Cenozoic fauna poll... 2!

the last one was a lot of fun and people left great suggestions so I've made a 2nd poll (and also expanded the temporal range slightly)

Like before, the animals would have their space/habitat needs adequately met and would not be immediately at risk for genetic issues/poaching/habitat loss. Also just for funsies you can also imagine that the other members of their ecosystem would also be brought back, this is just who'd you want back first.

i think one of my fave things this season is grian's obsession with fishing. It feels like he's trying so hard to be normal and have a slow start to the season to the point that he's overshot the goal and now does nothing but fish.

he's managed to become more cryptic than usual and i think is being claimed by the ocean, which yknow, good for him

Hot take, I really don’t think we should assign human morals onto animals and call them bad or evil. Fishblr has internalised this idea really well with sharks, and I think that’s good! Sharks don’t deserve all the fearmongering they suffer from in media. But… can we please remember to extend this to other animals too? Even to intelligent animals like dolphins (most commonly bottlenose dolphins) and orcas. It seems to be a counter to pop culture’s tendency to show dolphins as complete angels when they partake in some messed up things, but like…. Dolphins are still animals? They may be able to recognize themselves in mirrors and they may have language and culture and know how to use tools but their intelligence is still on the level of a human child (and how empathetic are those!!??). I see people talk about how evil dolphins are but I never see people talking about other animals the same way, like, why aren’t sea otters and their “evilness” the topic of discussion? :/

Divers and locals alike have been left distraught after the decades-old protected blue groper was speared by a fisherman in front of beachgoers inside a marine reserve.

Kind of embarrassing, but this actually made me tear up a little. The fact that the community was so excited over a fish, something that doesn’t usually fall into the category of “charismatic species” that the public cares about, and it was so well-loved and had a name, and then died in such a sad manner?

hold on hold on i just came to the realization that fish do not sneeze.

imagine how BAMBOOZLED the octatrio would be when they hear you sneeze for the first time??? like human what was that. did you just eject a lung? are you okay??

azul would be immediately concerned, giving you the weirdest look. he hesitantly asks if you're okay, because you seem fine, but you just made the strangest noise he's ever heard and oh, is this a weird land dweller way of showing your affection? because you were pretty cute when you did that. oh, it's not...? well, now he's embarrassed!

jade is fascinated. don't let him find out about that sneezing power or pepper or ANY of that shit. he WILL use it against you. your sneezes are like little treats to this weirdo. he'll even become inclined to test those things on himself, to see just what sneezing feels like. he's genuinely surprised when it isn't painful? and that the face you make in instinctual? land dwellers are so fascinating.

floyd locks onto you. doesn't matter if he was in a mopey mood or pissing off riddle again, his eyes are wide and his pupils are dilated and he's staring at you. it doesn't matter if your sneeze is loud or quiet, he thinks it's so strange and so cute. hey, little shrimpy! what the hell was that and why did it sound so weird?

LIKE....THESE GUYS HAVE GILLS. THEY HAVEN'T HEARD A SINGLE PERSON SNEEZE UNTIL THEY CAME TO THE SURFACE. bc yk, sneezing requires lungs and nasal passages AND MERPEOPLE DONT HAVE THOSE UNLESS THEY TOOK THAT POTION TO BECOME HUMAN AND IM CRYING.

“You’re doing so well, dear,” Jing Yuan whispers. The thickness of his voice sending shivers up your clammy skin. It’s misleading, the thickness of his voice gathered up in the back of his throat like mucus. Something to be hacked out later, cleaned up, thrown away. His large hand smoothes over your small forehead- the size of his palm big enough to smother your face if he so pleased. He could choke you so easily with those fingers. But he never does. “I’m going to move a little. Be brave.”

He gives you a second to prepare yourself before he’s moving his hips back, a slow and dry drag as he guts you from the inside. He’s all over you. You flop and flail, a fish without water, on a cutting board, but you do not scream. Your breath stolen out of your lungs as you bite your lip and hold him tight, careful not to sink your fingernails in. You wouldn’t want to make him bleed. He’s your home.

Then he moves back in, a breath leaving him like he’s breathing the fresh air that you are lacking and reveling it. Something smooth and satisfied. “Wonderful,” he praises, his other hand petting across your belly and playing patterns by your hip.

Jing Yuan had always been your home.

this was drawn a little over 2 weeks ago as i was in the middle of act 2! it's kind of funny in retrospect hahaha i put the star shaped light on sif as a nod to my vague theory that sif had a star for a heart/soul but lost it. Well it wasn't quite right but there was one line of dialogue going towards that direction? a win is a win
