More Halloween costumes!! They’re all kind of meshing with each other. Coconut is a princess, Azuki is Prince Phillip, Dill is a dragon, and Laurier is Sleeping Beauty. I saw like three different colors for sleeping beauty pink blue and purple, but Lauriers colors are blue so I just went with that. Idk maybe he looks like Elsa but he isn’t Elsa. It probably would’ve helped if I remembered the little crown thing lol.

let me espresso my love, again {j.yunho} [part 2]

Tumblr media
It was a good day, a good sun morning as she woke up from her deep slumber. She leans on her arm as the sun kisses her face, and an arm weighing her down, she looks over her shoulders to see Wooyoung still fast asleep, “Woo~ wake up, we still have work.”
Her husband's eyebrow frowns, opening one eye, “Work? At the cafe?” This time it was her who had brows furrowed, “Yes because you have to work on Yunho’s .. “ As she spoke, Wooyoung's eyes snapped open and slowly rose from his position.
“.. love story .. please don’t tell me you forgot about his ending?”
Wooyoung gave her a close eyed smile which she knew so well, her eyes twitching before reaching over for her pillow and smacking him. He squealed, dodging her attacks.
“It’s been 4 months and 4 months is equivalent to 4 years! They’re suffering you dumbass!”
“I’m on it jeez woman!”
Tumblr media
Opposite to the sunny day, Yunho walks down the drench road with his transparent umbrella as rain pours down the sky of Japan. The water drops effortlessly on his umbrella, resembling how his tears would stream down the corner of his eyes only to wipe it off with his brown coat— the coat you have given him.
Even if it has been 4 years, Yunho never moved one; not even once, a fling cannot remove the thorn in his heart so he lived on his new life with it. Who knows, maybe someday it will be forgotten and he’ll get used to it.
As he strolls past a cafe, his nose is hit with a whiff of freshly baked matcha bread. The aroma, so specific and comforting, stopped Yunho in his tracks. It was a scent he hadn't encountered since he moved to Japan, a memory that flooded back with the intensity of a tidal wave. He could practically taste the pillowy softness, the subtle bitterness of the green tea, the sweetness of the azuki bean paste that often accompanied it.
A pang of longing shot through him. It wasn't just for the bread; it was for the small, cozy cafes tucked away on side streets, the murmur of conversations in Seoul, the feeling of belonging he'd almost managed to cultivate in those four years. The thorn in his heart, a constant dull ache, seemed to throb a little more insistently.
How he missed those days. How he missed you.
But Yunho was no stranger to burying his emotions. He took a deep breath, the air crisp and cool against his lungs, and forced himself to move on. He wasn't in Seoul anymore. He had a new life here, a routine he'd painstakingly built. A single whiff of bread wasn't going to unravel it all.
Except, his traitorous feet had other ideas. They propelled him towards the cafe, a small, unassuming establishment with a hand-painted sign that read "Hoshizora Pan". Hesitantly, he shuts the umbrella and leaves it outside as he pushes open the door, a soft chime announcing his arrival.
The interior was warm and inviting, filled with the aroma that had initially lured him in. It wasn’t crowded, not even a single person except for a young woman— with a bright smile stood behind the counter, dusting powdered sugar onto a tray of what looked suspiciously like matcha bread— is the only person inside the shop. Yunho cleared his throat, the familiar ache in his heart momentarily overshadowed by a strange mix of nervousness and anticipation.
“Is the cafe open?” He asked quietly, the lady nodded, walking towards the pastry, “Yes, normally in a weather like this, there are at least 20 persons here but I guess they chose to stay inside.”
The lady placed a croissant and a matcha cake on the table and gestured for Yunho to sit down, which Yunho found a little bit odd as he hadn’t placed an order nor he picked one. The lady noticed his confusion and assured him. “You were my first customer, I don’t want to treat my customers unwelcome, here sit darling.”
She pulled out a chair and as Yunho sat down, it was as if he was transported back to Seoul. The chair, the aroma and the soft buzz of the cafe— Cafe Love. His tears were back in his eyes as he looked down on the food on the table, it was exactly what he ordered when he first met you.
The lady softly placed the espresso beside the matcha to which Yunho burst into tears. It may be unruly and uncivil looking for Yunho to cry in public but with the emotions bottled up for so long, the dam broke. The sight of the matcha bread, a simple comfort from a life he'd tried to outrun, shattered the years of carefully constructed walls. Tears streamed down his face, hot and unchecked, as a lifetime of longing, grief, and buried emotions poured out.
The lady behind the counter, startled at first, quickly recovered. She was expecting it and so she set down a box of tissues beside the matcha bread and espresso, her expression one of gentle concern. There were no words,  no intrusive questions, just a silent understanding that resonated deeply within Yunho.
He took a shaky breath, wiping his face with a handful of tissues. Shame threatened to bubble up, but the woman's quiet kindness held it at bay. He mumbled a broken apology, his voice thick with emotion.
"No need," she said softly, her voice like the tinkling of wind chimes. "Sometimes, a taste of home can bring a lot of things up."
Her words were simple, but they struck a chord within him.
     Home.
It wasn't just a place, it was a feeling, a sense of belonging. And for a fleeting moment, sitting there in the cozy cafe with the scent of matcha bread filling the air, Yunho felt a flicker of that long-lost feeling.
“Home …” He thought about you, his home. How are you? Were you still working at the Cafe Love? Have you moved on? Those questions lingered in the back of his head.
Hesitantly, he picked up the matcha bread. The warmth seeped through the paper, a comforting sensation. He took a bite, and the familiar bittersweet flavor flooded his senses. It wasn't just the taste; it was the memories – lazy afternoons spent in cherry blossom parks with you– smiling, chasing each other, picnics by the river han, and quiet mornings with a steaming cup of tea in your apartment with the sun blazing behind you, like a halo.
Tears welled up again, it was his fault things ended. It was his fault and he deserves what is happening to him. Karma.
“If you’re thinking that it’s your fault and you deserve this? It’s not.” A voice called out, Yunho slowly looks up, brushing off the tears, “W-what?”
The same lady gave him a reassuring smile, sitting on the opposite side of him, “Love comes in different forms. Love ends on a different note. People learn and move on but people choose to stay and rebuild things. Love can be a choice, an option but love never left us.”
Yunho glanced at the espresso, “But why do I feel pain?” She reaches over to pat his hand, "...it's because you still believe the love story deserves a happy ending, the kind you envisioned," the lady spoke gently, her touch surprisingly warm. Her gaze held a quiet wisdom, one that seemed to see right through Yunho's carefully constructed walls.
Yunho stared into his espresso, the dark liquid swirling like a storm of emotions within him. Denial, anger, and a deep, aching loneliness had been his companions for so long, masquerading as acceptance. But her words, spoken with such unwavering conviction, chipped away at the dam, threatening to release the torrent of unresolved feelings he'd kept bottled up.
"I..." he started, his voice hoarse, "I thought I had to move on. Forget everything, the pain..."
The lady offered a small, knowing smile. "Moving on doesn't mean forgetting. It's about carrying the memories, both happy and sad, as part of your journey. The pain is a reminder of how deeply you loved, how intensely you felt. It's a testament to the beauty of what you shared."
Her words resonated within him, a seed of hope taking root amidst the desolate landscape of his grief. Maybe forgetting wasn't the key. Maybe acknowledging the love, even the pain it brought, was a way to finally begin healing.
He looked up, a flicker of curiosity sparking in his eyes. "What do you mean, 'love never left us'?"
The woman's smile widened. "Love changes form," she explained. "It evolves, it shaped you, taught you valuable lessons. It's still a part of you, a piece of the intricate tapestry of your life."
Yunho contemplated her words, a newfound sense of understanding washing over him. Maybe love wasn't just about grand gestures and happily-ever-afters. Maybe it was the quiet moments, the shared experiences, the impact one person leaves on another's soul.
He took a tentative sip of his espresso, the bitterness a reflection of his past, but with a hint of sweetness, a promise of a future where he could learn to carry the love, not as a burden, but as a cherished part of his story.
But with all the wisdom gave to him, his heart still yearns for one more, “But what if I still want to go back?” His eyes glaze in hope as the lady smiles, a warm one, “The past is a beautiful place to visit, but we can't live there forever.  Sometimes, going back isn't an option, and sometimes, even if it were, it wouldn't be what you remember."
Her voice held a gentle honesty, a reminder of the realities of time and change. Yunho felt a flicker of defiance, a desperate hope that maybe, just maybe, things could be different.
"But what if..." he started, then stopped, struggling to voice the impossible wish in his heart.
The woman saw the yearning in his eyes. "It's okay to wonder," she said softly. "But sometimes, moving forward is the answer, to learn and to grow— to reflect and it also comes from accepting what was, cherishing the memories, and allowing yourself to open your heart to new possibilities."
Her words struck a chord within him.  The idea of new possibilities, of love taking a different form, was a seed he hadn't dared to plant.  For so long, he'd been fixated on the past, on the love he'd lost. But what if there was more out there, a love story waiting to be written, a new chapter waiting to begin?
He looked down at his matcha bread, the warmth and comfort against his cold fingers. Perhaps, the woman was right. Maybe going back wasn't the answer.  Maybe the future held something even more beautiful, a love story yet to be discovered.
With a newfound sense of resolve, Yunho took another bite of the bread. The bittersweet flavor lingered on his tongue, a reminder of the past but also a promise of the possibilities that lay ahead.  He smiled, a small, genuine smile that crinkled the corners of his eyes.
"Thank you," he said, his voice filled with a newfound lightness.  "For the bread, for the coffee, and for the reminder that love can take many forms."
The woman returned his smile, a knowing glint in her eyes. "You're welcome," she said. "Just remember, the heart may yearn for the familiar, but sometimes, the greatest adventures are found on paths yet untrodden."
He and the lady argue about paying but the lady is stubborn and threatens him that he will be banned from the cafe which results in the lady’s victory. As Yunho picks up his umbrella to leave, the lady calls at him again.
“Yeah?” He turns around to look at the woman, she smiles, “Just a note to what I said, past is not a place for love, the future isn’t also supposed to be the choice to grow, it’s the present. Love does win all because love is all.”
The next day, Yunho felt amazing. The sun began to shine again, the place was lively once again and Yunho decided to visit the cafe because he suddenly craved another cup of espresso. He brought a transparent umbrella in case it rained again, the newscaster isn’t always accurate with his reports so he learned to bring an umbrella all the time.
As he took up the stairs, located in the bustling city of Tokyo,  Yunho was surprised to hear a sob. He noticed at the other side of the railings, a woman in a long gray coat squatted down, wrapping her arms around her knees, burying themselves on their knees.
