The streets were your home and starvation was your companion. Crime is an everyday necessity, from petty crimes to thievery, you did it all.

“You’ll live a lavish life, you will get your three meals a day. But you will do everything I order, do you accept?”

So when an opportunity to get out of this shitty life, you took it immediately without thinking. Anything to sleep without having to worry about yourself being unsafe. Anything to have food on the table.

You did a lot of things for them too. Like instigating mental shutdowns and collecting connections like it's that one franchise. The latest job you completed was dismantling a company, at first you were kind of intimidated. But after kissing up to the higher-ups, you managed to turn the company against each other, ruining the company in the process within six months.

It was… hard at first. Not because of the corrupt adult but because of the younger kids who were involved because they were family. You always thought that maybe if you intervened a little bit, the kids could avoid their downfall but those stupid adults chose to involve their children. You gave up, you let them get consumed by their greed and begrudgingly didn’t bat an eyelash to the children who were in misery.

It ruined their livelihoods, you watched as the children got tossed onto the streets never seeing them again. Anger filled you but you held your tongue, you had to, anything to not live like that ever again. Even if it means sacrificing your humanity, you’ll do anything.

You didn’t like him. Partly due to the fact that he’s quite skilled with his personas and that he’s the first persona user that you need to get rid off. But the main reason is because of his resilience.

How are you able to smile with your friends, knowing that people gossiped behind your back?

Why are you fighting against the stronger opposing power?

“Why are you so nice to me?” The words you’ve been itching to speak out finally escaped from your mouth.

He raised his eyebrows, confused about your sudden question and you already regret opening your mouth now.

“Sorry, weird question. Don’t mind that.” You stood up abruptly, digging through your bag for cash.

“Because you’re dear to me.”

After that day, you tried your best to avoid the raven-haired boy. Swerving to the other direction whenever you see him. Completely ignoring Phantom Thieves meetings unless necessary. You just can’t face him, who was so kind, and you whose hands are stained with blood.

Your phone vibrated, indicating that the gc was alive again and you sighed tiredly. Turning your phone into silent mode isn’t the best idea since you don’t know when he would call and order you to do something. You admit defeat and just placed your phone away and examined your surroundings.

For some reason, this place gave you nostalgia but not the good one. Your heartbeat picked up when you catch a glimpse of that familiar alley.

Someone called your name and you froze in fear, your heart feels like it's coming out of your throat. The one responsible stood in front of you, unaware of your inner dilemma.

“I knew it! It wasn’t you who did it, papa said you were a wolf in sheep’s clothing but I knew he was wrong!”

Your mouth opened but no words came out.

Run. That was the only thing your guilt-ridden mind could, so you did. Ran until your legs felt like it was burning, you tripped multiple times opening fresh wounds on your legs but that didn’t stop you.

The only thing that stopped you was when you bumped into someone particularly hard that you thought would send both of you tumbling to the floor but surprisingly they managed to catch you upright.

Apologies spilled from your lips, only stopping when the arms that held you up wrapped around you and you gasped, looking up immediately. Eyes widening when yours meets his worried ones and you break.

“I’m sorry!”

“I’m sorry.” You suddenly blurted out without looking away from the scene in front of you and he turned to you, confusion painted on his face.

“I know you accept me for who I am but I’ve done horrible things.” He tensed up when he realized what you were implying and you smiled, proud that he was so smart to understand you immediately. A few steps, that was the only thing you could do before he pulled you into his embrace.

His chest pressed onto you, his heartbeat beating so loud that you could feel it pulsing on your skin. Before you could actually lose your will, you forced yourself to look at him, your hand cradling his face and he welcomed it like a fish who was left out of the water for long.

“Thank you for giving me a chance to live freely. But I have to atone for my sins.”

Your thanks didn’t deter him from letting you go so you did the last resort.

You tipped forward, your lips meeting his for a second which surprised him, loosening his hold on you for a second and you used it to push him hard.

For the last time, you ran. But this time not to his arms but to your demise.

Unsheathing your pistol, you aimed it at the button that would separate the two of you forever. You glanced at him, whispering your last words to him, praying that somehow, somehow he would understand it like he always did.

“Thank you for loving me.” And you shoot.

hi :)

I’m typing this all at like. Almost 11 at night so excuse me please if it’s at all rambling or weird idk. I just felt like since it’s been over a year since I genuinely posted anything I need to say some stuff about me just going ghost.

So hi :) to old and the somehow new followers I’ve accumulated. How are all of you? I missed you all and this account a lot and I feel really shitty just kind of abandoning it the way I did so I think it’s time I give some explanations? Or like… I don’t know, life updates? Which feels weird to say considering I’ve always been very anonymous on this account, which I will continue to do in this so. Please enjoy some basic info about my life

1) I graduated college :) Which I think was a huge part of why I had to abandon this account for a minute. Those of you who are unaware, I was a studio art major, and if you think that studio art is an “easy” major you’d be wrong! That shit kicked my ass like no other. “Art school” just used to be old rich dudes giving a little freak some money and told him to paint or sculpt some dicks and god do I wish that was how it still was. I had to like, come up with concepts and reason behind my work, and create a shit ton of it to. I put my entire soul into that shit, defend the hell out of it in critiques, and my final work means so much to me. If I wasn’t anonymous on here I’d without a doubt post it because. It truly feels like I ripped out my little dumb heart and put it on paper/canvas

But with that, I’ve had to become real adult :( I’m doing what I can to make money off my work (which is going better than imagined) while also doing some part time work. It’s great, but very tiring.

Also 2) (this part will be short I swear) I have a long term partner now. I won’t say exactly how long we’ve been together, but I do live with them. And as weird as it may sound, I’ve never told them about this account or my writing. They know I like kpop, but not this side of it. And I think part of me is still weighing my emotions towards writing smut about kpop idols while being in a committed/monogamous relationship. But I digress.

3) With how busy I became around the time that my posting schedule really took a hit, I’ve also just fallen away from kpop :/ I still listen to the music and watch music videos and stuff. But the fandom side and the non music related videos, I completely lost on that now. And I don’t like that. Being into kpop made me really happy and I liked watching boys be silly. But it just feels like I’ve missed so much now. I like a lot of groups, but more than anything, I miss nct so much :( I don’t even know what they’re really doing now. I know some of them will be entering the military soon so I feel like maybe the fandom will slow down, and as someone who used to run a 5sos account, I know what it’s like to just feel like a fandom is dying. And idk. I doubt kpop fandoms are like that but. Okay yeah now im rambling anyways!

This is all to say, I miss this part of my life a lot. Keeping up to date with music, watching funny videos of my boys, talking to you guys, and writing. I still have so many stories half finished. So many ideas that im just so disappointed didn’t see the light of day. Maybe I’ll get around to it again, but im not exactly sure if/when I’ll be in the headspace to write smut. Which I know, I can write without involving smut. But some of my ideas kind of needs it I think? And if im being honest, would anyone read my stuff if there wasn’t smut in it? Idk and I don’t know if I want to know.

