In news that will shock no one…
William Thomas, known to the world as Lia Thomas, made headline news when he was permitted to swim on University of Pennsylvania's women's team, break records, and win competitions. After some investigation of his social media accounts, it's highly suspected that he suffers from an abnormal sexual desire called autogynephilia.
William Thomas was ranked 462nd on the men's swim team before he decided to identify as a woman and call himself Lia Thomas. Soon enough, he was the fastest swimmer on the women's swim team at University of Pennsylvania and was even allowed to compete at women's meets, where he broke records and stole medals from hard-working female athletes. At the Ivy League championships, Thomas won the 500 free final by over 7 seconds. At University of Akron's Zippy International, he beat his teammate by more than 12 seconds in the 500 race. Later, in the 1650 freestyle, he beat a female opponent by 38 seconds.
Tumblr media
The more medals he won, the more attention he gained from the media and the more he was praised by trans activists everywhere. Thomas was even nominated for the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year Award (he was denied the award in the end). But the more that people dive deep into Thomas' social media use, the more it becomes clear to them that he suffers from an abnormal sexual desire called autogynephilia.
What Is Autogynephilia?
The simplest way to explain autogynephilia is when a man gets sexually aroused when he himself embodies a woman's characteristics, appearance, outfits, etc. YouTuber Red Moon RADio: Redfem Radio interviewed Masha Jagasdottir, an expert in childhood development and social services. Masha helped explain what an autogynephilic male is.
"First of all, it's a paraphilia. So that category of mental illness, mental distress—it's basically like a mapping error of internally experienced desire," she says. "To cut all the nuance away, it's basically a male-bodied individual who's mapped his entire sexual desire onto himself as a female. And the draw in that comes from the fact that it's the only woman that he'll ever be able to control completely, is his own body. So he wants the embodied feeling of suppressing and humiliating a woman."
Tumblr media
"It's really important for them to go out in public, in female spaces, because part of the thrill is watching other women have to swallow their disgust. It's a paraphilia that is absolutely in the same category as zoophilia and pedophilia," Masha continues. "These are actually deeply distressing antisocial paraphilias. It's dangerous for the self and dangerous for society."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This fetish has resulted in many men coming forward as trans, presenting themselves as women to the world, and insisting that they be accepted as normal members of society. It's impossible to know just how many men who call themselves trans women are actually struggling with autogynephilia. It's safe to say that many of these men are not actually trans but rather autogynephilic, and they find sick sexual pleasure in pretending to be women. Walt Heyer, a man who detransitioned after living as a woman for several years, suspects that the umbrella term "transgender" has inadvertently included many individuals who wrestle with autogynephilia, which he describes as "a condition where a man will dress up, look at himself in the mirror as a female, and the female he sees in the mirror becomes the object of his sexual affection."
Lia Thomas Is Suspected to Have Autogynephilia
Nicole Wawro, also known as @feministrecovery_ on Instagram, shared a wide range of information from Thomas' private Instagram account @liathimas, revealing that he has some very disturbing interests that all point to his autogynephilia (also referred to as AGP). She posted a 4-minute reel on Instagram sharing that Thomas announced on his private Instagram that he opted in for a surgery to castrate himself. Naturally, he waited until after the swim season at UPenn and after the FINA ruling said he wasn't able to compete on the women's team to get this procedure done. Thomas made the announcement using 2 cherry emojis next to a pair of scissors, clearly joking about (and even celebrating) the fact that he chopped his testicles off. However, while Nicole was working on the veracity of this story, she also found a lot of other information about Thomas that was greatly disturbing.
"Lia is smart. All the photos he posts of himself are squeaky clean," Nicole says. "However, the photos he likes, the photos he is tagged in by friends, and the accounts he associates with tell a very different story about a very different Lia."
His online activity strongly suggests that he gets sexually aroused by dressing up as a woman, which is a very common characteristic of autogynephilia. Nicole points out that he often likes photos about sexual fetishes of cross dressing, people getting together for trans orgies, and women getting beat up by men who identify as trans females. For example, Fallon Fox, the male MMA fighter who called himself a trans woman and broke open a female fighter's skull in the ring, bragged about it on Instagram, "Me on crushing women skulls." Thomas liked the post, along with another Fallon Fox post where he is doubling down on the fact that he beat another women to a pulp.
Tumblr media
Thomas also is seen liking posts about AGP, including a cartoon of an "AGP trans" person who is dressed up as a girl in a pink dress, and has an erection as he looks at himself in the mirror. This furthers the suspicion that he gets some kind of sexual arousal from cross-dressing. Thomas has also liked many other photos of men cross-dressing as women, as well as posts about "sexploration."
Tumblr media
Nicole even found that Thomas liked posts of his friends practicing paganism and Satanism, as well as pictures of crass pornographic cartoons. Apparently, Thomas has even shared photos of his own sex dungeon that he built with his boyfriend, complete with a wall of BDSM toys and kinks.
"If this was just about his personal life and his preference as a gay man and his fetishes, we would have just left it there," Nicole says. "But it's not. Lia represents what it means to be all-American. He has lobbied to be in the women's locker room on the basis that he feels like a woman, not because he has any sexual arousal. He presents himself as a squeaky clean athlete with no ulterior motive. But parents deserve to know there is a darkness about allowing any man into the locker room that claims that they just feel like they should be there."
Perhaps even more disturbing is the fact that less than 4 years ago, Thomas seemed to be living a normal life as a young man. He proclaimed he was in love with his girlfriend and he dressed and acted like a male.
Tumblr media
And now just a few years later, he shows a completely different story on Instagram, even if it's kept fairly private. But it's important to understand that autogynephilia is an abnormal sexual desire that manifests into a darkness that has infiltrated women's spaces, all under the guise of trans acceptance and compassion.

Doc Here
In a modern world, Tobirama would be nothing short of the best of the best of swimmers. A six time gold medal Olympic swimmer, going for another year and another three awards. Training from a young age, he went against his father's wishes to pursue political science as a future, instead turning to his love of the water. He was always a natural swimmer, but he began to take this sport seriously when he got into secondary school and was able to actually join a swimming team. It soon became apparent that he was meant for sprint swimming rather than endurance, and he began to train himself there.
And from age twelve to age seventeen he trained his body to compete, until he was nationally recognized as a record breaker. From there, he was chosen to compete on the Olympics team for sprint swimming, and on his eighteenth birthday, he won his first gold medal. He proceeded to win two more gold medals in that Olympic competition.
In celebration, he would get his three face tattoos, going against both his father and brother to get them. He was an adult and a world champion, he could do as he pleased, and now, here he was, at his third Olympics and days before his thirtieth birthday, ready to take home three more gold medals.

