Malleus Info Compilation part 13: Halloween
Malleus has a difficult time during Halloween when, in trying to encourage campus visitors to be respectful of school’s rules, he learns of “the Draconia Challenge”, where people photograph themselves touching him for Magicam. The experience upsets Malleus extremely—Silver describes him as “furious”—and we learn from Sebek that someone had also been grabbing onto his horns.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cater diffuses the situation via Magicam, and Malleus concedes that he “almost caused an interspecies conflict over a mere school event…I need to get better control over my emotions”. He also insists on taking responsibility for bringing trouble to Ramshackle Dorm.
The Magicam Monster incident bothers Malleus so much he refuses to attend a meeting of Halloween committee members, with Lilia explaining that "He asked to have some time alone to cool his head". Kalim reflects, "It's Halloween, and he's spending it alone. That must be so sad for him."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Malleus gets his revenge towards the end of the “Terror is Trending” event, and thanks the members of his dorm that made it possible. This Halloween was Malleus’ first time selecting the costumes for Diasomnia Dorm, which is a task that usually falls to Lilia.
Lilia asked him to take it on “if the heir to Briar Valley’s royal throne himself were to select the theme, it would pique the students’ interest”. Malleus accepts the task and, with Ortho’s help, designs costumes to represent “the ghost of a long”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Spectral Soiree, Malleus takes pity on a group of ghosts who had traveled to attend NRC’s Halloween party but did not arrive until after the festivities had ended.
Deciding to throw a new Halloween party, Malleus says, “The school has long maintained a durable barrier around its premises. Combine that with enough power from ghosts, and it would be possible. And if that’s still not enough, I’ll lend you my power”.
Malleus then stops time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The students are unaware that Malleus is behind the problem and assume that both he and Lilia were kidnapped along with the rest of the student body.
At one point Cater remembers Malleus saying, “How could I of all people struggle so?”, which they all interpret to mean that “THE Malleus Draconia was fighting a losing battle”. It is later revealed that he was actually struggling with a piece of music for the pipe organ.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Spectral Soiree involves Malleus announcing that he will “turn every one of (the students) into ghosts” and “perform the finest of requiems over your cold, fallen bodies”, but Silver realizes that Lilia has not actually been possessed and that it was all an act.
Malleus is surprised when the students react with bafflement, having assumed that they were all aware that it was a prelude to a party, and apologizes for causing them grief.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We do not see Malleus suffer any particular consequences for kidnapping 600 students and stopping time, but Ace does tell him that the entire situation was “not cool”. Malleus explains, “It was to keep you entertained until the party was ready. Wasn’t it fun?”
Ace begs him to “PLEASE try to show some awareness of how overwhelmingly powerful you are”. Malleus agrees to take Ace’s words “into consideration” for “next time”, to which Ace responds, “There’s gonna be a NEXT TIME? Shouldn’t you learn something from this?!”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lilia expresses surprise that Ace has complained to Malleus directly, and Malleus agrees, as “most students at school keep their distance. And rather a few of them flee at the sight of me. But not you. You spoke your mind openly and honestly, and without the aid of others”.

FE3H 2: Azure Lightning Boogaloo
Inspired by @randomnameless 's recent post, a chronology of what may happen after AM's ending!
Imperial Year 1187: After the Empire's fall in 1186, the newly crowned King and Archbishop decided to retire the Imperial calendar and mark the year 1187 as the beginning of the new Kingdom Years.
Kingdom Year XX: The well loved King Dimitri passed away :( Wanting to make his wish for peace last forever, Archbishop Byleth introduced new laws that forbid usage of violence within Fodlan. All internal conflicts should now be solved by dance battles, as in memory of King Dimitri who was the champion of the White Heron Cup. However, unknown to Byleth, this became the first crack between the Church and the royal family, as while the Blaiddyds are very good at combats, they absolutely hate dancing :(
Kingdom Year 420: Byleth started to feel lonely and borrowed Rhea's homunculi recipe to make clones of Dimi :(
Kingdom Year 777: Duke Riegan had enough of Blaiddyd women throwing his male family members out of window as holiday entertainment (they call it "The Luna Knight Show") and decided to rebel. After intense training by Count Gloucester, he destroyed the King in their dance battle at Ailell (later known as the Ball of the Lion and Deer). Being ashamed by the defeat and dizzy by the heat, the King couldn't help but punched Duke Riegan once and caused him to break several bones. Archbishop Billy (who was totally not Byleth) had to step in and meditate between them. As a result, Leicester was granted its independence and formed the Sacred Dukedom of Leicester.
