[Image ID: a blue monochromatic digital painting of Park Jimin and Kim Taehyung standing atop a frozen lake. Their faces are turned away from each other and their feet are stuck to the ice by white vines crawling up their legs. The ice is cracking where they stand. In their reflections in the ice, they are both reaching for each other. End ID.]

My initial reflections on Indigo
re:online hatred and trolls
With the most incredible timing, just as I am going through a period of disdain for the Internet culture, Namjoon drops a project where he multiple times expresses his dislike for the online world and everything that comes with it. You don't need any theories or crooked narratives, it's enough to just listen to what the members say and write about. As always the answers are there as clear as a day.
An excerpt from Still life (my own interpretation and trans):
'걔네 조롱은 듣지 마 니 귀 버려'
Don't listen to their mockery, it'll ruin your ears
'꼭 버러지들 온라인에 목숨 걸어'
Those pests who put their life at risk online*
(*I'm interpreting this line as those who go to the extent of attacking or dissing someone online as if their whole life depended on it)
More general thoughts: As expected, Namjoon put out an album that leaves you thinking. Just like an exhibition, every piece (track) conveys a certain mood, a window into a momentary state of soul. After walking through the whole exhibit, you'll realize you walked down a passage of the artist's life unfolding various storylines. Each of them is meaningful on their own, and at the same time all of them together paint a certain picture that lingers. Most amazingly though, this full picture only becomes apparent after you start walking away from the museum. That's the brilliance of a true artist.

Capturing the emotions of being an outsider who doesn’t fit in, RM’s second solo album ‘Right Place, Wrong Person’ will be released on May 24th.
The pre-release single ‘Come Back To Me’ is out now.
Previous tracks of RM’s touching upon the themes of loneliness, self reflection and hidden pain include ‘Moonchild’, ‘Lonely’ and ‘Wildflower’.
RM is famed for his lyricism so this album is sure to resonate with many people 💜

Hey, look, I don't have anything against Shelley Conn? I distrust Amazon and white cishet male directors, writers, and show runners and their ability to properly depict a romance involving an (up to this point) pretty gender neutral presenting nonbinary character.
I am a nonbinary person who is very feminine presenting currently. I may change this in the future, but just because it's not what I personally want for myself doesn't mean that other nonbinary people can't be feminine and love being feminine. Beelzebub is just one of the few nonbinary characters I've seen who is unapologetically NOT feminine in a way that doesn't align with stereotypes of gender. Beelzebub is not fem. They aren't butch. They aren't particularly masculine either. They just are.
For me, personally, to see them continue to present this way while being the object of someone's affection would be incredibly personal and affirming. A large reason I have stayed so feminine over the years is an inherent belief that no one will love me otherwise. Largely because of what I see in media.
It would not make Beelzebub less nonbinary if they were to present more feminine this season. However, Beelzebub is not real, they don't make these decisions. The show runners do, they decide how Beelzebub looks and acts and talks and to my knowledge none of them are nonbinary or have particular interest in Beelzebub being nonbinary (perhaps Neil does, but we don't know that for sure, and I am inclined to be sceptical). That is the thing that makes me nervous.
I never intended to hold Shelley Conn to a higher standard as a woman of color. She is very beautiful, yes, but that does not affect her performance. I am simply wary of showrunners seeing a beautiful woman, who they are writing a romance for, and leaning into her femininity. There are almost no romances involving people like Beelzebub on TV and I don't want to see them become something different to suite conventional ideas of what is desirable.
And, again, this is a personal feeling and it's not even grounded in anything concrete. It's very possible none of this will happen and that would be fantastic. What I'm getting at here is that I look at Bee and I see myself and I don't want that to change. I was really just venting and I'm sorry if it touched a nerve for others, but I really didn't mean to come off as hating Shelley Conn