Anyways if you’ve read this, thank you but like also. Im so sorry about how much there is lmao. If you want to send me a message please do. I don’t know if I’ll respond to what’s in my inbox now, since I just feel like I waited to long and I’d feel like a dick responding now. But I promise to keep an eye out. I get really anxious with dms and I’m horrible about keeping conversations going there, so my inbox is really the best. I won’t promise I’ll get to it like, the second you send it, as, awhile ago I turned off my notifications for tumblr. 1) because sometimes the notifications were cringe lmao. Like I’m very liberal with who sees/handles my phone and some of those notifications were clearly for fanfiction and I don’t need to be exposed like that lmao. But also because I started getting very, very anxious about how many notes/likes a fic got and how quickly and it just was so bad for my mental health. But that’s not the point.

The point is, I’d love to hear from any of you guys again, be able to talk about kpop and just shoot the shit. Which if I’m not writing (for now, we’ll see about the future because those old ideas are still gnawing at my brain) I understand if the traction and interest in my account has worn off. But either way.

My Issues With Helluva Boss

I have been a fan of this show ever since the pilot. I loved the concept, and I still love most of the characters. What I am not a fan of is that it tries to be a comedic slapstick show like Family Guy at one moment, and then be a serious melodrama the next scene. The show started with the premise of being a dark humored workplace comedy surrounding a group of demonic assassins from Hell, and then quickly amounted into what felt like a walking advertisement for fanfiction headcanons and shippers. My opinions are mine alone, and while I do enjoy this show, there is a lot that I feel needs to be done with the characters and overall writing of the show that would benefit the show greatly, tell a far more compelling story, and give viewers a far more substantial end-product than what we currently have.

If you like the show as-is, then I am glad that you find joy in what the show currently is. However, for many viewers of the show, whether they be long-time fans like me, or people trying to get into the show, there are a ton of compounding issues in the show that can and should be better handled than what they currently are. It isn’t “hate” to want a better product than what you are given, or to suggest ways to make it better. And before anyone says “it’s Hell” in a way to dismiss characters being shitty, I want you to go to your local penitentiary and talk to the people locked up there. Despite a lot of people there doing bad things, almost none of the convicts are cartoonishly evil people; there is a thing known as complexity after all.

Chapter 1 - Stolas and Blitzo

While these two are the main characters of the series, it’s honestly hard to find arcs in the story that don’t revolve around these two in some way shape or form. As for the relationship between the two, in the first several episodes of Season 1, it was originally written as if Blitzo wanted nothing to do with Stolas, and that because of the vast swath of imbalances between the two, they would never be compatible and that they were never meant to be. However, as the show went on, it became less about Blitzo and his relationship with the rest of IMP and their jobs as assassins, and more about the relationship Blitzo has with Stolas.

Both characters are presented in a way where everything that happens to them isn’t their fault; instead, it’s the fault of everyone else, and that everyone in their lives has been holding them back. Neither one is capable of taking accountability for their actions. Neither one is capable of being an adult and realizing that their actions have consequences and that they are the only ones to blame when things go wrong regarding the people close to them. The show makes everyone else who wronged them into the bad guys, and they can avoid their issues by it all just being written away instead of actually having any sort of closure. Instead of Blitzo realizing that the trail of broken interpersonal relationships and the wreckage of his past coming back to haunt him is his fault, it is written as if he is innocent, and everyone who hates him are the bad guys.

Stolas on the other hand is shown to be the innocent victim at all times. Any time he does something that is objectively wrong, like him constantly neglecting and ignoring his daughter in favor of pursuing his sexual fantasies with Blitzo or bashing Octavia’s mother right in front of her, it’s casually brushed to the side, and instead, characters like Octavia are villainized for standing up for themselves due to the poor treatment from him, all because “he’s trying” or that at the end of the day, he is the victim and can do no wrong. Whenever Stolas is 100% objectively in the wrong and due his comeuppance, everyone manages to forgive him instantaneously, or if he and a character had a falling-out (like him and Blitzo), they are back to acting like they normally would like nothing ever happened.

My solution: Have both characters get their due comeuppance. Have Stolas realize that Blitzo never loved him in the first place and was using him and have him deal with the consequences of him putting his own daughter on the backburner for his love-affair. Have him realize that his choices have ruined the relationships with the people he held closest to him due to his lust and greed. Have Blitzo understand that he is the sole factor in everything in his life going pear-shaped. From his lack of friends to people no longer wanting to associate with him because of how he behaves and treated people and have him at least try to make amends in an attempt to fix the damage he caused in his life and the lives of other people.

Chapter 2 - Lack of Development for Female Characters

Very few of the female characters in the show have their moments of development and character growth. The male characters of the show like Blitzo, Stolas, Moxxie, and the much of the male cast members have their backgrounds explored at length. The only female character in the show that has any sort of character development has been Octavia, which even then, it’s more so that she starts to resent her father for neglecting her, and then magically forgives him over the course of 20 minutes. Meanwhile characters like Stella, Millie and Loona don’t really have any character traits besides being associated with the male characters; like Stella being Stolas’s abusive ex-wife, Millie just being Moxxie’s badass wife, or Loona being Blitzo’s bitchy and abusive adoptive daughter.

Millie in several instances has had opportunities for character development and fleshing-out, however the writers have not really expanded on her background much, if at all, even in what was supposed to be her own episode. All that we know about Millie is that she grew up on a farm, has a lot of siblings, got into fights as a kid, is good at killing, and is married to Moxxie. Another character that has been woefully underdeveloped has been Stolas’s ex-wife, Stella. She has just been a one-dimensional villain because she has abused Stolas and hired a hitman to kill him after he cheated on her. She hasn’t been shown to have any sort of relationship with her own daughter and has almost no character traits outside of her being an abusive ex. Loona was only given one scene in the adoption center where she was shown to have had a rough life. It never gives her any motivation for why she constantly treats the ones close to her badly, or why she can talk to Octavia about Stolas trying to be a good dad, yet she will punt-kick Blitzo in the balls less than a minute later.

Octavia on the other hand has been completely trivialized, and her issues with her father are presented as if they can just be easily dismissed or that she has to forgive him. Instead of showing that her father neglecting her all the time, compounded by the fact that her father tore apart her life by cheating on her mother, has caused her to grow bitter and resentful of him, it’s dismissed, and all is forgiven at the drop of a hat. The issues regarding why she feels the way that she does and causes her to run away at times are never addressed fully or given proper closure.

My solution: Give the audience more in-depth reasons as to why Stella is the person she is. Make it seem like she isn’t just some one-dimensionally evil bitch. Her and Stolas’s marriage could’ve been great for a little while, but slowly turned resentful and distant over time. But most importantly, give her any kind of parental relationship with Octavia. Give Millie some proper fleshing out as a character instead of what she has been and give her more depth besides being the badass woman that Moxxie decided to marry. Give Loona an actual reason to be the way that she is in the present, not just growing up in an orphanage.

Chapter 3 - Horrible Gay “Representation”

This section is going to be shorter, but when it comes to the gay “representation” in the show, it usually comes across as fetishization of same-sex couples, with those couples being presented as borderline to outright sex-pests. Straight couples like Blitzo and Verosika, or Moxxie and Millie are presented as having normal relationships for the most part, while the non-straight relationships are presented as being driven solely by lust. Whether it be Blitzo and Stolas, or Moxxie and Chaz, all of the gay characters come across as dick obsessed yaoi stereotypes.