Just then, the clouds hid the sun behind it and started to pour down. Yunho slightly panics and opens his umbrella and rushes towards the lady. His Japanese was slightly rough but at least he can speak a conversation or two, “Ano~ Are you okay?”
Tumblr media
If you were gonna be honest, life wasn’t okay. Not even the past 4 years of your life inside the cafe love and decided, maybe it is time to move on and let yourself heal for a while. With a resignation letter and a heavy heart, the whole staff— which you consider as your family— gave you a hug of encouragement and motivation. It was hard leaving the place you love to grow and a place you found love but growth is part of moving forward. But you are moving forward, to look for someone to share your espresso again.
Jeong Yunho
Just the name sent a fresh wave of nausea crashing over you. 4 years. 4 measly years since he made a closure. His voice is as smooth and forgettable as the lukewarm espresso he always ordered.
Closure? You will take that, you accept his closure and apology. You are ready to take another step forward in healing. This time, you’re gonna look for him and let love win all the pain you both went through.
As you soon realize after you step out of the airlines of Japan, you did not know a place or a thing in this country let alone a person that can help you find Yunho.  A wave of disorientation washed over you.
The bustling energy of the airport, the melodic announcements in Japanese, the flashing neon signs advertising unfamiliar products - it was all a sensory overload.  Excitement battled with a rising tide of panic.
Unlike Yunho who'd spent years building a life here, you were a complete outsider.  You didn't speak the language, didn't know the city layout, and worst of all, you didn't have a single shred of information about where to begin your search. Taking a deep breath, you forced yourself to focus. Panicking wouldn't help. You spotted a tourist information booth and pushed your way through the throng of people.
"Excuse me," you began, hoping your fractured Japanese would be enough.  "Do you speak English?"  Relief flooded you as the attendant nodded patiently.  Explaining your situation, you learned there were online resources for locating people in Japan, but they required a Japanese resident number – something you obviously lacked.
The attendant, sensing your growing despair, offered another option.  There was a local community center known to help foreigners navigate life in the city.  It was a long shot, but it was a lead.
Armed with a map and a renewed sense of purpose, you set off, vowing not to let the language barrier or the sheer scale of the city deter you.
The community center hummed with activity.  You found a volunteer willing to translate your story to a group of older Japanese women.  They listened intently, their faces etched with a mix of curiosity and concern.  While they couldn't offer a guaranteed solution, they did offer something even more valuable – a network.  One woman mentioned a friend who worked at a local newspaper, another suggested a private investigator specializing in missing persons.
Suddenly, your mission didn't seem so insurmountable.  You had a starting point, a glimmer of hope.  Over the next few days, you became a whirlwind of activity, following every lead, leaving messages, and plastering Yunho's name (carefully translated) on flyers at local cafes and shops frequented by expats.  The city, once overwhelming, became a battleground in your search.
Exhaustion gnawed at you, and your nose caught a whiff of coffee beans, your head turned to the side to see a cozy coffee shop— something that resembles the one back in Seoul. The coffee shop is named "Hoshizora Pan". You were tired from going around the city so you took this chance to recharge.
As you enter the coffee shop, you were a little bit hesitant to take another step as the whole shop is deserted except for someone familiar on the counter, “Wooyoung?!”
Wooyoung jumps from the voice but relaxes when he finds out that it was you. He gestures for you to enter, “Long time no see, darling.”
“Is this where you guys are living now, you and your wife?” He nodded, pointing at the small frame of him in a blue suit while his wife wore a peach-cream ball gown wedding dress. Your brows furrow at the color that resembles the characters you were familiar with but did not speak one bit about it.
“Anything in mind?” You look at the pastry, everything is tasty until it settles on the matcha bread. The bread that Yunho loves.
“The matcha bread is our best seller, you have to taste it.” Wooyoung scoop up the bread and place it on a plate and serve it to you on the table. You settle down, glancing at the matcha and the espresso. Your eyes whirl with so much emotion but you blink it off.
“How have you been?” He asks softly, not wanting to overwhelm you. Your body relaxes the moment the bread melted in your mouth, bringing you back. Home. As if the food was the trigger to your tears, you found yourself sobbing as your the home-sick hit you like a tidal wave, the longing of coming back home to your apartment and to the cafe.
A warm hand settles on your back, “Things will be okay …” You shake your head, swallowing the piece of bread down before you gasp as the pain in your heart was finally released, the burden and the home-sick syndrome, “No it’s not. I don’t know what went through my head to just get up, pack my things and go here in Japan to find Yunho without any clue about this damn country. I don’t even know where he is!”
Wooyoung understood where you were coming from and his heart leaped at the thought of you looking for Yunho, looking at love again, “I think that is brave of you to find Yunho despite encountering the biggest obstacle to find him.”
“I— It is so not me to do this but here I am, looking stupid for not even thinking this through.” Wooyoung shakes his head, disagreeing with what you said, “Love does that, it makes you act impulsively, that is because you follow your heart.” He leaned back on his seat, looking at you softly, “Maybe in this generation, love isn’t well appreciated as it was back then but you can only understand it as it is your story, of writing what is love to you.”
You look at Wooyoung, “I still love Yunho?” Wooyoung chuckles, ruffling your hair.“You still love Yunho, period. You went overseas to find love, you searched to find love, you cried and stood up again for love.”
You look back on the matcha and the espresso, “But why?” Wooyoung thought through, “Because the past is not a place for love, the future isn’t also supposed to be the choice to grow, it’s the present. Love does win all because love is all.”
“Have you thought of giving up?” You shake your head, that is the least option you had in your head. You came a long way to find him and you are not giving up, “I see that you did not and that is love. You wanted to do it again but in a different chapter, in a different form.” Wooyoung ruffles your hair, “Just remember, love is a journey, not a destination.” He got up and went back to the kitchen, leaving you in silence. Your mind was jumble with thousands of possibilities, doubts. You sigh, things were not going great and you do not want to have yourself sprialling down further.
As you thank Wooyoung and his wife from the treat, you walk out of their cafe with a light chest, it was somehow reassuring to see Wooyoung again, it also felt home as he feed you his espresso drinks. You walk the silent night street, as you thought about your situation, you flew weeks ago, you have been looking for Yunho for the last almost 3 weeks and half yet no result, but the thought of giving up was unthinkable.
You love Yunho, you have always love him; it may be too late for you to fought for your relationship before he step out of the coffee shop; not it wasn’t. You have always believe that there are things must happen on a right time and you held on to that fate.
Until this evening, your phone buzzed.  It was the woman from the community center – the friend with the newspaper connection had a lead.  A name. A neighborhood. Your heart hammered in your chest as you realized this might be it, the culmination of your frantic search.
And it was just around this area!
Tumblr media
The next day, you got up and prepared yourself as you stumbled inside your room to look at least decent in hopes of meeting him after 4 long years and weeks of searching. You bid the elder ladies as you rush outside and towards the location you receive that night.   The familiar street stretched before you, but today, every landmark held a renewed significance.  With each step, your heart hammered against your ribs, a frantic drumbeat keeping time with your racing thoughts.
The location scrawled on it was all you had, a single thread in a tapestry of unanswered questions.  Yet, it was enough to fuel your determination, to propel you forward on this journey that had consumed you for so long.  The weight of the past four years pressed down upon you, but laced through it all was a sliver of hope, a fervent belief that today, your long search would finally end.
As you run up the flight of stairs, your phone buzzed making you halt on your tracks. You pull out your phone and to your dismay, it was a text from the community center– apologising to you as they mistaken sent you a wrong address, destroying the hope you last held onto. For a moment, you stood frozen, the world spinning around you. The carefully constructed image of your reunion dissolved, replaced by a crushing emptiness.  Tears welled in your eyes, blurring the already faded message on the screen.  Four years of relentless searching, of dead ends and dashed expectations, all culminating in this cruel twist of fate.
Tears streamed down your cheeks, pain choking you as you crumbled on the stairs, squatting down as you finally let go the las tstring of hope, determination and suddenly— your fate. You have only went this far because you love him. The weather wasn’t on your side today as it started pouring; nothing was on your side the day you started looking for him, it keeps leading you in nothing despite the multiple hands to help you look for him but it’s like the world did not want you to see your happy ending.
That was until you realise what you just said, ‘You love him’, your breath steadies as you collect yourself, you love Yunho. You love Yunho that is why you never stop believing in fate to let you lead back to him. This wrong address wouldn't break you. You had come too far, endured too much, to give up now.  Taking a shaky breath, you wiped away your tears, the sting a harsh reminder of your resolve.
“Ano~ Are you okay?”
Maybe it is time for both of you to forget the past, maybe this is the time, the present, where a love story is waiting to be written for the both of you, a new chapter waiting to begin. A new beginning for the two of you, it doesn’t always need to be a new book, a new paper, a new pen to move on. It is the chapter that was saved just for the two of you to write again.
You slowly look up, the familiar voice of the person you have been searching for, the 4 painstaking years of yearn of his warmth, love and affection that you crave to bring back to you. Through your blurry tears, your eyes caught the sight of Yunho.
Both of your breaths hitched like forgotten melodies, suspended in the air as your eyes met. Raindrops clung to his transparent umbrella, mirroring the glistening tears tracing paths down your flushed cheeks. The brown coat you recognized instantly, the one you gifted him years ago, hung damply on his frame. A silent testimony to the passage of time, yet the familiarity of it sparked a comforting warmth in your chest.
You rose up from your position, never breaking eye-contact with him, “Y-Yunho?” HHis own shock gave way to a soft smile. Witnessing your breathtaking features, even damp and disheveled, filled him with a kaleidoscope of emotions. This was the woman he dreamt of, the love that time hadn't diminished.
You could no longer help it as you stride towards him— despite the red railings of the staircase and him being on the other side of the stairway— you threw your arms around his shoulders. Your embrace engulfed him, a whirlwind of emotions and years of longing compressed into a single moment.
Taking him by surprise, the umbrella falling from his hand as he caught you in his arms, “I have not and will never stop loving you, Yunho.” You spoke breathless as you the tears continued running down your cheeks— this time a happy tears, joyous about finding him through the painstaking days of searching, tumbling and close to giving up.
Yunho chuckled, a wet, shaky sound that mirrored the tears now tracing his own cheeks.  He cupped your face, his touch both familiar and new, gently brushing away the rain and your tears.  "Neither did I," he confessed, his voice rough with emotion. "You were always here," he tapped his chest, "always in my heart."
