how to deal with purging skin?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What is purging skin?
This is a phenomenon that occurs when you integrate a new treatment concentrated in exfoliating active ingredients (AHA, BHA, vitamin C or retinol…) into your routine. These active ingredients will eliminate all dead skin on the surface and bring out the imperfections.
how to deal with purging skin?
First of all, remember that purging is a sign that the products are working, so don't stop or give up! Also there is no need to consult a dermatologist.
be patient: the skin purge only lasts a few days or even a few weeks depending on your skin type and the severity of the purge. It is important to be patient and give your skin the time it needs to adapt.
consult a dermatologist: there is no such thing as consulting a dermatologist; he or she will be able to assess the situation and recommend treatments and adjustments to your routine.
Avoid Breaking Out Your Acne: It is essential to avoid touching your face directly. Touching your face increases your chances of growing bacteria, and interfering with the purging process can make the breakout worse or longer.
Add ingredients that support the skin barrier: You can add soothing products to your skin to treat purging Peptides: rebuild the skin barrier and increase the suppleness of the skin. Their anti-inflammatory characteristics contribute to even skin tone, relief of inflammation and restoration of the skin.
Ceramides: help form the skin barrier, which protects the skin and also hydrates the skin.
Hyaluronic acid: stores water and keeps skin hydrated and plump. This reduces the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles.
Jojoba Oil: is a light oil rich in vitamins E, D and A, as well as vitamin B complex, copper and zinc. These nutrients protect the skin from free radicals and keep it healthy.
Aloe vera: calms, hydrates and relieves acne-prone skin.
Oat Oil: Has the ability to function as a barrier between the skin and the environment. It also contains antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and calming effects that can help increase skin hydration.
Don't forget about hydration: Adequate hydration is essential to maintain the skin's balance and reduce the risk of irritation. Use a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated.
Protect your skin from the sun: During skin purging your skin may be susceptible to sun damage. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an appropriate SPF to protect your skin.

From BackcountryHunters: Good news for Good Samaritans: Yesterday, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee voted to advance the Good Samaritan Remediation of Abandoned Hardrock Mines Act. This federal legislation would allow non-profits and other true “Good Samaritans” who want to voluntarily clean up abandoned mines to do so without liability for the site. With an estimated 40% of watersheds in the West contaminated by mine tailings and runoff, abandoned hardrock mines are the number one source of pollution on our public lands and waters. The foundation for productive fish and wildlife habitat is a healthy watershed, something this legislation will help to restore. BHA thanks Chairman Carper (D-DE) and Ranking Member Capito (R-WV) for their support and for considering this legislation today. We also want to thank Sens. Heinrich (D-NM) and Risch (R-ID) for leading this legislation.

☆ what to carry in your makeup bag - skincare edition ☆
A good skincare routine should be simple, consistent, and tailored to their specific skin type and concerns. It's essential to prioritize gentle and hydrating products while avoiding harsh ingredients. Here's a basic daily skincare routine to follow:
Morning:
Cleansing - use a mild, gentle cleanser suited for your skin type. Look for one that removes dirt, oil, and impurities without stripping the skin of its natural oils. Cerave's cleansers are a great option designed for different types of skins.
Toning - apply an alcohol-free toner to help balance the skin's pH levels and prepare it for the next steps of your routine. Toners can also provide light hydration and soothe the skin. Lush's toners are my favorite.
Vitamin C Serum - apply a Vitamin C serum to help brighten the skin, fade dark spots, and protect it from environmental damage. Allow the serum to absorb fully before moving to the next step.
Eye Cream - gently dab on an eye cream to address any under-eye puffiness or dark circles. Look for an eye cream with ingredients like hyaluronic acid or peptides. Mine is from L'oreal.
Moisturizing - choose a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer suitable for your skin type. Moisturizing is crucial for keeping the skin hydrated and maintaining a healthy skin barrier.
Sunscreen - apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 every morning, even on cloudy days. This protects the skin from harmful UV rays and helps prevent premature aging and sun damage. Isdin's sunscreen is all over Tiktok because of how great it is.
Everning:
Makeup Removal - before starting your evening routine, make sure to remove all makeup thoroughly using a gentle makeup remover or cleansing oil. I love using micellar water from Garnier, but there are so many options out there.
Double Cleansing - follow up with a double cleanse. First, use an oil-based cleanser to remove any remaining sunscreen and makeup. Then, use your regular cleanser to cleanse the skin thoroughly.
Toning - repeat the toning step from your morning routine to prep your skin for the next products.
Serum - if you have specific skin concerns like acne or hyperpigmentation, apply a targeted treatment product, such as benzoyl peroxide or retinol. Use these treatments as directed and be cautious not to overuse them. I love to use The Ordinary products, especially the retinol and niacinamide ones.
Eye Cream - apply your eye cream once again to provide extra moisture and nourishment to the delicate skin around the eyes.
Moisturizer - apply a slightly richer or more nourishing moisturizer in the evening to help your skin recover and replenish overnight.
Weekly Treatments
Exfoliation - exfoliate your skin using a mild exfoliant with alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs). Exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cells and promote a smoother complexion
Masking - use a face mask that addresses your skin's specific needs, such as hydrating, purifying, or calming masks.

