Do you mind me providing another option to consider please? Since you did after all open another blog, do you mind moving the politics entirely to that blog from your main? Im honestly just here for the star wars, i dont want to see politics.
There is a solution.

Thank you , I wonder why Louis fans complain about Louis' songs not being played on the BBC, as if they know everything about the aims and management policies of BBC, and the tastes of their listeners.
Well, it’s very clear that Louis’ music has been blacklisted—both from things he and his team have said, as well as what we’ve heard from people in the industry (DJs etc). His fans complain because they think his music deserves to be heard. Of course, they don’t know everything, but they do know enough to see that something is fishy.

How To Blacklist & Block on Tumblr
Hi! So there are probably a lot of people who have no idea you can blacklist tags and post content!
Why would I want to blacklist things on tumblr? Because this keeps you from seeing things you don't want to see! It can be anything from triggers, to ships you don't care for or even just things you find annoying!
What do you mean by Tags and Post Content? Tags are the Hashtag words that go at the bottom of a post! They are searchable. Post Content is any word that you type into the content box of a post! That is not searchable.
Why would I want to block Post Content? This way, if someone doesn't tag something, but the content of the post does have that word, you can still blacklist that content!
How do I do all these things? Let me show you!
First, go to your profile options
Tumblr media
Next, go to your settings! Once you are there, go down to "Content You See"
Tumblr media
This gives you the options to add or remove words and tags from both Tags and Post Content! It's that easy!
Hey! What about blocking users? There's a few different ways to do that!
Go to the profile of the user who you want to block, click on the little person icon & it will bring up Follow/Unfollow & Block
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Second method! Click on the 3 dots next to a post (NOTE: If the post is the original poster & not a reblog, it will block the original poster. If the post is a REBLOG, it will block the reblogger & not the original poster.)
Tumblr media
And thirdly! Go to your main profile options again but THIS TIME scroll down to the blog you want to block someone from & click Edit Appearance. (I know it's in a odd spot but just bear with me)
Tumblr media
Then scroll all the way down until you get too "Blocked Tumblrs"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This gives you the ability to block and unblock users directly by typing in the name.
So there you go! This is how you keep yourself safe as well as stopping any potential upsetness between users about unwanted content on your feed :)

"love the art, hate the artist"
okay y'all. y'all. so like, I say this regularly. I made it up. but I think it should be used by everyone.
like, this is a hot take, but it's okay to enjoy something made by a shitty person.
this isn't to say boycotting and cancel culture should be stopped! like, if someone is a shitty person, they should not be paid to be able to continue to be shitty. so yeah, go ahead and pirate shit. wait until media is free and enjoy it then.
but like, I feel like people go so hard when it comes to shitty people that they're essentially killing the arts, and the people who find peace with them. it's just not fair.
examples under the cut
I mean the first and most obvious example would be j.k. rowling. there's SO MUCH discourse surrounding her. but there shouldn't need to be. she's an awful person and a transphobe, and she should be avoided and boycotted. she doesn't deserve any more money. that being said, we can support things in the franchise she's not a part of. we should support fanart and fanfiction involving these beloved characters. we should encourage trans headcanons and embrace the fact that a lot of what makes the Harry Potter universe so great is the fans, not her.
another one is Michael Jackson. he was a pervert and shouldn't be celebrated the way he was and still is. that being said, he made music inspired by black culture and in turn inspired new types of music. so his music, things like the moonwalk, they should be appreciated.
John Barrowman is another good one. he was inappropriate and people have every right to blacklist him. but Jack Harkness? Jack Harkness is a PHENOMENAL character. he stands for omni rep, embracing queerness, and is a well constructed character that parallels and bounces off The Doctor beautifully. and? he can easily be recast. it's literally sci-fi dude, it's not that big a deal. yes Barrowman made a huge impact on the character, but he's not all he is. the writers contributed, too.
Jonathan Majors is a hot topic right now. yes, he should absolutely be blacklisted and removed from the mcu. but that doesn't meant they have to get rid of Kang. he was going to be (and still can be) a widely used character - characters, really - within the marvel universe. they can just recast him. they did it with Bruce Banner, they did it with Rhodey, two major characters in the mcu. they've done it with more I can't think of at the moment. and again, it's technically sci-fi. not to mention that with No Way Home and the Loki variants, they clearly showed that the same character can have different faces/actors.
notable mention: Tom Cruise. Knight and Day was awesome.
so yeah. hate the artist, love the art. it's really not as big a deal as people make it out to be.