🦇 Perfect on Paper Book Review 🦇
❓ #QOTD What's the best advice you've ever received or given? ❓ 🦇 High school junior Darcy Phillips has a secret identity as the relationship advice expert behind Locker 89. Leave a letter along with $10 and she'll provide the perfect solution to your relationship woes. So far, she hasn't been caught...that is, until Alexander Brougham catches her collecting letters. He'll keep her secret...if she can fix his relationship post-break-up, that is. Can Darcy help Brougham win his girlfriend back (without strangling the entitled, rich, yummy-Australian-accent-slinging swimmer) in the process?
💜 Perfect on Paper was nominated for a Goodreads Choice Award (Best Young Adult Fiction - 2021) and it's no wonder. This was the exact book bisexual baby me needed a decade ago. Though I've read a multitude of books featuring bisexual FMCs, Sophie Gonzales is the first to capture the authenticity of internalized biphobia. I'll admit I was sheltered enough that it took me a while to realize bi was even an option for me. Bisexual erasure didn't help; once I self-identified, I was given the oh-so-cliche, "that's not real," and "it's just a phase." Bitch, I'm a moon goddess; I'm in a new phase every day of my life. ANYWAY. Darcy is authentic in her concern that a crush over a guy invalidates her bi-ness. The Queer & Questioning Club scene where Darcy's community validates her was everything (and truly got me misty-eyed).
💜 The advice column aspect of the story was brilliant. Darcy's letters are written in a tone that's patient and empathetic yet informative and encouraging. She'd obviously done her research and it shows, but you see her mentally unravel the moment there's personal bias and it's BEAUTIFUL. Darcy isn't perfect. She's a high schooler, still figuring herself out. Yes, she's flawed, but she's also self-aware, willing to grow and change and take her own advice (or the advice she gets from her AMAZING trans big sister, who I adored).
💜 While this is a queer YA romance, there are so many layers beyond that. There's a mixed bag of diversity and personal trauma (and with that, potential for growth) to explore.
💙 The story DID take a minute to pick up speed, so the beginning left me waiting for a catalyst for momentum. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I'm no a fan of the miscommunication trope. HOWEVER, it does fit here, and proves how easily a tiny moment of misunderstanding can completely alter the course of a friendship. I did have to put the book down at one point, when Darcy's best friend outs her (I was super frustrated on Darcy's behalf because that betrayal was intense). I was disappointed that no one stepped forward and THANKED Darcy for her advice when she was getting attacked as the person behind Locker 89. People were upset BEFORE their letters were taken, but no one thanked Darcy until LONG after the situation cooled. Given Darcy's self-proclaimed success rate (was there a mention of HOW she knew she was successful, beyond the lack of refunds?), I expected a lot more praise for her abilities beyond one person.
🦇 Recommended to fans of Leah on the Offbeat and Imogen, Obviously, with a hint of To All the Boys I've Loved Before and Netflix's Sex Education.
✨ The Vibes ✨ 💌 Bisexual FMC (w/ Internalized Biphobia) 💌 Queer Young Adult Rom-Com 💌 Lots of Rep 💌 Hate-to-Love 💌 Friends to Lovers 💌 POC Sapphic Side Ship
💬 Quotes ❝ "Do you think there’s a chance that [...] you’re intellectualizing things so you don’t have to, you know, feel them?" ❞ ❝ I was sitting in the space between a sound and its echo. Brougham had asked a question, and I had to answer it. It was that, or keep dreaming about love, and working toward helping others find it, while never letting myself risk it. ❞ ❝ In some ways, we mirrored each other. We shared cracks in complementary places. ❞ ❝ Bi people are part of the queer community, and their identity does not change depending on who, if anyone, they happen to have feelings for or date at any given moment. ❞

continuation of my post about the losers as competitive swimmers with some of my reddie headcanons because sports are just another avenue for them to piss each other off (flirt with each other) <3
they're about 17/18 in these and they're both taking the sport very seriously (looking to get scholarships for university) but they still find ways to make it fun :)
they have the same best race (200 IM) and they're very evenly matched in speed which means they're almost always in the lanes right next to each other for the 200 IM. i think they have a very overblown (but friendly) rivalry about it and they're constantly going back and forth who has the best time between them. they'll touch the wall so close to each other that they can't tell who won and richie can't see the timing board (no glasses) but he always knows if he beat eddie or not based on eddie's response to seeing the board. they grin like idiots from in the water at each other whenever either of them gets a best time.
richie is SO BAD at breaststroke he does it wrong and its going to screw up his knees so badly and eddie keeps trying to correct his kick and he'll do it right for one or two kicks and immediately revert back to his weird cursed version. eddie is convinced richie's doing it to spite him because he can't possibly actually swim like that all the time, but for once richie is actually just like that and not trying to piss eddie off. also this makes richie incredibly flustered because eddie will just. grab his legs to make him do the kick right and richie's just there drowning.
they always make team building exercises a NIGHTMARE, laser tag? its a fight to the death now. bowling? richie keeps intentionally doing the most absurd throws (but somehow managing to get strikes and spares) just to get on eddie's nerves. it always eventually devolves into a wrestling + screaming match.
there was an air hockey table at one of the hotels they stayed at for a travel meet and the other losers had to come down and drag them to bed so they wouldn't stay up late before the race. richie kept doing weird shit to distract eddie, which eddie claimed was cheating, but richie said was fair game since he wasn't interfering with the table, eddie still wins.
they've been banned from sharing a lane during social kick since they kept getting into arguments and blocking the lane.
eddie always gets up early at travel meets to get ready, whereas richie is the type to stay in bed until he has five minutes to get ready (which shockingly works for him) and eddie's over here fretting and richie's grumbling at him to turn off the light, and eddie's so mad when richie gets out of bed with five minutes to spare but is still ready before eddie (he was so focused on trying to get richie up)
eddie is disgustingly good at running for a swimmer (swimmers are not allowed to be good at running. its unnatural). richie is about as good as god intended swimmers to be at running (so to say bad), if it's not an intense training period eddie will hang back with richie to encourage him (with lots of swearing)
during their last year on the team richie gets eddie to dance with him at the awards banquet, he tries to pass it off as a joke but is so nervous he flubs it horribly and eddie realizes he's being earnest. they're both terrible at it and by the time they figure it out the song ends and moves on to a decidedly not romantic tune.
richie walks on deck barefoot and eddie loses his mind over it. it makes him so unbelievably mad, and the worst part is that richie never catches anything so eddie sounds like he's making stuff up but he is not (seriously guys he isn't, don't go to public pools without footwear!!!)
eddie has a really bad panic attack one time during a 200 fly (his goggles come loose and fill up with water + just the general exhaustion of that race making him feel like he's drowning) and richie can tell by his stroke and breathing pattern that somethings weird (this is not that strange btw, i could identify teammates i hardly spoke to by their shoulders, you just kind of get to know these things about people when you swim with them for so long) so he goes to meet him at the end of the race and helps calm him down even though he's racing in like 5 minutes lol, when eddie realizes this he snaps out of it immediately and shoos him away to go race.
they'll go to the tozier household after races and eat insane amounts of food. at first went and maggie were concerned but they eventually came to accept that feeding two swimmers is like feeding six regular people.
when richie's holding eddie's legs during sit ups he'll make kissy faces at eddie every time he completes a sit up (they're so stupid)