Hello! Could I get a Tokyo Revengers & BHA Matchup please?
I’m 23, she/they, 5’4, & ISTP
Pros? I’d say I’m playful, weird sense of humour, talkative, loyal as a dog, great listener, I smile a lot (while ironically having a resting bitch face), sarcastic, and most would probably describe me as either adorable yet cursed or adorably cursed. I’m definitely not a stranger to being called a cryptid lol
Neutral? I’m very sensitive, socially awkward, tend to ramble a lot, I can be a bit of a pack rat (I tend to keep a lot of unnecessary things either out of sentimental value or just cause it think it’s neat even if other people think it’s just junk 🤷🏾‍♀️), and am a bit of a perfectionist (but only towards myself).
Cons? I’m shy, anxious, a little clumsy, stubborn, non-confrontational (unless truly needed which I go kinda overkill sometimes), and can be petty/passive-aggressive
Likes/Hobbies: Playing bass, secondhand shopping, DIY projects, music, art, photography, and horror movies
Dislikes: Being underestimated, my passions/interests being mocked, being interrupted, and...country music? 🤷🏾‍♀️
Fun facts about me:
* Sometimes I write music (mainly just basslines though)
* I once accidentally won an art show (Yes I do mean accidentally. Long story)
* Erm…I used to work at a daycare?
* I once took a trip to Spain and joined a weed club 😎🤙🍃
And I know it’s not necessary, but I also included a pic of myself just in case it’s helpful!
Tumblr media
Hope that’s enough info. Thanks in advance!
A/n: Hello, I hope you are having a great day. May I ask how you accidently win an art show? Also you are adorable. Anyway here’s your match up, I hope you enjoy. And remember to hydrate or diedrate.
Tokyo Revengers:  Takashi Mitsuya
Mitsuya is the kind of guy who seems super serious with people who look up to him, but when he’s around close friends and doesn’t have to be perfect he kinda becomes you weird
He would be down to listen to you talk about whatever you’re working on, whether it’s a bassline or a diy you wanted to try
Loves to go with you secondhand shopping because he can get ideas and even material for new designs
Asks for your help with taking pictures of his creations when he finally finds someone to model them
I feel he is also a perfectionist so he understands want everything to be just right, he also knows how to help you take a step back and then look at the project from a fresh pair of eyes later on
If you’re having an off day and he picks up on it don’t worry about being petty or passive aggressive, he’s used to it. Afterall he has been taking care of his sisters and children are the epitome of petty
If you’re feeling anxious he is always there to talk about it, or just comfort you however you need him to
My Hero Academia:  Denki Kaminari
Denki loves your sense of humor though he doesn't always understand the sarcasm
He loves to listen to you ramble on about whatever topic has you going this time
Wants to learn how to do diy’s because damn that’s cool
If you want to watch a horror movie he is down for it just be warned he will likely scream
Will set up times for the two of you to just chill and listen to music and if you want to play him some music you wrote, you better have it recorded because he’s playing it for everyone
I can imagine you guys working together to bug Bakugo as well, like sending cursed memes, not different ones though, the same one over and over at random times to the point he makes Denki short circuit

No!

