mini headcanon:
Bruce is STEM-minded. Dick does well enough in school to get by and prefers STEM, much like Bruce.
Then Jason.
Jason loves books. He loves history. Jason is as humanities-oriented as you can get in a kid. Even after he dies, his love of literature doesn't. When Dick needs to relax, he's in the gym flipping and jumping. Jason's in the garden reading.
Jason had been with Bruce for several years after adoption when he had his first public breakdown. He was at the dining table, staring at a big red F on his math exam. And he cried.
Bruce knew Jason had an inferiority complex, but to see it laid out so openly was heart-wrenching.
Tearfully, a sad Jason held up the paper and whispered, "I did my best. Dick said this class was easy. How come when you're good at English, it's only okay? How come you need to be good at math to be smart?"
And Bruce couldn't bring himself to answer.
He wanted to help Jason with math, but he was busy and Dick was busy, so Jason grit his teeth and figured it out on his own. (He barely got a C in the class.)
Later, after the resurrection, Jason is hanging around the manor when Tim rushes inside. His lip is quivering and an essay marked with a bright 63% is clutched in his hand. Instead of lording it over Tim that this one thing came easy to him, Jason sits next to him.
Jason accepts he's the English person in a room full of math geniuses. He talks Tim through the essay because he needed someone to talk him through his own school struggles.
Jason makes the decision to help his brother and Tim manages an A in the class.
And Jason is happy for him. Jason is happy for Tim in his successes and failures. He's there when Tim wins a math award, and there when Tim needs help with an essay.
Jason figured he'd be there since no one was there for him.

When Halsin says: "Please don't trivially bring up such difficult topics. My heart can be wounded just like any other." if you break up with him but then reconsider...
Like I FELT that in the pit of my stomach - I need to know who hurt Halsin enough that he is constantly under the impression that people think his feelings don't matter because of what he looks like or who he is.

Doctor Leslie Thompkins now has a thick Jersey accent because god forbid women have anything
(also because nothing infruriates me more than people who "sound dumb" just because they don't have a posh british or Yale accent- BUT SHES A DOCTOR SO NO ONE CAN SAY SHIT)

Do yall wanna know my actual favorite butterfly effect?
Two people fucking on a mountain indirectly lead to my favorite comic of all time, Under the Red Hood.
Let me explain.
Joseph Hugo married a woman named Sophie Trébuchet in 1797. He was a general in Napoleon's army so they moved around quite a bit. In a letter he would later write to his son, he and his wife had been on a trip on June 24th 1801 to get from one post to the next and he believed this, on the highest peaks of the Vosges Mountains, is where he believed they conceived their son, who would later become the Ocean Man and famed author Victor Hugo.
(Fun fact: Jean Valjeans prisoner number, 24601, is absolutely in reference to his believed conception date)
Victor Hugo grows up and obviously is responsible for many works, such as Les Miserables and The Hunchback of Notre-Dame and was never one to shy away from political commentary. Thus, he was exiled from France and sent to living on the Channel Islands. It was here that he wrote a novel titled The Man Who Laughs.
Like many of his works, this one does have different adaptations. One in particular came out in 1928 starring Conrad Veidt as the character Gwynplaine, or the Man Who Laughs.
Fast forward about a little over a decade later in 1940. A comic book writer comes into work to be greeted by two artists he worked with, one who did significantly less work than the others. These three men were Bill Finger, Bob Kane and Jerry Robinson.
Now the details of this meeting are...well, up in the air. Each man had their own account to it, and Bob Kane especially is the most unreliable given that he took credit for literally everything and we went over 70 years without Bill Finger getting any sort of credit to actually creating Batman. But what we do know is that there was a drawing of a playing card and a face for the joker card; and Bill Finger said, "Hey, that looks like Conrad Veidt in the Man Who Laughs."
They pushed further with that angle in making the character, a new villain for their hero; the obvious, Joker.
Some years later we get a little bit of an origin story in 1951, in the comic The Man Behind the Red Hood! (ALSO written by Bill Finger) Some college students are trying to solve this decades old case of a burglar in a red pill helmet that was called the Red Hood and trying to figure out who it was. Teaming up with Batman and Robin, they find out that the Red Hood was in fact Joker's old alias. He used to be a lab worker that was stealing from a playing card company with that alias. He was caught by Batman and threw himself into some chemical waste to escape, thus becoming the Joker.
This origin has stuck around in some form ever since. The moniker was unused for quite a long time after this, but would eventually find a new home in a different character.
See, in the 80s, Batman's second sidekick, Jason Todd, was killed off in a very brutal fashion after a fucking poll that people could call two different numbers to decide if they were going to save him or not. I will get into why I have so many frustrations with everything surrounding this story another day, but the important thing to know here is that the Joker killed Jason while Jason was trying to save his mother.
And for a good period of time there, Jason became a character that you did not bring back to life. Until they did.
A storyline running from 2005 to 2006 came into life, called Under the Hood. In it, Batman has to fight a new foe taking on the mantle of Red Hood, only to discover its Jason Todd, brought back to life from the Lazarus Pit, and taking on the mantle of the man that murdered him to go fucking murder the Joker and take control of crime in Gotham and do what he believes Bruce couldn't, all while dealing with trauma and feeling replaced.
So yeah. We wouldn't have my favorite character or story if it wasn't for Victor Hugo's parents fucking on a mountain and conceiving him there where "The elevated origin seems to have had effects on [Victor Hugo] so that [his] muse is continually sublime". That is a quote from that letter. Victor Hugo's mountain conception where he got a great muse is the reason for the Joker and Red Hood. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

