Hey, do you feel their a double standard between the old moon and the original eclipse ? People will defend original eclipse actions like he was alone. Nobody gave him a chance, BUT when you bring up old moon and some good he did or say he was hurt too they be no old moon was terrible and irredeemable don't get me wrong I do consider them similar they both have s connection to the killcode and they did hurt people but I feel one get criticized harder than the other
Yeah, no I completely agree with you.
Old Moon wasn't as terrible as people made him out to be.
Yes, he was an abuser and toxically codependent with Sun. To the point he even told Sun he's not allowed to feel any emotions other then happiness or he won't be happy.
But the love was Damn there. Old Moon sacrificed everything he could to keep his family safe. Which carried over to the new Moon spectacularly.
NewMoon is very hard on his old self. Because he didn't like how he treated Sun. OldMoon tortured and tormented Sun until they separated and decided to become brothers.
Evil!Sun even said that Moon and Sun becoming brothers in that outcome is rare across dimensions. One or the other kills each other, or Moon dies early.
OldMoon also because of his trauma he sympathized more with villians, which is why Eclipse got to the position where Sun destroyed Moon's manna pool that lead to his death in the first place. Oldmoon feeling compassion for Lunar who took him in as a brother without Sun's permission. OldMoon who couldn't kill KC once he showed signs of change. OldMoon who took the deal with Eclipse.
OldMoon took on so many responsibilities on himself, because he saw himself as the Protector of "Sun's innocence" and his One singular family member was all he had back then. So of course he'd be protective and he even said that Sun was the only good thing in his life.
(Kinda reminds me how Solar sees his own Sun.)
But now... NewMoon has many family. Earth actually helped raise Moon in a sense, cause as far as NewMoon is concerned, his sister has been here since the start. And Sun was greiving and mourning, so Earth Stepped up and showed Moon how to become a compassionate person, even before Sun told him to watch the videos on their channel. I don't doubt she was an extremely positive influence as he developed into his own person.
NewMoon does carry the traits of the old Moon, caring deeply about his family, but he's FAR LESS codependent then he was. He now has different trauma of building up his old self, and villians in his head as more then how they are. He's just scared of becoming something he doesn't want. Or going back to the old bad habits he did have. Which is why he veers so hard in the other direction.
OldMoon sympathized with Villains? Well, now NewMoon won't give them a chance (Although I think that changed when he saw how pointless and pathetic Eclipse is)
NewMoon even attempted to hug and comfort Sun very early in his life. Which Sun pushed away, or flinched inwards at, because he wasn't used to affection from Moon. Even Now, NewMoon is sad that he doesn't get a lot of hugs.
OldMoon did have his good points, but his bad points too.
I actually do like to think OldMoon is watching Sun through NewMoon's eyes. Happy of the brother he can finally be now.

Bit of a Hot Take...
I’ve read a lot of meta today advocating for both “The Old Jedi were Right” vs “Luke’s redefinition of the Jedi Code is superior and the Old Jedi were Flawed” and here’s what I have to say about that:
The Old Jedi were a thoroughly just Order made of kind, compassionate, GOOD people, whose fall was honestly no fault of their own. They had their flaws and misfit members, of course (as any organization with 10,000+ complex individuals would have), but the actions of their “bad eggs” were caused by misfortune, misunderstanding, honestly understandable breakdowns, or almost solely those own members’ fault/purposefully engineered by Palpatine (coughAnakinonbothcountscough) and NOT a reflection of the greater Order.
They had a good, or at least understandable, reason for each rule they had and each philosophy they espoused as an organization, while allowing individuals to formulate their own interpretations and relationships to the Force, or even leave if they felt they could not abide by the Order’s code. And to be honest, a lot of folks here portray the Jedi as a lot more draconian than they really are in canon.
Lastly, they did absolutely nothing to deserve their fall. It was deliberate Genocide a literal millennium in the making, which they were made aware of much too late to actually do anything.
At the same time, I feel Luke’s interpretations of various Jedi philosophies and teachings are equally valid and applicable, and his allowance of marriage and prior familial in his New Jedi Order make sense given his context. He’s basically rebuilding the Order from scratch, the last survivor of a genocide that erased most the prior frameworks or even influence the Old Jedi held just thirty years prior. He can’t operate in the same way the Old Jedi did, so he recruits adults, allows families, and generally operates a much more social Order. Furthermore, he wasn’t raised as a Jedi, so while he does adopt the culture and beliefs as his own, he’s essentially viewing it from an outsider’s perspective at the beginning, with his own preconceptions and values, and thus is liable to change it. (Which is hardly a bad thing, imo)
And to be perfectly honest, even in Legends, where he founds a Jedi Order that lasts, he...fucks up. Like quite often. He cuts his training short to save his friends, which while noble and true to his character, is ultimately a fool’s errand that only nets him a missing hand, missing saber, and a whole slew of daddy issues. His faith that his father will choose a better path is ultimately validated, yes, but it could have easily backfired if Anakin/Vader was even slightly different as a person. Even years later, his own attachment/connection to his family, normally a strength, blinds him to Jacen’s Fall, and Mara’s death causes him to lash out in anger, controlled and blinded by his emotions, killing someone who wasn’t guilty (of THAT crime). (insert greatest virtue being greatest flaw here).
But still, Luke is a kind, compassionate, GOOD person. Flawed, yes, but in every way a true Jedi. Unorthodox by Old Order standards, but the right person to found a new one.

Eda and her curse
When I watched "Keeping up A- Fear- Ances" for the first time, I cried so much when Eda's mother apologised to her about how she treated her condition, that she understood why she pushed her away and she loved all of her daughter's parts... Also, she acknowledged she should've paid more attention to Lilith because she is also her daughter.
I've read and heard so many arguments about parents with personality (or plain) disorders. As someone who is raised by someone who is undiagnosed but clearly suffering from the same disorder I have (I think it is genetic from one parent's side of the family, as more members struggled to some degree), I have to say that it is very difficult, but no because of the disorder, but because the actions, the gaslighting and the unfairness. If I had X compulsion, I was 'fucking crazy'; if my parent had it, it was excused, justified by 'they're unwell, leave them alone, be a good daughter'.
I was told I'd never been able to have a normal life because of my OCD, because I was 'letting it' boss me around and controlled me because 'I wanted to (?)'.
Now, The Owl House did so many things right, especially this subject.
Edalyn was cursed, had to learn not to let things get to her or she'd turn into a literal monster she could barely control because she ran from it instead of confronting it, because that's what their parents and everyone else taught her, by being afraid of her 'monster form'. STILL, she never used this as an excuse to be a shitty person. She took in King, Luz, forgave Lilith and helped her when the curse was shared, always tried to be good and strong for those around her and never let her curse define her entire personality, just learnt to live with it and accept it as part of her.
And then... there's this scene in the finale, when Belos, who would deserve several posts because I love him so much as a villain... When he is defeated, 'back to his human form' and tries to play the victim saying he was doing unspeakable things because he was cursed and couldn't help himself. He even tried to play with Luz's kind-hearted nature by comparing himself to Eda. "I was cursed, like your mentor".
Luz isn't moved in the slightest, and I think that silent, cold glare she dedicated Belos/Philip said so much more than an hour-lenght monologue. Even if he was cursed, he is responsible for his actions, and he didn't show remorse, just try to excuse everything, never admitting blame. So, she knew he was buffling once again.
You can't choose to live with a disorder or a personality disorder. However, abuse is a choice. I know I can be difficult when I get in spiral mode (I've got pure OCD, so it's more obsessive and mental), but I don't abuse people, I don't mistreat them, I try to be kind, I try to spread awareness, be understanding. Just being a decent human being, which is difficult, but totally worth it.