Really, that’s how it is? @amtrak-official
Multiple in-person interviews later, still no job offer, and now I can’t apply to postings because “I’ve already applied”. Should I keep trying, or is #blacklisting a component?

I think the point of that ask was not that he wasn’t doing well but why he is doing well. It’s formulaic. The industry encourages you by the levers it has created to follow their preset path to success.
Also, his management is still modest, they did create 1D so they do know a bit about marketing.
Modest Management hasn’t managed Louis since 2015. Niall has started a golf management branch with them (which is doing well, I guess?) but Louis is with Seven 7 Management and Matt Vines.
The assumption behind the ask is that critical acclaim can elevate an artist’s popularity enough to get them on airwaves (not true), and pop music criticism is independent of the influence of power and money in the industry (also not true).
Strangely, an album by a former 1D alum — the best-selling band in their day— that outsold Bruce Springsteen (!) to get a UK No. 1 was reviewed by barely enough critics in the USA and UK combined, to get a Metacritic score (5 reviews are required).
The number of FITF albums sold that week was more than twice as many as James Arthur sold last week to get a #1 (he sold 17k).
For any other artist, beating Springsteen would be a triumphant David v. Goliath type story, and the album would get spins. Following this achievement, BBC Radio One played FITF songs about 16 times that year, total, mostly between midnight and 5 AM. In contrast, they played Harry Styles (whose album was released 8 months prior) roughly once per hour.
In the meantime, Louis went on BBC Radio. He worked with Abbie McCarthy, a BBC DJ. In years past, he interviewed with Jack Saunders. You can see on bbcr1 Instagram that Louis is very popular— there’s no lack for an audience; he gets views and clicks. Following these endeavors, there were minimal spins for Louis’ current music.
Louis went on Elvis Durand’s program at iHeart NYC. He sold out Forest Hills Stadium. He went on iHeart LA with Jojo Wright. Louis sold out Hollywood Bowl, and his audience was enthusiastic enough that Variety was forced to mention it in a review of Neil Young’s concert.
No spins from iHeart NYC or LA.
In the past, when fans have called radio stations to request Louis’ music in the USA, they have been told that “it isn’t available.” Sony did not release every Walls single for radio stations to obtain rights — which means the stations had to request the songs on their own, one by one.
So you can see that the layers of obstruction / blacklisting are systemic and it start with Sony, with Rob Stringer. It isn’t a conspiracy dreamed up by Louies; there are years of documentation.

Nigel Farage’s bank accounts were closed down after Coutts decided that his views “do not align with our values”, documents obtained by the former Ukip leader show.
A reputational risk committee “exited” Mr Farage after considering a dossier detailing his comments about Brexit, his friendship with Donald Trump and his views on LGBT rights among many reasons he was not “compatible with Coutts”.
The background briefing paper even made reference to Mr Farage’s friendship with Novak Djokovic, the former Wimbledon champion, as evidence that he was not as “inclusive” as the bank.

— Nigel Farage (@Nigel_Farage) January 9, 2022
Earlier this month, the BBC and the Financial Times reported claims that the reason Mr Farage’s accounts were closed was that they fell below the financial threshold required by the bank. The BBC quoted sources “familiar with” the Coutts decision.
Yet in the 40 pages of documents released to Mr Farage after he made a subject access request to Coutts, the bank repeatedly says he “meets the EC [economic contribution] criteria for commercial retention”.
Writing for The Telegraph, Mr Farage accuses the private bank of “lying” about the real reason he was cut off, saying the documents show that the decision was politically driven.
He describes the file as a “Stasi-style surveillance report” and notes that the word Brexit appears in the report 86 times – which, he says, “perhaps tells us all we need to know”.
“Between 2014 and 2016, when I first banked with Coutts, no problems ever arose. After Brexit became a reality, everything changed,” he writes.
Minutes of a meeting of Coutts’ wealth reputational risk committee held on Nov 17 2022 state: “The committee did not think continuing to bank NF was compatible with Coutts given his publicly-stated views that were at odds with our position as an inclusive organisation.
“This was not a political decision but one centred around inclusivity and purpose.”
Mr Farage has said Coutts told him he was not being treated as a Politically Exposed Person (PEP) – a legal term for customers who are deemed risky for political reasons – but the dossier specifically states that he is one.
He writes: “Whoever at Coutts thought it clever to feed friendly media outlets outright lies about me sorely misjudged the situation.”
The document contains 39 mentions of Mr Trump, and Mr Farage says: “The fact that I support Donald Trump is part of this charge sheet.”
mentioned 86 times, “Russia” 144 & “PEP” 10.

