How Can You Recover Precious Metals From Electronic Wastes?
Tumblr media
It is not only the gold that makes your old electronic gadgets precious. They have various metals like platinum, copper, silver and similar other metals. Some people may have told you that old electronic gadget, especially their integrated circuits, diode and transistors are made of gold. Then, is your mobile a good source of gold? Probably, it is not. Gold might be a precious metal but it cannot carry electricity as other metals can. So, apart from gold, many other metals can be used for some reasons. So, let’s consider electronic waste and look into it to notice what is inside it.
The current trend of e-waste
Most people know that e-waste is made of precious metals (PMs), and has some great economic value, but most researchers and recycling experts do not have invested time in finding them out. Hence, it is still new to the world to recycle e-waste and bring out PMs.
For a brief moment, it is possible to obtain something from e-waste. Hence, it is possible to recover at least some of the value of the investment from the IT equipment but only from gold.
The Motherlode of e-waste is and its myth
E-Waste may contain various kinds of plastic materials and other ad-hoc metals that are always common to every piece of equipment used to build the cases and bodies. Glass, plastic, fiber, etc., are the materials that are very common in building traditional electronic gadgets. On the other hand, it contains IC, transistors, diodes, and triodes. It also contains capacitors and resistors. They all contain precious metals, but not for high electric conductivity and precise electric supply, but to improve the corrosion resistance and hardness of electronic devices.
Volume is the key
When attempting to extract valuable precious metals from electronic waste, you must consider collecting a large number of electronic devices. More specifically, you have to collect a huge amount of circuit boards like the RAMs, processors, ICs and all other related boards where a lot of ICs and memory chips are attached. To accumulate enough gold, platinum, silver, palladium, nickel, copper, aluminum, lithium, and some other rare metals, a lot of scrap IT products are essential. As a result, the accumulation of PMs is dependent on the collection and proper processing of e-waste.
Different local collectors and companies that accumulate all these materials are called “urban miners."
As the gold rush goes on, other materials are mingled with the other materials, and the value of precious metals, reducing the processing and recycling costs. However, gold is not the only material that you will find from IT waste. We have mentioned the other materials that you will find from this waste.
Is there any importance of IT Hardware waste?
Yes, IT hardware has value in three ways. Resale gives a great amount if the product is good in its quality. Resale its parts. And the third is critically innovative to retrieve PMs from them.
All the ways you can get benefits from all this IT hardware waste depends on its present condition. The component's modernity, performance, storage type, device category, and, finally, the overall process for locating precious metals
If the product is out of life
When the product is out of its life, there is no way except for destroying the products in bulk in a way that will be safe for the environment and bring out the metals with which it is made.
How are they bought or collected?
Scrap commodities are traded by weight or in bulk. The collectors provide a bulk price for all the IT products. Sometimes, they collect the hardware parts only by weight.
The recycling process
Previously, it is mentioned that when any part is reusable, they are used for that purpose. On the other hand, when they are not reusable, they are destroyed and sent to the demolition ground for bringing out the precious metals. The latter is always taken into account in some industries so that e-waste does not harm or pollute Mother Earth and processing experts profit from it. The quantity of precious metals is a fraction of their original weight.
An approximate measure of derived metals
Scrap IT commodities are measured in weight. 8 LB laptops or 25lb monitors may contain a few grams of precious metals at most. Amazingly, the majority of the device’s weight comes from less valuable materials like plastic, and aluminum. Iron, nickel, rung, glass and more. The valuable metals remain only on the IC, transistors, processors, RAMs and similar other equipment.
Going deeper into the scrapped material and its derived products, shredded laptops might end up being the material worth about $10 per pound of material. However, old laptops and IT devices produce more precious materials, including gold. Newer generation devices comparatively produce less gold as the researchers try to reduce the production cost.
Modern IT equipment is forced to design with less cost, thinner, lighter and less resource investing produces.
The sum of IT parts and derived PMs
Some devices are resold or reused. This will bring out some extra amount compared to the derivation of precious metals. The value of metals is here irrelevant. When they are not reusable and come to the demolition center, they are targeted to bring out the precious metals. The laptop RAM, processors etc. come out from the collectors in bulk and are sent to the special demolition ground to bring out the metals embedded in it.
In this way, the bulk IT products are collected and sent to derive precious metals as well as other by-products that will give a huge source of plastic, fiber, regular metals, as well as precious metals. As a result, precious metals recovery has been handled by a much-improved recycling facility.
If you want to start a lucrative business with all these IT wastes, you can contact Vans Chemistry. Contact them now.