I am sick of enablers more than abusers. Especially with double standards. Being compassionate, understanding and good-natured will NEVER mean you have to tolerate abuse 'because the poor person is sick'.
When someone tries to pull that crap, I remember Luz's cold, inexpressive glare. And you should, too. Being good does not equal being trampled over countless times. Have compassion with yourself first, and then you'll know when and how to be it with others without hurting yourself in the process.

In the Soundwave timeline, how's he gonna take over the world? He and Laserbeak have a groundbridge and some Cybertronian ship, but will that be enough to stop Optimus and Megatron from protecting humanity? Marley and Paradise are working well together so far, especially with Calvi out of the picture and Willy befriending Optimus, so they have a huge advantage over Soundwave.
Part 8: Willy and Lara feelings about Megatron
Soundwave still has Pieck, and I stated before that he will use the technology he's gathered along with using that technology to create a groundbridge (so he's going to be sending people into the Shadowzone), a ship of his own, and Lazerbeak.
But just for fun, I'll throw in Hizuru as Soundwave blackmailing the continent. (In this timeline, Hizuru and Paradis have not made contact.)
With Soundwave's expert spying, he realizes that Marley and Paradis has joined forces, and knowing that will cause a derailment in his plans, needs extra support and fast. He went after the Middle Eastern Alliance and stole their technology because they were the ones who actively stood a chance against Marley's forces. They had the best technology, but because of his interference, the Middle Eastern Alliance are now turning on each other.
(He watches the shit go down as entertainment while Pieck is just mortified at it all.)
So Soundwave knows that he's going to need a temporary army until he can finish his machine to contact the Decepticons. Through his spying, he finds out about Hizuru shady deals and military advancements and decides that they are the best route.
He waits, spies on the locals, finds out more information about Ambassador Kiyomi, the Azumabito Clan, the Hizuru Royal Family, and the country's disdain for the royal family. He learns that the current one was placed there during the loss of the actual heir and the fall of the Eldian Empire. Taisho's father was despised, Taisho himself is hated, Kenshin is considered neutral, but...they all seem to adore Katsuko, the Emperor's wife.
So some OC background that I wanted to divulge in for Taisho and Katsuko since I have talked about Kenshin in the past. Taisho was around during the height of the Marleyan Empire and the scorn and ridicule of the Hizuru Empire. His father became corrupt due to his own dealings to try and get rich, instead of valuing the future of Hizuru. Taisho had constantly witnessed uncertainty, death threats, assault, everything. The only friend he had was Kiyomi, since she was already part of the Azumabito clan. Taisho and his father's relationship was terrible, abusive even. Taisho's only desire is just to survive in this ever changing world.
The only time Taisho was willing to risk it all and throw the crown away himself was because of Katsuko. Katsuko was definitely a low ranking member of society, but she is exceptionally brilliant and deeply compassionate to those around her. She fought tooth and nail to try and learn everything she could for a woman of her time and do her best to hold herself to a higher standard despite her status. One thing leads to another, and she and Taisho meet for the first time, and then continue to meet in secret.
And Taisho...feels safe with her. Initially, he thought she was there for an ulterior motive, but Katsuko never abused her knowledge of his identity or tried to take advantage of him like so many others. Taisho falls and he falls hard. People see Katsuko and Taisho together, and they don't like Taisho, but they adore Katsuko because of her kindness throughout the capital. Taisho's father does find out about this and immediately tries to destroy the relationship, but Taisho finds out and immediately threatens him: if he so much as lays a finger on her, he will never see Taisho again.
Taisho's father still tries, but the public love Katsuko, and his partners do see a benefit in gaining public approval. The father still disapproves, tries to make Katsuko's life in the temple a living hell. But Katsuko's been through worse and just keeps her head held high. This only furthers the kingdom's resentment of Taisho's father. Kiyomi ends up finding out about the father's attempt to downright assassinate Katsuko and stages a quiet coup. Using the diplomatic skills she's been training for, she convinces the other council members of the importance of removing the father and putting Taisho on the thrown immediately for the ultimate future of this nation. Most of them agree, since they've noticed his behavior is out of control. One day, Taisho discovers that his father died in his sleep. But Taisho's not stupid. His father was in perfect health and would've lived a long life with all the luxuries he had. Someone caused his death, and he had a gut feeling who.
"Do you resent me for it?" Kiyomi asked him that night.
Taisho crossed his arms and sighed. "You know how my father was. His love was only for money. Not for his country, not for his dead wife, not even me. I don't resent you for it, Kiyomi. You made a call to protect this nation. You'll make a good ambassador."
"I could turn on you, one day," Kiyomi warned, "If you do something that will ultimately destroy our nation."
"...I'm in your debt," Taisho declared, "If you decide I'm unfit to rule, do what you must."
Taisho doesn't shed tears as they bury his father, and he is made the new emperor without any objections. Katsuko asks him if he's alright, and...Taisho admits that he's terrified. He now has all this power, and he's afraid of who he'll become now that he has it. He doesn't want to be like his father. And Katsuko reminds him that he has the power to be whoever he wants to be. Taisho could have bent to his father's will, but never did so. That was more than enough proof that Taisho was better than him. Taisho is moved and downright asks Katsuko to marry her in that moment, if she doesn't hate him or what his father put her through. Katsuko laughs and says yes.
Now back to the main story. Soundwave knows about Katsuko's favoritism among the public, and decides she's the best way to get the army that he wants. So he kidnaps her, and forces Taisho's to give him an army or else she dies. Taisho's in a tight spot, the council and the public are in terror and disarray. Taisho can't let his wife die, but he now realizes that all the odd occurrences happening in other countries are happening because of Soundwave. Soundwave is the one causing them trouble. And Taisho makes a very calculated risk without knowing much about Soundwave. He tells Kiyomi and Kenshin to run and get help while he bent to Soundwave's command. Kiyomi understands the situation, but Kenshin is terrified and angry, lashing out at his father and calling him a coward!
"You're just going to let mom die?!" Kenshin demanded.
"I am buying my time!" Taisho declared in anger, "We don't have many options! That being has been dismantling governments in the shadows! If we are not careful, Hizuru is next!"
"Mom is our best chance at swaying the public-!"
"As long as she is in his clutches, I cannot take that risk and let her die!" Taisho yelled, "I am not going to lose your mother without a fight! You know that we are limited in options! You and Kiyomi getting help is our best chance at survival! So listen to your father for once and go with your aunt!"
"...Dad...I'm scared," Kenshin confessed, tears forming in his eyes.
Taisho felt his lips tremble before placing his hands on his son's cheeks. "My stubborn and prideful child, that is natural. This is not something we prepared for...In the event of my death and the death of the Empress, you will be crowned the next Emperor of Hizuru."
"Don't you fucking say that!" Kenshin yelled.
"You are the pride and the future of this nation," Taisho declared, "And I have never been more proud to call you my own."
Taisho wants to say that he's sorry for not being the best father and letting their relationship get so strained, but there's not enough time. Kiyomi and Kenshin need to go. Father and Son say their emotional goodbyes, and Taisho does his best to wipe his tears as Kiyomi and Kenshin flee to get help.
(More OC centric, but I've been meaning to talk about them.)

