passing you a cup of tea. His reflection was painted in a solemn sepia. “Humans are social creatures by nature. There is no shame in fearing loneliness.”

You accepted--and you downed your drink in one swig before. You didn’t know what was worse--glimpsing your miserable expression upon the surface of the tea as you brought it to your lips, or the empty cup that remained after the fact.

He barely had the energy to set his glasses on the nightstand and get comfortable again as thoughts of what he’d do with his love tomorrow began swirling in his head and a sleepy smile spread across his face… THE END

Due to not being in college since December because of lockdown, I wasn’t able to photocopy any of my drawings and, as a result of that, make any more collages for my project. However, I returned to college a few days ago and managed to use the photocopier, so now I’m in a position where I can explore different compositions for my themed, planned collages over the Easter holidays. The one above is a Halloween-themed collage composition experiment (I haven’t stuck anything down yet) where I have gathered lots of my drawings and combined them with a black and white photocopy of my angelfish painting. Overall I quite like this experiment. My favourite part is the colour contrast- the difference between the vibrant greens, yellows, purples, reds etc juxtapose the grey fish, making it stand out as a result (I also carefully considered where to put the fish and decided it looked best in the middle- I will post other experiment photos later). I have also continued my theme of large brands playing a role in oceanic pollution (Haribo, Dairy Milk, Rowntree's etc) which I think is effective. I like how the ‘Dead Chewy’ packaging symbolises death not only because of the name but because of the imagery used on it- this perhaps tells the viewer that sea creatures all around the world are dying because of this waste (it’s also fitting for the Halloween theme). Despite this, I think I could consider a more playful, experimental composition, for example having some of the drawings upside down, as they’re all upright in this experiment. It also looks a little top-heavy in my opinion, so to make it more balanced I could make the fish smaller, for example. Any feedback is really appreciated :)

After getting feedback from my art teacher, I think it’s a good idea to try to be a bit more experimental with my work. This includes drawing / painting on more unconventional materials (like the cardboard piece previously- I’m thinking of making a series of three- and fused plastic), as well as completing a few playful exercises combining the sea creatures and waste products (e.g. cutting photocopies into strips and bringing them together).

Who were you named after? Nobody… but I was specifically not named after an aunt of mine that my parents both hated (they went with a similar but not identical name, so they could get a particular nickname).  In a strange turn of events, my mother-in-law has the same name as the aunt, so bullet dodged.  (How weird would it be for my spouse if I had the same name as his mom?)

Last time you cried? Three days ago.  I was watching a youtube video about a cat who, for the sake of not traumatizing others, was having a really bad day.

Do you like your handwriting? I spent a lot of time playing around with my handwriting in high school.  At this point in my life, I don't really care much about it one way or another.  I vastly prefer typing.

What is your favorite lunch meat? Boar's Head does a rotisserie chicken lunchmeat that is to die for

Longest relationship? Twenty-one years as friends, thirteen years as a romantic couple (overlapping)

Do you still have your tonsils? Nope!  They were removed when I was about five or six.  My mom fed me ice cream all week, which I enjoyed immensely, but ruined for myself by requesting tin roof (which is a mix involving nuts that would not be kind to a tender throat…)

What is your favorite kind of cereal? Cracklin' Oat Bran (basically oatmeal cookies in cereal form… I prefer it as a snack more than in a bowl with milk)

Do you untie your shoes when you take them off? Hell no, who has time for that

Do you think you’re strong willed? Absolutely

Favorite Ice Cream? Neapolitan

What is the first thing you notice about a person? Their demeanor

Football or baseball? I've never found a sportball that enthralls me on any level, but I probably care about basketball the most because the spouse is really into basketball

If you were a crayon, what color would you be? Plum

What is your favorite smell? This is HARD… maybe baking apple pie, but it has to be like… a real pie.  I hate that scent as a candle, air freshener, etc.

Who was the last person you talked to on the phone? It was either one of my best friends or my dad… both were sometime last week.  

Hair color? Dark purple... it looks black in certain lights, it’s that dark

Eye color? Green-gray

Favorite food to eat? This changes a lot, but right now, ice cream

Scary movies or happy ending? I hate scary movies.  I just don't find that particular feeling any fun at all.

Last movie you watched in a theater? The Rise of Skywalker.  I did not personally care for it, and I'm a little dazed by the idea that it might be the last movie I ever see in a theater (given how things are going).  I love movie theaters… I love the crappy popcorn and giant sodas and sitting in a cold room with no distractions whatsoever.  It's pretty rare that I'm in an environment that feels that calm.

What color shirt are you wearing? Orange.  It's laundry day.

Favorite holiday? Halloween

Beer or wine? I like both, but if I could only have one ever again… generally beer.
