Books have gotta learn that I don't wanna hear a review from like the New York Times or some shit, I'm not buying your book cause some asshat working for a shit magazine or newspaper said it was good, I'm buying it cause I find the story interesting.
Removing the blurb on the back of the book just to put the fucking shitty reviews in is gonna make me NOT BUY THE BOOK.

How is it in the year of our Lord 2023 that out of all things i was not expecting to actually enjoy a goddamn zack synder movie of all things like I have never seen a zack snyder film that I have liked before in my entire life.
Youve probably seen bad reviws for it but kust head me out okay...
Like I am moctly critical of the guy and if asked of my opion any point prior would say I think he should have been a cinemtograrhper and never a dricetor as his eye for visuals is great but his story and dricetion usally not so much. Like i would have describded him as a man who's become famous for making horrible adpatations of comic books into films. Always bastardising the charcaters and orignal meaning of the source material by failing the hypotthecial D20 roll for an 8th grade reading comphresion level check with a -30. That somehow seem to mosyly produce pro-facist messages that glorify western civilsation and hitsory that's loved by a fan base riffe with toxic masculinty.
Like how did this man produce a sci-fi movie with a female lead who carries the film and carries on the trope of buff women in thank tops that all claasic sci-fi greats have, rejects peer pressure to get with the strong traditionally masculine type and has its actual main male character and love intest be a too guiable and innocent farm boy who only wants to try his best to help people,
It has a overtly Anti-facist Anti-imeprlaism and Anti-colonilaism message at its core vis vi a plot like seven smaurai, is more creative with its set peice locations then most of the last three star wars movies.
Thats not even mentioning that it has a diverse supporting cast all with their own interesting back storirs from a legendary warrior who understnads greif of losing family and is agaisnt the glorfication fo violence as noble, to an old depressed war general who is punishing himself for past mistakes, a prince who was sold into slavery on a farm and has a compassin for animals who are treated horrinly liks he persumibly is, a robot who was built for war but would rather be commited to kindness with a great unique design and voiced by anthony f#cking hopkins.
Like everyone anyone can feel free to have wathever opion you want about this film its far from perfect, is it just kinda nock off star wars, yeah it is, but I would argue it says more in its run time and bettet then the last three star wars movies did in all of theirs did, not to mention kora as a charcter does more for former facist turned good plot then fin ever acheived.
I enjoyed it immensly also its audience score is like three times as high as its critical one so I feel vindicated enough that even if you don't think it's some kind of masterpiece of modern cinema you hoepfully will find some value in it

i need to talk about john water’s liarmouth bc i haven’t seen people actually talking about it here and i don’t want to read thinkpiece goodreads reviws bc those are always a pain but !!!!! this book!!!
it’s so interesting how waters talks about motherhood, bc like, in female trouble it is certainly a muddy thing, with it being the source of so much pain for divine’s character but also her deep pleasure bc she is a little shit and not a good mother; pink flamingoes is pink flamingoes, i love but won’t touch with a thousand yard long pole
and in here we have two moms that hate their children in such specific ways, and two children that hate their mothers in such an specific way... both poppy and marsha are their mother’s daughters and both marsha and adore are their daughter’s motehrs
this is a “not as deep as it seems” kind of thing, but oh god it’s so interesting to me to look at the recurring themes in water’s carrer
also there is a talking dick that is aptly named richard

BOOK REVIW (WINGS OF FIRE THE DRAGONET PROPHECY)
Title: Wings of Fire: The Dragonet Prophecy
Genre: Fantasy
Author: Tui T Sutherland
Page Count: 336
Rating: 5 stars
Reviewed by: Jennie McGowan
5 eggs to hatch on the brightest night, 5 dragons born to end the fight. War has raged through the continent of Pyrrhia for years, and dragonets Clay, Tsunami, Glory, Starflight, and Sunny are supposed to stop it according to the prophecy. 7 tribes, 5 of them, will they be able to fulfill the prophecy they’re destined for?
I loved this book, from the first few sentences, I was hooked until the end. It’s a good pace, it never dragged. Which is important to me because I get bored easily. Although it’s directed for a younger audience, it’s enjoyable to read regardless of age. The characters have such good development over the course of the book, and in the other books in the series. I could see myself and others in their personalities, despite them being dragons and not human. I identified strongly with Glory and Starflight, being sarcastic and an avid reader. I espescially liked the sense of escapism. The book and series is its own little world, which made me excited to read it each time I picked it back up. This book changed my perspective on the world around me because it really shows how different people are in terms of personality, beliefs, values, etc. Each of the 7 dragon tribes, Mudwings, Seawings, Rainwings, Nightwings, Sandwings, Skywings, and Icewings make Pyrrhia so diverse. Even the characters themselves view the prophecy and war differently from one another. This book made me feel countless emotions ranging from triumphant to scared, just from what the characters were feeling. The cover depicts the 5 main protagonists flying, and I got to say, it even looks pretty awesome. Another artistic detail that truly added to this book was the map of Pyrrhia as one of the first pages. It shows where each tribe’s territory lies, rivers, palaces, etc. The book also has a brief description of each tribe based on the current knowledge at that point in the series. It occasionally updates as the series progresses, if you decide to read the other books as well. I would highly recommend this book to just about anyone, it just has such a built society and lore that makes it interesting to think about weeks or even months after reading it.
I would rate this book easily 5 stars, an excellent start to an amazing series.

Run, don’t walk to your nearest bookstore/audiobook app/library/anywhere else you can find books to pick this one up.
I have heard amazing things about this book for months, and when I saw that an audiobook copy was available at the library, I snagged that right away and promptly proceeded to listen to the whole thing within about 3 days. It’s read by the author, and only about 7 hours at 1.0x speed.
Mikki Kendall describes how many portions of our daily lives from healthcare, to clean water, to childcare, are feminist issues but are largely forgotten by the main stream (white) feminist movement. As I was listening to this book, I realized how much my own education and knowledge of the feminist movement is white washed and non-inclusive towards the needs of all women.
This is a stepping stone towards learning about all aspects of life that should be considered feminist priorities. The current feminist movement excludes people of color, specifically Black people, and that needs to change. White people specifically (myself included) need to listen to activists like Mikki Kendall, educate ourselves and those around us, and begin to use our privilege to make a change.

Review for Children on Blood and Bone!! I loved this novel (yes I spelled it wrong up there, pretend you cannot see). Adeyemi tackled some huge issues in here, issues that are happening right now. I thought right now would be a good time to finish this up! I NEED to find the second one and read it asap!
Also it will be a minute before I upload more reading because I have to wait until Tuesday to get my assigned summer reading!! Then you will be hearing from me a lot! Also I know I said I would do a productivity challenge but that didn't happen so maybe I will try that again!

a genuine question (keep in mind english is my second language): what's with the general dislike/sometimes even hate of passive voice in english writing? i see so many writing advice saying you should never use passive voice, and even some people say writing with passive voice is flat out bad and lazy writing? is this an overblown preference or is there an actual grammatical reason behind it? or is it just one of those language things that are that way without a real reason?
i personally really like passive voice, i like reading it and writing in, i think it adds a certain rhythm to the sentences.

Scheda informativa
Titolo originale: Saundotorakku
Autore: Furukawa Hideo
Editore: Sellerio
Prima edizione: 2003
Pagine: 754
Prezzo: € 18,00
Trama