*banging pots and pans* TELL ME ABOUT YOUR OCS!!!
you don't have to twist my arm! my story is mostly focused on friendship and growing up through the lens of college athletics (my fake university and fake surrounding small town are characters in and of themselves)
the central storyline focuses on the baseball team, and several people on/around it. here are the ones you MUST know:
charlie: irish/italian guy from boston and it's obvious from everything about him. captain of the team, de facto dad. he is so so very tired and he acts like shepherding 35 guys is the biggest burden in the world but he would die for any of them and they all know it. he literally cannot turn off being the oldest brother no matter how hard he tries, and holds himself to unreal strict standards, whether that's in baseball, outside responsibility, his family or the numerous handyman projects he's taken on to keep his college house from falling apart. he's a right handed starting pitcher who still believes starters should throw 200 innings a year. he's also more in love with his girlfriend than any human being has been in love with anyone else ever.
ramón: he is both the most and least chill person you've ever met. lanky sidearm lefty pitcher who was born to be a bullpen personality and forced to start. he's loud and colorful and knows everybody. (those who don't know him know of him) he has the best hair on the team and is the designated dj. he does not seek out responsibility to the extent charlie does, but is a competent and respected alternate captain. functional disaster bi
tyler: first string catcher and the babiest boy in the world. i love him so much, he follows charlie around like a lost duckling and has been adopted as charlie's little brother/son. people know he's smart (mechanical engineer baby!!!) but don't realize the depth of his personality because he's pretty shy and it takes a while to get his sense of humor to shine through. he cannot grow a beard under any circumstances. only baseball player in history to be taller than his listed roster height. don't judge that he's from ohio, he couldn't help it.
jake: he's a center fielder and everyone knows it. shows off on the field but is very down to earth in every other aspect of his life. extremely suave and charismatic with a dazzling smile. probably the most involved in extracurriculars of anyone on the team, and should probably be president some day (dude you can't be athletic and smart and musical and handsome and a genuinely good guy. leave some for the rest of us). nigerian and has two moms<3 he was also the kid that took the bite out of the nerf football growing up sorry
sam: charlie's younger sister and captain of the women's hockey team in her own right. she's extremely fiery both on and off the ice, and can sometimes be a bit brash. when it comes down to it though, she's one of the most compartmentalized and action-oriented in an emergency. she grew up as the only girl with two competitive older brothers (ben is between charlie and sam) and the experience was absolutely formative. she takes everything as a challenge, and is more of a frat bro than many of the actual fraternity brothers at their university. all three siblings have adhd.
ellie: love of my life!! charlie's girlfriend and sam's best friend though it's hard not to love her, no matter who you are. she is definitely the even keel in the friend group - very patient and compassionate, and balances a lot of the different personality types at play. she's also the only non athlete, but is unequivocally an equal member of their dynamic. she once gave tyler a buzzcut (at his request) because she's the only one who could be trusted with the clippers. she's just very graceful and poised and the boys would be lost without her, charlie most of all. with that said, she has her own life and own priorities and is quite successful as editor of her college newspaper.
other notes:
charlie and ramón are the oldest, jake is a year below them, and tyler sam and ellie are all in the next year, one below jake and two below charlie and ramón
the four boys all live together in a house off campus (they have one more roommate but he's not as important to the story)
there is literally so much lore i am vibrating trying to cut more than 60 pages for charlie ALONE down to a paragraph. i didn't even get into my worldbuilding which is its own thing. i have brain worms i'm happy to share at any moment.
Thank you for asking! I'm glad my kids are getting out into the world

Pearl De Lustrous
Age: 125
Height: 6'3"
Race: Háohuá
Orientation: Gay
Occupation: Host Club Owner of club Petrichor
Bio:
The youngest of seven siblings, Pearl was born Meng Feldspar to his father Kee Feldspar, the CEO of an intersystem chain of banks for the rich and famous, and Illura Divicci, a famous model who worked with only the most prestigious brands. From the moment he was born, Pearl was unwanted. His birth was unplanned and, as such, he was seen as the unwanted and unnecessary youngest child. He was consistently neglected throughout his childhood, forgotten at school and frequently left to walk home, forgotten at home while everyone else went out to bask in the family's wealth, and so on. His achievements were never celebrated, even when he risked his own health to be the best of the best.
When Pearl realized his family would never laud him for his success, he decided infamy would be the next best thing in a bid for attention. He stole, he broke things, he committed vandalism and so on. Nothing worked. Even with Háohuá society being very blunt and emotionless, acts of feelings being seen as rash and base, no family member would even try to smile or pretend to care about him.
Everything came to a head when Pearl was arrested for arson. His father bailed him out and spoke to Pearl not as his son but as an equal man. He told Pearl that his desire to be accepted and loved by his family would bury him. Pearl realized that, no matter what he did, they'd never love him as he wanted or needed. His father gifted him his final allowance, a substantial chunk of money, and urged him to leave the planet behind forever. Pearl took his offer and advice and never looked back.
Now in his 50's, or as a young man by his species' standards, Pearl changed his name to his current title and put his nose to the grindstone. He moved to Guarde, a planet smaller than Earth that served as a hub to any and all walks of life. For 50 years, he took any job he could lay his hands on, toiling away to fund himself. Over the five decades, he accrued an impressively wide range of skills and experienced life like he never had before.
When he turned 100, Pearl found room in his success to finally do whatever his heart truly desired. He was attracted to the host club scene, loving to entertain while also lauding the idea of having a business where no one could disrespect him. He started off small, employing friends he'd made from his wide berth of previous careers. The club, affectionately named Petrichor, was slow to start and Pearl found himself still juggling other jobs to fund the business. Faster than expected, it started to gain popularity, mostly attributed to the allure of its owner. Pearl found pride in coming off as poised and sophisticated. Adept at conversation and serving, he found that when he trained his hosts to his own standards, the club's popularity only skyrocketed.
Now, Petrichor is the most premiere host club in the district. The venue boasts a lavish lounge with a stage for live music as well as a sultry second floor saved for guests seeking more sexual fulfillment. The club is rated the best place to work in its genre of establishment and has maintained that title for four consecutive years. Pearl still makes himself available and can be called upon as a host on either floor, still maintaining a deep love for the business beyond just owning it.
Like the rest of his race, Pearl comes off as rather cold and aloof though he tends to be a little outwardly kinder overall. He's very intelligent and hard working but also has a better understanding of being empathetic and compassionate. He sometimes cares a little too much what people think of him and tends to panic when he's not fully in control of a situation at any given time. His hobbies include embroidery, reading poetry, fine art, and fashion. He loves bitter vegetables and all varieties of meats and has a very adventurous palate. He dislikes sugary sweets and people with superiority complexes.

Characters MBTI types? Also this looks so good and I love the basis of the plot!!!
omg! first inbox! thanks for loving the plot, thanks for the support. it does mean a lot!! MBTIs have been super helpful with laying out character motivations and all that. gave me a great brainstorm.
The Characters and their MBTIs:
Hadrian Bowes:
MBTI - ESTP, which makes him a great guide. He’s flexible, and present. The worse part of being a guide is seeing you do what he couldn’t. Hadrian Bowes wasn’t dedicated enough to be fully wiped of the minds of those he loves most, his family and friends. But he still has you.
Mary Witherspoon:
MBTI- INFP, which means of course she’d be the Mailman to make herself the most personable. To speak up the most. To hold sway in the chambers of the Convent. Most Mailmen are still very wary, but if anyone could convince anyone.
Agustin Soarez:
MBTI- ESTJ, his assertiveness is actually quite normal for a guide, which can act as the mouth for a Mailman. Fully backing Mary’s cause of Mailman participation in the spread of information, of more humane standards of qualification, of possibly going back to the surface, and giving guides for on-the-job freedom, if Mary is an Idealist, Agustin is that made practical.