Kingdom Year 808: The people in Adrestia still wanted to make Adrestia great again and thus started their own rebellion. Learning from their previous defeat, the Kingdom sent the Blue Lion Dancers as their strongest units to suppress the rebellion, but they were still no match for the experienced dancers from the Mittlefrank Opera House. The story took a sharp turn when Margrave Edmond suddenly appeared on the dancing field and overwhelmed everyone with her Requiem Dance which she inherited from her ancestor Marianne. Adrestia ended up becoming part of the Sacred Dukedom of Leicester.
Kingdom Year 848: After the death of Archduke Claus II, his 3 sons couldn't decide who should inherit the throne because their dance skills were equal. The Dukedom split into Leicester, Adrestia and Mach with each prince ruling one part.
Kingdom Year 859: Archbishop Barney (who was certainly neither Byleth nor Billy) saved a Leicester dancer called Jessica who was attacked by a demonic beast. To cure her injury, Barney used some stock blood that Rhea sent her for Cardinal rituals. She kept her as the Chief Dancer of Seiros.
Kingdom Year 888: As the Grand Duke of Adrestia died without leaving a heir, several nobles of Adrestia plotted to build a new republic that will be jointly ruled by all of them. By studying old documents kept by the Church in Enbarr, they recovered the lost techniques of the legendary Dance of the Goddess. Having it performed by the best dancers of Mittlefrank, they overthrown the Grand Duke of Mach who tried to take over Adrestia and ousted all interference from Leicester (later known as the Red Rose Ball). The Adrestia Republic is officially founded, ruled by the squaretable of the Seven Great Nobles with Duke Aegir as their leader.
Kingdom Year 969: To celebrate the 950th anniversary of peaceful treaty between Fodlan and Almyra, the Officers Academy in Garreg Mach is official renamed to the Dancers Academy, and construction was started to renovate Fodlan's Locket into a dance hall.
Kingdom Year 1024: An uprising occurred in Faerghus as Count Charon refused to let her son Victor inherit her position as Minister of Religious Dances, saying those dances only suit women. The Western Church and their Azure Knights supported Victor and challenged Count Charon to a dance battle. However, the King who happened to be visiting the county was too sick of people dancing at his doorstep that he ordered to exile Victor and dismantle the Western Church. The Central Church protested against this decision but it was ignored, and the Kingdom started to distance themselves from the Church.
Kingdom Year 1111: The renovation of Fodlan's Locket was completed.
Kingdom Year 1139: Byleth's 12th Dimi clone, Daniel, was born. Later, he fell in love with Jessica.
Kingdom Year 1159: Daniel and Jessica's daughter, Diana, was born. Unfortunately, Daniel's frail body couldn't stand the excitement of becoming a dad, causing him to die of shock :( Jessica couldn't accept the loss, and found her kid "not normal" as she kept crushing milk bottles when people try to feed her. Archbishop Hera (who was definitely unrelated to any of Byleth, Billy or Barney) was also sus as she appeared eerily happy whenever she saw Diana broke an iron bar off her bed. Eventually, Jessica decided to start a fire to escape with Diana, living as a wandering street performer.
Kingdom Year 1180: Princess Elizabeth of Faerghus, Prince Diego of Leicester and Clark the son of Duke Aegir enrolled in the Dancers Academy. In their first field trip, Jessica's dancer group happened to stop by and made a performance. All three heirs were fascinated by Diana's dance and insisted that she came with them to Garreg Mach. Against Jessica's will, Diana became the dance instructor for the Golden Deers and herself returned to her old position of Chief Dancer of Seiros.
Kingdom Year 1181: After yet another year of the Lions not receiving a single vote in the White Heron Cup, Princess Elizabeth revealed that she was the Ice King who had been causing incidents to disturb dance lessons throughout the year, and declared war on the Church. She claimed her goal was to free Fodlan from the Church's oppressive rule with the Dance System, and also that the Archbishop was an inhuman monster who had no heartbeat, as she learned from the secret knowledge that had been verbally passed down from king to king. Frustrated by her betrayal, Hera fended off the Kingdom Army with the help of Diana, but Diana accidentally fell off a cliff and she alone couldn't beat the power of Major Crest of Blaiddyd. Hera gushed over how the Great Savior King Dimitri had always loved her and supported her as she was captured by Elizabeth, who ignored her.