My solution: Gay couples are just people as well. We have the same type of relationship dynamics that you can find in straight relationships that can and still do still apply. Usually being that these are two people who love each other and want to see what life has to offer each other, together. Some couples are far more sexual compared to others, however, there is a distinct difference between a couple being more sexual, opposed to being a hentai stereotype of gay relationships. Present their relationships as normal relationships, not like the only reason they’re together is that they both have a penis.

Chapter 4 - Tonal Clashes

One thing that Helluva Boss tries to be is a slapstick comedy like Family Guy, characters being messy people like in Bojack Horseman, a musical, and a melodramatic serial drama, all wrapped in the package of gore and black humor. A good example is how the show portrays abuse. While abuse that is directed towards Stolas is presented as absolutely reprehensible and you should feel bad about it, meanwhile the abuse that is thrown towards Blitzo and Moxxie is shown to be comedic.

It has proven to be a repeating theme with the show. One moment we will have a scene that aims to tug on your heartstrings, while the next is a slapstick scene tantamount to Peter Griffin falling down the stairs, or some sex joke. In what way is this supposed to mesh together? How would this be any different than if a movie showed a guy and how horribly depressed he is after getting divorced and how he now has to figure out his life, only then to cut to a scene where his friend is taking a dump with comically loud fart sounds? The way how emotional scenes in the show are presented goes against the very nature of the show itself. If Helluva Boss is supposed to be a comedy at heart, that just makes the gut wrenchingly emotional and dramatic scenes just feel out of place and makes them feel difficult to take seriously.

My solution: Pick a genre and stick with it. Flip-flopping between what genre you want your show to be at one given moment is not conducive to good storytelling. In fact, the serious melodrama and slapstick comedy grind against each other pretty hard and don’t really mesh. It’s hard to find comedic scenes funny when you had a depressing scene just a few moments prior, and hard to take a serious moment seriously when you had goofy slapstick comedy and sex jokes before that. If you want your show to be a goofy slapstick show like Family Guy or American Dad, then go for it and stick to it, the same applies if you want to make the show a serious drama like The Sopranos.

Conclusion

Look, I love Helluva Boss. I mean would I write ‘x reader’ stories for IMP and have old Gmod screenshots with Helluva Boss characters in my portfolio of work if I didn’t like the show? I love the setting and a good deal of the characters, and I want to see the show actually stand out and succeed for all the right reasons, not fall into obscurity and ridicule because of what the show currently is. The concept and some of the ideas that the show has are brilliant and would be amazing if they were executed correctly. However, what I have noticed about the show is that good writing is substituted for fan-service, previous events are retconned to appease a rather small, yet belligerent sect of the fanbase, and both comedic and deeply serious themes are being undermined alike by each other.

I understand liking a show and wanting to defend it. Hell, I used to and still defend the Star Wars Prequels, but even though I love and defend the Prequels, I understand some of the jarring moments within those movies and how they could’ve been presented better. I feel that the fandom that Helluva Boss has needs to learn that nuance and critical thinking to better argue to the creators what needs to be changed, or what doesn’t: what works and what doesn’t. As the show currently is, there is a lot that should be changed to deliver a better project and it can make the show even better than what it is.

What me putting my shitty ocs in these posts is like. I made posts about both of them probably gonna say this kind of stuff every time I post these kind of things but I don’t want people to be too confused.

Glass Joe

- Grew up in a catholic home but now as an adult doesn’t practice the religion really. He will eat meat on a Friday during lent. He doesn’t know what the fuck he is now he just considered himself spiritual or just a really bad catholic(not self projecting lmao)

- His family wasn’t really religious they only went to church sometimes but his mom wanted to do the no eating meat on Fridays during lent thing for some reason

- His sister just drops her kids off at his house randomly most of the time on Wednesdays because apparently French children only have like half a day of school those days(could be wrong) he loves his nieces but he hates when his sister just drops them off without warning because he has a life too.

- He loves silk textures. I feel like his boxing shorts are just really silky too

- Deadass walking around the locker room in a robe with a towel over his head after he’s done in the shower I drew an example back in like December

Yes that’s the same robe he’s wearing in the pity party drawings I made

- Protective over his hair but he doesn’t mind if people touch it as long as they ask and are gentle

- His hair is also pretty soft and he takes good care of it to prevent further damage from when he bleached it himself and a chunk fell out.

- Into Rococo art. I took a humanities class at the beginning of the year and looked into the rococo art movement a bit and apparently it’s French so I always thought he would like that kind of stuff.

- uses a lavender sleep spray

- tries not to get too angry in public. Sometimes he just needs to leave the room to just pout and let it all out sometimes even crying out of anger

- has quite the collection of sweaters and cardigans.

- Loves baking cookies for his girlfriend Eleanor. Shes a baker herself but she loves his cookies more than her own

Von Kaiser

- Cuts his own hair this fucking video is literally him

- secretly a cross dresser I mean this one might be kind of canon because of the weird chibi drawing of him in a Japanese manual for the nes game. Some of the other ones were so racist though ;-;

- Wasn’t really interested in working with children it just sort of happened

- Either way he cares about his students genuinely even if it doesn’t seem like it

Disco kid

- got banned on Roblox for a day for saying suck toe(totally not based on my cousin who is like the same age as him also getting banned for that) yes I’m sharing this drawing again

- Singing as loud as possible in the locker room showers

- If he has kids they aren’t going anywhere near the mall Easter bunnies and Santa’s he doesn’t trust them and neither should you

- He never hits the villagers with nets in animal crossing

- Has two sisters one older one younger

Aran Ryan

- Afraid of needles

- Has weight issues. He’s too focused on numbers on the scale. He knows nothing is wrong but I think some things the people around him said growing up affected him.

- I mentioned his sister Freya also has body issues in my post about her and Aran tries to support her because he doesn’t want her thinking that way about her body like he does. I imagine a lot of the women on his father’s side are naturally more curvy and he doesn’t want his sister to be ashamed of her natural body type.

- Still visits his grandmas house on his dad’s side even as an adult. He’s one of the only things she has of his dad that she has left.

- Plays Roblox with Disco kid and forces Narcis to play with them. He also bullies kids on there

- His mom was struggling fanatically a bit when his sister was about to go into secondary school. He just got into boxing at that point and was getting paid well so he paid for her school uniforms so she didn’t have to be stuck in his old ones that were too big and had rips in the pants that would probably fall down on her. He insisted he’d at least buy her some skirts because she’s not walking around school like that. He also felt bad because she literally cried at the thought of wearing a “boys uniform”

Narcis Prince

- Was like one of those rich British kids in tv shows and movies.

- He snoops in people’s shit all the time. Looking through drawers and reading peoples diaries.

- Would say British schools are crazier than American schools and than flip out at the stories in American schools and regret what he said instantly

- Tries to look after Freya to get on Aran’s good side. They have a complicated relationship. Deadass tries to put her to bed at 8:00 saying some shit like “young ladies your age need to be in bed by 8:00”

I do like complaining about t*en w*lf, it’s a hobby honestly. I’ve been thinking a lot about the parents lately, so I decided to give my brutally honest opinions about each of them. In case you don’t want to read all of my opinions, TLDR I don’t like most of the parents.

If you do want to hear my reasonings, I’ll put it under the cut because there is a lot of negativity.