Diane:
MBTI- INFJ, hidden. Low key in every sense. Leading an anti-government labor force isn’t easy, isn’t something you can brag about. Their passion for people and problem solving is something to note. They can cast a cold eye though.
Governor Farrah:
MBTI- ESFP, most ranking members tend to have a thing for the dramatic, this is true. But Governor Farrah, only holding the mantle because his father had the mantle, has little patience for the trivialities of ruling a colony, especially not one on so barren a place as the Arago rings.
Maya De LaCruz:
MBTI- ENFJ, she’s a beloved member of the LBA, and a beloved person. She has become the example of what it means to be from the lower layers, compassionate, and extremely in-tune with people.

I so rarely see anyone talking about my boy Seerow, but he's my favorite, Do you have any thoughts?
hmm.
the thing that first comes to mind (other than "I named my kid 'Horny Hair' in Sindarin") is, honestly that I think he's a very sad story.
there's a lot of conversations in the books about how the Andalites are supposed to be apart from other species, they're supposed to be separate, they're expected to keep themselves to themselves, but like... in practice? that's not what happens, consistently. Aximili becomes fascinated with human food and human TV and human movies. Estrid goes wild for jelly beans and tries kissing in human morph of her own volition. Arbron goes Taxxon nothlit and joins the resistance as a servant of the Living Hive. Aldrea goes Hork-Bajir nothlit and marries Dak and has a son. Elfangor goes human nothlit and marries Loren and has a son. Menderash goes human nothlit to rescue Aximili and seems perfectly comfortable with being in the body of another species. T.O. Hareli is more than willing to be proven wrong in his stated belief that Andalites shouldn't work with other species because it won't end well.
And like - what does not ending well mean, by his metric? Is it that Andalites are better than everyone and are so superior that they don't believe in engaging with other species equitably, or is it that they cling to their ways of life and their belief that they're better off apart because their natural curiosity constantly runs the risk of getting the better of them? Is it that they blame themselves first and foremost, when anything goes wrong, even if it's not their fault?
Because they do blame themselves. They hold themselves responsible to a ridiculous degree with the Yeerks. They argue, time and time again, that they caused this, they did this, if they hadn't been kind, hadn't been inquisitive, hadn't been compassionate, this never would have happened. Elfangor blames himself for Alloran's infestation, and that too stems from compassion and his refusal to allow Alloran to massacre those Yeerks in stasis. It's almost as if the concept of Andalites as a philosophical ideal held by the People at large runs directly counter to how they actually are, and one must wonder why that is, and I think a lot of it probably comes from Seerow.
We don't see anything of how Andalite society was pre-Yeerk War. We have no way of knowing if Seerow was one in a million other compassionate, open-minded Princes on exciting exploration missions. We know that after Seerow, they don't share, they don't talk, they're distrustful, they're exclusionist, they're exceptionalist, and they've turned on him. (The fact that the Law of Seerow's Kindness is what bans them from sharing technology suggests to me that this is very new.) They've disgraced him, for doing what it seems is the natural thing for an Andalite to do - being optimistically curious. By turning on him they're turning on themselves, turning on their own natures. But even despite that they can't escape who they are - they don't solely blame the Yeerks for acting badly and choosing treachery and imperialism and betrayal, they blame Seerow for being too kind. They're so responsible and so conscious of their own flaws and, frankly, so neurotic that it's easier for them to heap all the blame on their own four shoulders than accept that the first strikes in the War weren't made by them.
And Seerow suffers for that, his family suffers for it, and by extension so does the rest of the galaxy, because he throws himself into this conception of being the Ideal Andalite who holds himself above more primitive races and in doing so he loses sight of the worth and value of the Hork-Bajir. Aldrea, ironically, is far more accurately Andalite in her behavior than her adult parents are - she mirrors everyone I mentioned above, and that number includes renowned war heroes popular with the Electorate. That, to me, suggests that Seerow's need to be perfect is a bit like Spock's need to be the best Vulcan possible - an unrealistic standard so far over anyone's head that they can't possibly reach it, borne out of the fact that one member of a society has troubles he can't have predicted in advance.

The Bane of Our Family: Father
Inspired by @tri3tri’s S/W au along with a submission from @scorpiris-sideralis
There will be more for me to say at the end of the story.
~
In the Valley of Thorns, lived a princess who was born with the blood of both humans and fae. The crown princess of the Valley, under the tutelage of her father, the king, and the brightest scholars of the kingdom grew up to be an intelligent and cunning princess who was skilled in controlling her fae magic and was brought up to be a great Queen.
However, she knew that there were notable issues within the castle, starting with her family. Her father, who treated her like a national treasure, was possessive over her sweet and loving mother. The reason for that was simple. She didn’t love Father, at least not in the way father wanted her too. And so, Mother was forced to marry her father at a young age, even though most of his advisors were against the idea of father marrying a magic-less human. That reason alone was why many of her father’s advisors would look at her with scorn and disdain, no matter what she accomplished.
She cared deeply about her mother and treasured the unconditional love that she gave her and her younger sister from infancy. That was why for her sake, she would ascend to the throne and find a way to help her mother return to her true home. The princess spent years planning every decision out, gaining the favor of young nobles, winning over some of the members of her father’s court, and earning the love of the public.
However it was all torn apart when her father announced that he would be marrying another woman, a lady of a noble pureblood fae family, in hopes of giving birth to a son, and once she did, that child would be the next heir. He had denounced her as his heir, all that work, everything she did, it was apparently for naught.
Then again she can’t be too surprised, her father’s advisors had been badgering him to take on a second wife of pure fae origin so he could have an heir of pureblood.
Pureblood.
That was something about the Princess she couldn’t change about herself. She could study every book in the royal library and become the kingdom’s most brilliant scholar, she could take up the way of the blade and become the greatest swordsman in the Valley, she could even practice her magic and refine it to perfection that rivals even her father’s, but she could never change her blood. It was something that was always mentioned among the advisors like it was a blatant flaw of hers. Like it made it her inferior to all of them, despite having the Witch of Thorns’ blood running through her veins.
It simply wasn’t right, Mother, human though she may be, was the queen of the Valley of Thorns, had the proper authority to act upon her whims and punish everyone if she wasn’t so compassionate. It was disrespectful to see the court and the servants look at her and her mother with contempt despite all they’ve done for the kingdom.
She had to listen to Sebek criticize her mother all the time, no matter how well she did her job as Queen because of her human origins. It was disrespectful for a fae who was no more than a guard to berate his queen for doing her duty. It was frustrating seeing her mother have no choice but to grow used to the hurtful comments around her no matter what she did and watching her father do nothing to prevent them.
When she confronted her father in his office, all he did was brush her off, like she was dust on his shoulder.
“Father I don’t understand why you would give in to your court’s whims.”
“This isn’t your business, I suggest that some of your studies be dropped as you are no longer heir.”
“But father, you would always say that you needn’t have to remarry because you would always have mother and my sister and me. Why did you suddenly change your mind now?”
“That is none of your concern, the Valley needs a proper heir and your mother simply hasn’t become pregnant in these past few years.”
“A proper heir? Have my actions not shown that I’m capable of being Queen? Or is it that… you’re ashamed of my human blood, ashamed of me and mother?”
His back grew rigid, “Daughter, I would watch your words in front of me.”
“I refuse, I need a proper answer from you father. Would you have preferred that mother was born fae? Did you not, when I was younger, say that you loved everything about mother, or was just that simply just a lie?”
