Hey! It's the mod here. I know it's been a while, so I wanted to make an update post regarding the unannounced hiatus I've been on.

As you may have guessed, based on the (aside from reblogging my ask for help from my main), I got a bit of burnout with this blog. I've been wanting to start it back up again for a while, and I've been plotting out a bit of plot for a while so I'm not just making this all up as I go along and can keep track of things lol. Now, while this is fun and all, there are some things I want to address.

Firstly, as some of you may know, this blog started because Levi's mod and I were going back and forth with a prince donnie idea, initially to help him sleep, in fact. As you can tell, it spun up into this blog and an entire universe of its own. Unfortunately, Levi's mod and I had a falling out. For those of you that do follow my main, back in August, there was a debacle from me freaking out over something and some confusion over who I was upset with, leading to a chain of hate mail that has continued to the point that I'm even less sure of my identity and self-worth than before. Levi's mod contacted me via DMs to talk about the situation, but never responded after I did. To my knowledge, at least as far as Tumblr is showing me when I look at old asks on this blog, their blog has since deactivated. I'm unsure if they have received harassment or anything on my behalf from this entire situation, but if that occurred, I do not condone it and I am ashamed of those of you that partook in that. In light of these developments, unless I am contacted by Levi's mod either directly or through a mutual contact, I will be leaving their contributions to this au and the origins intact out of respect. If he wishes to no longer be included in this au, he knows where to contact me, and I will overhaul as necessary and restart the blog to do so.

Secondly, as things have been somewhat bogged down as of late, for the sake of plot, I may timeskip to when everyone has been safely returned home to their universe. Before doing this, I will consult with the lovely mod that was assisting with the pizzaplex crossover arc before doing so to see what course of action I should take. If I do timeskip, I will answer the ask that Pride's mod has sent me to tie up a little bit of Michaelangelo and Ali's adventure into the canon Rise universe, and then proceed with the timeskip.

As of right now, anon will be remaining off to avoid further hate mail, insults, and threats to my life and safety, along with attempts at doxxing me in my own inbox. If there are questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to send in an ask, and I will respond as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience with this long wait, and I'm excited to continue the story of this blog, as I have a lot in store!

Welcome, one and all, to the 8th Annual Tickle Fandom Bloggers Squealing Santa Extravaganza!

This year’s humble host for 2023 on her second year is @hypahticklish - I'm ecstatic to continue stoking the fires of our wonderful tradition! We were so lucky last year to have not only our community artists join the fun, but to break our previous record of participants. I cannot wait to see all the magic our corner of tumblr is able to create 🥰 But enough of my shmoozing - let’s get on to the main event!

Here are the general rules of engagement:

In order to get a peice of tickle fiction or art, you must be willing to create a new peice of tickle fiction or art for someone else.

Your work must be based on the fandoms and prompts provided by your giftee during registration. Examples of what those loose prompts may look like can be found here.

All creations must be posted during the month of December.

All creations must have a title and @ both their giftee and the event blog when posting.

All participants will have their DMs and Asks available for communication with the event Host.

For Our Writers

Fics must be at least 500 words, but there is no limit if you’d like to write more!

All authors must also include the total word count of their piece and a short summary.

Fics must be legibly formatted, i.e. not a block of text for the entire piece.

For Our Artists

Traditional art must be completed on an unlined surface with minimal remaining sketch lines. Color or grayscale is optional. Scanning is preferable when uploading your piece but at the very least needs to be clear and well-lit photo.

Digital art must minimally be in contrasted color or grayscale, and have finished line work.

Comics must have a minimum of two medium-large panels OR two small panels and one medium-large panel, with minimal remaining sketch lines. Color or grayscale is optional.

All artists must include their own accessibility image IDs.

There is no limit if you'd like to create more or explore stylization!

Once sign-ups end, we’ll send out assignments and you’ll have until December 31st to finish your piece and send it to the person you’re creating for. In turn, your writer or artist will post a piece for you also by the end of December! No one will know who is working on whose prompts until the works are published, because surprises are fun!

Please note that the registration is conducted via Google Forms. While we have turned all email requirements off, there’s still a chance it will autofill that information if you’re logged in. We’d definitely recommend filling out the survey using incognito mode just in case for that reason. Should any emails be submitted accidentally, they will not be utilized or released.

IF YOU ARE ANON: you still must include a tumblr url that we can contact you at. We promise we won’t give it out to anyone; we just will need a way to contact you over the course of the exchange!

We will send you a confirmation DM once your registration has been submitted, so if you don’t receive that, contact us! We want to make sure no one gets left out due to the survey eating submissions or something similarly dumb.