Just like the kind lady Yunho spoke to, ‘The greatest adventures are found on paths yet untrodden’ and what Wooyoung told you, ‘Love is a journey, not a destination.’ Your lovestory was a long journey to learn, to reflect and to understand that love comes a long way to bring people together. Fate is another story that you have to learn, it comes in a right time.
You chuckled, his face, etched with the lines of time, held the same warmth you remembered.  With a gentle touch, you traced your finger along his cheek, a gesture both intimate and familiar.  "You've gotten older, Yunho," you teased, the playful glint back in your eyes.
He mirrored your smile, a playful glint of his own returning.  "And you," he countered, leaning closer until your breaths mingled.  "You've only gotten more beautiful."
The world around you faded away, the rain a mere backdrop to the symphony playing in your hearts.  In that moment, the years of searching, the wrong turns, and the crushing disappointment melted away.  All that remained was the undeniable truth whispered on your lips, a truth that echoed in his answering gaze.
"I love you," you murmured, the words carrying the weight of a thousand unspoken confessions.
Yunho's response was a silent promise, spoken in the way he held you close, the way his thumb brushed away a lingering tear.  He leaned in further, his lips brushing against yours.  "I love you more," he whispered, his voice husky with emotion before crashing his lips to yours.
And with that, under the soft curtain of rain, your love story found its new chapter.  A chapter not defined by the past but brimming with the promise of a present written together.

Note
You know those cheesy pasta dishes with all the fancy add-ins like heavy cream and garlic so we can all pretend to ourselves that we aren't just eating mac and cheese like overgrown children? What sort of equivalent dishes do the people of Tamriel enjoy, that are basically just dressed-up "kid food" dishes?
Who doesn't love a cheeky meal that brings back memories of childhood? Across Tamriel, you'll find all manner of simple, hearty foods that will make you feel like a kid again!
Altmer
In Summerset, young and old alike enjoy mochi, a tasty sweet snack made from chewy glutinous rice flour. Mochi comes in many varieties, with fillings like sweet peanut or black sesame paste. However, almost everyone's favourite is a cold mochi filled with soft gelato of various flavours. My favourite combination is matcha mochi wrapped around a moreish azuki bean ice cream centre.
Argonians
Is there anything that makes you feel more like a kid than some snacking? Argonians are huge fans of anything that packs a crunch, both sweet and savoury. Whether it's spicy and sweet crickets, dark saltrice sauce-coated mealworms, or just good old prawn crackers with some dipping sambal, be prepared to snack your way all day long in Black Marsh.
Bosmer
If you're one of those people who stands in the kitchen gnawing a block of cheese at midnight, you're in good company in Valenwood. A popular late-night treat served at street food vendors across the Province is a simple cup of grilled witchetty grubs slathered in timber mammoth cheese sauce and topped with pulled pork. The grubs are meaty in flavour, and the pungent timber mammoth cheese complements the pulled pork when mixed all together, as the locals enjoy it.
Bretons
Pain au chocolat? Yes please! These deliciously buttery puffed pastries are essentially rectangular croissants enveloping delicious dark chocolate. Served warm, they're sure to make any breakfast or teatime a happy one! To really satisfy those chocolate cravings, pair with a classic Breton hot chocolate, complete with marshmallows and whipped cream.
Dunmer
Marshmerrow cake is the ubiquitous Dunmeri dessert that has gained popularity far beyond the borders of Morrowind due to its mild flavour and unique candy aroma. A soft sponge cake, which is sometimes soaked in comberry brandy, is layered with sweet marshmerrow crème patissiere, caramelised marshmerrow crumble, and maraschino comberries. Sure to knock some years off your age and put a couple more holes in your belt (it's impossible to stop at one slice. Source: me).
Imperials
There's nothing quite like homemade gnocchi with ragout for Imperials when it comes to comfort food. While this homey dish is prevalent across Cyrodiil, every household cooks the dish differently. In mine, my mother pan-fries the gnocchi in an obnoxious amount of butter, and tops it with her top-secret slow-cooked lamb and red wine ragout. While I cannot give away the secrets to her ragout, I highly recommend trying this delicious dish a try when you need to warm yourself, body and soul.
Khajiit
If you think you can turn away cinnamon and cardamom churros with a cup of moon sugar caramel dip, you're deluding yourself. This delicious treat can be found across Elsweyr and is considered one of the Province's most famous foods. Khajiiti churros, which are made from a mix of rice and tapioca flour, have a moist and chewy texture beneath a crisp, golden brown outer layer. They're served hot from the wok, with a cup of moon sugar caramel syrup. A truly divine pairing!
Nords
Spätzle is something I've written about in the past, and it's one of the best things I know (ask any resident of Skyrim and they'd tell you the same). These chunky egg noodles may look unrefined compared to Khajiiti vermicelli, but make up for it when liberally doused in a creamy cheese sauce and topped with fried onions. I like spicing mine up, quite literally, with some chili powder I purchased at a Sentinel bazaar.
Orcs
Nothing screams comfort food (and mess) quite like a good old echatere sausage hot dog. The echatere sausage, rather akin to Blackwood chorizo in flavour, is grilled over hot coals and served in a sourdough bun, served Wrothgar style with a good amount of horseradish mayo, fried radish chips, caramelised onions, pickles, and crispy dried baby shrimp topping. I'd say you can't stop at just one, but it's a hefty meal you can eat with one hand!
Redguards
I have probably written about gulab jamun in the past, a delicious, albeit cloying dessert popular throughout Hammerfell. An iconic dish at festivals and parties, gulab jamun is prized by dessert-lovers for its velvety, syrupy texture. These fluffy balls of cardamom-scented cottage cheese are fried and soaked in a fragrant saffron and rose water syrup, and topped with crushed pistachios. So simple, so good, and so moreish. Just be sure to stop at three, because any more and the sugar rush will send you to Aetherius!

Die Vampire laden zum Tanz
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I dressed as my favourite musical for the musical party at the end of September! My favourite musical is Tanz der Vampire (Dance of the Vampires) and of course I had to incorporate my Witches' vest into the outfit (because obviously) and red accents & accessories for a blood theme. My new red hair bows went well with that!!
Me and two friends (one doesn't want to be included in pictures) visited the musical party event held by the theatre company. They celebrate known cult musicals and introduce the new musical, that will be introduced this season. We got a sneakpeak for "Rock me Amadeus", a musical based on the life's story of one of Austrian's most famous rock stars Falco! After having lots of fun at the musical event we went to a nearby Japanese restaurant and had the most delicious food. Spy my yummy 3 courses: vegetable gyoza for a starter, green ramen noodles and a melon pan with azuki ice cream for dessert.
Outfit rundown:
- hair bows from Claire's
- red short- sleeved t-shirt (second hand for free)
- black lacy blouse over the t-shirt (second hand for free)
- handmade vest/ gilet
- handmade pointy black skirt (I randomly made this skirt a couple years ago in a spur of the moment. It's amazing!)
- black tights and booties
- black shoulder bag with red details and pentagram (forever in my collection) [there's also a black bat plushie hugging the bag but you can't really see that in the pictures]
[image description]Picture 1: Two young, white women posing together. One is thin, the other is fat. (I'm the fat one). Both have brown hair and wear it in two braids, though the thin woman has noticeably shorter braids and bangs. The fat woman has very long hair and thus braids, and is also wearing glasses (her friend has none). The young, fat, white woman (me) is wearing: a red t-shirt, with a black sheer lacey blouse on top. The shirt sleeves stop before the lace, so you have a bit of lace with only her arm underneath, which gives a pretty effect. Over the shirt and lace blouse (both thrifted) she's wearing a handmade vest with a witchy themed print on it. Her outfit continues with a black pointy circle skirt, with additional layers of tulle for decoration. The edges of the pointy skirt are also decorated with lace (because the answer to lace is always yes!). Black thights and booties finish the bottom off. For accessories she's got bright red velvet hairbows, a necklace with an anatomical heart on it, black lace fingerless gloves and a black hand-held fan.
Her thin friend next to her is wearing a brown beret, a cream-coloured blouse with red decorations and an embroidery-like print which features big roses. She's wearing a cameo brooch pinned to the neck of her blouse. Her outfit continues with a highwaist skirt in dark red (blood red maybe?) featuring a gorgeous fairy tale-esque/picture book-esque print showing scenes from the musical "Dance of the Vampires". It's not officially affiliated, but for fans of the musical it's clear where the inspiration came from. The picture book drawings even show the famous bed featuring in the scene of the "Carpe Noctem" song! White tights and black shoes with cute bows on them finish the outfit off.
Picture 2: A close-up candid picture of Amy (me) standing among the crowd watching the musical show on stage. She's turning around to look towards the picture taker and smiling.
Picture 3: A close-up candid picture of Amy (me) taken from behind. She's happily watching the musical show on the stage and quickly fanning herself with a black fan with white mountains drawn on it.
Picture 4: Amy (me) and her friend waiting in line for the musical flea market. One is thin, the other is fat. (I'm the fat one). Both have brown hair and wear it in two braids, though the thin woman has noticeably shorter braids and bangs. The fat woman has very long hair and thus braids, and is also wearing glasses (her friend has none). Their both dressed in gothic lolita fashion, with a vampire theme. (For a detailed description of their clothes, check picture 1 please.)
Picture 5: The delicious Japanese food I've had! On top of the collage of pictures are the surprisingly big vegetable gyoza, followed by a bib beautiful ramen bowl, with noodles, green vegetables, spring onions, sprouts and a juicy egg. The third image shows dessert: a melon pan, which has been cut open, with a big scoop of azuki ice cream inside, with some azuki bean sauce, an orange slice and mint for garnish.[/image description]

Miscellaneous Facts about the Quartet
I have a bunch of random facts that are canon to me about my Pan, Bulla, Kuriza, and Cell Junior. A lot of them will never see the light of day in my series, so I might as well jot them down here.
Bulla likes collecting old school, 'retro' technology and toys (e.g. lollipop phones, password-locked diaries etc.)