These are my opinions and I’m explaining why I feel the way I do. You are by no means obligated to agree with me, and I’m not saying your opinions are wrong, all I ask is you are respectful.

This is my interpretation of the characters and their actions (as parents, not every single decision they’ve ever made). My interpretation may be influenced by my own experiences. If you disagree, I welcome you make your own post. If you really hate what I have to say, block me.

I do try to look at good and bad parenting decisions from each parent, but depending on what the act itself is, some hold more weight than others, as well as the number of good vs bad.

Let’s start with the dads

Noah Stilinski

Good

Said he would burn the sheriff’s station to the ground to protect Stiles

Was frantically looking for him when he went missing (on multiple occasions)

Pointed a gun at Chris when he thought he was going to shoot “Stiles”

Tried to help him get out of the train station

Stopped drinking (this is twofold, it was good for Stiles and for himself)

Bad

In regards to the first point, he followed it up with ‘a good way to forgive yourself is to forgive someone else.’ He made it all about Scott. I know he wasn’t aware of what Scott said, but Scott doesn’t need to be forgiven

“I don’t want to feel worse by yelling at my son” this sounds to me like he blames Stiles for getting fired. He shouldn’t have been fired, but he also shouldn’t be blaming Stiles

Stiles comes to him with XYZ and Noah doesn’t believe him. Scott comes to him with XYZ and he believes him. Not cool to believe someone else over your own kid, especially when they said the same thing. This happens multiple times

Edit to add: He basically calls Stiles a liar and never apologizes for it

Noah agreed to let Stiles to go Eichen. Even if he tried to back out later, he still let him go through with it

This one seems more minor, but not telling your kid who you’re going on a date with. Kinda awkward that it’s his crush’s mom

He leaves Stiles with Claudia. He thinks his job is more important than to support his son and his dying wife. He also did this knowing that Claudia assaulted Stiles. That’s not a great way to say you care about your kid (Noah, not Claudia, her too though)

“Thank you, son I should have had.” This is not funny. I don’t give a fuck what Stiles said before this. That’s not funny. You don’t joke about wanting someone else to be your kid. My dad made it very obvious he loved my step-brothers more than me and that shit is painful. (Additionally I’m sick of seeing “if you think that’s bad parenting, you had good parents.” I think that’s bad parenting and I had a shitty parent. He doesn’t know where Stiles is (in "Fury”) when the gun goes off and he calls out for Scott first. Before Stiles. He cares more about Scott’s than Stiles’s well-being. Even if he did know where Stiles was, you call out for your kid first to make sure they’re okay

Yelling “I’m the dad, you’re the son!” Obviously Stiles does not feel like a child in this relationship. He’s too busy being an adult

Additional note: I have no problem with Noah acting like a father figure to those who don’t have dads or good dads, but he should really focus on being a good dad to his own kid first. So far he’s not doing a bang up job.

Chris Argent

Allowed her to take mental health days come season 3

Bad

Told Allison she was responsible for the deaths of everyone if she didn’t tell him who the kanima was. Even if that was true, saying that to your kid’s face and showing them a corpse killed by the kanima is not a good move

Kidnapped his daughter, probably traumatizing her, and implied he would be forced to kill her if she were to change into a werewolf (the last part screams conditional love. And don’t come at me with “that was season 2, he changed later.” No, he didn’t. Chris is not an ally to werewolves, only Scott, and I will fight you)

Emotionally manipulated her into not seeing Scott again by threatening to kill him. (He’s also a hypocrite because in season 1 Kate also held a gun to Scott’s head and he said that wasn’t okay. Doesn’t matter if he wasn’t going to shoot Scott, unlike his sister, threatening it is bad enough)

Allison tells Scott not to laugh when she talks about archery, she also tells Jackson not to laugh before she confides something in him. This sounds like Chris and Victoria blow her off. She still has a box of art she produced from over her life claiming all of it was terrible. It sounds like Chris and Victoria said that to her. If she really truly hated it, she probably wouldn’t keep it. At least not in her room, maybe in storage, but at the moment it’s sitting there as a reminder she’s not good enough

Hid a lot of information from her (the truth about Victoria, the hunter thing – if she was meant to carry on the job, he waited an awful long time to get her into it, but whatever. The fact that he knew about the telluric currents and Gerard being alive)

This is the big one. This is it for me. She told him she loves him and HE DOESN’T SAY IT BACK!!!!

You tell your kid you love them, especially if they say it first. He kissed her head and fucking walked away. I don’t care what your familial love language is, if you can’t tell a person that you either helped make and/or raised or whatever that you love them, don’t be a parent. That shit hurts

He didn’t go to her when she died. She died in Scott’s arms. Chris stood there and watched. Maybe he was in shock, but that doesn’t sound like very good CoMpArTmEnTaLiZiNg. That would have been a good time to say you love your kid, but no. (If you believe the unreliable narrator theory, I certainly do, maybe he did go to her, but this isn’t what we saw in the episode.)

Peter Hale

Wanted to connect with his child when he found out he had one

Was willing to do a big favor for Lydia just to get the name of his child (which was a big deal to him)

Spent thousands of dollars (and we all know how stingy Peter is) to get information on her

Was willing to get burned alive again to see his daughter (6.05)

Used himself as a distraction for the Ghost Riders to save Malia. Twice (the first time was when they were in the tunnels, and then fought them again in the library)

Similarly Peter, who just got done saying he wasn’t sure how Malia could be his daughter since she lacks self-preservation instincts, is willing to potentially sacrifice himself and tells her to run

Her calling him “Dad” snapped him out of the trance

The Anuk-ite used her voice against him, meaning his greatest fear was something happening to her

Bad

Wanted Malia to kill Kate (why? He could do it. Actually, Chris should have done it but he doesn’t have the balls)

Additional notes: The show implies Peter helped out Malia during the brown out in season 5 (through a flashback in season 6), but I never understood what the significance was, so I’m ignoring that until someone can explain it to me.

She doesn’t ground him for sneaking out past curfew, does not punish him for assaulting Isaac (that’s not boys will be boys, that’s straight up assault), or stealing money from the Hales (she only demanded he give it back, no punishment ensued), took away his car keys/Stiles but then seemed to drop the punishment when she thought he was acting out because of his father)

^ Also, no Stiles is not a punishment you can follow through on

Instead of trying to have a conversation about the lone condom she found in his room with him, she goes to the MOM of the girl she ASSUMES he’s fucking. She could have been way off

She told the drunk to get out of the house, not the dad to get out of his life. Wrong. If your spouse hurts your kid, get rid of the whole man. Toodaloo motherfucker. Your stuff is in the trash

Instead of telling her son to get out of town for his safety, she tells him to stay. There is an entire army out to kill your child. He’s always going to be followed and hunted, yes, but it just seems irresponsible

I’m positive this is because the writers didn’t think it through that far or they simply forgot, but fact of the matter is it still happened. Melissa let Scott live with the man who pushed him down the stairs. Why? How are you certain it won’t happen again? How are you certain something worse couldn’t happen? I’m not giving up my kid, not for anything, not for any amount of time. If Melissa has primary physical custody, why would she let this happen?