I can't not make a Clone High au
Tumblr media
Marinette: Clone of a peasant turned royal tailor from ancient China who created fabulous garments for royalty and received praise for her work until her untimely demise when the jealous wife of the emperor poisoned her food
Adrien: Clone of a former beloved Parisian mayor from the 70s who won the hearts of all with his charisma, good looks, and natural charm… Then he got assassinated after he signed a bill to allow gay couples to adopt
Nino: Clone of a famous Moroccan director who gained recognition from his first short film which he shot in his home town. He made a name for himself, traveled, and won many awards, but then died in the 70s after someone drugged him… Because it was the 70s
Alya: Clone of a young runaway slave from Martinique in the late 1790s. She taught herself to read and wrote several books detailing the effects of Code Noir on her home. She was soon found and killed just five years before slavery was abolished. Her books were published decades later and shed some light on Martinique’s struggle
Nathaniel: Clone of a Jewish man from the 1930s who escaped the concentration camp when he was twenty and went into hiding, boarded a ship, and made it to America. He made his living as an artist, and was free to express his religion and tell his story when the war ended up until he turned 68, and died of a heart attack
Alix: Clone of a pro skater. Being female and Arab made her the target of a few choice words from competitors and spectators, but she rubbed her wins in their faces until her tragic “accident” at one event in 1978. Some jackass tampered with her wheels, and Alix landed in a horrible way. Fortunately, the asshole was arrested
Kim: Clone of a champion Olympic swimmer from the 50s. He took home gold twice and was ready to win his third gold medal. Right as he got in the water, shots rang out. A bullet hit his leg, and he sank to the bottom of the pool. (A jealous competitor resorted to drastic measures)
Max: Clone of a teenage genius from the early 70s. People thought he’d change the world with his brilliant mind. He even won a Nobel prize. The world probably would have been improved had it not been for the tragic lab fire
Juleka: Clone of a Romanian noble from the 1600s accused of kidnapping and draining young women of their blood to retain her youth. One night, the villagers stormed her manor and set fire to everything, even going so far as to lock her inside
Rose: Clone of a celebrated singer from the early 50s known for her pink rockabilly style. She died in her sleep when she was 83, and by that time, she had written over sixty songs
Ivan: Clone of a famed poet/song writer. He lived a pretty peaceful life, never got in any fights, attended protests organized by marginalized groups, and even wrote a book. He died peacefully in his sleep when he was 100
Mylène: Clone of an well known actress/activist who was protesting companies dumping lead into urban neighborhoods. Her words got their attention, but instead of being decent human beings, they poisoned her as a threat, but ended up killing her in 1978. To this day, those ass-bitches got away with it
Sabrina: Clone of a secretary from the 50s who had just about enough of her male colleagues treating her like less than the gum on the bottom of their shoes. She got up in the dead of night to paint their cars pink, filled their cars with women’s undergarments, and spiked their coffee with vodka. The cop was gonna let her off easy, but she demanded to be arrested… She shouldn’t have said that, because on their way to the prison, the cop car got t-boned bad
Chloé: Clone of a young aristocratic woman who was accused of killing her parents in cold blood in the 1800s. While she was acquitted of the charges, people still believed her to be a murderer, and she lived with that title all the way to her death
Lila: Clone of a scorned Italian woman from the late 1800s who sold out her village to a mob boss to live a life of luxury… And she did for about five weeks before one man from her village sought revenge for what the mob did to his family and shot many, including her
(Next Gen Clones)
Marc: Clone of a French writer and playwright from the 1800s whose stories mainly consisted of queer protagonists… Then he got arrested because being gay gets you in trouble in Europe during those times. He lived to be 102, and made out with so many guys in secret
Denise: Clone of a young enby from the 1960s who was part of Operation Pedro Pan to help Cuban youths escape from Castro’s regime when they were seventeen. They made it to America, faced some bigots, wrote two books detailing their life from Cuba to America, and advocated for the rights of Cuban citizens until they got sick and died in 1999
Simon: Clone of an Irish Catholic from the 1600s who hid with his family during Oliver Cromwell’s invasion and attack on the Catholics. They were going to escape together as a family, but his asshole parents left him to be killed at the hands of Cromwell himself. Prior to that, he wrote in a journal explaining the unfair treatment toward the Irish in great detail and it was soon published upon discovery
Ismael: Clone of a famed escape artist from the early 1900s. He performed all sorts of death-defying tricks until he performed one he didn’t survive- The escape from the water-filled tank trip… He forgot to hide the key on his person
Reshma: Clone of an Indian-American woman who lived a well off and made a name for herself as a fashion mogul. She used her influence to speak out against injustice against queer people and bring attention to current events in India. She died in her sleep when she was 70 in 1992
Jean: Clone of a beloved actor from the 1800s, most known for his “satirical” roles as women when really, he just likes wearing dresses, but they don’t gotta know that. However, someone found him making out with another man and killed him in his dressing room
Lacey: Clone of a famed spelunker. She has several museum wings named after her due to her discoveries, and became moderately wealthy. She continued exploring caves until her 50s when she slipped and fell into a crevice in 1978. The only thing that remained of her was a video camera with her final words
Aurore: Clone of an investigative journalist from the early 1900s reporting the abuse of conversion therapy victims. She was set to publish her story and expose the people behind the practice until she was photographed kissing a woman and dragged to a facility. Fortunately, one of her most trusted associates published her story and she was freed due to public backlash and threats against the facility. She died when she was 79
Mireille: Clone of a boxer from the 1920s who won many competitions, stole the hearts of a few women, and was on her way to greatness until a party got just a little too crazy, and she “fell” of the balcony after an encounter with an ex
Cosette: Clone of a Civil Rights activist from the 1950s who has been arrested several times for protesting. They publicly spoke out against the blatant racism in the country, and because of this, they were a person of interest for the government. She would’ve exposed the cameras and microphones she found in her home, but got into an “accident”
Zoé: Clone of a New York heiress from the early 1900s who ran off to join a rebel group that provided resources for the poor… By stealing from the rich. She hasn’t been caught once and eventually eloped with a woman five years before her death in 1997
Clone High is in Paris, secretly being run as an elaborate military experiment orchestrated by a government office called the Secret Board of Shadowy Figures
In 2003, the school is entirely populated by the clones of famous historical figures that were created and raised with the intent of having their various strengths and abilities harnessed by the military for a project called, Operation: Mighty Eagle. And one day, they will have them take over the world
One night, during a dance where everyone was in attendance, the teachers flash froze the clones to keep them out of the board’s evil hands, and the board eventually forgot about them
In secret, but they made new clones in 2007, and raised them during the twenty years that they were frozen, making the clones all roughly the same age after the Gen1 clones were unfrozen to resume Operation: Mighty Eagle
Due to being frozen for twenty years, the G1 clones are so far behind, have missed many important events, and have to learn what they can’t say that was okay in the 90s, but wrong to say now
Chloé is very put off when she realizes she’s no longer popular by today’s standards and instead, Nathaniel, Max, and Juleka are
Mme. Bustier: So, how’d the kids take it when you told them they’ve been frozen for twenty years?
Mme. Mendeleiv: Oh, I think they handled it very well.
*Earlier*
Mme. Mendeleiv: For anyone who thinks it is 2003… You are wrong!
Clone Kids: … *Freaking out*
Nino: *Holding up a cellphone* WHAT IS THIS?! *Points to a laptop* WHAT IS THAT?! *Points to Kim’s sneakers* WHAT ARE THOOOOOSE?!
Mme. Mendeleiv: It’s not 2015.
Marinette: This isn’t real! I’m dreaming!
Alya: The world is so warm!
Adrien: Guys! Guys!… Blockbuster is gone!
Rose: NOOOOO!!
Chloé: WHERE IS DESTINY’S CHILD?!
Max: There was a brother in office?!
Nathaniel: I CAN’T HANDLE THESE SUDDEN CHANGES!
*Later*
Mme. Mendeleiv: … Yeah. They’re fine.
M. Damocles: Here to help get you all acquainted with the future is the most popular clone and the the most conventionally attractive by today’s standards in the school.
Chloé: Finally!
M. Damocles: Chloé… Please move out of the way so everyone can see Marc Anciel, your class president!
Marc:
Tumblr media
Chloé: Who?!
Marinette: He’s what?!
Kim: He’s a guy?
Nathaniel: I don’t care what he is, but I am smitten!
Alya: *Holding up a cell phone* Okay, and this is a…
Aurore: Cell phone.
Alya: How is it different from my telephone?
Aurore: For one, it’s lighter, and you can take pictures of yourself.
Alya: … No… Way!
Adrien: You know who's gonna get canceled? Kim. You should have heard him back in the day. That guy's always saying stupid things.
Kim: I like men and woman of any shape or size!
Aurore: Wow, a bi Himbo.
Kim: *Laughs* No, I’m not a biathlete.
Jean: Refreshing honesty.
Mireille: So uninhibited.
Ivan: How can you stay so calm when the world is so warm, animals are dying, children are dying, everyone is dying, and so many wars are happening now?! You see it all on your weird telephone!
Cosette: Eh, I just channel all my anxiety into something meaningful. Like traumatizing white parents with lessons on how removing critical race theory from history books will mess their kids up.
Nino: Ismael, what gives you the confidence to be so good at skateboarding, and magic, and chilling?
Ismael: I don't know, Nino. Guess it's just hard work and practice.
Nino: Hard work and practice? Sounds like a fool's errand; You're stupid, Ismael. We tried practicing, but we failed.
Isnael: Did y'all try practicing a second time?
Nino: Oh, let me guess. "'Cause practice makes perfect."
Ismael: No. There's no such thing as perfect. Practice makes progress.
Nino: That's a dumb saying. You're dumb. This is dumb. Everything's dumb. But, okay, we'll try.