Junior enjoys listening to Nicki Minaj (the only real-world pop star with a counterpart in the DB world)
Kuriza doesn't know the specifics of Arcosian asexual reproduction
Kuriza's favourite planet before Earth was Freeza Planet 32, a planet full of tall trees and luscious rainforest
Pan dislikes her mother's cooking even though Gohan loves it
Pan has a bigger manipulative streak than Bulla, contrary to popular belief
Junior is a prodigy at anything arts related
In terms of combat power, from weakest to strongest: Pan, Kuriza, Bulla, Junior
In terms of battle prowess/technique, from weakest to strongest: Kuriza, Bulla, Pan, Junior
Junior is the fusion that resulted from all the Cell Juniors on Monster Island fusing into one (after seeing Trunks and Goten do the fusion dance during their time there) and then never unfusing due to them all being genetically identical
Junior has a bigger appetite than the others
Kuriza has the smallest appetite
Kuriza enjoys seafood the best
Bulla's favourite colour is pink
Junior knows exactly how Arcosian asexual reproduction goes, but he won't tell Kuriza about it
Junior doesn't enjoy spending time with Pan's family because he feels Gohan and Videl don't like him
Pan's favourite food are the burgers from Mr Satan World (a fast food chain her family owns)
As of Dominion, Pan is the only one of the quartet to attend a regular human school
Bulla was pulled out of kindergarten at a young age as she was too ahead of her peers and could not connect with them
Junior, Bulla, and Kuriza attend school together at Capsule Corp., taught by specialised teachers hired and thoroughly screened by Bulma herself
Kuriza got into Freeza's wine stash once and got absolutely wasted over half a bottle of it
Pan has a wide collection of fictional books and a whole section of her family's library dedicated to them
Bulla is not interested in fiction, and only reads non-fiction
Junior wants to learn electric guitar
Junior thinks skateboarding is cool, but also thinks it doesn't go fast enough
Junior plans to attach rocket boosters to a skateboard at some point and try it out
The one who does best at traditional schooling is Pan
In terms of raw intelligence, however, Bulla is unchallenged
Bulla struggles to feel empathy
Socially, Pan is the most well-adjusted
Bulla listens to Ann Azuki, even though she is considered to be outdated and about to retire from the idol scene
Pan likes ballads
Kuriza likes instrumental music
Both Bulla and Junior have photographic memories
Junior does the best in high-pressure situations
The one with the shortest temper is Bulla, though she is quick to forgive and forget in most circumstances
Pan has a slow, deep style of anger that takes a while to manifest; she holds grudges and will not usually forgive people who have wronged her
Pan is the reigning champion of the Junior Division (which made a return after the 28th) from the 29th to 30th World Tournament, securing her latest title just months before the events of Dominion
Junior spent approximately 4 years in the wild by himself before he was discovered by Android 17
Kuriza was born from Freeza alone, an outlier in Arcosian reproduction as asexual reproduction is a last resort of their species; despite this, they are somehow not genetically identical
Bulla and Kuriza are baseball fans, much to Yamcha's bemusement (but overall delight)
Pan loves and respects martial arts the most out of all of them
Pan is the only one of the quartet to have friends outside of their group
Junior has a phone that has a cover with the pattern of Cell's skin on it

Letting It In & Letting It Go (2/3)
The one in which K/azuki learns to let his feelings in, and R/ei learns to let his walls go down, at least a little. Feat. Sick R/ei, caretaker K/azuki, and heavy ship implications (cough outright statements cough), though, they aren’t in a relationship at this point.
Same description as the last one, welcome to Part Two!  (Link to part one is ~~here~~)
R/ei is still sick, but hopefully he’s feeling a bit better since the last time. I guess we’ll see, won’t we?!  (Again, welcome to ‘I have B/uddy D/addies brain rot so, to anyone who bothers to read this, thank you for your time, I hope it’s enjoyable!) (references to violence, swearing, smoking, trauma, bad coughing/wheezing, incase you don’t like any of that) ((ALSO: There are spoilers for B/uddy D/addies. Slight, but it’s still spoilers, so be warned!))  Characters: R/ei, K/azuki, Angst&Banter feat. Caretaking  Word Count: 5.9k (oh lord)
Kazuki’s eyes flutter open, and as he gets his bearings, he realizes he fell asleep at the table. Rei is still letting out congested snores from the couch, but the slight wheeze in his lungs is gone. ‘That’s a relief, at least for now’ he thinks, a yawn escaping. Stumbling to the door, Kazuki opens it to find, true to his word, Kyu had left a basket of supplies outside. The note pinned to it lists what’s in it, and what medications not to combine. ‘Thanks Kyu’. He makes another mental note to text him later with an actual thanks. He lays all the stuff out on the table, taking stock of what was brought. There are some tea bags, a few boxes of tissues, and a pharmacy worth of medications. Cough drops, cough syrups, nasal decongestants (in the form of sprays), pain relievers, and antihistamines, along with a few boxes of general cold meds. Each is unopened, and clearly listed on the note by name, type, and what not to take with it. Turning his attention back to Rei, Kazuki tries to figure out, without waking the man, what medications he should get ready. He can hear the congestion in his snores, so getting him to take the nasal spray when he wakes up would probably help. Kazuki sighs to himself, realizing that task may not be as simple as it sounds. Rei isn’t exactly someone who enjoys discomfort, so convincing him to use a spray that will help, but will feel awful at first… ‘yeah, not gonna be easy’.  Getting back to symptom management, he thinks back to yesterday. The fever was alarming, but it’s since broken, and Rei doesn’t look particularly warm anymore. He was also coughing and sneezing a lot, which he isn’t now, ‘but that’s most likely due to him, ya know, being unconscious’. After studying the list a bit more, and comparing medications and uses, Kazuki decides on a few main choices. Setting aside a nasal spray, general cold medication, an herbal brand of cough medicine, and a handful of cough drops, he packs the rest back into the basket. The tissues are set next to the medication, along with the tea, of which he picks out a nice vanilla chamomile, and gets up to start the kettle.  ~~~~~~~ Stirring on the couch knocks Kazuki out of his sleepy daze, and he looks up to see Rei raising a hand to swipe at his nose. He attempts to sit up, which apparently requires significant effort given the pace he’s going at. “Rise and shine Rei, you want some breakfast?” The low groan he gets in return is indistinguishable as an answer, and since he didn’t eat for most of yesterday, Kazuki decides Rei no longer gets a say in the matter. He starts cracking a few eggs, turning on the stovetop and fishing a frying pan out of the drawer.  “Hh’nggxt-! ehhH’NNgxt-! nnDGXXT-!uhhh”  “Bless you!” “hH’KNNGT-!hhuhh”  “And again. You want bacon with your eggs?” “Who said I want eggs?” Kazuki let out a soft sigh, flashing Rei his most charming smile with just a touch of pleading in his eyes. “You didn’t eat anything yesterday, or dinner the night before, so today you’re eating eggs. But the bacon is optional, because I’m not gonna waste perfectly good meat on you if you’re just gonna pick at it and leave it behind. It’s bacon after all.”  Rei gives a grunt in response, so Kazuki throws an extra piece of bacon on, just incase. He could always eat it himself if Rei’s uninterested. Taking note of the harsh quality of Rei’s voice, he also starts a pot of rice, something easier on the throat and stomach. While the food cooks, Kazuki takes a minute to take in Rei’s appearance. He’s normally dishevelled, but the redness around his nose and pale quality of his skin is making him look particularly rough. He looks almost bruised, the dark bags under his eyes deepening against the tired depth of them. At just the sight of him you’d think he hadn’t slept in months, but with this sickness he’d slept more in the past day than he had in weeks.  The way his teeth dig into his lip and the lines forming around his eyes read plainly of pain. His hands grip the controller a bit too tightly, the whites of his knuckles showing. His whole body is tense, like normal, but the slight trembling of his muscles suggest this stance is taking considerable effort. Kazuki picks up on these tells almost instantly, shuddering a little as he realizes just how deeply Rei must be hurting for him to be able to notice them so easily. “Hey-” Kazuki starts, not missing the way Rei flinches at the volume of his voice. He softens a little before continuing.  “-I have some medicine for you to take. Kyu dropped it off outside earlier, must have been when we were- uh, nevermind! The point is, I need you to take it, so do I need to make some airplane noises, or are you adult enough to do it yourself?”  Rei gives him a measured look, before shrugging, his eyes flashing back to the TV. ‘Not an outright no, so that’s progress!’ Kazuki thinks to himself, turning off the stove and plating the food he’s made. He piles himself a nice tall plate of eggs and bacon, with a small bowl of rice. However, he serves Rei just a single fried egg and a small pile of rice, setting the single strip of bacon next to it. Nothing too overwhelming, just something to give his system a bit of energy. “Come and get it while it’s fresh and hot!” Rei trudges over, and Kazuki doesn’t miss the wince he tries to hide when he first stands, or the way his hand flies almost on its own to his head, giving his temples a quick rub. ‘Headache then, and likely a bad one.’ Kazuki makes a mental note to add ‘pain relievers’ to the list of meds he has set out for Rei.  ~~~~~~~ They ate in relative silence, Rei picking at his food, but managing to get bits of it into his mouth. Sniffling and light coughs broke up the still air, but Kazuki just ignored them. It almost felt like feeding a stray cat. Every movement Rei made was calculated, and in return Kazuki was slow, careful not to scare him into retreating back to the couch.  “hH’KNGT-! hIH’DNNT-!uhhh”  “Bless you! ….Those sound like they hurt.” “It’s fihhhne. Hihh… hAH’GNXXT-!uhhh”  “And again.”  Kazuki can’t help but grimace at the weak groan that escapes Rei’s throat before he can suppress it. ‘Why stifle when it’s hurting your head so much, and not even stopping the tickle?’ He muses, watching as Rei ducks into his chest with another contained sneeze, this one barely even audible. The watery quality of Rei’s eyes as he slowly brings his head back up doesn’t go unnoticed, but Kazuki decides to put it on the backburner. Right now he needs to focus on getting Rei to take the medication. He reaches back into the basket, pulling out a bottle of painkillers, and adding a couple to the cup of meds he had already set out. Setting the nasal spray beside it, and pouring a spoonful of cough syrup, he meets Rei’s eyes. “Swallow these with water, then take this.” Seeing the hesitation on Rei’s face as he regards the nasal spray, Kazuki gives him a light chuckle. “You can save that one for later. You should do it eventually, but these pills will take the edge off the congestion anyways. Now hurry up before this falls off the spoon. Kyu paid for this, so I’ll make you lick it off the table if it spills.” Rei gave him a low growl, but swallowed the meds dry, ‘show off’, before taking the spoon, making a face as he put it in his mouth, but finishing it anyways. Satisfied with these results, Kazuki gestures for him to return to the couch, and Rei obliges eagerly.  