Registration closes at midnight PST on November 5th, so be sure to share with your knismobuddies!

hello liv! thank you for your service to the fandom, i spend such an inordinate amount of time sifting through all your reclists! i’ve been seeing drarry authors do their first line/last line posts for patterns and was wondering how that might pan out for reccers, so i had a question for you— what are some of the fics you find yourself reccing most often, across lists? do they speak to your own tastes? does a pattern emerge through them about the kind of asks you get? you always rec a really diverse range of fics but i do see some recurring favourites cropping up and was wondering if you had thoughts on it!

Thank you for your kind words and for the ask, anon! This was a very interesting way to adapt that ask game to my blog and I appreciate you for including me 💜 I had to take a minute and think about this because despite knowing that I’ve recced some fics over and over across lists, I’ve never stopped to analyze it in detail. Taking a quick look, I’ve tried to identify some patterns and I think these examples offer interesting insights:

1) I Am Not Who I Became and A Sword Laid Aside - two long fics I mention a lot (often alongside each other) because they combine some very popular tropes: recluse & powerful Harry, competent Draco, forced proximity, fast smut + slow emotional burn, D/s undertones

2) Clear as Mud and Unfinished Business are two personal faves I don’t see in rec lists often, they’re more like old-ish hidden gems and I love getting the chance to sneakily include them!

3) Take the Moon and Life goes not Backward: two favourites written by my friends! Funnily enough, they’re both kid fics which is a trope I don’t really care for lol. Reccing friends is one of my biggest pleasures in fandom, I’ve seen a lot of criticism/questioning around it which makes absolutely no sense to me - appreciating each other’s work and finding things in common is what brings us together in the first place 🤷🏻‍♀️

The main reason why I include any fic on a list is because I believe it’s a good fit. I always try to get a sense of what the reader is looking for bc it helps me find the right tone, but it can also get challenging if the request is too vague or too specific. Because I publish lists on demand I try to be as trope agnostic as possible, but at the end of the day I can only rec what I’ve read and enjoyed, so this will always be a subjective process (which I love! Imo rec lists are special and unique exactly because they are personal).

Back to the pattern discussion, I think seeing the same works mentioned on a regular basis reflect not only my own preferences but the ways it matches some emerging trends among the readers who follow me. Now the blog’s been around for a while and I don’t rec as much as I used to, it’s fair to assume that those who stick around have found in my blog similar tastes and fandom approach. In the last couple years I’ve noticed more requests around themes such as powerful Harry, competent Draco, bi and gay awakening, or fics where they take care of each other, bond over shared trauma and redeem or heal together. I think those reading trends are largely influenced by writing trends and vice-versa (especially in the Tumblr bubble!) so in a way we’re all collectively setting those trends and de-constructing or giving new meanings to old perspectives. That’s the true transformative power of fandom! Love that for us 🙌

Funny thing, someone told me they'd never seen an azul stan such as me who adored him sm, BUT I'M SORRY YOU NEED TO BE GETTING A CROWN FOR THIS, I am literally an amateur in front of you.

Also, I read that anon ask of yours where you both admitted to almost crying with azul, and now I feel kinda pathetic to say it hyped me up and I was disappointed it ended so quickly 💀 (also I didn't even realize he was crying until I logged onto tumblr wtf) it was more like "he's crying? is he? OMG AZUL IS CRYING?!?! LESSGO LMAO THIS IS INTERESTING" mind you I ADORE azul and I did even before book 1, but I just have this tendency to insult my favourite characters 💀 love-hate relationships <3

SPEAKING OF AZUL, I USED THAT BITCH IN MY ENGLISH DESCRIPTIVE WRITING IN MY EXAM. Yeah I used his personality, and mostro lounge's interior, and an angry client and some contracts bs💀 except I switched the tweels for a blue eyed woman u h. I ALSO NAMED THE AZUL CHARACTER JONES TF 😭 and he also had azuls glasses AND I WANTED TO ADD MORE BUT my English teacher isn't a boomer and there is a HIGH chance she'd played or HEARD of twst, so I didn't wanna embarrass myself. I am so sorry this is so late HAHAHA BUT FKDFKNSDFKLSDF THANK YOU FOR THE SUPPORT and trust me, this may not be the last time I'll talk about this because who knows, something might inspire me to make a third post. But I won't try to bog this blog down either.

Anyway, onto the main anon, kjfsdnfkjdskjnjksdnjkdskf a lot of people have said that to me as well xDD I think I've gotten a couple of anon asks about it. I can't help but be loud about Azul here, he's my joy and light. But hey, loudness doesn't equate to how much one adores someone, I'm sure you adore Azul a lot as well (and please bug me about it so we can scream together, I need more Zuzu stannies)

As for the anon ask, ok I can't find it right now HDFKFJKSFKSD but noo don't worry too much about it. I know some Azul stans who also reacted the same way xD first impressions are first impressions, after all, plus not everyone will react the same way. Like ,, I love Riddle, but I was laughing when he cried the first time because the sounds sounded funny 💀 What matters more is understanding and the willingness to understand what's happening, why a character acted the way they did, and how they are as a person in general.

