The Lost Boys The Promise
Chapter One
Moving to Santa Carla, California, had been too stressful for Mom. Following the curtails of her divorce, where Dad took everything, Mom had to uproot us back to her old home. Dad didn't want us; he had shouted when the divorce papers had been served. He didn't want to have to deal with a crazy, ill daughter or a son who read comics all day long. I remember feeling as if my heart had just stopped beating after being stabbed with a knife.
My dad had some choice words for my mother, too. By the time my father had read through the divorce paperwork, my Mom had dissolved into tears. Sam had crept into my room, trying to appear older and rougher than breaking into his own tears. I had welcomed my brother into bed, flipping down the light coverlet for him to crawl under.
Sam had hugged my stuffed animal, face buried in the soft fur until the screaming stopped. Usually, I would have sung to my little brother to help him sleep, but with the divorce, the fighting, and my own personal issues, I'd start withdrawing. Which meant not even speaking.
The school had ended by the time the paperwork had been signed and settled. Sam gave Mom grief about moving to her hometown, but I said nothing. There wasn't anything left for me in Phoenix - my toxic relationship had ended badly. I touched the lightening bruise on the side of my face in memory. I didn't have any friends, and now Mom had divorced Dad.
I felt hopeful that Santa Carla would be a better place. Something deep inside me yearned for the sandy beach, the hot summer sun, and the scent of saltwater in the air. I could faintly remember the summers spent in the town; Dad always griped about coming to Mom's hometown. Our summers spent in Santa Carla were few.
Sam grumbled for most of the ride. I was content to let my brother sit in the front seat while my Mom tried to ease the growing tension rising with every mile closer to Santa Carla. I didn't bother to protest - not wanting to spend one more minute in Phoenix. I didn't want to be any closer to my paternal figure than I had to be. Sam was popular. He wore designer clothing and had a lot of friends in Phoenix, even though he was a comic nerd.
"Honey, you need to eat something," My Mom's eyes found mine in the rearview mirror. I sighed granola bar in hand. I had picked each piece of oats off the bar for two hours. "Please just eat the granola bar."
"I'll eat it!" Sam reached back and snatched the granola bar from my hand. Before Mom could protest or reprimand my brother for taking my food, he had it half-crammed into his mouth. My stomach turned with disgust at seeing his bulging cheeks and flecks of chewed food on his lips. "Mmm!"
I just sighed and returned to gazing out onto the landscape. I could hear the seagulls becoming louder, indicating we were closer to Santa Carla and the sea. Mom wanted to say something else about my food situation but turned her attention to my brother as they messed with the radio.
For the past three years, my parents have struggled with my eating disorder. I didn't want to eat anything at all. My dad tried to ship me off to an inpatient facility, but they released me after I didn't gain any of the much-needed weight back.
Nanook, my brother's husky, set her head on my lap, offering warmth and protection. I reached down and pulled a copy of Tolstoy's Anna Karenina out of my bag. I knew it would be at least another hour before we reached Grandpa's place in Santa Carla.
"We are stopping!" Mom announced loudly, startling me. I was engrossed in the pages of Russian literature, the illicit affair between Anna and Vronsky. I jumped, the sharp tone of my mother's voice cutting through the scenes playing out in my head as I read.
I grabbed the discarded ribbon across my thin thigh and pressed it between the book's pages. I always needed to find my bookmarks; therefore, I would use any material to track my progress. Mom pulled into a gas station parking lot, needing to fill the car's tank.
"I'm taking Nanook to potty!" Sam yelled, jumping out of the front seat. He grabbed his dog's leash and then took her across the lot. I watched as my brother had no qualms about walking past all the people.
I blinked as I took in the people milling about us. My Mom was busy putting gas in the tank, so I just gazed at those passing by. All the individuals were bright - and colorful. It differed from what I was used to in Phoenix, but it made sense with my Mom's aesthetic. She loved colorful clothing and gauzy skirts.
Looking around, I saw that everyone was different but fit together. There were women clad in bikinis, roller skating down the sidewalks, and goth kids covered from head to toe in black. Homeless kids in worn layers, alongside surfer guys in wetsuits, carting around surfboards. It was astonishing to see all these individuals walking beside one another.
They wouldn't be in the same vicinity as their counterparts in any other town. People of the same cliques and gangs would stick together, not daring to break into another group.