Kingdom Year 1185: Diana woke up and reunited with Diego, who was exiled from Derdiru because his uncle Rubert launched a coup, claiming that Leicester had always been part of Faerghus and Riegan a branch of Blaiddyd. Adrestia stayed neutral because while Clark, as an Aegir, thinks that dancing is cool, he was actually half Brigid and felt like Hera may be racist towards them as she built a dance hall for the Almyrans at Fodlan's Throat, but didn't build anything for them at Fodlan's Fang :(
Kingdom Year 1186: After joining forces with the rest of the deers and some Church knights, Diana and Diego crossed Ailell and fought a three-way battle with Elizabeth and Clark who was also there for some reason at Tailtean. While victorious, they lost a lot of people including Diego's second father, Count Gloucester :( Diego reconsidered his decision to try defeat the Kingdom asap, and concluded they'd better retake Derdiru first to gain more troops. As they turned around to defeat Rubert, Enbarr got attacked by Duke Fraldarius and so Clark sent a request for aid to Leicester. Diego and Diana answered the request and defeated Duke Fraldarius, only to be met with the surprise that Clark is leaving Fodlan and will hand over his family heirloom Lance of Assar along with all of Adrestia to Diego. Finally, as they marched towards Fhirdiad, Diego tried to make peace with Elizabeth, as she was his childhood friend back when she visited Derdiru and taught him dancing (also that they were related 1000+ years ago). But Elizabeth got even angrier, saying someone so talented with dancing like him will never understand how those without such talent feel, and transformed herself into Edgemon Elizabeth. After a long hard battle, Diana defeated the Edgemon with the power of her own Major Crest of Blaiddyd, and rescued Hera from the dungeon of the Fhirdiad Castle. Hera handed over her position as Archbishop to Diana, who married the newly crowned Archduke Diego, joining Rhea in her retired life at Zanado.
Dukedom Year ????: Byleth and Rhea enjoying Zanado fruits in their little hut, making jokes over the news that some "Storm Duke" had been causing troubles in Garreg Mach recently.

July 5, 2003 - Battle Royale II: Requiem is released theatrically in Japan.
The dystopian action-thriller film and sequel to Battle Royale (2000) was written by Kenta Fukasaku and Norio Kida. Fukasaku also served as director after his father, Kinji Fukasaku (the director of the first film), died shortly after filming had begun. It starred Tatsuya Fujiwara, Ai Maeda and Shugo Oshinari.
There is an extended version titled Battle Royale II: Revenge which features over 20 minutes of additional footage that didn’t make the first cut.

What Makes a King? - A Concept Overview & Analysis
By: Peggy Sue Wood | @peggyseditorial
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Above is my favorite scene from the manhwa King’s Maker (from Season 1 Episode/chapter 14).
I love this scene because it perfectly embodies the ideal of what it takes to be a just or good leader in the fictional world of this particular story (not just seen as one publicly, but actually being one). It's an idea that relies heavily on the concept of noblesse oblige, which tends to pop-up in stories featuring nobles, royalty, or something similar. While also expanding on this idea of the necessity for chivalry that draws its definition and history from stories of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round. In modern-day stories, I would argue that much of our current interpretations and ideas of knightly/chivalric qualities come from Geoffrey of Monmouths stories of the king and his knights as well as the tales’ later retellings. [For those that don’t know noblesse oblige is the idea of inferred responsibility from privileged people to act with generosity and nobility toward those less privileged and chivalry is defined as a knightly system with its religious, moral, and social code. Geoffrey of Monmouth is the author of the first narrative account of King Arthur's life that we know of.]
You see, as someone who has studied literature in school, particularly Classical Antiquity and where we've gone from since, I've always been really interested in this idea of what makes a King, particularly in stories where we see a fight for the throne because it's hard to maintain these ideal qualities in what is often a bloody battle for power among people who have little to no qualms about committing vile acts to maintain what they have or gain more power, money, etc. This question of what makes a King? is a one I find myself asking often when I read fantasy stories that involve any question of a throne or it’s inheritance. However, I use the term "king" loosely to encompass the concept of a rightful ruler as defined by the set up an author gives in their individual stories.
In popular works like Game of Thrones, in which we see much of the darker sides to knighthood, oaths, nobility, royalty, and so on--we see the grim reality of Geoffrey of Monmouth's time. In fact, some argue that Geoffrey's account and the focus on the knighthood and Arthur's reign amid war and beyond was a subversive aim to inspire real change among the dark abuses of power that many members of the knightly class, nobility, and above, held. In a movie like The Knight's Tale, we see this too in which it is the common man that depicts the embodiment of a true knight's spirit--one that is loyal, protective, chivalrous, deserving of love and admiration, and so on--rather than the majority of the knights born to their status. Shakespeare, who features many noble and royal families in his tales, also marks some of these qualities--showing audiences both redeeming features and cruelty among the classes (a rare depiction that landed him, at times, in the hot seat).