LMAOOOO good job anon, hope you got the grade you wanted. I've also used Azul in so many of my school outputs 💀💀💀 like, I used him once in a 17k word fic that I submitted in class HAHAHHAHAAHAHAHHAHA I never got my grade for it but hey . it was worth it. I have a novel now that I could potentially publish if I just revise and edit.

Hi, anon. Yes, thank you, I am aware that writing fanfiction is free.

But you know what isn't free? Time and energy.

And with every fic I write, I'm very aware of the risk that I'm going to sink time and energy into a fic that fandom ultimately doesn't want, and that I'll see in the stats just how much fandom doesn't want me writing this kind of fic. And then everyone else in fandom will see just how much the fic failed and think that I have no skill as a writer, and then they'll never want to give my fics a chance, either.

It's for this reason that I've always been reluctant to write the fics I want with the Anakin characterization I want. Popular fic tropes and characterizations are often popular for a reason. If I go ahead and start writing the opposite of the himbo!disaster!Anakin characterization that everyone else loves and that is widely accepted among the fandom, there's a high likelihood that people are just going to skip over my fic and go straight for the fic with the popular characterization that's already familiar to them.

Because as much as people talk about "two cakes" and how much they'd love to see a new kind of characterization or a new spin on X trope, when push comes to shove, they will inevitably default to reccing and praising the existing popular fics. If a new fic is published by an unknown writer, any given fan will just ignore it favor of the popular fics that are already out there. Doesn't matter if this new fic includes tags, a summary, and has been entered into a collection that's relevant to that person's interests; if it comes down to choosing between the popular fic and the new fic, everyone will choose the popular fic every time. It's been this way in every fandom I've ever participated in. Popularity wins. Always. End of story. The second cake doesn't matter, because it was never truly wanted to start with.

And look, people aren't wrong for liking what's popular, and no one is obligated to read or rec my writing. That's not what I'm trying to say. But there's a certain loneliness to knowing that your fandom preferences are always guaranteed to make sure your work is always going to get passed over, no matter how much effort you put into it or time you spent on it. And it doesn't make it easier to know the reason for that is because you like to write fic focusing on Anakin overcoming a challenge and earning respect for it, and what the fandom wants to see is flailing!Anakin getting into shenanigans.

And I also have to say that as a writer, my fic never gets recced. Not even the fic people insisted they wanted to see and that fandom needs more of. The main reason why I hesitated so long in updating my "Anakin is Mace's Padawan" AU is because despite the constant clamoring for better Mace characterization in fic, I couldn't get recced on any of the Mace-positive blogs after posting the first part of the series. And that was a huge blow to my self-confidence, because I couldn't stop wondering what I was doing wrong. I had three WIPs to add to the series, but I really struggled to complete any of them, because I was certain I was making a mistake somewhere, but I couldn't determine what it was. I thought there must have been a reason for why no one thought my fic was worth reccing, but I had no idea of how to figure it out.

Finally, I pushed those feelings aside and wrote a quick little second installment. And again, no one recced or thought it was worth mentioning. I guess, sometimes, when you push through insecurity and manage to take the leap, there really is no reward waiting for you. I now have those three more WIPs waiting for me to come back and finish them, but I almost can't bear to do that, because I can't stop worrying it's just going to be another exercise in disappointment.

The reason I bring this up is because, as I'm sure most Mace fans agree, there really is a dearth of fic that's both focused on him and flattering towards him. Comparatively, there's much more of Obikin fic. So my thought process is this: if I can't convince most Mace Windu fans that my Mace fic is worth reading, how am I ever going to convince Obikin fans that my Obikin fic is worth reading? Especially when I'm not using the popular characterization most people want to see, and when there's so much existing popular fic with that characterization that readers are almost certain to choose over anything I write. The truth is that nothing I write stands a chance, and that no one is going to want to read fic by me. They want the popular stuff that's already out there, and they are perfectly in their rights to want that, but I'm sure you can understand why that knowledge dampens my enthusiasm.

So . . . yeah. I've been grateful for the support I've received for those ideas I mentioned, but the truth is, I only see writing those Obikin fics ending in disappointment for me. Because I know even if I do my damnedest and create fics I've very proud of, no one will ever choose me as a writer. And I just can't deal with the constant anxiety that I'll write this fic and shape it into a final version that I'm very proud of, only to see that at the end, everyone thought it was worthless all along. I've been through that before, and it was very unpleasant, and I never want to repeat it.

Ultimately, I've learned the lesson fandom wanted me to learn, which is that fandom doesn't want you going against fanon, even if they claim that's what they do want.

I'm not really sure how to end this. I like Anakin. I like Obikin. But I also know don't subscribe to the popular fanon characterizations, so I don't think the Obikin fandom would want what I'd have to offer. And again, no one is obligated to read or enjoy my writing, but it sucks to have an idea and know you can't do anything with that idea, because it's almost certainly going to fail.