Natalie Martin

“Lydia! What did you do to yourself?” sounds judgmental. Perhaps, upon seeing her daughter has cut her hand by punching the mirror, asking what happened would be more appropriate

Lets a strange boy into her house to be alone with Lydia while she’s drugged up and in negligee. Lydia can wear whatever the hell she wants, especially in her own house, but to let some rando into her room is not a good idea. And she left them alone

Says in season 4 she will do whatever she can to help and then turns around and absolutely does nothing (though this may be less of a parenting thing and more of a terrible person thing)

Sends her to Eichen House for the “best medical care.” Excuse me, ma’am, that is a mental institution, not a medical facility. Also, according to the flashback in Season 5, she saw what happened to Lorraine. I’m not sure if she’s cruel or stupid, but given everything else we know about Natalie, I’m going with both

She doesn’t care when Stiles points out Lydia has a hole in her head. She tries to justify it medically. You remember what happened to your former mother-in-law. Do you believe Lorraine did it to herself?

When Noah tells her what’s going on in Eichen, she waits all day to get Lydia out of there

When Tracy injures Lydia and Lydia tells Natalie to run, she does. She doesn’t risk her own safety to be with her child. She saves herself

We see a very confident Palm. He's watching everybody and everything, while making sure to be a backbone for Nueng. Palm tells Nueng that he can lean on him, but Nueng is pissed. We see it in that jerk of putting his seat down. Honestly, don't blame him. That's why you don't see Palm happy when Nueng does lean on him. Palm knows he wouldn't be if he were awake and aware.

Nobody thought about the sea sickness. Lawd really. At least he knows how to rub a back and hand over water. Palm's daddy apparently wasn't all prepared.

Palm's mom, goodness. What's my opinion on the mom? I don't know. I don't have enough information to judge. As a parent, there is nothing on this earth short of death that would separate me from my kids. They are the loves of my life. That said, I don't know the situation. Some people aren't made to be parents or want to be parents. Maybe she was pressured by both her parents and Palm's dad to have a kid that she hadn't planned on. She gave birth, realized she was a shitty parent and walked rather than do him harm. I'd rather someone walk then give out abuse. Like Palm's dad does. She stayed in contact with Palm's dad, so it wasn't just like she went, fuck you all. There is more to this. I refuse to judge when I don't know the situation.

We're seeing a more confident Palm. Not a Dom, but more confident for sure. Trying to reassure Nueng. "Will you tell your mom about our relationship?" And quick as a whip, Palm replies, "What is our relationship?" 🤣🤣🤣 "Will you tell your mom that you are working for my family?" Not the response Palm wanted. "I don’t think that is necessary. Palm adored Noey feeding him. Then getting commanded to tell Tam. Which Palm immediately did. So cute. I relate to eating spicy food so much. I love it, but it kills me. Crawfish all day, but man do my lips and hand pay for it.

Lady, you got no right being nosy. Mind ya business. "To repay the gratitude, how could he put the life of his only son in danger?" She is not wrong, though. I think at this point, every adult in the building is not fond of Pond's dad.

This moment is so fucking cute. OMG. You killing me softly with those adorable smiles. Also, I'm trying to use less slang when writing and yo it's so fucking tough. Like in comfort writing, I slang like I'm talking to family. I found that some of you don't understand me, though. My bad.

Lots of foreshadowing again. Then some lying by Palm and then Palm being a dumbass and once again telling Nueng it's for the job.

So i don't know if this is true or if I got it wrong but according to some leaks, in Silvio's route there's gonna be a bit lot of angst between Rio and silvio because the latter will try to "steal" Emma from Rio knowing fully well that he's in love with her (but will try anyway because ya know, trauma and rivalry). Obviously in the end Silvio will win her over but I wanted to know, what do you think about Silvio's actions in this particular (possible? Is it confirmed?) scene? He did all this with a malicious intent (at first) and some people on Tumblr are starting to hate him for doing this and treating poor little Rio badly.

Of course what he did it's wrong, but at the same time i can't forget about his childhood and understand why he's still behaving like this. And I'm not sure if he really "stole" Emma from Rio, since she never belonged to him in the first place (still, he knew that Rio loved her, and that's pretty bad bro u don't do that wtf) buttttt maybe I'm too biased, he is my favorite . Anyway, just wanted to know your opinion on this, thanks in advance and sorry for my English, it's not my native language

Frankly I don't see how any of this is shocking or news to anyone - that's been his proclaimed goal all along. He's even explicitly told Emma to her face that he's going to take her from Rio at other points in the game.

I personally don't have a problem with it. I mean, is it shitty to do? Definitely, but is it any shittier than any of the other guys 'taking' Emma? Or any other questionable decision any of them has made in their routes? Why does intent matter in the grand scheme of the story if the outcome is the same (him falling for her too)? We don’t know exactly how this will all play out either...maybe he can’t go through with it. Maybe he calls it all off. Maybe she falls for him despite knowing what he’s up to. And not that it’s any excuse whatsoever, but we don’t know the extent of whatever shit went down between those two and why Silvio considers Rio to be The Worst. at least on the surface

Don't get me wrong I like Rio...but one thing I can't stand about childhood-love/prior-love type routes is the sense of ownership that so often seems to accompany them. Emma doesn't belong to Rio - I’m aiming this at Silvio too for thinking it. And everyone repeat after me: she doesn't owe him anything. Nothing. Not a single, goddamned thing. There's no Bank of Emma that Rio gets to draw from because he's been making 'deposits' for three years. And while I understand why he always hesitated to try and progress their relationship, and why Emma did too, in the end...he chose to do nothing.

He never tried to find out more about his past so that he could clear a path for them to be together, he never did anything to alleviate her concerns. He was content to stick his head in the sand and pretend as if everything would somehow magically work out one day. But that’s not how an adult handles shit. In his own route he definitely finally steps up, but even that is reluctantly - I lost track of how many times he tried to stick his fingers in his ears and essentially say ‘nya nya I can’t hear you!’ any time someone wanted to try and discuss The Truth.

In every other suitor’s route, Rio comes to grips with letting Emma go because there’s things to admire about the person she comes to care for. I don’t believe that Silvio is so awful that he can’t find it in himself to admit that she’ll be fine with him...and the bitch of truly loving someone is being able to let them go.

Really though, if people want to get themselves all lathered up over the briefest of snippets of a preview, without reading the route...more power to them. But I always say don’t knock it until you try it.

If people continue to support Alex despite all the shit that has happened up to this point, those people are willfully ignorant. I don't see how ANY thing that he said over the vc and snapchat messages could be taken out of context in the way that he or others may think. What he did isn't even alleged.

I don't even dislike him for this situation alone. Basically, for all the bs that he's pulled prior and during the YanSim development. Anyway... Shitty people are let off the hook way often, and the folks who get wrongly canceled for genuinely petty reasons have that stuck to them for the rest of their life on the internet. It's really fucking ironic and sad.

I think people are kind of uncancelable depending on the audience they have in the first place. If you’re a degenerate from the start, you’re going to cultivate a fanbase who either doesn’t know any better or *does* know better and just doesn’t care. (See Alex’s following of 14-year-olds and nasty grown men. One population notoriously thinks they know better about just about everything when they do not, and the other knows right from wrong and chooses to be wrong.)