Ok so I’ve seen your thoughts on Talia being a good mom to both Jason and Damian and generally being a better person vs when she’s morally gray and really only good to Damian, but how do you feel about Bruce being a bad dad? Like personally I don’t like him being abusive but unfortunately…canon does not disprove it 😕🫠. Like do you have hcs or prompts where he switches from one interpretation to the other? Genuinely curious bc my thoughts on him going between these two have me conflicted bc I don’t LIKE him being a bad father, specifically in regards to Jason, but it does kinda fuel some ‘Jason leaves the batfam to go find himself’ stories I’ve seen, but you could argue that Bruce doesn’t NEED to be terrible for that to happen. Idk maybe modern comics have poisoned my ability to ignore Bruce’s history of abusing his children in some way by cranking up that abuse to a solid 20/10 (I’m sure I don’t have to mention what I’m referencing lmao), but it just makes me think. So much would be nicer if he was just a flawed father, but that’s not what his character fully is y’know (this is why I brought up Talia, just realized I was rambling without making that clear lol)
Phew ok, I’ll try to answer this to the best of my abilities!
So keep in mind that these are my personal thoughts and I’m actually not that well versed in comic lore (the comics I’ve read can be counted on one hand sadly but I’m trying to get my hands on more ksksks), and majority of my knowledge comes from research and fanfic.
Okay back to the topic at hand!
Generally I write/read fanfic for some fluffy family feels (and angst) and the occasional romance, hence why I prefer to write Talia and Bruce as being good parents and likable characters in general. I enjoy reading about it, so I enjoy writing it that way.
In regards to Bruce and his canon actions… well, that’s a tough one to answer ngl.
On one hand he’s displayed as a loving adoptive father who absolutely adores is children, on the other hand he’s shown to be ruthless when they violate his no-kill rules (reference to the Batarang incident).
To me this kind of juxtaposition makes little sense, but I’m afraid there are quite a number of character inconsistencies in the franchise from what I’ve seen so…. I don’t know. It’s just such a 180 turnaround to the early concept of the Batman who considers everyone to be redeemable regardless of their crime. Why would that suddenly not apply to his child?
I don’t think I could ever stomach writing him as a genuinely bad father, most I could do to mix it up a little and have him struggle to reach an understanding with Jason regarding his rule over Crime Alley and dealing with his own inability to communicate properly.
Batman was always supposed to be a protector, the “good guy”, but he’s also human. A human with significant trauma that he’s never properly worked through which… can screw with your people skills significantly.
So that’s usually the way I try to look at it whenever I want to write a Bruce who isn’t the World’s Best Dad at the moment. He’s trying, he just doesn’t know how to show it in a way that others can understand, especially his kids. (Yes tho I take full liberty with the more heinous stuff Bruce pulls/pulled in the comics and discard them as if they’re expired candy >.<)
To sum it up, I’m afraid you won’t ever find a fic where either Talia and/or Bruce are genuinely, irredeemably bad. Simply because I personally don’t think that’s how people work in general and because… well, I’m soft and I need some soft parenting in there somewhere. Sorry dear 🥺
Phew ok I think I was rambling a bit here, but I hope that answers your question somewhat? But if you’d like I could totally cook up a prompt for you that deals with Jason and Bruce struggling to come to an understanding and making compromises to be a family again. Feel free to let me know or send another ask if you’d like to stay anonymous 💚💚💚💚