However, as I stood there, gazing around at the people, I felt a seed of jealousy take root deep within my soul. It might have been the heat of the sun, but the hot feeling radiated from within my body as I looked around. These people felt comfortable enough to express themselves through their outfits and appearance. They weren't afraid to show their originality - some had numerous piercings, colored hair, and weird hairstyles. Even their tattoos and clothing - or lack thereof - demonstrated that they weren't shying away from their individuality.
"Honey," my Mom's soft voice brought me out of my musing as I leaned against the back of the Range Rover. "Can you go give those two this money?" I looked to where my Mom was indicating, pulling my cardigan closer. I saw two teenagers around a dumpster, looking for food scraps in the trash bags. I took the proffered money from my mother's hand and walked towards them. The two gave me a slight, grateful grin before snatching the money and disappearing.
Sam had finished letting Nanook stretch her legs and came across the parking lot towards us. I slid into the backseat, not bothering to fight Sam about the passenger seat. There was no use - I wouldn't argue or talk with him. Sam let Nanook climb in with me, unclipping the leash before shutting the back door.
"Mom!" Sam was excited about something he had seen on his travels. "Did you know there's an amusement park on the beach?"
"That's called the boardwalk, sweetheart," Mom educated the both of us. I just raised an eyebrow in question. My Mom seemed to be more excited about the boardwalk than Sam. "We will go to the boardwalk tonight. Unless, Aria, do you want to go look?"
"That's not fair!" Sam crowed, spinning around to glare at me. "Why does she get to go?"
"Because she's older, Sam," Mom tried to allay his upset. I just shook my head, knowing Mom saw it in the rearview mirror. "Okay. Then we'll all go tonight."
I thought that Grandpa's house would be closer to town, but it was a few miles outside of the main attraction in Santa Carla. I didn't bother to pull out Anna Karenina again; I just gazed out the window. Mom eventually pulled off the city streets onto an unmarked and unpaved road. A cloud of dust, comprised of the dirt making the lane, billowed behind the car. Mom pulled into the driveway, which was lined with wood chips. Sam was looking in horror at the house.
The decor and house were attractive. It looked like an old log cabin converted into a modern-sized dwelling. Grandpa obviously had a knack and talent for wood carving, as many of his projects littered the yard. There were several small trailers, and wind chimes around the lawn. I actually liked the feel of the house.
Exiting the car, I noticed the paddock with at least three horses. They were grazing on the lush, green grass growing, tails lazily swishing in the wind. I could smell the scent of sharp manure and the salty breeze from the sea.
"Grandpa has horses?" I asked, breaking my silent streak. My voice was husky from misuse. My Mom and brother looked at me, amazed that I had spoken.
"Yes," my Mom smiled, happy I had spoken for the first time in several days. I nodded, not saying another word. I looked towards the house entrance that we would call home, noticing the figure of a man lying on the porch.
My face paled, immediately assuming the worst. Sam and my Mom went to investigate the situation, but I stayed by the car. I didn't want to walk onto the scene to find my grandfather dead of a heart attack.
"Honey, he's just a deep sleeper!" My Mom tried to settle my nerves with a gentle smile. She waved her hand to make me come over and join the trio on the porch. I sucked in a deep lungful of the salty air before walking across the yard towards the porch.
"If he's dead, can we move back to Phoenix?" Sam asked, causing my Mom and I to glare at him. He shrunk back as Grandpa opened his eyes and moved.
"Playin' dead!" Grandpa's innate masculine voice filled the air. It was a relief to hear his voice, knowing that he wasn't dead. I turned to look down at the man with whom we would live for the unforeseeable future. "And from what I heard, doin' a damn good job of it."
My Mom chuckled as she leaned down to hug her father. I can imagine it would be a relief to be comforted by one's parents, especially as Grandma had died when Mom was just a preteen. Her dad was her rock, someone Mom could depend upon in life.
Sam looked weirded out by the situation, but I wordlessly motioned we should return to the car. We had little to move since Dad got everything in the settlement. Mom had wanted the divorce over and done with, so she took the lowest agreement with Dad. Even though Mom could have won more in the divorce since she was taking care of Dad’s two kids, she just signed the paperwork.  Chapter Two

“Ohh Gareth is blushing!” “Aww are you talking to your girlfriend again?” “He is in love” his younger sisters are giggling, dancing around Gareth who is currently sitting on the kitchen counter, telephone in hand.