Support for Trump + views on immigration, net zero & the vaccine are listed as reasons to exit me.

They say my account is commercially viable! pic.twitter.com/QjPCuUetu3
— Nigel Farage (@Nigel_Farage) July 18, 2023
Speaking on Mr Farage’s GB News show, Lord Lamont, a former chancellor, said: “I was appalled when I looked at the documents.
“It seems to me a right to have a bank account is a fundamental right... but it appears that the executives of the bank were going through your views and saying they were not compatible with their values. That is not the function of a bank. It’s extraordinary that a bank should set itself up as some judge of political correctness.”
Some senior Tory MPs have called for a change in the law on PEPs to prevent abuse of the system. Under UK financial law, gatekeepers of the banking system must perform enhanced checks on people classed as PEPs, their families and close associates.
The Treasury has confirmed that it is reviewing whether banks are blacklisting customers with controversial political views. Under the new Financial Services and Markets Act, the Financial Conduct Authority will look at how banks deal with PEPs in a review to take place within the next year.
A spokesman for the Treasury said: “It would be of serious concern if financial services were being denied to anyone exercising their right to lawful free speech.
“We will soon set out plans to crack down on this practice by toughening the rules around account closures, protecting freedom of expression. In the meantime, people can complain to the Financial Ombudsman Service which has the power to direct a bank to reopen an account.”
Supporters of Mr Farage have warned that the PEP rules are increasingly being used to turn away any customers whose views the bank might disagree with.
Mr Farage says he is consulting his lawyers to decide what action is appropriate in the light of his treatment by Coutts.
A Coutts spokesman said: “Our ability to respond is restricted by our obligations of client confidentiality. Decisions to close accounts are not taken lightly and take into account a number of factors including commercial viability, reputational considerations and legal and regulatory requirements.”

We knew he was being blacklisted from radio especially BBC1 but having it confirmed by someone from BMG is crazy.
The fact that when hosts heard the song they loved it but then as soon as louis’ name was mentioned they refused to put it on their playlists. Radio blacklisting Louis is one problem but another major problem is why are BMG not focusing their energy elsewhere? I know radio is important but that unfortunately is not an option for Louis and his music so they need to get creative with how they expose him to the GP now because just sitting down and taking this bullshit isn’t enough anymore. They need to do more for him.
Bottom line though I’m frustrated for Louis knowing that this album deserved that sort of exposure and it was quite literally taken from him, yeh I’m annoyed.

I hate when the tumblr blacklisted tag filter just. Refuses to work properly.
You have something blacklisted, but you still see posts of it on your dash. So you groan to yourself and open the OG post to check OP's tags - because normally this is due to OP not tagging at all, or somehow using different tags.
But they're right there. The very tag(s) you blacklisted. On the original post. SO WHY IS THIS ON MY DASH??
And it's not because tumblr didn't take to the blacklisting; other posts with the tag(s) are properly hidden. But every like third or so post... still shows up.
There's a reason I blacklisted this. I don't want to see it.