Day 4: Evelyn Irons!
Evelyn Irons, born in Glasgow in 1900, began her journalistic career writing for the beauty page of the Daily Mail; she had no interest in makeup and was quickly fired as “unfashionable.” Undaunted, she joined the staff at the Evening Standard, writing and editing the women’s pages and enjoying literary society - and the company of Vita Sackville-West, with whom she had a brief affair.
In 1935, she was the first woman to be awarded the Stanhope Medal after saving a drowning swimmer, but it was two other events that decade that most shaped her life. The first was meeting Joy McSweeney, her lifelong partner; the second was the start of WWII. Evelyn informed her boss she was leaving the women’s pages for the news department, and set off as a war correspondent. Her exploits would eventually win her a Croix de Guerre; she witnessed the liberation of Paris and hiked through the snow to Hitler’s just-abandoned “Eagle’s Nest,” where she helped herself to a bottle of wine. After the war, Evelyn and Joy moved to New York, but Evelyn continued her wide-ranging journalistic career. Famously, in 1954, she was the first reporter to cover the American-backed coup in Guatemala- she broke the news embargo by hiring a muleteer to sneak her across the border.
She died in 2000, at 99 years old.

this is me bsing my way through diving instructing after watching an amazing hindi movie.(if yk what the movie is i love you) Since it's canon that Frankie can swim and Pedro himself is an award winning swimmer, i thought of an AU where Frankie is a part time diving instructor. This fic is self indulgent. as person with a horrible fear of water, i dream of someone like frankie helping me get over it, so enjoy :D not proofread it's 11 pm here. also the timeskips are pretty weird as i wrote it in the same way the scene played out in the movie.