Kazuki then went about clearing the table, and making a mental note to make rice again for lunch (as it was the only part of the meal Rei had actually finished). He then happened to glance back over at Rei just in time to see him crush his nose into his wrist with a harsh “hH’KNNGT-!” that left them both wincing. “Bless you. But christ Rei, just cut that out already, you’re gonna kill your head even more. It’s actually hurting me to hear you do this. I thought we went over this yesterday!” Rei shoots him a glance at that last section, as if desperately searching for any indication of the day prior that fever seems to have wiped clean. “I don’t remember much of yesterday. Just something about the tub…”  “Yeah well, not surprising. You were pretty out of it. Anyways, doesn’t matter, the point is, suppressing them like that is fine for jobs or whatever, but right now you’re just hurting yourself. Plus it’s… it’s gotta be annoying right..? It doesn’t exactly scratch the itch.” “It’s a habit.” Kazuki rolls his eyes, knowing just as well as Rei does that with this much sneezing, it’s a choice, not an instinct. And even though he does believe Rei that it’s a habit, he also knows that the sneezes aren’t gonna stop anytime soon. Keeping this up is just gonna make his headache even worse. Rei brings a hand up to crush his nose shut for another deeply unsatisfying “hH’NGXT-! heh’DXXGT-!” and when Kazuki sees the tear roll from his eyes at the pain of it, he can’t stand it anymore. He walks out of the kitchen, passing the living room and heading up to his bedroom to fetch something. The feather duster sits right where he left it in his closet.  ‘Sorry Rei, but I promise this is for the best’ he says to himself as he approaches the couch once back downstairs. Rei is giving him a measured look, obviously noticing the way he’s holding his hands behind his back. “I’m sorry it had to come to this, but I cannot listen to you doing that anymore. You’re gonna break something, either in you, or me.” “What are you ta-” He cuts Rei off with the duster right to his face. “Kahhh! Kazuki what the fuhhhhh- hUH-! What are you doing?”  “You seem set on suppressing them out of existence, and I’m putting a stop to it.” Rei tries to bring his hands up to push the duster away, but doing so just sends more dust and feather bits right at his face. Kazuki continues brushing his face with it, only stopping when Rei’s hitching turns into a desperate shaky inhale. “hhHEHH-! hH’ZZSCHH’OO-! HH’RUSHH’OO-! ESHH’OO-! hehH- RSHH’OO-TSHH’OO-! Hihhh… heH’TSHH’OO-!  Hehh! MMPFSHH’OO-! Hehh… hahh…. Hhh-!” “It’s okay Rei, let it all go. I don’t mind. You’re safe here.”  “Ahh… hehh…. hehH’MPFSHH-! Hehh! MPFSHH-!uhhh TSHHH-TSHH’OO-! hEHH! Kaaahhhhzz- haAH’ZZSCHH’OO! I can’t s- stooohh… stop-” Without thinking, Kazuki reaches over, prying away Rei’s hands that he’s stapled to his face, and pinches his nose shut. Rei lets out a soft moan as the sneezing finally dies down enough to let him catch his breath. They sit like that for a minute, until Kazuki realizes he’s still holding Rei’s nose, blushes, and lets go. “Bless you! See, isn’t that better?” Now it’s Rei’s turn to blush, taking the last of the tissues from the box next to him, and letting himself fully blow his nose before responding. “....yeah, it does feel better.” “I knew it! You should really listen to me more often, I’m quite brilliant. You people, you and Kyu, never appreciating my intelligence. You think you’re all that because you’re a tough assassin, practically perfect at it, raised by famous killers, but I’m just as smart you know! If not more so! I had to do it without all the training!” “It was effective training, but it wasn’t all good.” Kazuki pauses his victory dance, finally realizing what he had said.  “Sorry… I didn’t mean-” Rei cuts him off with a shrug, wiping his nose once more with the tissues before tossing them and picking his controller back up. Eyes still on the screen, he spoke again. “I wasn’t allowed weakness. I learned how to hide any sign of humanity, any ‘flaws’.” His tone is balanced, almost like he was reading a grocery list. Just stating facts. But there’s a pain swimming through his eyes that makes Kazuki’s mouth run dry. It’s almost like he can feel all the emotions trembling below the surface of Rei’s calmly annoyed mask, pounding on him from the inside, waiting for a crack so they can seep out. Kazuki wants to give them a way out. Give Rei a space to break down some of the walls his ‘Boss’ had built up in him. Maybe let him figure out how to show his humanity again, something that was so cruelly stolen from him. That’s what he wants, but he knows that’s not what either of them needs.  ‘What Rei needs is a space where he can keep the mask on without effort. That’s what he needs. That’s what both of us need. In this job, we can’t form attachments. We can’t let our masks slip, not even for a second. We need to be cold, collected, and calculating.’ And then, even though he tries not to, he lets his mind wander back to that same old place it always seems to end up. An umbrella floating through the street, the smell of smoke, the ringing in his ears… ‘We don’t get to have people get close to us. That just puts them in danger, and us in danger of losing them.’ “hEH’KSSHH’OO!”  A sneeze breaks him out of his spiralling thoughts, and as Kazuki’s eyes refocus, he realizes Rei is staring at him. “Heh, sorry, got a bit lost in thought there. Bless you.” “It’s fine. Thought you were gonna fall asleep standing up. Didn’t want to worry about you splitting your head open.” Kazuki laughs, and Rei lets a smile slip across his features for just a second, before the grimace of annoyance resets itself, and he turns his eyes back to his game. Kazuki feels a yawn slip out, and Rei directs a raised eyebrow at him. “Didn’t get a lot of sleep last night, I think I’m gonna take a quick catnap.” “Okay.” The answer is short, but he can see the slight flush on Rei’s cheeks as he thinks back to the reason Kazuki is so tired. “Nighty-night.” He shoots over his shoulder, heading upstairs to his room.  ~~~~~~~ The alarm goes off at twelve, just like he wanted it to, but Kazuki still fights the urge to throw the phone at the wall. Letting his head flop back against the pillow, he considers staying in bed all day, but these thoughts are quickly silenced when he hears a bout of harsh coughing from downstairs. Sighing a little, and letting a stray “hH’ISH’shiiew!” slip out as he pulls his jacket back on, Kazuki heads for the stairs, nearly falling down them at the sight waiting for him. Rei stands beside the door, putting on his shoes, holding a loose fist to his mouth as the coughs shake his whole frame.  “What in the ever-loving-fuck do you think you are doing?”  Rei jumps slightly, which is alarming in of itself since Kazuki wasn’t exactly being quiet as he came down the stairs. “Going out.” “Oh like hell you are! And just where are you planning to drag your sickly form to? Gotta go infect a supermarket? Why is it that the one time I actually want you to stay home all day, lazing around, you decide, ‘oh no, no, today is the first time in my life that I feel the unfightable urge to go outside!’ For the love of god Rei, the one time!” “I’m going to see Kyu. We dropped out of the job at the last minute because of me. He’s probably angry, and wehhh! hH’ZZCHH’OO-! we need to take a new one to make up for it.”  Kazuki blinks, staring at Rei, who for his part, is still putting his shoes on. “Bless you. I already took care of that.” “What?” “I told him that you were sick, and he brought the basket over. He said just not to let it happen again, he isn’t upset at us for bailing. Sickness isn’t exactly something you can help…”  Rei’s face was his normal calm annoyance, but something unreadable flashed in his eyes.  “Oh.” And then it hits Kazuki. This probably was new to him, the idea that being sick wasn’t a punishable offence. “Besides, with the state you’re in right now, I don’t want you in position and then blow it because you-” “heH’NNggxt-! hh’nnGT-! AH’KTNGTT-!uhhh” “-Took the words right out of my mouth. Bless you.” “I didn’t say anything.” “Shut up! You know what I mean- oh forget it. You just go lay down again, it’ll be time for more meds again soon. But for now, you should take some cough drops, that cough sounds pretty painful.”  “It’s nothing. My head is worse.” Kazuki feels his mouth drop open at the admission as Rei slowly bends down to take his shoes off again, leaving them in a pile on the floor ‘oh come on, really?’ before making his way back to the couch. Reaching over to pick up the shoes, Kazuki hears Rei sneeze again from behind him. “hH’NGT’ooo-! hEHK’TSHH’OO-!”  “Bless you!” He calls as he puts the shoes back next to the door, heading over to the basket of meds to get Rei’s next dose ready afterwards. “Snfff`- hehh.. hhH-! guhhh…”  Kazuki risks a glance over at Rei, noticing the way his hand is hovering slightly in front of his face, as if he’s waiting for one more. Reaching over into the basket, he grabs a box of tissues and tosses them onto the couch. “Blow your nose, it’ll help.” Rei obliges with an eye roll and sigh, rubbing his nose into the tissues for a moment before letting a harsh blow scrape out. Kazuki winces, making a mental note to buy more tissues next time he’s out. If- ‘okay fine, “when”’ he catches this, he’s gonna need them. “hH’ZSSCHH’OO-!” “Bless y-” “hAH’TSHH’OO-! RRSHH’OO-! heH’NNGXT-! Hehh… hH’MMTSHHH’OO-!uhhh… hhh… heHH-! Guhhh… hhH-! hhHDT-uhhhh…” “Christ, bless you again, and again. Are you al-” “HH’TSHH’OOO-! mmMPFFSHH’OO-! hEhH-uhhh…. Hhehh- hHH’ZZSCHH’OOO-!”  “Bless you! What the fuck Rei, why are you getting so much worse so fast?” Rei just gasps in response, ducking back into the tissues with a harsh triple that doesn’t even give him a breath in between. “hUH’ZSSHH-RSHHH-TSHH’OO-!” Kazuki doesn’t even give a blessing this time, his focus completely taken over by figuring out what’s going on. Even for Rei, this isn’t normal. Sneezing with a cold is one thing, sneezing with this level of viciousness for no reason is something completely different.  Racking his brain he tries to remember the last time, if ever, that he’s seen Rei this bad. Earlier he got a longer fit out of him with the duster, but even that wasn’t nearly as throat-scraping as this, and at least gave him time to collect his breath in between. “Kaahhhhzuki-! hUH’SCHHH’OO! RSHH-TSHHH-TSHHH-KSHHH’OO-! hEHH! hEH’ZZSCHH’OOO-!” Rei’s still desperately sneezing into the tissues, but the box fell off the couch during the commotion. Kazuki reaches to pick it up, and freezes at the sight staring back at him. ‘Lotion infused? Wait a second… Is Rei… Oh fuck-’  Kazuki throws the box on the floor, rushing to the bathroom and coming back with a toilet roll. Rei shoots him a frantic glance as he tears the tissues out of his hand, replacing them with a section of roll, which Rei quickly uses to blow his nose. Taking a desperate breath, letting another “hH’TSHH’OO-!” escape, and blowing his nose again, Rei finally manages to stop the fit. “You’re allergic to lotion!?” “What?” “The tissues dumbass, they’re lotion infused! Are you allergic to lotion?” “I guess so. I’m allergic to most perfumes, so I guess that would make sense.” “You’re what? You didn’t think to tell me this? That maybe I should know so, oh I don’t know, off the top of my head, so I don’t give you lotion infused tissues that nearly kill you? Maybe so that doesn’t happen!?” Rei just shrugs, burying his nose in the toilet roll again and letting another leftover sneeze scrape out of his throat. “HH’ZZSHH’OO-!uhhh” At the tired groan that follows, Kazuki manages to get a hold of himself. Taking a few deep breaths, he shoots Rei a dirty glare, before rubbing a hand down his face. “For future reference, telling me about things you’re allergic to is no longer optional.” “Okay.” Rei pauses for a minute, a harsh cough cutting him off before he can continue, and Kazuki hands him a water bottle from the coffee table. After taking a sip, and clearing his throat, Rei continues, voice noticeably softer, though not necessarily by choice. “Sorry. I didn’t think it was relevant.” The apology seems sincere, regret plainly painted across his face, so Kazuki offers him a gentle smile and playful punch to the arm. “I mean hey, it’s your nose that suffers after all.” Rei moans slightly at the reminder, lightly rubbing his nose against his palm, grumbling out, “It still itches.” Kazuki grabs the meds he was getting before, adding an antihistamine to the mix this time. “Yep. You’ll most likely be itchy for a while, but here, take these. I added an antihistamine, that should help kill the reaction a bit faster. The rest is for the cold.” A low groan is all he gets as an answer, but Rei swallows them, so he counts that as a win. “Maybe we’ll save the nasal spray for another time, I think right now it’ll just make you feel worse. They normally cause a few sneezes.” Rei’s eyes go wide as he nods, then immediately flinches at his head changing positions. “Still got a headache, hm?” This time Rei plays it safe with a verbal response. “Yeah. hAH’SHH’ooo-!”  “Bless you. At least they’re getting softer.” “Mm.”  Kazuki pauses, his mind drifting back to a time in his life that he simultaneously refuses to let himself think about, and can’t seem to ever stop. Back to holding her head in his lap, gently rubbing her neck and temples, back when she’d get migraines during pregnancy. “Do you get migraines?” “Yeah.” “I uh…” Kazuki raises a hand sheepishly to the back of his neck, turning his head slightly away from Rei’s eyes. “I might know something that could help.” He doesn’t get a response, but Rei is watching him intently, eyes studying his face. ‘Shit, he looks really cute like that- woah woah, no, what kinda thought is that?’ Quickly deciding that answering himself would be the easiest way to get Rei to stop giving him that look that seemed to set him on fire from the inside out, Kazuki heads to the kitchen. He fetches a washcloth from a drawer, running it under freezing water, ringing it out a bit, then letting himself drift down onto the couch. “It’s uh… It might be a bit awkward, but you lay your head in… uh…. In my lap, and then I just kinda-” Before he can finish, Rei has paused the game, and laid onto his back, his head resting on Kazuki’s legs. Both of them are stiff, the tension rising off of them enough to raise the heat in the room by several degrees. Without a word, Kazuki places the washcloth on the back of Rei’s neck, and lets his hands touch his hair, starting to run down towards Rei’s temples, pausing only when he flinches at the contact. “Alright?” “Yeah.” With that, he continued his gentle rub, a smile fighting through his control when Rei’s eyes snapped shut and a low moan escaped his lips. ‘His lips… they look so soft… I wonder what they taste like’ Before he knows it, Kazuki feels his own face start moving forward, longing to touch Rei’s lips with his own.  ‘Woah, okay, I’m definitely getting this illness, because I must have a fever. That’s the only explanation for why I just thought that!’ Kazuki rushes, heat starting to stain his face with a light pink tint, but thankfully for him, Rei remains none the wiser, his eyes still closed as he gently hums against the welcome touch. Slowly, he starts to drift off, until soon congested snoring fills the room once more. Kazuki lets his eyes linger on Rei’s lips just a moment longer than he should, before leaning back, and letting his own eyes flutter shut, their breathing quickly falling in sync.  ~~~~~~~ A harsh sound snaps Kazuki out of his sleep. Looking down at his lap he realizes Rei’s head isn’t there anymore, and when he turns his head he sees the man curled up on the edge of the couch, a harsh cough sputtering out of him. “Rei, are you okay?” A wheeze is all he gets in response, followed by deeper coughs that have him nearly falling off the couch. When his eyes find Rei’s, he feels the colour rush out of his face in response to the deep pale tint that Rei currently has. “Hey, okay, take it easy, shit- can you breathe?” Rei opens his mouth to reply, but the only sound that escapes is a faint whisper that seems to catch in his throat. His eyes are wide, panic practically seeping out of them, before he ducks back into his shoulder with another wet, rattling cough. The whistling sound when he tries to breathe answers the question for Kazuki. No, no he can’t. ‘Okay, fuck, don’t panic, think this through, what helps with coughing?’  Raising to his feet, Kazuki drapes Rei across his back, wincing at the way Rei tries with all the strength he has left to direct the onslaught of coughs away from him. Thanking god that the walk to the bathtub is short, Kazuki kicks the door closed behind them, setting Rei carefully on the ground. He then turns to the tub, turning the water as hot as it will go.  Rei gasps desperately, a harsh wheeze leaving tears in his eyes as he doubles over into himself with another round of harsh coughing. Kazuki can’t tell if the tears are from the rattling of the cough, or fear, and honestly he can’t decide which is worse. Finally, after a mere matter of minutes, but what felt like hours, the steam starts filling the bathroom. Rei is still coughing, but the whistling sound when he breathes is already starting to back down. ‘Or maybe that’s just wishful thinking’.  Kazuki lets the bathtub start to fill, walking over to where Rei is, and easing himself onto the ground next to him. He reaches out to rub Rei’s back, but pulls back when Rei flinches away, desperation overflowing in his eyes. They sit like that for a minute, both frozen, aside from the chesty cough still shaking Rei’s frail form, before slowly, Rei leans back into the touch, his watery eyes meeting Kazuki’s. Neither of them say anything, neither of them could if they wanted to. But they don’t need to. Kazuki looks into Rei’s eyes and knows what he means. ‘Your touch is allowed, just be gentle. I’m still learning how to feel safe with it.’ And in turn, Rei knows what the look he’s receiving means. ‘I know, I’ll be careful. Just let me help you.’  As the steam fills the room, Rei’s wheeze slowly starts to fade out, the cough loses some of its ferocity. Even so, Kazuki continues rubbing slow circles, and Rei doesn’t move away from the touch. Once the cough backs off enough for him to take a breath without any whistling, Kazuki stands, not missing the way Rei’s body trembles slightly when he removes his hand. “Come on, let's get you back to the couch, I’ll get you another dose of the cough syrup, and you should try to get some more rest. I have some work to do for a job Kyu asked me to finish up anyways, I’ll work on that while you sleep.” “Okay.” Rei’s voice is raw and harsh, and makes both of them grimace, so Kazuki reaches down and helps Rei stand, letting out a low hum as the other man winces at the movement. “Easy now, don’t go pulling anything. Carrying you is still a no from me, I’d like to keep my back intact.” There’s a faint hint of something that could be considered laughter from Rei, and given the state he’s in, and how expressive he normally is (ie. isn’t) it’s frankly impressive. Once they get back to the couch, Kazuki lets Rei lay down at his own pace, before getting him the cough syrup. Rei once again makes a face that reminds Kazuki of a child, but it’s better than not taking it. He stands and watches for a minute, making sure Rei’s able to drift off, before heading up to the office to finish the work he promised Kyu. Somewhere in his mind, a voice he shut in a box a long time ago starts screaming again, and he has to fight to ignore it. ‘This is love, you are in love!’  ~~~~~~~ “hH’SHH’UHH-!” A hoarse sneeze alerts Kazuki that his patient is awake again, pulling him out of the spiral his mind had chosen to wander down. Making his way downstairs, he’s relieved to see Rei sitting up, a lot more colour in his face. “How are you doing now? You gave me a bit of a scare. Ya know, for a smoker who seems to have remarkable tolerance to cigarettes, you sure have weak lungs!” Rei opens his mouth to answer, but all that comes out is a hoarse rush of air, followed by a deep, voiceless groan. A laugh escapes Kazuki’s lips before he can stop it, earning him a dark glare from the man sitting on the couch rubbing his throat. ‘This funny to you?’  Yet again, no words are needed for Kazuki to know exactly what Rei means. “Yes, in fact, it is pretty funny to me. You know that old saying, ‘your face will freeze that way’? Maybe this is the voice equivalent. You don’t use it enough, so it’s decided to just up and pack its bags!” Rei shoots him another glare, but this time there’s a hint of humour in it that he isn’t able to suppress. Kazuki winks at him, before checking the alarms he’d set on his phone for meds. “It’s gonna be another few hours before I can give you another dose of anything, so I think you’ll just have to put up with this for now.” “Well… at least… you’ll get… what you always… wanted… to talk without… interruption…”  The words are strained, and seem to scrape against his throat enough to make Kazuki audibly gasp. “Hey, woah, no no no. No more talking, not only is that extremely bad for you, but christ man, it sounds horrible. Don’t do that to yourself, you’re just gonna wreck something beyond repair.”  “Aren’t… you usually… on me… about not… talking enough…”  “Yeah but this is different! Seriously, it sounds painful. You should rest it, and drink some more water, try to give your throat a bit of a break.” Rei just nods this time, hand still lightly rubbing his throat, apparently done trying to fight his body on this particular matter. ‘Probably good, seeing as this is one fight he has no chance of winning. Only person skilled enough to take down Rei, is Rei’.  Kazuki sits down on the couch beside Rei, who had picked up the controller again, deciding to watch him play games for a while. Kazuki starts to feel a tickle form in his throat, and decides that denial is the best form of medication. ‘It’s probably just from hearing how bad Rei’s throat is, that’s all.’ He thinks, allowing himself to drift into the world of denial a little deeper. His thoughts are interrupted by… actually, he doesn’t know what by. There’s no actual noise, nothing has happened that should have brought him crashing back into the real world. Fully putting his gaze on Rei, Kazuki suddenly realizes what pulled him back in. “Bless you.” “heH’SHH’uhhh-!” Rei’s eyes meet his with a confused look. Kazuki just chuckles, letting himself indulge in a moment of pride for being able to read him that well. It started with a slight tremble around Rei’s eyes, followed by his nose twitching, and finally a slight gasp in his normal breathing. Patterns that Kazuki didn’t even realize he had memorized, and yet, it came so naturally to him.  While his gaze was already on Rei, he let himself look the man over. His shoulders were tight, like normal, but there was a slight shudder to them that made him reach over and drape a blanket over Rei’s legs. This time he got a low hum in response, reaffirming that he was correct on that assessment. Then there was his throat, which, while he wasn’t talking, was still slightly moving, almost as if he was swallowing constantly. Kazuki reaches over to his side of the couch where he had seen Rei place the water bottle earlier, and hands it to him, blushing a little at the look of pure confusion that met him once again. “You look like you need it… Am I wrong?” There’s no response, he didn’t expect one, but the way Rei’s hands loosen their grip on the controller after he drinks is all the answer Kazuki needs.  “Bless you.” “hH’SHH’uhhh-!”  “And again, and once more.” “hEH’SHH’uhhh-! Hehh-! hH’SHH’uhhh-!”  Rei gives him a withering look, but Kazuki just laughs it off, gently ruffling Rei’s hair, before pulling his hand back with a clearing of his throat. ‘Why did you do that?!” “So- uh- I have a bit more work to do upstairs. I’ll come back down when it-” Suddenly he pauses, a far away look glossing over his features, before snapping to the side with a-  “hih’ISHH’iew-! Tishh’iew-! hAH’ISHH’IEW-! Oh, bless me.”  Blushing slightly at the stare Rei points his direction, Kazuki gives a light shrug. “Don’t ask, I’m not sick, just a few sneezes, it can happen to anyone!” This time Rei definitely didn’t need words to convey his point, the eye roll said it all clearly.  ‘Whatever you say.’ Kazuki elects to ignore this one, settling instead for finishing his earlier sentence. “I’ll come back down when it’s time for you to take some more meds.” Rei nods, then gives Kazuki a look that nearly melts his entire being. The meaning of this one was also clear, and struck him right to his very core. ‘Thank you.’ “You’re welcome.” He whispers back, heading upstairs, and deciding he’ll attribute the fluttering in his chest to the cold. Better to admit that he’s catching an illness rather than the alternative… but the little voice inside him starts screaming once again: ‘You’re in love, you’re in love, you love him!’