“Young Lady…”
“I’m right, aren’t I? You don’t love mother, do you? You just think of her as a fun toy that you grew tired of don’t you? You certainly don’t care that she’s constantly harassed by the castle’s employees, from the court to Sebek even the maids go about berating her for her human blood. But I’ve never seen you once attempt to stop them.”
Her father’s ears were turning red from contempt and his eyes were glowering at her but she stood her ground.
“Or is that your plan? You stole her from her home, forced her into marriage, forced her to have your children only to abandon her in a way of breaking her down until she’s desperate for care and affection from you. Is this all just a part of your sick and twisted attempt of getting her to love you?”
*SLAP*
A red mark bloomed on the princess’s face, her father standing before her, hand raised. He had slapped her. She raised her hand to the mark on her face with wide eyes. In the past, she never would have believed that her doting father would even harm a hair on her head, let alone slap her across the face. It hurt, even though she knew what he put her mother through, he was still her father and she always wanted to appease him and make him proud.
“That’s enough out of you, it seems you’ve grown as insufferably stubborn as your mother. Silver. Sebek. Escort the princess back to her room.” His guards, who were waiting outside, entered his office.
Silver was the first to approach her, “Princess please follow me.” But she pulled herself away from him.
“I’m not leaving until I ask one last thing to my father, Silver.”
Malleus sighed before answering, “And pray tell would that be, daughter?”
She stood up straight and looked him straight in the eyes, “I know you father, I know that for years you’ve done all you can think of to get mother to love you, to have the family you desired. But I ask you if this is truly what you want to do. Do you truly mean to set Mother aside in favor of another and to have another on the throne?”
He faltered for a moment before standing straight and tall, towering over his daughter, “Yes, and nothing is going to change my decision.”
She should’ve known. Mother always did say that father lied often. Like how he lied that he loved mother with all his heart. Or how he promised that she would be able to lead the Valley of Thorns proudly as Queen one day.
She lowered her eyes in a moment of sadness before glaring up at him in a split second before returning to a neutral face, “If that is your will,” She curtsied, “I hope you’re happy with your decision because there’s no going back. May your reign be long and prosperous, Your Majesty.” She made a quick turn before leaving, head facing forward, hands to her waist and her back straight, an exit filled with formal grace.
On her way to her room, she began to get lost in her thought. Lilia was on his way to see his majesty when he spotted the young first princess walking almost aimlessly. So he called out to her.
“Princess.” Her attention was drawn to the voice calling out to her, she turned to face Lord Lilia, one of her father’s most trusted retainers.
“Lord Lilia, I give my greetings.”
Now, now, princess, you needn’t have to greet this old one,” Lilia waved off her formality.
“Even if you are as you say, an ‘old one’, you are father’s most trustworthy retainer and have served the royal family since the time of my great grandmother, her majesty, The Witch of Thorns. To understate your prestige would be nothing less than rude. But that aside, did you need something of me, Lord Lilia?”
“Why yes, I was wondering how you were doing. I heard you were a touch shaken up after your father announced he would be remarrying and removing your title as heir.”
“I suppose I was shaken up however this matter is something that father has the final say in alone. If he wishes for that woman’s future child to be the next ruler, I have no choice but to set aside any opposition. I just came back from my father’s office and was planning on returning to my room.”
“I see but your highness, you just passed your bedroom door though,” she turned her head back to see the door to her bedroom just a few feet behind her.
“Oh! I didn’t realize… I must have been lost in my thoughts to notice, who knows where I could have ended up. Thank you for notifying me, Lord Lilia.” She turned around to enter her bedroom before remembering something, “Actually Lord Lilia,” The old fae’s ears perked before turning to her, “ I was wondering if you were on your way to see father… I meant to give him some policy proposals regarding the dispute regarding the villages along our border but it must have slipped my mind.”
The old fae smiled, “Actually, I, as a matter of a fact, was indeed on my way to see his majesty, I can deliver it on my way princess.” She smiled before entering her room and coming out with a small stack of papers in hand.
“The first half of the pages consist of a set plan with can act towards for long term and my argument for the plan while the remaining half includes smaller short term solutions that should appease the residents for the time being along with the territory’s lord too.”
Lilia’s face was a tad surprised, though the princess was a young adult to human standards, she was like a baby when compared to the average lifespan of a fae, and yet she comes up with intuitive solutions that most conservative fae would never think of in centuries but then again, look at who her mother is. The first female student of NRC and the young lady who stopped overblot after overblot in her first year alone, “You know to be quite honest your highness, whether or not you become Queen, I’m genuinely curious about what you’ll do for this country.”
“I appreciate the sentiment Lord Lilia but I’m afraid I might not be able to do as much anymore with my title as heir taken from me,” A saddened smile, present on her face. It pained Lilia to see the bright princess he knew with dreams as high as the sky so diminished, “Right now, looking after my mother and sister are what matters to me right now. Now if you excuse I’ll just return to my room.”
“Of course your highness. I’ll be off then.” Lilia left the princess to her own devices before setting off to his original course towards his majesty’s office.
~
Meanwhile, the princess closed her door before sitting in front of her vanity mirror. “Whew that was too close, I almost got excited in front of Lilia. My whole plan would have been ruined if that had happened.” A smile creeping on her face, “Though I can help but wonder what kind of expression father will have on his face when he sees my policy proposal... regret, annoyance, sadness? Oh, the possibilities.”
Father’s decision will surely backfire on him. She knows her father, to her, it would only be a matter of time before Father realizes that he regrets his decision. Father would never give up on Mother so easily, and the look on his face. He barely showed it but he must not have been aware of how she was harassed by the servants.
No doubt he’ll investigate it further and when he does, he’ll find out the mastermind in no time. After all, if she could do it in less than a week with few resources then he should figure it out in a few days at most. He’ll realize just how untrustworthy the court is and eventually, father will have to admit his mistake and reappoint her.
But until then...Let’s have Father suffer just for a little bit.
She looked at the small frame image of her mother and younger sister, ‘Perhaps I should arrange a tea party for mother and sister in the meantime. I can’t wait to tell them what I have planned.’ Her eyes begin to glow brightly.
The princess looked back at her reflection in her mirror, her green eyes, long black hair, and prominent horns made her a near spitting image of her father. If it weren’t for her facial structure, you wouldn’t see any of the queen’s genetics at all. ‘Oh, I’m sure mother will be excited to have father be away from her after so long. She has been going on about how she just wants some alone time.'
She thinks about how her father’s future second wife. From what she’s heard, the future second queen is a bit of an attention hog so she’ll surely demand father all of his free time. She wonders how long it’ll take before the court realizes their blunder about how the second queen is hardly active anyway outside of gossip tea parties and luxurious ballrooms. Meanwhile, her mother was never one who enjoyed being lavished in luxuries, much to her father’s dismay and worked hard in aiding this nation as a competent figure.
The princess couldn’t wait for the look of frustration on father’s and his retainers’ faces when dealing with this spoiled noble lady and how that woman will look whence realizes that she won’t be getting her happily ever after. Oh, the performance she’ll be able to watch alongside her sister and mother.
“How amusing this show will be...”
~ For Malleus and MC’s eldest daughter, I portrayed her as a cunning woman who cares about her mother deeply and will do what she can to ensure her mother’s happiness. Even if that means making her father miserable in the process.
Also I’m making a part 2 for this as well so expect that to coming soon.