“He just can’t help himself, she is just so pretty!” “And smart” “and talented” with high-pitched voices they are mocking the way their older brother is regularly fawning over you, while overly batting their eyelashes.
“They are growing up so fast!” His oldest sister is dramatically wiping away fake tears.
“You’re literally five years younger than me, what do you mean?”
“Actually I’m only four and a half years younger than you, so you’re wrong!”
Gareth is about to tell her that that is basically the same when he gets distracted by your laugh coming through the phone. “I can’t wait to finally meet your sisters!”
He grins “Ohh so that is the real reason why you finally decided to come and visit me. I can’t believe it, my dearest girlfriend is only dating me because of my siblings.”
“Don’t be silly!” He can hear the grin in your voice “We both know that it’s actually your hair that wooed me, but I guess your personality and you as a person in general are alright as well.”
“Haha very funny. I think you guys meeting will probably be the death of me.”
“What a great way to die.” those are the last words his youngest sister says before she grabs the older one and pulls her out of the room.
Gareth and you met at a concert a few months ago and instantly hit it off. After finding out that you both drove about two hours to the concert, coming from opposite directions, you exchanged numbers and promised each other to at least call every once in a while. Planning to attend the next good concert, that’s somewhat nearby, together.
Well, looking back on it now you might have overdone the whole staying in touch thing a little bit, not that you’re complaining! You and Gareth had great chemistry from the start and easily spent multiple hours talking on the phone every day. Considering that, and the way you both have been quite smiley ever since coming back from the concert, none of your family members were surprised when you announced your relationship.
You both have been itching to meet in person again, which is why you decided that the first longer trip you are gonna make with your first own car that you just got for your eighteenth birthday, is going to be to Hawkins. Gareth was over the moon, hearing this news, having himself begged his mom at least a thousand times to let him borrow her car over the weekend, to make his way over to your city.
“It’s getting late, I think I should head to bed, after all, I have a long drive planned tomorrow.”
It’s Thursday afternoon right now, tomorrow around this time you are gonna be lying in your boyfriend's arms. You already have everything packed and safely stored in your trunk, planning to drive over directly after school in hopes of arriving during the early evening.
“Okay, I’m really looking forward to tomorrow. Please drive safely, good night sweetheart.”
“Good night babes, see you tomorrow.”
He nearly has a heart attack when he hears his sister speaking up next to him “Aww he called her sweetheart, how adorable.” She giggles.
“Shouldn’t you be in bed?”
“Shouldn’t you be taller?”
The next day Gareth is up nearly an hour earlier than normal, being way too excited to even think straight. His giddiness follows him through the day confusing the Hellfire guys immensely. This is not how he normally responded to being at school.
“Okay, what’s up with you?” Eddie is the one to finally break the silence when they are all sitting at their lunch table “You’ve been acting weird all day!”
“Oh my girlfrie-” he is not able to finish his sentence before he gets interrupted by Jeff “Ohhh your totally real girlfriend that coincidentally lives super far away.” The boys laugh “You know we are all single, no need to make up lies to-” one of the other Hellfire boys speaks up just to end up getting interrupted as well. And that by no other than one of the freshmen “Not all of us are single, we’re not!”.
Damn.
“Well,” Gareth, being fed up with his friends not believing that he could possibly be in a relationship, abruptly stands up “Actually, she is visiting this weekend so if you come over you can finally meet my in fact very real girlfriend.” With that he storms out of the cafeteria, leaving his tray behind for the others to clean up.
His angry mood doesn’t stick, but his good mood doesn't return either. Is it really so unlikely for him to have a girlfriend? Is it so unrealistic that a girl could be attracted to him? He always thought that you were out of his league, but before now it never worried him or made him feel insecure. Quite the opposite actually, he was always proud that he was able to score a girl like you.
But what if you remembered him in an idealized kind of way? Would you be disappointed after seeing him in the flesh again? Would it be awkward? What if you decided that he wasn’t what you expected and just broke up with him?
His spiraling was interrupted when his house came into view, with a car parked in front of it, which exactly matched the description you had excitedly given him a few days ago talking about your newest possession. Is he starting to imagine things now? You shouldn’t be arriving until way later in the day.
When he opens the front door he is greeted with the view of you and his mom, giggling and drinking tea at the kitchen table, something suspiciously looking like a photo album lying in front of you. The noise of the closing door notifies both of you of his presence making you simultaneously look up.