Another year another Genshin cake! The Japanese inspiration is impossible to miss, and I can tell the team did their research on this one! Let’s break it down under the cut
So! Starting with our foundation, the cake itself! I’d start off with a nice sponge cake, possibly flavored and colored with Japanese purple sweet potato, or food coloring, whichever you prefer! Finding a good recipe for an Ube sponge cake might serve you well here as the two tubers should be similar enough. Japanese purple sweet potatoes can be a little drier than ube, so you might need to add a little extra liquid if you manage to get your hands on the authentic vegetable.
The filling looks like a coarse Anko, or Red Bean paste made from Azuki beans, though i’ve never personally seen it used on a cake in such a thick layer like it is here. So personally, I would pipe in a ring of red bean paste just around the edge of the cake, and then fill the rest with a stabilized whipped cream, or another frosting of your choice. You can make stabilized whipped cream in a variety of ways, here’s a website with a few of them X. The topmost layer has an elegant pattern decorating its surface, and it reminds me of a mirror glaze pour, except for the fact that it doesn’t go down the sides of the cake at all. A mirror glaze has a very attractive finish when done right, and I do believe it would add to the aesthetic of the cake significantly. In theory it might be possible to do, unfortunately i can’t find any examples of this being done This video X has something close, with gelatine mixtures being poured on top of a cheesecake. So I believe that if you were to bake your layers in a springform pan, level them, then put the top one back in the pan after lining the sides with parchment paper, it could then be possible to pour on a mirror glaze without it dripping down the sides. I’d also suggest adding a very smooth and level barrier of frosting, ganache, cream cheese, or other similar spreadable substance on the cake’s surface, and also using parchment paper as a temporary barrier so you can pour the gold the purple sides without them mixing too much. Gold leaf flecks would be an elegant addition to a mirror glaze if you have access to it. If mirror glazes aren’t for you, frosting or fondant would work just as well. The simplest thing to do with either of those methods would be to do the dark purple and the gold marble sides of the design first, and then create a ribbon of gold and purple to place on top. Whichever method you use to do the design on the top surface of the cake, the cherry blossoms will need to be added on top of that. Whether fondant, gumpaste, or frosting, whether piped, sculpted, or moulded, it’s up to you. Just don’t forget the little yellow centers!  Now for the toppers, let’s start with that fan. This video X demonstrates techniques you could use to create a perfect fan shape. The link i’ve included starts the video at the relevant portion of the video, but I would suggest not cutting out the large triangles on the top that she does, that way you can keep a more round shape like the illustration. Gum paste tends to hold up well when rolled thinly and maintains a very neat look, but you could also use fondant for this. Both are things you can likely purchase at baking or craft supply stores, but if you’d like to make fondant, this recipe here X for marshmallow fondant is serviceable. The gold will likely need to be painted on with a mixture of baking luster dust and alcohol (like vodka, but some people say vanilla or lemon baking extract will also work), or you could cut out thin strips of yellow and adhere it to the fan. Alternatively, you could just use paper, or something equally inedible. It would be much easier though! On to the little circles!  I believe that these are meant to be Wagashi (和菓子, wa-gashi), little traditional Japanese sweets that are often served with tea. There are many different kinds, but i looked around to find examples that I believe would work for the ones shown here. The blue flower balls could be these Hydrangea Wagashi, and the pink flower balls, while they’re clearly sakura blossoms in the official art, could also be made as Hydrangea Jelly Wagashi in pink. A more accurate-looking ball of flowers could be achieved by making Nerikiri (Kneaded Wagashi) in the two colors, but it’s much more complicated X. The large flower in the center of the arrangement is likely also a Nerikiri style of Wagashi, this video also provides a lot of information on Nerikiri, as well as some techniques and recipes that can be adapted to create these designs. X. Nerikiri dough appears to be quite malleable and workable, so if you have a mind for sculpture then it would definitely be possible to create all of the depicted designs, even though i can’t find any good examples that look like the fox or the birds. Information on how to make traditional Wagashi like these is not hard to find, but it’s generally considered quite difficult, and wagashi artisans often train for years before mastering all the techniques required. It also requires a lot of specialty ingredients that may be difficult to get your hands on. So instead, we hobbyist bakers can take shortcuts with moulds and the use of other materials. Again, fondant and gum paste will be your friends here. Brushing on powdered pigments with a fluffy brush could also make those gradients and color changes much easier. Here’s a basic guide to get you started with sculpting fondant X.  Hunting for specific moulds for the fox and birds may be difficult, but a simple google search of “wagashi mould” will turn up plenty of results that may suit your preference for the flowers.
Overall, most Japanese sweets aren’t intended to be as overly-sweet as western ones, Wagashi are just one example of this. When making this cake I’d recommend that you keep your hand light with the sugar, and let the natural flavors of things shine through. But in the end, it’s your cake, make it how you want! and tune in next year for another cake breakdown!

Croissants Du Tokyo, 1740 Artesia Blvd, Gardena, CA 90248
Tumblr media
Located inside Tokyo Central’s food court, Croissants Du Tokyo bakes on site. The selection is limited (about a dozen types of croissants & buns, loaves of bread, a case of krone) and items tend to sell out, so it’s best to go early. Coffee is available as well. On weekends, the $1 krones are replaced by $1 cream puffs. A krone features a pie crust cone with a creamy filling (custard, chocolate or matcha). Cute signs feature English and Japanese.
Power of Azuki ($1.48): Classic baked red bean bun, thin shell with poppyseeds, lots of sweetened slightly chunky red bean paste. The paste was pretty sweet but the nuttiness of the seeds helped cut through the sweetness. Can’t complain for the price. It looked like a textbook red bean bun.
Baked curry pan ($2.60): Small, soft thin baked bun with crumbs on the outside and a tiny bit of Japanese veggie curry inside (with potatoes and carrots). Good but the bun was mostly empty.
Plain croissant ($1.80): Pretty good with layers, a bit of crispiness and a softer interior. For under $2, it’s a steal. If it were more expensive, I’d want more layers and more butter.
The baked goods were very good – not the best ever but very reasonably priced and fresh.
4 out of 5 stars.

(SFW) prompt 84: “Leave me alone.” “I brought cookies.” “… fine, come in.” with Leviathan and f!mc
Hey nonny! For this prompt, I immediately knew how to start this and I knew it was going to be "easy" for me to write it but it took me... awhile... to finally sit down and write this.
Thank you so much for the request, I hope you enjoy this at least half as much as I did writing it 💜💜
Inspired by this rolling pin
SFW, female MC, fluffy with a dash of angst, no warnings (but can be added if requested)
Cookies for the Otaku
The timer rang and she picked herself off the counter. Sliding on the oven mitts, MC opened the oven, pulled out the tray, closed the oven, and turned off the timer. The kitchen resumed its relative silence as she inspected the baked cookies. She'd made enough, she hoped, for Beel and the other brothers, but this last batch was special.
Resisting the urge to sigh again, MC waited a few minutes before removing the cookies from the pan to let them rest on the wire cooling rack. What better way to cheer up the otaku than with her signature snickerdoodle cookies imprinted with Ruri-chan and Azuki-tan designs from the limited edition "Baking With Ruri-chan Rolling Pin" she'd bought specifically to make for Ruri-chan's number one fan.
She'd overheard the brothers this morning teasing the third-born over a picture he'd posted of the two of them from Christmas he'd tagged with #ChristmasDate and #WithMyBeloved. Mammon had started the fuss showing it to everyone and soon after, the brothers had followed suit. They filled the halls with their squawking and opinions saying things like "you wish she saw you more than a friend," and comparing what they saw as their redeeming qualities with his "flaws."
Before MC even had a chance to step in, Lucifer intervened. Much to her disdain, the eldest criticized Leviathan's decision to post the picture at all, saying he'd had the intention to cause a ruckus. MC felt Leviathan's growl of frustration vibrate the air around her before he stormed back to his room, slamming the door shut behind him. Distracted during her classes, MC sent Levi a few messages throughout the day, trying to reach him through a few of his social media accounts but his status was always unavailable or offline compared to the almost permanent active/online status.
Plating up the special cookies made just for him, MC set off down the hall not knowing what state he'd be in but wanting to help him any way she could. She knocked on the door, but only silence responded. Knocking a little louder resulted in the same silence. Starting to worry, MC jiggled the locked door handle and knocked louder; he would be able to at least feel the vibrations if he was in the aquarium.
"Go away." His voice was rough, not necessarily loud but it was low and threatening reminding her of a rattlesnake.