So this may not be strictly to do with aro/aceness, but I keep seeing that blocking certain tags is an option, but have no idea how to do this!
Would anyone mind explaining for me please? I am more on the repulsed side of the spectrum and would like to try and cultivate my feed just a little bit more to exclude things I’m uncomfortable with (even if some people tend to ignore the organising function due to “censorship”).
Thanks!!

ive been getting better at using tumblr i think (queuing posts more often, blacklisting tags i don’t like and blacklisting certain users to curate my feed better) and yeah! that’s something i don’t think other people know, or i didn’t realize you could do but i found helpful— blacklisting any of a certain users content by putting their usernames in the content i don’t want to see, so i don’t have to interact with them but they can still interact with me! 10/10 would recommend

I'm a daily listener of bbc radio 1 (to improve my english) And I've noticed that they don't play music from Indie rock Alternative rock Britpop Pop rock Genres; leaving aside the discussion that Louis being blacklisted by the BBC or not , maybe the fact that the genre of music that Louis sings is not very popular all over the world is one of the reasons why BBC doesn't play his song at all?
I’m not super familiar with British radio, but I believe there are different BBC channels that focus on different audiences. And different programs that focus on different genres. I know here in the US, radio stations have “formats” and the pop station won’t play “rock” or hip hop etc. And vice versa. I’d imagine there are more than a few reasons Louis’ music isn’t played on the BBC.

Tag Blacklisting
I see posts sometimes about the importance of tagging, mainly because of how it lets people filter out content they don't want. Which I agree with! However, it relies on people tagging and blocking tags consistently, which... probably isn't ever going to happen. SO. What can you do, if you need to block certain content but it's not tagged consistently?
🌟New XKit Blacklisting🌟
XKit lets you hide posts based on the contents of the post, not just the contents of the post's tags.
Install this xkit extension:
Tumblr media
find it in the menu:
Tumblr media
And for this example, we're blocking any posts that mention Goncharov:
Tumblr media
Note that you can also whitelist words, which means that any posts that would be filtered by it won't be. For example, if I added the word "gay" to the whitelist, then posts about goncharov would only show up IF and ONLY IF they also contain the word "gay" somewhere in the post- This can include the body, tags, or even usernames. Other things you can do:
-Block the username of someone you follow, but add the tags of theirs you like to the whitelist. So if an artist you want to follow tags all their stuff "my art", you can blacklist their username but whitelist the tag, and the only posts by (or mentioning) that user that will show up on your dashboard are posts that say "my art" in a tag or text.
-Toggle between hiding a post behind a warning, and hiding it entirely.
-Exclude your own posts from the filter. (I will still be able to see this post, despite it talking about goncharov!)
-Exclude posts you've liked or replied to from the filter
-Toggle using blog titles / usernames for filtering

Just a friendly reminder that On the Waterfront (1954) starring Marlon Brando was written as an attempt to demonize unions and support McCarthyism. Director Elia Kazan had testified before The House Un-American Committee, and ended the careers of eight of his friends by identifying them as communists and blacklisting them. Afterwards, when he agreed to direct the film, he demanded that writer Arthur Miller replace the film’s antagonists with Marxists. When Miller refused, he was dismissed.
Tumblr media
On the Waterfront is a beautifully shot film, and a masterpiece in deep-focus photography. However, I’m not sure if many contemporary viewers realize how controversial it was at the time of its release.

Beijing blacklisting more Taiwanese books: source
Tumblr media
Censorship is visible in the pages of the Taiwanese book Love, Let’s Go, Live in Taiwan, purchased in China.
by William Hetherington / Staff writer, with CNA
Standards for Taiwanese book imports by Chinese resellers have become stricter, an independent bookstore owner in Beijing said yesterday.
In the past, with the exception of titles written by exiled Chinese writer Gao Xingjian (高行健), most books published in Taiwan could be imported to China, the owner said, speaking anonymously.
However, now certain publishers that print works touching upon subjects that are sensitive in China, such as democracy, protests and human rights, are now blacklisted entirely, the person said, citing the experiences of Gusa Publishing (八旗文化).
In other cases, books are allowed to be imported, but have entire sections torn out, or have words replaced or removed, they said.
For resellers in China to import Taiwanese books, they must first submit a list of titles they wish to purchase to a state-owned import company, and then there is a wait time of three months — up from six weeks previously — to receive the books, they said.
Regarding the increased time to import books, the owner said that while COVID-19 pandemic restrictions added to delays, a considerable factor was likely the stricter censorship process.