“Hi”
He is still frozen at the door. You stand up, cross the room and meet him at the door, embracing him in a hug as soon as he is within reachable distance. Coming back to earth he quickly returns it.
“Hey”
“You’re early.” It comes out more like a statement than a question. His tone made you fear that you crossed a boundary or upset him, slightly pulling back from the hug to look at his face “Yes, is that okay?”
“YES! Sorry! I mean yeah that’s totally cool, I’m just surprised. How did you get here so early?”
You grin sheepishly “I might or might not have skipped school today. But I wouldn't have been able to focus either way because I was way too excited” you reason.
“You’re lucky that it was my day off today or you would be sitting on the porch right now” his mother's amused tone pulled you out of your little daze, finally completely pulling out of the hug “I probably should be concerned about you being a bad influence on my son by skipping school, but it looks like he himself isn’t really taking his attendance that serious either.”
Shit.
“However,” you and Gareth share a slightly anxious look “I'm gonna make an exception and let that slide today, but don't make skipping a habit. We don't want your academics to suffer, right?” Gareth groans, mumbling something about her embarrassing him under his breath.
You on the other side let out a breath you didn't knew you were holding in. You didn’t even think twice about what impression you would leave, when you show up for the first time meeting your boyfriend's mom, proudly proclaiming that you just skipped school.
She grabs her bag and turns to you. “I'm going grocery shopping, anything I should bring honey?” You both simultaneously shake your head. “I wasn't talking to you Gareth, you just skipped school, I may not punish you, but I’m sure as hell aren’t rewarding you either!”
“But she skipped too, why are you asking her then?”
Geez thanks.
“Well SHE is not my child to raise and SHE is also a guest, if you excuse me now, I want to be at the shop before all the good fruits and vegetables are gone.” With that the door closes behind her, resulting in you two being alone now.
“Hi” 'Wow smart thing to say, if she doesn’t already think that you are a total loser she sure does now.'
Instead of laughing at him as he expected, you smile.
“Hi! Wanna show me your room?”
Back at Hawkins High, the Hellfire Club is still sitting at their table.
“Wasn’t that a bit much? He seemed genuinely hurt.” Dustin, always the sweetheart, speaks up. “Yeah, I feel bad now too” agreement follows from the others.
“Do you really think that his girlfriend isn’t real?” Mike asks Eddie
“I mean I was suspicious before, but this kind of sold the deal, right? If he had a girlfriend, why would he react like that?” The others nod at their ‘leaders‘ reasoning.
Dustin decides to speak up again in hopes of making them see the said things from Gareth's perspective “I mean you sort of implied that it's extremely unlikely for a woman to want him”
Eddie looks offended “Come on now, that’s not what I said or meant and you know that.”
“Yeah, I know that, but does Gareth?”
“Okay, you know what, I'm gonna drive over and apologize. Then I'm telling him that it’s no biggy that he lied about having a girlfriend and we will all just forget about it. Yay happy ending, driving into the sunset together with our hair flowing in the wind.”
“Fine man, but Im coming with you,” Jeff says “Not the whole sunset thing, but I think I have to apologize too.” And with that, they both make their way to Eddies van to drive over to Gareths.
Gareth on the other hand has long forgotten about their ‘fight’ at lunch, being a lot more focused on the way his girlfriends' lips feel. He still can’t believe that he finally has you here, in his house, in his room, in his bed. That he can hug, touch and kiss you. He slowly pushes you down, laying part of his body weight on you to get closer, while your hands find their way under his shirt.
Eddie and Jeff have now arrived at their destination, ringing the doorbell a few times.
Nothing.
“He must still be mad, let's get in through the garage, they never lock it.” Eddie proposes.
“There is someone at the door” you break the kiss
“Yeah, I heard.” Gareth only takes a second to respond before instantly chasing your lips again.
“You don’t want to open?”
“Nah, whoever it is is gonna survive, I have more important matters to attend to.” You giggle, making your boyfriend aware of how smitten he is again.
The two boys have successfully entered the house and are now walking up the stairs, Eddie already talking the apology, that he and Jeff came up with on their way here, through in his head, being so deep in thought, he doesn’t even consider knocking before he opens the door, well more like slams the door open.
The first thing he hears is a shriek that sounds suspiciously like it came from a girl. The next sound is clearly Gareths voice.
