The need for everyone to make a statement about whatever current event is exhausting.

I just don't care what x celeb, politician, or institution has to say in a public statement about much of anything TBH. Why? Because it really doesn't mean anything unless said entity actually has stakes in the current event and is genuine and articulate. And even then I think most are just oversharing anyways. Why open yourself up to the scrutiny? Not only that what are most of these statements actually accomplishing besides virtue signaling and clout chasing?

If you are supposed to be an ally or advocate I need to see you actually doing something in your daily life to back it up, not a fucking tweet. If you are deeply mourning the loss of someone did you do anything to send condolences privately to those impacted or did you just post an Instagram pic?

I guess I'm just really tired of people doing this shit and people demanding statements of solidarity or sympathy from people that may not give a shit, are indifferent, or superficially invested, just so they can be picked apart and assigned "good" or "bad" based on a sound byte that may or may not actually represent them as a person. People can say anything, but what they gonna do?

I will never forget the post George Floyd empty outrage and statements that didn't amount to much. What are all those allies doing now? I also hate the cop out of "raising awareness". What has this "raised awareness" inspired in your average person? Has the situation improved? Mostly all I see is a hot talking point popularized until the next IT topic. If I see one more apartment window with a BLM flag in a gentrified neighborhood and the resident doesn't even take the time to talk to black people or acknowledge them... I don't even know but I am cringing.

Maybe I'm cynical. I could care less if my friends, family, job, place of worship, grocery store, hair salon, city government, celeb, whoever the fuck makes a statement. And this is why I personally don't make statements about a lot of things unless you can look to my life and see those beliefs mirrored in the day to day.

Everyone is thinking its Joe and Sophie. That Sophie signed some sort of prenup/NDA and now she's a bit screwed. Which does explain a bit more of Joe's words at the last concert (refer to this) I hope that we're all wrong and this blind is wrong. I'd hate for her, or any woman, to have to adhere to this shit if the man doesn't have to.

Why are we still platforming these people?

As a child, I spent a lot of time on YouTube, as did most people my age. One of the content creators on there (Miranda Sings) at the time really court my attention. I enjoyed watching her funny skits and not even thinking twice about the sexual innuendos Colleen would make as her online persona.

Some would argue that 'it's just a persona, it's not actually her'. I disagree. You can call it whatever you like, cancel culture, snowflakes being dramatic once again, but think of it through the eyes of a child. An innocent little child who watches those videos, laughing and having fun, only to later grow up and see just how fucked up it actually was.

Colleen (NOT Miranda) was even in a group chat where unusual comments were being made to (at the time) minors. UNDERAGE CHILDREN.

Now I'm not going to throw around words simply to hurt Colleen. Frankly if we're being honest with ourselves, she couldn't give a fuck. She has millions of dollars stacked up from her time online. I just wish she's take a step back and accept responsibility.

Whether or not she's grown and changed, being a mother to three wonderful children should have made her at least rethink her decisions, and delete the videos. But as of now it hasn't.

As a child of abuse myself, it not only disturbs but disappoints me. Some of the jokes she made happened physically to me. This isn't just 'dark humor' this is mocking and degrading to young children who face the same abuse and torment I did, and they'll grow up thinking throwing around jokes at their expense is normal. And that's wrong.

I'm not into the whole 'cancel culture', but I do believe that people need to take accountability for their actions. This isn't just Colleen, Creatures like Shane Dawson are back online after making a half assed apology.

We need to do better to protect the children. To let them know their experiences aren't funny and they aren't some stupid joke.

I apologise if you don't agree with me, this is just my own personal opinion.