The beach wasn't so bad.
The beach was warm, the sand grounding.
You made your way to the deckchair with your bag and made yourself comfortable as your best friends, Aish and Imran ran to the sea and splashed in the water. They were real water babies, the siblings.
You smiled at them and settled into the chair, pulling out your book and opening it to your last read page when you turn right,
Oh my god, that man.
He's laughing at something the guy next to him said, and his curls shake as his head falls back and conveniently exposes his neck. He's wearing an opened shirt with shorts and the aviators make you want him more.
God stop staring like a creep, genius.
You try to read subtly but your eyes drift to where he is every ten seconds and you bite your lips when he shrugs of the shirt to reveal a tan body, a broad as hell chest and a softening tummy that makes you almost drool.
He walks over to the shore and jumps in the water like it' his bed after a long day, he's clearly an experienced swimmer. Not something I'll ever be, you scoff. The very idea sending a shudder through you.
Aish and Imran are walking towards the seats you've saved for them and she grins, "Want to take a dip?"
"Looks cold." you answer with a wry smile and Imran chuckles, "I'm going to get some ice cream what do you want?"
They tell you what they want and you walk over to the concession stands. There's a long line and you scroll through your phone to pass the time when you're suddenly knocked over by the guy in front of you and you fall back.
There's a split second of terror and you're flailing your arms around you like some maniac and then you're being held up from behind. The man in front of you apologized profusely and you nod before turning around to thank your savio-
Oh shit. It's him, it's the guy you were staring at, and he's looking at you with concern. His hair is wet and slicked back and his eyebrows are furrowed.
"Are you okay?" his voice is soft and calming.
Speak "Yeah, yeah i am thank you so much, I'm so sorry." you stand up straight and rub your neck awkwardly.
He smiles and nods, "No problem at all, ma'am."
And he's polite, "Please, don't call me ma'am." you give him your name and he repeats it, the word rolling of his tongue like water off a duck's back.
"Lovely name, I'm Francisco, but people call me Frankie."
You hold out your hand, and he grips it softly, "Nice to meet you, Frankie."
The line has moved forward and there's only a few people before it's your turn when he says, "What kinda ice cream do you like?"
"I just like chocolate, anything with chocolate on it." I'm getting a few more for my friends, though." you smile, "You?"
"Butterscotch." he smiles guiltily, "And yeah same here about the friends thing."
You're about to answer him with a jab about being the mom of the friend group when the person behind the counter gently gets your attention.
A few minutes later, you and Frankie are walking side by side with a lot of ice cream and a blond guy with an impressive beard comes up to him, "Thanks, Fish." he takes the rest of the ice cream and smiles at you before leaving and you look at him with furrowed eyebrows,
"Fish?"
"Oh my callsign when I was in the army was Catfish, so they call me Fish." he explains as he licks his butterscotch cone.
Your gazing is interuppted with shouts of your name as Aish jogs over, her hair flying in the wind.
Why does she look like she's in slowmotion?
"Re, Imran is dying for ice cream, I'll take these?" she takes them from you and eyes Frankie with a smile before winking and walking back.
"She seems nice." he says.
"She is, Aish has been my friend since college. She's actually getting married, so the three of us, her brother, her and I just came for a trip here."
"That sounds lovely, how are you liking the place?"
The both of you are walking around on the sand in no clear direction and you're able to see Imran grinning wildly, "It's really pretty. There's no beaches where I stay so its sort of a treat."
He smiles and nods, "My friend Will, the guy who came over, says that beaches are where your heart is happiest. Sounds stupid but I agree. The water is one of my favorite places to be in."
"I guess he's right. My heart fees pretty happy right now." he looks at you and you smile a little when you see his face is a bit flushed, "Would you join me, later, for a drink?" you take a risk.
He looks remorseful, "I'd love to, I really would, but I have to wake up early tomorrow, I'm so sorry."
You nod, "I understand, it's okay, don't worry about it."
He looks to where his friends are calling him, "I hope I'll see you again?"
"I'll be at beach pretty often so yeah."
He smiles before leaving and you can only stare at his figure before going to where Aish and Imran are sitting.
"Your ice cream's melted, duffer." Aish laughs.
You look her in the eye and lick the ice cream of your fingers one by one. It's petty but it works.
`````
"So! I have signed us up for deep sea diving tomorrow." Imran says as he takes a bite of his food.
"What?" your fork clatters, "Imran, what?"
"I know you're scared of water, but it's perfectly safe, I promise. I did all my research."
You purse your lips, unconvinced.
Aish speaks up, "Please, think about it. The calm water, fish around you, all the aquatic beauty, it's life changing!"
"You don't have to do it if you're uncomfortable but please, think about it no?"
You shake your head at his puppy eyes, "I'm going mad. Fine."
The both of them jump in happiness and Aish kisses your cheek, "Thank you thank you thank you i love you."
You wave her off and take a sip of your water. Tomorrow's going to be a long day.
```````````````
It's just a little pond, the water looks pretty. It's not even the ocean, it's a calm little quaint pond right next to the sea that's meant for training.
And you're just staring at it with disdain.
Aish rubs your shoulders comfortingly and Imran is dabbling his fingers in the water.
The three of you came a little early in hopes of you getting acquainted with the water and so far it doesn't seem to be helping.
A pleasantly familiar voice rings out behind you, "Uh, is Imran here?"
You whirl around to find Frankie looking incredible as he introduces himself to Imran and Aish, "You're our diving instructor?"
"Hi." he waves shyly.
Once introductions are made, Imran speaks up, "Frankie, you don't need to know how to swim right? You see she can't actually." he gestures to you.
You look down and have to restrain the urge to strangle Imran.
"No, you don't have to know to swim, it's fine." he replies and you look up to see him looking at you with a smile, "Don't worry."
You seat yourselves on a few rocks next to the lake as Frankie begins explaining the different signs and instructions, like up, down, air gauge and the works. He does it all with such care that you can't help but be more attracted to him.
The next day, you're all in your wetsuits and gear and he gestures to get in. Aish and Imran jump in but you gulp and look at the deep water. It suddenly looks menacing and dark and not like a quaint little pond.
Frankie hold out his hand and you take it, "You'll be okay, trust me."
You nod, and without a word, jump in.
Time goes by slowly as the three of you get accustomed to the water. You can hear your heartbeat and your ears are ringing. You close your eyes and try to drown out your own fears, but bit by bit, your breathing slows and the death grip you have on Aish's shoulder loosens.
``````
The day after that, Frankie takes you all to a different area of the beach to go underwater.
Before you get in, he looks at you and grabs your shoulders, "You're going to be okay." he nods as you look at him and squeeze his hand.
The water's a bit cold and everything seems big and it's as if you're being slowly suffocated. You look around and at Frankie in front of you and at your breathing apparatus.
You're not able to think coherently, you see that he's gesturing to it and his own but all you do is shake your head and he pulls you closer before taking it out and placing his own in your mouth. You take it in greedily and he puts his fingers up to slowly count to three before taking it back in and breathing as you look around and again breathe out in panic, your arms starting to flail.
Again, he takes it out and you take it in and he points at your eyes and his own, look at me.
He raises his palm to tell you to breathe in and his eyes are calm. You breathe in, looking him in the eye and taking the thing out of your mouth as he uses it himself and again breaths in.
The water around you feels calmer, and it's like only the two of you are here, in this little bubble as he gives the apparatus back to you and put it in your mouth and breathe in the nitrox.
You can see the approving nod and small smile on his face as he takes it back and breathes in, looking at you intently.
You still feel out of place, but you're not scared. It's calmer now.
````
You're in a boat, and the boat is going out to sea. Where you're going to have to jump into deep waters and swim around with oceanic life around you.
Imran is sitting opposite you and he raises his eyebrows before smiling. He knows how you feel, "You'll be okay."
You can only mimic his impression and nod.
As the boat slows, Frankie looks at you, "You're life is about to change."
You give him a half smile, "That's only if I don't die."
He laughs, "You won't. I trust you."
Again, you jump in and the water's a shock for a few seconds as your eyes are sealed shut. But then you open them and breathe in.
And it's beautiful.
It's blue and red and yellow. And it's small and intricate and huge at the same time. You swim downwards and look at the schools of fish, the coral, the rocks.
How could you have ever said no to this?
Franke gestures to a small underwater cave and holds out his hand to you. You take it and swim beside him into the dark space.
The torch in his hand shines upon the aquatic life and you can only stare in wonder as he leads you inwards and shows you more. He's excited to show you, you realize and you want to hug him, everything be damned, because it's because of him that you're able to do this. All you do is squeeze his hand and he rubs his thumb over your fingers.
You both swim out of the cave and towards each other, and you're in awe at how peaceful he looks. It takes you back to day you say him jump into the ocean like he belonged there, and it's as if he does. He does belong here, at peace, among this beauty. He takes your hand in his and his eyes express what he's trying to say. His beautiful, lovely eyes that bore into your own.
For the first time in a long time, you feel alive.

