A Silent, Tranquil End

She sits on the far side of the chamber, slumped on the floor, as if they had just fallen asleep. The decay has not made its way to her chamber yet, but it is close, and much of their structure has already been taken.

There is nothing else that can be done.

A violet overseer watches as a strange creature crawls up to their puppet.

"Oh… creature… why come here?"

The creature curls down, revealing a pearl embedded in its shell. A shimmering royal purple.

"For… me? Read? Will… look."

"I see. Says…"

"I… I am sorry, Idyllic Field. My… name? You know… my name?"

"You do… do not have long. Yes. I know."

"Forgive me, my love… Forgive me. I do not forget you, and I will not… until the end… of time. For what… why?"

"Remember that I… love you. Entangled… in Promises."

"Oh… you… Really? My… my dearest… here? With me? Oh… thank you."

They weakly lift an arm to its face, a shaky, quiet laugh escaping her – it is a warped, nearly unrecognizable sound, but a warmth persists in it. The last trace of love.

The overseer pulls back, and vanishes. He can't bear to watch this.

Like a mother cradling her child, the creature wraps the puppet in its limbs, settling around her body, careful to keep one particular limb against the side of their spine. Precisely where it needs to be.

It embraces them, indulging her confused joy as the iterator laughs and stutters in indecipherable tones. For a moment, they are comforted, happy even, her few memories brought back one final time.

A stab, a flash, and a digital scream.

Then, complete silence.

The creature slinks off the limp puppet, dark blood seeping from the puncture in her lower back. There is no need for comfort now; efficiency is the first priority. It steps backward, towering over the unconscious doll, holding out a sharp, metallic appendage like a scythe.

It raises the blade.

Without a hint of hesitation, it brings it back down, the precision of a surgeon and the elegance of a dancer in its strike.

Her umbilical is severed, cables cut, arm sliced cleanly where it meets the puppet. They scarcely even bleed or spark, so perfectly was the cut made.

The deed is done.

There is nothing left to do.

The creature curls up at the side of the lifeless iterator, emitting a half-mechanical purr.

im hoping to finish true blood tomorrow (got 3 and a half eps left) and my main takeaway from watching past where i stopped is: i stopped watching at exactly the right point lol

id watched the first few eps of season 5; just enough to know that tara got turned and steve newlin got a boyfriend and that lilith existed as a weird vampire god

but by season 5 they seem to have forgotten that the series (book/tv) is a vampire /romance/ /mystery/. stops being romantic and stops being a mystery show and it really suffers for it

the authority is more interesting off screen and billith isnt evil enough to be fun, and the...vampire concentration camps are weird. season 7 is mostly a weird vampire AIDS/zombie thing and killing off as many characters as they can

there are a few moments from s5/6/7 that have been fun but mostly rn i am watching just to finish it

~urban haze~ reshade preset!

I've been using this preset on my twitch for a bit now, and i've finally gotten around to releasing it!! I'm very happy with it and I currently use it for everything😅

Urban haze has a focus on realistic lighting with a slight hazy and warm feel. Less blue in shadows, darker nights, deeper afternoon shadows, saturated sunsets, balanced greenery. Use it in any world, I've tested them all :)

How to download:

♥ Download Reshade: (I use reshade 5.7.0, I can't say how this preset will behave with other versions of reshade, or G-shade.)

♥ During Reshade Installation, select The Sims 4, choose DirectX9 as the rendering API.

♥ Effect Packages to install: standard effects, sweetFX by CeeJay, qUINT by Marty McFly, color effects by prod80, and Legacy effects.

♥ Download urban haze below, drop it in your Sims 4 installation's "Bin" Folder

♥ Open the Sims 4, Disable edge-smoothing in your graphics settings if it's not already, In the reshade menu, set RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_REVERSED= to 0 in global preprocessor definitions if it's not, and MXAO_TWO_LAYER= and MXAO_SMOOTHNORMALS= both to 1 in qUINT_mxao's preprocessor's definitions.

♥ If you're struggling with installation, I suggest you check out @kindlespice's installation tutorial! It was made for reshade 4.9.0 but the instructions remain the same.

Notes:

♥ Both Depth of field shaders are off by default, you can enable them using their shortcuts: ctrl + Q (MagicDOF), ctrl + W (MartyMcFlyDOF) or enable them manually.

♥ MXAO.fx also has a shortcut (ctrl + R) bc sometimes the DOF blur makes the shadows weird, most of the time it's fine!

♥ Could potentially be gameplay friendly, depending on your GPU! The MXAO and DOF shaders will be the most performance heavy, feel free to adjust to your liking.

♥ The pictures above were taken with this preset and no further editing, but I do use a few lighting mods that will affect how my game looks:

so recently i noticed that i was gaining candles. quiiite a bit slower than before. i thought it mightve been a fluke, a friend theorized that maybe it was connected with days of fortune and how some spirits offered wax... today i got curious and checked the wiki as to the amounts (as dof ended and it took me longer than before to forge the first candle (i used to get almost a full candle from all at home + prairie lobby + butterfly fields))

here are the old amounts:

and here are the new ones:

this... fucks over everyone who stops a candle run before hitting grey; while technically, the amounts needed to forge candles on 1 and 0 chevrons are less, in cumulative total the same amount of wax only starts amounting to the same amount of candles at 20.

and like. is it just me, or did tgc say nothing about this.

✨New item!✨ Dread Carapace  Armor (plate or half plate), rare

This full suit of armor is fashioned from the shell of a mighty crab. While wearing this armor, you have a swimming speed of 20 feet and you have advantage on checks and saving throws to resist being moved against your will. Additionally, this armor doesn't impose disadvantage on your Dexterity (Stealth) checks while you are underwater.

Donning this armor adheres it to your skin, becoming a chitinous exoskeleton. You gain the full benefits of a long rest while sleeping in this armor. This armor can only be doffed with an action if you are submerged in boiling water.

Amplified. This armor is a piece of the Crab Lord set. The carapace gains the following attributes while used with other Crab Lord set pieces:

You have a +1 bonus to AC and your swimming speed is now equal to your walking speed while wearing this armor, if you are also wearing the Chitinous Crown.

If you are grappled by a Large or smaller creature while you are also wearing the Dread Pincer, your speed is reduced to 10 instead of 0, and you take the grappler with you when you move.