Heyyyyy, do you have a skin care routine for your body? Like body oil or certain type of lotion or soap? I’ve been trying to be better about that and take care of my skin and tattoos but I get a lot of ingrown hairs on my legs and the back of my arms and I just feel like my skin is so blah. Do you have any product recs or advice? 👍
hello!! first and foremost: i am not a dermatologist!! just some guy!!
i do have a bodycare routine (although for full disclosure i don't think we have the exact same skin type!!) but rather than bog u down w specific products, i think there's rly just a good couple of rules to go by—my dermatologist told me all of these and i let that info guide my skincare purchasing decisions!
most oils are comedogenic, meaning they clog your pores. there are a few that are non-comedogenic, or rank low on their comedogenic scale, but many (like coconut oil for example) rank high and are very likely to clog your pores and cause irritation. i personally don't use body oils for this reason (and also because they tend to be heavily fragranced which can irritate your skin.) there are much better, more hydrating alternatives if you're suffering from dry skin.
i GENERALLY go for skincare products that are unscented and don't have sensitizing ingredients. i got a list from my dermatologist and shopped from it for a long time, but as the years have gone by I just use that criteria to guide me and it hasn't failed me yet. i don't care about products being "clean" or "natural" (bc i think that's largely a made up marketing scheme) but shorter ingredient lists are generally better.
your body skin (most of it anyway) is more resilient than your face skin, so something like manual exfoliation is less damaging to it. chemical exfoliation is still preferable a lot of the time, but something like a gritty scrub or a scrubbing mitt works too to slough off dead skin every once in a while. be careful w things like loofas/mitts etc because they can very easily collect bacteria. launder them regularly or replace them after a few uses.
if you DID want to chemically exfoliate your body skin, you could try something like an AHA or BHA toner (glycolic acid or salicylic acid.) that will help w things like ingrown hairs, but also things like texture and dullness. apply it to your skin before moisturizer, and always wear sunscreen because they make your skin more sensitive to sunlight.
moisturizer is important! but everyone's skin is different when it comes to what degree of moisture you need. you might need to try out a couple before u find one that works best for you!! keep in mind that most moisturizer doesn't rly ADD hydration to your skin, it's just occlusive which means it seals existing moisture in. if you're suffering from rly dry skin you might need a HYDRATOR first (look for ingredients like honey, glycerine, hyaluronic acid, etc—which are humectants.)
ok that's all good luck i love u!!

basics for oily skin.
1. makeup/sunscreen remover — do not use makeup wipes!! you can use an oil or balm, but may prefer a micellar water like bioderma’s.
2. foaming or gentle cleanser — hada labo’s hylaronic foaming cleanser is highly rated or YTTP’s green tea cleanser might be better if you lean more towards combo skin. for clogged pores try la roshe posay’s salicylic wash.
3. serum or toners — go for toners and serums that balance your skin’s PH such as acwell’s licorice toner. if you’re struggling with clogged pores, a BHA can help.
4. moisturizer — you still need moisturizer, even if you have oily skin!! there are plenty that are light weight such as cosRx’s advanced snail cream or stratia’s liquid gold. if you are prone to clogged pores, look for a moisturizer that says non-comedogenic.
5. SPF (AM only) — always wear sunscreen. i strongly suggest japanese sunscreens such as anessa’s perfect milk or biore’s aqua rich.
Tumblr media
NOTES:
• change your sheets, bonnets, and towels often.
• sometimes your skin can be extremely dehydrated and over compensate with more sebum production which gives the illusion of oily skin. this will need more TLC, please see the skincareaddiction subreddit for more info.
• diet hugely influences oily skin. things like refined carbs, cows milk, oily foods, etc. can exacerbate your skin’s issues. if you think these might be affecting your skin, try cutting out one thing for 2 weeks and see if you notice any improvement.
• try getting extractions and personalized facials 1-2x a month.

Keep in mind that individual preferences and skin types may vary, so what works well for one person may not work as effectively for another.

Scottish Gaelic Some Phonology
Ø = not pronounced
The reason I am using that symbol is to show the vowel is simply used to show that the consonant not palatalised, and the vowel is not pronounced as an independent sound
I have not posted for a long time. This is just to show my most recent language learning adventure. These are just brief notes. I may update as I learn more Gaelic. If you're also learning Scottish Gaelic, it would be nice to meet you. The following phonology notes are mostly personal and cater to my personal way of understanding the phonology vs spelling relationship in this language and thus is more like a personal diary/ journal rather than a learner's guide.
