I hope everyone is having a wonderful beginning of pride month! This is my first pride since coming out and I'd like to share a little bit of my own perspective this pride.

I'm 22 and I only came out a few months ago. I've been super lucky and all of my friends and family have been super accepting. The worst part about coming out has just been me.

My whole life I thought I was straight, I didn't have many crushes (see later learning about demisexuality as well) and any that I did have were very normal cis guys from school. I never had any reason to think I wasn't straight and that was perfectly ok.

My friend group has always leaned on the queerer side. Most of them were out by the time we graduated high school or shortly after and all of them talked about how they always knew that it was always there.

I've known what pansexual is since I was 14 and I'd never thought of it as a label for me, people were pretty but that was it to me, I liked guys.

There's a guilt you feel sometimes when you come out later than your peers. Whether it be like me and you're still young or years down the line. You're still just as valid but there's that part of you that feels guilty for not knowing sooner.

It's my first pride and I feel guilty.

I feel guilty because every year before now pride was for my friends with me as the respectful ally following their lead. I've never even gone to a pride parade, always seeing that as something they got to do, something they deserved to do and I didn't want to intrude.

I know I shouldn't feel guilty but I do.

I hope one day there's a part of me that doesn't feel like I'm just faking these feelings so I can be included, that it's ok I didn't always know but for now there is.

I'm grateful to everyone celebrating pride with me this year, my partner, my friends both here and out in the world and my family.

Thank you for reminding me I'm valid even when I can't always see it.

Somehow, Hermione had convinced Bellatrx to go with her to London Pride.

Bellatrix was old, she’d seen so much, lived through too much, the idea of parading around the street and advertising her queerness seemed so alien to her. Having spent years in the closet, watching from the sidelines as her friends celebrated, and on worse years, faced protesters, Bellatrix was still unsure. But Hermione was so excited, and it was impossible to say no to her.

So, reluctantly, she joined Hermione and their friends, holding her hand tightly for comfort, and stepped into the street. And she felt free.

Hi hi! May I request the "First Pride" prompt for my boy Richie? I imagine that even though he's a bit of a pompous dude, the concept of going to Pride scared him— But it would be lovely if he wound up feeling at home and comfortable as soon as he gets there.

First Pride

[I hope I did Richie and Gideon some justice! It was actually really hard to write at first!]

The neighborhood is having its first ever pride! Everyone's so excited to celebrate the community with bright colors, glitter, and a feast! Everyone except for a particular neighbor. Richie rolled his eyes at the set up outside his window. He could have planned it so much better! It’d have double- No, triple!- the glitter, and less of those tacky patterns. And of course Howdy had to promote this new sale of his…

So why isn’t he out there? Why did he feel so envious of everyone looking so pleased with themselves about the celebration?

His sister caught his glare, and his sneer weakened. He couldn’t keep her gaze for long as he turned away from the window. He hid away to sit on his marriage bed, staring at the contents of his closet. It wasn’t even a matter of lacking anything to wear… He heard the laughter outside, and rolled his eyes again. But as he thought about going out there, dressed to the nines for the occasion, all he could see happening was the awkward side glances, stilted laughter in his presence. He didn’t exactly have the best reputation around.

It was then his husband, his beloved Gideon Gourd, pulled him from his spiraling thoughts with a gentle touch to his shoulder. “You doing okay, sweetheart? Everything’s almost ready for Pride.” Then Gideon noticed the mistiness in his eyes and sat down next to his husband. “Hey, you’re going to be fine. Sarah and I will be there with you.”

“But, what if-” Gideon cupped Richie’s face in his hands, and kissed him.

“What if’s aren’t going to help, Richie. I want you to be happy and comfortable, and I know that Pride is right where you belong.” He pressed one last kiss to Richie’s lips. “I love you, sugar.”

“I love you too,” Richie responded.

Richie watched his husband leave, his words lingering on his mind. They didn’t completely rid him of his anxiety, but he did get enough confidence to at least dress in something fancier. Honestly, fixing up his appearance helped much more than he thought it would. Dressed in a bright, rainbow bedazzled suit, and combing his hair back with more glitter that would surely come back to messily haunt his neighbors in the next coming months, he looked more than good enough to knock everyone’s socks off. He winked at his reflection in the mirror then left to join the festivities.

But as he neared the crowd and attention started catching on him, and his pace slowed. His grin strained with all of the eyes on him before his husband and sister approached him. Before he knew it, each hand was in theirs and he was quickly dragged toward the table. Richie still anxiously held tight to Gideon’s hand until he saw just how much fun everyone was happening, even with him there. Even Howdy seemed to sidestep his usual annoyance with Richie to pile various bead necklaces on him.

Surely, he was able to let go of Gideon’s hand, pulling his husband in for a kiss to celebrate the two of them for Pride. “Thank you, my love.”

I WENT TO MY FIRST PRIDE PARADE!!! IT WAS SO MUCH FUN I HAD A TOTAL BLAST OH MY GOD IT WAS AMAZING

People were giving out free hugs and I got so many from moms and dads I cried a few times I felt so accepted and at peace it was wonderful 😭❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

went to my first ever pride event, and i really enjoyed it. to see so many older people was so exciting, and seeing younger teens too made me so hopeful, i never got to do that when i was 14. got to hang out with my queer friends and met new people and even met someone from my high school in the year below me! met a drag queen and she was so so lovely, got to talk to the dykes on bikes gang, saw the bears stall too!! overall such an amazing day, could not have asked for a better first pride event.