“What the fuck dude, ever heard of knocking? Get the fuck out!” With that, he is pushed out of the room by a shirtless Gareth. Neither he nor Jeff has a chance to say anything before Gareth is slamming the door in their faces.
“Damn, maybe he wasn’t lying.”
“Good for him, good for him.”

EDDIE MUNSON / LITTLE SISTER! READER HCS
Tumblr media
༶•┈┈୨♡୧┈┈•༶
if you have the same music taste as him expect him to be talking abt it ALL THE TIME
like seriously the only people who enjoy the same music as him is his band and most of hellfire, he's gonna grab you by the throat from your room and you WILL appreciate some iron maiden and possibly some quiet riot as well
loves to take you to his gigs at the bar no matter how old you are. ofc if you're under 21 he's gonna try his best to keep an eye on you but this dude's ego is through the roof when it comes to his guitar playing and occasional singing so basically as his little sister you have to witness how cool your older brother is
even if you don't share his taste in music or clothing he'll make you a battle jacket or give you one of his old ones that doesn't fit anymore (just pretend like it doesn't smell like weed and whatever else he uses)
annoying. absolutely ruthless. comes into your room just to talk abt the most stupid thing that you don't even care abt. he's probably worse when it comes to gossiping than the popular kids at hawkins
being eddie's sister you probably wouldn't have the best reputation automatically. he's definitely aware and while he doesn't show negative emotions much he feels bad and tries to make it up to you in little gifts or by taking you places. he's determined to prove he's a better brother than what everyone else makes him out to be
doesn't let you touch his guitar but if you showed enough interest in it he'd get some money and surprise you w one of his own. he'd be so proud too, he'd probably want you to join his band and come with him on his gigs
brags about you all the time. you're the best little sister he's ever had (you two are the only siblings) and he wouldn't trade you for the world. even so he'd manage to throw in a little sibling like insults as well
remember when i said he loves to annoy you? yeah. take that to the full extent. if he could he'd likely throw you over his shoulder whenever you begin annoying him or he just feels like it. probably throws you on the couch or whatever wouldn't be likely to give you a concussion. he's not THAT bad of a person
loves discussing music with you even if you don't share his music taste. he'll barge into your room and force you to listen to a random song that he might've found or just likes in general and you WILL listen, even if he has to hold you down in order to do so
fights all. the. time. most of the time he's probably the one starting it simply bc he lives off of annoying people and making them uncomfortable, it's something he loves to do. as your older brother he knows ALL of your buttons and how to annoy you and he uses that to his full advantage whenever he wants to get his way.
holds the fact that he's older over your head all the time no matter how much older he is. he takes pride in it and obviously that means he's superior, so that last bit of icecream in the fridge? it's his automatically. you don't get it.
doesn't want you to end up like him when it comes to his reputation and addiction. he doesn't care abt what people think of him but he wants you to have a relatively normal life. he picked this reputation for himself, you didn't deserve it, too. if he ever overheard someone talking bad about you he'd immediately step in and insist you're WAY better than him, even if you actually aren't. he'll defend you forever
if you also play dnd he'd drag you to hellfire meetings as well (once you're older. the earliest age he'd actually let you tag along is probably 14 since hanging out w freshmen is something he does fairly often) he'd say that the hellfire meetings are serious and little kids aren't allowed. he'd still teach you how to play as soon as you were old enough to understand what he was saying, though
even though he's failed highschool 2 times already he is an absolute nerd, specifically when it comes to language arts. he was probably in a few honors english classes in his earlier years of highschool and when he eventually started caring about school less he stopped getting put into them. he loves to read and often tries to suggest books he likes to you as well
he'd try his best to help you w homework because even though he can't graduate he will certainly make sure you do. he's not the best at math and didn't care much for history but he'd try his best to help regardless if you asked him to
he likely wore eyeshadow and eyeliner in middle school and possibly his earlier high school years so he would in fact LOVE to do your makeup, thanks for asking. he definitely has a few pictures of your younger toddler self in heavy terrifying makeup because he thought it was absolutely hilarious to make you into a metalhead, and not knowing any better you would notice eddie laughing and decide you found it funny, too. uncle wayne was indifferent
doesn't talk abt your dad often if you're too young to remember when he was around. you may have heard eddie and uncle wayne talking about him and asked and both's faces contorted into a sort of sour expression. they tried their best not to talk abt him around you after that