Becoming Better
.
The runner doesn´t run just to be the fastest.
and the painter doesn`t paint for the greatest award.
And the swimmer doesn`t swim just to come further.
No story gets told just to be the greatest.
.
Does really everything have to become better to be good enough?
Further, faster, higher, so it finally will be enough?
Tell me how can you get better if it is so difficult to be yourself?
Only when you laugh,
when you laugh the idea strikes your mind:
It couldn`t be better than that.
.
Trust grows in you without looking at other people,
Your love, it loves without a "because" and a "why".
And all the pictures of us don`t need an altar,
because our fortune never asked for a meaning or a reason
And all doubts fall silent.
.
Does really everything have to become better to be good enough?
Further, faster, higher, so it finally will be enough?
Tell me how can you get better if it is so difficult to be yourself?
Only when you laugh,
when you laugh the idea strikes your mind:
It couldn`t be better than that.
Only when you laugh,
when you laugh the idea strikes your mind:
It couldn`t be better than that.
.
More listening, more giving
More "we" and more living
More staying, more sharing
Showing more heart
Sometimes less is more
And winning is another game.

My Love,
Not a day goes by without you making me happy. Every morning you delight me with your expressions of love. Every day you take me in your arms. Every day I feel your love and every day we laugh together. Every day I see your beautiful eyes. Does everything have to get better? For my part, I am happier than ever before. And it's all because of you, my Liebling. You make every single day beautiful for me and therefore my whole life.
I love you deeply Adelle ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ 🌈

NUVO MAGAZINE | Noah Reid on Switching Gears and Making Adjustments
Writer Josh Greenblatt | Photographer Ted Belton
From Schitt’s Creek to a Broadway debut, the screen and stage actor is now pouring his emotions into music. When Noah Reid appears on our video chat, he’s sitting in what looks like the prototypical New York apartment with a gallery wall obscured by lush monstera plants. The Toronto native has been staying at a friend’s place in Queens during his run in the Tony-nominated Broadway show The Minutes, which has earned rave reviews, though Reid ignores them. To his right sits the cover of his third album, Adjustments, which features boarded-up storefronts, an image of a period marked by immense change. “During the pandemic, the visual texture of neighbourhoods changed so much,” Reid says of the inspiration behind the eerie album art. “So many businesses that didn’t make it through, the boarded-up stores, they became part of the tapestry of the streetscape, certainly in Toronto, and I’m guessing in a lot of places.” He wonders what happened to the owners. “If you had to close your business, where would you go? What would you do?”
Reid starting writing songs for the album, the follow-up to his sophomore effort, 2020’s Gemini, before the pandemic, but when the world locked down, his Gemini tour was cancelled. It was just a month before the final episode of Schitt’s Creek aired. The beloved sitcom became a cultural phenomenon, winning a record number of Emmy Awards plus a Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Ensemble, and made Reid a star as Patrick Brewer, the love interest to Dan Levy’s character, David.
Noah Reid was photographed in Toronto this past June, while on a trip to his hometown from New York, where he is staying during his run in the Tony-nominated Broadway show, The Minutes.
Lockdown was an intensely creative time for Reid, if a trying one. “I was staying up way too late and just couldn’t differentiate the hours of the day,” he says, his casual approach to making music allowing him to hone his voice without the noise or pressure of a major label. Recorded live at Toronto’s Union Sound Company and produced by Juno Award nominee Matthew Barber (who also collaborated with Reid on Gemini and his 2016 debut album, Songs from a Broken Chair), Adjustments came to life over a series of sessions with musicians including Bahamian guitarist Christine Bougie and Great Lake Swimmers drummer Joshua Van Tassel. The result is an intensely personal, emotionally raw examination of our new, uncertain reality. “Everyday,” the effervescent album-opening lead single, encapsulates Reid’s headspace during the making of the album. “I wrote that song in the early days of the pandemic, when I’d look out the window at this park that’s usually full of kids and families but now was totally desolate,” he says. “It came from a feeling of being forced into a sort of loneliness and not really knowing what to do about that.”
Reid knows his genre of music isn’t exactly made for radio play. Alt-rock isn’t the most culturally relevant right now, he says. “I’m not trying to write hit songs. I just am writing from my own perspective.” Unlike in Hollywood or on Broadway, where producers, development executives, and casting directors determine actors’ fates, having full creative control over his music is paramount. So what is Reid’s perspective? “Finding that undercurrent of adjustments,” the artist says. “Sometimes the adjustment is about kind of letting go of what you can’t control, and sometimes it’s about trying to try to put a better foot forward.”
Noah Reid’s latest album, Adjustments, is an eight-track disc of smooth alt-rock.
Reid, 35, was born in Toronto to visual artist parents and began performing in local theatre productions as a young boy. A sensitive kid with energy to burn, he sang in his school choir, played on sports teams, and did typical extracurricular activities. But at the same time, he says, “I was going off and doing these other things that felt special and creative,” for which he sometimes felt isolated from his peers—feelings he explores on the song “Left Behind.” He originally thought the song was about the end of Schitt’s Creek, he says, but now feels it has more to do with “deeper-seated feelings of being left out of things or moving through different groups of people when you’re involved in these casts.” He and Levy remain close. “We had so much stuff together, and that became a real foundation of a really loving, trusting friendship,” Reid says. “And you know, that on-screen partnership, we had to really rely on each other and build that trust with each other. A lot of projects, I’ve taken a few friends with me from each thing, and Schitt’s Creek, it’s just that special thing where if I’m in the same place as any of those people, that’s a terrific day for me.”
Noah Reid knows his genre of music isn’t exactly made for radio play. Alt-rock isn’t the most culturally relevant right now, he says. “I’m not trying to write hit songs. I just am writing from my own perspective.”
A graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada, Reid is a rare example of a child actor who made it to the big leagues. His disarming sincerity recalls the wholesome affability of his Schitt’s Creek character. “I don’t consider myself famous,” he says. “I know some famous people. They live differently from me.” Recently, in New York, Levy asked him how he’s been handling his new-found celebrity after the premiere of The Minutes. “That guy can’t walk down the street,” Reid says of his famous friend. “I can walk down the street, and maybe people are, like, ‘I know you from somewhere.’”
Despite his current stardom, Reid has found his fumbles more meaningful than his successes. “I think some of the best moments in my life have been when things professionally weren’t working out,” he says. “And I found things that grounded me—relationships and an understanding that you can contribute to the world around you and your community in ways that don’t involve people clapping for you or inviting you to fancy parties and stuff.” This healthy remove from Hollywood excess feels like a more honest place to make music audiences can relate to, which is more important to Reid than commercial success or industry praise. Not that they are irrelevant, but “now, interestingly, professional success is abundant, and it’s a hard time to focus on it because I’ve got other family matters that I value more deeply,” Reid says. “And so that kind of balancing act can be really tricky.”
As his run in The Minutes ends, Reid is adjusting to his new gig: fatherhood. And he’s approaching it like he has everything else that’s come his way: with a level head and grace. “I’ve always had a sense that rolling with the punches is important, that things are going to come and go,” he says. “I don’t get too high, don’t get too low, just be chill. Take what comes and try to do what you can with it. There’s always another day. If that thing doesn’t work out, there’ll be something else.”