It’s confusing to witness when you try to be a decent person and you don’t have a completely decimated sense of morality. Keep in mind, it’s easy to act like a shitty person, and it generally takes effort to make good choices, instead. Think of the most average human being that you can. Think of how much that person cares about other people. Now remember that half of all people give less of a shit about others than that.

There’s lots of people who do more good than bad out there, but I think that some people believe that there are far fewer shitty people out there than there really are.

And I’m gonna come out and say it: Most people don’t care about what Alex actually did and who it affected. His cancellation is fodder. You see this when people get excited over someone being canceled because they had a petty dislike for them. e.g. “I’m so glad it turned out he’s a groomer and he’s canceled now. His music was so annoying!”

At this point, I think that some of the people involved in exposing him are aware of how much that attitude pays. Most people either don’t care or don’t think about the fact that releasing those videos/audios publicly soiled potential evidence for the authorities and outed a survivor publicly who did not want to be outed. They don’t care that Ally allowed the survivor to continue speaking with Alex to “collect evidence” for a YouTube video. Because at the end of the day, they got their content fix.

They couldn’t wait to cover it after a case had been processed because they just had to take advantage of being the only ones who knew about it. I can believe that the adults in that situation thought they were doing the right thing, but you can’t tell me that they didn’t happily benefit from it, either.

TL;DR He was “let off the hook” because this was all grossly mishandled and most of his fanbase didn’t care anyway.

This post is inspired by a post @dakotafinely made taking about Raph and Mikey's dynamics. But for me, I'll be talking about Splinter, and why I personally have a very big problem with the adults in Rise in general. ESPECIALLY from a point of the boys and April are, even during the series, MINORS and therefore they are gonna feel the wave of consequences to the adults around them and their actions long after they become adults.

Now I'm gonna start this post off by saying I understand him being shitty at first is the whole point of his arc, and that since we didn't get enough time because season 2 was cut in half and "paused" (As some staff have posted on Twitter telling us what Nick said the series status is) we didn't get to fully see him being called out.

However! The problem of Rise is that they seem to almost kinda EMPHASIZE this idea that parental figures are meant to be forgiven no matter what. And that out of ALL OF THE EPISODES THEY COULD'VE PICKED they didn't choose or have an episode to dive into that, and while I won't call any of Season 2 "Filler episodes" (I loved all the episodes we ended up with) I do want to call to question that they didn't choose to tackle anything that could make Splinter grow. If anything, I argue that after major episodes of a step of Splinter's growth... They almost seem to take two steps back.

Now the rest of this will be under the cut as to save on room and not make this post go on for a mile. Oh, and also for the sake of series spoilers since some folks are just getting into it after the movie came out.

Now the first major sign is gonna start off with the short Turtle Tots Which in it, Splinter wants to train the boys, while emphasizing how dangerous the weapons are. But then Splinter IMMEDIATELY runs off to watch his show, leaving the weapons within the reach of the boys, which results in them playing with the actual weapons and beating each other and themselves, up with them. To add insult to injury, Splinter, when he re-appears, DOESN'T PUNISH THE BOYS FOR PLAYING WITH THE WEAPONS. Yes, he gets angry, but when he begins to think about being better, it doesn't stick with him as he runs back to watch his show. (And that's not even mentioning that means he's not around for their behavior for "Hero and Villain" where they single out Leo to physically beat up? Which out of context and out of the whole Comedy aspect is... Just yikes???)

Now onto season 1. Which the first notable example is Splinter during Down with the Sickness. Which while he's sick, Mikey and Leo comment some... Interesting things at stage three (Which I remind you is his "Lovey-Dovey dad stage)

Mikey: Favorite son? Run!

Leo: No, no, you don’t I’m your least favorite!

This has some... Implications on how Splinter treats the boys. That he has to be SICK to show them affection. That this is out of the norm for him. Not much to "analyze" here but these two sentences rub me the wrong way.

Now onto the Fast and the Furriest. Which dives a LOT more into my problems with Splinter. First off. This exchange.

Meat Sweats: Turtles? Red, Blue, Orange, Purple?

Splinter: You know their names!

Meat Sweats: Yes. And they’re right outside and looking delicious.

Splinter: What? We’ve got to bone out! They cannot find out I took the tank!

Meat Sweats: What are you doing, you dotty old sod?

Splinter: You steer, I will pedal.

First off. THAT IS NOT THEIR NAMES AND HE LATER CONFIRMS THAT HE KNOWS THEIR ACTUAL NAMES. Second, he KNOWS he shouldn't have taken it, but chose too anyways for the sake of his enjoyment. And Donnie's earlier comment;

Donnie: Oh I should have known he took it! You just can't trust adults these days. You leave the keys to your brainchild lying around and the next thing you know-

Implies that this sort of situation, even in a more minor sense, has happened before. Especially considering the later lines of this

Splinter: Purple is a monster. He’ll fry my TV so I get is educated shows.

Like he's done it before. What's worse is that just before that line, we get a perspective into how he takes to criticism of his parenting.

Meat Sweats: You took the tank from your son? Well, I've done some awful things in my life. But you, you’re an animal.

Splinter: I am not taking the fault for this.

And then after there's also a line of how he deals out punishment more than likely.

Donnie: Oh Papa! If you surrender now, there shan't be any consequences.

Splinter: That is a lie, I taught him that one.

The fact that Donnie knows this trick means that is a pattern he used before, at least on Donnie. And the following confirmation of belittling into yelling like he is a child gives me the idea that these boys had to essentially parent their own father.

Donnie: [enraged] You...you, reckless irresponsible-! You are watching the science of chairs channel for a month young man! Followed by the Long Division Channel and the Memorizing Pi channel 1 Spoiler alert, the 99th digit is 7!

Quick side note on Mrs. Cuddles is just how quickly Splinter, like the other teens, dismisses Raph's fears and taunts him for it.

I personally think their behavior of thinking this prank is a good idea comes from Splinter constantly laughing it off despite his son clearly being distress. Especially because that Raph tries to push off his fears as nothing instead of admitting his fears and telling them to stop because it's actually causing him panic. But I admit there's no truely solid evidence for this one.

Even setting off later events by lying to Raph to get into where he locked up Cuddles. While he fixed the problem with Raph, the fact that he just kept laughing at Raph instead of being worried about him seriously bugs me.

In the episode Smart Lair the only question Splinter asks is simply

Splinter: Okay. But what can he do for me?

SHELLDON: With my help, snacks are only a split second away.

Splinter: Whoo hoo! I never have to use my legs again! Good Job Purple!

He only cares about what benefits HIM in SHELLDON. More examples being;

Splinter: My hot soup is now only luke hot. AKA cold!

SHELLDON: Humblest apologies. Perhaps this new upgrade I installed may help.

Splinter: Flying microwave? What is next? Hop Soup!

...

Splinter: You know, I could really go for an ivory field woodpecker egg omelet.

SHELLDON: Sorry bro. Like those went extinct in '94.

Splinter: I hear problems, but not solutions. And what is wrong with your voice?

SHELLDON: A little tweakage to the wave and extinct eggs coming right up!

First off, the fact he considers the flying microwave servant as is friend is... Kinda giving me bad vibes of how he thinks friendship works. Second, we move onto Late Fee

Mikey: The ferry's too far. And we're running out of time. We'll never get Splinter's hugs.