PSA TIME ABOUT FEEDBACK FOR CREATIVE COMMUNITIES!!

honestly in context with jas’s post. I want y’all to know I see all of you who simply like my fics and nothing more (as jas called them serial likers/silent readers) and I think enough ppl already tell you how likes don’t do jack shit so I won’t reiterate it. I just want you all to know that I personally check my notifications all the time, like literally I look and see you guys simply liking and that’s great that you “liked” it but pls talk to me or any cc in general (fic writers, gif makers, artists, etc.) about our stuff, you do it with literally any other topic be it anime, video games, etc. that’s what fandom is supposed to be right? a place where people can communicate and share their love for a certain thing? (that’s what it is supposed to be hopefully) we are not robots putting out content for your leisure, we are people just like you and like you we would like feedback on our work. feedback does not have to equal “xxx was good but xxx could be better” every single time it can be “HAKSHDKSJ THIS XXX WAS AAAAAA” and people would still be happy. this whole situation doesn’t have to be “oh well that’s just how it works so I’m doing what everyone else is doing” that kind of mob mentality is dangerous and as we’ve seen, very fatal to creative communities. anon feature is there for the people who don’t want their url seen, if for some reason you’re shy, embarrassed or for those people who don’t want others knowing they read fic(?). whatever your reason is, just click the anon button it’s easy, just one click/tap. now will this single post make a difference? who knows. I’m just chipping in some commentary on a growing issue. why do you think so many writers and ccs make nets, one of the main reasons is to get members’ content out there for the world to see, and the other reason is that we wanna support each other when our audience won’t, when people are so silent it feels dead and quiet on our blogs when we aren’t doing things. that’s me, since I haven’t put out a new fic the most interaction on my blog rn is through my concert videos, it’s very rare I get asks or interaction with my fics after they’ve been out for a while and I’m so thankful when I do. at the end of the day, I know I’ve been so disappointed and sad to find authors I liked deactivating (for any reason not just lack of interaction) and one of the main reasons is that either they take lack of interaction personally, or they find they’ve lost the motivation to keep up with a hobby they used to enjoy and that’s heartbreaking. it’s not like those people are asking for much they just wanna know what your fave part about a story is? you do that all the time with published books and series right? so let me ask you this: why is a fic any different? they both have words on a page. one thing you may not realize is that once that author you liked is gone it’s very rare that they may come back, for all you know they could simply keep their writing to themselves or share with friends but you’ll miss out. you’re not gonna find another one like them even if you think “meh one author leaving is fine there are plenty of others” trust me you’re not gonna find another like them they’re special and one of a kind. me included. you won’t find another like me. (maybe you think that sounds conceited but it’s true) so be kind to fic authors and just ccs in general bc if they leave you will miss them; subconsciously or outright.

I want to apologise. Because when I got this ask, my intention was to do something like this:

Post at least the first chapter of the fic I had already written

Answer this ask with a link to that fic

Post some headcanons relevant to the fic/that came up while writing

What actually happened:

Put off posting the first chapter of the fic because the last fic in the series wasn't finished (pro tip, if it starts as 'a oneshot' and winds up as a 160k word series, just admit to yourself that it's never going to actually finish)

Type up many headcanon posts and keep them in drafts until the fic is posted, which it wasn't (see point one)

Also convinced myself that I needed to update all my existing fics in different fandoms with a link to both this Tumblr and my main blog, so readers could find me over here

Also needed to update both blogs with a pinned post to get my online life in some semblance of order

Put off all the AO3 and Tumblr maintenance work until I had 'enough time/energy' to do it

So many many apologies, anon. I truly didn't mean to put this off for quite so long. I have no idea who you are, whether you are still on Tumblr or even still into the Ravenwatch, but I never forgot you. I hope that wherever you are, whatever you are doing, you're having a great time.

And to answer the question, my fic can be found here:

(I have got this fic and the next four fully written, just posting chapters on a weekly basis now. There is a fifth and sixth fic planned in the series, partly written but I'm not going to make promises about when those might ever emerge!) It's an exploration of that one line of Gwendis' about wild Ravenwatch parties, with all the smut that implies. I intended it to be a oneshot, and it ran away with me. Alongside the smut, there's a lot of character development/exploration of the whole Ravenwatch family and the nature of vampirism in Tamriel, so while it is f!Vestige/Verandis/Gwendis centric, pretty much everyone in the Ravenwatch family gets some onscreen time. (including Kallin and Estelle, eventually, because I really wanted to flesh out everyday life at the castle and it always rubbed me up the wrong way that we are told the servants are treated well and have full agency but then nothing ingame actually supports that - this is one of those things I really wanted to be shown, not told)

HAHAHAHAHAHA Uh, I have an obscene number of ideas, but WIPs is mostly just like, 3 I think? Though I have one fic coming out soon (or already out depending on where this hits my queue) end of July for the Reverse Bang. I did three of them, so two are out but one is still pending posting by the mods.