A reef that has been degraded—whether by coral bleaching or disease—can’t support the same diversity of species and has a much quieter, less rich soundscape.
But new research from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution shows that sound could potentially be a vital tool in the effort to restore coral reefs.
A healthy coral reef is noisy, full of the croaks, purrs, and grunts of various fishes and the crackling of snapping shrimp. Scientists believe that coral larvae use this symphony of sounds to help them determine where they should live and grow.
So, replaying healthy reef sounds can encourage new life in damaged or degraded reefs.
In a paper published last week in Royal Society Open Science, the Woods Hole researchers showed that broadcasting the soundscape of a healthy reef caused coral larvae to settle at significantly higher rates—up to seven times more often.
“What we’re showing is that you can actively induce coral settlement by playing sounds,” said Nadège Aoki, a doctoral candidate at WHOI and first author on the paper.
“You can go to a reef that is degraded in some way and add in the sounds of biological activity from a healthy reef, potentially helping this really important step in the coral life cycle.”
Corals are immobile as adults, so the larval stage is their only opportunity to select a good habitat. They swim or drift with the currents, seeking the right conditions to settle out of the water column and affix themselves to the seabed. Previous research has shown that chemical and light cues can influence that decision, but Aoki and her colleagues demonstrate that the soundscape also plays a major role in where corals settle.
The researchers ran the same experiment twice in the U.S. Virgin Islands in 2022. They collected larvae from Porites astreoides, a hardy species commonly known as mustard hill coral thanks to its lumpy shape and yellow color and distributed them in cups at three reefs along the southern coast of St. John. One of those reefs, Tektite, is relatively healthy. The other two, Cocoloba and Salt Pond, are more degraded with sparse coral cover and fewer fish.
At Salt Pond, Aoki and her colleagues installed an underwater speaker system and placed cups of larvae at distances of one, five, 10, and 30 meters from the speakers. They broadcast healthy reef sounds – recorded at Tektite in 2013 – for three nights. They set up similar installations at the other two reefs but didn’t play any sounds.
When they collected the cups, the researchers found that significantly more coral larvae had settled in the cups at Salt Pond than the other two reefs. On average, coral larvae settled at rates 1.7 times (and up to 7x) higher with the enriched sound environment.
The highest settlement rates were at five meters from the speakers, but even the cups placed 30 meters away had more larvae settling to the bottom than at Cocoloba and Tektite.
“The fact that settlement is consistently decreasing with distance from the speaker, when all else is kept constant, is particularly important because it shows that these changes are due to the added sound and not other factors,” said Aran Mooney, a marine biologist at WHOI and lead author on the paper.
“This gives us a new tool in the toolbox for potentially rebuilding a reef.”
Adding the audio is a process that would be relatively simple to implement, too.
“Replicating an acoustic environment is actually quite easy compared to replicating the reef chemical and microbial cues which also play a role in where corals choose to settle,” said Amy Apprill, a microbial ecologist at WHOI and a co-author on the paper.
“It appears to be one of the most scalable tools that can be applied to rebuild reefs, so we’re really excited about that potential.”"

Most people find listening to the sound of falling rain relaxing.
Most people.
Not him.
He had spent too many nights huddled under awnings and tucked under bridges, unable to avoid the water that soaked him and what little he had to the skin.
Wet shoes and socks meant being barefoot, too numb with cold to notice he was stepping on broken beer bottles along the road. Wet clothes meant that he had only hours to find somewhere, anywhere to get warm or dry before he would get sick, really sick.
He wasn’t there, anymore.
He was safe.
He was home.
But that didn’t mean the sound of falling rain didn’t fill him with a bone deep sense of dread.
She didn’t understand exactly; she knew she’d been lucky enough to never associate the sound of rain with anything other than staying indoors. But she understood enough.
Warm blankets and dry socks found their way into his lap while the whistle of the kettle drowned out at least a little of the noise.
She’d close the curtains and put a movie on, loud enough that he could almost forget until the next crack of thunder would make him jump.
He didn’t hide under storefront umbrellas or overpasses anymore, but he did tuck himself further under her arm, as if out of habit, even now.
They both silently hoped that one day, the rain would be just rain. But until then, they’d wait out the storm together, in dry socks.

have u thought about doing a frozen pines face claims post? i wonder if you changed ur mind about some of the old ones over the years and how you picture some of the newer characters <3
tbh i find face claims to be more of a hindrance than an inspiration. i see people on the street all the time who remind me of my characters, but i never see actors who jump out at me in the same way. part of it is because obviously actors can dye their hair / put on fake tattoos or cover up tattoos / style themselves completely differently, and i'm not a casting director so it's hard for me to look past an actor's natural appearance to see what they could actually bring to the table for a certain character. but also part of it is my general distaste for the average actor right now; everyone feels so cookie cutter attractive (and they're all in their mid 20s whether they're playing a high school kid or a middle aged dad... like no one ever looks their age) i know that sounds really annoying and pretentious lmao and it's not true in every case, it's just what i'm feeling lately. so if i were picking actors for frozen pines i would choose them based more on vibes & performance rather than strictly appearance, while keeping everyone's core physical characteristics the same, which is a tall order 😭
long story short, i overthink everything and i find it frustrating to even try :( it's a lot more fun for me to remember the fictional characters who have inspired my own characters in some way (either through appearance, personality, or circumstances) so i do that way more often than face claims!!
BUT i do have one. just one ;-; river phoenix as finn