One more awards show down. We next have the SAG Awards (Feb. 26th), the Independent Spirit Awards (Mar. 4th) and the Oscars (Mar. 12th).
I must say if we get these exact same winners for the major category at the Oscars I would be very happy.
Except for score. If Justin Hurwitz doesn't win an Oscar for the BABYLON score I tear the Dolby down.

An Israeli team of artistic swimmers won the gold medal on Friday at the 2023 European Games in Oswiecim, Poland, near the site of the former Auschwitz concentration camp.
The 11-person female team took home the top honor in the team free routine combination finals, marking Israel’s first-ever European gold and second European team medal overall, according to the European Games. The team swam to the theme of “Modern Spanish Dance” and became European champions with a score of 248.6083, while their performance was also awarded the full Degree of Difficulty (DD) of 35.0.
Israeli Olympic Association Chairperson Yael Arad, who won Israel’s first Olympic medal in 1992 in judo, noted the symbolism of Israel’s historic gold medal win near the site of the Auschwitz concentration camp, where nearly 1 million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust.
“There is nothing more symbolic than standing with your head held high and singing [the Israeli national anthem] Hatikvah just 10 minutes from Auschwitz,” said Arad, according to Israel’s Channel 13. She added that the whole team had “tears in our eyes.”
“We promised to carry the memory of our Jewish brethren and that is what we are doing,” she noted.
Germany won the silver with a score of 163.3205 for its “Monster Party – Greetings from the Addams Family” routine and Turkey took home the bronze medal with a score of 135.7999 after swimming to the theme of “The Rhythm.” Only three countries participated in the finals.
While this year’s European Games are officially being held in Krakow, the aquatics competitions took place at the Aquatics Centre in the city of Oswiecim, where the former Nazi concentration camp is located, which is now the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum.
“We were very focused before the competition as we knew we had a chance to win this event and that gave us huge motivation,” said Israeli swimmer Shelly Bobritsky following her team’s gold medal win. “We were really determined, felt the energy in the water so I think our swim was quite good. We wanted to catch the judges’ eyes, do our best and we just did that. It was so nice to hear our national anthem played at the end.”
On Sunday, a smaller team of Israeli artistic swimmers won the bronze medal in the team free finals at the 2023 European Games, which is taking place from June 21 to July 2.

National River Day
These winding natural pathways, carving through the earth, play a vital role in sustaining diverse ecosystems and human life.
Given that rivers have been a vital part of human activity for millennia, it’s about time that these flowing bodies of water got a day where they are given the love and appreciation they deserve. National River Day is here to bring some attention to the benefits that rivers continue to offer humans and also to remind people that rivers are natural resources that need to be taken care of!
History of National River Day
Bodies of fresh waters, especially rivers, have been foundational in the development of human civilization. With the necessity for people to live very near a water source, the flow of rivers has often been one of the most important factors in determining where a family or larger community could settle. Providing a supply of steady drinking water as well as opportunities for keeping crops watered and even allowing for transportation and trade.
Sometimes quiet and sometimes ferocious, rivers offer not only sustenance for life, but they also provide opportunities for outdoor recreation. From fishing and canoeing to white-water rafting and stand-up paddle boarding (SUP), rivers can be sources of entertainment, exercise, and just a heap of good old fun! Just be sure to treat the water and the area surrounding the river with respect by protecting it from pollution and misuse.
Today, due to various issues including climate change and human interference, the water sources of the planet, including oceans, seas, lakes and rivers, are becoming compromised. Through pollution or by simply drying up, many of the world’s rivers are less healthy and less bountiful than they were even just a few years ago.
National River Day has been established to raise awareness about and show appreciation for the vital, life-giving source that rivers all over the planet!
National River Day Timeline