In terms of legit WIPs, I’m mostly trying to work on Mafia!Derek but the posting schedule for that is very much dependent on how @faevorite-main-blog is feeling about it since it’s a collab. Other than Mafia!Derek, I have two formal WIPs that I poked at recently, and one fic I will probably start and finish before getting back to Mafia!Derek since it’s for someone specific.

So yeah, I have stuff, I just lack time mostly to actually work on it much, IRL and work have been pretty bleh of late so I’m doing what I can |D

Hello, I would just like to say I love your blog and while I've just started reading some of your fics, they have been very enjoyable. I was curious if you know any other basis or places for information on Moriarty and Sebastian that are not the Sherlock Holmes books or the movie (RDJ film), perhaps some other book I am not aware of.

Anyways, thank you and I'll definitely be looking forward to future work of yours. Your writing is quite interesting I must say.

There is not a huge amount of material for them unfortunately and there is even less if you want material that includes both characters in a meaningful way (i.e. as more than just a brief glimpse) and has them interacting positively. One or both of them turns up sometimes in published fiction or in films or TV shows but it's rarely in a major way.

I think I summarised my thoughts about the main books (and one short story) featuring them in this post (spoiler: most of my thoughts on these are not positive). A lot of other people would probably immediately say The Hound of the D'ubervilles. However I do not like The Hound of the D'urbervilles. The one I would say is the best because it features both characters in significant roles and has positive interaction between them is Michael Kurland's The Empress of India but with that you do have to bear in mind that Kurland's take is a very different one to the canon and very much his own universe (and having been attempting recently to reread his series, I can reconfirm that I don't actually enjoy the rest of the series that much. While I like Moriarty in it, it's far too focused on his original characters, Moran is barely in it apart from in Empress and even Moriarty is barely in some of the other stories for long stretches and when he is in it often he's interacting with characters I haven't got the slightest interest in or he's interacting with other characters such as Holmes in a manner I have no interest in either so a lot of the time I am quite bored by them).

There are some other published short stories involving one or both characters; sometimes they show up in some of these anthologies of new Sherlock Holmes related stories by various authors. Some I've read, some I haven't (and some of those I probably won't get to read because the books are just too expensive and not something I otherwise have any interest in and I can't obtain them elsewhere). I can't really say out of the ones I have read though that any of them really stood out as being particularly good or enjoyable.

There is the 1937 film Silver Blaze (also called Murder at the Baskervilles) which is reasonably faithful to the original story but includes Moriarty in it and also has Moran in it. It's no cinematic masterpiece or anything but considering that they are the 'bad guys' they got more interaction than I would have expected and did at least seem to get along (and I do still believe that in some ways Moriarty and Moran in that were probably an influence on Moriarty and Moran in A Game of Shadows).

Both characters do appear in other adaptations too of course, like the Granada/ITV series. But not together. Also I don't actually like Moriarty in that and though I like Moran in it, his role is very limited. They could have done a lot more with him but... didn't. (They were both in the Soviet series too and Moriarty was in the Russian series from a few years back also but I didn't like either of them and considering what Russia has been doing I'd prefer to just kind of... ignore those.)

(There may be other stuff that I can't really comment on like there's a podcast thing called The Devil's Game or something like that? Which apparently has both of them in? But I can't listen to it so unless someone provides a transcript of the entire thing sometime I'll never know what happens in that or how it portrays them. And I suppose some people might say that Moriarty the Patriot thing but I can say with 100% certainty without watching a single moment of it that that is very definitely Not My Thing.)

About Me and FAQ

I'm Kim or Angel--the author behind both GoldenEyesObsession (GEO) and AngelSelene (AS) on Ao3. I'm a fandom old with an obsession for long-haired pretty boys, crossovers, and a compulsion to make things make sense. I've been writing for almost 30 years at this point--it has always been a passion of mine, and I'm delighted to share it with people.

I write a lot of things that people find upsetting, I am extremely pro-darkfic and anti-censorship, and I will block aggressively. If you don't like me or my content, the back and block buttons are right there. If you can't play nice, I will do it for you.

FAQ below the cut.

What's the difference between the accounts?

AngelSelene is my more mainstream account (and my main blog is under the name too, though the blog is really anything that interests or amuses me). It tends to focus more on healthy relationships and plot-heavy crossovers (don't look at me--I said tends). Look for the #angiewrote tag for posts about what I'm working on for AS.

GoldenEyesObsession is the Problematic™️account. There you're going to find a lot of dubious consent (at best), twisted relationships, and a lot of kinky tropes that are common squicks and triggers. Also, there's a lot of My Hero Academia on GEO, and I'm particularly known for writing DabiShou (thus the banner). Look for the #kimerawrote tag for posts about what I'm working on for GEO.

Why the two accounts?