the new lumidouce harbor daytime ost is like an actual fucking jumpscare except like. made from this concentrated bundle of joy and just. the wonderful surprises of life sometimes and then you just sit there listening for it over and over again for 10+ minutes bc something about it just hits so different from any other cheery environmental ost in this game i cant even put it into words. it feels like spring it feels like new beginnings it feels like hope i genuinely dont think a single soundtrack has quite had this effect on me before i was literally just getting goosebumps from it somehow. what the hell
....and then theres no radiant spincrystal for it 😭😭😭😭 hoyo what the fuck i need this in my teapot

Wrote my limnology lab final. Now, my limnology prof is super laid back, and a pretty easy marker. So he gave us a bonus question on the lab final for an extra percent, and he said to just "be creative" and get the mark.
Now, a large part of my limnology class was dedicated to fishes. Identifying them, their anatomy, management, all that. Necessarily, the bonus question followed suit. It was just a simple 'identification' question, but he wanted everyone to make up names for the fish, since it was obviously not a real fish.
Unfortunately, I'm a paranormal novelist who has to do a lot of research for his projects. And the imaginary fish picture he used was actually just the Fur-Bearing Trout.

Link
Over the last several weeks we have spiked large swaths of trees in the so-called “Capitol State Forest” in rural so-called “Thurston County, Washington” (ancestral Nisqually, Squaxin, and Chehalis land), leading up to the November 5th day of action in solidarity with the Wet’suwet’en struggle against Coastal Gas Link and the Canadian government’s colonial intrusion into their territory.
This seasonal transition has been sharp and hard on the land. Our forests here experienced an unusually sudden shift from severe heatwaves and drought that lasted late into the fall, to floods and freezes with minimal autumnal gentle rains to steward the earth into the rainy season. These forests which have fed so many for time immemorial show the consequences. As climate change-fueled “natural” disasters become more and more devastating every year, the industrial rate of destruction of everything that sustains the land and the people on it only escalates. Politicians speak out of one side of their mouths about “truth and reconciliation” or “climate action,” while with the other side of their mouths they send the police to clear the way for mining and logging companies. Swaths of land dripping in moss and bubbling with streams, teeming with mushrooms and other life will soon be left as dry mangled fields, mirrors of the hellscapes being created in unceded Wet’suwet’en territory. Lifeless, and robbed of all sustenance and culture, useless to anyone but the corporations and people who sold off a forest they had no connection to.
All of these industries are on the side of Coastal Gas Link and they are all our enemies. We feel the rage, creativity, and determination of the people of Wet’suwet’en and Wedzin Kwa, and must all act against every aspect of colonial industry which threatens the sovereignty and lifeblood of lands and waters. We hope this message serves as a warning to deter all upcoming timber sales in the Capitol Forest. If the trees are cut, we hope for maximum damage to the chainsaws and mills.
Up in Wet’suwet’en territory, CGL just blew up Lamprey Creek, an active salmon and eel spawning ground, and home to two elders’ cabins on the Wedzin Kwah river. These waters and forests are lifeblood being stolen and desecrated. Drilling under the crystal clear Wedzin Kwah is active, while salmon actively spawn nearby. Wet’suwet’en protectors have specifically called on anarchists to step up. This comes with huge risk for the Wet’suwet’en. Let that call be heard and felt by our friends and our enemies.
DECOLONIZE THE PLANET GO LOG IN HELL WORLDWIDE SOLIDARITY WITH WET’SUWET’EN CGL FUCK OFF ALSO STOP COP CITY – DEFEND THE ATLANTA FOREST SHUTDOWNEVERYTHING

just finished silent hill 2. got the "leave" ending...
Tumblr media
i have to stop myself from crying since i went to the hallway and listened to mary and james's conversation until the end....
THAT FUCKING LETTER BROKE MY HEART I AM SOBBING SO MUCH BRO
but... yeah that ending is such a bittersweet end, i can only hope james can move on with his life... in whatever way he'll choose. and for laura to have a better future. 🥲
also goddamnit james, eddie and angela are really victims of circumstances... i wonder how they actually are if nothing bad happened to them, but also... that's how trauma is, it doesn't make you stronger, it just ended up changing you fundamentally as a person to the point you might not even recognized the face that stare back at you in the mirror
but the only way is to live with it, while finding ways to... gain strength and not let it be the only thing that shaped your current self.
it's possible, but it's hard work.
