Happy 56th to the man who has brought much laughter, tears, and civil war to this blog. As tribute, some of the best anon asks I have ever received about him:
I’m gonna have to accept my brain may always be soup at this point. But it beats feeling tortured all the time?
Anyway, pointless tattoo plotting. For myself. I don’t think it’s wise to consider what is basically an upper arm sleeve for my first, but it’s fantasy land if it’s just in the sketchbook and honestly? Anything to kick at the art block.
It’s all birds: blue Jay and Baltimore oriole, with fresh spring green ash leaves and an autumnal red oak. And maybe a hexagon in there somewhere, I can’t sort that out.
Anyway, this would encapsulate a lot of my favorite things in one go. All that’s missing is bugs! And a loon and pines, but that’s going on the other arm!
Maybe it’s futile to say this, but this humble scribble is for my use only.
My brain always starts to rot with halloween ideas once spooky season comes around, so expect halloween themed drawings before october ends literally tomorrow lmao
"... are you sure you want do to do this, Susie?"
She'd made her mind up. After travelling back to Caladon on a mission with Quercus, Goldenglow knew she couldn't let these feelings stay unresolved any longer.
Every time she'd thought about going back to the city, the abandoned towers, viewable from anywhere within the city, the place where Haze saved her from herself, had haunted her.
She walked up the stairs, mind resolute, and after travelling a couple of stories up, she found a window. It wasn't the same location she'd been in last, but outside the square-shaped hole, the view of Caladon below was identical.
It was the city that had wanted her dead. From this distance, the buildings below seemed hazy and blurry to her, a world's length away from the crumbling foundation on the inside of the abandoned tower.
She shuffled onto the frame of the window, carefully holding onto the side as she sat in the frame. Heights still made her nauseous. Wind pushed against her body, the only barrier between the inside of the tower and the ground below.
Looking down at Caladon, she could only think of how lucky she was that Haze was there that day. How lucky she was that Rhodes had given her a chance that so many Infected couldn't get. She could only think of the other people that had climbed this tower, hopeless, to die.
She let her leg hang over the precipice of the windowsill. She was unsteady. The wind blew strong against her.
She breathed in. It would be so easy to fall off now.
But still, she rested in the windowsill. She would never make that choice again.
Soon after, she returned to the bottom of the tower, marks of tears running down her face, Grani, Quercus, and Haze waiting for her. The Kuranta ran up and squeezed her tightly, the shorter Feline followed after, and Quercus walked up to warmly rub the top of her head, smoothing some frizzy, electrified hairs.
Susie, still choked up, couldn't say anything. But she was so grateful.