"Levi? It's me, I-"
"Leave me alone." He cut her off and she heard a splash of water followed by soft footsteps. His voice, no longer filled with venom, sounded defeated and sad.
"I brought cookies. Snickerdoodle? Said to hold magical powers that can turn any grumpy guppy into a silly sea turtle..." Silence stretched out the seconds and her hope gradually deflated until she'd heard him sigh and a rustle behind the door. The lock clicked soon after, the door opening barely a sliver.
"...fine. Come in." Usually he'd at least smile, tease her for using such childish alliterations when she'd attempted to cheer him up in the past. Levi's deadpan tone crawled under her skin uncomfortably but she reached out to open the door, pulling it closed behind her and locking it as he had done previously.
MC's eyes followed the trail of puddles decorating the floor around the room before her gaze landed on the culprit. Levi had fallen back in his bathtub bed, legs dangling over the edge as his computer's screensaver cast an unsettling glow in the room.
Walking over to his desk to set down the plate of cookies, MC moved the mouse slightly causing the screen flicker to life; she wasn't interested with what was on the screen so much as the default screensaver had been silently mocking her.
MC took a cookie from the plate and placed it in her mouth, moving to stand between his legs. She held her hand out expectantly, waiting for the third-born to take it and let her pull him up. Eventually when he reached for her hand, Levi locked his legs around hers, lifting her before pulling her down into the tub with him. The cookie had fallen during the movement as she had yelped in surprise, and landed on his chest.
Arranging themselves to be comfortable, MC was lying on her back and Levi had his head resting on her stomach, her fingers brushing through his wet hair with the cookie lying innocently on her abdomen. It was quiet for awhile, neither of them spoke but the atmosphere was comforting, reassuring.
Finally, MC felt his fingers ghost along her stomach to inspect the cookie. It was too dim to see the pattern but she wasn't concerned about it; he'd see the design eventually.
"You made these?" His voice was barely above a whisper so as to not disrupt the mood.
"Mhmm," an affirmative hum in response, fingers still sifting through his hair, nails lightly scratching at his scalp. Levi hugged her a little tighter before lifting himself up, cookie in his mouth like she had done earlier, and held his head right above hers, the cookie gently pressed against her lips. Levi couldn't meet her gaze and she swore she could feel the heat radiating from his face, but she raised her head to take a bite from the offered sweet.
Crumbles rained down onto her face and she laughed, bringing up a hand to swipe them away causing Levi to shove the rest of the cookie into his mouth not knowing what else to do with it and not wanting to drop any more crumbs on her.
"It was supposed to be romantic, I'm sorry I messed it up," she could hear the pout in his voice. Looping her arms around his shoulders, MC pulled herself up to kiss him on the cheek, his skin warm against her lips.
"Romance is for boomers and normies. You're adorable and literally perfect the way you are." Levi groaned and leaned forward, burying his face against her neck, his chest rumbling as he tried not to whine.
The two of them shifted their positions again with practiced ease learned from maneuvering around in his narrow bathtub bed. Her ear against his chest listening to the rhythm of his heart beat and his arm resting gently on her upper back. She could feel his hand ghosting over her arm, still showing his shy, hesitant nature.
"Do you want to talk about it? This morning I mean." She felt him tense up and moved her hand from under her chin to splay her fingers gently on his chest to which he flinched from the contact. "We don't have to if you don't want to, I just want to make sure you're okay. You weren't online all day." Her voice got quieter the longer she spoke until the last sentence was mumbled.
"Eh? I bet you jumped around all my accounts to see if I'd been active." MC shrunk down trying to make herself smaller and he let out a laugh. "You did? Oh you totally did! Let me guess, DevilTube, Devilgram, Devilbook, Devcord, don't tell me you also checked Devtrest? Man I haven't been on that one in ages!!" Levi continued laughing and MC playfully smacked her hand on his chest with a scoff, her face burning as he teased her.
"And you even made me cookies too?" Levi sighed and wrapped his arms around her in a hug, squeezing her for a few seconds before pulling away. A hand lingered on her shoulder made her heart swoon. "I just," he started before stopping short, trying to collect and organize his thoughts and she waited patiently as he knew she would.
"You're so patient with me, I'm, I should be able to show you off to my brothers, to the world like you deserve. I should be confident enough to announce that we're, y-you know, t...to..., GAH! I can't even say it! I'm sorry MC, that I'm so use-"
"I don't think so," MC snapped back and pushed herself up to straddle him, smooshing his cheeks together to make fish lips, effectively cutting him off. "Do you remember what we talked about?" Levi looked away and huffed an exhale through his nose. "About being nice to ourselves?" MC still had a hold on his face squishing his cheeks together so he wasn't able to vocally respond but he huffed again before nodding slowly. She released his cheeks and patted his head, watching him expectantly. It was a battle they had frequently, waiting for the other to break first, but he always caved.
"Fine, fine, I give in, you win." As part of their agreement, whenever they caught each other saying something negative or self-depreciating, the one that was caught has to then say a compliment about themselves. "Ah, I'm Ruri-chan's number one fan!" Levi laughed and MC playfully huffed in response before standing and leaving the bathtub bed.
Levi peeked his head over the rim of the tub, worried he'd actually upset her, his eyes following as she walked to his desk and spotted the plate of cookies. He smacked his lips relishing in the sweet aftertaste and his stomach growled signaling it hadn't had a morsel of food all day. Pulling himself out of the tub, Levi padded over next to her and sat down in his chair.
Waiting until he got comfortable, MC sat down in his lap, facing him, and wrapped her arms around his torso, nuzzling her face against his sternum. Levi rested his chin on the top of her head and opened up his social media accounts to catch up on notifications and news, forgetting about his hunger. Hearing his stomach rumble, MC reached over for another cookie, holding it so the glow from the computer highlighted the imprinted design on top.
"If your her number one fan, then that makes me an enabler." Confused by her words, Levi looks down at the cookie in her hand and squealed, cupping her hand holding the baked good gently like it was a precious delicacy.
"MC," he whined. "Is this from the Limited Edition Baking With Ruri-chan Rolling Pin featuring Ruri-chan and Azuki-tan in their aprons and chef hats?" The designs smiling back up at him confirmed his suspicion. "But, we went to all the stores, all the lottery tickets, how were you lucky enough to get one?" She tittered knowing he was impressed and her surprise a success.
"Someone bought one by accident not realizing the design was themed. They wanted the original Ruri-chan design and returned the limited edition one."
"What?!? That's, how does that even happen?" Levi exclaimed, confounded by the happenstance.
"The store clerk was confused too, they could have made bank if they would have sold it instead but nope; they made an even exchange. The clerk remembered how desperate we were to get one and held on to it in case we were to stop by again. Mammon and I were window shopping when the clerk flagged me down. He said by doing us this favor, he hopes we'll seek him out first for future rare merch drops."
Levi was quiet for a moment, considering the design imprinted on the homemade baked good. His free hand lifted, running his fingers along her neck, urging her to pull back and she followed suit, her eyes blinking wide up at the otaku. Levi's hand held her head steady, his finger under her chin, blinking slowly and a soft smile parting his lips.
"I change my answer, I'm your number one fan." Her heart skipped a beat as he pressed his lips softly against hers and she melted. Their flushed cheeks mirrored each other and as she found herself dazed, he realized what he'd done and his face burned hotter. Looking everywhere else, Levi's attention was brought back to the cookie and he quickly took a bite as a distraction. Actually tasting and enjoying the sweet, he let out a delighted hum while he chewed and MC laughed in response, grabbing another cookie for herself to eat.
"You know," he spoke up after finishing his cookie, "I'm a pretty big fan of these cookies too."
"You're not gonna kiss the cookie too, right? Cause that'd be weird." MC snorted with laughter and Levi sputtered before following her in laughter feeling the weight of the day, of the morning, finally drift away.

@grandmacookie69 reblogged your post “beyoncescock: theres too many i cant name just...”
#food #no but actual advice to make rice taste good? #because its not my mums s strong point
mmm i preface this by saying i’m not asian but italian, so i’m more of an expert on risotto than other kinds of rice dishes, but roughly speaking the idea is this:
if you’re NOT making risotto but you want something more like fried rice, take the rice (yes there are multiple types but for the purposes of this let’s say any rice works especially if you don’t have access to many varieties) and rinse it (especially if medium or short grain, rinse that very well) and put it in a nonstick pot with a bit of oil, some salt and the amount of water it needs to cook while completely absorbing the water (start with little, you can add but you can’t take away, technically this is not the proper way but shh). You can use stock, especially chicken broth, instead of water to make it tastier. Once it’s cooked, let it cool down (technically the best option would be using rice cooked the day before and let in the fridge to rest, but that’s not necessary). In the meanwhile prepare whatever ingredients you want to mix with the rice, like vegetables, shrimps, ham, whatever. Season those as you like, don’t be stingy with oil. Then add the rice, and if you want crack in an egg, mix everything well. (You can also not add anything and just use the rice as accompaniment of course.)
now risotto:
take a large nonstick pan, heat up a little oil, then add the rice and let it get hot and slightly golden (keep the flame high) moving it around with a wooden spoon, once it’s hot add some white wine, always on high flame. the wine is necessary, it gives the right texture! once the wine has been fully absorbed, add stock (vegetable, chicken, beef, any you want) and let it cook, adding liquid as necessary, until the rice is cooked. when it’s cooked (leave it a little humid, don’t let it dry up completely) add either butter and grated parmesan (basic) or other ingredients, like a soft cheese (robiola, or gorgonzola if you like it, etc) and grated parmesan.
if you want to make risotto with vegetables or minced meat, add them at the beginning with the rice (i suggest making the rice brown first so the meat or vegetable don’t burn or stick to the pot while the rice heats up).
my favorites are minced beef and saffron (beef at the beginning, saffron at the end, when the rice is cooked but still quite humid - it still needs butter and grated parmesan at the end), radicchio and robiola (radicchio at the beginning, robiola at the end), beans (azuki or borlotti) and tomato sauce (beans the beginning, tomato sauce at the end). but you can do whatever you want :p
now, it’s gonna give most asian people an aneurym but it is possible to boil rice as it was pasta, using a lot of water and draining when it’s done. the trick here is to use a variety of rice that won’t fall apart and get mushy and disgusting. risotto varieties should be alright. avoid if the grain is very short. remember to salt the water! you can season it as it was pasta - butter and grated parmesan being the most basic and then going up. you can also rinse the cooked rice in cold water to cool it down, and make a rice salad like you would do a pasta salad. not my favorite although my family loves it in the summer ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