Short answer? Embarrassment and discomfort with the kind of smut I was writing originally.

Long answer? Still those two, but it probably helps to understand that I started posting on Ao3 with 2 very, very different fics. First was Stand Without Flinching (the Gundam Wing/MCU crossover that I consider my magnum opus), and the second was GEO's Prepared to Sacrifice, which is original and super self-indulgent pure problematic smut. I just didn't think those two audiences had a lot of crossover, and I didn't want to shove Prepared in the face of Stand readers. Also, when Prepared absolutely crushed Stand's statistical performance, it was definitely a little disheartening. Having those two fics on separate accounts to keep me from comparing their stats directly really helped. (I don't have as much of an issue with it anymore, but when they were the only fics on my account, it was... frustrating). So I set up GEO and moved Prepared from anon to it.

Why the sideblog?

Because I'm bad at using my main blog to talk about my writing, I want a place to bitch about how my fics are misbehaving (or maybe share them when I'm excited), and... also I'm totally procrastinating on actually writing a chapter I'm supposed to post today. Procrastinating about writing with writing something else? Couldn't be me... 😅

Can I support your writing?

I'm flattered, but this is truly my hobby, and I'm fortunate enough that I do not need anyone to help support me. I don't really have any plans to publish anything original at this time (if that changes, I'll update this), so if you want to support me, the best way to do so is with comments and sharing my work.

Do you take commissions/requests?

At this time, no to both. I have that knee-jerk reaction to the moment I have to do something (like because someone paid me to do it), it's the last thing I want to do. If this blog is successful, I may open prompts at some point, but currently, no, I don't take requests.

1) How many complete fics/one-shots do you have that you have not published (yet)?

None, though I have the next few chapters of Fragile Normality done and ready for posting when they're scheduled.

2) How many WIPS do you have right now?

One, the rest of FN. I have other ideas floating around, but I'm not sure I'd call them WIPs so much as "thoughts I've jotted down and may or may not get back to".

3) Do you take writing requests or write original ideas, or both?

I used to take requests, but no longer and haven't for a long time. So only original ideas!

4) If you do take requests, how many do you currently have?

None!

5) How many fandoms do you write for?

Just Pedro's at the moment, though I've dabbled in Triple Frontier and Star Wars in general with Boba in the past.

6) Are there any fandoms you wrote for in the past that you no longer write for?

I wrote one OC fic when I was like... 14 that was a very thinly-veiled reader insert with band RPF. No I will not say which band, and the fic itself has long since been scrubbed from the internet because quite frankly it's embarrassing to think about lmao.

7) Do you write for ships, reader inserts or other?

Reader inserts, though I've considered writing some original works too.

8) Niche fandoms/characters you write for?

Does Whiskey count as niche...? I feel like he's kind of a niche character. But other than that, several other PP characters would probably fit the bill.

9) Do you read fics as well as write them?

Not as much as I'd like to. I'll read them if it's a friend's fic and they've tagged me, but unfortunately I rarely have the time to venture out and read others' fics as of late.

10) What is your favorite genre to write for?

Horror/thriller/suspense with romance thrown in. Just for funsies.

11) What is your favorite trope (to read/write)?

"There's only one bed", "friends to lovers", "apocalypse romance", "monster/human romance", plus just about every other fluff trope you can think of.

12) What do you do to get motivated to write?

Procrastinating on something else I'm supposed to be doing usually does the trick.

13) Is there a trope/genre you like to read, but not write?

Not really. If I like to read it, I'll write it too.

14) Any characters/fandoms you want to write for that are never requested?

I no longer take requests, but I've been feeling a pull towards Dieter Bravo lately. I think he'd be fun to write something for, though I'm not sure what. It's hard for me to get a handle on his character from just a few seconds of trailer screen time.

15) How long have you been writing fan fiction?

Almost 2 years! (Unless you count my previously mentioned fic I wrote in middle school. Which I do not lmao)

16) Did you read fan fiction before you started writing?

I did! In fact, I sent a few asks to authors here under the "⭐ Anon" nickname before I made this blog, just to see if my ideas would be received well enough to warrant posting them.

17) Do you only post on Tumblr, or any other sites as well?

I also post on Ao3 under the same username, though I have yet to migrate most of my works over there and I don't respond to comments. Right now only original, full fics are posted there, and they're always posted here first. If you see my works anywhere else, they've been stolen, so please let me know.

18) What do you personally consider the word counts of "Drabble", "One shots" and "fics"?

Hmm... a drabble I would consider 500-1000 words. One shots and fics are... interchangeable to me, so anything over that 1000 word threshold counts for both in my mind.

19) Which do you prefer to write more? HC, drabbles, oneshots/fics, multi chapter stories, other?

Drabbles or one-shots mostly, contrary to my recent writing habits lol

20) Are there any stories you have discontinued? If so, why?

None that I can think of!