if you were somehow popular and managed to get over the little reputation that was oh so generously handed over to you by the upperclassmen eddie wouldn't quite hate you for it. you're still his sister of course and a high school status wasn't going to change his view of you. he will definitely still tease you over it, though and occasionally ask for you to give your friends a good word on his behalf
his van is MESSY. like seriously, it's horrible. covid 19 probably originated in that very same van. his definition of cleaning the front seat for you is throwing trash in the back so it's at least able to be sat in but it reeks in there
loved to give you piggyback rides when you were younger and even older if it's possible. he'd definitely scare you a few times by pretending to almost drop you or body slamming you into the nearest couch but he'd be a very good older brother when it came to attention
if you were in the hellfire club he'd tease you even more relentlessly and the other boys would likely pick up on it at some point, but he'd insist he and only him could bully you. you were his sister after all, not theirs
if you ever dated anyone from the hellfire club he'd be a little against it at first as he wasn't quite sure how his friends would treat a girlfriend (they're all awkward guys that get no girls, let's be real) but if he realized you were happy w whoever you chose he wouldn't mind at all. he'd be glad one of his friends finally got a girl for once, even if it was his sister
if it was someone he didn't know however it'd be a different story. he knows how guys can be and he doesn't want you going through anything bad at all, he'd live up to his little reputation of possibly being a murderer if anything at all happened to you
if you got a girlfriend or any other kind of partner however he'd be a little shocked but he'd support you regardless. i personally hc him as omnisexual w a preference for men so he'd let you in on his little secret of being a boy kisser and insist there's NOTHING wrong w you for liking any gender other than guys
same goes for if you're trans. while he can't personally relate he obviously loves you no matter what and will support you forever
loves to tease you randomly and give you mean nicknames. it's just what siblings do, as he says, and since he's older he can do whatever he wants obviously
when you first get into high school he tries his best to give you tips on whatever you need to know. he learned the hard way high school sucks unless you're popular, which you likely wouldn't be just by being his brother in general. you associate w eddie you're unpopular, that's just basically how it works
he'd also automatically give you the option of at least hanging around the hellfire club just so you have some friends if you didn't already. he'd recommend whoever was closest to your age to be your best friend and honestly you'd probably be their best friend, they're all very welcoming when it comes to unpopular people and you're also eddie's sister, so you're automatically pretty cool
IF YOU WANT MORE PLEASE SHOW THIS SOME LOVE !!!!

OK hot take: When you talk about "national literary canons" or whatever, Britain's is BY FAR the most overrated out of any nation except maybe Germany. Dickens, Trollope, the Bronte sisters, could never fucking stand any of them. I'd say my list of best literary canons by nation would be something like:
America
Russia
Persia
And then Britain is somewhere between Antarctica and Hell.

Characters?: gareth, (name), Hollie (oc), amanda (oc)
pairing: gareth x reader ( Platonic with a capital P)
Gareth is 16-17, (name) is 14-15

______________________________________________________________
It was no secret that gareth had a favourite sister out of his 3 sisters, (name) was gareth's favourite because they had so much in common and because they were around the same age. When (name) was born gareth swore to protect his sister from bullies when they were growing up, Of course he cared about Hollie (younger sister) and amanda (older sister) but something was special about (name). He adored the smile on her face whenever he came to pick him up in his car after school or when they were going to a diner and they have milkshakes all other their face, laughing about stuff they were talking about.
When gareth got into high school he started to get bullied for being weird or not doing the popular kids homework even though he didn’t do homework himself, and of course again he vowed that when you get into high school that you would have a better experience because he’s that type of brother.
When (name) did get into highschool gareth was always with her, and when he joined hellfire and became friends with eddie they bother said that they would never let you experience the same experience as they did, But what (name didn’t tell her brothers (+eddie) that she was getting bullied because she hanged out with the “freaks” and she started to get called that whenever she walked past some people in the hallway. Eventually gareth and eddie find out and threaten the shit out of everybody that said freak to you.
“if you EVER say that to her again istg i will not hesitate to fuck your life up”
“lay a hand on her and i will fucking hunt you down”
You had a nickname for everybody Eddie’s was Eds gareth’s was Thumper (from bambi because (name) made him watch it with her) But gareth didn’t have a nickname for you, he only had a shorter version of your name and that’s it, but he wanted to give you a special nickname. Like how you gave him a special nickname, so he started testing some nicknames.
