#wasnt wearing leg padding in these so sorry sams a bit skinny #sam and max #cosplay #crunchchute art #my art #i could remake the pants and jacket entirely but that would be quite hard actually. i suck at making jackets especially #so those are just thrifted and edited #lots of color differences that bug me but. oh well #pants and jacket arent that different but its noticeable in these pics #as well as maxs hands and feet. theyre slightly lighter as the fabric i used is better quality #but i ran out of the stuff i used on his body etc and i couldnt buy more from that store as they took their sweet time shipping the stuff #oh well. didnt make them for a competition so its okay #im my own biggest hater and my own biggest critic #at the end of the day i made a handful of people really happy and thats all that matters to me #gotta share them every chance i get as i usually just make a cos #wear it to the con and then put it on the shelf #but im too happy with these to just hide them away after #they need a good scrub and after that id like to bring them to another con. next main goal is viecc but thats just a maybe right now

ITS PILLBUG CHILLCHUCK!!! BUGCHUCK!!!! CHILBUG!!!! PILLCHUCK!!!! teketekatekateketekateka (<- sound of him skittering across the floor)

this started out as a joke design but then i got really invested halfway through

(inspired by @buniix3's hc on this post and the many jokes about him being a bug)

as a side note, an explanation on a pun thats just for me : "teka" means "wait" or "hold on" in Filipino, but it also happens to be an onomatopoeia for bug/skittering noises, so when hes saying "teka! teka!" hes practically making bug sounds despite it being an actual word HAHAHA

+ some design notes :

- his two hair thingys on his head became antenna (<- as if they werent practically antenna already)

- his bag is/resembles a monkey cup (a plant shaped like a pitcher that lures prey in with nectar until they slip and fall into the "cup" and get digested - similar to that man-eating plant in ep. 2)! also i wanted to make it vaguely similar to the frog suit, just because i like that outfit and i feel that it should be memorialized

- i dont think this is true to actual pillbugs, but i made him have claw-like (or maybe hoof-like is more fitting) hands and feet because uhhh i thought itd be fun, + ants have them im pretty sure

- the open toed shoes are mostly because i wanted to show the hoofs but you could also reason that its for dexterity/agility purposes

anyways i like him... buggo.... beady ass eyes... love that guy

luffy asking zoro the "would you still love me if i was a worm?" thing and zoro at first being confused af bc "what kind of question is that?" but instantly saying that yeah, he would love him in any shape or form as long as he is still his captain.

sanji and usopp overhear everything, they're next to them. and sanji thinks it's the dumbest question ever, to which zoro replies with "you only say that because you're so fucking scared of bugs that you couldn't love your boyfriend if he turned into a worm one day, shitty cook". which directly offends him, like, to the damn core, because well- at least he would try, right? to love usopp no matter what! but it's just mosshead who says it, so it doesn't mean anything.

but usopp tells him that it's fine and that he understands if he didn't love him if he was a worm and that fears are often stronger than love and, y'know, it's just a stupid question.

sanji can't have that.

so he goes all the way to show usopp that he would still love him if he was a worm by trying to befriend the bugs he has in his little terrarium in his workshop.

he ends up crying and shaking and usopp has to shower with him and hug him for hours after one of the bugs ended up on his face.

moral of the story: "that question is bullshit and it's impossible to turn somebody into a worm and i fucking hate bugs and they hate me too but i love you a lot" — sanji to usopp, probably

Found throughout the eastern United States and down into Mexico, this species, like other bristle flies, is a protelean parasitoid with primarily true bug hosts. Adults feed on flower nectar, true bug honeydew, and pollen.