Lynx as my certified bar wench friend I want to know what kind of drinks would you give for MWPP and Lily!!!!! Also what would you recommend for a bat who doesnt drink alcohol and enjoys sweet fruits.
hmmm well james I think is probably a bit of a basic bitch. he’s drinking a pint of lager with the lads, but he’s also not afraid to throw in a cosmo or a margarita when he’s out to have a good time!
for sirius I would recommend something strong and punchy, maybe a twist on a classic like a spiced rum old fashioned or a mezcal sour (this is also my go to—only the best for sirius!)
remus is a cheap whisky and guinness or cask ale lad. my pub is a brewery so I’d try to recommend him a new interesting beer.
peter likes IPAs because that is the drink of psychopaths.
lily is def a gin and tonic girlie. specifically hendricks with cucumber tonic. I think she’d also love a dirty gin martini (but no one ever makes it right—except me, of course.)
I know you didn’t ask about regulus, but I feel passionate that he would drink negronis and be very pretentious about it.
if you came into my pub, bat, I would make you a non-alcoholic french martini because we have lots of fun non-alcoholic spirits! (so that’s pineapple juice, raspberry syrup, and non-alcoholic raspberry ‘vodka’)

I'm new to sims 4 and I randomly found your blog and man, your stories are so well-constructed! I never imagined the sims being used like this and it's been very fun to follow your little guys go about their lives lol if you don't mind me asking, how long have you been creating these intricate stories in the game? And do you know already how your current storyline is going to end or do you go with the flow and see what happens?
ohhh waaaait, that's so exciting!! i legit thought the exact same thing when i first stumbled upon sims stories here on simblr!! AHH! i was like.. wait, i can actually write out all the shit in my head and share it with ppl?! LET'S DO IT!
it warms my lil heart that you enjoy following my pixel ppls lives right along with me 🥺 i suppose i've always kinda come up with some form of story for em, in ts4 anyway, even when i was just playing legacy style for myself and not rlly sharing anything here - way back in 2017/18! that's when i picked up ts4.. before that i played a lot of ts3 but i spent a lot of time making worlds in CAW rather than playing and with ts2/ts1 i think i mostly just played with an empty head 😂 they're a bit of a childhood blur tbh lmao
i don't currently have an "end" in mind for my current story 🤔 not rlly, anyway.. i suppose it's kinda open ended since it's more like a slice of life story u kno, but i do have a lot of ideas written out, and an "end" for Robin's childhood arc! i think we'll do a timeskip to his teen years then, and after that another one so Wren/Byrd will be teens n' Robin will be too still, just like older, in his last year of high school or maybe college idk eventually Forever in Between will end too, but idk how yet.. it'll be right before Robin reaches young adulthood i reckon, since i'll probably start a new, more plot based story with him after that (that's a majorly vague idea for the future for now tho 😅)
i'm a big fan of wingin' it! so who knows where we're going lmaoo, i sure don't!!

Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower is that Butch that you date knowing she has Problems and while you know you cannot fix her per se you are willing to Help her only that like a week into the relationship not only do you realize she has Problems Problems (the irredeemable kind) those Problems occupy a way more important and higher position in her mind than you (or your feelings) ever would. This is topped off by a grand sense of superiority, where She thinks she Knows what's good for you (despite never even asking your opinion on anything really) which inevitably might involve Scientific Experimentation (don't worry, she's better than the other guys, she recognizes where she erred!!!) You dump her and while she admits she messed up it's still your fault Actually.