Mikey: I feel like I could feel Dad's hugs. And spoiler alert, they are plush.

These boys are literally STARVING for physical affection from Splinter, and that includes Donnie who seems to be generally touch avoidant. And Mikey's lines implies that he doesn't even REMEMBER what Splinter's hugs feel like (I'm assuming this is talking about while he's not sick.) And once he finally accepts it...

Splinter: Okay. You have earned it.

Mikey: [choked up] I will never forget this feeling.

Splinter: I love all my sons. All five of you.

...He doesn't even realize how many sons he has???

I had the most overstimulating / frustrating dentist’s appointment this morning.. it was like torture because I had to put a tight ass mouthguard in that was really hard to take out, awkwardly return my 2 week old broken retainer and be told I have a weird bite (duh. oh my god it isn’t like they didn’t know this!) and they made me watch a 90s homophobic joke on TV too 😭 (more below if you want the full story! I had a lot to say)

Ok so for context, I am stoned writing this & I have fucked up teeth due to Everything (eating disorder behaviors + childhood trauma and autism and having oral fixations and being sick due to a kinda anti vax mom etc etc are very bad for you lmaoooo)

I have broken 2 retainers 1 mouth guard (and am now being told to not wear the retainer at night and basically wear it during the day ig)

Today I pick up my new mouthguard and hand them broken retainer #2 which is humiliating since I broke it like within 2 weeks of receiving it

The shitty large corporation dentist’s office is always playing videos and music and shit all at the same time, way too overstimulating, and I ended up being witness to this old Fresh Prince episode with a homophobic joke 😭 It was when Will Smith’s character tries to get the butler a girlfriend for his birthday and he literally delivered the joke about assuming too much and took his hands away dramatically which has aged VERY poorly! (was bad to begin with lmao)

And then I had to try this very tight fitting mouthguard, with my dirty outside hands because they make you do it.. but don’t have me wash my hands which is disgusting but I just do it because they expect me to 😭😭😭😭😭😭 And then as she was talking about fixing my broken retainer, I was desperately trying to get the stupid mouthguard out so I could answer her and it was SO hard to take off my teeth 🤪 Probs because of my broken appliances that they told me to keep using bc it’s that or my teeth 🙃

Anyway I managed to get it off and was like hey this was really snug and hard to remove, was I doing it wrong?? and got a kind of non answer and a brief visual demonstration. Lmao… and I was trying to practice putting it on / taking it out and acclimate my teeth to an old ish scan, and at one point just couldn’t get it to go back on my teeth. So I am not very excited to try it tonight but if I can get it to stay, I think this one might work. But my teeth are going to be SO sensitive for the next month FML

My old dentist (who unforch worked for the old guy who owned the practice and for some reason he sold out to a corporation instead of idk… letting HER take the company???) made her own practice and it’s finally open to the public 😎 I am one of her first patients I think lmao

I don’t see how shipping two fictional adults is disgusting? If you’re talking about the age gap then… hate to break it to you fam but most celebrities have a massive age gap in their relationships. There’s also such thing as sugar babies and sugar daddies/mommies. If two consenting adults decide to date one another I don’t really see what’s wrong there..? My thing is, if it’s not hurting anybody or anything then let people do what they want 🤷. Who am I to judge someone else’s relationship?

Secondly, you’re aware that these are fictional characters right? It’s a game, the characters are fake. You’re getting riled up over that? I can think of at least 10 different things we should be more worried about than people shipping two fictional adults together.

Also the Max part…? Yeah, sorry fam you’ve lost me here. Am I supposed to suddenly be opposed to enjoying the ship because Max is there? People ship people who aren’t together in nearly all sorts of media, movies, tv shows and video games. So are we saying it’s wrong to have fanon ships if the characters are in a relationship..? Wait till you find out people ship real people together 👀👀

Oh and just thought I’d mention but the actors who play these characters are ok with the ship, I recommend you check their social media accounts! They share the fanart, like comments about it and more. Just don’t give them shit for being ok with the fandom shipping their characters together, that would be quite a shitty thing to do.

And one last thing, I promise. If you hate the ship so much, block the tag. Don’t interact with the content. Don’t shit on people’s writing nor their fanart. Go be a keyboard warrior somewhere else, go and be an activist for something that actually matters man. I’m too tired to argue about this it’s 2:30am leave me alone dude. Lmfao all I did was reblog some fanart and that’s all it takes huh? Mind blowing. Point is, no one gives you shit for shipping people so why do you have to go around and give people shit for shipping other people? kdjlsfghdfjklsg OKAY!!!!! ANYANKA!!!! TRAIN'S VERSION!!!!!

First off I fancast her with Emma Myers now or Maya Hawke in the recent past. I feel both of them could handle the role and both are closer looking to the 17-18yo age we’d need for S3!Anya which is one of my main reasons for even recasting Anyanka bc lbr... Emma Caulfield is iconic in the role no notes really on her end. But yeah, both could pull off that “alien who just moved to earth tries to hang with the teenz” vibes that are so integral to the Anya experience.

After that I just lean WAY more into her established backstory and season 3 personality, you know, how she was before they flanderized her to hell and back. Basically more of a cranky adult trapped in a shitty mortal teen body and having to deal with all this shit they can’t remember from their own youth and probably didn’t have to even deal with the first time around. Her moods are all over the place in S3-4 since she’s so new to being mortal and like...18 years old. It’s like being boss baby and needing a nap lol.

She also has beef with Willow and Giles from day one and actually develops a real friendship with Cordelia and Faith-- basically if they’re in the Scooby sphere but not well liked by the Scoobies proper they’re gonna end up friends with Anyanka. Which means by the end of the series she’s homies with Cordelia, Faith, Spike, Oz, Angel, Wesley, Andrew, etc. The only one I don’t think she’d have time for is Amy and that’s entirely because she doesn’t have time for her or Willow and their issues with magic, superiority complexes and how little they listen to her even tho she’s you know, their obvious magical superior on the knowledge front.

Circling back to Willow and Giles it’s because she’s the anti-Willow and anti-Giles in some ways and until a better set up is thought up she’s basically the spirit and mind of the shadow self hands-heart-spirit-mind metaphor that the scoobies take on. She and Spike are basically already the Rowdy Ruff Boys to the Scoobies’ Powerpuff Girls as is. She’s already kind of established as a shadow Willow in the show but I wanna you know...... NOT FORGET SHE CAN DO MAGIC FOR LIKE 4 SEASONS.

Without her demonic powers Anyanka is not as strong of a witch as Willow when it comes to pure strength. But she was an extremely gifted one even before she got 1,000+ years to hone her craft and learn more. She can buy and sell Willow and Giles any day of the week, they basically only win against her because Buffy’s the slayer, luck, MC powers etc etc yada yada. She’s also not afraid to remind them of this fact which makes Willow especially very insecure and dislike her a LOT. Along with that Anyanka still lacks a filter nor cares to get one. She probably also backed Faith’s whole bad slayer shit for a while like “yeah you go girl get your revenge!!!! (and also idk can you maybe help me get my powers back or like??? talk to your boss about it????? idk idk)”. bc ofc she’s not giving up on that so easily and also you know, Faith is a pretty wronged lady and old habits die hard. Also it parallels the Buffy-Willow friendship and makes it all sexy and evil and shadow self-y.

ofc once she realizes what he wants to do is Ascend she’s like LOL NVM I’M OUT!!!! LOL BYEEEEEE!!!!!