21) What is one of your main "pet-peeves" as a writer on Tumblr?

I'm gonna seem like a jackass, but I still can't get over how my most-interacted-with fic in forever was Heat Part 1, and I fully believe that's because I said there wouldn't be a smutty part 2 unless people showed interest. Like I had to promise smut and hold part of my story hostage in order to get any interaction.

22) Do you write a particular time of day?

Not really. It varies, depending on when I have the inspiration.

23) Do you listen to music, ambiance/noise, etc to write or do you need silence?

As much as I'd love to listen to music while I write, I have to have silence or white noise like a fan.

24) Do you outline your fics at all before writing?

25) Do you post your writing as soon as you finish it, or do you schedule it to come out at a specific time/day?

With one-shots, they go up the same day I finish them (though usually at 6pm EST). With multi-chapter, I schedule them like I'm doing with Fragile Normality.

1. Unsure if I'll upload it, unsure if it's good 😅

2) How many WIPs do you have?

Gawd... 41.. I'm not even kidding 😅

Both. I have some original work here, but I always love to get a request for somwthing.

4) If you have requests how many do you actually have?

I have 16 in my inbox right now for my "300 follower celebration" 😁

5) How many fandoms do you write for?

A lot.. Triple Frontier, The Mandalorian, The Great Wall, The Mentalist, The Killing, Suicide Squad, Daredevil, Moon Knight. Soon there'll be Hanna (Erik Heller) and Peacemaker (Vigilante).

On a side blog I've written for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Warcraft... And some werewolf and minotaur stuff. Might as well let the cat out of the bag 😂

6) Are there any fandoms you used to write for?

Yeah, but nothing published. They are just laying on my laptop. I just recently started sharing my stuff.

So far I've only done reader inserts and OC's 😊

Okay real talk for a sec, loving the little mermaid au. Honestly anything I see of fandom Luca just…isn’t fun, they just flanderized him, he ends up not knowing anything and is empty headed. Idk I can’t explain it, but I’m just loving these Luca aus cause he actually feels like Luca.

First of all, thank you. I'm so glad you're enjoying the aus. I have so much fun talking with people about them. I feel like a lot of the credit goes to the anons, who come up with such interesting ideas, and who have so much passion and enthusiasm and joy for those ideas. And I'm so grateful that get to respond to that with my own thoughts.

In terms of the rest of what you mentioned, I have to say that I haven't actually noticed that from the blogs I follow. But I definitely think Luca definitely suffers from main character syndrome, where it's very easy to overlook his character and insert whatever you feel like into him.

To some degree, that makes him a really flexible character to put into aus, and you can do a lot of different things with him. But that also means it's easy to make him kind of bland.

And to be fair, sometimes Luca being empty headed can be really funny, right? Like, for a joke or a head cannon! Even thinking about the movie, there's that one scene where Giulia and Alberto are fighting. and Luca is just like o_o and it's really funny!

I could also see how that could get frustrating if that's all you're seeing out of Luca (that could also mean you might need to follow some new blogs to get some more variety!)

Switching gears a little bit here, to talk more about writing and writing Luca specifically --

to be honest with you, from the writer perspective, I found Luca to be incredibly difficult character to write. I know he doesn't really seem that way, but I had a lot of conversations with friends while I was working on my longfic, where we just talked about Luca as a character for hours, and I did several rewatches of the film where I just sort of focused in on him. How he reacts to things, what he tends to talk about, his body language etc. And it just took a while to get his character down to a place that I liked

And I also want to acknowledge that like.. I'm an older fandom person, who's taken professional writing workshops and who has writing published. I've spent the better part of the last ten years studying and thinking about writing craft. And Luca was hard to figure out!! I can totally see how other writers could look at Luca and feel like he's kind of bland and just want to use him as an audience projection kind of character, because that was how I felt for a good while too. I was really resistant in trying to understand Luca, because I just wanted to focus in on Alberto, who has some very obvious and interesting conflicts to play with.

That said, I really love writing Luca now. I feel like he's a fun, complex character to write. And, in the off chance that another writer/ creator sees this post and have felt a similar frustration with writing Luca--

These are some things that I try to keep in mind while writing him:

- Luca is incredibly curious. And he's willing to put himself at risk to pursue his curiosity (think about his first trips to the surface!)

- he's willing to do a lot for his friends, including risking his life and safety for them. He does it when he grabs Alberto from the net, and he also does it when he goes back for Giulia.

- related to that, I also feel like he's someone who's more willing to stand up for his friends than to stand up for himself.