These stories draw me in, as they do many others, and I think we can draw a conclusion on the trials a good or just king, knight, noble, or other must embody to achieve their "throne" by the end--one that is a bit more clear than The King Maker's summary above.
Each potential "king" must succeed in a trail depicting one or more of the seven knightly virtues (defined here: http://marktoci.weebly.com/7-knightly-virtues.html), those being:
“Courage.  More than bravado or bluster, a knight must have the courage of the heart necessary to undertake tasks which are difficult, tedious or unglamorous, and to graciously accept the sacrifices involved.
Justice.  A knight holds him- or herself to the highest standard of behavior, and knows that “fudging” on the little rules weakens the fabric of society for everyone.
Mercy.  Words and attitudes can be painful weapons, which is why a knight exercises mercy in his or her dealings with others, creating a sense of peace and community, rather than engendering hostility and antagonism.
Generosity.  Sharing what’s valuable in life means not just giving away material goods, but also time, attention, wisdom and energy - the things that create a strong, rich and diverse community.
Faith.  In the code of chivalry, “faith” means trust and integrity, and a knight is always faithful to his or her promises, no matter how big or small they may be.
Nobility.  Although this word is sometimes confused with “entitlement” or “snobbishness,” in the code of chivalry it conveys the importance of upholding one’s convictions at all times, especially when no one else is watching.
Hope.  More than just a safety net in times of tragedy, hope is present every day in a knight’s positive outlook and cheerful demeanor - the ‘shining armor’ that shields him or her, and inspires people all around.”
Suppose one were to look to the code of chivalry defined in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. In that case, those virtuous qualities might instead be represented as friendship, generosity, chastity, courtesy, and piety/humility.
Failing to pass such trails, the potential "king" would instead display a knightly sin (defined here: https://chivalrytoday.com/knightly-sins/), and often, if not always, in a story suffers karma for such actions.
The idea of a Hero's Journey, a story form I'm sure everyone has heard defined many times before, includes these trails even though they are rarely explicitly spelled out in a summary of the form. This may be because many heroes rising, of which these "kings" are, already embody these virtues and only struggle with or require a trial against one of them.
Tumblr media
As it stands, we can often see in advance a potential king's tragedy by understanding this idea. For example, we know that Wolfgang Goldenleonard, the prince seen above in The King's Maker excerpt I’ve provided, is going to be the King, birth order be damned. Will there be trails? Of course. And he passes them securing his crown at the end of Season 1; and continues to pass them thus maintaining his throne, which we can see currently in Season 2.
By extension, we can see the character's whose stories will end in failure based on how long it takes them to pass the knightly trails, if they even can pass them. For example, Richard III in Requiem of the Rose King, which is sure to end in tragedy--not simply because the Shakespearean plays the work draws on tend to end that way but because Richard’s character has changed from the loyal son/brother.
King, in this sense, could probably easily be replaced by the word hero or knight... but the idea stands that to make them worthy of their title they seem to need one or more of these qualities.
So as you read the next chapter of your favorite knight's tale, or a battle for the throne, or a rise to power--consider whether or not your hero/protagonist is capable of achieving these virtues. You will probably find that even the characters that seem villainous, like the self-ish Seo Joo-Heon from Tomb Raider King or Naofumi Iwatani from The Rising of The Shield Hero, pass the test we've defined here.

HBO Max New Releases: August 2021
https://ift.tt/3A1bKHN
Back when WarnerMedia (which technically no longer exists in the same form) announced that it would be premiering its entire slate of 2021 films on HBO Max, this is the kind of month they likely had in mind. For HBO Max’s list of new releases in August 2021 is highlighted by an honest-to-goodness blockbuster.
The Suicide Squad is set to premiere Aug. 5 on HBO Max. This film featuring some of DC Comics’ most curious villains borrows its name, format, and many of its characters from the David Ayers-directed 2016 film Suicide Squad. This time around, the rogues gallery is directing by James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) and his colorful disposition. In addition to The Suicide Squad, August sees the arrival of the Hugh Jackman-starring Reminiscence on Aug. 20.

How The Suicide Squad is Different from Guardians of the Galaxy
By Mike Cecchini
It’s a good month for movies overall on HBO Max. Many intriguing library titles arrive on Aug. 1, including Collateral, The Fugitive (1993), The Shawshank Redemption, and Spawn. The Jurassic Park trilogy (Aug. 14), and Godzilla v. Kong (Aug. 17) make their return to the Warner streaming service a little later on.
HBO Max’s original TV offerings can’t compete with The Suicide Squad in August 2021, but there is still plenty to enjoy. The third season of erstwhile DC Universe series Titans premieres on Aug. 12. That will be followed by the second season of former Comedy Central delight The Other Two.