I’d still have her going to prom with Xander, negging him when she asks him and terrorizing him unintentionally the whole night. It’s comic gold. But I want her entry into being a main cast member to not be wholly dependent on her riding his dick on the reg like in canon so she’s the first person to bang on Buffy’s door and be like “something’s happening to the Sunnydale demon population!!!!” because ofc she still cares about them, in her brain she’s not human, she’s a demon. This whole mortal form thing is temporary really. Her and Xander is a background courting ritual of freaks and losers incomprehensible to all around them. It’s not the slap slap kiss vibes of Xander/Cordelia but it still has the same “whAT--?!?!?” moment and top tier comedic duo timing.

Anya only really starts to see herself as human when she breaks her arm in 5x2 and even then it’s very uneasy. It’s like 8 kinds of crisis she’s combatting here guys.

Also starting in S4 she and Spike are besties. Again it’s a shadow self, my demons are their own angels, us but sexier energy. They’re serving Scoobies from the Negaverse. They’re giving “this could be you Buffy but you playing”. They’re also like, the greek chorus in the back being like “uhhhhhh what’s with the gross human-centric ethics you creeps?”. They’re another next level comedy duo. Could’ve removed his chip the whole time but he never asked so she never offered. She mentions this casually in Season 7 and he mcloses it over that for several episodes, it’s a running gag.

Anya and Willow have Tension from Season 4 on about being the Magical Girl of the group. The Scoobies all naturally pick Willow pretty consistently over Anya but then Willow Fucks Up (something blue etc) and they turn to Anya to fix it. It’s a popularity contest and they all know it and it makes Anya bitter and Willow even more insecure. This feeds into her Dark Willow Arc later. Also, she and Anya have a Wizard Fight at the end of Season 6 and it’s Sick Nasty.

Xander still leaves her at the altar because I think that’s actually very important to both of their characters and she does still become a demon again. The major difference is that she doesn’t then stop being one in Season 7. She ends out the series still a demon and the confrontation in the frat house actually is basically a psychological boss battle for Buffy that gets into shit relevant to the season and her own struggles.

Anyanka never really asked for this, she was basically tricked/manipulated both times into becoming a demon but she also gains incredible powers from being like this that realistically she wouldn’t want to give up as they’re a part of her now. Her identity is malleable, she’s been treated like she doesn’t get to have one, she has to fight to make one of her own. she’s in a position when she’s controlled by a cruel man and if she goes outside the lines or does things she feels are right the consequences are dire. She is Buffy, she’s the demon side of Buffy. The counterpoint to Dawn’s innocent youthful human girl, she’s the grown adult demon woman. She’s representing the struggles Buffy is dealing with now in herself and the plot. Buffy ends up deciding to not punish her for the murders both yes because of friendship but also because Anyanka is an irreplaceable asset, even more so now that she’s a demon again, and Buffy cannot afford to lose any of those right now. A logic that Anyanka actually approves of.

I enjoy Anya’s fish out of water and no filter vibes in the original but I hate how they consistently forget she’s smart until it’s useful again. Like lbr, S4-7 Anya is basically just there to say something cringe or funny or say “when i was a demon--” before being shunted to the back again so the Most Important People could talk. Season 3 Anya was cunning, acerbic, clever, knew the basics of how things work in the mortal world and I’m sorry-- I know it’s very important to many people but I hate her monologue in The Body. I just HATE it.

She’s been killing people for over a thousand years. She knows what death is and how it works. She knows it means this person will never eat eggs a-fucking-gain sHE KNOWS THIS!!!!! Now if this was about the emotionalness of that loss-- of being the one to actually do the losing I wouldn’t hate it!!! That actually tracks. Anyanka is basically immortal and likely as never had a single person she truly cared about die in that time. It would make sense if she understands that Joyce is dead but doesn’t know how to react to that or process it. Loss is a thing she inflicts, it’s not done to her. She wouldn’t know what to do with herself.

Also she doesn’t give a stupid fucking speech about running away that makes NO sense and just TELLS YOU SHE’S GONNA DIE with a fucking FOGHORN and then DIES POINTLESSLY IN THE FINALE. ABSOLUTELY NOT.

This is kind of based on what an anon said and this ask may take a minute to get to the Player’s Aid portion.

It is apparent that the more comfortable and cozier our life styles get, the easier it is to be traumatized.

Let me explain: Records of the first man with signs of PTSD date back to a time before guns existed I believe, so a long time ago. He was a soldier who basically had a breakdown on the field as he watched his brothers in arms- along with the enemies- die around him.

This was the first recorded incident (I think, my info may be a little off), and as our lifestyles grew easier and more and more dangerous weapons were made, the more attention began to turn to this phenomenon as more and more people were starting to act weird after witnessing some stuff.

It definitely doesn’t help that people are very disconnected in this day in age. You go fight on the behalf of your country, your people, watch millions die, and then go back to find the people you fought for walking up and down the street without even a glance in your direction. There is simply too much distance between strangers now.

Your partner and or kids may comfort you, but they cannot give you what you’re looking for as there was no immediate threat to them in their eyes, nothing was coming to kill or attack them, they were perfectly safe, sitting around and worrying over you.

This comfort mixed with the distance can tear soldiers in particular apart and is why so many veterans have PTSD. The distance in general is also an issue without going to war or anything as PTSD comes from many different places.

But here’s an example where something normally bad was actually good for a community: sometime- not too terribly long ago I believe- there was a bad volcanic eruption in France. For a whole TWO YEARS there was not a SINGLE genocide (it was either in the area or the whole country, I don’t remember), that is a long time for such a big place! It’s because everyone there shared the trauma, everyone understood each others pain on a personal level. Neighbors linked hands with other neighbors they’ve never spoken with before, grown adults cried on strangers shoulders. This is in complete contrast to the soldier thing, where nothing changed when they got home, there was no acknowledgement, and even if there was it wouldn’t have satisfied them.

Now let’s take the Player’s situation- they come from the our world where everything is comfortable and sweet, yet where everyone is distant and unconcerned. Now they’re in a world where everyone is close and caring of strangers, yet they are fighting for there lives, dying of sickness, and dealing with the shitty medieval living conditions.

Now the player doesn’t really know the boys, but they do care about them, know of there pasts, and do feel strong emotions of sympathy and understanding for them.

They then have to watch as, man and child a like, throw themselves into heated, agonizingly long, hand to hand combat.

I wonder how that’ll affect player, if the different time periods are taken into darker consideration, idk, I just need to say something to finish the ask.

Btw not all of my information may be correct, I watched a video on this stuff a long time ago and the memories of it are kinda fuzzy, so forgive me if I got anything wrong or oversimplified it too much.

Oh, wow, okay ow-

But it does make total sense. Being in an era where it's less likely to have to grow accustomed to harder environments (well, more being in a certain area) it would make sense people would become softer to the blow that is trauma.

All I know is, Player is gonna face some difficulties in this story, which includes having to deal with stuff like this- after all I want the reactions to be realistic as possible while still bordering around interesting to read territory.