How to Celebrate National River Day
Pay some respect to the rivers of the world on this important day! In celebration of National River Day, show some love and get involved by implementing some of these ideas:
Learn About the World’s Rivers
Get excited and involved with National River Day by getting educated about some of the most interesting rivers in the world. Raise awareness for this important day by learning and sharing some fun facts in person with friends and family, or on various social media outlets.
Check out some of these fascinating facts about rivers to get started:
Found in North Africa, the Nile river is considered to be the longest river in the world, measuring more than 4,100 miles long, flowing through eleven different countries. The Amazon river comes in a close second, at 3,977 miles.
In 2007, a Slovenian born marathon swimmer, Martin Strel, swam the entire Amazon river – complete with crocodiles, piranhas and more.
Rivers that run over cliffs eventually lead to stunning waterfalls. The highest one in the world is Angel Falls in Venezuela, measuring 3,212 feet high.
Rivers not only provide sustenance for humans, but thousands of different varieties of animals, plants, and at least 10,000 different species of fish.
Organize a River Clean Up
An excellent way to get involved with National River Day would be to grab a group of friends or some members of a volunteer organization in the community and head on over to a local river to do some cleaning up. Equipped with garbage sacks, trash sticks and rubber gloves, this would be a great time for a group of folks to spend some time picking up trash, debris, and litter. This is particularly important in regards to items made of plastic that will never biodegrade and can even be poisonous to the water source and the animals that depend on it.
Watch a Movie Featuring a River
Show some love to the life-giving rivers of the world by checking out a movie or film that features one. Get started with one of these:
A River Runs Through It (1992). This one features Brad Pitt, playing the son of a rural minister (Tom Skerritt), where they spend time fly fishing on the river.
The River Wild (1994). This thriller starring Meryl Streep and Kevin Bacon takes place almost entirely on a whitewater rafting river adventure.
Riverdance: The Animated Adventure (2021). Kids and adults alike will enjoy this animated film which teaches an appreciation of this dance as a celebration of life.
Green Days in the River (2014). This coming of age tale tells the story of a boy in a 1952 village who struggles with poverty, love and life.
Make Some Sustainable Water Choices
One of the best ways to get involved with National River Day might be to make some choices that will help to reduce the use of water personally and in the local area. Check out some of these important ways that households can live more sustainably and conserve water:
Install Low Flow Shower Heads. Use less water by installing modern shower heads in every bathroom in the house. It’s possible to save up to 3,000 gallons of water or more each year!
Collect Rainwater. Those folks who live in places where they need to water their garden or lawn can save on water by collecting it in a rain barrel and then using it as needed. Folks in Colorado or Utah may want to check with local legislation first to see if this is permitted.
Turn Off Faucets. Instead of letting the faucet run in the bathroom while brushing teeth or in the kitchen while walking over to the refrigerator and back, shut the water off every single time.
Save Water with Flushes. A new dual-flush toilet or a conversion kit for a current toilet allows less water to flow for flushes.
Join a Conservation Group
Many different conservation organizations are working to keep rivers clean or to clean them up after they have been polluted. They advocate with government agencies and companies to change laws that work to protect natural areas, including rivers. In honor of National River Day, join in by volunteering with a local group.
Those who feel like celebrating this unique waterways at another time of the year should look into World Rivers Day, which takes place in late September.

Bleeding Memories
Today is Yom Ha'Shoah (Holocaust Day).
And I wrote something (tw: holocaust. Mention of dead ppl *including kids* , and their memory.)
You're five years old, and your Ballet-class dance to a voice singing: "wait until you grow up, you were often told/A tall man and a short woman/ If you won't eat, you'll never grow up/Good boy leave an empty dish" (It would take years before you fully understand that). You are seven, and your mom won't let you read That Book. (You take it when she isn't home, read about death and darkness and hope). You read a lot during the next years. (It's written in your DNA). There's a siren and you think about People turn to numbers Numbers turn to bodies Bodies turn to ashes (to ashes). (You never really cry). It doesn't matter that your family already been here when it happened (In the book of people in your family, keeping records of ten generations, there are chapters thin as paper, summarised: "Fruma, 1940-1943, Auschwitz" ; "David, 1915-?, Trablinka" ; "unknown, 3 daughters of-" (Do you know their names? Do you remember?)
My great-grandmother To her dieing day, Never believed her sister is dead "She was an award-winning swimmer!", She claimed. (Or so they said) What difference can that make With two children? It's a familiar story: overcrowded ship meets a direct bomb. Old, laconic papers filled with names, ages, a description, maybe- (Don't forget) "Victiom's first name (also nickname): Adele. ||Approx. age at death: 5|| Relationship to the victim (family/other): Other (you fill the papers for your family and friends. You fill it for the people you know knew. You fill it for the woman who laid next to you in the cold cabin, who cried as she told you about her daughter. You fill one for the daughter, too, even if all you can put is "Girl, daughter of Esther, approx. age at death: 4, Dachao". "I had a cousin, she had 5 children. I can't remember the names" "Name: Her Father's name was David? Or Dov?" "There was a family. I don't remember their names. But they lived in the apartment next to mine when-" (Remember) In 2017 my parents spent a vication in Slovakia. The Airbnb owner was excited to hear they are jews, and had planty of helpful advices: "Oh, you're Jewish? So, you're probably going to visit Auschwitz?" When I was in 11th grade, I didn't go to the Poland Journey. My mother did go. There are prime locations you must see- The children's forest, in Tarnow. (700 Jews returned, after- Or tried. They were harassed away. No one left now. It's 100 less then the amount of kids' skeletons, laying in the woods). 2023, a Tumblr post says "I support Jews, this is a safe place" get the following replies: "Heil Hitler" "Seig Heil" "No thank I no like jews" "The first holocaust happened in Africa. What happened to Jews was just why white on white violence. Who cares" ... They are right. Who cares?
It's about the need to feel safe - but can you? It's about a blood stained history, where we can't even count or name all the times our people were butchered and slaughtered. (And we've just been through Passover) It's about a long list of names and dates and deaths. (Not even mention my personal list of names and faces. Just to name a few: Shalhevet, Hadas, Efrat, Eyal, Gilad, Naftali-) It's about generational trauma, written in our DNA (Hide. Run. Live). It's about 1943 Jewish in (not yet) Israel making plans what to do if (when) Rommel will arrive [where will you run?], It's the 1950-60s and european being called weak, and "why didn't you fight?" ( Why did you go like lamb to the slaughter?). It's the 60-70s, and North-African being told "you're lying" when talking about concentration camps and forced workers in Libya, Tunisia, Algeria ("But my MOTHER was there!") It's about everyone we forgot - because everyone who ever knew them is gone. (It's about the remains: One-from-town, two-from-family, a cinder saved from the fire). It's about remembering, Remember and never forget. Who cares? (I do)