some bella x emma (bemma) headcanons under the cut:
the first time they meet is in the moon pool after emma returns from her travels. bella was meeting the girls there to help with the repair effort, while emma was hoping to surprise the girls there the moment she got home. despite having only spoken the once on a skype call with dodgy signal, they recognise each other instantly. they have a 'you must be bella!' / 'you must be emma!' moment and an instant connection. the girls had given emma the bare bones of the comet eva story, but bella is the one who has to explain the full extent of the damage to the moon pool before cleo and rikki get there
lewis runs into emma and her family in the US on their travels while studying. it occurs to him at that moment that emma and bella are kindred spirits who would get on really well, and he tells her so. emma never would have guessed just how much she would grow to like bella
emma feels a little lost when she returns home with everything that's changed and all she missed out on, not to mention guilty for not being around. emma feels like cleo and rikki don't really need her anymore with bella around. conversely bella feels insecure about her place in the group when emma is welcomed back with open arms, the girls sporting their lockets again. bella feels like cleo and rikki don't need her anymore now that emma is back. they confide their fears to one another one day trying to fix the moon pool and reassure each other about their places in cleo and rikki's lives i cannot stress enough how little this ends in pointless girl rivalry
with cleo soon to study marine biology at university and rikki planning to take classes at a local college, emma feels a little lost upon returning home. she had managed to graduate high school while travelling, because of course she did, but doesn't feel college is for her right now and wants to travel some more. bella also feels lost with will away on an extended holiday with his sister and the band's imminent break-up when summer ends. they both decide to go travelling together at the end of the summer, bella insisting on emma seeing the irish sea caves, while emma knows of this gorgeous romantic little patisserie in paris she's dying to take her to
somewhere between fixing the moon pool, planning their trip, and hanging out with the others at the café, they start to catch feelings for one another. they probably start to fall at around the same time but i think bella realises her feelings first (she has known she's liked girls for a long time, whereas emma still isn't really all that comfy with the concept of fancying girls). i'm inclined to say cleo, rikki, and even lewis know that emma fancies bella before emma herself knows. bella is scared to cause a potential rift in the group but slowly starts to insert 'she' pronouns into the band's songs and even has the nerve to be a little more touchy-feely with emma than the others. emma is the stereotypical clueless sapphic who has no idea that bella is flirting with her, even after she realises she herself likes her. eventually rikki uses one of the thousand favours zane owes her to lock them in the café's storeroom and force them to admit their feelings for one another
when they start dating emma freaks out about coming out to her parents. the others reassure her that coming out may not be necessary, but emma has such a hard time lying to her parents and even told them about her tail before they went travelling. bella assures her that, if they're okay with their daughter being a mermaid, they should be okay with her being gay, promising to be as involved as emma wants. in the end the coming out is out of her hands: elliot catches a vibe between emma and bella and essentially tells their parents to stage a family meeting to show her they love and support her no matter who she dates. the meeting itself is long and filled with happy tears and lots of hugs. they are completely accepting of her sexuality and basically treat bella like another member of the family. elliot starts a gsa at school and the whole family go to pride events together every june. bella, not close with nor out to her parents, is overwhelmingly grateful and jokes about taking emma's last name when they get married
emma and bella are quite different on the surface, but ultimately bring out the best in one another. bella is the zen member of the group and gets super into yoga and meditation. she helps emma deal with her anxiety and lets her know that it's okay to just be, that she doesn't have to perform to high standards of perfectionism all the time. emma is for sure the extrovert of the relationship and helps to bring bella out of her shell when she wants to retreat into shyness, allowing her confidence and assertiveness to flourish. when emma is quick to anger, bella calms. when bella doubts her worth, emma reminds her just how valuable she is. they are both deeply warm, empathetic, and compassionate people who are loyal to a fault, and these traits only grow the longer they are together
rikki likes to take credit for their entire relationship for the stunt at the storeroom, while lewis is certain he is responsible since he told emma that she would like bella. cleo claims that, if she never got into zane's zodiac all those years ago they never would have become mermaids together, therefore she should be credited for emma and bella's entire relationship. chaos ensues
during their extended world tour, they find half a dozen other moon pools and meet ten or fifteen other mermaids. with consent they send their details on to the others back home in the hopes of gaining further understanding around magic and mermaids
bella uses her gifts to make emma lots and lots of jewellery. in the early stages of their relationship she can be found proudly wearing a dozen or so different bracelets, necklaces, and anklets at any given time. for their first anniversary bella makes her a rose made of crystal from the water in the moon pool
emma doesn't have the same sense of creativity as bella, but years of taking elliot to oboe practice, reading music theory for fun, and even her grasp of english grammar conventions helps her to help bella write songs. if bella is stuck on a particular line or needs a second pair of ears, emma is the first person she goes to with her problem. when the record deals start flooding in, emma also helps to decode the legal jargon and acts as her manager until a more permanent replacement can be found
bella is lowkey obsessed with emma's mum's extensive crystal ware collection. she likes to make one-of-a-kind, totally unique crystal sculptures for her using her powers. it takes mrs. gilbert a little while to make the connection
when emma starts to study medicine and bella goes on tour, they have to do long distance for a little while. long distance with a mermaid's tail isn't quite so bad, though, as they frequently meet in the middle of the ocean to spend time together between more land-oriented visits
both emma and bella are deeply connected to the environment. when emma is a little older with an established medical practice she uses her money and connections to campaign for environmental protections. when bella gains success as an artist she, too, uses her platform to promote environmental awareness, LGBT rights, women's rights, and a whole host of other issues
they propose to each other at the same time, out for dinner near the marina. right as bella presents emma with the diamond ring elliot helped her pick out, a clumsy waiter spills a jug of water, and bella has to leg it to the water so as not to expose the secret. emma finds her crestfallen at the moon pool and quickly surfaces to console her, revealing the moonstone ring she’s had hidden behind the rocks for weeks. suffice to say, they said yes
despite her best efforts, emma never really got over having to abandon her swimming aspirations due to her tail. similarly a part of bella always mourned the childhood she never got to have since she became a mermaid, nor any chance of a relationship with her family. in the end they are both able to make peace with their fate: it brought them to each other
(bonus: shameless self plug of my bella x emma oneshot aka the only bemma fic in existence. god bless)

Hi, what do you say to the people who claim Regulus is the real Slytherin hero, and not Snape? To me RAB always seemed like a plot device and nothing more so I don't get why he's being worshipped... He's just another rich pureblood kid...
I say this is a very bad take, and it is disrespectful (that's a strong word for something that isn't really important but I cannot think of a softer version) of the actual people who enjoy his character. I'm going to write down some thoughts, but there's more to it than just what I would reply to them - allow me to ramble a little on the roots of this claim and on the thought process embraced by Snaters and Marauders apologists (I've seen that some people don't like this term, so I mean people who erase the Marauders' flaws and make them morally superior to Snape, justifying them being abusers and him being abused.)
The nonsense of comparing a plot device to a complex, layered character: Comparing Severus and Regulus is ludicrous. You are comparing one of the most (I would argue the most well-written and complex, but Dumbledore is quite something as well) well-written, accomplished character of the books to a plot device. It is indeed what Regulus is, no matter if his character could have been really interesting/seems to be interesting: we know very little of him, and he exists solely for the Slytherin locket plot. The very little we know of him certainly isn't enough to express any critical judgment of his character; he is mostly made out of white pages which are filled out by his fans, which is great, and by the people making this kind of argument, which is unfortunate.