- he's kind of impulsive (going to the surface, deciding to race alone)

- he's got a complicated relationship with his parents. They clearly love and care for him a lot, but sometimes go too far in trying to protect him. For Luca, he still loves them obviously. but I'm sure he deals with some trust issues, he might be slow to share important information with them, he might think about their reactions to something before he tells them, but also he enjoys spending time with them. their home is a place where he probably feels comfort/love/nostalgia for the most part. it's... complicated

- he experiences anxious thoughts. sometimes when I write him I give him an anxiety disorder (bc i have anxiety), but either way. Luca deals with thoughts that make him overly cautious and less confident. When I'm writing Luca, I'm also often thinking about what his inner monologue looks like. Where is he holding himself back? What incorrect assumptions has he made about others or himself? (In my fic one of those thoughts is "I don't deserve to prioritize my needs/ I can push aside my needs for others/ others needs are more important than my own." Even if I don't voice that thought out loud, you can see it in a lot of Luca's actions, like accepting to fake date two people at once even though both fake relationships put him in an awkward position)

- He gained confidence by the end of the movie, but that's likely something that fluctuates after the events of the movie

- He's someone caught between two worlds. That can cause of feeling of disconnect or like he doesn't truly belong anywhere.

Soooo yeah! I hope that list is a useful resource to some of you, and a decent answer to your ask. I know it was probably a longer response than you were expecting, but I have a lot of thoughts about Luca and writing and writing Luca lol. And I'm also really glad that you've been enjoying the aus! :)

So you’ve officially created your Tumblr blog. What now? In this post I’ll cover graphics and setting up your navigation! I’ll also mention what you should do before you start posting your own content or before you have content to post at the end!

Graphics!

Icons

Your icon is how most people will recognize your blog on their dashboard. An easy way to do icons is to use a manga cap or an anime screenshot! Alternatively there are people who make icons that you can find it by searching Tumblr, but please check whether or not these people require you to re-blog the icons you use or give them credit in your description! If you’re using art, make sure that the artist either gives you explicit permission to use it or has stated publicly that it’s OK to use their art. (please note that if the artist is OK with repost of their art they are generally OK with you using their art in icons but make sure you credit them!) PicCrew is also another popular source to make icons but make sure you credit the artist/link the picCrew!

Headers/banners

As far as using an artists work the same rules that apply for icons apply here! Either get the explicit permission from the artist or make sure they’re OK with their work being used for these things/being re-posted. Generally I don’t use work from the artist and I just use manga caps (which you can find just by googling or searching on Pinterest for [insert character here] manga caps)

You can search Tumblr for headers because there are people who make headers and other graphics. Just make sure you pay attention to peoples rules!

If you want to try your hand at making your own banners or headers. You can use Canva to make gifs and plain banners/headers. I personally use PicsArt to make my post banners. Mainly just because I can do it on my phone and can work on it really easily. Generally any photo editing app should work. PicsArt just has a lot of stickers and effects that can really pull together a banner.

Dividers

Once again there are people who make dividers on Tumblr! But you can also use PicsArt again to do your own personal dividers so they’re more custom to your blogs theme. Although it’s important to note that you won’t be able to do those super thin line dividers on PicsArt because there is a minimum pixel width!

(If you’re iffy on the size of things I’d actually advise you to download somebody else’s banner/divider and use that as a template for sizing!)

Setting up navigation!

Your navigation will be the place where the theme or aesthetic or color palette for your blog should really shine through!

(Edit: I forgot to mention this when I originally wrote this. But when I personally created my navigation I drafted everything in one very large Google Docs file. I recommend that you have everything with its links set up in a Google Docs file. Just because Tumblr has a habit of deleting posts and if you have it in a Google Docs file at the very least that auto saves and you have a back up.)

Your navigation should be broken into at least four parts! You’re about me, rules, master list, and tags (tags are optional technically but is a nice added touch). Remember this is not a Bible for what your navigation is supposed to look like, you can add and subtract to this general structure as you feel necessary!

About me!

Give as much information or as little information as you’re comfortable with. Generally you want to have your name or pen name, The pronouns you use and your time zone if you’re comfortable with it. Most people also have fun facts about them in there about me section. If you are a Black or Neurodiverse writer it’s good to have that also in your about me! A lot of people put their astrology stuff in there about me section, also the results of personality tests and things like that! This is also where you should put your BYF (before you follow) and DNI (Do not interact)

Rules

What do you put in your rules it’s really up to you. I’d advise you to look at a lot of other people’s rules to get a general idea of what you might wanna put in yours. The only thing you want to include in your rules is that you reserve your right to reject asks/request! Be sure to also include what characters you right for. Here are some things to consider in making your rules!

What demographics do you write for?

What demographics do you not write for?

Are you comfortable writing touchy subjects (things like eating disorders or self harm)?

Do you write NSFW content? Or do you cap it at mildly suggestive content?

How many characters will you limit per request?

Do you write Angst?

Do you write for ships or do you only write reader inserts?

Masterlist

Another portion of your navigation I would recommend you look at other peoples to get an idea for. There are tons of ways to organize a masterlist. The way you organize your master list will depend on the series you write for and the content you make. So look at the way people who run similar blogs to yours organize their masterlist.