Cupcake? no that was to cheesy babydoll? Hell no it's not the 60s, as he was thinking while walking with you near lovers lake there was a beautiful butterfly flying around. He saw it “dance” it the sky with it’s orange and yellow body, as he was looking at it it came down and landed on (names) nose the wings fluttering open and close that’s when gareth had the perfect nickname for (name) it was
Butterfly
As he said that in his head it matched up with (name) so perfectly. She would dance in the backyard kina like how the butterfly was “dancing” in the sky, the way her hair would flick up as she jumped just like the butterfly’s wings fluttering in and out.
As they were walking back to gareth’s van (i know this man has a van instead of a car ) (name) was talking about how she wanted to be on the cheerleading team and wanting to be like chrissy cunningham but gareth always told (name) that she is better being herself then chrissy. That was almost 3 years ago when gareth started calling (name) butterfly and hasn’t said her real name in years just like she did with his nickname.

emerson is both a little sister & a big sister , but the big sister hate is something she's had to wear since she was four & her moms adopted brenton. this is even made more apparent with ( @dhampirslays ) or cardan ( @cruelprincae ) - more so cardan , to be honest. she thinks joyce can handle herself a bit more than the fae , who she just sort of ... picked up because he was lost & hungry & it was sad.

The Promise Chapter Two
Chapter Two
The Range Rover my mother retained in the divorce was filled with little. Mom had a small trailer attached to the station wagon's rear, which contained most of our meager possessions. Mom only bothered taking a little from the marriage - just what she needed, like clothes and small possessions.
Inside the trailer was my bicycle, amongst our other belongings. I had a driver's license, but my parents revoked my privilege when my eating disorder got out of hand. Therefore, my Schwinn bicycle was my primary method of transportation, which was a win in my eyes. I also got to burn off calories I hadn't even consumed.
I started to remove the boxes, clearly labeled. Sam's comic box was one of the heaviest outside of my two boxes of books. During the move, I had to downsize my collection. But that was a good cleaning opportunity. It allowed me to review and evaluate every book I owned or collected. I determined if I liked the book enough to read again or if I thought that it belonged in my collection. At the end of my book cleaning, I was left with mainly classics, a few books that I read and wanted to reread, and then about six books that I didn't have a chance to read.
Since I wasn't optimistic about the room situation, I grabbed the box of miscellaneous kitchen items. Sam tried to inch away, but I grabbed him by the collar. He yelped at a possible stretch when I dumped the box of comics into his arms. Sam huffed but followed me into the house.
"When you put those boxes down, the empty rooms are up the stairs," Grandpa stated, momentarily breaking the conversation with Mom. I nodded to show that I heard, and Sam continued behind me, curious about the interior of the log-cabinesque home.
"You two can pick first," Mom nodded at me. I smiled at my Mom in understanding and acknowledgment before I took my first step into the home.
It looked how I pictured it. Dark wood, with a cabin-like appearance. There was a loft overlooking the living room but a lack of natural light. The furniture was dark and wooden, seemingly hand-hewn. If there had ever been a woman's touch in the decoration, it was lost underneath the numerous taxidermied animals and masculine furniture.
"This is like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre!" Sam complained, being overly dramatic about the house. I rolled my eyes at his dramatism and theatrics, walking over the hardwood floors to the kitchen. Thankfully, the kitchen was lighter than the main cabin and could easily be seen in the gloom of the house. I just walked through the kitchen towards the back door, where I deposited the box of kitchen supplies by the door.
"What's wrong with this picture!" Sam's voice was louder and squeaker as he continued whining about our new home. "There's no TV! Have you seen a TV? I haven't seen a TV Aria! You know what it means when there's no TV? NO MTV!"
I didn't bother to voice a response to my brother. He was being dramatic and throwing a temper tantrum over a television set. I, for one, was glad to not have a television in the house. It would mean less distraction and more time for Sam to annoy me. Instead, I walked towards my brother, stopping momentarily and tapping on the comic book box. I raised an eyebrow, and then I walked around him. While he was distracted, I could pick a room.
There were twenty steps leading to the second floor. When I had made it up about twelve steps, I had to stop for breath. My lungs burned, my thighs ached, and I had black dots at the edge of my vision. Not to mention the heart palpitations literally taking my breath away. I didn't want Mom or Sam to see me in this state, so when I heard footsteps and their voice coming closer, I continued my trek up the last few stairs.