The interest in the character only stems in his usefulness: I would argue that the vast majority of people making this claim do not care at all for the character himself, despite using him as a moral high ground. It is not his character which interests them, but how useful he can be to fuel their hate and biased claims. His personality? Having being sorted in Slytherin. His merits? Being a Slytherin. This is the only fact that matters, because it allows them to 'prove' that Snape wasn't a hero (being a hero does not mean being a good person, by the way) and diminishes Severus' merits. Using a character solely for the purpose of depreciating, downgrading another is not appreciating them: it's just completely hypocritical. This is often the kind of flat argument used by people opposed to social justice movements, if you will allow the broad comparison: using something you have never cared for before (often minority populations) in an attempt to depreciate something, even though the very fact you are using them for this purpose shows how little concerned you are with the actual people you are talking about. Well, it reminds me of this a bit. The true purpose is to try and impose your own views, and here they try to legitimise them by filling an almost inexistent character with their views to carry on with their agenda.
The sudden leniency toward privileged characters: Making such a claim in fact once again proves that Snaters have an extremely biased, subjective and elitist vision of what being good means, an opinion on what is moral integrity (and superiority because they keep comparing people), which they also apply to James and Sirius. I think Regulus is loved because he is a Black, respected by the fandom because he comes from a pureblood, rich family. It is very easy to prove: look at how much love Draco and Lucius get, despite being supporters of blood supremacy, active members of a terrorist group, using discriminatory insults on a daily basis, being actively supportive of the murders of muggle borns/participating in these murders [do not misinterpret this - I'm pointing out double standards, not saying they should not be loved. One's interest in a character does not depend on the character's morals]. Look at how respected Snape was in the fandom before book 6, when people thought he was a rich pureblood from an ancient family. Social hierarchy has a great impact on how people view characters, and they tend to be much more lenient toward privileged characters, because prestige is attractive, even in fiction. Similarly - but it is more concealed - there is the usual refusal to acknowledge that social inequalities do impact one's life, choices, and opportunities to be or do good. The quote "You didn't make good choices! You had good choices" (Little Fires Everywhere) works quite well in this context, especially regarding James and Severus, but also regarding the Blacks versus Severus. Severus' survival was completely, utterly dependent on his adherence to blood supremacist values. This must be taken into account - but weirdly, this is an argument that is often used to prove Sirius' moral superiority, because his family required him to share their beliefs. This is ignoring that despite his difficulties, he still beneficiated from a support system and privileges that others did not have access to. Similarly, you cannot compare Regulus' and Severus' choices. And in my opinion, both are tragic; but if we had to take part in Snaters' silly arguments, then I would remind them that Regulus effectively had no obligation to join Voldemort, his parents were not death eaters. The pressure both characters experienced certainly wasn't of the same nature - even perhaps not of the same intensity. But does comparing them makes any sense, again...
The social biases: While Snape is blamed for his decision to join the death Eaters (rightly), Regulus is praised for his decision to leave them. While Regulus is pitied because he came from a family who brought him up with this ideology (just like Draco is), which apparently takes off all responsibility from him, Severus' background is never considered as a factor which pushed him right into extremists' opened arms. Regulus' privilege is used as an excuse; Snape's social disadvantage and familial issues are, at best, ignored, at worst, interpreted as proof of his inherently bad nature. Some people associate his upbringing with him being bad, whether they want to acknowledge it or not. While Regulus is headcanonned as handsome, Snape is constantly described as 'greasy' and 'ugly' by these same people, and you can see exactly how important appearances are to them. I'm even going to argue that worshipping a rich, handsome, privileged pureblood must sound better to them than being fond of the 'greasy git', and I am also saying these are mostly internalised biases. When you read these claims carefully, it sounds like in the mind of these people, Regulus is more legitimate as Slytherin's hero because he is better - inherently. And it is easy to see why.
The double-standards and their disturbing roots: This is also plainly ignoring the fact that Regulus and Snape defected for the same reasons, if we must make comparisons. Voldemort was targeting one of their loved ones, Kreatur for the former and Lily for the later, which made them realise, because they are humans and thus not selfless, how wrong his methods were when they turned against them. However, in Snape's case, turning against Voldemort in an attempt to save Lily is often held as proof of his selfishness/absence of morality: he wanted her for himself, he only deflected because someone he liked was in danger. In Regulus' case however, his gesture is seen as heroic and compassionate. Why? Well, there are a variety of reasons apart from Snaters' double standards, but I have noticed that most of them seem to think of Lily as 'belonging' to either James or Snape, and think Snape unworthy of having ever had Lily as a friend because of some kind of deep rooted flaws he had even as a child ('He tried to hurt Petunia with accidental magic when he was 11, he was always bad'. In fact I should make a post about how horrible this claim is.) In Regulus' case however, wanting to save Kreatur is seen as an act of compassion. Why? Not only because they want to make Regulus look better than Snape. I think it is also because Kreatur is a house-elf, an inferior being: Regulus' wish to protect him becomes praiseworthy, laudable, because house-elves do not really deserve consideration. So wanting to save him becomes an act of generosity. Even when you're not thinking of the double standards, this way of thinking is disturbing. Snape also turned against Voldemort at the age of 20, 21? Like Regulus did if I recall? They weren't death Eaters for very long. They both actively fought to bring Voldemort down. It would be tremendously hypocritical, wrong and plain bad faith to think of Regulus' action as superior to Snape's 20 years of hard work to bring Voldemort down.
So why can't Snape be a hero? I think this claim is a confession. To me it shows a very simplistic vision of heroism, of good and bad, of models, and a complete refusal to consider the grey, sometimes praise the grey- it's a failure to accept the complexity of the human functioning. Thinking that the people we praise for certain actions, or consider to be examples must be flawless is vain, simply because it is unrealistic, and we could not admire them/relate to them/like or dislike them/learn from them if they were not like us, layered and flawed - but this is exactly what this claim desperately wants us to believe. Or rather, what Snaters want to believe, while imposing their very biased views of good and bad, themselves rooted in prejudices. This is why they are using a character that is mostly inexistent: an empty, one dimensional character can fulfil this aim. This is also why so many people fail to appreciate characters such as James, Sirius and Remus without completely ripping off their flaws, and thus complexness - they cannot be loved if you can find fault in them.

The chakra’s and Tmnt
It’s been my personal headcanon for a while now that each current member of the Hamato clan represents one of the seven chakras, and from what I’ve researched of the chakras and their colors and meaning, they do seem to coincide at least to some extent.
First off is Muladhara, the root chakra with the color red, and it is associated with Raphael. The root chakra is located in the perineum and is associated with instinctual tendencies of survival. It encourages honor and loyalty to the family pack, and it’s the source of the fight or flight response. The root chakra is associated with the physical body, namely muscles. The root chakra helps us feel grounded and when it is unbalanced it can lead to rage, frustration, and resentment. A balanced chakra, however, allows the energy to flow freely and helps up prioritize, think clearly, and harness courage. Most incarnations of Raphael seem to have an unstable chakra, leading to the constant anger and frustration, while Rise and 2003 Raphael seem to have balanced chakra. Wether they have stable or unstable chakras, all Raphael’s share the same sense of loyalty to their families and instinctual tendencies, normally a fight response to anything that threatens them. Each reincarnation also has a similar courage and are usually the strongest brother, hence the muscle association.
For Michelangelo it’s the sacral chakra; the orange chakra located on the sacrum. Swadhisthana is associated with emotional responses, sensuality, and creativity. It’s energy is flowing and flexible, and directed by the principle of pleasure. It’s associated with relationships and fantasies, and the realm of emotions. This connects with every Mikey to some extent, and most seem to have no issue expressing it, even after several punishments associated with it. Mikey’s just love to love, and they are usually the emotional ones along with Donatello’s. They’re creative, though a lot of the times their work isn’t up to their namesake, they still love to do it and have fun. All Mikey’s share a love for parties where they can express themselves openly among the people, and even though the extremeness of their chakra fluctuates between worlds, they all show off their energy and creativity gladly.