I poked my head into the rooms, finally deciding on the room that overlooked the paddock. The window allowed ample light to waft through the thin, lacy curtains. The room was big enough to be comfortable, and a bookcase was a bonus part of the wall. It was built in, which would mean less money to make the room more hospitable.
I set the duffel bag full of clothing onto the bed. Sam ran up the stairs and tried to claim the room. I folded my arms in front of my chest and tapped my foot. Sam had to concede defeat. He chose the room that adjoined the bathroom. It was a Jack and Jill room. I rolled my eyes - Sam was utterly disgusting in the bathroom. He never cleaned, but at least we had separate rooms.
I opened the window while Sam thundered down the stairs. I smiled, feeling the sun's rays warming my skin. Mom shouted at Sam to stop running. That's when I gathered the rest of the things from the car.
Sam's astute awareness of my ailments meant he realized I was struggling to trek up and down the stairs. Thankfully, instead of making a scene about my weakened state, Sam brought the heavier boxes up the stairs. Once he was finished, I nodded at him in thanks.
"Honey, did you find a room?" My mother asked, turning her gentle gaze onto me. I wished I could wear short hair like my Mom, mainly due to the sweat beading in my hairline.
I nodded with a smile. I actually liked my new room. It was a sharp contrast to my previous room in Phoenix, but it was cozy. I had ample amount of room for my books and room for growth. I made my way up the stairs, feeling as though I might pass out by the time I reached my room.
In case I did pass out, I shut the door. I didn't want my Mom or Sam to spy me sprawled out on the floor, unconscious. If I passed out, I knew from experience that I would wake up on my own. I sat on the bed, head between my knees, waiting for the feeling to fade. Once more stable, I stood and began removing the books from the boxes.
"Honey," my Mom knocked on the door and peeked her head in. "I'm taking you and your brother to the boardwalk tonight. Dinner will be at 6, then we will leave around 7:30. Alright?"
I gave a nod to show I heard. Then, I continued to put my books on the shelves. I decided that it would take too long tonight to sort the books. I wanted them out of the boxes, not contained for months. Therefore, I could sort them by genre tomorrow and then alphabetize the novels.  Chapter Three

~
Both you and Edgar froze and looked in the direction of the voice, there was a tall shadow figure hiding in the shadow.
The person waited for a moment, it was almost as if the figure was hesitating and waiting for a demand.
You narrowed your eyes trying to make of the face, but nothing.
It was pitch black and no hope.
' Who ever it is, come on out!" Edgar growled.
' I don't think I can do that ' the voice said.
Your eyes widened, you recognize the voice instantly. It was your ex, Sam Emerson.
You and he use to be a couple, but after being bitten by your brother Alan.
He has changed.
So he broke up with you and left, and that was the last time you saw.
At least until now.
' Come on out, Sam. You and I have unfinished business to discuss!'.
You gulped and watched as your ex-lover step out of the shadow.
You gasped at his appearance, he did not look the same as before.
But you could recognize his baby blue eyes from anywhere.
Tumblr media
Sam Emerson.
' Brave enough to show your face around here, huh Sam?' Your brother gasped.
You turned slowly and blocked Sam's body with yours. But it was too late, your brother has eyes on Sam.
Someone would die today.
Rather it was you or him.
Sam did his dirty talking and ran full speed at Edgar, but it was too late, your brother pulled out crossbow and shot it through Sam's heart.
Sam was dust the next seconds later.
Tears filled your eyes,as you dropped to floor and held the ash in your hand.
You didn't care that your back was turned and that Edgar was ready to kill you.
Or that you were exposed his weapon.
You just wanted your Sammy back.
' Any last words?' Your brother asked.
You didn't say anything.
Edgar raised the weap ready to kill you, but a white light flashed through the room.
Both of you shielded your eyes from the light and a few seconds later, a voice spoke up.
' No one is dying tonight? '.
You gasped.
You recognized that voice instantly.
It was your other brother -
Alan.

She had spoken once or twice of continuing her studies in France or Switzerland, where (strange as it may seem to a Briton) the prejudices against female physicians was not so strong. I believed that she was loath to leave us, however; she adored Emerson, who was putty in her little hands, and she and Ramses really were like brother and sister. That is to say, they were on the best of terms except when they were being rude to one another.