Next is the solar plexus chakra; the Yellow chakra. Though the color yellow is more closely associated to April, it is actually Casey who embodies manipura. Located just above the naval, it is the center of self-esteem, willpower, and transformation. This chakra embodies confidence and is the cause of gut-instinct and personal power. When it’s overactive, this chakra can cause aggressiveness, arrogance, and over-confidence. This connects to most every reincarnation of Casey Jones, as they often feature Casey as an enemy to the turtles before he ‘transforms’ and becomes a friend. He is arrogant and hard-headed just like Raphael, and his confidence knows no bounds. He is cocky, has a strong sense of self-power, and follows his gut more than anything else.
Next Is the heart chakra, the green chakra associated with April O’Neil. Anahata is the color of love and fills people with the inspiration to be kind and compassionate. It’s energies are highly soothing and calming, and allows you to radiate love to all those around you. The color green allows you to be sociable and build strong friendships, as well as set healthy boundaries. The chakra reminds you to stay friendly, empathetic, and altruistic. This connects with most reincarnations of April and her friendship with the turtles and Casey. She’s often a soothing and compassionate energy to balance out the turtles and keep them calm and secure, and she radiates love and empathy to those around her. 2012 April was a literal empath, actually. The only April that seems to stray from this pattern is Rise April, who still embodied some of these trss as its, except less apparent.
Next up is the throat chakra; the blue chakra associated with Leonardo. Also known as vishuddha, it is connected to authentic self-expression and helps communicate out thoughts, feelings, and intentions clearly and accurately. The throat chakra allows an awareness of your personal power, and knowing that no one outside of you can make your choices. It helps you understand the power of faith and it heals, empowers, and forgives. The chakra resonates with confession and forgiveness. People with strong throat chakras like to speak and sing Leo is best singer let’s not lie. Throat chakras have an obligation to Appear Good and dutiful, and an unbalanced throat chakra can lead to arrogance, self-righteousness, and an inability to listen to others. It seems to be 50/50 between Leo’s having a balanced or unbalanced chakra, the unbalanced version prevalent in Bayverse and 2012 mostly, while many of the other versions seem more balanced and willing to listen to their brothers. They have an obsession with appearing good and dutiful to Splinter and to prove their worth to their brothers. They often have clear intentions, voicing plans and orders to their clan, and they are one of the more self-aware of the brothers.
The third eye chakra belongs to Splinter. It’s color is indigo and connects to mental abilities, psychological skills, and our beliefs. It is house to wisdom, facts, fears, memory, and truth. It’s a symbolism of squired wisdom, detachment from social standards, and witnessing your freedom beyond illusion. This one is more loosely attached to Splinter than the other chakras are to their character, but it still holds true for most reincarnation of Splinter.
Last is the Crown chakra; Donatello. The violet chakra, also known as Sahasrara. It’s located at the top of the head. Associated with the brain and skull he do have a big head tho, this chakra radiates health, radiant energy, while allowing you to enjoy a sharp mind. It signifies open-mindedness and deep thinking, and will make you love reading, studying, and learning. The biggest challenge is becoming too attached to materialistic things, and people with a strong Sahasrara tend to overindulge themselves with these items. This chakra denotes that you are sensitive, perceptive, and intuitive. On a spiritual level, it shows that You give without praise or recognition. Most, of not all, reincarnations of Donatello show these traits. Lack of their knowledge and brilliance receiving recognition (Bay Leo immediately shutting down Donnie’s retromutagen, rise Donnie going mental with even the slightest bit of praise, and I’m sure there’s many more); being sensitive is far more prominent in 2003 Donnie than the others, but each Donnie has shown some type of sensitivity (except maybe 2012 Donnie? Can’t remember). Perception and intuition are telltale Donnie traits, as well as a love for learning, and becoming too attached to their machines and tools has been shown with every reincarnation as well.

live to serve
She sits, straight backed in the pews, next to a grieving mother. Her work is not done.
They could not save her son. By the time he’d arrived in the infirmary, no healing, be it magical or medical could bring him back from the jaws of death. It still felt like a personal failing. She hadn’t been enough to prevent tragedy from striking, like a bolt of wrath from the heavens. Mercedes had kept vigil by the young man’s bedside in the infirmary. She held his hand, wiped the sweat from his brows and committed herself to making passing on as painless as possible.
That night she prayed to Sothis, begging for forgiveness for her own inadequacies. Beseeched the Goddess to welcome his soul with open arms. May her light and love guide you into eternity.
There was yet more to do. Rites to be performed, ritual cleansing of the body. Prayers, led by a member of the church. Flowers and incense to be gathered - a funeral to be held. Mercedes thinks to herself that this is for the benefit of those left behind, to comfort them in such trying times. The Goddess’ love was for all, even those left behind. After all, such rituals were not practical in times of warfare or plague. Whilst such occasions must cause the Goddess to weep, Mercedes is sure that her heart remains open and loving towards all her children.
As a bishop in training, it should not have surprised her when she was asked to take the lead. The burden was hers to bear, although she tried her hardest not to think of it as such. She was not the one bereaved, the least she could offer his family was this.
She prays they do not notice her stutter over the prayers she recites. Her time to weep will come later, for the time being she must be a pillar of strength for those left behind in their grief. Grief so palpable it engulfs everything around. The world outside seems dimmer, darker, quieter. The pressure builds, crushing her chest until she cannot breathe without feeling the light being choked out of her.
Mercedes remains strong. She has no other choice.
She stands in the pulpit, reading scripture and finds herself hating how impersonal it is. Yet the truth is, she does not know the recently deceased or his family well enough to suggest anything else. To deviate from the standard hymn sheet provided by the Church of Seiros. Until the very end.
Mercedes picks out a prayer, one to exalt the living rather than mourn their departure. Her mentor, an elderly bishop raises his eyebrows. The man’s mother however, let’s her sobs subside for a moment. She fixes a watery smile upon Mercedes, that makes her feel like she’s finally done something commendable.
The elderly bishop nods in approval at this. She ignores it. Does not care if he scorns her for her choices. Healing wounds is simple, something she mastered long ago. Helping hearts heal is far harder but it’s just as important. It’s her life’s work, her vocation.
They bury the body within the monastery grounds. Holy ground, his mother says whilst she makes her way through her rosary. If it brings her comfort, some respite from spiny and volatile grief, Mercedes is happy to oblige.
When everyone else has left for the wake, the rest of his family have gone to drown their sorrows and the other members of the church have retired for the day, Mercedes takes a seat in the pews. Right next to his mother, who still weeps and begs and prays. Even curses at the world, the skies and the Goddess for taking her beloved son before herself. Mercedes offers nothing but a steady hand and warm heart. She trusts Sothis is forgiving and compassionate. That her heart bleeds just as Mercedes’ does for this woman. How anyone’s would, and perhaps that is why the others fled, to save themselves from the pain. Mercedes may understand but it’s her duty to remain. Her work will never be done.
Ever. There will always be someone who needs the light of her healing magic. Someone in need of unconditional love and respect. People who need guidance. Mercedes will always walk with them, hand in hand. No matter how painful the road becomes, this is what she chose for herself.
Her life is devoted not just to the Goddess, Sothis, but to all of her people. There will be always someone to help, someone she can be of service to.
Mercedes smiles quietly and decides to welcome it with open arms.
